Do you feel the leaked information from a global warming alarmist organization is meaningful?

Those who label Ann Coulter an anti-Semite do damage to the battle against anti-Semitism.

I say this as a committed Jew, a religious Jew, a Jewish writer and lecturer, a past college instructor in Jewish history, co-author of a widely read book on anti-Semitism, recipient of the American Jewish Press Association's Prize for Excellence in Jewish Commentary, instructor in Torah at the American Jewish University, and a man who has fought anti-Semitism all his life.

There is nothing in what Ann Coulter said to a Jewish interviewer on CNBC that indicates she hates Jews or wishes them ill, or does damage to the Jewish people or the Jewish state. And if none of those criteria is present, how can someone be labeled anti-Semitic?

What damage has she ever done to Jews? What is wrong with a person believing that it would be better if another person adopted their faith? Is there one liberal who doesn't believe that a conservative would be better -- "perfected," if you will -- by embracing liberal beliefs and values? Why is it laudable for a liberal to hope that conservatives convert to liberalism, but dangerous and hate-filled when a Christian hopes that Jews or anyone else will go to heaven (that is, after all, Ann Coulter's and most other Christians' primary concern) by believing in Jesus?

I have read Jewish and non-Jewish writers who argue that Ann Coulter's words will lead to another Auschwitz. How does one respond to irrationality? How does one respond to hysteria?

There is also a move to boycott Ann Coulter, so dangerous are her words. Of course, there is no such Jewish or liberal boycott of former President Jimmy Carter, who has done real damage to the Jewish people by describing Israel as an "apartheid" state in the very title of his anti-Israel book. In fact, Carter was invited to speak on his loathsome book at Brandeis University, an ostensibly Jewish university. But for many Jews and liberals, real hatred, real damage to Jewish security can only come from the right, especially from Christians on the right. So Ann Coulter, who has done nothing in her life to compromise Jewish welfare, is to be boycotted, but Jimmy Carter is worthy of invitations to speak. Jewish groups even invite John J. Mearsheimer and Stephen M. Walt, the authors of "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy," which is essentially a tempered modern-day version of "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion." But Ann Coulter is beyond the pale. And she said nothing to harm Jews.

She said she believes that Jews who accept Jesus as their savior are "perfected." I fail to see why this is some form of hate-speech, let alone the basis of anti-Semitism, as stated by Abe Foxman, director of the Anti-Defamation League, which often defames conservative Christians, whom he and his organization hold to be the greatest domestic threats to America.

As a practicing Jew, I do not agree with Ann Coulter's theology any more than those attacking her do. But I am neither offended by her nor frightened by her or her beliefs. She believes that Christianity is better than Judaism. So what? Why is that in any way different from liberals thinking that liberalism is truer and morally superior to conservatism? Or conservatives thinking that their values are superior to liberal values?

Liberals not only believe that conservatives are philosophically imperfect, but they often believe that conservatives are bad human beings (something in no way implied by Coulter about Jews). Howard Dean has said that conservatives don't care about children who go to bed hungry. Liberals yearn for a world without conservatives at least as much as most believing Christians want a world without non-Christians. The difference is many liberals are immeasurably more likely to impose their views on others than Christian Americans are. Liberal judges impose their views -- e.g., on same-sex marriage -- on society. And liberal educators force young students to watch Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth," the former vice president's hysterical beliefs about impending doom -- and offer no countering viewpoint.

As fate and irony would have it, this past Sunday night I was the keynote speaker at the Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas. Since 1981, the church, led by Pastor John Hagee, has had an annual "Night to Honor Israel." Five thousand Christians came to this year's event, where they heard and sang Hebrew songs and watched their pastor give $8 million to various Israeli and Jewish charities.

Those are Ann Coulter's people, and they are, by and large, the best friends the Jewish people have today. And since Judaism teaches that we judge others by their behavior, not their beliefs, this Jew thanks them. And fears those who fear them. One day, God forbid, should there be real anti-Semitism in America, these hysterics will have cried wolf so many times that no one will listen.

Why doesn't she GO AWAY.
It's because of people like her that the Republican Party is now a "southern state, redneck party." Oh yes, and the greedheads on Wall Street hawking their CDO's also helped to destroy the Republican party along with the clueless George W. Bush. Now that the economy is destroyed my family will be going from being upper middle class to lower middle class, as soon as we lose our jobs due to the real estate market totally tanking. So I won't have any reason to vote Republican in the future...I can now look forward to losing my house, losing my health insurance and losing my life savings. Maybe my husband can get a job "driving a cab" or "painting houses" or becoming a Walmart Greeter at age 50.

Amazing how libs hate free speech...
when a conservative is talking. They result to name calling and the typical they are sexist, homophobic, racist, etc. But, when its a dictator like the Prez of Iran, they bow in submission. God help us if a Fascist shrew like Hillary becomes president. She already wants to silence any conservative on the radio. Who is next?

Aside from Ms Coulter, Being a Christian
begins simply as a matter of faith in the person of Christ. Though it should not be, the fact is a person's faith in Christ may not always conform to who Christ is. (But, can anyone say they are always consistent with their belief?). But behavior doesn't change the fact of his or her faith in Him. And it is that simple faith in Him that unites that persons indissolubly with God.

What a Gospel, what a salvation.

Christian?
The Basics of Christianity says,

Christ's Words, "The one who believes in the Son has eternal life. The one who rejects the Son will not see life, but God’s wrath rests on him." (John 3:36)

Now ask the question, who is a Christian?

just one problem
Is Ann Coulter Christian? Seems doubtful. She exploits the political implications of Christianity.

