Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

In November, US Airways kicked six imams off a plane bound for Phoenix from Minneapolis. According to news reports, passengers and crew had become spooked watching some of the imams pray by the gate, then after boarding, saw the imams move around the plane as they spoke in Arabic -- some said the imams spoke of Saddam Hussein, which the imams deny. They said that the imams also had requested seat-belt extenders -- heavy metal objects -- which some feared could be used as weapons. The imams then were questioned and released without being charged.

Last month, the imams filed a lawsuit against US Airways, the airport and unnamed passengers who complained to airline personnel about the imams' behavior. The suit charges that these John Doe passengers "may have made false reports against plaintiffs solely with the intent to discriminate against them on the basis of their race, religion, ethnicity and national origin."

Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., promptly introduced an amendment to a measure to protect passengers, lest this lawsuit chill the flying public's willingness to report suspicious behavior. King's amendment has passed through the House.

Minneapolis attorney Gerry Nolting offered to represent any John Does for free. As he told me, the FAA relies on passengers to report suspicious activity to protect the flying public. Suing the John Doe passengers, he noted, would have "a chilling effect" by signaling to passengers that if they report suspicious behavior, "you'll be the next defendant."

Meanwhile, the whole episode had some observers wondering about this post-9/11 controversy. As Zuhdi Jasser, an Arizona internist and former Navy medical officer who founded the American Islamic Forum for Democracy to serve as a "voice for liberty-minded Muslims in America in the war on terror," wrote of the "flying imam" controversy, "Was their behavior part of a pre-arranged stunt for the purpose of gathering sympathy on a false premise that Muslims in America are being 'victimized?'"

To go by the imams' complaint, the imams did nothing provocative. They simply prayed in public, then moved about the plane trying to make sure that all the men, including Marwan Sadeddin, who is blind, were comfortable. Apparently, Sadeddin and fellow Arizonan Omar Shahin requested seat-belt extensions because they're portly guys.

Ibrahim Hooper of the Council on American-Islamic Relations told me it is wrongheaded for observers to be suspicious of innocent behavior -- praying or asking for a seat-belt extension -- simply because a Muslim does it. "That Muslim is wearing a tie," Hooper scoffed. "He can take it off and strangle someone."

And, "Once they were seen praying, every action they took became suspicious in the eyes of some passengers." That's wrong, because Americans have the right to pray in public.

CAIR supports the suit, including the targeting of John Doe passengers, Hooper told me, because, "If somebody believes they have been discriminated against maliciously and willfully, they have a right to challenge that discrimination." This suit, he argued, comes from the imams' desire "to clear their names."

Here's the problem: The imams are not going to clear their names by going after passengers who, rightly or wrongly, alerted airline personnel to the imams.

By so doing, the lawsuit reinforces the suspicion that the imams were acting in a deliberately provocative manner. At the very least, the imams were utterly insensitive to passengers' fears of a 9/11-like attack.

"It was not just one thing," Nolting noted. "It was a series of behaviors. I assume it was the pilot, based on the totality of the information he had, that made him conclude that he didn't want these folks on his plane."

Nolting added, "I don't know too many businesses who like to turn away paying customers." Or, as Jasser put it, "I think they were trying to make a point." That point could be to further "the victimization agenda of organizations like CAIR."

This much is clear: If CAIR and the imams want to prompt those who are suspicious of Islam to rethink their prejudices and be sensitive to the Muslim perspective, they picked a truly boneheaded way to do it.

Ms. Saunders
So right you are. What a dumb way to go about trying to make a point that there is discrimination. If indeed there was. That is certainly debatable. It looked more like a setup to a lot of people.

Weird behavior
I have witnessed strange behavior on aircraft before. A middle aged white man was clearly uncomfortable as the plane took off. He was holding a newspaper over his face and twitching.

I didn't know if he was waiting for an explosion or was just scared of flying. Kinda freaked me out and I watched him like a hawk for the 4 hour flight.

If he had been a foreigner dressed in Arab garb or not I'd have said something. Falling out of the sky at 30,000 feet isn't something I am willing to take a chance on.

If you are acting out of the ordinary for the population in general you are used to being noticed. That doesn't mean you can act oddly and get rewarded for it.

Well, the salient point
is that these Imams, if they're not collectively dumber than a bag of hair, know that in this era the eyes are going to be on them simply because they are Muslim and acting weird.

That's just human nature.

So, either they set this whole thing up in order to create a situation that would result in a lawsuit -- a highly likely scenario -- or they're so arrogant that they truly believe the whole world is supposed to change its nature to accommodate their "unusual" behavior (the default CAIR position).

Tail gets to wag the dog, simply BECAUSE they're Muslim, and our society has to *prove* how tolerant we are.

These guys deserve a 2X4 up side the head.

BrianR
I believe the correct verbage is 'up-side' the head, you left off the hyphen. But I could be wrong. I did go to Government (public) Schools.

It has become a solid position of CAIR that NOTHING any muslim does is weird, extraordinary or suspicous.

Kinda reminds you of liberals huh? And Nazi's in the 30's.

Racial Profiling is my key to comfortable air travel for the future. However nutballs can be anywhere, just look at the Courts, or either House of Congress!

Mark Steyn nails it....
in his "America Alone" book. He shows how the Muslims have learned the art of "victim-hood" for their cause, and the West keeps rewarding them time and time because we are afraid of being "insensitive" or "racists".

If you want to be scared and depressed, read "America Alone". He documents with chilling detail how the Muslims have been systematically using our culture against us and are winning. Terrorism isn't just about suicide bombers or beheadings - it's also about weakening the fabric of our country and beliefs and turning more and more people to the Muslim faith.

Think this idea is crazy - take a close look at Detroit and Minneapolis - what demographic group rules the roost there?

Read this somewhere and it's what I remember - NOT ALL MUSLIMS ARE TERRORISTS, BUT ALL TERRORISTS ARE MUSLIMS.

Flying imams womens auxiliary?
I live about eight miles away from where this happened:

"Dallas police and federal terrorism officials are investigating two women, both dressed in camouflage pants under their traditional Muslim robes and scarves, who were seen conducting what appeared to be surveillance and acting suspiciously at Dallas Love Field.

"One of the women, Kimberly "Asma" Al-Homsi, 42, of Arlington, who is on probation for a 2005 Garland road rage incident involving a fake grenade, is said to have long-range assault rifle and explosives training, according to a Dallas police intelligence bulletin issued March 5."

