Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Rep. Charles Rangel's recent comments about President Barack Obama's budget exemplify the liberal ruling class's Beltway arrogance and blind faith in an ideology that compels it to press on the accelerator as we head for the cliff toward the nation's financial ruin.

How else do you explain the administration's and Congress' seeming indifference to the inevitably bankrupting consequences of their profligacy; their disguising a $1 trillion political patronage bill as an economic stimulus package when only 23 percent of it is arguably stimulative in the short term; and their audacity in forcing (and rewarding) banks to make uncreditworthy loans, pressuring Freddie and Fannie to "securitize" them, encouraging AIG and others to traffic in "derivatives," and then punishing all of them instead of taking the blame themselves? They are the ones who created this havoc and then refused to take corrective regulatory action when warned of the impending financial disaster.

Chris Wallace, the host of "Fox News Sunday," asked Rangel whether he was troubled by Congressional Budget Office estimates that Obama's deficits will be $2.3 trillion higher than the already-astronomical White House projections.

"I am more impressed," said Rangel, "with the fact that Obama is looking for a better-educated and a healthy -- a stronger work force, going into a new green economy, that this has to show that America can get off the ground with the deficit and move to where we were under the Clinton administration -- drawing a strong surplus. The only way for us to get out of this is to change our way of living in this country, and that's the direction in which the Obama budget is going, and I strongly support it."

When Rangel says we need to "change our way of living in this country," he does not mean that the solution to our unsustainable budgets is to tighten our federal belt and curtail government intervention in the market.

What he's really saying is, "We liberals are going to do what we've been itching to do for decades, and even though our policies will place greater burdens on the economy, retard economic growth, and cause the debt and deficits to further explode, we'll end up with a surplus anyway because we are so doggone virtuous with our liberal compassion that fate will have to reward us."

Does anyone really believe that greater federal control over education replete with liberals' priority for indoctrination over academics, the environment -- with its onerous cap and trade requirements -- and health care will stimulate the economy and reduce our deficits?

Of course not, but their agenda is not about economic growth, which is bound to occur as a matter of course despite their irresponsibility. These liberal tinkerers believe they finally have a chance -- because of the crisis mentality, which they see as an "opportunity" they can't waste -- to implement their comprehensive agenda -- and not just on education, the environment and health care. Now is their time to strengthen labor unions, punish producers and redistribute wealth. Now is the time to convert the war on terror into a law enforcement matter and coddle foreign dictators even as they laugh in our face. Now is the time to use the power of the presidency to promote the abominable practice of abortion.

The way they see it, they now have a chance to actualize their vision for an America that is remade in their image and that is radically at odds with the vision of this nation's Founders. It doesn't matter that there couldn't be a worse time in our history for implementing their reckless policies. They know they may not get another chance in their lifetimes to work such mischief. Even though it will break the federal bank, us, our children and our grandchildren, it's all going to be OK because they will finally have achieved their statist vision for America.

Their ideology tells them that any means justify the ends of achieving their liberal Utopia -- even means (such as literally bankrupting federal budgets) that logically guarantee it can never be achieved. That's what I mean by their blind faith in an ideology.

For greater insight into the liberal mind, to help you understand why liberals are blissfully driving like Mr. Magoo toward the precipice of our national financial destruction, I refer you again to Mark Levin's "Liberty and Tyranny," in which he dissects the statist's unshakable drive to expand government and control our lives.

The statist never learns from his policy failures. He is never deterred by the destruction he causes. Negative data are simply rejected, as with his steadfast allegiance to failed Keynesian economics.

"The fact is that the New Deal was, overall, a dismal failure," writes Levin. "Yet today it serves as the Statist's prototype for governance. … (The statist) is unmoved by reason, evidence and history."

Blind faith, indeed.

IRAQ IGNORED INSIDE THE BELTWAY

WP: 82% of GDP in 10 Years!!!

Before reading, keep in mind that the EU average for its countries' with anemic growth is 47% of GDP...