Offended?
Clusiana writes:
"I'm offended by Christians who go after Jews in order to convert them."

Than you are offended by Christianity since it is a Christians duty to bring the word of God to everyone. Waiting til the end times is a little too late and it's not very loving of a Christian to just hope that someone will "find" their way to Jesus somehow.

Astounding Clarity as Usual
Dennis,

You are truly one of the most objective commentators out there. Kudos to your writing and commenting with clarity.

I have a love-hate thing with Coulter - she's funny, and has a sharp recollection of history, but while her strategy sells lots of books, it's not a winning approach to advancing the cause of conservatism when she criticizes the likes of Huckabee and Thompson as she did. Particularly when Huckabee is arguably the most consistently principled conservative in the race with both the experience and ability to win.

I would like to see you invite him on your show to see how much you have in common. Ask him about the time he took his daughter to the Holocaust Memorial in Isreal.

Jews who have Converted
Check out EWTN, Journey Home Program 8:00 et. I assume on your cable/satillite (sp) system.

What Offended Me...
Thanks, GPC007. You are right. As for Jews converting to Christianity. Leave the Jews alone. They may find their way to Jesus.Or they will wait until the end times. I'm offended by Christians who go after Jews in order to convert them. I suppose a Jew could think his religion is/was superior. After all, the Christian religion was founded by practicing Jews. We would do well to learn from our Jewish brothers and sisters. There are many prominent Jews who have 'converted.' I am inspired. I love my Jewish uncles.

Jim P
If you mean by smug..arrogant then you best look into the mirror. You seem to be the only one believeing to have the "correct" answer. Everyone else is wrong to you, this is truly smug.

It is I who have focused on the word of Hashem as given completely to Moshe at Sinai. It is you who are rejecting the word of Hashem in favor of the idolotry of a man. How ironic that you miss it! A 6 year old yeshiva boy has forgotten more Torah than you seem to know.

I cannot stumble on something that does not exist. If this gets you to be a decent person good for you, but this has nothing to do with the word of Hashem.

Yes, the Jews did sin witht he golden calf. As a christian I doubt you want to distance yourself from a major event in Jewish history. And now it is only the Jews, not christians that will usher in the Moshiach by following hashem's word.

Go believe in your idol if it makes you a good person and keep watching from the sidelines.

No, I understand completely and
you are smug. The point is I don't need to know or be aware of 'Hashem's plan' , I know God's Word. The only standard by which everything else is measured not your 'oral law'. A six year old is able to correct you using His Word.

But as I said earlier in this entire discussion, Christ remains that Rock of offense that men, like you, still continue to stumble on.

Whether you or anything else who miss Him, every things else is a distraction and a ruse.

By the way it was the Jews started with the golden calf stuff. Guess they're still at it.

Jim P
Sorry to diappoint you,but I do not feel smug at all. To be smug, I would have to feel that I am correct and that you are in fact wrong. You fail to understand that this is NOT myy view at all. I do not find your false hope in a Jew and the ramblings of his followers in correct at all. You can believe them and pray to him all you. The point is that it is meaningless to Hashem's plan.

I am not arrogant at all. As the great sage Nachman of Breslav says: "Ani Klum". I am nothing. Everything is Hashem's holy word given to Moshe Rabbeinu who would love me and find the idol worship of Jesus no different than building a golden calf.

This revelation includes the oral law of which you are not even aware and without have no ability to understand the word of Hashem, thus your delusion.

please understand yuor false hope in Jesus is simply of no consequence.

Mr. Barak,
Your smuggness is no different than the smuggness of the haughty Roman Catholic, or the smuggness of the Hindu Mystic, or the smuggness of the Oriental Buddist, or the smuggness of the 2nd Cent. Greek Gnostics or Jahovah Witnesses. And your message is not just irrelavant it is pernicious, deceptive and deluding. With it you delude the world into a false and empty hope. And what you call irrelevant is the One and Only hope for an enslaved world.

But again, you found your 'comfort zone' and are two timid to even read that which would challenge your nonsense.

"But the grass withers and the flower fades but the Word of God stands."

And like the system of belief you've so cleverly constructed, your pride in an esoteric knowledge you so proudly tout will fall before that Word.

You may insult me about my brightness or lack of it but your insult is aimed at God's own Word and Therefore God Himself. And if your precious Moshe Rabbeinu is a righteous man, one who honors God's Word, He is ashamed of you right now.

And 'if' the New Testament is also that Word you so blithely compare with with the writings of Harry Potter you will be finding yourself finding God.

From Heeretz
"I was wrong to see her as some highly intelligent, well-educated, perversely gifted panderer to the lower common denominator. I was wrong to see her as some overqualified infotainment shock jock. I should have taken her seriously.

Ann Coulter is my enemy. Ann Coulter is the kind of patriotic, persuasive, powerful American who is precisely what is wrong with America."

....

Coulter
The saddest thing about the Coulter flap is there are people who will try to pretend she has any moral agenda. she wants to sell books and laughs at Christians like Bush's brain, Rove, who called them "nuts."

Jim P
I took your point Jim. I simly rejected it.

And this you see if the problem. Your "comparison" of catholic tradition bears out your incompleteness.

