What I Saw at the Two Conventions

Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

I broadcasted my radio show from both the Democratic and Republican Conventions. Here are some observations:

1. The Democrats in Denver were very excited from Day One, just as excited as I saw them at their last convention in Boston. They went on to lose the general election. But I can see why Democrats find it hard to understand it when their candidate loses. At least at the last two Democratic Conventions, it has been very easy for Democrats to believe that they have the right man and the right message.

2. There were some differences, however. In Denver, the Democrats wanted to present themselves as Middle American as possible. In Boston, the hero of the Democratic Convention was Michael Moore. But in Denver, Michael Moore was nowhere to be seen. Nor was Jimmy Carter heard from. And no Jesse Jackson, either. Also, delegates seemed more formally dressed, and there were more flags and more chants of "USA" than even at the Republican Convention. If one only looked at the convention, one could easily have assumed it was the Republicans'.

3. The Republicans had no Day One because of Hurricane Gustav and John McCain's decision to limit the first night's activities to obligatory business. This helped the Republicans insofar as it eliminated Bush-Cheney political liabilities (neither ended up attending), but it had a temporarily dampening effect on morale -- which was not completely undone the second night. It was more than undone the third night with the speeches by, among others, Mike Huckabee, Rudy Giuliani and, of course, Sarah Palin. Gov. Palin is as striking in person as she is on television and in photographs. It is difficult, if not impossible, to overstate the impact of her being named the Republicans' vice-presidential nominee.

4. The Democrats have a superstar candidate who was previously unknown, and the Republicans have a superstar candidate who was previously unknown. The former is a young African-American running for president; the latter is a young woman running for vice president. It is unlikely that there is one person on earth who predicted the four nominees.

5. At the Democratic Convention, I spoke to a number of blacks, on the radio and privately, who predicted that if Barack Obama loses, most blacks will attribute the loss to racism, especially if McCain wins by a narrow margin. They did not even rule out the possibility of some rioting.

6. On the final evening of the Republican Convention, I sat in a suite with Medal of Honor recipients. I rarely find myself speechless, and never find myself intimidated. I did then. I was in the presence of real heroism, of men who really had done great things. I didn't know what to say to them. I was like a kid seated next to his greatest sports or movie idols. I wondered, though, how many Americans, if given a choice between spending an evening with Medal of Honor recipients or movie stars would choose the former.

7. As noted, the Democrats waved many flags. At Invesco Field, where Obama addressed 75,000 supporters, the Democrats gave all of them an American flag. According to The Denver Post, thousands of those flags were left behind or in garbage bags. The Democrats say they intended to pick them up days later for other events. I don't believe them -- not because they are not patriotic (the people I was with at Invesco Field love America), but because they are generally tone deaf to patriotic symbols. My one souvenir from the Democratic Convention is a flag I found on the floor by my seat at the stadium. I instinctively picked up a flag that had fallen and took it home. That is no longer a liberal instinct.

8. The exit from Invesco was chaotic. No provisions for transportation were made, and tens of thousands of people walked long distances. We were literally fenced in until someone tore down a segment of fence, and thousands then climbed over concrete barriers to get out.

9. History will judge whether Obama made a wise decision to deliver his acceptance in a football stadium in front of 75,000 adoring fans. A good argument could be made that it is not his superstar status that he should be emphasizing, but his gravitas.

10. After attending the Democratic Convention, the lack of blacks (and Hispanics) at the Republican Convention was jarring. Former RNC Chair Ken Mehlman made serious efforts to bring African-Americans into the party, but apparently to little avail. Given the troubled state of virtually every inner city governed by Democrats and the Democrats' opposition to school vouchers, one would think more blacks would at least give the Republicans a try. Not this year.

11. For the first time in generations, one party's ticket has no military experience. It does, however, have two lawyers. And neither of the Republican nominees is a lawyer. These facts are not coincidental.

12. After my debate with Air America's Thom Hartmann in Denver, a number of those present -- all Democrats -- commented on how surprised they were at how intellectual the arguments I, the conservative, offered were. This is only because, in general, most liberals see, hear or read conservative arguments far less often than conservatives see, hear and read liberal arguments.

13. What Sen. Joe Lieberman did -- speaking at the Republican Convention on behalf of its presidential nominee -- took immense courage. It is likely that many longtime friends have abandoned him. What he did is also quite dramatic. He was, after all, the Democrats' nominee for vice president of the United States just eight years ago.

14. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at both conventions. But those watching on television miss little. In fact, everyone I spoke to who watched McCain's speech on TV thought it more moving than many of us who were there.

"The former is a young African-American running for president; the latter is a young woman running for vice president."

Hmmm does this quote say anything about D. Prager's world view?

Dennis made no mention of the extreme, impractical eco-demands of the DNC organizers. I think there is much to made of this mind set and what it means for us if they control the government as well as a mine for satire. Come on repubs, make hay of this!

I must admit I did not notice the absence of the left wing loonies who were not there, thanks pointing it out, Dennis.

Error
Should be---thanks for pointing it out, Dennis.

McCains Speech
I counted him referring to his notes 64 times and that was just On-Camera during his 50 minute speech. Over 60% of the speech was straight from his stump speeches that he has given over 50 times. If we count count the off-camera he probably referred to notes every 30 seconds.
Does he have early signs of Dementia?
http://www.webmd.com/alzheimers/news/20071031/more-than-3-m illion-have-dementia

Palin, Obama and Biden never referred to notes once during their speeches and the content was well over 50% new for Obama and 100% new for Palin and Biden.

He blasted the Republican party for the Deficit, Iraq/Afghan Wars, and the economy. Then he stated he was going solve all of those problems and put Russia back in the bottle.

The McCain speech was held in the Xcel Energy Center which has a capacity of 20,000 and I noticed several empty seats. Obama gave his speech in Mile High Stadium which has a capacity of 75,000. Over 84,000 crammed in to attend the speech.

Democrat folly
Like the Palestinians, the democrats never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity. Given their demographic advantage(s) and the very weak position of the Republicans this time around, all they had to do was nominate a modestly centrist candidate and they would have cake walked into the white house. But instead they chose a marxist crack pot and have tried to sneak him into the white house disguised as the first African American candidate of a major party. This is going to blow up not because of racism (after all Obama got the nomination because of a white majority vote) but so far Americans are not yet ready to become France. God help this world if America starts to eat brie instead of cheeseburgers.
Psssst!! Anybody seen Michelle?

A Good Orator...

So Obama can read from a telepromter and his activist training with ACORN(a somewhat radical/socialist group)has served him well in honing his public persona.

MCCain and Palin Rally in Colorado
Dennis doesn't mention the excitement and enthusiasm that is prevalent in the gatherings where McCain and Palin appear. IN Colorado, twenty thousand plus residents of the areas in and around Colorado Springs waited in line from 5 a.m. to be able to get into see their candidates who started speaking at 12:30.

The roars of approval and the cheers that greeted them were ear deafening!

The flags the Democrats tossed on the ground, and in the dumpsters at INvesco field were passed around to those in attendance! NONE were left lying at the end of the event.

Sarah Palin is making a difference and I hope she and MCCain win in November.

We don't need a socialist and his wife who declared capitalism as being made up of white supremacy and male dominated privilege and yet are running to be President and first lady of the country on wich capitalism is based!