“In the midst of this bonfire of inanities, President Obama is pressing ahead with a $3.6 trillion budget, predicated on utterly unrealistic economic growth, even as the Congressional Budget Office is now projecting that this year’s deficit will soar past $1.8 trillion, 13 percent of the US economy. This would amount, as the Washington Post reports, to ‘the deepest well of red ink since the end of World War II.’ According to the Post, the CBO is warning, ominously, that the result of this kind of borrowing and spending could lead to an exponentially expanding national debt that would ‘exceed 82 percent of the overall economy by 2019.’”

President Obama came to office proclaiming that he aims to solve problems, not hand them on to our children. Most presidents say that sort of thing. But now we are in very dire straits, and that being the case, he will be held to account. It’s your legacy, sir, and let’s not hear any more about ‘inheriting the crisis.’ You asked for the job. Meanwhile, let us hope that his talent for mastering a sérieux financial crisis are not on a level with the Special Olympians of Wall Street, and Congress.”

Frigthening Facts About Our Finances

1) What is the GDP of the US in a good year?

~$14,000bn

2) What is the current national debt?

~$12,000bn

3) What will be the budget deficit next year?

~$1,300bn

4) How much will Obama's deficit add to the national debt in the next 10 years?

~$9,300bn

5) What is the estimated amount of unfunded mandates (social security, medicare, and medicaid) on the "books" of the United States?

Between $56,000bn and $75,000bn

6) At what income figure would the US government have to seize all income in order to pay down the CURRENT deficit and debt?

~$75,000

7) What was the effect of the debt saddled on each and every American from the Stimulus bill?

~$38,000 in debt was charged to each and every American.

8) What is the multiple of cash injected by the Federal Reserve in the last 6 months?

~279%

9) Are we currently in a deflationary or inflationary cycle?

Deflationary

10) What are two examples of depressions with hyperinflation?

The Weimar Republic in Germany during the 1920s through Hitler's rise to Furher in 1933.

Current day Zimbabwe where Mugabe seized all of the assets of the plantation owners to spread the wealth. Devalued Zimbabwe's once stron currency and destroyed the former thriving economy.

11) What is the minimum expected rate of inflation once recovery begins?

At the very minimum, inflation will be 5-8% when recovery begins, which will act as a disincentive for employers to expand and hire more workers. It will make feeding one's family, buying a car, paying tuition, and surviving cost-prohibitive in an evironment where the overall cost-of-living is dramatically higher than it has been.

"Frightening"

Me bad.

The basic plan is OK.. and I am a Rep.
The foolishness was the pork allowed in the last bill and the lack of controls on the other stimulus money which we are looking stupid for now.

However that said, the plan to take the bad assets and remarket tham hand in hand with the private sector is an excellent plan. I am a retired mortgage banker and banker and I know a bit about the problems. These homes cannot be replaced at their curremt market value. The cost of materials and labor is still to high to replace them. Thus these are now very secure loans and everyone is forgetting that. If I could I would buy everone and rent them out for two years and, well you know.

Obama's Approval Rating Falls To 50%

The honeymoon is over, a national poll will signal tomorrow as President Obama’s job approval stumbles to about 50 percent over the lack of improvement with the crippled economy.

The sobering numbers come as the president backpedals from two prime-time gaffes - one comparing his bowling score to a Special Olympian and another awkwardly laughing about the economy, which prompted Steve Kroft of “60 Minutes” to ask “are you punch-drunk?”

Pollster John Zogby said his poll out in the morning will show Americans split on the president’s performance. He said the score factors out to “about 50-50.”

Falling, Falling, Falling.

