Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

There is obviously no limit to the political left's bloodlust for all things George W. Bush, as witnessed by two news items this week. If Barack Obama is as levelheaded and pragmatic as his supporters insist, he'll have his work cut out for him dealing with these avengers on his side of the ideological spectrum.

On Tuesday, House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers issued a 500-page report, whose executive summary boasts "was drafted to itemize and document the various abuses that occurred during the Bush Administration." The report recommends "that the new Administration conduct an independent criminal inquiry into whether any laws were broken in connection with these activities."

The same day, Slate magazine published an op-ed by Yale law professor Bruce Ackerman suggesting that 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Jay Bybee be impeached, essentially because "he was responsible for the notorious torture memos that enabled the excesses at Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, and other places."

Both of these items are equally outrageous and demonstrate the potential dangerousness of leftists in power. How ironic that the gravamen of each complaint is an alleged abuse of power while its recommended remedy would constitute a worse abuse (the criminalization of policy differences), especially considering the weakness of the complaints.

The Conyers vendetta seeks to criminally probe Bush officials involved with the National Security Agency's surveillance program, the tough interrogation techniques of enemy combatants, the manipulation of intelligence, the firing of U.S. attorneys, and other matters.

The report protests that its purpose "is not payback, but to uphold the rule of law. … Such an effort would be a welcome sign to our friends, and a warning to our foes, that this Nation can indeed serve as a beacon of liberty and freedom without weakening our ability to combat terrorism or other threats."

Oh, yes, I'm sure al-Qaida is quaking in its boots at the prospect of indictments of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld for implementing policies they deemed necessary -- and which have proved to be immensely successful -- to thwart terrorism and safeguard the United States. Fitting the outgoing administration for orange jumpsuits would surely be a stern "warning to our foes."

If the NSA's warrantless wiretap procedure were so threatening to our civil liberties, liberals wouldn't have to mischaracterize it as domestic spying on innocent old ladies, as opposed to the monitoring of terrorist communications into the United States for the purpose of preventing attacks. If it were such an abuse of executive power, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court of Review wouldn't have reaffirmed that the president has inherent constitutional authority to monitor these international communications without permission from the court.

If Rep. Conyers were so worried about the president's almost unfettered right to fire U.S. attorneys, as opposed to playing partisan politics, he would have fiercely objected when President Clinton fired them all at the beginning of his tenure.

If President Bush and his crew manipulated intelligence, which has always been a malicious slander, then so must have the major intelligence agencies of all other major nations in the world, which independently reached the same conclusions about Iraqi WMD. An uncanny coincidence, indeed.

If waterboarding -- which was used exceedingly sparingly by this administration -- based on authorizing legal opinions and which produced lifesaving results is so immoral, what alternatives do our feckless domestic enemies propose for gleaning information that would have prevented these attacks? Are they sorry, on balance, that lives were saved that would not have otherwise been saved?

This returns us to the Ackerman op-ed urging impeachment of Judge Bybee for "his legal distortions" concerning those "torture memos." In the liberal spirit of declaring their opinions the only reasonable opinions -- as with global warming -- Ackerman apparently believes that any lawyer who opines that tough interrogation techniques, such as waterboarding, do not constitute torture is guilty of legal distortion and is "a systematic enabler of the war crimes that have disgraced America." Ackerman allows that Bybee "may have acted in good faith," but his opinion "fails minimum tests of legal competence."

There you have it. If you disagree with this liberal professor about an issue on which reasonable people clearly disagree, you are incompetent, and unless you can demonstrate your good faith, you should be punished. The gracious professor Ackerman tells us that we shouldn't be too concerned for Bybee because "impeachment should not be confused with criminal prosecution." Phew. Now I feel better.

Though Obama has made clear on several occasions that he agrees with Conyers' positions, he is probably too shrewd to go along with his recommendations because it might interfere with his much more ambitious goals of nationalizing health care, instituting his new New Deal, and liberalizing even further the nation's pro-abortion policies. Some consolation.

Either way, don't underestimate the left's manifest willingness to criminalize and otherwise punish dissent from their dogma.

MMMmmm....
"..the majority of americans want a new direction away from the divisive negativity and partisanship of bush-cheney and the conservatives..they want a pragmatic problem solving approach the will unite the country and that is what obama and the dems represent.."

Obama is continuing Bush's TARP policy and will throw $1 trillion of borrowed taxpayers money at the economy. If that doesn't work, he will throw another $1 trillion of borrowed taxpayers money at the problem.

Obama says he will continue Bush's wiretap prorgram
Obama says he will continue to use "agressive" intergoation techniques on prisoners.
Obama says he will continue to send tens of thousands of soliders into Afghanistan.
Obama says it could take 4 years before the last combat brigades leave Iraq.
Obama says Climate Change taxes will have to wait until after the recession is over.
Obama says he will not raise taxes or allow Bush's tax cuts to expire until after the recession is over.
Obama says going after Bin Laden is not such a great idea afterall.

Obama has filled key Cabinet posts not to mention fill key White House positions with Clinton retreads -not the least he appointed Hillary as his Sec of State.

So....Obama will attempt to govern as Bush43 did with people who ran the Clinton Administration. Sounds like Hope and Change to me. Obama ran against Hillary representing the people who niether wanted another Clinton in the WH, nor a continuation of Bush's policies.

To Denny of TX
All you said of Detroit is sadly true except for one point. Mr. Ellison, a Muslim, is a congressman from Minn. Anyway, Mr. Conyer's wife, Monica Conyers, is a member of the Detroit City Council along with 7 other members. You can always count on a well publized brawl at one of their gatherings, and Mrs. Conyers is usually in the middle of it. Our Democrat governor, Mrs. Granholm has never seen a tax she doesn't love. She is attractive and a gifted speaker, so that is all it seems to matter. Michigan is a beautiful state with a lot to offer, but the incompetent Democrats have just about destroyed it. How sad...the future of the country? With Democrats in charge, I'm afraid so.

Detroit..the joke
To Denny from Tx.
What you heard about Detroit was correct. One error though. Mr. Ellison, the only Muslim in Congress represent Minn. Mr. Conyer's wife, Monica Conyers, is a member of the Detroit City Council. along with 6 other ladies and one gentleman. Their meetings are usually national news as you can always depend on a brawl of some sort. Mrs. Conyers is usually involved.

I just heard on Fox News
this morning that the State of Michigan school district is sending home letters asking parents to send lightbulbs, trash bags and toilet paper to school with their children because the district no longer can afford these items. Here in Texas we send boxes of tissues to school with the children, but that is more reasonable than these other items. Then, a 3rd grade teacher said they do not even have textbooks for the children, so those children who might take home textbooks so their parents could help them with their schoolwork, cannot do so. What in the ?????? is wrong with Michigan? Highest tax rates in the nation, a Muslim Ellison in their congress, a vile man like Conyers "representing" the good people of the State of Michigan? Is this the future of our country?