The Mishanh was delivered to Moshe Rabbeinu on Sinai. It is the Hashem's word. Know originally as the Oral Law, it is central to Jewish belief. Jesus himself as a practicing Jews believed in what you seem to not even have knowledge of.

While you wish it were not so that I reject Jesus, that is the difference between us. I do not find your belief sad, wrong, or even silly. I simply find it irrelevant. Of no meaning or consequence.

BTW, quoting new testament verus to an Orthodox Jew is not a particularly bright idea. I did not even botehr to read the quote. It carries about the same weight with me as a paragraph from the newest Harry Potter book.

Bob,

I am not comapring secular Jews to secular Christians (if there is such a thing), or even to Reform Jews as your extended family must be as you use the term Temple not shul.

I am comparing professing Religious Christians of whom I know many, to Orthodox Jews. In this comparison I think you will find the knowledge by observant Jewws to be far superior.

Ann Coulter
By Coulter's logic, a perfectied Christian would become a Moslem.

Thanks Bob
but Mr. Barak's seems more concerned that people know the Mishna than God's Word.

Who with a straight face can place the two together on the same level?

Mr. Barak can.

Sadly, Jews, as with the Roman Catholic Church (as you rightly point out), know more about Judaic texts or traditions then about God's own Revelation about Himself and the world.

Barak-right and wrong
While I would agree with you that most Christians, sadly know very little about the Bible, I would submit that your assertion claiming jews are better informed with regards the the Torah, is untrue.

I have found both camps to be sadly ignorant of their scriptures quite frankly. And I have met significantly more secular, non practicing jews, than I have the more religious variety.

My own extended jewish family has perhaps a collective ten hours spent in temple in the last decade. My Christian relatives are similarly absent from church much of the time. In short, we all need to do better at following the teachings we claim to believe in.

Mr. Barak,
I was drawing an analogy with your method of understanding Truth and The Roman Catholic Church's. Sorry you missed that.

Whether anyone knows the Mishna or Roman Catholic Tradition or not, it is the principle of equating either of them with Scripture what is pernicious. Contray to your claim and Roman Catholic's.

But we know how strong tradition is.

Christ's Words are better then mine,

Mark 7
Then He said to them, clearly, you trash the command of God so that you could hold on to your tradition. Indeed, Moses said, honor your father and your mother, and the one reviling father or mother he is to be put to death. But you are saying, "if a man should say to father and to mother, "Corban (which is Gift), Whatever from me you might have benefited."
Now, you no longer allow (free) him to either do for his father nor for his mother, nullifying the word of God by your tradition, which you hand down, and you do similarly many such things.

But like the Roman Catholic Church, you're comfortable with this way of handling God's truth, so case closed I guess.

I wish it was not so.

Jim P
Maybe you should go study a bit. The Mishnah has nothing to do with the Catholic Church. The simple fact that you are not even familiar with basic Judaic texts shows how incomplete your knowledge is.

The Mishna?,
I'll stand by my comment though you judge it inane. Your measure of the Torah is not much different than that of the Roman Catholic's Church measure who equate Holy Scripture equally with tradition.

Sorry, but the Mishna as Roman Catholic tradition is not the Word of the Lord, revealed Truth. But your happy with it that's what matters.

Jim P
Hmmmmmmmmm

Well I clearly made my statement about the 99% as a poke at your generalization. Sorry you missed it.

I know that this is not a religious thread, but cannot resist a reply to your inane comments about completeness. Unfortunately for you, it is not the Jews who miss being complete, but you. Once you have gone and studied Mishnah which completes the Torah then you will be complete. Until then keep faith.

What Offend Me
I am a Jew and I am not offended by Ann Coulter.
I am offended by the fact that 80% of my fellow Jews consistently vote for a party headed by anti-semites like Jimmy Carter, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.
I'm offended by the fact that so many of my fellow Jews slobber over the New York Times, a paper that has a great deal of sympathy for Palestinian bombers and terrorists.
I'm offended by the Jewish "civil rights" or "1st. amendment" attornies, that O'Reilly seems to have on every other night, who would do everything in their power to defend terrorists who would slit my throat, my families and every other Americans in a second.
That is why this Jew finds offensive, not Ann Coulter.

Together We Are Stronger!!
I think she should not have used the term "perfected". I think that she probably meant that it would be better for Jews if they did believe in Jesus since Christians believe you need to believe in Jesus to go to heaven. I think wishing this for people is a good thing since I think most would agree going to heaven is a good thing. If you read the part of Dennis' article regarding Dennis' speech at Pastor Hagee's church for The Night To Honor Israel, then you know how many Christians came together to Honor Israel and Jewish people. Christians have much love for the Jewish people. Jews & Christians need to continue to come together. Together we are stronger. Together we can fight the evil people who want to do us harm. Whether or not we agree on Jesus or not we still share much of the same beliefs and values. Christians & Jews unite to make this world a better place!!!

Barak,
You say blanket statements are non productive then then say 99%. So, the word MOST is a generalization and 99% is not? Interesting way of looking at things.

Neither of us can 'prove' either statement so your remark has as much validity as mine. But I can say this. What the Christians do know of the Bible is more 'complete' (Coulter's word for 'perfect') then the Jews. Since the Jews Bible is not complete by stumbling over Jesus. For Christian Gentiles found out the The God of the Jews cares as much about them as He does about the Jews. This the Jews haven't figured out yet.

Jim P
Your blanket statement about Jews knowledge of the bible is far off the mark. It is of course obviously non productive to make sweeping generalizations.