The banks default
and next the government - it's printing time. Overdrawn, unable to confiscate to cover, they push bills further to the future, our government now issuing a gigantic pile of bad loans that only inflating can cover.
I recall reading a single msm note on the 200% per year inflation that the marxist dictator of Venezuela "brought the poor and downtrodden" with his massive spending. That's the part the libtards leave out.
After listening to near eight #@$%$^& years of the whining psycho libtards screaming Bush' war destroyed the USA budget, and then seeing the 100% lib controlled house and senate and presidency whip up the biggest most secretive gigantic wall street bailout ever seen in the entire history of the world...
In any case, they are GIGANTIC LIARS and CONS.
Now, they are also CORPORATE OLIGARCHY THIEVES.
I hope the republicans all are on some meeting in Texas when Al Qaeda strikes at the heart of the libtard power in DC. Gosh that would be wonderful. Somehow though I suspect Osama knows what I do and is doing the happy dance in his Paki cave, parking all plans for attack on DC, and watching the libtards he campaigned for destroy it all on their own. You have a good plan Osama. It's working.
What a shameful load of feckless crimitards the lib hippy psycho dope brained drug addict 68'ers have shown to be in their total government takeover.
The horror is truly here, and they are further implementing, and the destruction will "never be their fault" - as you already see, they have utterly disowned their home for every ethnic, foreigner or domestic, economic obliterration fallout.
It is amazing, a tragic comedy of immense proportion. The ultimate fools and gilligans, to their last dying breath.

you are a good poster most of the time.
Real Clear politics (the site that got the election right )has BHO's approval at 61.2%.
A slight uptick no doubt brought on by the stock surge. He's climbing again.

Rangel needs some asian dicipline
Remember that story about a decade ago that was about a kid who got in trouble overseas and was caned? That was their form of punishment for "tagging" We should bring that to the U.S. and start using it with government communists and tax cheats.

drop by my blog
I have a RARE photo of BO without his teleprompter

And?
Rangel plays the party line.
Otherwise no Rangel Library and he might have to pay office rent to boot.

Term Limits
If you like to read I would urge you to try Vince Flynn's "Term Limits". Its about a group of ex Special Forces soliders who murder a 5-6 select politicians who are attempting to pass a rediculous pork laden budget.

Its good to have dreams eh??? I don't think Hollywood is going to make a movie out of it....it would be toooo easy.

A couple of points. First, I recall not too long ago the conservatives claimed that they would load so much debt on the federal government that it would be unable to function. They did that and guess what? You never expected this did you?

This is a lie. No question they didn't do their job BUT this crisis lands solidly at the feet of a failed conservative philosophy. Their is and was far more than a mortgage crisis here. The free market was literally crashed

"...The way they see it, they now have a chance to actualize their vision for an America that is remade in their image and that is radically at odds with the vision of this nation's Founders...."

Again wrong. The founders were all for cooperation, community investment and the maximum amount of freedom that is the liberal philosophy. Hey, you don't have to push levin's inaccurate book you know as with most of the trash published by the right wing will be bought up by the right wing true believers and foundations.

What Does National Bankruptcy Look Like?
Click on the link below and take a look at the photograph. This was Zimbabwe in September 2007. The man in the picture needed to pay his restaurant tab, and he made a point of paying in cash … all Z$7.6 million of it. You know what that would buy today? The drink.

I wonder how much it costs for the Happy Meal?

I am a lawyer, not a pollster. I am only posting the article from the Boston Herald. As for RCP, their numbers are an average of national polls. Rasumussen was the most accurate pollster in the last decade. I would be interested in seeing their new numbers, but Zogby is nothing to dismiss. There is a definite uptick in disapproval amongst Independents.

Thank you for the compliment. Have a nice day.

Time for congressional term limits
Although I disagree with Rangel's politics 99% of the time, I always liked the guy on a personal level. A witty, cheerful guy that didn't appear to be mean-spirited.

But, as with so many of these congressman-for-life octegenarians, hubris eventually sets in. Ted Stevens, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, Rangel, the list goes on...and on.

I'm convinced that congressional term limits are essential as the longer these guys stay in office, the more likely they are to become corrupted. It's not that they're bad people...it's that power corrupts, and the longer you hold power the more likely it is to happen.

Time for Rangel & Co. to go home and write their memoirs.