Doc
You are entirely correct about the timing it would take to plan 9/11.

What you fail to understand or admit is that it's not that President Bush could (or might) have prevented 9/11 by taking action after receiving the "BIN-LADEN DETERMINED TO STRIKE INSIDE THE USA" memo...what indicts him is that by all reports he paid no attention whatsoever to it and chose to ignore it for things that he believed to be more important.

And if you believe that President Bush should be given a free pass on that decision, then you are little different from the nut case libs who believe he caused 9/11.

The ball has been returned to your court.

Eagle and Gunny
Your sophomoric comments about Clinton speak volumes about you. Tell us, was our nation better off in 2000 or now in 2009?

Your inane yapping about Clinton must mean that you are devoid of anything else to say...or you are terribly upset that our nation will soon have a smart black guy as our president.

And if having Obama as your president upsets you, be reminded that the only reason Obama got elected was because of the incredible ineptness of President Bush over the past 8 years.

However, that should only hurt if you voted for President Inept. Hurts, doesn't it?

Bloodletting?
The only thing the Left wants is to see the Conservatives, especially the religious, bleed profusely even to the end of their lives.

The Good News......nomo
You will only need suffer BDS four more days.

The bad news: You will chose to suffer as long as you want.

The truth has it's shoes on, but the leftist have tied the laces together. Never in the annals of history has a leftists lies liberated a people, feed a person or rewarded them for their effort.

The truth is well known. You have acquired power in the good old leftist fashion. The people stupid enough to believe you are stupid enough to take solace in the suffering of others. All of your snipping and back stabbing have earned you the right to have Stalinist show trials and imprison your political rivals "NOT".

I doubt
if the truth every fully comes out on the criminality of Bush and his cronies. Maybe we should keep Gitmo open just in case tho.

The Good News......Doc
The leftists understand the exercise in rational thought that you have put forth.

The bad news: They propose a works program aimed at frustrated under privileged terrorists that will cost $85 Billion over the next ten years.

The Good News......
A 500 page report and they still need to see
"that the new Administration conduct an independent criminal inquiry into whether any laws were broken in connection with these activities."

The bad news: Stalin is dead and political purges rage on blindly.

Doc Liberty
An exercise in futility...trying to reason with the unreasonable...

bipartisan my...
Please do...and good luck with all THAT.

Furthermore, what would YOU do?
I seriously doubt that few leftists, even the ones on TH, are really stupid enough to believe that Osama conceived, funded, planned, trained, and put into motion the 9/11 plot between 12/12/2000 (the date of resolution of Bush v Gore) and 9/11/01.

For those who are, no amount of evidence or reason will change their minds. For those who aren't, it really should be pointed out that the infamous "bin Ladin Determined to Strike in US" was generally right, on the same level of general correctness as "Politician determined to win votes," but wrong in every particular. Here's the link to the memo if you doubt me:

http://news.findlaw.com/hdocs/docs/terrorism/80601pdb.html

But all that being said, pretend you were POTUS for a moment. And let me give you far more accurate and timely information than Pres. Bush had.

On Aug. 31, 2001, your CIA, NSA and FBI chiefs file into your office and tell you, "Mr./Ms. President, sometime in the next month 20 Muslim males, all foreign nationals between the ages of 20 and 45, are going to hijack commercial jetliners. We know these planes will be taking off from three of the twenty largest cities in America. We know that they will be used as flying bombs against a large military installation, a large commercial/industrial installation, and a large governmental institution. That's all we know right now."

Ball's in your court, leftists. What do YOU do?

John: Breaking the Typical Progression
So you want an investigation? All right.

To reiterate the answers I gave your ideological brethren:

"He exploited the tragedy of 9/11 to build political power based on fear and hate."

Which is why there are interment camps filled with US citizens to this day. Oh wait, that was leftist icon FDR.

"He lied the country into an illegal and disastrous war."

Which is why he pretended neutrality while covertly aiding a warring nation and seeking an opportunity to bring the US into war. Oh wait, that was leftist icon FDR.

"He undermined our morality as a nation with his policies of torture and rendition."

Which is why he executed US citizens after a brief military tribunal. Oh wait, that was leftist icon FDR.

"He initiated illegal spying on Americans,"

Which is why he instituted an Office of Censorship to censor all US communication. Oh wait, that was leftist icon FDR.

"he politicized the judiciary,"

Which is why he decided to pack the Supreme Court. Oh wait, that was leftist icon FDR.

"he undermined and misused science,"

Which is why he directed the Manhattan Project to create the most destructive weapon in human history. Oh wait, that was leftist icon FDR.

"and he tried to cover up all these crimes through secrecy and obstruction of justice (3 million emails disappeared!)."

Which, again, is why he instituted an Office of Censorship to censor all US communication. Oh wait, that was leftist icon FDR.

All any defender of Bush has to do is pull out the history of WW II and Conyers et al will pack their legal briefs and slink away.

NEW YORK - The Al Jazeera Network plans to announce on Thursday that it has signed a deal to run its news on Worldfocus, a syndicated nightly news program produced in New York and distributed throughout the United States.

The deal would help the international news network, one of the top services in the Arabic-speaking world, broaden its reach in the United States, where it so far has been available to only a limited audience.

Worldfocus, hosted by former NBC News correspondent Martin Savidge, is produced by New York City public broadcaster WLIW and syndicated to a number of Public Broadcasting Service affiliates, as well as other stations in 60 U.S. markets, including 27 of the top 30.

Whatever David...
As of jan 20 2009 barack obama will be potus and the democrats will be in control of the u.s. congress because the majority in this country are fed up with the filed policies of the bush-cheney and former republican congress who had control of the u.s. govt for 6 of the last 8 years with bush holding the veto pen over the dem congress the last 2 years..the majority of americans want a new direction away from the divisive negativity and partisanship of bush-cheney and the conservatives..they want a pragmatic problem solving approach the will unite the country and that is what obama and the dems represent..the repub/con gop brand is in tatters and you have nothing to offer but negativity and no ideas as how to solve the nations problems...you are the minority and you deserve every bit of it with your arrogance and conciet that only you know how to run the country, which you did..right into the ground.
to the bush administration good luck and good riddance.

Trojan Horse
Investigations and prosecutions will be good cover for the real problems created and continued by the Dems over the next few years.
Those who believe the anti-American socialists can take care of them will be cheering at the lies fed to them by the MSM.
They will be distracted for a while until their free ride is over and chaos ensues.
It will be too late when the useful idiots wakeup to realize what they have elected to power has become their worst nightmare!

The Awful Truth, for President Bush

Fact is, some of the most serious charges against Pres. Bush have been leveled by some noted Conservative Republicans.

