Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Recently, I reread the chapters on the New Deal in Larry Schweikart's superb "A Patriot's History of the United States" to review parallels with Barack Obama's radical economic agenda. Here is an eye-opening, side-by-side sampling, with Schweikart's observations on FDR and the New Deal, along with mine on President Obama and his policies.

Schweikart wrote, "During the campaign, FDR, a man whose presidency would feature by far the largest expansion of the federal government ever, called for a balanced budget and accused Hoover of heading the 'greatest spending Administration in all our history.'"

Obama's stimulus bill sets frightening new records for federal spending. But while campaigning, he said, "I'm running for president because I believe we can choose our own economic destiny to go another four years with the same reckless fiscal policies that have busted our budget, wreaked havoc in our economy, and mortgaged our children's future on a mountain of debt; or we can restore fiscal responsibility in Washington."

Schweikart wrote, "Roosevelt heaped dishonor on the defeated Hoover, denying him even a Secret Service guard out of town."

At Obama's inauguration, his supporters booed, heckled and chanted tauntingly at President George W. Bush. Obama went to dinner during President Bush's farewell speech and repudiated the Bush era in his inaugural address and on his new White House Web site.

Schweikart wrote, "Roosevelt hoped to capitalize on the terrifying collapse of the economy to bulldoze through a set of policies that fundamentally rearranged the business and welfare foundations of American life." He continued, "Above all emergency measures needed to be done quickly before opposition could mount to many of these breathtaking challenges to the Constitution."

When Obama peddled panic to rush his bill through Congress, he heeded this advice from Rahm Emanuel: "Never allow a crisis to go to waste. They are opportunities to do big things." The Heritage Foundation's Robert Rector said Obama's stimulus bill "will overturn the fiscal foundation of welfare reform. For the first time since 1996, the federal government would begin paying states bonuses to increase their welfare caseloads." Obama regards this legislation as just the first step ("a down payment") in his mission to restructure the American economy.

Schweikart chronicled the liberal historians' view that FDR "saved capitalism from itself by entrenching a number of regulatory measures and social programs that kept the market economy from its own 'excesses.'" Rexford Tugwell, FDR's assistant secretary of agriculture, exposed the "myths" of laissez-faire, saying: "The jig is up. There is no invisible hand. There never was. Virtually all of the New Dealers shared, to one degree or another, a distrust of business and entrepreneurship that they thought had landed the nation in its current distressed condition. The administration's aims were crudely simple: 'One objective (of New Deal power policy) was to enlarge the publicly owned sector of the power industry as a means of diminishing private control over the necessities of life.'"

Today Obama trashes capitalism while pretending not to and without naming it specifically, but only as "an economic philosophy that has failed." Likewise, Obama's Democrats intend to curb capitalism's "excesses" and punish Wall Street "greed" through such measures as imposing caps on executive bonuses. It's also undeniable that they are wildly expanding the public sector at the expense of the private sector.

According to Schweikart, most of FDR's "Brain Trust" subscribed to the Keynesian premise that government spending would spur demand and thus pull a nation out of a depression. Few were troubled by the fact that this hadn't worked in Britain. A number of these "Keynes acolytes" sought "to ensure that federal spending was transformed 'from a temporary expedient to a permanent institution of government.'"

It's hardly a secret that Obama is a Keynesian and that he is staggeringly untroubled by the consistent failures of Keynesian policy before and since the New Deal. Moreover, Robert Rector notes that Obama has more ambitious plans than merely stimulating the economy. "The real goal is to get 'the camel's nose under the tent' for a massive permanent expansion of the welfare state."

Finally, Schweikart related that FDR adviser Raymond Moley "was 'impressed by the scantiness of (FDR's) precise knowledge of things that he was talking about (and) by the immense and growing egotism that came from his office."

Obama has sometimes revealed himself to be similarly uninformed on matters about which he has revealed an inflexible certainty, such as the complexities and consequences of closing Gitmo. Attorney Debra Burlingame attended Obama's meeting with families of terrorist victims, where he tried to justify his decision to drop charges against the USS Cole bomber. She said Obama said the right words in general, but when it came to specifics, he was "uncertain, uninformed and sometimes just plain mistaken." In addition, many have begun to comment on Obama's egotism, some even calling it narcissism.