Term limits are for the weak and the timid who do not like living in a republic. Guess what? You have term limits right now - election day. If they were not serving their constituents they would be voted out by dedicated opposition

Destructive intentions, not blind faith:
The President and his ilk do not want to “renew the promise of America”, instead they want to use vague platitudinous phrases and the opportunity of economic crisis to attain the socialist objective of a country completely dominated by central federal government control. The Federal Power creep of the past 30 years is now on a hyper-accelerated pace. Like all pseudo intellects in Washington and Liberal Academia who have never held a private sector job, never met a payroll, never launched a product, never managed a business through an economic downturn, never worked the factory or warehouse floor, never planted or harvested a crop, or never experienced the sting of battle in defense of individual liberty, they suffer from the ignorance born out of arrogant, self deluded, pseudo elitism, unable to comprehend what makes this country work, what unalienable rights mean, how the Constitution was laboriously constructed to secure those rights, and what the majority of its legal citizens care about. They do however have a firm grasp of an ideology that seeks to fundamentally change, not renew, the promise of America, by seeking nothing more than the wholesale transfer of remaining power away from the people and away from the states to the federal government through increased taxation, huge federal borrowings, and a dramatic expansion of federal regulations.
James Madison said it pretty succinctly, "A just security to property is not afforded by that government, under which unequal taxes oppress one species of property and reward another species." You be the judge. Does the President “want to renew the promise of America”, or are his programs and intentions antithetical to the Constitution, the principals of unalienable rights, and the premise of government deriving its just powers from the consent of the governed?

This never would have happened
If the Republicans would have held up our side the side of common sense and logic and Truth. True Truth not truth for the moment.

President Blithering Halfwit Orangutan is knitting the Death Shroud of Liberalism and Piglosi, Reed, Kerry, Kennedy, Fwank, Schemer, Hoyer, Murtha and Rangel are holding the yarn to keep it from getting tangled.

Bawny is charwing a hearwing on CSPAN as we speak. It about the bailwouts. He is just his own sweet self as he is castigating others when he should be slapping himself.

He has called Judge Antonin Scaliaa homophobe. Of course,Judge Scalia has too much class to answer that little homosexual.

You have to admit Bawny is a class act. He will probably fall on his sword today and admit his part in the beginning of the end of America.

Charlie Rangel the guy who is in charge of writing tax laws to add to our alreadly 60,000 plus page tax code going to have his vacatin homes in the Domincan Republic confiscated for
his tax cheating? That's what happens to the "little people." I doubt there is an honest DemonRAT in elective office, if there is one that's a crowd. These people have criminal minds and an arrogance..if one is a marxist, progressive the laws for the rest of us dont' apply. And the longer they stay in, the higher up the seniority ladder the more power they
get, the more tyrannical. When one has their
philosophy and not the courage to openly
run on those issues, that one knows it won't fly in this Republic so they hide behind
excuses, demagoguery, and grandstanding. They
are thieves of the worst sort, they steal our
Constitution and rewrite it at will and there are few if any that will call them on it. The same perverted, arrogant communists are running our media so this current government is given a pass by willing conspirators. They are beneath contempt and I wish just once someone called before them would d... the torpedos and full speed ahead and let them know exactly what thugs they are. The last one to do that was Ollie North.

How has capitalism failed? Who is to blame if it did?

Are there inherent dangers in capitalism? Of course, because greed exists in the human experience; however, it also exists in every economic theory.

Has there been sufficient regulation? On the whole, there has beedenin more than adequate regulation. Since the Securities Act of 1933 and the 1934 Securities Exchange Act, our market framework has been governmental regulated with more and more rules and regulations being added each year. Trust me, I spend thousands of dollars every year on updates on rules and regulations promulgated by the SEC.