I would say however that any 3rd grade yeshiva bocher knows more bible than 99% of the christians out there.

RGonz71
While I do not disagree with your overall point. I will take issue with one statement.

"Jews wish everyone were Jewish"

This is actually not the case at all. There is not concept in Judaism of proselytizing. Religious Jews find non Jews beliefs irrelevant.

Ann is not afraid to own Jesus.........
You got to be kidding me. What is the big deal?! Don Deutsch ask her a straight question. She truthfully answered it. He's offended when recieving a direct answer to his question? She didn't say she wanted Jews to become Christians. She was asked should Jews become Christians. She answered yes. What was she suppose to say. What does the New Testament say? So, two thousand years later......

What a oh so sensitive easily offened guy. like a girl. a little anti-Christian too. I thought she was funny and teased him like a sister. And now she's a anti Semite? She was surprising bold for her faith. Though she really needs to surrender her life. But, Don't ask a direct question if you don't want a truthful answer.

Everyone is so easily offended like children. What silly controversy.

Don't apoligize for Jesus Ann.

Danny

Ann Coulter speaks from divine love-----
Happily, God created mankind with total freedom to choose all things including our choice of religion or irreligion. That means we are all, therefore, individually responsible for our choice in that regard as in all others. Jews, Islamics, Buddists, Mormons, Watchtower, Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, Catholics, Episcopalians, Lutherans and whatever are all individually responsible before God for their choice of the ultimate moral principle by which they live, and that responsibility cannot be shifted to someone or something else by any sophistry possible to the human mind. By their free choice of that supreme life principle, they thereby choose their eternal abode, heaven or hell. Though I cannot make what I am certain is the correct choice for them on their behalf, I can seek to move them in the right direction so they have a better chance of making an enlightened choice of God's life principle as taught by Christ Jesus. This is all anyone can do for another spiritually, and sometimes it is enough to rescue someone from a faulty choice that ultimately misses heaven. That is all Ann Coulter is talking about, challenging non-Messianic Jews who are incomplete as Jews without Christ Jesus (a Jew himself) to become what the God of love wants them to be so they can be with Him forever in heaven. That is not something to fear; it is rather agape love, pure and simple.

JimP
And there it is. In one sentence you have captured the swirling, elusive, cloud of emotion that roils when the name of Jesus is mentioned.

That is the issue. "What will you do with Jesus?"

A stone to make men stumble and a rock to make men fall. Amen.

easily offended...
Coulter wants all jews to become Christian...which apparently to the left is as bad as saying you want them to be gassed in a concentration camp. Yet another example of the inibility of the left to draw clear obvious distinctions.

Coulter says jews would be perfected in Christ...so she is an anti-semite. Well by that criteria Christ himself was an anti semite, having made essentially the same claims numerous times in the gospels. If a Jew thinks I am not a chosen one, because I am not jewish, that does not offend me. Neither should jews be offended when Christians claim that their teachings are the right ones. As long as neither side tries to convert the other by force, who cares?

Mountain Rose
When Hillary speaks, she greatly resembles Hitler (not that surprising as they are both lefties (socialist fascists)).

The first amendment
did not create a perfect world - it just gave the various worldviews a place in which they are free to come to blows. So why be upset because they come to blows?

talisman
Yawn,,,burb,,,fart,,,what else did you say talisman?

Does anybody think talisman, and lilly get sexually aroused by the things coulter says?

Liberal fantasy land!
As Rodney King said "Why can't we all just get along?" Liberals live in that world and for them that is their mantra and anyone who veers from it is intolerant, bigoted and needs to be silenced. Years ago the philosophy of most thinking people was "agreeing to disagree". This philosophy led to the opening of the minds of those involved in debate, and a willingness to hear all sides of an argument. At that point it was agreed that we could "agree to disagree". Such humane discourse is going the way of the dinosaur. Ann Coulter states what she believes (I believe the same), and does so because her faith is based upon the truths she sees as she reads scripture. But unlike radical Islam she would never in any way forc, or coerce others to accept her beliefs. It's ironic that libs are so willing to defend those who would coerce them if they had the power and they condemn those who would never do that. They (liberals) are truly childish and live in fantasy land.

Think before you write please.
DB says:

"I am an Orthodox Jew and I find Mr. Prager's (and other fellow Jews on this) defense of her blatantly offensive remarks about Jews needing to be "perfected" shocking."

So you're saying that Jews are perfect already? She wants Jews to be perfected (which means to become better than they are) and you have a problem with it? I would say the person who does not want them to be better than they are is more offensive than the person who wants them "perfected".

It about Christ,
He's the stumbling stone, or the corner stone, or the cap stone or the rock of offense.

He is the sword that divides, and the question that begs the answer from every man, women, and child, "Who do you say that I am?" and "What shall I do with Jesus who is called the Christ?"

This here is the source of indignation, everything else is a ruse and distraction.

So?
LWNYC says:
"hmmm..let's see someone says their ideal america would be one in which everyone is a christian but there is nothing anti semitic about their words. Tell me what I'm missing here."

The point.

Jews wish everyone were Jewish.
Islamists wish everyone were Islamic.
Christians wish everyone were Christian.