Oh Yes, Pathologic Narcissism
Barack Obama intends on expanding the base of uninformed, uneducated citizens who will support the government at any cost, including their personal freedoms. He intends on choosing this because he twists reality and fantasy, just as a pathological narcissistic disorder would show. He may have a problem on his hands, though, since 48% of the last election's voters did not vote for him, and the numbers may be even higher now that some have seen his reckless approach to governing. He may see a revolution when those who previously had a home and job are still jobless in 2010-2012, and with high taxes and stagflation.

welfare reform
Changes would be very bad. I don't think we go far enough -- somebody who has children while unmarried and while on welfare should lose those children to an orphanage. If you accept public benefits, you simply should not be rewarded for irresponsible behavior. However, we are long past having a society that assigned blame to anyone for conduct. The Republicans gave up on this when they did not go after Bush for firing Lawrence Lindsey for claiming that Iraq could cost $100 billion -- when it turned out that it now may end up being $3 trillion. Same goes for the prescription medicare program -- instead of using the VA plan as an example -- Repubs gave a handout to big pharma. Again, few Republicans say anything (and people like me who did say something were called traitors for making those points).

Repubs are wrong about FDR to some extent -- prior to WWII unemployment actually got down to 10 percent -- so it was cut by more than half. Some of his policies did work.

The author's brother -- who claimed that Union retirees just "make too much money" is a hypocrite because if someone claims another profession "makes too much" it is class warfare. But for Rush, only Union people "make too much." Let's see -- making $60K at a Union job, with a $40K retirement is "too much" -- but someone who makes millions of dollars per year earned it. Of course, Rush is also a former welfare recipient (even though his family could have supported him -- they were millionaires) -- and someone who believes "druggies" should rot in jail -- but he should not.

Obama's True Intent
Obama's real agenda is to so establish the one-party rule of the Democrats that our republic essentially becomes a dictatorship. Unless there is a second American Revolution to reclaim true Constitutional government, you can write the obituary for the American republic. We then will discover why the Founding Fathers so hated democracy and its tyrannical results.

Obama
contradicted himself by saying that "he believes we can choose our own economic destiny to go another four years with the same reckless fiscal policies that have busted our budget, wreaked havoc in our economy, and mortgaged our children's future on a mountain of debt; or we can restore fiscal responsibility in Washington." So to help all our problems you intend to go against what you just said. Obama, not only are you still in campaign mode, you are in an alternate universe. I'd like to know where you are from.

feargal uninformed

Back to the self-appointed expert on Irish history, our own genocide of the Indians, and now Roosevelt's New Deal. You're wrong, Fgal,

"The author's brother -- who claimed that Union retirees just "make too much money" is a hypocrite because if someone claims another profession "makes too much" it is class warfare. But for Rush, only Union people "make too much." Let's see -- making $60K at a Union job, with a $40K retirement is "too much" -- but someone who makes millions of dollars per year earned it. REPY-- in your face

Why not factor in the truth that most of the wealth unions negotiate for dues-paying members isn't earned at all; it's extorted.

If we could subtract what unions take by corruption and thuggery, you'd be correct about the benefits they stand for. Why not admit that union activity has no equal for racketeering, false testimonies and compulsion applied to the members themselves? And they always demand MORE!

The Raw Deal
First the Square Deal, then the New Deal, then the Fair Deal, then The Great Society, then Clinton, now the Raw Deal.

In my opinion, the foundation for socialism has been laid by BHO's predecessors, which is scary. At least they got some true benefit out of some of their programs.......infrastructure so commerce was assisted.

Now we have the Raw Deal. Taking our money and giving it to Acorn. Giving it to public schools which have been wasteful, preoccupied with all the wrong subjects and unable to produce a world-class product...so they ask for more money and the teachers unions want more money so they can repeat their errors a little longer.

The Raw Deal is a cycle or waste and entitlement that is built on a foundation of socialist sand. There's no improvement for business and commerce, just threats of oversight and reprimands. The free market and individualism seem to be the enemy.

It's a Raw Deal.

Clueless or Machiavellian?
Obama may not have said that capitalism is the enemy, but his supporters say so all the time. That was the thrust of a discussion on Hardball today. These spending programs (you don't think this is the last one do you?) are going to inhibit economic activity. Does Obama honestly not realize this or does he have ulterior motives, that is the question.