Does the suit even have any merit?
I'm not a lawyer, but I do know that anyone can sue anyone for anything, whether it's legitimate or not. The legal process itself determines whether or not the suit is legitimate. So my question is: Is the suit ultimately even legitimate or is it just a ploy on the part of the imams? I don't think they'll have a "prayer" of actually being victorious because in general, to have your rights violated implies that one party with power has discriminated against another party with less power. I'm not sure a passenger is even liable for discrimination, because though a passenger may voice a complaint, they don't actually have any power to kick anyone off the plane. It's the being kicked off the plane that's the discrimination, not voicing of a complaint. Suing the airline makes sense, because the airline has the power to discriminate. Since the passengers do not, I can't see what crime, if any, the passengers have committed that can be the object of a suit. I can see them being sued for making a false statement to a police officer, if indeed they made up a story, but not for violating the imam's civil rights. I'm sure the imams will argue that such statements aided the airline in making the decision it did, but there's no proof of a conspiracy, or a lie on the passengers part, so I'd guess that suit would be thrown out.

It's about private property
In this day and age when the Marching Mommies have continually screamed that they and their offspring have the "RIGHT" to be present anywhere, any time, and that nothing on earth should be permitted that they, if they could be everywhere, would not permit their offspring to view, touch, or know about, it's not surprising that the idea of an airline being able to invite or uninvite people to their private property has become lost.

In this day and age when people don't know the difference between censorship (a government operation) and editorial judgement (a personal decision involving disposition of private property), it is hardly surprising that a group of Imams and their lawyers would seek to assert the "RIGHT" of people who WANT to patronize a private business to trump the wishes of the OWNERS of that business. Just as a private bar has the right to refuse service to those who arrive already drunk, so an airline has the right to refuse service to passengers who are behaving in a way the owner deems disruptive.

Just as an employer has the right not to hire someone who does not fit his image of an employee (e.g. the Hooters restaurants are not required to hire fat middle aged men as waitresses), so an airline pilot has the right to decide who occupies the seats in his vessel.

It's all about private property. That's the ultimate major premise here. If you admit that a thing called Private Property exists, and that the central premise of the ability to live and do business in a free country is the absolute control over one's private property, INCLUDING who comes onto that property and for what purpose, then the Imams have no case whatever.

Of course, here in Kanukistan this law has already been discarded. We have a very well known case in which a printing company was forced by the government to accept a print job from a Gay Rights organization -- although his business was a private concern, the government decreed that he had no RIGHT to refuse service to any member of the public with cash in hand, personal beliefs and choices be da*mned. Here in the GTA the law forbids apartment buildings to institute a "No Kids No Pets" rule. In Atlanta there are no longer "All Adult" apartment buildings.

So the idea of private property is indeed being eroded away -- but it's still the best defence the airline has.

And by the way, if the Muslims decide to boycott USAIR, I predict they will soon be the only profitable airline in North America.

Islam has a problem
You all are a way too nice and careful about your words. Let me just say I am angry at these six men. I don't trust them as far as I could throw them.

Religious fanatics in the Islamic religion is driving Muslims to commit acts of atrocity against anyone they can around the world. Even their fellow Muslims are not safe. The Qur’an is full of talk about killing infidels.

First what is an Imam? I didn't know so I looked it up:

-successor to Muhammad as the lawful temporal
-leader of the Islamic community.
-The male prayer leader in a mosque.
-Shiites: leader descendant of Muhammad divinely appointed to guide humans.
-An earthly representative of the 12 such leaders recognized by Shiism.
-A ruler claiming descent from Muhammad and exercising authority in an Islamic state.
-Any one of the founders of the four schools of law and theology.
-An authoritative scholar who founds a school of law or theology.

Apparently Muslims are confused and it can mean different things to different muslims. This shows you that there are many muslims and no central Islam. So we recognize the taliban is not the peaceful muslim neighbor. We know its a small part of the muslim religion, BUT its a cancer growing and the good parts of the muslim body are not doing anything about it.

I am not sure which kind of Imam they are, probably prayer leaders, BUT I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ALL MUSLIM LEADERS WHO ACT AGGRESSIVE.

These SIX persons are trouble makers IMHO. I was not there, but from all reports, in my opinion they where militant and intentionally making a disturbance and scene. THE KEY WORD IS MILITANT.

Let's stop wussy footing around, all 9/11 hijackers where doing it for Islam, Allah, ie Muslims. Remember 9/11. Sorry Islam or Muslims but you religion got a bad reputation that day. They also almost all came from Saudi Arabia, but that is a different story. Why did we not do anything to Saudi Arabia? Two words OIL and Political power/ties (Bush #41 oil man, has strong financial ties to Saudi).

SECOND, The center or the violent radicalism of mulsims centers around the religious leaders (Imams). The muslim masques are the center of recruitment for Jihadist (killers, murderers of innocent people for religion).

SOME muslim TEACHERS (imam's?), teach children to: HATE Jews and Christian, be a martyr; kill the infidel get 72 virgins, jihad against the great satan. (The infidel or satan would be you and me, kill all of the non-muslim world.)

The Good teachers in the Muslim church are too quite in renouncing the violence. The general Muslim follower is also not outraged enough for me. That makes me suspicious. I'm sorry for all peaceful muslims, but your religion deserves to have the light of suspicion cast onto it.

Let's be honest, this religion and their Clerics, Imams, leaders have spurred a thread of violence in the world. This violence runs through the Muslim religion, currently and historically, per their own interpretation of the Qur'an and all the references to killing. No where in the Christian bible does it talk about followers going out and cutting throats of the "non-believer" for Jesus. The Qur'an does.

There are moderate and peaceful muslims. I know many. They are good people. I respect there right to worship, but the daily prayers facing Mecca are not compatible with air travel. If you are flying, taking off, landing or basically anywhere on a full plane there is no room for one spreading a prayer rug out, much less room for 6 to pray. In any case during boarding, taxi, takeoff, climb, descent, approach and landing there is NO praying on the floor.

Plea to Muslims: (paraphrased)

"To those Muslims out there that are truly peaceful, take back your religion from the lunatics. Speak out against the idiocy happening around the world. Let the world know that you exist. Demand Imams and leaders of Islamic counties speak out against these acts and reprimand those responsible for doing it. And for Imams that ACT THE FOOL, you should reject them and demand THEY act like civilized people in the country we live in."