Re 9/11, we have JAMES P. PINKERTON, respected Conservative journalist and Fox News analyst who once worked in the White House under Presidents Reagan and George H.W. Bush. Pinkerton implied criminal negligence when he wrote the following in his April 9, 2004 Newsday column entitled, "Pre-9/11 Doings Coming to Light":

"President George W. Bush got a blunt warning five weeks before Sept. 11 and he did little or nothing. ... Plenty of people in Washington had their 'hair on fire' about the terror threat in the summer of 2001. But not Bush, apparently. On Aug. 4, he went off on a working vacation to his ranch in Texas."

Re Iraq, National Review Editor RICH LOWRY, was equally critical of Pres. Bush in his Oct. 9, 2007 Town Hall column, "The Lonely War." Four and a half years into the Iraq conflict, Lowry wrote: "The U.S. government has never brought to bear its resources in a truly national effort to win (the Iraq War). "

Considering that Pres. Bush had sold war in Iraq to the American people on the basis war was necessary for the security and survival of the U.S., Lowry's statement also implied criminal negligence on Pres. Bush's part.

Last March, Town Hall columnist CLIFF MAY wrote that "One can say the invasion of Iraq was unwise: Before committing troops to battle, a president should have a realistic understanding of what can be achieved, in what time frame, and at what cost. One can say the occupation of Iraq was bungled. ... The result of so many errors and misjudgments was catastrophic."

Last year, during the Republican candidates' debates MITT ROMNEY charged that after initial success, the Iraq effort, deemed so crucial to U.S. security, was "mismanaged, underprepared. underplanned and understaffed."

John
Under the progression that you illustrate, it seems that the problem is that the conservative side is too slow to follow the liberal descent into irrationality. Your side hasn't been interested in rational conversation or legitimate dissent since the start of the Reagan Administration.

Left Angle
Your side ran Congress the past couple of years. The policies imposed by your former president, William the Perjuruer, were chiefly responsible for the meltdown of the financial markets, while your side promises an economic policy that will continue the crisis in order to keep power. Your post is the perfect illustration of the cackling and gloating by your philosophical counterparts in Germany during the 1930's and 1940's as your neighbors were marched off to the gas chambers. You sowed the seeds of hatred over the last eight years, but we'll all reap the impending calamity.

Typical Progression
The typical progression in a conversation like this includes the following steps.

1. It's a normal though combative conversation, with rational actors on bith sides.

2. Those rational conservatives who, through habit, are trying to defend an effectively indefensible position begin to fade.

3. Eventually, the rational conservatives completely abandon the conversation because its embarassing to be on the same side of an argument as a GunnyG or a Rowly.

4. Ultimately, all that is left on the conservative side is a group of true believers who are incapable of a rational discussion.

This is also a microcosm of the current political landscape. Rational conservatives simply became embarassed by their own allies.

GunnyG
I hope you are right. I would never have believed a president-elect would appoint such a group of crooks. Clinton Retreads.

Of course,it is Clinton, who is behind it. They will overreach and we will come in and pick up the pieces as we always do when the left tears it up.

Gunny G: After 8 yrs of Bush
running the country into the ground, the majority voted for a new direction away from the failed policies of Bush and the republicans...

I am going to enjoy watching once again eat a massive double meat CROW sandwich DRY with no mustard when obama gets re-elected...just as i heard him say yesteday:

The biggest mistake the GOP senators made was voting to acquit.

The biggest mistake Bush made was not firing EVERY clintonite in 2001. They backstabbed and screwed him like they're gonna backstab and screw O' Jug Ears with Hitlery and BJ Bubba hanging around in the shadows.

The Anti Liberal Zone
has several excoriating essays on Odumbo the Jug Eared Clown and Company.

From Eric Gun Grabber Holder to the rest of them.

Click on my handle to check it out. Libs, don't bother, it's a Conservative thing.

Rowly
Notice how clowns like John are telling US how to rebuild our party, what's wrong, etc? They forget that there was NOT a Conservative on the RNC side, it was liberal against liberal-lite.

We'll get Palin/Jindal in 2012 and that will be that, especially after four years of jug ears and his carter/clintonites.

2010 is coming and there is a crop of hard-charging young CONSERVATIVES, many with military service, getting ready. Piglosi, Reid, Turban Durbin, and the rest of the scumbags will get flushed.

John
Let's all talk about the Odumbo Admin about 1 year after your empty suit takes over. I'm betting a lot of your kind won't admit to voting for the Halfrican.

I like his cabinet lineup, a collection of idiots, thugs, morons, crooks, and liars. And getting advice from Sandy Burglar!?

Frigging priceless.

John
Sometimes when you win...you lose.

Rowly
As I said, we don't need to do anything to damage the Republican brand. You guys are doing just fine all by yourself.

Grunting Eagle
You are pretty much too pathetic for words. But, pray continue. Everyday more and more people realize how folk like you have undermined the credibility of the conservative movement.

The Left-Wing At Work
The left has one reason for living. Destroy the opposition. They have won the government. Are they satisfied? Of course not, there are still noises made by the right.

It is not only GW Bush, they want to get rid of. It's the entire republican Party. The lesser parties are not a threat, but the Republicans are,so they must go.

The liberal trolls still must come on these threads to crow. They are so in awe of their 'messiah',they must tell us day in and day out. He has scammed them and they are still so awestruck, they are not even aware of it.

Lefty.
Truth in your own mind.

"If a President of the United States ever lied to the American people he should resign." Bill Clinton in 1974

You must be so proud......

Ivan pull your head out
They didn't attack because the Bush administration, unlike Clinton's, had the intestinal fortitude to take the fight to them. Bill Clinton did nothing and allowed them to attack us at home. I blame the 4000+ deaths on liberals like you, who like the liberals in the 60s, encouraged our enemies because you are too cowardly to face them yourself. Did you know that as a liberal weenie, you will be one of the first that terrorists will go after when they try to take over this country? I guarantee, as a vet, I will fight for myself and my family, but you perverted, lying misguided liberals are on your own to fight your own battles. You won't be able to hide behind your computer. You curse the same people who protect you and your first amendment rights. That shows what a lying hypocrite you are because you have no tolerance for those who oppose you and your perverted lifestyle.

Start with their own home- Congress
They need to clean up their own criminal home, Congress, before they can even look at, much less go after, Bush's administration. There are more crooks and cons in Congress than snowflakes in a blizzard. Most are Dems, so they have no room to speak. Obama is the biggest criminal right now for the fraud he is perpetuating by not releasing his birth certificate. But that is common for Dems for it to be okay with them being criminals, yet they want to prosecute any conservative who just looks like a criminal, without any facts. As a former Democrat who got tired of the special interest lying thugs in the party, I think the whole party needs to be disbanded and it's leadership charged under RICO statutes along with the Union leaders and gays and other special interest groups that bribe them.

Granite E./Ernest..
Granite E:

what did I say about him that ISNT true...
The Clintons has a rare talent for kicking repub/con arse. They fight back hard. that's what I like about them. lmao

Ernest:

All of that stuff about Obama associations was put out there even by Hillary Clinton, the msm even John McCain and Sarah Palin and it the only people it made a difference to are people like yourself: far right wing repubs/cons. I keep telling you guilt by association is a weak argument. tell me why obama is responsible for the acts, ideas or speech of his people he has associated with in the past?