The Truth

Listen folks...Republicans and Democrats and others in between. A question for you...

If you had just become president and the country was in the dire straits it surely is in...wouldn't you be worried?

Would you be happily flying all around the country as if you had not one care in the world? Or would you be worried to death and trying to make folks not feel so afraid? Think about it. Your job should be to make us feel safe.

Then again,if you had helped plan this debaucle and know it is happening exactly as planned, you would be gleeful at how at the turn of events.

So help me,I think he is happy seeing how well the plan is working. He has the country in his hands and a fortune to play with.

Head Knowledge.

It is hilarious to read some of these mind numbed troll's and their ramblings. They have really got some hang-ups.

Rush,Hannity and the Palins are in their head and try as they might, they can't get them out. They can't type ONE post with referencing them. It is so endearing.

rowley
sounds like bush that you are describing.

Rowley
Does a viper have fangs; and does a cobras venom kill? Of course he's happy, and like
a godking, he doesn't have a problem tooting around the country wasting both fuel and money so he can be in venues to be adored. Denver, so interesting, that's where he first appeared to his adoring worshipping subjects.

Liberal Trolls
How long will these BDS afflicted trolls hang on to their ailment? Will he be blamed for the duration? Bogus blame.

Or will they be forced to admit they bought a pig in a poke who was in on a 'Grand Scheme' with Soros, etc.to CHANGE the country?

I am sad for the naive and awed poor people who knew no better, but these hotshot know-it-alls deserve what they will get.

Even the mentally challenged will have to look reality in the face and admit they were had.I hope they will be so kind to tell us all how stupid they were. We knew it all the time.

Tea Party.
Yes,he will have our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's tax money to blow while he is still politicing.

He does not enjoy being president. After all he is just a figurehead. A frontman for the real power behind his throne. He enjoys the adulation of the crowds just like Fidel and Chavez.

I keep asking myself how anybody could fall for this unknown Chicago gangster. I hope Blago tells all when he goes to court. He knows it.

Ranger29
I would not go around calling anyone stupid if I were you. You are to stupid too realize that there is a reason that you are banned by 0800 every weekday morning.

Economy
We had fantastic economic growth under President Bush up until last year when the plans of B. Frank, C. Dodd, and C. Schumer caught up with this country.

President Bush came into office with the country in a recession, although mild. Then came 9/11 and the economy sank. After two rounds of tax cuts for the people and business, the economy grew, adding millions of jobs.

The dems could not let this happen, so all the instances where Bush and the Republicans in Congress kept pushing for reform and regulation with Freddie and Fannie, the dems basically said there is absolutely nothing wrong with Freddie and Fannie and the legislation went NOWHERE.

Now we have come full circle . . . back to Frank, Dodd, and Schumer.

The Mask of Sanity
Our "honorable" "president" is showing himself to be a psychopath. I now believe it highly likely that he is not a U.S. citizen, based solely on the fact that I have known a psychopath for years and know to never put ANYTHING past them.

4% of the population is sociopathic. 1% of the population is psychopathic. Read the Mask of Sanity for free online to learn more about this personality type that has no detectable trace of a conscience.

Obama has no conscience. He lies and cynically uses other people's honesty against them for his own benefit and perverted pleasure (see google for John McCain and public campaign financing). Every single one of his friends his corrupt.

He will eventually be unmasked before all when his lies catch up with him. And then the liberals in academia will give him his apotheosis so that all future generations think him a god so as to prevent the country for seeing what kind of men the democrats consistently choose for their leaders.

Obama
would sooner promise to pardon Blagojevich in return for his not squealing at trial. this could result in a game of chicken as the trial date approaches until inevitably, Blagojevich turns up dead.

Another dishonest Townhall article

All Limbaugh is trying to do is make a bunch of misleading comparisons in order to get you guys all fired up with your hatred of Obama. Just look at the one above foaming on about Obama's "pathological narcissistic disorder".

It's one of the cheapest, stupidest, and most despicable forms of propaganda. You readers should feel insulted by Limbaugh.

Ranger29
I quit trying to figure out your gibberish a long time ago.

Can you see the errors in this sentence from you?

no record of the post is by my chosing...I dont want anyone tossing them back in my face when I go home and run for office (or have other things done).