In America when you enter an airport or commercial aircraft you ARE by federal law required to follow ALL commands from the crew. Arrogance, militancy or strange behaviour will get you kicked off the plane or arrested. PERIOD.

Side Note
Funny how so many Americans believe Muslims can live here in peaceful harmony in a DEMOCRACY but also believe there is no way they will live in a DEMOCRACY in Iraq.

This was a probe for Weakness
This is nothing more than a sympathetic terrorist group to probe for weaknesses in our now beefed up air transportation system. These Imams backgrounds and contacts should be looked into by the FBI and made public. Also every judge and court in the country should throw out any attempt by these individuals to sue any one including the airline for doing what was the right thing.
Finally this is one citizen who will speak up if I see any behavior similar or suspicious regardless of what any silly court might do to suppress it. Islam is at war with our culture, we need to realize it and fight back, our existence depends on it.

Freedoms????
We, as Americans, we have THE right to fear these animals. They took the unique opportunity to fill us with fear on that day and so when AMERICAN fight back we are told it is racist. Our own laws are killing us and protecting THEM.
Opinionated as I am, doesn't someone out there believe that the rights of AMERICAN CITIZENS should come before the rights of some terrorist wannabe????

Fuzzy
Good point. The lefties think that the craziness of Islam is isolated in the Middle East. Yet the militant teachings have already reached the US. Take a look at Dearbornistan. Thanks to Debbie Schlussel for that word.

Marc of CA
They ALL had terrorist ties. They were MUSLIM!

That puts them all on my "Do Not Trust" list. Beyond that, I don't wish them harm. I just want the right to take another flight (without additional charge) if I am concerned about a threat.

And if children can't pray in school, Muslims can't pray on airlines. Arbitrary laws but the Libs opened the door on that one.

ToledoMike
"Islam is at war with our culture..."

Too bad the Lefties don't understand that. The best/worst part of that failure is that the "Liberal Progressive" lifestyle of the Lefties is the reason Islamics around the world are against the US.

Fuzzy
"And if children can't pray in school, Muslims can't pray on airlines. Arbitrary laws but the Libs opened the door on that one."

Excellent analogy. I would take the argument further. They have no fundamental right to travel on an airliner. Any airliner. Those vehicles are not owned by the US, but are the private property of the airline companies.
If I drive a taxi, I can refuse to take you somwhere if you seem suspicious. Same should go for air travel. Let them ride a bike. Or a camel.

Where is common sense when we need it?
We have come a long way from what were intended as 'rights' and how such rights should be used responsibly. Today, however, we find lawsuits popping up at the drop of a hat -- or seatbelt extension -- or just about anything about which one can claim to be 'offended'.

Apparently there were no air marshalls on this flight, but I am wondering if a person trained in spotting 'suspicious' activity could have ignored the activity because it would have violated someone's 'rights' to question such activity. My question is, "Did those who were concerned or even scared not have 'rights' as well?

If a judge allows or HAS allowed this case to go forward, one must question whether that judge is competent wnough to understand the meaning of "without merit".

Frankly, if I were one of those who reported the activity, I would be forced to say their actions scared the bejabbers out of me and possibly counter suing. Surely some competent lawyer can find a way to produce evidence that people were scared. After all, if we can not 'scare' illegal aliens or even captured prisoners, why must Imams be allowed to scare ordinary citizens?

And of course, there is the matter of private citizens practicing religion on taxpayer funded soil or in taxpayer funded buildings. Where are those who claim such practices are unconstitutional if a 'Christian' does such things that 'others' find offensive?

Creating a public nuisance is against the law in most locales, and if there seems to be a conspiracy to defraud, well isn't that a crime worthy of investigating?

Although many of those in power -- either in government or 'activists with a following' -- seem to have forgotten, or ignored -- RIGHTS can not be doled out to a selected few on special occasions. It is the duty of government to protect ANY right equally. If it is against the law to 'offend' 'someone' then it must be against the law to offend anyone, particularly a citizen. In other words, 'government' must protect with EQUAL VIGOR the rights and privileges of ALL its CITIZENS. And the first 'collective person' repsonsible for protecting equally in all matters of law is a judge.

It is a judge who must weigh the merit of any lawsuit -- and common sense is critical in the weighing of such merit. Sadly, common sense seems to have no place in American jurisprudence. After all, if Fred provoked and Johnny reacted, why should it take a judge and battery of lawyers to decide whether Johnny reacted reasonably -- from Johnny's point of view? Quite clearly, the reaction to the Imam's was reasonable under today's circumstances since everything following the suspicious behavior was done 'in an orderly manner'. Now if the other passengers had rushed over and beat the daylights out of these guys, that might be another matter -- but no one did.

OldTimer
"Now if the other passengers had rushed over and beat the daylights out of these guys, that might be another matter -- but no one did."
Darn.

A Profiler
dYes. We should believe the followers of the love-filled,extremely peaceful and all- loving religion of Islam. BTW--- They will not kill you or your children. They promised!

Its too late...
...for moslems to change in many people's minds.

This blood-cult has show, repeatedly throughout the ages, that it has neither the intention nor the will to be a part of any reasonable culture. From the days of the pedophile prophet the have spoiled whatever they have touched. To expect anything different from those who follow this brigand, mohammed, is to be setting yourself up to be knocked down and ground under the heel of the moslems.

I've had my run-ins with these "people" if you ask me they are barbarians who do not wish to be part of the modern world, they would prefer dragging the rest of the world back to the seventh century with their mindset. Just be sure not to forget the modern weapons, it seems weapons are the only part of modern life they find useful.

I'd rather be dead than ever capitulate to the moslem hoards. I like to think that ANY American thinks this way but there has been too much in the news lately about people in government bowing down to them.

If we stay on the path we've been on, with PC and multiculturism, our country is going the way of the do-do and carrier pigeon, EXTINCT.

I am John Doe, sue me.

Flying I's
Like MLK I have a dream that these idiots will stop in the middle of an interstate Hwy and jump out and pray. The first 18 wheelers get the loudest bump-bump. Then there is the thought that it happens in San Fran and they are drug by an joyful crowd to the nearest bathouse!

Imams-advance force?
I really believe that what the Imams are doing are part of a march larger scheme to make Americans afraid to do or say anything that might be construed as Anti-Muslim. When this happens, watch out! There will be such a rash of terrorism in the US that it will make the Twin Towers seem like a minor event.