The hypocracy of the Democratic party was clearly evident in their nominating party where they declare that the US is bad, yet Obama states: Four years ago, I stood before you and told you my story – of the brief union between a young man from Kenya and a young woman from Kansas who weren't well-off or well-known, but shared a belief that in America, their son could achieve whatever he put his mind to." We have a BLACK MAN running for the Presidency and a WHITE WOMAN for Vice President. THe only hypocracy is that of the Dems!

Leave it to an Oregonian
to care about how well someone reads a teleprompter and the amount of celeb kooks can fill a stadium. In case you haven't noticed more people are worried about Paris, Brittany or American Idol than the debt. The clueless left. Thanks for a continuous reminder.

Dems and Denver
Rogue Cowboy - eat your spurs dear - Palin and McCain had MORE VIEWERS by a few million than Obama!

Further, you forget to mention that Obama FED the crowd and had ROCK BANDS there to entertain them. Who wouldn't go listen to a man who contradicts himself for a free meal and entertainment??

Thank You Dennis!
#4: I agree...who would have predicted these candidates?
#6: I was impressed with the composure McCain showed while talking about his time in captivity. The faces of the Medal of Honor recipients left no doubt that this was a highly emotional moment in his speech.
#7: I'm "old school", like you, and I can't understand how any American could discard our flag. (Even a little paper flag on a toothpick!)

Thanks to you and Allen for your outstanding coverage of both conventions.
May God bless you and your families.

dims, pistolpacking, dims
1.Claim they're patriots by undermining our troops by inspiring the enemy in public.

2. Think by bankrupting the country going green and ignoring resources while the rest of the world prospers and dirties the air we can save the planet.

3. Want all illegals, felons and dead people(ACORN's favorite) to vote and get dims in power and push their failed agenda.

Notes and Teleprompters
Rogue cowboy - ever hear of reading off teleprompters? Huh? How about this from IBD??

Barack Obama was a founding member of the board of Public Allies in 1992.The real mission of PUBLIC ALLIES is to radicalize American youth and use them to bring about "social change" through threats, pressure, tension and confrontation — the tactics used by the father of community organizing, Saul "The Red" Alinsky.

More than 70% of its recruits are "people of color." "Don't go into corporate America," Michelle has exhorted youth. "Work for the community. Be social workers." Shun the "money culture," Barack added. "Individual salvation depends on collective salvation."
"It's a lot of talk about race, a lot of talk about sexism, a lot of talk about homophobia, talk about -isms and phobias."
One of those -isms is "heterosexism," which a Public Allies training seminar in Chicago describes as a negative byproduct of "capitalism, white supremacy, patriarchy and male-dominated privilege.""We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded" as the military, he said.
The gall of it: The Obamas want to create a boot camp for radicals who hate the military — and stick American taxpayers with the bill.

Intellectual Arguments
I find the comments Dennis received from the Air American audience fascinating. They deemed Dennis' arguments as "intellectual". I can only imagine what they must have been expecting.

Maybe this is the process of how hard-core liberals turn into conservatives. For the first time they actually hear a conservative speak and articulate a position! This instead of the caricature they have been fed.

Hopefully Dennis had a few "converts" that will secretly vote for McCain.

Buffalo Dad: 246 cheeses
Charles De Gaulle once famously asked, "how can you govern a country that has 246 different kinds of cheese?"

I have no idea, but have you ever considered putting an interesting French cheese on your burger? With some sauteed mushrooms and onions... Dude!

(Sorry, that should be, Le Dude!)

It's practically a cardiac arrest on a bun, so serve it with a robust Burgundy. You'll live longer.

(This message not brought to you by the Ministry of the Economy, Finance, and Industry of the French Republic.)

Mrs. Obama
Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama (born January 17, 1964) is an American lawyer and the wife of Illinois senator Barack Obama, the 2008 Democratic nominee for President. She was born and grew up on the South Side of Chicago and graduated from Princeton University and Harvard Law School. After completing her formal education, she returned to Chicago and went to work for the law firm Sidley Austin, on the staff of the Mayor of Chicago Richard M. Daley, and for the University of Chicago and the University of Chicago Hospitals.

So what is wrong with this picture. Her telling young people to stay out of corporate America and do social work. I wonder if she is available to work for social worker's salaries.

Watching Hillary
stumping for Obama, her facial expressions tell me she hopes John McCain beats him.

The one reason for her backing of Obama is to maintain her base in the party. She is looking ahead at 4yrs from now.

It wouldn't be a surprise to me if she & Bill actually voted for McCain.

Ignore the conventions
The conventions are showbiz. I'm much more interested in the candidates' long history than what they did yesterday. Everyone is on good behavior ever since they declared their candidacy. But what were they doing when they weren't pandering to the crowd? That's what they'll do when they get elected. (The overwhelming factor in my eyes is that the biggest element in Obama's sparse history was his leadership in the racist, hatemongering Trinity Church. He'd have to put that awful place at least ten years behind him to establish a credible track record as a man worthy to lead the entire nation.)

From Iraq
#6: I too have had the privilege of sitting in the company of MOH recipients and can attest to how humbling that experience is.

I have also had the pleasure of knowing and working with young men like the one featured here. An equally humbling experience.

The choice between spending time with a real American hero or someone who plays one on T.V. –there is no choice.

A Tale of Two Conventions

Lately, I have been getting into watching classics on DVD. Tonight, I again watched the Masterpiece Theatre version of A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens.

When I hear the Lefties working so hard to whip up the lower classes into a frenzy, apparantly hoping for revolution, or at the very least rioting, I think about the French Revolution, and the Reign of Terror which ensued.

For now, most of the people who are getting all in a lather over these elections are well off, but they seem to long to upset the masses, and to import even more poor people from other countries to get them really worked up over their lies.

I am fully expecting that if the Lefties lose this time, that they will escallate their frenzy, will generate more lies and spew more poison, hoping to intimidate conservatives into shutting up and going away.

When Dennis mentioned that many blacks on the left would see it as racist if Obama loses, I know it won't be everyone of color, but I have heard enough seminar callers who already seem to be convinced of lies about our great nation, I fear for the future of America.

Obama and Mrs. Palin are not young
Forty is not young. Obama is precisely the age when men begin to have their midlife crises, dye their hair, wear open necked shirts with medallions to show off their chest hair, buy convertibles and dump their wives for trophies. They do not call this mid-life because 40 is young.

FORTY IS NOT YOUNG.

Mrs. Palin and Mr. Obama are middle-aged adults.

Democrat Agenda from Saul Alinsky
I read this on a TH comment weeks ago and wrote it down because it seemed so appropro to current history and, quite frankly, it scared me a little.
Quote from Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals on his strategy of how leftist radicals should organize for mass power. "Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non challenging attitude toward CHANGE among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and CHANGE the future".

Not Necessarily A Gender/Race Thing
"The Democrats have a superstar candidate who was previously unknown, and the Republicans have a superstar candidate who was previously unknown. The former is a young African-American running for president; the latter is a young woman running for vice president"

No, you guys just don't get it. The Democrats have an unknown from a big city and the Republicans have an unknown from a small town. The media loves the urban guy because he's just like them and sneer at small town America, like they always do. You run to your gender and race demographics to try to sort out the poll data. How about sorting out who supports each ticket by town size (not county)? You know, poll takers ask the zip code of each respondent then present the data by town size. I think the increase in support for the McCain/Palin ticket after the convention is not drawn along male/female lines but along town size of the poll respondents.

