Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

What happens when the left-leaning media is confronted with a left-wing attack on a media outlet?

The full-scale attack on Fox News by faux-populist Democrat Presidential Candidate John Edwards and the Nevada Democratic Party is going to be presenting some serious issues for the mainstream media, even if they don’t understand that yet.

John Edward and the Nevada Democratic Party have dumped Fox News as a sponsor for intra-party debates. Fox News, they argue, is an element of the Vast Right Wing conspiracy tm, and as such should be denounced as a propagandist and not a legitimate journalistic enterprise.

Now it's not shocking that the far left would be shopping this spin, but mainstream liberals are joining the chorus—and there has been a remarkable silence among the "mainstream media" defending Fox as a legitimate journalistic enterprise. In fact, many of them probably believe that the accusations are largely correct.

The failure to defend Fox News by other news outlets is part of a dangerous and disturbing trend.

Imagine, for instance, a situation where President Bush ejected hostile reporters from the White House Press Room. The firestorm would be immense, accusing Bush of trying to turn the news media into his mouthpiece. Helen Thomas comes to mind; nobody could possibly question her open hostility to the Bush Administration, yet her ejection from the Press Corps would be greeted with howls of indignation.

Not so the attacks on Fox News.

In today's world, many in the news media don't see their role as writing the first draft of history. They aren’t witnesses, but participants themselves in the ideological battles of their day. And until Fox News came along, pretty much everyone sang off the same song sheet, telling a coherently liberal picture of the news of the day.

Fox News’ failure to conform to liberal unanimity is a problem for them, and they have wanted to strike back for years.

But there is a huge problem with that desire. The latest polls show that 83% of Americans think the media is biased; admittedly that includes a few liberals who think that it isn't liberal enough. Still, 63% of Americans, including a good chunk of liberals, think that the media is biased leftward.

The success of the Nevada Democrats in banning Fox from its debates could turn out to be a real problem for the liberal media. The success of the attack is encouraging liberals in the media to pile on, and directly attack Fox as well.

Ron Brownstein, the L.A. Time's national affairs columnist, took a direct shot at Fox in a recent column, endorsing the Democrat attack. "For all the howling on the right, it's difficult to argue that mainstream news organizations operate with anything approaching Fox' partisan and ideological agenda," Brownstein argued.

However satisfying it may be for liberals in the media to go down this path, it could turn out to be a mistake. The mainstream news media has retained its hold a particularly powerful place in our national politics by insisting on its objectivity, despite massive evidence to the contrary.

Everybody already knows that the overwhelming majority of reporters vote Democrat, but media mavens have kept claiming that their political views don’t skew their news coverage. But a recent academic study which actually scored the political tilt of news stories makes it clear that the actual coverage of politics leans left as well. The vaunted "objectivity" that liberal reporters claim is pure bunk. In fact, according to this study Fox News is one of the least biased news outlets, just slightly to the right of ABC’s World News Tonight. (You can find the study at http://www.polisci.ucla.edu/faculty/groseclose/pdfs/MediaBias.pdf)

All this points to a serious problem that honest liberals and serious moderates are going to be facing soon: the recent political victories of Democrats has emboldened the crazy left wing of the Party, and has encouraged some of the more partisan liberals in the media. As they spin ever more bizarre theories, make wilder and wilder claims (the New Republic is publishing an article claiming to prove Vice President Dick Cheney is clinically insane, for instance), serious people will be repulsed.

Conservatives have known for years that they haven't exactly gotten a fair shake in the media, although until recently none of us expected mainstream news sources to invent stories (as CBS did in their 60 Minutes attack on Bush’s military record) or distort the truth beyond recognition (as the New York Times has done with the Valerie Plame/Scooter Libby story).

But the rules are changing, and the liberal hatred of and attacks on Fox News could prove to be the undoing of the liberal media. The attack on Fox News and the increasingly shrill attacks on the Bush Administration come perilously close to open partisan warfare, which in the long run could be much more damaging to the liberal media than to the conservatives they hate so much. By legitimizing the attack on media outlets as simple partisan outlets, they open themselves up to the scrutiny they so richly deserve, and cannot survive.