Dr. Douglas
I feel insulted that a major prevaricator, keeps insulting us.

Poor Robert
Where have you been for the last 8 years? Everything I said is well-documented.

But that's OK. I really feel sorry for you folks.

Dr. Douglas
Ah, the nostalgia. Just like with President Clinton, the mere act of disagreeing with President Obama means Hatred of Obama. And a Hater is someone who can be ignored and dismissed. I feel 17 years younger!

Ranger 29 why resort to name calling?
Can't you refer to Bush or Rush Limbaugh without calling them names? I don't "luv our prez" but it doesn't help anybody to call him names. Why not stick to facts and disagreements without being disagreeable yourself? It doesn't help your argument when you come across as a whiny teen.

Dr. Douglas
Oregon . . . that figures!

Ranger 29
Why because my suggestions bring out the fact that you cannot even write a coherent grammatically correct sentence?

BTW, last time I was tested my IQ came in at 152.

Candace, true, true
"48% of the last election's voters did not vote for him, and the numbers may be even higher now" unless ACORN can create, er, "find" more "voters" than last time to re-elect him again.

Already the list is far too long...

Bozo has more than demonstrated just how narcissistic and pathetically psychotic he truly is. (Similar to IQ29, of course.)

How could anyone possibly forget Branenburg Gate?

It's been called, among other things, "massive hubris of the Obama campaign to even suggest" that Bozo even presume to speak at Brandenburg Gate.

I also think it demonstrated just how naive and ill prepared Obama is to be any world leader, not to mention a national embarrassment.

And then, to make matters even MORE embarrassing, German Chancellor20Angela Merkel had to "un-invite" Obama as even his presumptuousness was "inappropriate."

And THEN, less than 48 HOURS after his costly coronation, using his newly acquired Emperor (Exec.) Order pen, after he signed an order to close Gitmo, one of his spokespersons was forced to admit...

"… he hasn't yet fully explored the potentially negative consequences...it is more complicated than it first appeared."

Which, of course, begs the question... what else is he going to do, and what will be the CONSEQUENCES be of such reckless behavior?

I only hope it won't be the dismantling of our National Security and CIA... and we get attacked, and his henchmen will say....

"Ooops, he hasn't yet fully explored the potentially negative consequences...it is more complicated than it first appeared."

Ranger29 aka Robert
"Pat...how silly.
none of the folks you mention got a single bill passed while Bush was POTUS..much less did anything to the economy."

Do you actually understand how Congress works? The Senate is actually the backstop for what takes place in the House. With the GOP and Dems almost in equal numbers in the Senate, no legislation on Freddie and Fannie ever got out of the Senate.

Poor Waifs.
It is hilarious to read some of these mind numbed troll's and their ramblings. They have really got some hang-ups.

Robert
You are the one living in a fantasy world.

This is quite boring.

Pat-AZ: NO, IQ29 does NOT know how

Congress works. He's clueless.

And as far as his IQ... believe me, it's much closer to 20 than 152...

He barely functional. BUT, have you seen his "resume?" It's a hoot. I'll be more than happy to share it with you sometime when you need a laugh. (WE all laugh about it every time it's posted! LOL)

Pat:
What you need to know about Ranger'sIQ's-29 is that when anyone here states anything about his/her experience Ranger'sIQ's-29 says he has done the same the thing, only better.

Debra Burlingame pretty much nailed Bozo

"She said Obama said the right words in general, but when it came to specifics, he was "UNCERTAIN, UNINFORMED, and sometimes JUST PLAIN MISTAKEN." In addition, many have begun to comment on Obama's egotism, some even calling it narcissism.

Ranger29
And then there are those who claim to have a massive amount of experience, which they don't

Pat- for warmups
Ranger 29 is the Jesse MacBeth of TH. Jesse made up Ranger stories about massacres, his resume, and his war experiences.

The media ate it up. Trouble is he never had any of those experiences, and had never been a Ranger. He had been thrown out of the army after six weeks of basic.

He was a complete made up phony.

Ranger29 patterns himself exactly like Macbeth down to his speech patterns and his left wing rants about the right wing.

If you google Jesse MacBeth, Ranger sometime, you will see what I mean.