How' did this get back to bash LEFT?
Again the conservatives, authoritarian are so easily distracted and tempted at bashing the LEFT.

We where talking about 6 Imans suing for their shenanigans. How did the LEFT become the enemy. WHAT DOES IT MEAN. The left is synonymous with all that is wrong and evil? That is so easy. Who are the LEFT? Democrats? Jews? Blacks? Woman? What prejudice do you bring to the word LEFT or Liberal. I am sure the LEFT does not want to die in a plane from terrorist. YOU THINK, Duhhh.

I bet many who reported the 6 Imams where "LEFT". Those on flight 93, who fought the terrorist and died where LEFT, as well as all the americans who died on 9/11. So please shut up with the Us verse Them BS; We're all americans. You play into the terrorists hand when you say stupid things. I get so tired of this. Also I'd be embarrassed to be a "conservative" or "republican" after 6 years of Bush and GOP house rule. My party? American.

Yea....blaa, blaa, I know you have a dozen things to say about why the "LEFT" sucks, that you heard on a conservative talk radio shows: Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity and all of Fox news. Stop, its a waste of time and a distraction. If you don't have something intelligent to say, except repeat what you heard from these spewing rhetoric propaganda machines for the GOP, than don't talk. Get an ORIGINAL idea, your own, from all information, not just one source, one sided pundits paid to attack one side for political gain. GOD & NATION before PARTY. When you start with the Leftist or LEFT or liberals, I know intellectual honesty has already left the building.

IF YOU HAVE SPECIFICS THAN SAY THEM. GENERAL IGNORANCE AND PREJUDICE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Bottom line if "Osama Bin Laden" him self came out of his Pakistani cave and make a video saying he hates: Nancy Pelosi, Hillery Clinton, Ted Kennedy, Dems, Liberals and the Left........ the GOP, Neo-Con's, republicans, and right wing media would embrace him. Gee Bin Laden ain't so bad. STOP FIGHTING FELLOW AMERICANS, THEY ARE NOT THE ENEMY.

STOP patting yourself on the back on how smart you are and how only you understand what's going on. That is a GOP talking point, "A vote for the Dems is a vote for the terrorist", "Cowards". Barf.

With that said BIG applauds to House Republicans pushing legislation to protect airline passengers who report suspicious behavior. Its sad they even have to do that. Not sure it is needed. May be its a message to the Imams. Federal law is already clear about behavior on commercial planes.

However the fact is you're penalized for frivolous law suits, because you have to defend yourself, which is expensive. Problem in general with the legal system is there are no penalties for bringing frivolous lawsuits to court (6 Imam's). The legislation, I believe, makes the person suing pay for court cost and legal fees if they lose. If not it should.

All tort law should be reformed with anti-frivolous lawsuit protection, but it would cut into the lawyers business. They have a big special interest lobby, so that will not happen (which is big problem in our goverment if you did not notice and applies to both parties).

Bottom line we are getting terrorized in our own court system.

The islamic fundamentalist do laugh at and exploit our freedom, which is what they really hate and fear. Because given freedom they would not choose Islamic fundamentalism. We must have civil protection and rule of law, even for militant Iman's or a terrorist, as the case may be.

As an airline pilot I have seen militant passengers. THEY ARE OFF MY PLANE IN A HEART BEAT. It has nothing to do with what they are wearing, race, color or creed. It is totally about one thing, safety.

Why the Left? This is why.
Jetpilot, unfortunately, the left has given many of us plenty of reasons to be suspicious of their intentions as we fight the defensive part of this was on civilization.

It is the left that loudly objects to us detaining terrorists in Guantanamo.

It is the left that's trying to confer constitutional rights on unlawful combatants (i.e. terrorists)

It is the left that's dead-set against domestic surveillance programs, which are one of our (few) hopes to defend ourselves against terrorist threats.

It is the left that wants us to cut out of Iraq, suffering International embarrassment and all but losing the current phase of the war.

It is the left that rails about global warming being a more clear and present danger than radical Islam (which is even unmentionable in their fantastic playbook).

It is the left that considers racial profiling a greater threat to our society than the possibility of another group of fanatics killing another 3,000 Americans.

It is the left (especially the International left) that considers America in general and Bush in particular to be the root problem in the world.

It is the left that had displayed more concern for how Mr. KSM may have been treated than a sense of just relief about his being found guilty of orchestrating barbaric atrocities.

And I could go on and on. Mind you, when I say "left" I don't only include Democrats, but, sadly, a huge percentage of Republicans and even Libertarians--but still, many of us wonder why the left is all but openly cheerleading for the West's defeat in this struggle.

I agree with you that the Islamic fundamentalists are laughing at our society.

Jetpilot
YOU said it all!
Imams are NOT in some Arab country, AND if you can't abide by the Rules of the USA, you are welcome to return to wherever you came from.
If they win this lawsuit, I WILL NEVER fly again.
And where ever this lawsuit is filed, we need American citizens outside the courthouse protesting that we "have rights also", and one of them is to fly in peace.
It wasn't anyone's Granny who blew the trade centers, it was radical muslims! Period!
Jetpilot, I want to be on your airplane, because it sounds like you are looking out for US.
Thanks for that,
Mary

my 2 cents
"The Flying Imams"

Sounds like the name of a sketch that might show up on SNL.

naaah

"Crazy Christians"?

"Bottom line we are getting terrorized in our own court system"

You are correct. It is Left leaning judges who have been legislating from the bench for way too long who have given lawbreakers a pass and not protected US citizens.
Check out the 9th Circuit Court (US), and its decisions on criminal's rights vs citizens rights.
Not the Left? You are living in a dream world.

Islam and Imams
Do not forget that the last words of the terrorists who killed many Americans on September 11, 2001 was "Allah Akbar". Now, I don't think allah is very akbar if his followers believe that killing innocent people glorifies him or his religion. Yet, that has been their history since the time of Mohammed.