Is that why you are starry eyed?

Clout????

You ignore too many facts about that blithering idiot, and his politically convenient wife....

But then again, lefty votes have always been a popularity contest...and lack substance.

Left Angle
You're partly right. MSM dídn't dig up enough dirt do derail PEBO. You still miss the whole point. MSM failed both parties by not investigating PEBO the same way they did the other candidates. MSM did virtually no reporting on PEBO's associates other than to decry foul on part of conservative media for doing so. Fox News & Hannity both reported on the Rev. Wright a year before MSM even mentioned it.

MSM did no investigation of the cesspool of Chicago machine/ward politics that spawned PEBO's candidacy. MSM bought into PEBO's candidacy with visions of Camelot and sugar plums dancing in their heads. Any of the few negative reports on Obama were usually on page 5 of the classifieds. MSM was virtually the publicity arm of his campaign. When it comes to politics, I no longer believe much, if anything, that ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, NBC, C-SPAN, BBC, PBS, Reuters, AP, NYTs, LA & Washington Post have to say. They've all shucked their journalistic ethics for partisanship.

Set your mind at ease. There is no "ongoing, relentless, overt effort by the left to destroy the Conservative movement in this country."

Why? Because you guys are doing such a bang-up job of destroying yourselves. We don't hardly have to do nuthin.

For example, when you bozos come on this topic and express your everlasting love and devotion to George Bush, all we have to do is say "Yup" and 75% of Americans flip you the bird.

No Accountability
The problem with the Dr. (I doubt it) Douglas's, Robert's, and Tom's of the world, dedicated leftists all, is that when the next terrorist act takes place on our soil, they will simply disappear from these boards. Either just slink back to the sewers within which they thrive OR they will come back in force to blame Bush and Cheney for the attacks.

Even if Obama maintains the same level of defense that Bush established, there will be an attempted terrorist attack. The Islamic Radicals will not be able to resist the opportunities they perceive are being presented to them evidenced by the comments by leftists such as the ignoramuses who now and again swarm onto TH from their lairs at MoveOn, DailyKos and Huffington.

I wish Obama well. I truly believe he wants the very best for our Republic and will go to extremes to defend our people. Yes, he is a Liberal, but I believe far removed from the irrational, radical leftist haters who would destroy our country just to punish those who they resent and/or envy.

It bears repeating...
"No new attacks in seven years-- LET'S BLAME BUSH!!!"

The "Lying" road to victory
This is an ongoing, relentless, overt effort by the left to destroy the Conservative movement in this country, or what's left of it, that is largely successful because the Left knows with a certainty that it can tell lie after lie and distort the truth at every opportunity with absolutely no meaningful consequences. This is not stupidity on their part, it is intentional obfuscation, a strategy that along with the Republican Parties total inability or unwillingness to defend itself and its bedrock, Conservative principles and the long standing, Left leaning bias of the so called MSM has resulted in the unthinkable. We are now standing in quicksand.

I hear you Mr. Limbaugh and I hear your much maligned brother but, sadly, the Conservative message is not getting off first base and the GOP, as it is now constituted, is apparently more interested in bipartisanship and media approval. Where do we go from here?

Grunting Eagle
You do not realize that you are quite making my point.

If such a transgression as fibbing about oral sex is sufficient to cause all those investigations and consequences, then surely the much more serious issues outlined by Conyers are sufficient to generate similar investigations.

If you are so insistent that the Clinton investigations were justified, then you can't possibly agree with Limbaugh.

And it would be appropriate to point out that Clinton was innocent of any of the charges brought in his impeachment hearings. But I know conservatives have always struggled with the whole innocent until proven guilty thing.

Hey ldangle
You kiddin????
Dems follow the Alinsky rules.....Create premise, attack on premise, tear down individual.

The GOP problem is that they are not playing by the Libtard rules.

See in my book lefty, if I were to run for office, I (like the moonpies) would give 2
sh!ts about truth and honor and politically marginalize my opponent..in order to win the election. See goofy? Nothing in there about true issues.....nothing in there about putting the government to work for the people, truth or honor.....well, maybe I might mention it just so the press would report it. But, in my book......marginalize, marginalize, marginalize.....one day the GOP will realize it.

However, I did not say the MSM was leading the charge in trying to make the GOP look bad.
They are hopeless idiots who follow the Libtards around and mindlessly report the partisan pisz. Besides.....the MSM (old) media admitted as much......after the election.

So you are proud of Nancyrexia, Reid, Barney, and all the other useful idiots? If you are for country you will no doubt push to get rid of all the morons in the Dem party......but then again....if you are for dems....you are just for power.......not much else......

Head in the sand
It is a well known fact that an Ostrich's BRAIN is smaller than it's EYE. May be that is why it buries its head in the sand; because whatever it's eye sees cannot be mentally digested by the brain.

All the LIBS and Bush haters posting on this thread are exhibiting the same characteristics as that of an Ostrich.

The issue in Limbaugh's article is the "Bloodlust of the Left" and it is very factual.

By diverting away from it they re-inforce their own state of denial. It was exactly that type of moronic behaviour that allowed the Bolsheviks to overrun and impose Communism on more than half the world.

We shall, unfortunately see and live through the depression debacle that will happen once all the Big Government Tax & Spend policies are in place. These very same people will be clamoring for Bush to come back.

Ohh Leftangle.....
"is that they had such bloodlust to "get" Clinton that their last resort was to dig into his sex life via a lawsuit that by Paula Jones that had died and was reinvigorated and brought back to life/funded via the "vast right wing conspiracy"..that was downright pathetic."

You obviously never got the memo, huh?

2nd to be impeached
1st to have to offer DNA evidence
1st to appear before a grand jury.
1st to be held in contempt of court.
lost his law license for 5 years.
Paid $25,000 in legal fees.
Paid Paula Jones an $850K settlement.

Man......dangle..........you need some shock therapy.....

Right wing conspiracy????
This man was a walking idiot......
albiet a well spoken one that ONCE AGAIN...the media fawned over.

See a pattern????

Opa!
and the cheese goes up in flame.

Clinton was impeached because of a minor personal peccadillo that was used as a trap. Let's put it another way.

Limbaugh doesn't even want investigations of serious civic issues, like torture or unnecesary wars. Republicans thought that investigations of Clinton's personal life were in the public interest.

Limbaugh doesn't want investigations of serious civi issues like violations of the 4th amendment or the manipulation of federal prosecutors.

Republicans thought it was in public interest to investigate a decades old financial deal that had already been investigated three times.

Does that help put it into perspective?