Deputy & Pat: You know HOW we can tell

IQ29 was never in the Navy? Were he aboard any ship, they'd have thrown in overboard in the middle of the night, and about 30mins later, someone would have whispered... "Twit overboard."

And, were he in Iraq... or anywhere in the ME as he claims, they'd have paid some al Qaeda guy to SHOOT HIM! :-)

BTW Ranger'sIQ's-29
You might, erase yor "paper trail." but your problem is that too many of us here have very good memories when it comes to all of your bullsh1t comments

Ranger'sIQ's-29
You'd lose a debate with a statue.

Roosevelt was owned by the NY Bankers
Exactly like Obama is, and GW Bush was.
Along with his daddy and Billy bob Klinton.

Schweikart wrote, "Roosevelt hoped to capitalize on the terrifying collapse of the economy to bulldoze through a set of policies that fundamentally rearranged the business and welfare foundations of American life."

Roosevelt did the bankers bidding in taking over public works and confiscation of gold to give power over the economy to the bankers as we seen when GW Bush aided the take over of the banks by the government for Bernanke and Paulson.

They are the true government, the bankers own American Government.

The Fiat Federal Banking note we falsely call a dollar will have gone the way of the Confederate Dollar by the end of 2010.
Watch

Well,
it's late, and I must be up early. So I am off too bed. Good night all, except Ranger'sIQ's-29, who can rot in hell.

This is accurate, not even funny

Pat
Have you had enough or are you hungry for more? If you look in the bottom of a barrel, you will find the Ranger.

Isn't it interesting
That Rush makes about $60 Million a year doing google, and other media source searches for information that the MSM WILL NOT TELL US, then fills up THREE HOURS a day, FIVE DAYS A WEEK reporting that information to us so that we'll know the things that are going on in our nations capital that the people there don't want us to know about.

Yet here's a little PISSANT who makes probably 1/100th of what Rush makes, asking Rush's brother "when is Rushbo going to learn to do a "search" for a PDF file?"

The irony of that is just too funny.

One of these days little Wobbie will grow up. But I doubt that it'll be in this lifetime.

Actually Deputy
Some of us have much more than a "very good memory"of Wobbie's deranged ramblings here on Townhall.

He might act like he thinks it's a good thing that his posts are wiped out daily. But just because Townhall no longer has any of his treasonous comments against his Commander in Chief, or anyone else in the military Chain of Command that he's slammed probably hundreds of times in these threads, doesn't mean that they're gone forever and can't be used against him in the future, as he thinks will be the case.

WE have the majority of the juiciest, and most treasonous of them archived for just such an occassion.

Sleep welll Wobbie. Your past, and your big mouth IS GOING TO come back and bite you on your fat stupid azs just when you least expect it, or can afford for it To be brought up.

Go away little PISSANT
You don't know anything about "people like me" because you don't know me, or how I think, or who I listen to, or what I believe.

So DON'T sit there in your mommie's basement being a brave computer commando and presume to tell me what "people like me" think. Or what I "went/go along with."

Pleasant dreams, loser.

And for the record Wobbie
Even though you probably won't see this for quite a while, DON'T talk down to me about ANYONE.
There is NOBODY on this site that's better than you when it comes to being a slimey, smelly pile of what we use shovels to clear out of our horse barn on a daily basis.

Anne is a friend of mine, and she's forgotten more, about more things, than you'll ever know if you lived 1000 years. So I won't be telling her to go away any time soon. And there is NO REASON for anyone on this site to EVER be nice to you.

Plenty of people, myself included, have tried being nice to you. You've turned around and SLAPPED ALL OF US across the face with it, so DON'T tell me about people who should be nicer to others.

Why
do you bother responding to him?

Don't you know it kills the thread?

hockey mom-you are an idiot
First of all any person that thinks Rush Limbaugh is intelligent should do us all a favor and leave the GOP and start a new conservatives only politcal party-I encourage you to do so and please take Anne with you. Neither, you, Rush, nor Anne will be missed. Thank the lord above that Pat Robertson is finnally calling Limbaugh out on his detriment to the fabric of America.

Second if you actually took the time to read Anne well researched and thoroughly documented post on "Robert" you would have seen that Anne has been taken for a sucker by robert and he just keeps feeding her knowing that she is incapable resisting her lesser angels. She takes the bait everytime and now it would seem so are you.