Technology not politics
How many of you on this site use the MSM as your main news source? How many people at DailyKos use the MSM as their regular news source?

My guess is not many of us do, and the coming generation will be completely web connected. I expect blogging and vlogging will be the main news sources for the next generation, and that the this will kill the traditional tv news as it is killing the newspapers already.

Just because...
...a news organization reports something you don't like, it doesn't mean it is biased. Have you ever thought that maybe the guys running country are crimminally incompetant screwups? Iraq, "Axis of Evil", Shock and Awe, Mission Accomplished, Abramoff and Delay, Katrina, Wilson and Plame, WMDs, and on and on and on.

Let us see:

AXIS OF EVIL
North Korea, Iran, and Iraq, or Syria? may be heinz57 would like to rename them the Axis of Angels?
SHOCK AND AWE?
Yes they were shocked and awed.
Mission accomplished?
Saddam hiding in a rat hole instead of running the country.
ABRAMOFF?
Have you forgotten about Jeffersons "frozen dough? Abscam Jack Murtha? "I did not have sex with that women" Bill Clinton? Just another influence peddler, of which there are many in D.C.
KATRINA?
People who chose to live in a below sea level swamp who expect to be bailed out by the government(also known as "Big Daddy" by heinz57), when things don't go well for them?
WILSON AND PLAME?
Wilson-proven liar
Plame-boob job bleach blonde whom I am sure was a Maxwell Smart super spy out on the job... oh I forgot, she was womaning a desk in D.C. at the time. Did she ever get to use the cone of silence? And why isn't Dick Armitage being prosecuted for revealing her name, or at least her plastic surgeon's name!
WMD's
I am certain that you are correct in asserting that President Bush was the only person in the world that said Iraq possessed WMDs. So certain, I am willing to sell you the Brooklyn Bridge for a special price! Smoke some more, pal.

For those who did not read
For those that did not check the link
for cable news/commentary shows
Fox had 15 of the top 20 CNN 2 of 20. This is from an unbiased source.
Talk about market share again.

Strange comment
I read the comment, "Does anyone care to guess who is going to push for a return to the fairness doctrine after market forces take the right's Fox News off the air?" and wonder what sort of alternate reality the author is experiencing. To the best of my knowledge, markket forces have pretty well destroyed Air America, but Fox News continues to succeed.
As for the idea that the author is implying, that if Fox News were to go off the air, the conservatives would push for a return of the (un)fairness doctfrine, that is patently absurd. The conservatives deal with fact, and the self-styled "liberals," in unsupported allegations and lies. Note the earlier comment the Fox News has lied more often than the New York Times, a comment unsupported by any evidence, despite a challenge to so do.

One more observation
Even if FOX news were a mouthpiece of the RNC, who does Edwards think he will be running against in November? Tinkerbell? Tiny Tim ?

A Democrat once made an observation " if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen"
I guess Edwards got out of the kitchen.

Liberal Democrats and the Left
Liberal Democrats and the Left still amaze me. After Bernie Goldberg's book and several liberal university studies that clearly detail that the media is liberally bias and why, they still love and defend them. Now stacks of evidence that several of the broadcast TV news networks and the so called USA newspaper of record the NY Times have all made up news stories over the past decades and tried to ruin people's careers in doing so, our friends on the Left are still in denial, still defending them.

Of course the Left actually love Fox News because that gives them a news organization to hate as most conservatives have hated the rest of the news media for so long. Of course we all know that if you are conservative by the left's definitions then you must be an evil fascists. Of course the left's definition is whatever they say it is today. The Democrats and the Left never lie only Republicans and conservatives. Funny how that is.