To get a clear idea of what islam is and what it represents, you must look at its entire history. During Mohammed's time, Arabia was a fragmented tribal society. While some arabs lived in trading cities centered along the coast or around the oases, and a few practiced subsistence agriculture in the few areas of arable land, most were bedouin wanderers who followed their livestock from place to place. These bedouin, in addition to practicing an environmentally destructive form of agriculture(they would let their animals eat until they had totally consumed the grass leaving only more desert in their wake), would raid the various trading caravans for whatever goods they could steal. Religiously, there were Orthodox Christians(both Catholic and what we today call Eastern Orthodox since they hadn't split yet), Nestorian Christians(who denied the trinity), Jews, Zoroastrians and the majority of arabs who were Pagans.(The black rock that modern muslims worship at Mecca is a vestige of this paganism).

Mohammed was a member of the ruling class of the tribe that controlled Mecca, a major trading center along the caravan routes. He was the loser of a dispute over the tribal leadership of the city and fled to Medina, a rival trading center. Had he not fled, he would have been killed under the normal practice of the day.

While at Medina, Mohammed worked to return in triumph to Mecca. His pseudo-religion is part of that effort. He was familiar with the concept of monotheism due to his contacts with the trading caravans. In fact, it was the Jewish community at Medina that first gave him shelter from his foes. So, he married the concept of one God to traditional bedouin arab concepts such as plunder, rape and murder and gave it religious sanction. Thus he was able to conquer not only Mecca, but all of Arabia as well.

His "relgion" didn't stop at the Arabian peninsula. He, and his successors, defeated the Persians and the Byzantines(Romans), and spread their religion throughout the middle east and north africa entirely by the sword. The choice given was to convert or die. A century after Mohammed's death, his followers were defeated at Tours thus sparing Europe from barbarianism. NO ONE HAS EVER VOLUNTARILY CONVERTED TO islam.

The tenets of islam run counter to those of most religions. For example, the Bible says, "Thou shalt not kill" and "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's property". These are also concepts found in most of the world's religions. Islam says its ok to kill thy neighbor and steal his property as long as he isn't a fellow muslim. Its also ok if he is a fellow muslim, but a different kind of muslim. (Shia vs. Sunni for example).

There are a lot of other problems with islam. In our modern world, they are alone in the practice of slavery. The genocide at Darfur in the Sudan is the result of arab muslims attempting to enslave Black Africans. During our own shameful practice of slavery, it was African muslims who sold their fellow Africans into slavery. They believe in the dehumanization and subjugation of women. Look at the burkha and the veil. Those are practiced nowhere else in the world.

A quick look around the world indicates that most of the conflicts in today's world involve islam. Either islam is attempting to impose itself over unwilling peoples(Nigeria, the Sudan, the Indo-Pakistani dispute, Mindinao in the Phillipines)or it is attempting to finish the job that Hitler started(elimination of Jews and Israel). In other areas of the world, the fighting is muslim vs muslim like children fighting on a playground over who gets to play on the teeter-totter first. Thus, the conflict in Iraq.

I think the evidence is clear. Islam is not a religion. It is an endorsement of barbaric practices masquerading as a religion. As such, those Imams have no standing to sue anybody and should get down on their knees and pray to God for forgiveness and thank Him for being allowed to live in an enlightened society as opposed to the disfunctional and backward societies from which they spawned.

Flying Imams
Dear Ms. Saunders,

Did it ever occur to you that this whole event was too well orchestrated, too instantly released to the media? This nation has no objection to an American praying in public - BUT if an American is spouting anti-American statements, calling them prayer, then the prayer becomes suspicious- especially when they praise Saddam Hussein, and in loud voices? We're at war with his country, remember? Why weren't these "Imams" saying a prayer for the troops in Iraq? The whole plane load of passengers would probably have joined in.

As for all the commotion to make a blind member of the party comfortable, THAT is the job of the stewqardess. You tell her when you get on board that this man has special needs. She/he will give that passenger special attention throughout the flight.

The sum total of all the actions of these so-called "Imams," should definitely raise suspicion among other passengers - I amongst them.

Wake up!

posted, "How did the LEFT become the enemy?"

Well, assuming your question wasn't rhetorical, the LEFT is the enemy because a large percentage of the LEFT (when did we start capitalizing "left"?) promotes socialism in the USA. They are anti-capitalists, advocating redistribution of income and egalitarianism (both politically and economically), with a small bunch of the LEFT's elites running the country.

The LEFT demands a sea change in America: socialism would give the LEFT a hegemonic stance in American politics (i.e., destroy the Republican Party's base) and create a egalitarian class through taxation (i.e., tax the rich).

The elite of the LEFT see a chance for enormous power, and the masses see a chance to get a lot of money through the redistribution of wealth. Of course, they won't see much money because the "rich" will become anyone making over $30 K.

And that, JP, is why the LEFT is the enemy.

Duh.

PHYLLIS
Good post; I agree.

I think that the "Flying Imams" should be thanking allah that the Americans on that aircraft didn't pull a Flight 93 on them.

Next stop...The Tonight Show

Personally I prefer "The Dancing Itos" but if Leno thinks up something cool...like firing these guys out of a cannon to get them to their destination then "The Flying Imams" could turn out to be a big hit......

dollface

You overstate a few things (i.e. "Nobody has ever voluntarily converted --") but many of the points you raise are worth discussing in greater depth. I hope somebody else jumps in here.

By the way, there was an excellent article in Saturday's Wall Street Journal about a moderate Muslim working in Indonesia. I've sometimes felt that the search for a "moderate" Muslim is a bit like the ancient Greek's futile, lifelong search for "an honest man." However, this case sounds authentic. The WSJ is not a left wing rag that makes excuses for hating the West or indulges in a lot of wishful thinking. I suggest you check out the story.

To Be Serious Though

CAIR is a dangerous organization. Two of its founders are currently serving time for terrorist related offenses.
The Imams were more than likely (though not provable) in concert with CAIR prior to the event.
Whether they were attempting to degrade security through the current lawsuit tactic (make passengers fear similar lawsuits) or by physically going through the motions to find out just how far they can go, how much they can get away with before actions become "suspicious" to the "tolerant" American public we won't be able to know either.

The bill filed by Representative King(R-NY) is a good first step toward assuring some level of security beyond the boarding gates or train platforms.
The best defense at this point is a vigilant public.
We forget that at our own peril.

Peruse Anti-CAIR
for insight regarding the statements made by Muslims, and CAIR:http://www.anti-cair-net.org/

Before 9/11, many believed Islam is just another faith. Now, many have read the Qur'ran and the hadiths for insight. It is not just a religion, it is a way of life, and totally political.