Has the SEC always been the most astute watchdog on our behalf? No and neither has the FDIC. Our current problems in banking and the stock market are not the fault of capitalism, but, rather, the failure of the US govt. We have had numerous regulations and plans to encourage home ownership for all Americans. These allowed for many toxic assets to be put on the books of some of our largest companies. According to a New York Times article last Autumn, significant evidence supports the premise that Alan Greenspan and Lary Summers were the most vocal opponents against regulating derivatives. Combine the aforementioned issues with lax SEC oversight and we can understand how we got to this point.

Hal - II
The most pressing problem, however, is not the failure of the government, but, rather, the overwhelming GROWTH IN GOVERNMENT. Simply put, the government has become so large that it has become unmanageable. The government has a hard enough time overseeing the DMV, but many advocate that it take a larger role in the freem market. IMHO, this is sheer lunacy. Yes, the government must set the rules of the game and insure that it fully upholds its authority to enforce regulations; however, the market and Capitalism will fail if the government intervenes in every aspect of free enterprise.

Lastly, Capitalism will never solve our problems, if the government continues to spend more and more relative to GDP. Look at the number that the Washington Post is projecting will be the ratio of governmental spending to GDP in 10 years. This is unsustainable.

Vote for a Republican on March 28, 2009
On March 28, 2009 there is an election in the Albany, New York US Congressional district to fill the seat of the woman Senator who replace Hilary Clinton. I strongly suggest that anyone in that district or anyone who has friends or relatives in that district MAKE SURE YOU VOTE FOR THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE on March 28th, 2009. If we don't start waking up these US Congressman and woman that they can not expect to keep their jobs in November 2010 if they sell out the people, then all is lost. This is a rare chance to wake them up. VOTE EARLY AND OFTEN. Pass this message on.

I thought you had a full-time job working as a high-powered, multi-lingual lawyer for some basillion-capped company in NO, who makes donations to Norm Coleman.

How is it that you have time to post all day every day on Town Hall - Are you aware that "full time posting" is not that same thing as "full time lawyering"?

On second thought
Maybe you could donate some of your amazing amounts of free time to help your governor, Bobby Jindal in his dream of abolishing funds for volcano monitoring.

Well, maybe not - powerful Republicans are already busy trying to keep the Jindals, cheneys, Steeles, Bachmanns, etc. out of the picture for the good of the party. TH comments (like Obama's ratings dropping to 50%) are actually good for the Democrats - I see our job as spreading TH posts around the internet as much a possible and letting them speak for themselves.

Well, going back to finish my O'Reilly porn novel now. See you all later.

$1,000,000 MARCH NEEDED
The American people must not only hold tea bag parties across the nation to send a message, but those same groups need to form a $1,000,000 march on Washington D.C. and demand that the stolen taxes by those who filled their bank accounts without being held accountable and all those printing excessive trillions of our taxes that they're enjoying while we're suffering need to return and repay their crimes back to the people in the sum of $1,000,000 per household (which excludes the penalties and fines) which would stimulate the economy faster than any of the legal games they are playing with because none of this affects them because they stole our tax dollars, social security, 401ks, homes, and banks. They OWE the AMerican people reimbursement and restoration for their crimes against the taxpayers. Stop Obama's team from pouring trillions into a black hole and demand a $1,000,000 March with a Petition that demands that those arrogant persons int he White House hear the GRIEVANCES of the American people and pay them back what is owed to them, immediately! That would cost less than $300,000,000 which is a drop in the bucket to what they're passing around in their bank accounts and printing up!

I noticed how quickly
Prelutsky's column was taken off TH yesterday after he called Michelle a bittch. (I guess the censors didn't catch that one).

Unfortunately for conservatives, it was all over the internet, along with TH profiles, before he was removed.

Fred

Yes, darling, I am working. Would you like me to send you the forebearance document that I am working on right now? I will be more than happy to do so.

Debt Service Through 2019

Conservative projects on our national debt indicate increases in borrowing will cause the interest payments (based on current rates) to inflate from $253bn in FY 2008 to $622bn in FY 2019, which is an increase of $369bn or 145.8%.