Another reason to worry

No matter whether you like or hate them,
it appears that Fox gets people's attention.
You can compare them to the Inquirer, but they do get the viewers. Could it be the MSM is jealous?

http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/original/feb07ranker.pdf

To DavidMac
We didn't see it on Fox either. Regardless of what the libtards on here say Fox is NOT a conservative news organization. I guess if you 30 degrees left of Marx everything is rightwing to you.

Worth posting a link

MSM has reason to fear FOX
EVERY MSM news channel is constantly loosing viewers in a situation where the population is growing and TV channels need to gain viewers just to stay even.
FOX is constantly gaining viewers at an ever increasing rate.
Viewing audience governs what you can charge for advertising.

When NORMAL people tune in the news, they want to see all the news, good & bad.
MSM does not broadcast news, they spoon feed political propaganda and fabricated news to Leftists who's intellect is too low to notice they are being stroked and something is missing.
Common sense tells any normal person that SOMETHING must happen sometime that Republicans would consider "Good News" but you will NEVER see it broadcast by MSM.

Anyone who leaves MSM in search of real news quickly learns that MSM censors and enhances news stories, even fabricates outright political lies.
Most normal people tune to the news for FACT not MSM fiction. That is why they are loosing viewers to FOX.

Peppermint
posted, "The only cable news who reports both sides of any story is Fox."

True.

The recent "anti-war" protestors in D.C. were outnumbered 3 to 1 by the pro-America crowd. Did anyone see that on the broadcast media? Probably not.

Reminds me of the old joke about USSR propaganda: At the Olympics, in a final race for the medals between 3 countries, the Soviets won the bronze and the Americans got the silver, but Pravda reported, "In the medal race, the Soviets won the bronze medal but the imperialist Americans finished next to last."

Fox news
Fox news is the National Enquirer of broadcast "news". It favors the sensational over the news and bias to objectivity. At least the National Enquirer is credited with being the first to break the anthrax story of 2001. What is Fox news' contribution to society?

Fox new is not a news organization, but a tabloid. Not a very good one at that. Hooray for Nevadans for not lending them the air of respectability as co-hosts for the program.

Does anyone care to guess who is going to push for a return to the fairness doctrine after market forces take the right's Fox News off the air?

Infidel57

quote:'Just because...
...a news organization reports something you don't like, it doesn't mean it is biased "

But if they do not report something readily available and persist in reporting only that which supports their agenda with no dissent allowed; that is biased.

Hannity & Limbaugh pretending to be Hannity & Combes would be biased. ( Although H&C make no pretense of being a news program)

Peppermint
If you want a good laugh at Edwards, go to YouTube and search using "I feel pretty". It will bring up a video of Edwards doing his hair and licking his lips before a TV appearance while we hear I feel pretty over the soundtrack. It is hilarious. It says all that needs to be said about him. I live in NC and I thought he was a total disaster as a Senator. I am an attorney, and I abhor attorneys who do personal injury and become millionaires. I prosecuted bad guys for a living. I'm not a millionaire. But then, I am not as pretty as Edwards.

ALAN1701
I agree with your view about Edwards and negotiating with our friends or enemies.

Edwards must have to go to a crying room when Limbaugh or Coulter are on the air.

To put it another way, I remember JFK and Mr. Edwards, you are no JFK

Speaking of which
check this slam on Hillary if you have not seen it already:

Alan1701
Good point. What is John Deadwards going to do if he would have to speak to Iran or Syria? Hide under his bed sucking his thumb? Wuss girlie man for sure.

Just because...

Iraq, "Axis of Evil", Shock and Awe, Mission Accomplished, Abramoff and Delay, Katrina, Wilson and Plame, WMDs, and on and on and on.

If you are not outraged, you are not paying attention. This is not a liberal vrs. conservative issue. It is a matter of gross incompetance which has threatened our nation. We are no longer the guys in the white hats to the rest of the world. We have lost our moral standing, and rightly so.

And blind allegiance to these screwups doesn't help this nation. Try some critical thinking insteading reacting like Pavlov's dogs to the right wing pundants.

To ALAN1701
You said "What a whiney, gutless little girly man - what a joke." Be careful, the libtards will put you in rehab.