SEND THE MESSAGE
Well over one year ago I was able to sit, watch and listen to an entire Obama stump speech and I was horrified.
Things are not going to "change", life is not going to be better for any of us unless we slash useless funding of outrageous government expeditures. Obama/Biden are not going to do that - Obama's socialistic agenda will add trillions of dollars to our annual budget. I truly believe McCain/Palin will cut, cut, cut spending, earmarks/pork barrel expenses, useless government programs - THAT IS WHAT WE NEED - cut expenses -by cutting expenses all of us will ultimately benefit and our country will remain strong. Palin needs to concentrate on one thing - BALANCE OUR BUDGET!!!! Obama's outrageous campaign budget alone signifies the type of spending we do not want any more - arrogant extravaganza, after extravaganza.
No segment of our society will ultimately benefit from the programs the Dems are suggesting - no segment - but every one of us will ultimately benefit by having realistic government programs - saving money day after day after day. I do not see Obama/Biden as the ones to accomplish this task.
John McCain knows what needs to be done!!!

Rogue Cowboy - Comment #3
So you counted McCain "referring to his notes 64 times", and "if we count count the off-camera he probably referred to notes every 30 seconds." You then imply that this could be an early sign of dementia!

The other speakers obviously prefer a teleprompter to notes. McCain is also not a computer user. Personal preference, yes. Behind the times technologically, yes. Dementia? No -- but you might have yourself checked for that.

Laura Cap
Nice point, Urbanites dont give small town folks any credit and absolutely dont see any worth there! Hey you elitist Urbanites the Small town folks out number Urbanites in America! I thank God for small town folks and small town ideas, without them we would be in big trouble, a look at Hollywood is a perfect example!

Racism?
If no blacks or hispanics want to be at the Repub convention, isn't that an obvious display of racism? Yep! How about 9-1 voting for Hussein Obama? Any US, or otherwise, muslims voting for Obama?

What I saw
At the Republican convention we were shown people who love and sacrifice for their country. At the dim convention we saw a lot of people who want government jobs.

NO KIDDING!!!
Quote:

This is only because, in general, most liberals see, hear or read conservative arguments far less often than conservatives see, hear and read liberal arguments.

You must first be able to listen to a premise or fact BEFORE you can make an informed and intelligent judgement about it. The democrats have not listened since FDR. They already have all the answers they are: RAISE TAXES, START A NEW GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENT, GIVE THAT DEPARTMENT POWER OVER THE ECONOMY AND THE PEOPLE,ERRODE FREEDOMS WITH SUPREME COURT DECISIONS, TAKE MORE POWER AND CONTROL FOR THE GOVERNMENT, CONTINUE TO DESTROY THE AMERICAN FAMILY AND MAKE IT MORE DIFFICULT FOR THEM, DONTINUE TO DESTROY AMERICAN EDUCATION, DESTROY THE ABILITY OF THE MILITARY TO PROTECT AND DEFEND THE NATION, AND OH, DID I MENTION, RAISE TAXES?

I can answer your dilemma in Point #6. Being a former Marine I would much prefer to spend time with a group of Medal of Honor winners than a bunch of empty, vapid, clueless Hollywood types. The Medal of Honor winners showed true courage in the face of life-threatening circumstances and acted in the best interest of their country and their comrades. Many of them did not live to receive their medals. The likes of Danny Glover, Michael Moore, Tim Robbins, Sean Penn, and the rest of the far-left Hollywood elites have no conception of that type of courage. I prefer the company of true heroes, thank you very much.

GOP lies
The story that Dems dumped flags in the garbage is a lie promulgated by Fox New's Cameron and he offered no evidence to support his claim. Fox News later apologized. Try getting news from a source other than Fox News and The Drudge Report for a change Prager.

It's Racism if Obama loses?
Point #5 above is really depressing. Can you imagine a situation in which Obama loses a close election...meaning millions upon millions of whites voted for him (as well as against him)...and the conclusion is that he lost because of white racism? Unbelievable.

Well, I guess so many AAs have been rigorously trained to believe racism is the root cause of every unfortunate thing in their lives that we shouldn't be surprised at the reaction.

And rioting? Oh well. What's new?

True Heroes
I would much rather sit beside Medal of Honor recipients than Hollywood celebrities. Thank God for our real American Heroes. Thank you to each of you who are fighting and have fought for America. God bless you!

Fox News Corroborated
Sorry, Phylo, but the Fox story was corroborated by many others, including a Canadian reporter who was an eye witness to dems throwing flags in the trash as they exited Invesco field. Fox News is the only big network that reported the story, but you can also find pictures of flags in trash bags on You Tube.

truth is our friend
Seriously, Bush's policies have been for the rich and have been hard on the poor. With Bush we've had record home closures and low saving rates and now 6.1% unemployment.

"Here’s the killer: inflation is a tax on the poor, because the rich benefit from inflation, since they can hedge their investments and thereby preserve their wealth, whereas the poor do not have access to such methods. If all an individual has is $800 in savings, how likely is it that an individual who needs liquidity just to meet basic needs is going to buy a Krugerrand?"

Pam
And what freebies are important to you?

Racism
Democrats are the absolute masters of defeating themselves. How will the chances in the next election be for them if they spark a race riot? Fools. Damn fools.

Cowboy
The thing is I never get the feeling that McCain wants us to worship him. He may look at his notes but I prefer his message.

Racism?
No blacks at the Republican convention? Does that fact imply racism? Blacks constantly complain that conservatives do not place blacks in high positions-- and then deride such appointees as Uncle Toms or House N---s. And 95% support for a black candidate is not racist at all? It's very simple----a black conservative is under tremendous peer pressure---and many times is not considered black at all by the mainstream black population. So who is racist? Other than the Japanese, who consider all non-Japanese to be barbarians, blacks as a group are the most racist. To them, everything is a matter of color.

Well Said, and Sadly true
"Racism
Democrats are the absolute masters of defeating themselves. How will the chances in the next election be for them if they spark a race riot? Fools. Damn fools."

In every area a democrat would be better for the well being of the American citizen, except those in the top 5%, and much better for the world. Only If 100,000 dead Iraqis could vote or the 5 mill displaced Iraqis wondering the world now n search of a home.

Whitewash, brainwash, hogwash
Taft - stop and consider what you are saying, for once. Since 1950 US unemployment rates have AVERAGED around 6%. That means we are currently back to average. For the past 7 years, the unemployment rate has been 4.7, 5.8, 6.0, 5.5, 5.1, 4.6 and 4.6. That comes to an average rate for the past 7 years of 5.1%. Would you now like to credit Pres. Bush for such a wonderful record over the past 7 years?

I wouldn't - because I don't view the President as some all powerful economic guru who can control the incredibly huge and complex US economy. But the President can have some effect, and there is NO QUESTION that his tax cut policies were beneficial to the greater economy.

Finally, if you want to keep yammering on about the "rich" you had better start including the likes of Feinstein, Pelosi and many other high ranking Democrats who are multi-millionaires and who have big stashes of Krugerrands in the bank. Pelosi is so rich and arrogant, she has blocked all attempts to drill for new oil in the US, which would have the result of immediately decreasing gas prices and helping lower income households!