It's so obvious that people are only seeing what they want to see in her comments. If you're a Christian that does not want everyone to come to Christ then you probably need to go talk to your Priest/Pastor.

len
Sorry, I’ve been teasing more than I should, but do you recall your initial comment to me. I don’t like racist humor and commented about a tasteless Jew joke. You accused me of having no sense of humor and wanting to ban books like Huck Fin. No, I don’t want to ban books and yes I do have a rather refined sense of humor. I thought my responses to you were hysterical. B-doc is allowed to make any joke he wants. I don’t want to censor him. I’m allowed to state that I think that kind of humor is not only wrong, I am skeptical of the kind of man who would enjoy it. Tell me, do you think it’s funny to watch a cripple fall and struggle in the snow? If so, fine, stand with B-doc. If not, you stand with me. It’s ok either way. The point is that I’m not PC. I’m not in favor of censorship. I just believe in things like class and taste, all of which have nothing to do with the topic. I made my position clear about that from the start.

There is a “with us or against us” mentality around here. Everyone is classified as liberal or conservative and you receive approval or disapproval based on what camp you’re in, not on what you actually say. There is very little truly independent thinking done here. To me, right is right and wrong is wrong no matter who you are and all are equally accountable. All my comments are based on that.

After all the absurd
positions taken on Coulter's comments, one wonders if the atheism debate isn't really about atheists' intolerance for theists, and an attempt to shut them (us) up??

mikeR
is somethiing bothering you? do you have complexes?I am trying to figure what you are saying; give me a break, I might be mentally challanged to use the current lingo.

State your point in simple Engish what it is you are trying to say and then I might be able to agree or challange it.

I use an electric bush and do not discriminate for fear of being hauled before some on the grounds of discriminaoin.

Most Jewish People are just
plan ignorant about their own Bible History and the prophecies concerning the nation of Israel. Most Bible believing Christians know more about the History of the Jews than do Jews.

The arguements go past each other.

Many Jews and most of the world don't like to argue the Bible. Why?

There's Christian saying, Staying in the Bible keeps you from sin and sin keeps you from staying in the Bible.

But knowing the Bible is a culture and language that most of the world could care less about. The world and God's Word have been at war since Adam and Eve. All people, Jews and Gentiles, are caught up in that war and if the Bible happens to be accurate the winner has been proclaimed,

Rev. 19
"Then I saw heaven opened and here came a white horse! The one riding it was called “Faithful” and “True,” and with justice He judges and goes to war. His eyes are like a fiery flame and there are many diadem crowns on his head. He has a name written that no one knows except himself. He is dressed in clothing dipped in blood, and he is called the Word of God."

And if he Bible is accurate, "At the name of Jesus every knee will bow–in heaven and on earth and under the earth– and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father."

So ignorant world take whatever comfort you can in your short lived ignorance, it won't last forever.

baseballdoc
Gee, I guess that means your jokes don’t work.

Len: PC liberals like you don’t appreciate laughing at the handicapped. I can tell by what you write that you brush your lower teeth harder than the upper.

len
I doubt that DB guy is really Orthodox Jew.

He reminds me of those Lefties who pretend to be conservative and say something stupid like

"Well I'm a life-long Republican but when George W Bush put into place his tax cuts.. well... that was just too wrong and I had to leave the party"

wherever ann goes;watch out
one can only smile; if one reads the two posts before mine,
one sees the beginning of a civil war between 2 orthdox jews;

little did Ann' s mother knew that she cute, skinny,
vriginal? mischief maker; we;have

al queda started civil war between shities and sunnis

and now we ann and prager starting a civil war
no worry; we are civil in the usa; only words

life would be dull without Ann; three cheers for her; who needs boredom and dullness

everyone is so serious here; get a life; there are no gas chambers in her garage; you are all safe; relax

DB
Nonsense. I am also an Orthodox Jew and find it shcoking that you are shocked.

What is your opinion of Christianity. What is your response to a Christian who asks you about Jesus. I would suspect your answer to them is to not only dismiss the divinity of Jesus, but further to consider any conversation of Jesus to be simply irrelevant. Jews are the only ones required to hold to the covenanant with Hashem, non Jews do not have a responsibility to help usher in the Moshaich. And I would agree. So what?

But cannot you see that if a Christian wanted to find this offensive, it could certainly be constued by them as just as offensive, if not more so, than Christians being perfected Jews.

If you really are a Orthodox Jew you are far to sensitive. Have you gone to Sderot and davened with the Jews there? If you are worried about anti-semitism maybe you should worry about those who are actually trying to kill Jews.

Prager's made his choice...
As is, the Republican party never did care about the Jews- just their vote. However, Mr. Prager's defense of Ann Coulter's reprehensible comments proves where he stands. He effectively states that HE doesn't care about the Jews either! Prager loves the Republican party more than his own people. He's made his choice!

I am an Orthodox Jew and I find Mr. Prager's (and other fellow Jews on this) defense of her blatantly offensive remarks about Jews needing to be "perfected" shocking. This attitude was the groundwork for the Shoah in the first place!

Gestel
Anne Coulter is not an anti-semite. This is really a ridiculous position taken by the left. In addition to define Prager as self loathing or some strange apologist for Christians is silly. Prager is a religious Jews, a strong supporter of Israel, and never afraid to confront real anti-semites who are increasingly on the left.

From an Orthodox Jew, much of whose family was massacred during the Shoah, I think I have a handle on anti-semites.

Coulter...no. Ironically, many of these same wingnuts who are atheist and are claiming Coulter is anti-semitic are the same loons who were all for Imanutjob's "right" to speak his file anti-semitism at Columbia. Talk about willfully ignorant.

Gestell
Your points didn't matter.