This is why "anne"(and retired geek) is a thread killer and why I stay closer to the actuall blogs where there is thoughtful politcal discourse and not just you three stooges poking each other in the eye.

Economy aside...
...will Obama have the guts to fight a war against our enemies...and protect us and the constitution....my gut tells me no...

Obama and narcissism
I am wondering at the possibility that Obama's egotism has crossed into narcissism. I truly can't say it is so, and I do pray for him, but the charge of narcissism is absolutely true of some of his followers, particularly those who crowd the blogs.

Democracy or Mob Rule
As we see from the past two weeks, the dark side of democracy is that it can descend into mob rule. The Pelosi crowd has grabbed the opportunity and run off with one of the greatest thefts in history. The Orwellian overtones of this moment are chilling, and this in a week when a South American dictator consolidates his power with a vote.

Unchecked democracy leads to what we see today.

Beware.

FRIDAY THE 13TH HORROR BILL
By coincidence the Friday the 13th Horror Bill was signed into law by Obama at 1300 hours (1:23 PM) Denver time at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. If you translate the letters of this six word name into their numerical equivalents using the standard English numerological system: A-I=1-9; J-R=1-9; S-Z=1-8 it will have a total numeric value of 130, or 13 with the zero dropped.

BIG SURPRISE HERE…NOT! The Sail Eared Simpleton is dumber than a sack of hammers and INCAPABLE of original thoughts and/or ideas. WHY do you think he keeps grasping at past presidents for idea? Barry the Stoner is a Typical Liberal Male, a Spoiled Rotten, Gutless Coward of a Mama’s Boy.

Phil-NJ: Your gut tells you no, and Bozo

has said as much in a hundred different ways.

What I don't understand is how everyone hasn't "heard" it and still thinks he's a messiah.

I'm not sure what about Bozo is the scariest... his ineptitude or that he's made it clear that he won't fight a war against our enemies...or protect us and the Constitution....

Au contraire, Anne
Obama IS fighting a war against his enemies - Republicans believe Islam terrorism is America's greatest enemy. Obama believes Republicans are America's greatest enemy. He's fighting us, the entire democrat party is doing their best to defeat us everywhere, to silence our voice and our writers, and to remove any vestige of the God we believe in. It's weird that Obama embraces Lincoln, the founder of the Republican Party. Look at who the democrats fight - that is who they believe their enemy is. They don't fear jihadists - they fear conservatism in their own country. These people are true cowards, and thoroughly dishonest. It takes a lot of lying to see your own fellow countrymen as your worst enemy when the obvious enemy murdered 3000 of us on 9/11/2001, and promises every day to wipe us off the face of the earth. And now, these dishonest cowards are in charge of everything, because most of us were too naive to see what they actually were doing. Altogether now....NOW MORE DENIAL!

Donna-CA: Good, no EXCELLENT point!

I stand corrected! :-)

However, I take issue with "'most' of us were too naive..."

There were actually a LOT of us who saw this, and saw it very early on.

I suspect that while Bozo is so arrogant as to say "I won" he's too ignorant and narcissistic to see that he didn't' "win" by a lot. In fact, 52%-48% is really a "squeaker" in a national election.

And that could be the beginning of his downfall.... his hubris, ignorance, and narcissism.

Taxpayers Are Suckers.
It is unbelievable that congress and Bush went along with the TARP boondoggle. No one yet knows where that money was spent.

Then comes this Pork Bill. We are beginning to see where it is going and we our families will eventually pay for destroying our country.

No matter how you look at it,it is a payoff for Democrat control of the masses.Give-away programs to give more hand-outs to unproductive parasites.

When jobs are to be let, they will go to minorities. When workers are to be let go,they will not be minorities. This is reparations under another name, but reparations,it is.

The socialists want us all on a level playing field. Bring the haves down and build the have-nots up. No matter how hard some of us worked and how little others did.

Class warfare to the nth degree. Another Third World Country. Ready to join the New World Order?

How often do you listen to Rush?
What is intelligence? What is wisdom?
Who are you to call someone an idiot?
I agree some people should be ignored.
How do you define Conservatism?
Why should the Republican Party be more like the Democrat Party?

Uncanny
"But the emperor has no clothes."