Taft
This article is not about Bush.

Bush is not running this time.

He can't run this time, by law, or didn't you know that already?

Clearly you're stuck on Bush. I hope you get over your Bush Derangement Syndrome (BDS) soon.

In any case, before you post again, please read the column and then the thread and then make a relevant post that sticks to the topic.

It's about the two conventions, not Bush.

Again, it's not about Bush.

Are ya paying attention?

It's not about Bush.

Hopefully you are aware of this by now, but I am afraid your BDS might be so bad that you will still post about Bush at least once more.

Sigh.....IT'S NOT ABOUT BUSH!!!

Wasted Money
Obama wasted a lot of money trying to put on a show. That's all he is about anyway.

Pay special attention to number 5
This is a threat that’s going to gain traction as we get closer to November 4. I truly believe that a significant number of white people can be frightened into changing their votes by the threat of race riots if ObamaNation loses. Look for this race to turn on threats and intimidation. In fact, look for riots even if he wins – not unlike those in some NBA cities after the home team has won a championship.

I am not surprised
Having been a liberal and married to a woman who was as left as you can imagine it's not surprising the comments by lefties on this board.

Give them credit for being here. It takes a long time to get over being right about anything and everything. It took me almost 8 years, my wife a number of years and her brother came over about 10 years ago himself by listening to Rush Limbaugh for 1 min a day and then worked his way up to being a big fan and a convert.

I like Dennis Prager because he can bring liberals and Democrats over to the other side by being civil and giving the other side a break even though he completely disagrees. Rush does that too but he's so popular the MSM has made it their goal to misrepresent him and slander him at every opportunity.

When I finally realized that intentions were almost meaningless and that sometimes things that are good for the country as a whole may not be good for me personally I really started to become disallusioned with the Democrats and liberlism in general.

The big difference between DNC and GOP was one was a pander-fest and the other was a celebration of America and that we could over-come our struggles if we unite over love of country and not divide over self-interest.

I have found also that liberlism is the default position in life, with influence from the Media and Education. To be a Conservative takes a person willing to be un-pc, stand against peer-pressure and weigh both sides. In the end most conservatives have been through the fire and realize that even though liberalism may seem like a better way to go it's a lie, but people like to hear what they want to hear regardless of the outcome.

HA!Phylo no longer signs off "Phylo out"

Probably since we figured it out...

"Phylo out of his mind."

And the dims really think we "believe" they stashed those bags of flags next to dumpsters... get it, DUMPSTERS... with the intention of coming back to pick them up???

Geeze, Phylo, YOU might be that stupid, but we're not!!!!

Communists on Election in their words

"This fight is winnable, and there is an actual strategy to win, a strategy that consists of more than playing at revolution and calling for chaos in the streets.

Right now the elections are the most critical form of struggle; this is where we have the best shot of finally breaking the back of the ultra right. Afterwards, we will continue to build a united movement that can work to establish a real electoral alternative, and eventually to challenge the system overall.

Of course, a Democratic victory in 2008 will not solve all the problems caused by so many years of ultra-right domination, or by capitalism in general.

Swells of young people agree and have already stepped up to the challenge in the Democratic primaries, voting in record numbers and refusing to accept the idea that these elections don’t matter. In Iowa alone, the youth turnout rate more than tripled from under 21,000 in 2004 to over 65,000 in 2008, and it quadrupled in Tennessee despite the devastating storms that ripped through on Super Tuesday. Similar situations have occurred in all Democratic primaries to date.

And there is something to be said for the movement of young people that surrounds Barack Obama.

This kind of victory, which would include a total Democratic sweep in November, could set the stage for higher forms of struggle for generations to come."

how true...thanks for the comments.

I'm shocked and sickened about the flags being thrown away, tossed aside, trampled at the DNC Convention...and saddened that a liberal media will avoid the story altogether...liberalism before country must be their new motto.

What was the motto at the RNC convention..."Country First"...good thing the Dems didn't pick that one...

Tax Cuts
I hope this isn't a repeat but my first post got lost, apparently. Well respected and knowledgeable republican stalwarts like Alan Greenspan and Paul O'Niel have both been very critical of Bush's third tax cut and his fiscal irresponsibility. so much so, O'Niel quit and Greenspan told reporters Clinton was better for the economy!

Curtal Friar
You raise a good question – come January 20, what’s going to happen to all those BDS sufferers, since they won’t have a comparable figure on whom to project their rage? This may be the beginning of a golden age for psychiatrists.

Perhaps it will just morph itself into Palin Madness Syndrome, with a most suitable abbreviation.

Is that William Howard? Well I hate to break this to you but Alan Greenspan is a dim/lib. Paul O'Neil is considered President Bush's worst appointment and he was fired.

The Godfather
I just likes the name Taft and so use it. My real name is Russ.

Who considers O'Neil the worst appointment? Bush cronies?

Numbers 5 & 10
5 is sad because some people will always choose to see racism, no matter how fair things actually are, and those people will always dienfranchise themselves from opportunity.

Number 10 speaks volumes about how the Liberals browbeat and harass any Hispanic or Black who dares to identify him/herself as a Conservative. This is why I think that a good number of polled likely Obama voters are actually going to vote for McCain.

Dennis didn't mention contrasts in civility between the two conventions. Where were violent protests, and who was perpetrating them? Whose convention speeches were rudely interrupted by activists?

Jayhawk
Do your parents know you're playing on the computer? Don't post your ignorant comments here without some facts to back them up.

Taft
I like the name as well. It's a good handle. Can't recall specifically who did not speak well of O'Neil but it seemed to be somewhat universal among the MSM even the libs. As Yankee fan I just don't want this guy confused with our guy who used to play right field.

Ret.Geek #47 writes: "Communists on

Election in their words"

"This fight is winnable, and there is an actual strategy to win, a strategy that consists of more than playing at revolution and calling for chaos in the streets."

Did we see this outside the GOP Convention? We surely did, thanks to Code Pink.

And what did we see during McCain's acceptance speech? Code Pink RUDELY disrupting his speech.

(Oh, and did we see anything like that from the Republicans during Marxist Obama's speech? NOPE!)

IS THIS NEW? Of course not!

How many times in the past few years have we seen some wild eyed liberal or group of liberals DISRUPT a Conservative speaker? How about pies thrown at Ann Coulter in AZ, and liberals rushing the stage at Columbia when John Gilchrist (Minutemen) tried to speak?

How many times have we seen a Conservative, or a Conservative group disrupt a liberal giving a speech?

And you wonder why we suspect that there might be some truth to #5 "They did not even rule out the possibility of some rioting."

Leftists Easily Offended

Leftists are offended by racism unless it is by Louis Farrakhan, James Cone and Jeremiah Wright who want 'Black Separatism' and the destruction of the Whites.

Leftists are offended by anti-female statements unless they are directed at Sarah Palin.

Leftists are offended by racial profiling but not against 'Black Genocide' by Planned Parent hood - 1452 black babies everyday.

Leftists are offended by those who are Pro-Choice but NOT offended by babies left alone crying in terror without medical aid - Barack and Michelle Obama are the champions of this barbaric act.

Prager forget another theme
that he mentioned on his radio show last week. The Democrat convention talked a lot about how the government was going to give you this, and give you that, and fix all of your problems. It was a complete perversion of JFK's question: what are YOU going to give America?