As interest rates increase, which they will as foreign lenders demand higher rates for the money extended, the interest payment in 2019 will be in the neighborhood of $750bn, which would represent 2/3 of the national budget.

Fred

Funny. Burt's column was up yesterday afternoon and last night.

Also, thanks so much for concerning yourself with my job and income. By the way, I appreciate it every time that you fill up your gas tank, use natural gas, petroleum products and alternative entergy sources. You see, I get paid when I am sleeping at night. So, don't worry your pretty, little head about me. I'm fine. Are you?

Saul Alinsky
Socialism by Obama via Saul Alinsky.

We just keep seeing the tactics played out by Obama backed by an inept corrupt Congress, spineless Republicans and all supported by an arrogant elitist far left media.

What a combination that must be challenged daily!

Listen up folks
We have been scammed by the elites who run the DEM/GOP/MSM propaganda machines into believing that only the elites have the necessary wisdom, knowledge, and experience to govern. We have been duped into voting the lesser of two evils, then left hoping for a different result after doing the same thing again.

"We the people" are the rightful owners of this nation. If we want Constitutional self government, we must change how we think and how we act. We must re-assert our authority and take responsibility for self governance. There is no future for freedom with either elite run party.

How to reclaim the inheritance that the elites have stolen from us is simple. Since a crisis should never go to waste, here's a plan. Get together with family and friends, find someone with common sense and love of country who might be unemployed. Then, form a campaign committee, register as a candidate, and run for congress.

Why not? There is no other way to get these corrupt, do nothing, let's get re-elected, power hungry partisans out of office. They have engineered the sysytem to keep themselves in power. The only way to beat them is to have citizen legislators, local people like yourselves, run for office.

If you have a better idea, let;'s hear about it. I guarantee that the elites will never vote themselves out via term limits, so it is up to us. Anyone out there have the faith and guts to do it? Anyone? Thanks, Joe

Hal "LMAO©" Donahue

You had almost zero credibility before the election of MC Obama - but your unswerving loyalty to a financial policy guaranteed to create worse conditions than the overspending Bush years lost what shred of credibility you had remaining.

Also - I may have missed it, but I haven't seen you comment on Obama's plan for private healthcare to pay for the war wounded.

If this had been Bush's policy, you would have been screaming at the top of your lings from atop the Empire State Building.

Hypocrite.

Who won WWII? What type of economy did we have then? You reagan/hooverites destroyed the economy yet again

We are well aware of the events
It's not hard to tell where Rangel, the Democrats and President Obama wants to take this country. It's not going unnoticed. We know how the crisis is being used to pass the Democrats agenda under the disguise of a rescue of businesses. President Obama wasn't happy with being a major shareholder in some businesses, so his Treasury secretary to going to see if he can get total control of businesses before they get into a situation where they will need a bailout. Reshaping America is the goal of President Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. The recession was thrown in to fool everyone they care about the people more then they care about their liberal agenda. You see, we are able to understand. We are able to make sense of what is going on. We can connect the dots and come to our own conclusion. In trying so hard to explain to the poor simple folks, information is sometimes presented in an arrogant and insulting way to the listeners or readers. Get the point.

Doofass:
You still are a worthless, no count, no class, pathetic piece of sh1t.

Losing our country to radical socialists
I am so angry watching the liberals taking over our country with not a wisper from the drive by media. What the hell has happened to the American people? Have we forgotten what makes this country great? I still think there is a spark of the American ideal out there we just need a way to identify it and nuture it.

If you are mad as hell like I am hold a tea party, protest go to http://www.nobailoutsforgrasshoppers.com or the blog nobailoutsforgrasshoppers.blogtownhall.com. Let's band together and make our politicians know we do not agree with the direction they are taking our country.

One Ant mad as hell

Great link. Thanks

Wonderful article Mr. Limbaugh
Free Enterprise? Great ecomony? Job growth? Heck no! Statists only worry about the STATE. One BIG arse STATE that takes everything from those who EARN it............ and spends it on Statist "improvements". Education, health care, CO2.... you see the State can take care of us all. Just ask Charlie Rangel. The State's been taking pretty good care of his arse for decades!