CONYERS--ANOTHER LIBERAL CLOWN!
John Conyers fits right in with the other Black liberal democratic clowns and losers in congress. Think about Cynthia McKinney, Maxine Waters, Charlie Rangel, Shaila Lee Jackson, et. al. Ditto for White liberal clowns like Barney Frank, San Fran Nan, Chris Dodd, etc.
***
Where are those who defend and protect our country? We get traitors and clowns instead of Patriots.
***
Rocketman

Left Angle
You are correct. The Republicans failed to exert proper leadership in Congress. They let the Dems control the agenda for eight yrs. The result is that they were deservedly turned out.

That said, turning out the opposition party is not grounds for investigating it's individual members in hopes of turning up some crime that can be prosecuted. That is called a witchunt and if carried out will lead to revenge prosecutions by Dems who now have unchecked power.

The GOP losing power is not the fault of the MSM. The fact that PEBO was elected is the fault of the MSM because he was their dog in the hunt and they skewered all others. If MSM had done it's job and investigated all candidates equally, say to the depth that they investigated Sarah Palin, PEBO would not have made it past Iowa. The nation would have been alerted to PEBO's close associations with Frank Davis, William Ayers, Bernadine Dorn, Rev. Wright, and Tony Reszko and PEBO's campaign would have been dead in the water. Hillary Clinton, in all likelihood, been the Democrat candidate for POTUS and probably would have won.

Your point is well taken but I might add that if you are as snotty in person as you are online, you must have a short list of friends.

A liberal reviews the Bush Record
1. No successful domestic terrorist attacks since 09/12/2001
2. Over 32 million Afghani citizens freed
3. Liberated 28 million Iraqi citizens
4. Turned the tide of HIV/AIDS in Africa

In short; a dismal failure!

silas Jan 16, 2009 - 9:51 AM EST
"Conyers is a excellent example why we desperately need a limit on the amount of times a guy can run for office."
*******************
Silas, I think you are onto something. We currently have a system of 'term limits' via the election process.

HOWEVER, limiting the number of times one can RUN for a particular office is a different kettle of fish, IMO.

Thanx for something to think about.

Granite Eagle: Conslidation of Power
and embarrasment of the opposing power?

you saying repus/cons are NOT about those things?

You have got to be kidding, sir. either you are naive or incredibly ignorant to the political process..

I hate hearing grown men whine..You repubs had control of the white house AND congress for 6 of the last 8 years and when you had the power
you didnt have the foggiest notion of HOW TO GOVERN IN WHICH YOU FAILED AND GOT TURNED OUT BY THE MAJORITY OF THE AMERICAN PUBLIC..And you blame that on the so-called msm and the dems?
You shot you ownselves in the foot with incompetence and thats why you are now THE MINORITY.

I dont have one doubt in my mind that dems will be highly successful in putting this great country of ours BACK ON THE RIGHT TRACK, JACK!!LOL

Enjoy being the MINORITY for the time being...
You EARNED IT. LOL

Oh come on, now...
Clinton was impeached by the House for perjury, (lying about cheating on his wife, like all men don't lie about that) but the Senate acquitted him, so in essence he was not formally impeached which is why he finished his term in office.

Now, how do all of us of the saintly right justify not proceeding with criminal proceedings to show the rest of the world that we the people of the United States of America hold lying about torture, committing torture, and extreme rendition in contempt more than we hold in contempt perjury about an extramarital affair?

Nee

Let me lay out the reality for you. I know it will conflict with your blindly partisan view of the world, but you will have to grow up sometime.

Iran Contra was a serious problem! Numerous felony convictions resulted from that investigation, and only stonewalling by the Reagan administration kept that number as low as it was. The Reagan administration sold advanced weapons to Iran! If the Obama administraiton were to sell arms to Iran next week, would you be all happy about it? No, you would be crying "treason".

The issues brought up by Conyers are serious issues. They involve serious civic and historical questions.

The Clinton impeachment was a pathetic and partisan effort. It was about an insignificant sexual peccadillo, regardless of what the formal charges were. Conservatives consider THAT a serious issue, which shows how simple minded and petty you people are.

By all means ignore the serious stuff and focus on the insignificant. That's the way to run a country.

luckymick
Hey, Luckymick.

Don't be so hard on Detroit....it is afterall been free from Republican Leadership for about 35+ years now. So everything is peachy down there.......a veritable utopia with a "slight" murder problem.

Seriously though...the residents of Michigan are in secret negotiations to sell Detroit to Canada.......unfortunately we would have to pay to have Canada take it off our hands.......

And......our state idiot in Chief, the silly canuck granholm.......she is still blaming Bush for all her problems........
Nevermind a lack of energy policy that allowed oil prices to spike and tank the auto industry....
Nevermind that silly Barney "gimme your" Frank championed the biggest liberal failure in the last 60 years.........by allowing people who cannot afford homes to purchase them by offering up a "stated" income. Brilliant Barney!!!

Bush....bad.....like clockwork........

How to know a Leftist Liberal
They open their mouths.

To John.
Clinton was impeached for perjury, among other things. Not sex. Look it up.

Just like islamofacists
Its no secret that the islamofacist cult wants to humiliate and shame the US. No matter how...they want to see the US suffer on the world stage.

Its no secret that the libtards want to see Republicans humiliated and shamed on the US stage. (democrats live in the stench of shame, so its nothing new for them)

Not much of a difference.........

One of you goofy sh!ts put it succintly.....its all about consolidation of power. Well, congratulations, sniveling fools, you are in power......lets see if you use it for the betterment of the country......

Wait! Wait!
The very same John Conyers that "represents" sections of Detroit/Dearborn, MI!?

Detroit had been democratized down to an empty pit economically. Until Conyers can turn around the condition of his constituents, he has no credibility to comment on anything at the domestic/international level.

Let's see him put his BDS passion into turning around the economic crater that the Detroit metropolitan area has become.

Another jive-hustler liberal. Afraid to take on the tuff challenges... not afraid to spot his discredited mouth off...

Bush
"He has the gall to question the techniques and practices that have kept us safe for the last eight years"

I know of about 3,000 people who would disagree with that if they were still alive.

John you are
An idiot extraordinaire. You see, Clinton was not impeached for a little 69, no. He was impeached for lying under oath, dumbasss. Anyone with morals had a right to be pisssed that Billy Jeff abused the power and the office of President and cheated on his wife and then actually lied to the public as well.
What kind of example is that as PResident, I ask you?
The COW is just as guilty. His mistress has been banned to an island and may have a love child and nobody cares because the Messiah will come and save you all from reality as you know it by taxing the hell out of you and make you like it. You go, boy if yu like giving up your money for ridiculous programs that have nothing to do with the PEOPLE. Go ahead. I will still be around to say I told you so.

Blood lust of avenging left
John Conyers is and always has been a total incompetent. You saw this from when he defended Clinton through all of his scandals. Someone might want to explain to the American public how this man gets a pay check. He has the gall to question the techniques and practices that have kept us safe for the last eight years. He never questioned the practices of his former boss who, while our soldiers were being dragged through the streets of Somalia and Americans were being blown up all over the world, Clinton did nothing. I guess he was to busy with Monica....