Mohammed was not a good guy, nor a prophet, instead he was a profit minded, megalomaniac. All the wars he fought were not only for defensive purposes, but to enforce conversion by the sword, and to pillage, rape, and plunder for power, prestige and wealth.

I am not a Christian, nor Jew, but a Deist. None of the prophets I have read about (i.e. Jesus, Abraham, Moses) pillaged, plundered, raped in the name of God. Sure, Moses had people stoned to death for violating the Ten Commandments, but did not enter the Promised Land, as he violated the laws as well.

Take some of these incedents
and log them into your memory banks for future use.
It might give a point of reference for when we try to figure out where it all went wrong. Though they are in no particular order...

1) Dems take control of Congress after 2006 campaign lies bought by public and Republicans stay home.

2) Court rules 'profiling' unconstitutional (& X number of ninety year old grandmothers must be stripped search for every X number of Muslims)

3) The flying Imams (sue John Doe passengers & airline & anyone else who thought they were acting 'strangely')

4) Boston Mayor gives $4 million 'gift' of city owned land to CAIR for construction of Mosque (paying no mind to the FACT that mosques are major recruiting centers of terrorists)

5) US Rep. Keith Ellison refuses to take oath of office on Bible, insists on being sworn in on the Koran

6) Cabbies in Minneapolis refuse to transport alcohol in their 'public' taxis

7) US allows Venezuelan company (read: Hugo Chavez owned company) to make their voting machines

8) John Walker Linde(?) & Jose Padilla

9) House Speaker Pelosi visits enemy of US & announces 'new Israeli doctrine' embarrassing America (one can only guess what she promised the US doctrine would be)

10) Hollywood Leftists voice their own "Foreign Policy" for US (ie. Darfur)

Hi Lynne
How have you been? Hope you are having a nice Easter Suday.

CAIR is allowed to lobby Congress as well...
The Imams are just the tip of THAT iceberg. BUT until we wake up and get beyond the PC induced thought process we will suffer from our lack of understanding about this 'religion' and its adherents.

I keep hearing talk of there being 'moderate' muslims but have yet to see evidence that if it is true the 'moderate' wing of Islam is in the vast minority.

Americans find it hard to believe and, therefore cannot come to grips with the type of barbarism we are dealing with.

When the "religion of peace" actually teaches its children the holocaust is a myth and the western classrooms (Great Britain most recently) refuse to teach the true history for fear of 'insulting' the deniers then something is terribly wrong.

This is, as President Bush has warned, going to be a long, bumpy road. And if we don't want to break down along the way we better take stock soon of what we need to complete the journey safely.

Again, Have a Peaceful Easter.

making a spectacle
There's a difference between praying, which we've seen all our lives, and making a spectacle. Muslims can find an out of the way place and pray quietly the same as everybody else. What these imams did was series of provocative actions, and a jury should make sure they get nothing but a bill for legal fees for the defendants.

statements like this

Bottom line if "Osama Bin Laden" him self came out of his Pakistani cave and make a video saying he hates: Nancy Pelosi, Hillery Clinton, Ted Kennedy, Dems, Liberals and the Left........ the GOP, Neo-Con's, republicans, and right wing media would embrace him. Gee Bin Laden ain't so bad. STOP FIGHTING FELLOW AMERICANS, THEY ARE NOT THE ENEMY.

put YOU squarely on THE LEFT!

The stunt was staged
The imams' behavior was clearly designed to instill fear. The whole thing was staged, much as a "slip-and-fall" con artist stages a fall in a Wal-Mart produce aisle. If we recall, immediately after the incident, there was a flurry of press releases condemning the ejections. One of them was from Keith Ellison, the first (and hopefully the last) elected Muslim in Congress. Ellison participated in the imams' convention in the days leading up to the airline incident. The press releases came so quickly that it is almost certain they had been prepared before the incident.

The imams' "in-your-face" antics of speaking loudly in Arabic while facing Mecca with their arses stuck in the air was a deliberate advertisement. It said "Let everyone know. We are Mohammedans. We share the religion of the Magnificent Nineteen who brought down the Twin Towers in the name of Allah. We believe in the Koran which teaches that it is Allah's will to subjugate or destroy all non-Muslims on earth."

As if their pre-boarding misbehavior was not enough, once on board they spread themselves on the plane in the same manner as the 9/11 hijackers. The people who saw what was going on had a moral responsibility to report it, and the airline has a duty to get those guys off the plane.

It's not the passengers or the airline that are responsible for this situation. As long as Islam is synonymous with hatred, intolerance and barbarism, its followers must be viewed with the suspicion they have earned.

GnuCarSmell: Yeah
Once again, it's interesting how we're supposed to conform our whole society to accommodate the desires of the few to be not only different, but provocative.

Tail wags dog, news at 11.

Our current Foreign Policy:

For many years, oil has been bought around the world in U.S. dollars. Each country that purchased oil therefore had to maintain a large position in U.S. dollars. Recently, that started changing....

Saddam stopped accepting U.S. Dollars for oil. Iran threatens to setup an oil bourse and do likewise.

I think our foreign policy right now has largely to do with propping up the U.S. Dollar. Unfortunately, our dollar is in very real danger of totally collapsing.

Remember, our U.S. dollar is not backed by gold any longer. It is a piece of paper, backed up by a wing and a prayer and the world is losing confidence in this piece of paper, as we go deeper in debt and our manufacturing base is shipped overseas.

Lynne: Yeah, good question
Hope it goes before a judge with some sense who dismisses it with prejudice, I guess.

Liberty: true enough but
Those who could topple the dollar have more to lose than we do. Take away oil revenues from Iran and they have almost literally nothing. Japan and China, everyone really, being so dependent on exports to the US would see their economies collapse. We are not in the best situation we could be in but we are still masters of our own domain until we choose otherwise. I would rather be us than anyone else. We have more and better cards to play.

Craig C
Thank you for the links! I had never given thought to the imams "staging" this event, but after reading the one link and reading other posts here, I have to say it does look to be exactly that. What I want to know is if these imams are US citizens? If not, how can they be filing a lawsuit that their US civil rights were infringed upon? It's kind of like that illegal Mexican drug dealer who is filing (or already has?) a lawsuit after supposedly being shot in the a** by a US Border Agent. I don't get it. He is not a citizen, he is an illegal alien! Give me a break.