Moonbat Exterminator
Ailes' "Obama/Osama" reference was actually making fun of George Bush; it was not to be interpreted as a slam to Obama. Jay Leno does jokes in exactly the same vein and no one criticizes him! This was merely another way of getting out of the Fox Democratic debates in order to satisfy those who couldn't stomach watching their candidates on THAT channel. Since it was Reid who had stated Fox would be a good venue, he needed something to get himself out of it!

Edwards Wants to be President??
John Edwards wants to be President of the United States, the person who will need to be prepared to negotiate and possibly face down this Nations enemies - and he doesn't have the guts to participate in a debate in which he may (I stress 'may')get some unfriendly questions from the sponsoring media outlet. What a whiney, gutless little girly man - what a joke.

What I think is sissified
about the dems pulling out of the Fox debates is that the repubs have never pulled out of a debate because the LSM was holding them. The liberal media does not always give fair questions to the repubs during the debates. So, what a bunch of wusses they are on the democrap side. Deadwords proves he is nothing more than the Breck girl as we call him.

Why the boycott?
Edwards et al snubbed the Fox News sponsored debate because Roger Ailes, president of the network in a speech made a joke lampooning the similarity between the names Barack Obama and Osamma bin Laden, parroting Ted Kennedy's "Osama Obama" comment. When the Swimmer, in a stunken drupor[sic] made the verbal subtitution, people snickered up their sleeves, but when an alleged Conservative makes a similar comment in obvious jest, the "Party of Tolerance" shows its true stripes.

And yet another example of why
Fox news is not conservative. They (Steve Doocy) just interviewed the Governor of Florida (R) who has jumped on the AGW bandwagon. As the interview began the Governeor just talked about hurricanes and his belief they were being caused by GW. To offset this he supported a national catestrophic weather fund to help support insurance. In other words, he is just looking for the rest of the country to subsidize insurance rates for people who live in Hurricane prone areas. he justified this based on the Federal Government already making huge payouts to hurricane damaged areas. When Mr. Doocy asked him what Albore should testify to, his only response was he needed to support his theories. When Doocy asked did he support CO2 caps in FL, his response was that he supported ethanol production.

A competnet reporter would have crucified him on these responses. Mr. Doocy not only did not refure the stupidity of these responses but he didn't even follow up.

So FL jumps on the AGW bandwagon looking for another scam of the taxpayer.

I agree with Nam! Liberals want their
Cake and eat it too. I agree that Fox News should schedule their own debates and invite true sincere conservatives like Brownback, and Tancredo. If the liberals do not show up, they look exactly like the SISSIES they are. If they do show up, the people will get a real debate, not a side-show staged by the LAME STREAM MEDIA!
The questions should be worded so that each candidate is not painted into a corner form the start. The Lamies do this!
The answers should be kept to the subject.
The liberal must not be allowed to drift into their typical "Bush Lied" speech.
Finally, at the end of the nationally televised debate, the commentators would not have to spin anything. If the Dems are lying(you can always tell since their lips are moving) we will know!

The Republicans always bring...
...a knife to a Democratic gun fight. They have no sense of the jugular.Bush is particularly guilty of this.I suppose they rely on us out in the rest of the country to defend them. But I stopped doing that.If they don't want to defend themselves, why should I defend them?

Fox news should have stated that the debate would go on,even if it was just a Republican who showed up.What!? All that publicity without having to pay for it out of his campaign funds?Believe me,there is no way the Dems wouldn't show up!

And if the Republicans said they would not participate in a debate on the alphabet networks if the Dems boycott the Nevada affair, all hell would break loose.(Yes,I know there hasn't been any debates since Lincoln-Douglas.We have joint press confrences with Liberal reporters asking the questions)

Don't let your opponent define the terms
What is the point of calling it a discussion when you let one side define all the terms?