Left Angle
And when Ronald Reagan was president, who started that? total cost of all=90,000,000!

Hahaha
"If it were such an abuse of executive power, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court of Review wouldn't have reaffirmed that the president has inherent constitutional authority to monitor these international communications without permission from the court."

Correct. But the court's ruling had nothing whatsoever to do with whether Bush acted legally or properly when he ordered warrantless eavesdropping on Americans from 2001-2006, when warrantless eavesdropping was a felony under FISA. It was a ruling on whether the warrantless eavesdropping which Congress authorized in the 2007 Protect America Act was prohibited by the Fourth Amendment's warrant requirement. Note the "Congress authorized" part? You are really pitiful at trying to cover Bush's butt. But hey, don't let facts get in your way! Your readers apparently don't mind having court orders taken out of context, but God sure does.

A Million Thank You's Mr. Bush!!
Thank you thank you a million times I thank you, President Bush, for keeping us safe!!!

Same old schtick
We’ve already seen this movie. During the Reagan years, the Iran-contra conspirators violated the Constitution in the name of national security. But the first President Bush pardoned the major malefactors, and when the White House finally changed hands the political and media establishment gave Bill Clinton the same advice it’s giving Mr. Obama: let sleeping scandals lie. Sure enough, the second Bush administration picked up right where the Iran-contra conspirators left off — which isn’t too surprising when you bear in mind that Mr. Bush actually hired some of those conspirators.

Please - give us a break!
"On Tuesday, House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers issued a 500-page report, whose executive summary boasts "was drafted to itemize and document the various abuses that occurred during the Bush Administration." The report recommends "that the new Administration conduct an independent criminal inquiry into whether any laws were broken in connection with these activities."

If this had been Bill Clinton, he not only would have been impeached, the Senate would have found him guilty at his trial. Bush should have been long gone way back when, but the repugs and the spineless Dems wouldn't do their duty. Your diatribe is a big kettle calling the pot black. Spare us!

Anne-IceDog-Others
President Bush’s Approval Ratings are up 50% in 1 WEEK!

The Approval Rating of the Libtard Congress is holding steady in the low Double Digits.

How much better can it get?!?!?!?! The Moronic. Imbecilic, Cretinous, Liberals are GREASING THEIR OWN SKIDS!

LAMO! HIC!

Now This Is Funny!

Democrats want an investigation of Bush in regard to very serious issues. Misuse of intelligence resulting in disastrous military adventurism. Serious questions as to whether the USA engages in torture. Serious questions about abuses of 4th amendment rights. Serious issues in regard abuses of power in regard to the tasking of federal prosecutors.

Limbaugh considers this blood lust.

Republicans impeached a sitting President over a blow job.

Limbaugh considers this patriotic.

No wonder no one takes his wing of the party seriously anymore.

Left Angle

Tell us, where are the investigations concerning the criminal acts of Frank,Pelosi,Reid,Rangel and the treasonist acts by the likes of Murtha?

Just tell us dude--where in the hell are they?

These B**t**ds have spent 7 &1/2 yrs of doing nothing but bashing President Bush whilr the crooked Jug eared clown gets ma free pass from them and the ObamaMedia...tell us?

The leaders of the left...
and all their blind mice minions will do everything they can to prosecute everyone they can, and make it criminal to have any view but the one they hold. Scary, maddening, frustrating, and totally unacceptable. The left is so hypocritical it is beyond belief. They are so blinded by ideology that facts, real logic and unintended consequences are ignored. I have to leave this site for a while after reading some of the total brain-dead, stupid, twisted, and frustrating comments spewed by leftist posters. It does no good to argue with them or point out the error of their "logic", "facts" or "beliefs" because ideology trumps everything else, and the "facts" they choose to believe are irrefutatble in their eyes. What really frustrates me is the number of people who listen to every word of the crap spewed on TV "news" by self serving leftist politicians and take it for fact.
CR@P! It is all CR@P!!!

In 1984, new convention held in U.S.
During the Reagan years, the holiest GOP years, the U.S. sat down with U.N. nations and re-ratified the Conventions...

Then in 1984, the UN Convention Against Torture became the first binding international instrument dealing exclusively with the issue of banning torture in any form for any reason. These are sacred international laws all signatories, that include the US, are bound by.

This country tried to impeach an American president for lying about an affair...yet this country now wants to offer forgiveness to an American president who lied about this country torturing people. He looked right at us and said "The U.S. does not condone torture", yet in October 2006, our President pushed through the The October, 2006 Military Commissions Act, appropriately called the "torture authorization act." It gives the administration extraordinary unconstitutional powers to detain, interrogate and prosecute alleged terror suspects and anyone thought to be their supporters. The law lets the president designate anyone in the world an "unlawful enemy combatant," without corroborating evidence, and order they be arrested and incarcerated indefinitely in military prisons outside the criminal justice system without habeas and due process rights. US citizens aren't exempt. We're all "enemy combatants" under this law. Anyone charged under it loses all constitutionally protected rights and can be subjected to cruel and unusual punishment including torture.

It should not be just Liberals who condemn the unconstitutional acts of this government, it should be all of us. What is wrong with this party that the only Civil Liberties that matter are the ones that protect just members of it's own party.

Compassion
I thought the Democrat's were full of compassion, mercy and forgiveness. Many of them seem to be really good at hatred.
Donald W. Bales

Liberals are so
brain dead that they can't see totalitarianism, aka US Democratic Congress, when it is staring them right in the face

What's more, they don't even care if our country is taken over by Islamic Radicals just so the EU thinks warm and fuzzy thoughts about us.

Only if Islamofascists take over the country and cancel American Idol will any of them start to protest.

It's not about payback...
Someone once said that if you are told "It's not about the money", the one thing about which you can be absolutely sure is it is most certainly about the money.

So, when Conyers states that his purpose "is not payback", the one thing about which we can all be certain is that it is most definitely payback.

Conyers has been a serial whiner since the day he entered congress over 40 years ago. How effective has he been? Ask the poor bastards in Detroit, whom he assumes to represent.

DavidM: Check this out
"Exposing Bush's Historic Abuse of Power"

http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2008/07/23/new_churchcomm /

No Quarter!
Let's not treat these Muslim fanatics with Mickey Mouse tactics any more. If we can't bring them to Gitmo and don't want to bring them to the U.S. because we don't want to grant them rights of U.S. citizens, my solution: Just shoot them on the battlefield. Jihadists give no quarter so we shouldn't either.

TOROYINOSLO
I can't believe that anyone is as stupid as you. The Terrorists don't give a damn about principles--they only want to kill Jews and anyone who views this as genocide. Check with England, France, and other Western nations that are about to go under the title wave of Muslim autocracy. They don't negotiate in good faith and only see Obama as a weak person who thinks that his chrisma will solve all world problems---won't happen--10% unemployment in two years, a weakened military, and zero prestige increase in the world. Grow up.