It occurred to me the other day that JFK's famous question is really just a restatement of Christ's teachings regarding the duty of helping your neighbor. That should come as a shock to the crazies on Daily KOs who spend hours upon hours ranting about the evils of religion.

Make no mistake about this though - the "help" that Obama offers comes at a huge cost to your personal freedom and income. If you think that GWB failed to control the irresponsible and budget-busting growth of the federal government (which is true) then you ain't seen nothing yet if the Obamanation comes to pass.

Moral Compass
The Left ridicules the Right with its "religious nuts" and small town "rednecks". But the Right has a moral compass provided by that religion and old-fashioned values still found in small town America. On the Left there is nothing, in every sense of the word. Thus lies, distortions, riots and all the rest of it are just normal, accepted behavior. And whereas the Right sees Obama as an empty suit, the Left sees its own admired image of...nothing.

AudiR10 - 40's Not Young
You make some good points, but old/young perceptions depend on one's own chronological existence.

For example, to this 72 yr old combat vet, a 40 yr old woman is almost San Quentin Quail.

Longevity and genetics
If everyone's so concerned about McCain's age and enticed by Obama's relative youth, then let's examine their respective gene pools. McCain's mother at 96 is still mentally sharp and physically strong, while Obama's mother sadly died of cancer in her early fifties. About whose longevity should we be concerned?

I'd rather drink McCain's prune juice than Obama's Kool-Aid any day.

THRadio: Apparently daft, based on what

he's posted, is a part time substitute teacher, and picks up "odd jobs" now and then... by choice!

While daft continues to yammer on and on and on about the Republican 'rich' (NOT the demo rich, as you noted) he seems to be suffering form "Cognitive dissonance" and the typical liberal mentality.

He chooses his lifestyle, but then wants others who have chosen a different, more lucrative lifestyle, to SUBSIDIZE HIM!

This is all water under..
..the bridge. If Obama had picked Hillary, we'd have a tough race here.

He didn't. McCain/Palin will win in a landslide. Obama will be fortunate if he wind ten states.

National polls are meaningless. We don't have a national election in this country. We have fifty state elections.

Palin has energized the base, and will continue to do so as she trounces Senator Hairplugs in the VP debates.

McCain will pick up an obnoxious number of centerists/moderates on his own.

Finally Obama is counting on the youth/minority votes to win. As we all know the youth and minorities don't actually vote. No matter how many people P-Diddy tells they must "vote or die", and no matter how many convicts/dead people/illegal aliens ACORN (Obama's former friends) can register, they won't vote.

Thank God.

RD

What I saw at the two conventions...
is that they are both taxpayer funded pep rallies, nothing more. I don't care whether it was $15 or $15MM that were given to each side, why are we paying for any of it? If you want to have a party in order for 20,000 of your closest friends to feel better about themselves, fine, just don't make me pay for it.

"It Is Racism...
That fuels the far-right and it's hatred of Obama."

Quoted from Wikipedia
"The Republican Party was created in 1854 in opposition to the Kansas-Nebraska Act that would have allowed the expansion of slavery into Kansas. Besides opposition to slavery, the new party put forward a progressive vision of modernizing the United States—emphasizing higher education, banking, railroads, industry and cities, while promising free homesteads to farmers."
We were founded to combat slavery so your argument is way off base.

And Ill add that your party was so in favor of slavery that a large portion of it decided to walk out and create the Dixiecrat during the "48" DNC after Hubert Humphrey said "To those who say, my friends, to those who say, that we are rushing this issue of civil rights, I say to them we are 172 years too late! To those who say, this civil rights program is an infringement on states' rights, I say this: the time has arrived in America for the Democratic Party to get out of the shadow of states' rights and walk forthrightly into the bright sunshine of human rights!"

Its easy to play the race card but its futile when slavery was a goal for your party. And when Humphrey finally said its not right they vilify him!

The Dems have fostered a helpful attitude but rarley do anything to actually help. I say this because if they did truly help and keep to their words the ghettos would not be populated largley by Blacks. I find it far more racist to give people money to keep them in the ghettos. Your party has helped to hold the Black man down for decades.

Learn your history, I used to be a dem until I did the same. Once you read about the dems over the last century you probably would to.

Go Cavs
Well done. Just to add a little tid bit what did Jackie Roosevelt Robinson and Martin Luther King Jr. have in common? Answer they were both Republicans. Also the dims were on the wrong side of slavery and the Civil War as they are on the wrong side of the war on terror. Ironically they wanted back in 1864 to negotiate with the Confederate States who had no desire to negotiate with them. They just wanted to keep their slaves. Same now where they want to negotiate with terrorists who don't want to negotiate with them. They only want to kill them. When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn?

It’s a coincidence that a HUGE MAJORITY of a crowd of 80,000 ACCIDENTALLY dropped American Flags and FORGOT to pick them up. RIGHT! Anyone who believes that is dumber than Phylo. BTW, my favorite scene from the RNC was a Libtard Doper of a White Trash Hippie laying on the ground crying and wetting his pants are getting some M & N (Mace & Nightstick) Therapy.

Great job you did summing up the 2 conventions. I enjoyed all your broadcasts. I was most touched when I heard you retrieved the fallen flag from the ground at Invesco field and brought it home. You are very proud of our country and it shows!

On the two Convention
One obvious point my sister who is very independent, and believes Biden is an intelligent person, pointed out; at Dem. convention, they yelled, Yes, we can. At Republican convention, all you heard was USA, USA. There you go, that is the difference!
Whatever Obama says is on the basis of pride and arrogance, after a while that will get old too.

agree
I agree with Prager that the republican convention was way too white, with not enough diversity.

Mona writes: Prager "... retrieved the

Quite the metaphor, isn't it?

Speaks to just what Marxist Obama and his followers think of, and what their plans for our country will ultimately do.

Flags on the ground
Let me get this right. When a flag falls on the ground we just pick 'em up to be re-used at another event? Or, if we are real patriotic we pick 'em up to take home?
When a flag falls on the ground, we should burn it. That's the correct thing to do. I suppose the DNC didn't do this because of the environmental impact that it might have.

You said "Only If 100,000 dead Iraqis could vote or the 5 mill displaced Iraqis wondering the world now n search of a home".

How about the over 300,000 dead Iraqis as a result of Saddam's love and sympathy toward his people? Don't they get a vote? As a good liberal, I KNOW you want EVERY VOTE TO COUNT (unless you happen to live in FL or MI - or Iraq).

As for the 5 mill displaced Iraqis, they're coming home thanks to the US ridding their country of Saddam and his gang of thugs.

You do make the strangest arguments, but then you're a liberal, so you're excused. Logic and truth are complete strangers to liberal dogma.

Not that I either totally agree or disagree with you, but your post reminded me of the beauty that is divided government. You can argue that the Dems in Congress authored and enacted these policies (true), while those on the other side will claim that Bush is the one that signed them into law(also true). The beauty is that you're both right and everybody gets somebody else to blame. I know, I know Bush isn't running (and isn't really a conservative, anyway), but I have a feeling that if every Dem currently in Congress decided not to seek reelection or retire, you wouldn't stop blaming them for our current situation, just as the Dems will continue on with their BDS.