And when I ask people to tell me of instances when Fox is biased, they inevitably quote OPINION PURVEYORS such as Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity -- not NEWS REPORTS. They also claim that Rush Limbaugh is a news reporter although Rush has never claimed to be in any business but entertainment.

The difficulty is that too many people don't have the slightest idea what the definition of "News Reporting" actually is. So if you can't define the terms, how can you construct a coherent argument? It's a lot like Bill Clinton saying that what Monica did in the Oval Office was "not sex" and therefore he was not guilty of adultery....

To RougeHistorian
I think Bush has been gutless in his response to the Democraps relentless attacks and stonewalling on appointments to the court.

On the media, ALL of them are liberal including Fox. If Fox were conservative the story on Foley would have lasted one day. The non-story on federal prosecutors would not have recieved play at all. In other words, the Democrap manufactored news would recieve no play at all.

As one of the other threads going now said, the Demos are imploding. Their constant attacks have gone so far over the top that even the sheeple are starting to get turned off.

Dear Magnificus:
I respectfully disagree with you. You do our President a great injustice by reducing his efforts on many fronts to one, immigration.

I think there may be a parallel between the issue of immigration and one to which it is intimately related, drugs. Limiting the quantity of drugs available without diminishing demand only drives prices up. Higher prices reward higher risks. Likewise with immigration. Fewer workers means higher wages means higher risks. Unless, of course, we seal the border completely. But that is not possible. Especially when we incarcerate border patrol agents in federal prison for doing their jobs!

Liberals are the enemy, not immigrants. Howz about an "Amnesty for a Liberal" program in which we send one liberal to Mexico for each migrant worker?

Peppermint
night

Magnificus
Good night. I should be turning in also.
Talk at ya later.

One more thing
It might look like weaseley(? is that a word?) bbut I would turn Justice Dept loose on Burglar, Reid (investigate), Jefferson (expedite that case), and any others that have even a tinge of odor....

Turn the headlines and public opinion around.
Not that the Libs will see it as the law being upheld, but the moderates might see it the party of corruption for what it really is...

EDT here too
getting late... Drs appointment in A.M.

Talk again tomorrow?

Rogue
The Justices alone were worth having Bush. That is one of the biggest accomplishments of his POTUS.
We only need one more conservative judge on the SOTUS to be able to stop the left.

RH
Problem is we might still be waiting to see his biggest failure... the one where he signs an amnesty bill and fails the country.

Oh, and I failed to mention...
Bush's greatest success came as he placed two highly, highly qualified jurists on the High Court. Alito and Roberts are Bush's legacy.

Now, to be fair, he almost put a totally unqualified person on the Court before he came to his senses. And parenthetically: I agree with you also on many points, Peppermint, I just don't think Bush's failures negate his gains.

Magnificus
Eastern time zone.

Peppermint
what time zone are you in?

Sell Out
GWB is and has been for months selling us out to the Dems... the Mexicans... and now his State Dept is caving to the N.Koreans... I can't call THAT a man of conviction.

He, like all other two term Presidents, has become obsessed with his legacy (IMO) and that is dangerous for us at thisiomportant time in the countries & the free worlds history.

Bush v Gore
Now thats a funny headline...
comparing the two is like apples and oranges though
might it be that Al Queda's top overseas planner KSM has been locked up all this time and, that as much as anything else is why we haven't been hit again (yet)

Magnificus
That's good to hear about Thompson because he has been looking like a good candidate to me also.
We need someone who is going to protect our borders for goodness sake.
I know how he stands on other issues but I didn't know where he was on the borders.

Rogue Historian
I appreciate your comments and pointing out that Bush did not dither after 9/11. I acknowledge and recognize that also. But, I wonder what is happening to him of late. He seems to cave so much to the dims.

Peppermint
No No
I meant GW wanting the Mexican to take back at least the southwest... thinks he needs to play w/ Libs to get their help

To tell the truth, looked through all of Thompson's votes I could find and everything I have found he has written or said )especially recently) and cannot find anything on Mexican/Canada super highway

Closest I can get is he is FOR border security & start at the border to attain it...
Doesn't believe in any blanket laws to cover Mexican Illegals or special laws for anybody for that matter.