Ann Coulter said something to the effect that US Air was her choice from now on. I followed up on that and sent an email to the CEO of US Airways in support of their actions against the imams.
Also, regarding CAIR, Michael Savage has them pegged as "The Enemy Within" and he is right on.

Phil, I certainly agree with you that this used to be the case, but now, China is emerging as a powerhouse (thanks to now having what used to be OUR manufacturing base). Their energy needs are skyrocketing. China is also a very large holder of our debt, which is why we probably don't push them too hard on the huge trade imbalance.

There are a lot of forces out there that could give our dollar the last shake. That's all it would take. I personally don't think it is wise to have put ourselves into this position to begin with. There was no reason for it. That is, no reason that benefited America. I would much rather we had a sound dollar that was backed by something of value such as gold so that our economy and the soundness of our dollar wouldn't be at the whim of a foreign country or anyone else.

We are repeating the same mistakes that other countries made, whose currencies collapsed.

Lynne: I don't know
I'm not even sure a suit HAS in fact been filed. For all I know they're just rattling their sabers.

They could file in Minneapolis where the flight originated, or I suppose they could file in Fed court as the FAA has jurisdiction over all things having to do with the airways.

What's really interesting is that -- and I know this because I'm a pilot -- through the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) the pilot in command of any aircraft is endowed with absolute authority over all operational apsects of the aircraft he's commanding, including go/no go, forced debarkation of passengers, etc.

I don't see where they have a legal leg to stand on, frankly.

Flying Imams and all things Islamic
should be outlawed in this country. I believe this country should remove recognition from this hate-filled group as a religion. I believe all Mosques and all Islamic groups should be outlawed in the same manner as the Nazi's were outlawed at one time in America. I see more similarities between Nazi's the Ku Klux Klan and Islamic fundamentalist groups than can be safely accommodated in this country. All Muslims who are not citizens should be deported. To the extent that any of these flying Imams are citizens, they should be arrested for seditious behavior. We are at war with Islamic fundamentalists not against a tactic, terror. It is time we treated this as a war and removed constitutional protections from our enemies.

Dude3344, Lynne
Dude, that is exactly the right attitude to have, for many reasons. Good for you.

Lynne: I guess we'll see how it shakes out, but this has all the trappings of a Jesse Jackson-type corporate shakedown, on top of everything else.

Liberty
I can't find any flaw in your logic and I agree with how you model it. I too am very uncomfortable with the "global village" but I think China is not yet the threat that you seem to think it is and I don't see them being able to sustain their growth for the thirty plus years it will take for them to come close to challenging us economically. They have built a very flawed model based on a very rigged system. Their "free markets" are finding equilibrium points that fulfill their short-term goals but the hidden tax of self-deceit will eventually surface and their greatest fear, domestic instability, will ensue. They will need us to avoid that.

I think you are greatly underestimating the strength of the US economy and the resiliency of our markets. In the past twenty plus years, we have endured economic hits that would have tanked every other economy on earth yet you would never know it looking at how strong our economy is. There isn't a prosperous country that stands to gain more than they will lose by taking us out. It's like Iran threatening to cut off its oil from the world. "Don't push me! I'll blow my brains out and the noise will wake up the baby!"

We have the technology and natural resources to survive whatever catastrophe that may be thrown at us. The real question is whether we have the will to accept the temporary discomfort.

Fly Away Imams
The ones who worry me most are those who portray themslves as "moderate Muslims," a term that's turned out to be an oxymoron. Anyone who wants to know what many -- too many -- Muslims are up to should read Ayaan Hirsi Ali's "Infidel," the story of her terrifying life in the Islamic world -- and after, when she lives under death threats from Islamo-fascists. I've written two pieces about her lately at my site: http://camp2008victory.townhall.com. I'd love to hear your thoughts on them.

Debra Saunders has long been one of my favorite columnists. She appears from time to time on Howard Kurtz's "Reliable Sources" (CNN), where he invites her as a "token conservative." However, she more than holds her own.

I agree with your post that they are not going to keep me from reporting suspicious behavior.

I saw Judge Napolitano on Fox say that judge in this case will probably order the names of the passengers to be turned over to the imams lawyers as it is discovery. The two people who originally reported the incident was an elderly couple.

For anyone else: Chapter X is on my blog now of Juliet's diary.

JETPILOT
In the house vote for Rep. King's bill that would outlaw the ability to sue John Doe for reporting suspicious behavior, there were 126 votes against his bill.....all 126 votes against the bill were cast by Democrats. Very telling indeed!

CAIR THREATENS TO SUE
CAIR discredited Nonie Darwish in a letter to the editor in our local paper. I responded with a letter of my own. I noted CAIR's relationship to terrorism and their sponsership of a radical Muslim cleric in a 1998 speaking tour of the U.S. During that engagement the cleric called Jews the "sons of monkeys and apes". CAIR denied the allegation and threatend litigation against the paper that printed my letter. Even though I had a flyer that clearly listed CAIR as a co-sponsor, the paper caved and printed a retraction. Unless Americans find their collective spine, we will see CAIR intimidate anyone or any institution that dares to criticise them. They are using our system of governance against us so they can be free to destroy our way of life and our freedom without penalty.

Liberty: on gold
I am very aware of, and am fully invested in gold but not because of its relationship to the dollar. In fact, it doesn't appear to be counter correlated to the dollar but trading purely on its own supply/demand. My theory is that gold is becoming the most efficient currency for conducting international trade. It greatly reduces the need for expensive and inefficient currency hedging. I can't prove it but more and more countries seem to be diversifying away from the dollar which is making it increasingly expensive to hedge. It is easier to peg against gold than a basket of currencies. Like I said, I can't prove it. But someone is buying all that gold. Could also be that with more countries participating in the growing global economy, the developing countries are building their gold reserves. Whatever it is, I don't think it is that related to the strength of the dollar which is at the lower end of its normal trading range.

Pepp: Yeah, that's just great
So the John Doe names of an elderly couple are turned over to the Muslims' lawyer so he can sue them and harrass them and make them spend all their retirement funding on lawyers to defend themselves against specious charges.

Sounds like we're getting close to the time for my recently dormant but maybe again applicable "12 cent bullet" solution.

As far as I am concerned
the Imams each need to have an accident. I will cry crocodile tears at their demise. We are at war, and they are spies. They are here to undermine our nation and to work in the interest of those who say every day that they plan to kill us all.