Taft Lunacy Alert
browsing through the comments I came across this from Taft ". In every area a democrat would be better for the well being of the American citizen, except those in the top 5%, and much better for the world. Only If 100,000 dead Iraqis could vote or the 5 mill displaced Iraqis wondering the world now n search of a home. "

Taft can NOT possibly be implying that AMERICA would be better off if Iraqis alive or dead in anyway have a say on who is elected.

I have been "over there" multiple times Taft I assure you that the only reason they would want most democrats elected was to weaken America. (they wouldn't support Sen Lieberman for his war stance or religion).

IF the Arabs and Persians had their way America would be a place 100% opposite of the things the left likes. (killing of gays, forced religion, no equality, no abortion, death to women for premarital sex, mandatory prayer in schools).

Now i believe in rational debate with liberals. I rarely call names and stick to facts but Tafts comment borders on insanity.

Oh richard: You are so funny! :-)

I've never thrown a flag away in my life. I can say with absolute certainty that a true patriot would find the act of putting an American flag in the trash about as appealing as throwing out a twenty dollar bill.

Believe it or not it is possible to love your country and be patriotic without being a communist or a loon.

The fundamental difference between the conservative and the liberal is what they hold most dear.

The liberal invariably holds himself/herself as the most important thing in the universe.

The conservative invariably holds things like God, country, and family most dear.

Pedaling Discontent

As a followup to my earlier comment, A Tale Of Two Conventions, where I mentioned the way the Lefties keep trying to whip up the masses with their vitriolic hate speech, probably hoping for revolution, I wanted to mention some of the methods they use to spread their poison.

First of all, the Left can make no headway if people are content. Therefore they do their best to create discontent on every level of society, from the well-to-do gay community that lack for nothing, so they make them feel bad they can't marry, to the illegal aliens, who are better off here than their home countries, but don't have as much as those legally here.

Usually the Left achieves this brainwashing through lies they plant in the MSM, and their over-the-top rhetoric and they mantras they repeat over and over until the unthinking accept them.

One of the worst examples is the way the Left keeps whining about the underfed in our society.

Anyone who has driven through Los Angeles, which is teeming with poor immigrants, can attest that the most overweight are the poor, who get plenty of free food from the government, from the churches, and from the restaurants where they work.

The most underfed are the wealthy, and when you drive through those areas, you see skelletal women who keep themselves thin in order to look like walking coathangers.

It is a LIE that the poor are starving in America, and yet the Left keeps trying to snag more and more money, claiming that it will go to feed kids at school. The children in the inner city are so fat, the City of Los Angeles has suspended the building of fast food restaurants in that area.

The task for conservatives is to stop holding out tongues and start speaking out against these lies, because appeasement won't work here anymore than it does overseas.

Congressional Medal of Honor Winners:
I've talked to two of them. Both said the same thing: They did nothing heroic. Instead they only did what they had to do at the time. A local girl just got a Silver Star from her time in Iraq. She said the same thing.

Yet I doubt that others could have done the same thing as well. They have my respect and I'm very glad I knew both of them. Someone who writes himself up for medals (like Kerry) only make themselves look worse when compared to them.

Riots will happen
Incidentally,

Anyone who thinks there won't be race riots in LA after Obama loses is kidding themself.

If they burn down their own neighborhoods when the Laker's win you can bet they will do it when they feel they have had their first president stolen from them.

Hygiene's lack of history
Hygiene falsly claims "The point is that we never had any business invading Iraq and it has been a quagmire ever since we did. The longest war in a long history of US wars. "

Not counting the War on Poverty and War on drugs the longest war is considered the Viet Nam war. Started with advisors in 59 but mass combat troops in 65 it didnt end until 73.

We still have troops in Korea and they still come under fire occasionally. We were in Bosnia for ten years and Kosovo for about the same. (I deployed to both in the 90s).

The revolutionary war lasted until 1783. It started with actions in 1774 but could also be considered the start in 1776 with the formal declaration of independance. That is a 7 year war and so it is longer then Iraq. (by the way afghan theater is also longer then Iraq).

The french and indian wars were 9 years but that is pre-revolution and the Indian wars of our midwest lasted longer then the 5 we have been in Iraq.

So far from the truth your comment is an obvious falsehood.

TinS
Most arabs and Persians have little understanding of our political parties. The republican war in Iraq has made the Persian's in Iran and AQ very happy campers. Mountain Rose has a good point about sticking to facts and it something we should all try harder to do. The Iranians are now in the best of terms with the Maliki government and the Badr corp, founded and trained by Iranians run the show.

We already had riots
What do you call the masked and organized terroristic style protestors smashing cars, vandalizing city property and breaking shop windows at the Republican convention?

Of course I support even code pink right to protest PEACEFULLY and demonstrate for their cause. Even civil disobediance has its place when done non-violently. But the destruction these rioters performed Already is just a taste of what is to come.
yet the American People will not be bullied and will rebel against that type prevocation every time.

Response to Drivel
So many who utilize this forum to debate, know not how to do so. Personal attacks clarify nothing, but further divide a country drowning in multiculturalism. The reason Native Americans lost to the white race, was because of their own division. Can we not stick to the issues?

william
"Anyone who thinks there won't be race riots in LA after Obama loses is kidding themself."

You're probably right, but I'm still voting for McCain. I don't believe in giving in to terrorists - even if they're American.

David A
Very well put and I for one, am going to make a concerted effort to "stick to the issues."

post 9/11
On 9/11 we were a nation of one again. Somewhere in between things went terribly awry.

After 9/11
After 9/11 we were all one because the liberals were in a moment of clarity.

Over time they drifted back into their cocoons where reality cannot penetrate.

Now as on 9/10/2001 liberals think the problem with the world is the USA.

Taft sticking to facts
taft you are the one that raised the Iraqi choice in our politics not me.

I agree in sticking to facts.
here are a few;

FACT: The badr corps you mentioned disbanded when the constitutionally elected government of Iraq stood up. Some of the officers of the corps joined the Iraqi Army, or went into Gov positions and some did not.

FACT: While iran does have influence in Iraq the biggest supporter of Iran was maqtada al Sadr and his forces were defeated by the Iraqi Army and Iraqi gov.

FACT: There have been extraordinary reconciliation recently between iraqi Sunni and Shia to the point the Shia led gov troops are now keeping peace in the Sunni Anbar Province (once the most violent) with little support from US troops.

Fact Sen Obama was very critical of Gen Petreaus in Sep and called the surge a failure:
quote"We've heard from the Administration and from many of our Senate colleagues this summer that we need to give the President's surge strategy more time before we can make a decision to redeploy our troops. However, two reports issued over the past week paint a bleak picture of the prospects of the current strategy. These reports reinforce the conclusion that there is no military solution in Iraq, that we need to get our troops out of the middle of Iraq's civil war, and that this war must be brought to a responsible conclusion.
Fact he was wrong!

Protestors at Dem Con?
I didn't get to watch all of either convention.

I didn't notice any insugent protestor activity at the Dem Con, but I did see two people try to interupt Joh McCain's inside the Repub Con.

I'm assuming of course that they were lefties, "leftist Insurgents" :)

Did any righties invade the floor of the Dem Con?

I was a volunteer at the RNC
And I saw none of the lack of enthusiasm in the crowd the liberal MSM was reporting in response to speeches, including McCain's speech.

As a matter of fact, McCain's admission that the North Vietnamese had broken him when torturing him was very moving. The silence at the X in St. Paul was not the result of boredom, but a sign of very intense attention.