Ann Coulter isn't an Anti-Semite, thus, no matter how similiar you may THINK her words were to some injustice hundres of years ago, it's not appropiate to associate her with those abuses.

She's not a Jew-hater. Period.

That you persist in trying to make her out to be one shows very little character on your part.

Very malicious, deceiptful... but i guess that's to be expected from the Shallow Left.

They must tear down everyone they hate.

When I see any evidence that you have the faintest idea what I'm talking about, I'll consider "getting over it." I note that you didn't actually produce any arguments against my points, just the typical conservative "shut up" cr*p. I won't bother to give you any reading suggestions to develop some knowledge of this issue--it would only be a waste of time.

Hatred and the left.
When I read threads such as this my belief that the left feeds off hatred is reinforced. It is not enough for them to disagree. They have to hate and destroy those with another opinion. Christians, believe it or not, have a right to practice their religion.

Pat Buchanan? ew

Mild apology
I thought I posted on Buchanan's thread.

I was wondering what Coulter had to do with any of it.

To be clear, I agree with the title of the article- So What?
In the world of geopolitics, Ann Coulter is irrelevant as they come.

Your tactics bore me.

Talk about the Kurds all you want. Talk about tangets.

My point wasn't that every Muslim is anti-Israel.

My point is that the Muslim enemies of Israel and Christians are on the move resulting in the vanishing of Jewish and Christian populations all over the ME.

If you really cared about the spiritual dignity of Jews you would be way more upset about that than what Ann Coulter said (remember.. this is about Ann, not the Kurds.. please try to stay focused)

You would be calling the enemies of Jews and Christians names instead of people from your country. But like I said, you dont really care about those other people, you motivated by your own selfish agenda of political power and petty revenge on people in this country who you hate.

Sidestepping
The Kurds support the state of Israel. How do you explain that? Answer - you can't and won't because you have no idea what's going on in that part of the world. Instead, you just parrot mindles talking points that have no basis in reality.

You know nothing of my principles except that I have little patience for ideologues like you that spew ignorance with arrogance.

jetpilot...

I see you still play Atari in your momma's attic.

What would Dr. Spock think of your logic ? Captain Kirk would be ashamed of you, attacking the mother-ship like that !

>OK, you, like Ann, hate Muslims, all Muslims, without regard to events that today are taking place in the Muslim world.

There you go.. putting words in my mouth... Good job!

You fools do it to everyone you disagree with.

Can't stick to the knowns huh? Have to go that extra step.

I hate Muslims? Whatever you say... you're a mind reader!

I will tell you what I hate though...

I hate Islam... it's an evil system. That doesn't translate into hating people.. I'm not like you.

And the rest of what you said is an incoherant muddle because my point is providing it was to show the REAL threat to the Jews .. THE REAL THREAT. You people crying tears of hurt over some words by a woman on TV don't give a crap about Jews. You think you have a moment for your Two Minute Hate so you all you start cackling .. meanwhile, the enemies of the Jews are continuing with their goal, which is the annihiliation of the Jews and not a peep from you.

That is so typical for people like you... you have no guiding princple other than "How can we denigrate the US today and how can we assure our base holds onto and increases political power"

That is the extent of you concern NO MATTER the issue.

Don't talk to me about Kurdish automony and cross-borders.. you don't care.

Don't pretend that you do.. no one believes you , liar.

>Being Republican or Conservative is NEVER HAVING TO SAY YOU ARE SORRY!!!

Stop projecting.

never having to say you're sorry
I love the O'Reilly interviewing if Coulter last night on the "Jews need to be perfected" comment.

B-oh: I don't care.

Coulter: I don't either.

Than they exchanged some obfuscations and a bunch of bull, which did not explain anything. Hard hitting NO SPIN? RIGHT?

Of course the quote was NEVER mentioned. THAT IS GREAT!

It turned into a Bash LIBS bash Dems bash MSNBC.

This is just like Bill-Ohs two week defense of his racist remarks, which he did not repeat on air: "And, I Could not believe it, it was just like a WHITE Restaurant...!" ha-ha

A 60 year old white man telling everyone how Blacks are just like whites is stupid and self serving sanctimonious bull at best. It's like Larry Craig saying "I'm not gay and never have been gay". If you have to defend it you are probably a bigot or gay.

Being Republican or Conservative is NEVER HAVING TO SAY YOU ARE SORRY!!!

>An inability to understand the ideology behind political Islam could spell disaster for the West.<

You contradict yourself so thoroughly, it's hard to know where to begin.

OK, you, like Ann, hate Muslims, all Muslims, without regard to events that today are taking place in the Muslim world.
In a previous post you mentioned that Assyrian and Chaldean Christians are taking refuge in the Kurdish provinces of Iraq. Of course, the Kurds are Muslims for the most part, though they have established a secular government and are the only group in Iraq to have opposed language in the constitution that declares Iraq a Muslim nation.

So, how do we react to Turkey and Iran shelling Kurdish villages with the justification that they are sheltering terrorist groups?

We silently support PJAK and their incursions into Iran, while calling their PKK bretheren terrorists for doing the exact same thing in Turkey, ignoring the decades of terror that Turkey has reigned down on its Kurdish population, terror from which the PKK was born to begin with.

Bottom line is that there is not enough unity in the Islamic world to start a bonfire, much less mount any kind of successful incursion into the West. That could only be accomplished by an alliance with Russia and/or China.

You "The Muslims are coming to cut off our heads" mutants have taken your eye off the ball. Did you notice where Putin was today?