Term Limits
Take your pick Waters, Conyers, Jackson-Lee, and the list goes on why there must be term limits. Pelosi, Boxer, Reid, are just three more examples.

Sparingly used torture, oh ok
See Part 1, Article 2 of the Geneva Conventions as interpreted by the U.S. Govt:

1. Each State Party shall take effective legislative, administrative, judicial or other measures to prevent acts of torture in any territory under its jurisdiction.
2. No exceptional circumstances whatsoever, whether a state of war or a threat or war, internal political instability or any other public emergency, may be invoked as a justification of torture.
3. An order from a superior officer or a public authority may not be invoked as a justification of torture.

Nice to know that this party is ok with upholding the law whenever it suits them. And before everyone here starts using their favorite insult of calling my remarks Liberal, think again. Republicans are supposed to stand up for the Constitution and the Law.

Article 4 says....

1. Each State Party shall ensure that all acts of torture are offences under its criminal law. The same shall apply to an attempt to commit torture and to an act by any person which constitutes complicity or participation in torture.
2. Each State Party shall make these offences punishable by appropriate penalties which take into account their grave nature.

According to this administrations actions and words, the U.S. has no responsibility to follow International law. We Are The Law!!!!!

davidM: you affraid of an investigation?
I say let Rep. Conyers congressional criminal investigation go forward of the Bush-Cheney administrations abuses. It's no vendetta, its called congressional oversight, obviously something you and mr. limbuagh dont believe applies to republican administrations.

let's put all the cards on the table and let the chips fall where they may or in your book t would that be the "unpatriotic anti-american thing to do which would aid and abett our enemies"? you tell me.

Left Angle
Please provide a solid example of the excesses of power by Bush/Cheney.

Don't mention FISA: it was struck down as needing Congressional approval *which was granted in 2007 by Democratic Congress*. Obama voted for it and has not vowed to end it either.

Bush didn't condone Abu Gharib-on the contrary we prosecuted the military personnel who committed wrongdoings.

Please do back up your ridiculous canards for us.

Excellent Example
Conyers is a excellent example why we desperately need a limit on the amount of times a guy can run for office.

Liberals Hate America
Libs always get their panties twisted in an uproar when they are accused of being "unpatriotic" or accused of being anti-American.

However, there is one question they can never answer...if liberal leaders don't hate their country and aren't trying to destroy it, what would they do differently if they were?

No Oversight, Mr. Limbaugh?
Apparently Mr. Limbaugh believes that when a Republican are in the White House and control Congress they have unfettered authority to do whatever the heck they want to do if the country is at war or otherwise as long as the means accomplishes the end, lawful or otherwise and dissenters, critics or those observing the process for irregularities should just shut the
heck up because they are anti-americans who are aiding and abetting the enemy.

Havent we heard these weak arguments before from the bushites who tried mightily to cut off any dissenting opinions on the Iraq/Afghan Wars
by questioning the patriotism of those who did so.

There is no question that abuses of power were going on and being perpetrated by the Bush-Cheney administration during this period and an investigation is warranted. Without a doubt they came to beleive that the law did not apply to them and they were above it as long as they accomplished their goals of making the U.S. "safer". Emperors Bush and Cheney were sadly mistaken. Congressional oversight is most definitely part of the process to prevent such abuses of power. Deal with it Mr. Limbaugh.

Oh, Dr. Douglas
Ann Coulter is still smarter than you, and so is the entire Limbaugh clan.

Conyers and guys like him
are Al Qaida allies.

They actively give aid and comfort to the enemies of the United States of America. The US Constitution states it clearly:

Section 3
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against
them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person
shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the
same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

The Congress shall have power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no
Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except
during the Life of the Person attainted.

Message to Tom (Dumb) Dr. Douglas
(Dumber) and Robert (Stupid)

The only major impact a president can have on the economy is by keeping taxes low to stimulate growth and let free markets work.

For the record, the first six years of Bush's tenure saw steady and robust growth. Then came the infamous banking collapse with the Fannie Mae debacle whereby Bush raised the bravo flag in '06 by seeking an investigation into the lending practices of this institution only to be torpedoed by political hacks like Barney Frank, Christoper Dodd and Charlie Rangel who proclaimed that Fannie Mae was in good shape, there wasn't any problem, and leave it alone.
YEAH, RIGHT.

Oh, and by the way, there haven't been any attacks on the American homeland since 9/11.

The Coming Presidency
will be a disaster. Count on it. Unfortunately, we will ALL suffer for years to come, including our children and grandchildren.

Time (and sooner than you think) will bear that out.

Goofy as Rush
Since no one (of note) in the military-Industrial-Politi cal complex was held accountable for Vietnam, that allowed Iran-Contra and Iraq to occur.
When Rummy was Sec.of D. and had Cheney reporting to him under President Ford, they ended all investigations into war crimes. The cost, trade-off? The Repubs ended the draft starting under Ford and embraced by President Carter.
Hearing are required, trials if necessary. Don't you believe in Law&Order, like Nixon shopped?

Such hate & nastiness ...
Such hate & nastiness comes from too many Dumbocrats. It is so sickening! However, what goes around, comes around! Someday, perhaps soon, it will bite the Dumbocrats in the butt. Then maybe we will get the good, old Democratic party back!

Panties are not torture
Oh yeah, Al Qaeda is gonna be real scared of principled efforts. They'll just see it as weakness and take advantage once again.

BTW, Clinton was not impeached for having an affair.
He was impeached for LYING UNDER OATH in a case where he was being sued for sexual harassment.

And the Gitmo prisoners had no Geneva rights until Bush stupidly gave them to them. They should have been summarily executed for being non uniformed combatants.

If Bush is smart he'll issue blanket pardons for himself and everyone else in his administration to avoid witch hunts like this one. Although, I don't think he has the balls to do it.

Michigan --Economic Basket Case
Conyers is from Michigan -- correct? No wonder Michigan is an Economic Disaster when its citizens keep electing political hacks like Conyers, whats her name as Governor and others like them.

A Warning to our Foes??
...That we'll punish anyone who deals with them too harshly? How stupid are these people? Never mind, don't even answer. I know how stupid they are. All I can hope is that the next terrorist attack hits them and not me.

Going after Nixon also abuse of power?
"Al Quaida is shaking in their boots." A little exaggerated, doncha think? They should be nervous that the US is being led by a man who will lead a united effort driven by principles of civilized nations as expressed by the Geneva Conventions, thus complicating the enemy's efforts to recruit terrorists and sympathizers of radical Islam. You're not that far off though. Life for the leaders of terror gets tougher when the divisive Bushites are held accountable for their crimes.