Oh so liberal... daft sits out in CA

Comedic Liberals
There was a time I would watch a few comedies on tv or a funny movie. Also, always liked a good joke. That was before I got into reading posts and posting.

All that is in the past. Anytime I feel the need for a funny joke or story,I just come to townhall and read the liberals posts. Better than ANY sit-com.

The only thing that worries me is the mindset of these people. They are dangerously neurotic and in need of therapy. But let's face it,they are as funny as anything I have ever paid good money to watch.

If McCain/Palin wins,
and I hope they do, does that mean that we as a country will have thrown a racist temper-tantrum?

(paraphrase of the late Peter Jennnings' comment that the election of '94 was merely a temper tantrum)

Just askin'! :)

AliveInHim
Make that....just axin'.

Small Town Values
For years I couldn't understand why people continued to live in their small towns. Where are the world class restuaransts, museums, and the high life? But when I started to travel around the US, I made an effort to stay at the small Bed and Breakfast Inns in small town America. I realized the people that lived there were smart, down-to-earth, solid values, non-arrogant, good people, who maintained their identity as free Americans. So give me a small town mooseburger eating, ice-fishing, Hockey mom and a military hero who loves his country over a arrogant, socialist, spinmeister from Chicago any day of the week.

IT'S OVER FOR PALIN (TROOPERGATE)
I'd heard a rumor that Palin is going to be impeached because of the "troopergate" contorversy. The fix is in as the chief investigator states (before any facts are discovered and before any depositions) that it will be an "October surprise" and that it will be very damaging to the govenor.

I could have left military service years ago but chose not to so how dare you insinuate that I was in any way conned into this. What you can accuse me of, and which I will readily admit to, is being raised with and living by a set of values and principles which I hold dear and which I am willing to risk my life for. At the top of the list is a commitment to do whatever is necessary to protect my family and fellow citizens from being harmed or threatened by anyone, with the greater hope that my children and grandchildren will never have to do this. I and thousands of soldiers here with me know we are accomplishing this goal and we see it, up close and personal, every day.
What I know of the video is that the young man and his father made that of their own free will and openly shared it with friends to get their message out. This sounds more like an exercise of their First Amendment Rights rather than the exploitation you speak of.
Lastly, what is the difference between “opposition to the war” and “opposition to the job the troops are doing” when removing one annihilates the other? Make no mistake, an untimely retreat from Iraq such as the one Sen. Obama proposes will undermine everything “the troops” have done to date and we will face a stronger, more deadly and more determined enemy in the future and we will see more soldiers like Joseph in the video. No soldier wants to be here but we all know we need to be here. If you doubt that, I invite you to come see for yourself. I’ve got an open cot you’re more than welcome to use during your visit. Be sure to dress for the heat.
Don’t forget to say a prayer for our fallen tomorrow: 9/11/2008.

"If one only looked at the convention, one could easily have assumed it was the Republicans'. "

Yeah, if you're color-blind...
http://progressivejew.blogspot.com/

Military Experience & Lawyers
Not only does the Democrat Party ticket not have any military experience and two lawyers on its ticket but also the sons of the Vice Presidential candidates are going to Iraq - the Democrat son as a lawyer, the Republican son as a real soldier. The chances of a lawyer being involved in combat are nil to none.

Gaelforce4 vs. Higene
Thank you SO much Gaelforce4 for identifying yourself. May God
Bless you and your family for the wonderful job you do of protecting
us, and continuing to reinforce the values my family has. My husband
was a Navy fighter pilot, and we cannot understand how people such
as Higene can be so ignorant of what it means to be an American. Our
hearts break at the thought of people like Higene gaining ANY control
in our wonderful USA. We've traveled to 30 countries, and are so
grateful to be Americans.

The Ca guy sounds like he is quaking in his shoes in fear of a racial
riot. This time I believe the rest of the US citizens will not sit still
for the racially motivated riots. Bet Obama will not lift a finger to
prevent them if he loses.

Prager
This is one of the more thoughtful and non-derogatory columns I have read on Town Hall
in a long time. I saw nothing of either
Convention except Obama's acceptance speech and
then snippets on news channels, which typically
I avoid like the plague because they are no
long news, they are propaganda machines, and there is as much time spent on ads and piffle as there is on news.

Unfortunately, the posters did not follow suit
and rein it in. There is the usual crap all
over the place. The same old stuff being said
as if it is brand new. You know, calling
Obama a Marxist with glee & self-satisfaction,
calling him arrogant, suggesting that there is
something truly significant about whether the
crowd shouted USA or Yes we Can. Mygod, how
ridiculous can you get. I mean, really.

What I believe in my heart is if our citizens
are stupid enough to put anyone from the
Republican party in for another term, after the
last 8 year debacle and the growing realization
that Reaganomics is a disaster, than there is
very little hope for the USA. I think that it
will be only a short while before we split,
physically and we will no longer be united.

Guy
Does the Focus on Family hire you to do their
polling? Because I used to be a Republican,
I still get mail from Republicans all the time.
Much of it, along with asking for money, is
asking me questions. And they are very
leading questions, just like yours are. There is
nothing "scientific" about your questions at all.

Examples: Do you SUPPORT abortion?

Do you want higher taxes taken out of your pay?
(I don't want any taxes taken out of my pay,
don't want to pay my mortage either, but some
things are necessary).

Do you stand against the right of law abiding
citizens to own guns to protect their own
homes? - Hey Guy, do you support bringing guns
into schools and airports and businesses and
bathrooms? (I'll bet the answer is yes, but
you won't get near as many yeses on that one
from the general public).

Would be believe the gov't would do a better
job of raising children... (is there someone
out there who is trying to suggest that we
turn over the job to the Gov't?!? Oh, but
wait, what you are really asking is about
education. And my answer is, that unless the
parent in a trained teacher - and smarter than
you are - the answer is yes. The government is
better.

Is Israel occupying Palestine? Yes. They
should learn to live with each other in peace
or divide up the country.

Do you view Fundamentalists as .... I find them extremely irritating and controlling.

Do you think that some companies should be
taxed more... I think those companies who
overcompensate their CEO's and treat their
workers like peons should have new management
and a new set of rules.

I'm sure I'm out of room.

"GOP lies
The story that Dems dumped flags in the garbage is a lie promulgated by Fox New's Cameron and he offered no evidence to support his claim. Fox News later apologized. Try getting news from a source other than Fox News and The Drudge Report for a change Prager."

the story, if you care to read item 7, clearly references the Denver Post as his source for the discarded flags....(not FOX, or a FOX employee)....'nuf said!

Thank you and may God preserve you as you serve our great country! Our oldest son (USMC) gladly served (ordnance)at Al-Asad during both his tours and was lucky to be there when President Bush visited last time.

Stay safe!

The Dever Post got the scoop from the Fox News team. Truly, Fox News aims to bring America down. At least half of your fellow Americans are Democrats and you probably have friends who are democrats, it just doesn't do to stir up any more hate than there already is.

Do you really believe that it's possible to be TAXED into prosperity? Then by all means, send in all your money. You'll be rich beyond your wildest dreams in no time!