Please explain how a dismissal of Ann Coulter's statements on the grounds that they are an artless attempt to create controversy which will aid in the sale of her book is a "logical fallacy."

Bravo!
Prager is right on the money here. He thinks that Coulter is wrong the theology (as do her detractors), but absolutely justified in speaking her mind. Bravo, Mr. Prager! And three hearty cheers for the First Amendment!

The only bigotry is that shown by those who want to shut down people like Coulter. All of the people who have tried to shut Ann down without making an actual, logical argument (which is all of them, as far as I've seen) are anti-Christian bigots. Those on the left can only shriek and shout, because they can't make any actual arguments. Which reminds me of the name of Ann's latest book, "If Democrats had any Brains . . ."

The Left is today's Anti-Semite
Keep telling us how much Ann Coulter holds to intolerable personal opinions.. meanwhile the Left is shacking up with Islam.

Leftist – Islamist Alliance Aligns Against Jerusalem

David J. Jonsson - 10/16/2007
The West has a worldview based on the analysis and actions influenced by looking through the lenses of politics and economics, whereas the Islamists looks at the world through the lens of ideology. It is time for the West to place importance on looking at events happening around the world through the lens of ideologies. In the case of the Muslims, their worldview and subsequent actions are shaped by their vision for world domination, the establishment of Islamic kingdom of God on Earth – the creation of worldwide Caliphate and the End Times.

An inability to understand the ideology behind political Islam could spell disaster for the West.

getsell knows nothing
What are the threat to jews in the usa

1. most jews are secular or nominally religious; hence, their self-identification of jews is weakening thru assimilation

2. Given their no longer ties to religion, they are subject to atheism and conversion to budhism, christianity

3. There is no threat to their person, livilhood by christians or Ann Coulter who has a secret jewish boyfriend

4. Liberals such as Getsell have screwed jews who score with asians highest on sat , medical pre tests and legal pre tests but lose slots to those lesser qualified in the black area. Thanks to liberals.

Christians have imposed no threats to jews. The biggest threat to jews is from liberal policies and anti=semitic atheist and moslems in our universities

Part 2

The situation in Iraq is particularly painful. Before the 2003 war, there were Assyrian and Chaldean Christians, some Armenians and Palestinians who were finding work there. They comprised 1.2 million of the country’s 25 million people. Now half of them have fled Iraq, and most of the rest have fled to Kurdistan or elsewhere in the country. The Roman Catholic relief organization claims that there are only 25,000 Christians left in Iraq, and over half of the 1.7 million Iraqi refugees in Jordan and Syria are Christian.

Real Religious Bigotry
I'm amazed how the fools in this country get themselves up in a lather over the WORDS of Ann Coulter.

Where is your outrage about the following, you liars?

Yeah.. its real *brave* to call Ann Coulter a name... lets see you ideologues speak up against this:

Christian Arabs [including Christian Palestinians] are vanishing. Although all Palestinians [and their friends] believe that their enemy is Israel, they are like victims of Stockholm Syndrome, who identify with heir actual tormentors.

In Iraq, where Christians [and formerly Jews] have lived for millennia, they are being driven out. The Jews, 750,000 of them, were expelled from the Arab world [and some lynched] in 1954. Now it is Christian Arabs — including Palestinians — who are being hunted down and either killed or driven out. Assyrian Christians in Iraq are being given four choices: change their religion, leave the country, pay the jeziya [a tax levied on non-Muslims], or line up and be shot.

The Christian population in Muslim lands has plunged from 12 million to 2 million in the past decade alone. Lebanon, once a majority Christian country, has become two-thirds Muslim. Jerusalem, where only 12,000 Christians remain, is facing the possibility that there will be no Christians “in the homeland of Jesus Christ himself” according to the Greek Orthodox archbishop in Jerusalem. In Bethlehem, Christians were once 85 percent, down now to 20 percent. In Egypt, Christians were once 10 percent of the population; now they are 6 percent. “The flight of Christians out of these areas is similar to the hunt for Jews,” according to Magdi Allam, an Egyptian author.

Gestell
Quite simply I say .. get over it.

This is 21st Century America. Bible-believing Christians love Jews and want Israel protected. *THIS* is the context of Coulter's comments.

Not some long-dead European anti-Christian abusive traditions.

I can't believe people like you manufactor the WORST motivations for people. That is so offensive.

Do you know what it's like to be someone who sympathizes with the plight of the Jewish people only to have know-nothing political leftist hacks ascribe to you the very abuses that you moarn?

It makes me angry

How dare you... Keep your mouth shut.

@Mellor
you write:

"Face it: Your faith, once clearly explained, sickens a lot of people."

How so?

buddha?
Phylo, So you say, "Buddhism doesn't depend on belief."

Yeah? And hows that working for you? How does the saying go?... "If you believe in nothing you'll fall for anything."

The thing is, Ann answered a stupid question, with an equally stupid answer. It was funny. The world will never be "perfect" as long as it is inhabited by people. We don't have a very good track record. And we never will.

The response to her response reinforces the perception that liberals have NO SENSE OF HUMOR. They can't laugh, and don't know funny unless it's deliverd with a laugh track.

Liberals are the one who call TBS for permission to laugh. And even then, a liberal can never laugh alone.

Are Liberals simply willfully obtuse?
Long thread, lots of good comments from conservatives, very few from Liberals.