Anything that can be done to rid our society of this scum should be done. If any liberal finds that comment offensive, then they took it in the way it was intended.

CAIR is

not the peaceful organization they want you to think they are.

It was only after heavy public criticism, and nearly four years had passed, that they came out in a statement denouncing the 9/11 attacks, July 2005, almost four years.

They are Mohammedans, it matters only to what degree they are willing to go to to convert you.

God help you if you speak out against Mohammed.

COMMUNITY NEWS:

With hopes of building on the wildly popular 6 Imam Flight, The Council on American Islamic Relations, borrowing the theme of the Million Mom March and the Million Man March is planning to hold the first annual Million Imam March this June. CAIR National Communications Director and WIED Radio’s wacky morning show personality, Ibrahim “Dearborn Doug” Hooper, whom will emcee the event, promises the event will be “chock full of entertainment, games, prizes and surprises that are sure to be a hit with Imams of all ages”. The event, financed by US Airways through the American Bar Association will include:

Celebrities - The Fabulous Flying Imams. who are kicking off their reunion tour
- Comic Muqtada al-Sadr fresh from Iran via Las Vagas.

Games - “Musical Chairs in US Air”
- “Button Button, Who Has the Button”
- “Stone the Shameful Hussy” (participants are asked to bring their own stones and women)
- “Pin the Manuscript on the Infidel Playwright”

Prizes - Mohammed Atta autographed copy of Sky Mall catalog.
- Genuine pieces of World Trade Center rubble.
- Cat Stevens Greatest Hits CD

Booths - Food
- Refreshments
- Female Genital Mutilation

Hooper, conceding a million Imams is an ambitious target, commented: “When we wanted to book a half of a dozen Imams for the 6 Imams Flight, they said it couldn’t be done. Well, we got that far and now we only need 999,994 more!” Hedging his bets, Hooper continued, “If we fall a few short it will still be an explosive event!”

Why Bash the Left!
Jetpilot writes: We where talking about 6 Imans suing for their shenanigans.
Why the left? simple it is the left Micheal Moore, Ward (Tonto) Churchill, and the rest of their ilk. When someone looks at the $h1t storm this created how do you think the left would have reacted to an FBI response to the Phoenix memo? Multiculturalism is not a creation of the Conservatives. That Jetpilot is why I blame the left. I am John Doe!

Insanity in the US...
I'm sorry, but did I miss a memo?
Weren't we SUPPOSED to be more suspicious on flights after several flights were hijacked and flown into buildings?
Here's the deal, attorneys should be DYING to represent the people these Imams plan on suing.
The state should bring a counter suit for endangering the safety of the public and bringing fraudulent lawsuits before the court.
Here is my manifesto for airtravel:
I am an American.
I do not wish to be frightened, either accidentally or on purpose.
If you intend to fly in this country, you should also refuse to be afraid.
You should also be careful not to cause fear. If you do, we will report you.
The airlines should remove people who behave suspiciously and question them. They should call homeland security when people behave suspiciously before they board the plane, and doubly so if they behave improperly on the plane.
We refuse to be frightened so you can make a political statement. All we want is to go from one place to another in quiet and relative safety.
If you ask for seatbelt extenders and then don't use them, give them back to the flight attendants. Storing them makes us think you are obtaining a weapon.
Thanks to 9/11, you are now required to sit in the seat assigned to you. Don't try and skirt this. If you do, do so by asking a flight attendant politely. If they refuse, suck it up like the rest of us. I once flew from Chicago to Arizona, while on vacation with a girlfriend, and we didn't sit together. It wasn't ideal, but we dealt with it. So should you.
And we will continue to bring our concerns to the authrorities - you will not scare us away by bringing us to court and attempting to ruin our lives by dragging us into your political statement du jour.
End of manifesto.
I am sorry if you are of arab descent and don't like the fact that the rest of us get nervous when you act weird around airline terminals and on planes.
You can thank the islamo-facists who turned airliners into weapons.
I apologize that this forces you to behave with some consideration for other people. It is called being a good citizen and if you don't like it, feel free to move back to Iran or whatever middle eastern country you choose.
I have a right to safe airtravel and I am not willing to give that up so you can replay the actions that was reportedly taken by the people who murdered innocent americans on 9/11.
I also issue this threat, which should be echoed by our law enforcement - If you behave oddly, we will take you off the plane and question you. You can, of course, circumvent this easily by behaving in a non-threatening way.
Don't like it? Don't fly.

Jeffislouie
"Don't like it? Don't fly."

What? And exercise common sense? What are you, a conservative or something?

brianr...
it would appear that some point around 2005, I started looking at what the Democrats were doing and wondering if they cared, even a little bit, about what their actions actually represent.
In 2006, I started questioning their integrity.
Now, in 2007, I sit back regularly and wonder at their corruption and singlular focus on how 'bad' Bush is...
A life long Democrat, I watched my parents switch from liberal to conservative. I watched my brother do the same. The lone liberal in my family, I used to argue tooth and nail with them. Now, I look at my father - who helped get Dick Durbin elected - and realize why he abandoned the left....
I announced yesterday to my family that I am switching affiliations. While I don't agree with everything the right does, I do agree with them far more than I do the left....
Sad to see a party fall apart while turning on itself.
I'm out of it now. Their fault.
I would wager that I am not alone.

Yep, Jefflouis and Lynne
I agree!

Welcome!

"Racial Profiling is my key to comfortable air travel for the future. However nutballs can be anywhere, just look at the Courts, or either House of Congress!"

Just so you don't rely too much on it because it doesn't work reliably. We have converts to Islam here in the USA and they are not of middle east descent. Some in Europe are still mystified as to what persuaded a blonde Catholic in Belgium to convert to Islam (where women have NO rights -- not even the right to life) and go to the Middle East and blow herself up.

Racial profiling is an example of what to be wary of; on matters of airport security the Dhimmicrats waxed extremely indignant BUT when it came to a US owned company in Dubai leasing the equivalent of store space in a shopping mall (and everything would be under the purview of Customs, Immigration, FBI, DEA, FDA, Coast Guard and the local police) those same Dhimmicrats resorted to racial profiling!! No wonder that I never considered running even for a local office; I can't flip-flop the way professional politicians do.

Personally, I prefer to drive anyway but the Dhimmicrats want to make that unaffordable by oushing the price of gasoline to five bucks per gallon in order to ram their sodialist agenda down our collective throat.