If you want a free country just don't ask Rangel, or Pelosi, or B. Frank, or Chris Dodd, or Obama.

ACORN and AIG
It was just reported that the charter buses that provided tours to the AIG Executives's homes were provided by ACORN and the passengers were selected from ACORN's radical groups. It was called a tour of the Famous and Infamous.

The big question is: "Who provided the names and addresses of the AIG Executives to ACORN?"
In a congressional session when AIG CEO Liddy was being questioned about the AIG bonsuses, Barney Frank ask Mr. Liddy to provide the names of the AIG Executives who received these bonuses.
Mr. Liddy told Barney Frank that he would not unless the names were held in confidence because he was concerned about the Executives and their families' security. Barney Frank then said congress could subpoena the names.

So who provided the names of the AIG Executives to ACORN? This requires an investigation! Was this a set-up by the Obama administration from the begining? OBAMA and ACORN has a long history together.

Hal - I
How has capitalism failed? Who is to blame if it did?

Are there inherent dangers in capitalism? Of course, because greed exists in the human experience; however, it also exists in every economic theory.

Has there been sufficient regulation? On the whole, there has beedenin more than adequate regulation...."

See I disagree. I mean just look at the consolidation in the energy sector over the last many years

"...Since the Securities Act of 1933 and the 1934 Securities Exchange Act,...I spend thousands of dollars every year on updates on rules and regulations promulgated by the SEC..."

I am and was a commodity trader

"...Our current problems in banking and the stock market are not the fault of capitalism, but, rather, the failure of the US govt..."

They I put to you are both responsible

"...Combine the aforementioned issues with lax SEC oversight and we can understand how we got to this point."

Come on LOL It is a fact that the last 40+ years have hurt, and hurt badly, the American economy. Who is responsible? Look in the mirror all of us are

Bruce (#45) and Denise (several)
Good job, both of you, in dealing with Hal and Fred. They have emotion, we have facts and at least try to acknowledge our faults when they occur.

Denise, it sounds like you've followed R. Kiyosaki's advice (and J. Paul Getty's on commodities)on portfolio income. Care to share any info?

Orly Taitz

The U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Justice Department today confirmed that documentation challenging Barack Obama's eligibility to be president has arrived and soon will be evaluated.

Confirmation came from DefendOurFreedoms.us, the foundation through which California attorney Orly Taitz has been working on a number of cases that raise questions over Obama's birth location, and therefore his qualifications to be president under the Constitution's demand that the office be occupied only by a "natural born" citizen.

According to the blog, Taitz was informed by Karen Thornton of the Department of Justice that all of the case documents and filings have arrived and have been forwarded to the Office of Solicitor General Elena Kagan, including three dossiers and the Quo Warranto case.

"Coincidently, after Dr. Taitz called me with that update, she received another call from Officer Giaccino at the Supreme Court," the posting said. "Officer Giaccino stated both pleadings have been received and being analyzed now."

The report from the Supreme Court also said the documents that Taitz hand-delivered to Chief Justice John Roberts at his appearance at the University of Idaho a little over a week ago also were at the Supreme Court.

David, I disagree
with your interpretation of “change our way of living.”

I think what Rangel means is that we all should live in smaller houses, drive smaller cars or take the bus or ride bicycles. He also is saying that we should eat broccoli instead of beef, jog to relieve stress instead of taking a hot bath and have our homes at 80 degrees in summer and 65 degrees in winter.

These fascist political busy bodies want all of us to suffer except themselves. It’s okay for them to jet all over the world at taxpayer expense, but anybody else does it and they can expect to be taxed to the poor house.

Our liberal wardens have already made it clear that they intend to use the tax code to punish anyone who disagrees with their politics. But don’t expect any of them to change their ways. No sir! They are, after all, the kings and queens of this century and they expect us all to bow down and kiss their a55e5.

