Will Congress pass Obamacare by the end of the year?

Dear American Soldier in Iraq:

There are a few things you should know about how tens of millions of us back home feel about you and the fight you are waging. These things need to be said, especially now, given the fact that the head of one of America's two major political parties has announced that the war in Iraq is lost.

This war has not been lost. What has happened is that many Americans, for all sorts of reasons -- some out of simple fatigue, some because they do not believe that war solves anything, some out of deep loathing for the present administration -- do not believe that what you are doing is worth doing.

You know that what you are doing is worth continuing. You see on an almost daily basis the faces of people who count on you to help them make a freer society than they have ever known. You know that your presence in Iraq is all that stands between numberless men, women and children and a horrible death. But, for whatever reasons, the fate of these people and their country do not matter to those who feel you are wasting your time and our nation's resources in Iraq.

You know that the fight you wage is worth waging. You know that you are not, by and large, fighting Iraqis who do not want you there but fighting people from other countries who come into Iraq in order to blow up and maim as many innocent Iraqis as possible.

You know that you are fighting the most vicious and primitive ideology in the world today. It is the belief that one's God wants his followers to maim, torture and murder in order to spread a system of laws that sends societies back to a moral and intellectual state that is pre-civilization.

You know that the war you wage against these people and their totalitarian ideology is also necessary because a society unwilling to fight for its values does not have values worth sustaining. And for that reason, you in Iraq and many of us back home are worried about America.

You know that there is real good and real evil in the world. You have seen both more than any of us at home will probably see in a lifetime. Why so many in America and the West generally no longer believe that there is good and evil, let alone in the importance of having good vanquish evil, is a subject for a book. But that is the problem here. So when, God willing, you return healthy and victorious, you will have another battle to wage -- on behalf of moral clarity. In that regard we are losing our way. Millions of our fellow Americans -- often the best educated -- do not understand that those who send young people to blow up weddings, kindergartens, market places and college libraries in the promise of a paradise filled with young women are the Nazis of our time. Thanks Troops
I join in Mr. Prager's letter of thanks troops. You're my people and the very best of us. You're the very best of us because you heeded the call and are now among the "brotherhood" of those who also stood tall for America. You chose to serve and fight the greatest evil of our generation. I know you know what evil is. You're living with the results of what's it's done to a nation. It corrupts minds and robs hope from the human condition.

Many our our people don't want you in harm's way, and they blame the President for sending you. I'm sure now you all see now why you were sent and your mission is appreciated by more Americans than you may read about.

I'm not sure if the history of Nazi Germany is being taught in our schools today. It needs to be. These Islamics adopted Hitler's ideals and embraced them with faith. That makes them even more deadly.

Alot of the old folks that witnessed Hitler's atrocities and methods are gone now but the truth of that age can still be found in "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" and among other old history books. Their mission like Hitler's is clear. World domination.

That doesn't set too well with the politically correct cliques over here, but that's ok. You troops have the guts it takes to do the job. They don't.

God Bless You!

Parallels in Time: Bush, Lincoln, GWOT & the American Civil War

"One of the current Democrats greatest dirty secret is that they play race as much as their Civil War predecessors do. They utilize the race card domestically by assuming the mantle of the party annointed to protect the minorities of the nation, and then with equal vigor paint a racist picture of those lazy Iraqis who can not seem to fight for themselves, i.e. the “those backward people over there are incapable of democracy.” That is the two headed snake of the modern Democratic talking points…pig headed multiculturalism at home, the subtle racism of the old “White Mans Burden” projected abroad. The Democrat concept that the Iraqis and Afghanis are not “worthy” or are otherwise “incapable” of democracy…that is their modern rejection of Emancipation.
You could just as easily take this:

“An Ohio editor branded Lincoln a ‘half-witted usurper’ and his Emancipation Proclamation ‘monsterous, impudent, and heinous…for it declares those ‘equal’ whom God created unequal.’“ (p. 594)

and see this today:

“NY Times columnist calls Bush a ‘half-witted usurper’ and the spread of democracy to support the GWOT as ‘monsterous, impudent, and heinous…for it declares those ‘equal’ whom are unequal to the rigours of democracy.’“

“One of Lee’s purposes in ordering restraint toward (white) civilians was to cultivate the copperheads. He placed great faith in ‘the rising peace party of the North’ as a ‘means of dividing and weakening our enemies.’ Lee wrote to Davis on June 10, that the copperheads professed to favor reunion as the object of peace negotiations while the South regarded independence as the goal. But it would do no harm, Lee advised Davis, to play along with this reunion sentiment to weaken northern support for the war, which ‘after all is what we are intereested in bringing about.’” (p. 650)

“War-weary rebel soldiers hoped fervently for McClellan and peace. ‘The enemy are exceedingly anxious to hold out until after the Presidential election…and that desertions [in the southern army] would be more frequent but they believe peace will be negotiated after the fall elections.’” (p. 803)

Just as the soldiers and generals of the Confederacy observed and took efforts to exploit the Peace Party, just as General Giap and the North Vietnamese did the same…just as it is today. If you profess to be a party that will stop fighting, the enemy will support you.

It is commonly trotted out in liberal arguments against Iraq, where they point at Vietnam and parrot the quote.

I wish they would actually know their history as we come up on what will likely be the Tet Summer of the Iraq War...where the insurgents and jihadists destroy themselves militarily to achieve a strategic victory in US poll numbers and Congressional votes in the fall.

It’s all about choices and free will. For jihadis and theocrats the status quo is the removal of choice, the submission of free will to the theocracy. That is literally the definition of the culture, submission of individual free will to the will of the theocratic order, laws, and decrees.

It is not Israel, nor the troops in Saudi Arabia, the occupation of Iraq, or any other excuse that is placed on the table which really gets to the heart of the jihadist fury…instead it is the concept of free will that so permeates our Western Culture that we do not even see it. The only way for them to remove this alien influence is to contain the spread within their own culture while they attempt to eliminate the source. That is the real reason they are the Robin Hoods of their cultures, because they are the defenders of that culture – just as the KKK was begun as the rearguard defense of Southern Culture and has morphed over the years into something even more abhorrent and sinister.

The very ideals of classic liberalism, an open society with individual rights, is abhorrent to the death cult crowd. When people of their own culture assert individualism they can be murdered out of hand by the islamofascist, be it man or woman, young or old. This does not enable a free and fair market for the classic ideals to be debated and their merits weighed against the status quo.

That free and fair market of ideals and thoughts are what we are fighting to provide the Iraqis. They turned out in droves to get their blue thumbs and vote in elections, some with the threat of death hanging over them, I would think they have shown the national desire to engage in the fair market of liberal ideals. They may not pick every single classical talking point, but they are absolutely interested and involved.

Sounds like they are worthy enough as any of us, perhaps even more, to have the chance. If just a few of those liberal ideals can get thrown against the wall and stick in Iraq or Afghanistan we will have a victory against the Death Cults who want to keep their brother muslims bound to a stagnant theocratic ideology and destroy the west to prevent all the corruptive influences produced there.