He is concerned about retaining our national sovereignty... so thats a good sign

Is Bush Really Gutless?
I have to agree that Bush has been a dismal failure on many fronts. However, I take exception with the whitewash. Two issues come to mind that demonstrate Bush's courage and conviction. First, and most obviously, Bush didn't dither after 911. He took the war immediately to the heart of terrorism. We haven't suffered another attack. I give Bush a lot of credit for this. Imagine how many meetings Gore would have had in which he would have acquiesced to the likes of Arafat. Simply horrifying. The other issue in promotion of which Bush demonstrated a warrior's courage was social security reform. Bush spent tremendous political capital trying to do the right thing: introduce a modicum of competition into this bankrupt system. Bush's ultimate failure to overhaul socsec reflects far less on his leadership than upon the general apathy of his constituents.

History will, I hope, treat Bush more fairly than peppermint and magnificus. I agree that he has taken "compassion" too far. But he has also led us through one of the most trying times in our history.

Peppermint
No I was just flipping thru the headlines gonna read Limbaugh next

Magnificus
Did you see that a new David Limbaugh article just appeared on TH, called "Republicans Won't Stand when Dems Lie"? How appropriate to our conversation.

Magnificus
Do I understand you correctly that Thompson wants that Mexican/Canada super highway to go through?
Or did you mean something else?

Peppermint

Thats why I want Thompson to get into the Race... he is a no-nonesense guy, a refreshing change from what GW has become.

I think its because he wants the Dems to help he get the Mexican Takeover Bill passed...

He obviously not aware that he doesn't have to be nice to them to get their help on that... they'll do anything to hurt this country they can without too much persuasion being needed.

Magnificus
I know. I like to give them direct questions though. It's fun.
I never did get an answer from religious lib yesterday about why no one was convicted of outing PlameDame.
The last answer I got from religlib was oh, Fitz will have to testify before Congress and that will be interesting to see what he says. Ha!

I agree with you completely about Bush being so gutless. If he would only stand up for himself. What the he11 happened to him? I thought he was such a cowboy who didn't give a dang what others thought and here he turns out to be a shrinking violet.
The left is fond of calling him a bully, yet they bully him all the time and he caves. So frustrating!

Peppermint
You know he doesn't...you'll be lucky if he answers, and if he does its going to be something like

"Everyone knows it"

Peppermint
Like I said though. I blame Bush for being gutless... with the media, the Libs in DC, the Mexican & other Foreign governments... across the board this guy is a failure when it comes to showing backbone.

Peppermint
We must do something like that again...
This has gotten out of hand.

And you are correct about them trying to shut Fox down eventually... thats what the Equal Time thing is all about...

Liberalgman
"The right way to find out whether a news outlet is biased is by keeping track of the falsehoods they present. Fox is far ahead of the NYTimes on that."

Have you got any evidence to back up this claim of yours? If so please post it.

Magnificus
When CBS and Dan Blather did their number on Bush's Guard record there was a huge backlash by many, many people who wrote, emailed and telephoned their local radio stations.

In my town, the top of the hour report on the radio was done by CBS. After we got done calling the radio stations threatening boycotting them, they switched to Fox doing the top of the hour news report.

So it does work. It just takes a big effort and a lot of people joining together.

I believe I joined in this effort over at the Free Republic at the time. They had everything set up to make it easy for you to mail and email, call your local stations.

liberalgoodman
The NYT has been committing treason by leaking classified information since the 1960's at least.

Have you ever seen "The Hunt For Red October"?
You know the part where the American sub is trailing Red October and all of a sudden he does a "Crazy Ivan"?? It is a move where Soviet sub commanders would do a 180 and come straight back in case they were being followed, "kinda like a game of chicken" as Scott Glenns character said.

That is actual stuff. The US was able to get into the wake of Soviet subs and follow them all around the world without being detected... that is UNTIL the New York Times printed the information in the newspaper for the REDS to read.