New Congressman from Ohio
has promise.
I heard Jim Jordon interviewed on the radio yesterday. He is very articulate and is not afraid to hand out facts. He is not afraid to stand up and point out what is right and what is wrong. He did so many times in Ohio Legislature. He is an economics major. He knows that what is going on is wrong and why it is wrong and why it will not work and is able to explain it to everyday people. He is young and energetic and honest. It is our responsibility to find more people like him now. People that are willing to serve this ungrateful, greedy, socialist and foolish people.

In Economics 101
We learned how and why Keynsian Economics fail and why Malthus was full of hot air. I don't get it. That was 30 years ago. Where are our leaders getting their ideas? Do they live in the Age of Aquarius, Age of Aquarius, Aquarius in their own minds. What in the heck was Bush thinking? I'm sorry but he was without excuse. He could have sat down with any conservative economist OR ANY OF THE PEOPLES AT THE HERITAGE FOUNDATION. I have to believe that there is more to the story than what we will ever find out. What happened in Mid- September 2008? Who was behind it???????????????????????????????????And why did George W let them get away with it?

Opportunities to do great harm
Limbaugh wrote:
"When Obama peddled panic to rush his bill through Congress, he heeded this advice from Rahm Emanuel: 'Never allow a crisis to go to waste. They are opportunities to do big things.' "

No doubt.

They are also opportunities to tell big lies, commit big frauds and perpetrate big thefts.

They are an excuse to commit big crimes. What is there about the Obama-Democrat "stimulus" bill that honors the principles of representative government? This was a breathtaking power grab and a damnable act of larceny.

Those who devised, supported and passed this abomination are perjurers and extortionists.

Those billions upon billions of dollars that do not exist and that they have pledged toward the perpetual enslavement of our children and the destruction of this nation -- is any of that their money? Who says it is? Since when?

Which of us ever got to vote our consciences as concerns this iron yoke? Which of us ever knew what was in it, even as these "devoted and selfless public servants" rushed in a fever to clamp it upon our necks?

If this measure was so noble, why the secrecy? If so prudent, why the haste? If the national need was so "urgent" as they claim, why these coming years of delay upon so much enacted therein?

They know what they've done. They know it's deceptive. This was a chance for political hacks to get their goodies now -- a chance to "do big things."

The wealth of nations belongs to the people who produce it by their labor -- the product of their lives and their talents -- and to the God Who rules those nations and bestows those gifts and is ready to judge the living and the dead.

This generation of politicians is a despicable den of robbers, a contemptible brood of snakes; their destruction hangs over them, and their punishment journeys relentlessly toward them.

Good.

The Republican Party
has tried to find candidates that are electable and pro-death. Why I don't know. The truth is if a person is pro-death they are not good people and do not make good representatives. Personally I am against abortion(I'd never kill a baby but I'll stand aside and let the butcher take his knife to a baby) It is impossible for a good person to be Pro-death.

Rowly #2 & #55
I disagree with your sentence, "Bring the haves down and build the have-nots up". Remove the part, "and build the have-nots up", and it will be correct.
I would be calling on Congress to give us tax reform consisting of repealing all existing taxes and replacing the with a single proper tax levied on the living persons who pay all taxes. This would be a true stimulus plan that created jobs.

Apollo Speaks #7: Do you mean Brain-Dead Ted?

Bill #8: This country started as a republic, not a democracy. President Washington governed. Odumbo intends to RULE.

FeargalX #62: Women who have illegitimate kids and go on welfare should be sterilized, along with the men who sired those kids.
The tax reform plan above would greatly reduce the cost of medicine by removing all the taxes that are a large part of the cost of production.
How about this for a drug addiction solution: Give the addicts a $50 fine, and execute the dope dealers?

Ron
Do you not think giving have-nots nice houses they can't afford and other hand-outs while squeezing the haves tighter and tighter, won't bring them up?

bush
under bush we has 7 years of privatizing the gains then 1 year of socializing the losses. all we are doing is saying bye bye to bush's crony capitalism. good riddance to both.

If....
If Oblumber is going to get all these "stimulus" bills passed anyway, regardless of our opposition, is it wrong to take advantage of the situation if you can?

For example: Oblumber is not going to push thru the mortgage bill. My house has dropped in value by about $100,000. I have multiple medical bills that I can not pay at this point ($80,000 worth). I can take advantage of the provision allowing for principle reduction and refinance. What's the morality of taking advantage of a program that is going to be used by others anyway?