Reading through the leftist, Ann-hater comments we note the level of anti-intellectualism in responses to Prager's assertion. He essentially states that Ann was voicing a well established Christian theological position (repeating the essential Pauline tenet that we are "perfected" in Christ Jesus.)

Liberal responses consisted of:

Ann is a transexual (ad hominum)
Ann is trying to sell books (logical fallacy)
Ann is an anti-Semite (baseless assertion without evidence)
Ann's comments are equivalent to racism (false analogy)
Dennis Prager is fat (ad hominum)
Ann is a political whore (idiotic ad hominum)

And so on.

Here is a suggestion for you intolerant and hateful leftists: COME UP WITH AN INTELLECTUAL POSITION AND SUPPORT IT FOR ONCE.

You people are so predictable, tedious, and small it really is amazing that you even can find it in yourself to face the day.

GROW UP!

Get back to me when you learn something about the history of anti-Semitism and the role of Christians in it. No, I'm not saying that all Christians are haters of Jews, and I didn't say that in my post. However, the lines I cited from various readers are part and parcel of anti-Jewish rhetoric that extends back many centuries. Look, if you believe that a group of people consists of sinners who are going to Hell, and you further believe that thtese sinners form a conspiracy to kill or enslave you, what won't you do to them to eliminate the threat?

Here's a better example. Take whatever you believe your most important attribute as a human being is. Now suppose that you read online that there are people who want to transform you so that attribute is taken away. Wouldn't that bother you? Suppose you heard that we liberals have invented some form of mind-ray that we're planning on beaming at all conservatives to make them liberals. You'd reach for your gun,, I thinik.

I too listen to Michael
Savage and I heartily disagree with him on the subject of Ann Coulter. I believe that he is fueled by professional jealousy, her books are far more historically informative and much funnier than his, and he himself is/was Jewish.
(Michael Weiner)They are actually very similar in their beliefs politically.

Cornpone Harry writes:
"...she also knows full well that the Gospel of John says the following plainly and unambiguously:

"He who has the Son (Jesus )has life. He who has not the Son has NOT life but the wrath of God abideth upon him." John 3:36

Cal Thomas, Hugh Hewitt, Star Parker, Glen Beck, Richard Land, and many other timid and oh so politically sensitive Christians also KNOW and believe these passages in the Gospel of John. But unlike Ms Coulter, they are far too pusillanimous and craven to admit it-much less fearlessly declare it."

Wrong. They're too bright.

They know that making such claims is (a) unsupportable, and (b) will turn off a lot of people.

Face it: Your faith, once clearly explained, sickens a lot of people.

Why the left hates Ann
I haven't seen this point here so I'll bring it up. Folks on the left do not hate Ann because of the ideas she presents. They hate her because of the feelings she provokes.

Folks on the Right (FOTR) make judgements based on rational content. They evaluate ideas. Folks on the Left (FOTL) make judgements based on emotional content. The evaluate feelings.

Ann Coulter presents very compelling ideas, wrapped in caustic language and biting sarcasm. FOTRs perceive the ideas, find them compelling and respond positively. FOTLs perceive the feelings, find them caustic and biting, and respond negatively.

Of course, my own post has been presented as an idea with little or no emotional content. I expect positive responses from FOTRs and negative (or no) response from FOTLs.

Understanding the difference Pt 2
As a Christian, I believe it is best for everyone to obey God and become a Christian. Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, atheist ... it doesn't matter. I believe God knows what is best for you.

A undeniable part of Christian doctrine is that we must tell non-Christians that, but also an undeniable part of doctrine is that salvation does not come from forced conversions. It's a personal choice that each of us makes. Christianity was never meant to be an inherited religion. It is a personal faith.

Muslims would like me to become Muslim. Some of them want it so badly that they are willing to torture a conversion out of me or kill me if I continue to refuse. Obviously, as I am not a Muslim, I can't speak definitively on the subject, but I don't think Osama bin Ladan cares whether my conversion is real and heart-felt or forced and surface, so long as I convert. That is totally different from Christian conversion.

So, no, you have nothing to worry about from Christians. We'd love it if all non-Christians joined us as Christians, but we're not going to force you to join us because it wouldn't work. God wants your souls, not your lip-service.

Understand the difference?

Understanding the difference Pt 1
As a Christian, I hold to God's Biblical teaching that all who die outside of His "perfect" (translate that "completed") will goes to Hell. I don't want that for anyone, especially not if I care about them. Hell is a place where God isn't. Since nothing good exists in this world without God, Hell won't have anything good in it. Why would I want anyone I might care about to spend eternity in a place where no good exists because God has absent.

The Bible also teaches me that non-Christians choose not to follow God and that God gives them the dignity of their choice. If you didn't want God's presence in your life while you were alive, you probably wouldn't want to spend eternity with Him. I think Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens would define eternity with Jesus as their own personal version of Hell. So, God gives them the freewill to choose their own eternity. If they don't like it when they get there -- well, they were warned.

Christians believe that we must tell people about Jesus because if we don't and they choose Hell from ignorance, it's our fault. We want to please God because He's done so much for us, so we obey Him by telling those who would rather not hear it that they have a choice to make and consequences follow. That's as far as we can go because a forced conversion is an outside, surface action and salvation is an interior, soul action. The two are not the same. We can tell you, but we can't force you. God knows the difference and real Christians know the difference as well. We don't want all the world to look like the church in Sardis, physically active but spiritually dead. We can tell, but we can't force. Very critical difference there. Non-Christians always have freewill.

I'm crushed