I don’t expect these pigs of government to ever be happy until we all are living in cardboard boxes and eating out of garbage cans.

Denise to me
"Yes, darling, I am working. Would you like me to send you the forebearance document that I am working on right now? I will be more than happy to do so. "

1. Sorry to disappoint you, Denise, but I'm not actually a female and I'm definitely not gay. Perhaps you can get something going with Anne from Pa, I think you two have alot in common.

2. sure. You send me the forebearance document you are working on and I will send you my newly approved design for the Vatican remodel and the Ground Zero Monument.

Podner, I don't think Pancho et al believed those of us who proclaimed "U AINT SEEN NUTTIN YET" when we announced initial *DISPLEASURE* with Msr Obama, did he??
U know I was initially inclined to "give him a break"! Well, I was DEAD WRONG and all that bunch of SCALAWAGS will get from me is GRIEF!! PRESS ON WITH THE BRIMSTONE!!!

Great Column
Great job on the column.
" ... and their audacity in forcing (and rewarding) banks to make uncreditworthy loans, pressuring Freddie and Fannie to "securitize" them, encouraging AIG and others to traffic in "derivatives," and then punishing all of them instead of taking the blame themselves? They are the ones who created this havoc and then refused to take corrective regulatory action when warned of the impending financial disaster. "
Yes, and the left will feed off the greed that is becoming obvious and blame it, because when you force what should be criminally prosecutable and push it and the resulting massive leverage and bloated worldwide credit that created even more loans and bloating and false paper profits and derivative (playing in TRILLIONS of NOTIONAL leveraged value) and swap "insurance" that was backed by nothing with AAA+ ratings.... you get HEADY players who dabble in hundreds of millions, billions, and even notional trillions -- gigantic salaries, bonuses, perks, high priced hookers, unbelievable lifestyles, market hype and volatility, worldwide inflation ...
Yes, it amounted to completely violating the old standard 1 in 10 dollars held back fractional banking, and instead extended it to whom knows what "fractional banking" reserve...1 in 20, 1 in 100, 1 in 200 ?
One giant pumping bubble with huge paper profits, and plenty of actual takers sucking up the M3 expansion - spread right down the citizenry reaping in 401k and higher priced homes - etc.
So with the gigantic leverage in every large institution worldwide - it's not going to unwind very nicely.
Since excessively easy credit was the game for so long, the market is going to have to readjust how things are done, with REALISTIC values - or alternately the bubble must be repumped up to a level that allows it to move and yet retain false credibility.

I think Forbes has the key
I watched more hearings, and the former CEO of AIG - the brit guy - kept making his point concerning the arcane "mark to market" rule that caused AIG to run into it's liquidity crisis concerning the CDO swaps.
The rule came out of congress in the late 90's and was fine until home foreclosures weakened the CDO swap "insurance" and issued a call for CASH to be available to "back up" the CDO swap "insurance" that "guaranteed" the large institutions holding the bad mortgage packages.
AIG couldn't whip up the cash reserve for their "inurance markers in the form of CDO swaps". When they tried to rally a pile of cash, it drained the credit in the system, and panicked it, since investment firms knew the CDO's swaps were NOT BACKED by liquidity(cash) all over the entire world.
The mark to market rule ( write down losses NOW(and raise the CASH to cover immediately) that might have to be paid over the course of the contract years) ) forced the CDO swappers to mark their "CDO swap insurance" as VULNERABLE since the market for home sales contracted due to rising defaults, so years worth of possible payouts in home defaults HIT all at once since the CDO swaps were NOT BACKED BY ANY CASH/CAPITAL RESERVES.
So, mark to market caused SEVERE liquidity/cash pressures when foreclosures started hitting - the insurance against the failing loans called CDO swaps in AIG-FP has NO liquid cash backup - and the RATING on them went lower and caused CASH/credit problems system wide.
Suspending the mark to market, and CHANGING the Credit Default Swaps area so that "insurance"(hedge) against loan failures will be a problem that definitely needs to be addressed.