Dr. Douglas
We are just being "patriotic" at least in the Hillary Clinton definition. I don't hate Obama I just disagree with him, or are you too of the mind all disagreement should be silenced?

Remember, Bush is like Hitler, Bush is a dolt, Bush is stupid, Bush has no gravitas, Bush is a moron, Bush should be killed, these were/are the words of your party. Can't you just feel the love.

roy! Pa-lease.. do you have a point?

I didn't think so.

"Conservatives post because the HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY. Liberals post because they HAVE TO SAY SOMETHING."

roy, you are exactly what that means. You never have anything to say, it's just that you have to say something, and unfortunately what you have to say is NOTHING!

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

"bush
under bush we has 7 years of privatizing the gains then 1 year of socializing the losses. all we are doing is saying bye bye to bush's crony capitalism. good riddance to both."

This is liberal code speak for "I am too stupid do make anything of myself on my own so I must profit off of the work of others."

Anne
"roy! Pa-lease.. do you have a point?"

Yes, he does have a point, but unfortunately it is on top of his head.

Steering a Middle Course
Limbaugh engages in the usual conservative nonsense about those pesky liberals who hate capitalism. Liberals do NOT hate capitalism . They hate irresponsible capitalists---and their political enablers---who trash economies while mouthing platitudes about free markets and the need for fewer regulations.

And yes, FDR probably did save American capitalism from itself by reining in its worst impulses and laying the foundations for the kind of social safety net that citizens can rely on when economic downturns---or the vicissitudes of life---threaten their basic security. Had he not done these things, demagogues on the far right and far left stood ready to take the county in less-desirable directions.

In essence, FDR steered a middle course that served the nation well and helped to build the greatest middle class the world has ever seen. That is, until the Reagan conservatives started to dismantlle the good that he did and set the stage for the current financial disaster.

lolo and anne
come on ladies-i think i condensed dubya's philosophy down to a couple of sentences. privatize the gains. socialize the losses. what would you gals call it? i call that crony capitalism.

johninoregon
Brilliant analysis, except, as I recall, unemployment was double digits when Reagan took office, as were interest rates, as was inflation. Foreign policy wasn't so hot either.

As to deregulation, the volume of regulations has skyrocketed since Reagan. It may be that some of this regulation is ill-advised, but the problem isn't its lack. Nor can it be said that these regulations are without Democratic input and support.

As to your thesis that the Republican Party has held sway and forced this country down a far right path ever since Reagan is a little thin. Both Reagan and Bush had more success with their foreign policy agendas than their domestic agendas. Mainly their tax cuts, which enabled growth in the private sector economy but didn't limit the growth of government, were domestic accomplishments.

It strikes me that a basically "middle of the road" approach has continued since Reagan and our current economic crisis owes as much to left wing interference in the housing market as it does to right wing interference with deregulation.

dusty
you really believe that the banks were forced to make loans to poor people and that this lead to this big mess we are in? i'll give you the same 3 word answer i give everyone pushing that tripe-credit default swaps.

dusty
banks were all too happy to make those loans. to everyone. actually the flippers were more responsible than poor folks. everytime they made a loan the banks then bundled them and sold them. they had a lot of buyers since the ratings agencies rated them all triple a. and then the next guy sold them to someone else. and everytime you sold one or bought one a cds was created. therein lies the cause for this mess.

WHEN PORY PIG SAYS THATS ALL FOLKS!
AND ALL THE PIGGY BANK HAS IS CHANGE!WOW!

roy: I know you THINK you condensed

dubya's philosophy down to a couple of sentences.

In fact, I'm sure you really believe that... in your own little mind.

But, in reality, you DIDN'T! In reality, it was more of your blather. Sorry. :-(

anne
well i was trying to take a more complex issue and make it townhall friendly you know. guess i need to do it again. ok here it is. rich corporate campaign contributors good- everyone else bad. hows that?

The Essence of BHO
All you have to understand about Obama to predict his behavior is that he: has only a slightly-better-than-average intellect, is a committed socialist, is a totally self-absorbed egomaniac, and is the smoothest sociopath to appear in American politics since Bill Clinton.