And I'm sure you know of the more recent stuff they claim they printed "because the public has a right to know"... you know the NEW YORK TIMES TERRORIST READING PUBLIC... things like surveillance programs and techniques.

BTW
THAT is how everyone should know Plame was NOT covert.
IF she were her name and picture would have been in the Times LONG BEFORE Armitage uttered her name.

The media
has gotten worse. I've notice when I surf the channels, the stories and the opinions of the pundits on the typical liberal outlets are not even hidden any more. It's out right in the open for all to see.

Even some friends of mine who insisted on watching CNN (because they got used to it being the first cable news around the clock) have fled from CNN because their left leaning bias became so apparent to these people. And these are people who are moderates, somewhat left, somewhat right depending on the issues.

The only cable news who reports both sides of any story is Fox.

Of course the liberal news outlets have to attack Fox. Fox has become the top rated and the libs don't like that.

I'm sure the libs will come up with something to shut down Fox eventually if they get their socialist/commie agenda ensconced.

It's Time
TO FIGHT BACK!!!

I have seen many posts on TH as well as other conservative sites where bloggers & posters alike lament the bias of the MSM yet no one has come up with a way to give them a taste of their own medicine.

We have seen the Bush administration grab their ankles rather than stand their ground and for the life of me, I cannot figure out why. George Bush has turned out to be a disappointing doormat of a President when it comes to standing up to be counted.

Mrs Bills FBI files cannot possibly have all THAT MUCH information on every Republican that someone can't take on the Libs in a knock down drag out fight, or at least go down fighting!!

I know we're all newshounds but lets say for one week everyone decides to NOT BUY A NEWSPAPER! What if we write or e-mail local TV stations threatening a boycott of their LOCAL advertisers let alone their 6 o'clock news program.

People, WE ARE THE POWER...NOT THEM! If we recruited friends to do the same the economic hit on the media outlets could cause them to rethink their blatant bias and give equal time to both sides.

This morning on the LOCAL news here (Boston) an anchorwoman was doiing a story about a local kid who was killed in Iraq.

But she went for relaying the story to editorializing about it in the blink of an eye...LITERALLY....

"PFC John Q age 20...AGE 20!" (his age was repeated after a dramatic pause while she rolled her eyes and put extra emphasis on his age the second time for anyone who didn't 'GET IT' the first time) "was killed by an IED...."

She had to let us all know her 'feelings' about the war...not really the young mans tragic death or she would have deplored the fact that his life was ended at the hands of an islamofacist bomb-maker.

It was also obvious that she hadn't calculated the fact that the war has been going on in Iraq for 4 years, since the young soldier was 16, and because it is an all volunteer Army he must have wanted to do what he thought was right.

It never occured to her how much she dishonered this mans sacrifice with her theatrics when she is paid to relate the event, not try to be part of it.

Yes folks, I think I have reached the point where I want to fight back against these people. Just who the he11 do they think they are anyway?

Read the study and ask again
Quoting from the study: "Our results show a strong liberal bias. All of the news outlets except Fox News' Special Report and the Washington Times received a score to eh left of teh average member of Congress." -- written in 2005.

Do you think the media suddenly because less biased since the 2006 election? Certainly their place relative to Congress has shifted.

The right way to find out whether a news outlet is biased is by keeping track of the falsehoods they present. Fox is far ahead of the NYTimes on that.

Wishful thinking
Lots of things could prove the undoing of the Leftist media - none actually will, however. Are they going to investigate themselves? Not likely. Sure, they'll give some minor coverage to faked stories, faked photographs, and whatever else there happens to be, but they rule the roost, so nothing will ever change.

Now, if a couple of reporters were imprisoned for printing falsities, if a couple of major news organizations that printing falsehoods were bankrupted by major lawsuits, and a few reporters and editors were executed for treason for revealing national security matters, that might cause some changes. But that will never happen, so nothing will ever change.