Propaganda reigns supreme
Look at these leftys as if they are all ok. Just
with osamas cabinet we have had a Treasue Sec not paying taxes, oh he just made a mistake.
Dem Gov. selling a senate seat, and a Dem congress seating his appointment. An attorney general who got a pardon for a fleeing criminal,
just a mistake, sec of state whose husband recives millions from Arabs. A homeland security sec who is a card carrying socialist.
They are without a doubt the worst of hippocrites. My GOd Are you so shallow, your country is in a downward spiral wake up.

John Conyers

item 1. Conyers is a political hack.

item 2. Conyers should be impeached because he has failed to lie up to his oath to protect the Constitution of the United States.

item 3 Conyers is part of and representative of the most CORRUPT body in the UNITED STATES. Perhaps he should be tried and jailed.

item 4. His word, his oath is just worthless, valueless and apparently so is he.

It's a recipe for a one term Obama
If they try to indict over these frivolous charges, public opinion will turn against them. That will not help them at the polls next time around.

Limbaugh is correct: "How ironic that

the gravamen of each complaint is an alleged abuse of power while its recommended remedy would constitute a worse abuse (the criminalization of policy differences), especially considering the weakness of the complaints."

Unfortunately, no one can accuse the left, as a whole, of having any discernible intellect or logic.

Very excellent column, David
What the loony lefties better realize, they won't always be in charge. IF we ever elect people in opposition to THEM (not necessarily repubs) then we could prosecute all of their bad actors, and with the dhimms, there's always a surplus of corrupt, criminal crum bums.

David NAILS them by calling them out for what they're really doing; criminalizing policy differences. That's Stalinist, and mini-tyrants like Red Nancy and Dingy Hairy Reed will eventually pay for their abuse of power, hopefully in this life.

When in the course of human events..... I'm up for shutting down DC altogether and locking up the entire Congress at the newly vacant Club Gitmo. They pose a greater danger to the republic than the much diminished Islam-o-facists - thank you Pres. Bush.

Tom, Dr Douglas and Robert
Ignorance is curable but stupid isn't. While both parties pander to get elected, the libs are much better at it and apparently more than half of us (you included) seem to think it OK to live off the fruit of other 's labor. If you hate America so much why aren't you flocking to Europe. If you decide to stay, create some wealth instead of usurp it. I'd bet all three of you are union members.

Why they do it
The commenter who said that "it's what they do" has it right. Of course, WHY they do it is also of interest.

Left-liberals in leadership positions do it because it's one of the most reliable tactics for cowing the opposition. Win, lose, or draw, fighting a legal action costs heavily in money and morale.

Left-liberal activists do it because their psyches are bound up with their Causes. ( http://www.eternityroad.info/index.php/weblog/single/cause _people ) Their emotional addiction to Cause-centered "relevance" makes them view a threat to their Cause as a threat to them personally, which must be fought even more resolutely than a physical assault.

Private citizens of left-liberal views merely accept what they're told. It's easier on the convolutions, and conforms with the bilge from their televisions and their regional newspapers.

In closing, consider this, from Benjamin Hellie, a philosophy professor at Cornell:

"But left- and right-wing sources are not symmetrical. The goal of the right wing is to perpetuate and worsen a system in which a small number of people control obscene quantities of wealth and power at the expense of the vast majority, whereas the goal of the left wing is to distribute wealth and power more broadly. For short, the goal of the right wing is perpetuating and increasing injustice, whereas the goal of the left wing is increasing justice....

"By contrast, the role of left-wing political writers is to cause people to believe that there is injustice, and that right-wing policies make it worse. Given, once again, that both these points are true, all that left wing political writers need to do is report the truth."

(Source: http://wilsonhellie.typepad.com/for_the_record/2004/01/som e_epistemolo.html )

All of that is, of course, a major left-liberal premise. It's well established that you can't argue a man out of his premises. Where do we begin?

Its just what they do
Bears poop in the woods
Woodpeckers tap tap on wood
Girls like chocholate
The fastes growing fish, got away.
And liberals are vicious, self-reighteous, vengeful, arrogant, self-made gods, who go bonkers when they can't control everybody.

Just to set the record straight
" Bush is responsible hundreds of thousands of deaths,"

Lie.

"lying us into an illegal war,"

Lie.

"destroying our moral status through torture and rendition,"

Lie.

"destroying the economy (among many other crimes)"

Lie (and insanely stupid statement).

Furthermore...

In wartime, previous administrations have exiled opposition politicians to enemy territory, used the US military to shut down dissenting media outlets, suspended habeas corpus, had the US military fire on "rioters" against the "war effort" with artillery and machine guns, and used blockades, sieges and scorched-earth tactics to starve "the enemy," including women and children.

They have executed US citizens after a military tribunal, interned US citizens based on ancestry, formed Offices of Censorship to censor all US communication, allied with dictatorships that had the blood of millions on their hands, and leveled civilian population centers with conventional high-explosive bombs, incendiaries, and (his successor) nukes.

No one tried Lincoln or FDR for "war crimes," though you can certainly find people who think they should have been, including on these boards.

By the measure of anyone less delusional than "Dr" Douglas and Robert "Ranger" 29, this administration has been a model of restraint in both restricting American liberty and prosecuting a war effort. But then, anyone who rants about the "right wing media" is too far gone to recognize this, let alone admit it.

Wake Up
The entire Political System from both Parties is so corrupt it will take the terrorist that are here now , no time to get rid of all of them and Start new.. When do We The People stand up to all of these corrupted idiots in DC and make them all accoutable. They are selling out our future with their self rightous BS. Until We The People stop being We The Idiots this country will be no longer the once Proud Nation . This country is so full of crying cowards that they think they don't have to do anything to protect our Rights and Freedoms Our Grandparents and Parents sacrificed so much for our Freedoms to let so few destroy what was given to us. God Help Us !

Bloodlust??? What a joke

This is one stupid article.

Conyers has enough integrity to speak up. But as for bloodlust, the rest of the democrats and the right=biased meda are completely letting Bush off the hook.

This column is so incredibly dishonest. The republicans hacked and hacked away at Clinton for seven years until they finally got him for a silly affair. That was out of control bloodlust. And yet Bush is responsible hundreds of thousands of deaths, lying us into an illegal war, destroying our moral status through torture and rendition, and destroying the economy (among many other crimes). Yes there are people on the left who think Bush should be held accountable, but the democrats in power will never do this. There is no bloodlust.

By the way, isn't it the republicans who always brag about their personal accountability and responsibility. I guess this doesn't count when it's them.

Dumber than Rush
Obviously, poor David made his comments about torture before someone told him what came out of Gitmo about the infamous 20th member of the 9/11 terrorists: "We tortured him."

Now it would be convenient for the Bush deniers to be able to rant about this being another plot or dream of the ever evil libs and Dems...but alas, this declaration came from Bush's own Gitmo appointee in charge of deciding who goes to trial.

Sadly, we now possibly can't put on trial the only real member of the 9/11 team that we have ever captured. Nice job George and Dick!

No Fair Shake
No Republican will get a fair shake in the mainstream media.

The leftward bias is appalling.