Reaganomics works only if you're willing to work yourself and then get to keep more of what you earn. The more money an employer gets to keep, rather than pay in taxes, the more he can expand his business, the more employees he can hire. That nets more revenue to the government since it can get more tax revenue from five employees than from one business owner. Not just from the taxes taken from his paycheck, but in every other transaction those employees make; sales taxes, property tax, auto registrations, etc.

Tell us again how Reagan was wrong?

Rogue Cowboy
McCains speech was watched by more people at home.

Oh and obama will make a change in the economy.

Change is about all you will have in your pocket when he gets done with you!

After the University of Ch. Hospital gave the wifey a two hundred thousand dollar raise they got quite a paycheck from the state thanks to the crook of a hubby.

These two are priceless.

Boy I am sure you are well connected to the information mill.

You just run along back to huffy post and dailykraut and tell them that none of those mean spirited republicans will take you seriously.

I know they would approve of putting a taser to a 10 year old as long as the child belonged to a conservative. But you scoot now because the game is over for you.

Repub & Dem Conventions
Rosemary #22. Wow, I am looking at the biggest Bank bailouts in years, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, high gas prices, etc., etc., that American taxpayers have to look forward to footing the bills to a total of billions of dollars. Ask yourself, how did this happen, how did we get there?? Huh - I already know. I am asking you. Godfather1 #26. Wow, you are phenonemol(sp)to be able to look into a crowd of thousands of people and then say one group of americans are proud and just want to work and just lovely people and the next crowd are just a bunch of americans who just want hand outs or government jobs. Explain how you did that? I'm sorry I just could not believe that.
Now I have been a conservative for years and I have had enough of the Dems now the Repubs. I have read just as much or more nasty, mean spirited, lies, mudslinging nonsense from both. I tell you what, get educated. It sounds like most of the readers on these blogs are not educated to history or the facts. Have a great day, take care of yourselves and love covers a multitude of sins.

"Machiavellian Songbird Prince?"

Wow, would you like to see if you could endure what McCain did? It is a disgrace to mock a POW that way, regardless of what you think of his politics.

The American Flag
Sad to say so many of the Democrats at the stadium in Denver felt that the American flag was disposable. For some reason this caused me to reflect on my childhood in Lafayette, La. where, if I had pulled a stunt like that I would have received a beating from my teacher or my Democrat parents depending on whether at school or home! I simply cannot fathom tossing an American flag to the ground much less placing one in a trash bag. Unfortunately this is but another illustration as to why J. F. Kennedy, if alive today, could not and would not possibly be a Democrat. God save us from ourselves.
t. brown - Hot Springs

Alive
Reagan thought it was a great idea to reduce
regulation in a number of areas so that business could have a go at it. Well, they had a go of it all right.

To name the most recent and therefore most
obvious example, the banking industry. There has been a lot of attempts by certain types to blame the victims here. But at best, you can call them not bright, but they are not criminally greedy as are the unregulated banks and bankers. The victims have not ruined other people's lives.

But why should banks be regulated? Oh, because
they hold everybody's money! Maybe we should
all go back to putting our money under our
mattress.

"The more money an employer gets to keep, rather than pay in taxes, the more he can expand his business, the more employees he can hire. Not just from the taxes taken from his paycheck, but in every other transaction those employees make; sales taxes, property tax, auto registrations, etc. "

****
That sounds oh so good and oh so logical. But
it isn't the reality. Ask all those people
who have lost their job because cheap pay was
not quite yet cheap enough. The stinkers had
to ask for insurance and paid vacation too.
And someday I would like to talk to you
about organizations like Wal-Mart. They
"agree" to come into your town if you will only
allow them to not pay property taxes, & in
some cases to keep some of the sales tax! But
surprise, surprise - they go into everyone's
town including some under 5,000. So where is
the benefit.

What I can guarantee you is that Big Business
knows how to play the game a whole lot better
than you or I do and they are making out quite
well, thank you. Unless they make a stinky
product, like big cars.

not hollywood
i would rather meet the medal of honor winners. i would just as soon not be to close to the hollywood scum, i wouldn't want to catch something.

the 10 poorest cities in the US
...it is not a coincidence that the 10 poorest cities in the US (not even counting New orleans) have had long unbroken strings of democratic rule. Why are people so blind to the situation and keep voting for the same people who promise them so much, but deliver so little. Hopefully someday the Republicans will figure out how to address and attract minorities into the party.

Commander In Chief Already
Subject: Governor Palin, Commander in Chief
Who Would You Trust With National Security? Obama, Marxist Community Agitator or Governor Sarah Palin, Commander in Chief Already?

Subject: Sarah Palin's Experience and Quals.....
SARAH PALIN'S SECURITY CLEARANCE

Before you dismiss the fact that Sarah Palin is Commander of the
Alaska National Guard, consider this:

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor
defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska
National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from
ballistic missile attacks. It's on permanent active duty, unlike
other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska , Palin is briefed on highly classified
military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her
exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's and
certainly by far exceeds Obama's.

She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense
Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into
Homeland Security's counterterrorism plans.

Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to
the entire country's defense. Given Alaska 's proximity to Russia ,
she may have security clearances we don't even know about.
According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in
February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to
keeping secrets.

She can be entrusted with our national security, because she
already is. . . . her experience in keeping the homeland safe fits perfectly with her image as the competent American woman.

Compare her Experience and Resume with the Messiah Obama's???

Governor Palin, Commander in Chief Already, wins hands down.

Taft wrote:

First of all, it is spelled "Denver".

As to your idiotic claim that "Fox News aims to bring America down", can you even connect two dots on a blank piece of paper? I seriously doubt it if that is what you call logic.

I guess that is the reason Fox News is so patriotic and pro-America compared to the rot that infects the MSM. So Fox News is just pretending to be patriotic so they can be spit on by so many people on the East and West coasts? How clever of them!

Your argument is about as worthwhile as a screen door on a submarine.

Is Barack Obama the new African Caesar?
Good point Mr. Prager about television and audience perception during both conventions. I admit that Barack Obama blew away his audience at the Democratic National Convention. But, as this editorial makes clear, so did Chris Matthews on MSNBC when he called Obama the new Caesar Africanus.

http://www.culturekiosque.com/nouveau/comment/obama_convent ion_caesar_africanus228.html

My Thoughts
I attended several meetings at the RNC each day - before the evening festivites. Dennis was at atleast three with me. In an attempt to be fair and balanced, he spoke about the Ds being good people, albiet misguided. I feel the Obama camp has vilified the GOP and this race is all about face! Latest polls show 98% of the Black vote for Obama. I am sure his loss will spawn a "Xmas shopping" opportunity. My money and yours won't be made available to the people who do not work so why not riot and loot? They handed out flags at the DNC, at the RNC we did not have to!

Now that I am home and running a ground game...I can say that I have never seen a candidate willing to spend so much money to get to the White House. Over 700 paid staffers in PA. How is that for the po' folk? No one questions the vast amount of money that he could have used for community organizing and have taken federal monies for the campaign. Black neighborhoods in Philly and Pittsburgh have assigned block captains.

As for Mac reading his entire speech - sorry, bud, I was next to the podium
and he read some of it but used it mostly for bullet points. They all had their speeches up and in a small venue it is hard not to look at it. There were also 45,000 crowded in to Xcel Center - I had to stand in an isle and I had full credentials- where did someone find empty seats?
I was between the code-pink moonbats during the scuffle.

November 5th will be here and like it or not - there will be a winner.
