Bipartisanship: For the Common Good?

Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Many say that now that Barack Obama has been elected, we should all work together for the common good. That sounds wonderful until you realize that we don't all agree on what is the common good.

Notice I don't take the position that Republicans should refuse to cooperate with Mr. Obama because Democrats have been indescribably partisan, cruel and unfair to President Bush for the past eight years. Those are certainly grounds to call them hypocrites, but we must always put the best interests of the nation above petty partisanship -- obviously.

So we must ask: Would it be in the best interest of the nation for Republicans to work with Barack Obama?

The only sensible answer is: It depends on what policies Obama pursues. As much as people want to believe that getting along is the highest good, there are many more important things.

If Democrats were being honest, they would agree with that statement. Otherwise, they owe us an explanation as to why they opposed President Bush at every turn. Could it be they think their ideas on Iraq, the war on terror, education, stem cell research, judges, the environment, immigration and the rest are more important to them than simply getting along? I thought so.

And while certain conservative "intellectuals" have anesthetized or deluded themselves with feel-good platitudes, I daresay that camaraderie in furtherance of policies that could permanently erode our liberties is hardly for the common good.

Yet with Obama's rash of Clinton-era appointments, these conservative elites are already feeling vindicated in their stated hope that Obama is not a leftist who would govern in accordance with his decidedly liberal record.

But as I anticipate the Obama presidency, I'm -- surprise, surprise -- far less sanguine. To the extent that Obama charts a course toward preserving our liberties and prosperity, I'll be more than happy to support him. To the extent that he does not, I have a duty to oppose him, for which I do not apologize.

Based on his campaign and everything I've been able to glean from his available records, I believe Obama would:

--Shut down Guantanamo Bay and otherwise make life much easier for our terrorist enemies and others who want to destroy the United States and Israel.

--Fill any Supreme Court and lower court vacancies with liberal activist judges whose decisions would further imperil our constitutional integrity.

--Promote a culture that, notwithstanding the embarrassing denials of such previously stalwart life proponents as Doug Kmiec, would be hostile to the lives of the innocent unborn.

--Initiate a stimulus package that would equal or exceed the $700 billion government "bailout" package, the sheer magnitude of which is still sending shock waves into America's free-market soul. This, despite the liberals' castigation of President Bush for eight years for fiscal irresponsibility.

--Further open the floodgates to illegal immigration, with the purpose of expanding another Democratic constituency and with utter disregard for the rule of law and whether immigrants assimilate into the unique American culture or learn the English language and American civics.

--Seek to implement endless Draconian measures to satisfy the global warming cult, whose blind faith to their secular religion blinds them -- ironically -- to real science and whose ideology makes them indifferent, at best, to the disastrous economic and freedom-zapping consequences that would ensue.

--Pour even more federal money into and demand more federal control over education, consistent with the liberal policy goals of the National Education Association, which are demonstrably aimed at indoctrination, at the expense of academic excellence.

--Continue to oppose school vouchers, to the disproportionate detriment of inner-city minority children.

--Withdraw our troops from Iraq, even against the advice of generals on the ground, jeopardizing our almost consummated victory, the independence and freedom of the Iraqi people, and possibly rendering vain the noble deaths there of American and Iraqi soldiers.

--Impose some form of nationalized health care, which would inevitably destroy, despite its many problems, the best system of health care in the world.

--Implement a cookie-cutter Iraq-type surge in Afghanistan when -- as former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld's op-ed in The New York Times makes clear -- such a course could embroil us in a devastating quagmire.

--Re-sign into law the Censorship Doctrine, otherwise mislabeled the "Fairness Doctrine," with the unhidden purpose of silencing conservative talk radio critics.

We live in very dangerous times. Many of these policies would be very difficult, if not impossible, to reverse and could forever change America.

I ask those of you who place such a high priority on bipartisanship and collegiality: If Obama pursues the course outlined here, should we help him to be "successful" in those pursuits?

Please sign 2 petitions—Obama citizen?

I know this is off topic but....

World Net Daily created a petition last week to force Barack Obama to provide an original birth certificate that he was actually born in Hawaii. His African grandmother says she was present at his birth in Kenya. If that’s true, it is illegal for him to have run for the presidency. We as U.S. citizens are required to provide our original birth certificate to get a Social Security card, a driver’s license or a passport. So he should have been required to produce the same to have run for the presidency.

Janet Folger Porter of Faith2Action has written 2 short outstanding columns about this matter, arguing America must follow the Constitution. This must be done before the Electoral College votes on December 15 to confirm Obama’s presidency.

Also, Justice Thomas of the U.S. Supreme Court has scheduled the matter of Constitutional review of Obama's birth certificate for discussion in the Supreme Court on December 5.

Ranger29
You have got to be one of the most stupid idiots on earth. You make some of the most ridiculous statements I have ever seen. One smart move after another. One smart move after another. Sure Clinton people, corrupt Chicago machine politicians, and liberal academics.

Ranger29 = K-Park
They are both leftist moles installed here to distract us and diffuse constructive conversation. Engage them at your, and Townhalls', peril. The ranger guy is kind of funny, in an accidental sort of way, but he is rot to intelligent discourse just the same.

It's like this: Rush talking sense and taking calls from intelligent folks = enjoyable, forward, thoughtful entertainment / Mike DeadCred taking calls from moronic leftists and conspiracy buffoons exclusively = the unbearable experience of watching a "conservative" spiral into the depths of, McCain-like, appologetics and appeasement for the sake of showing the enemy he is "one of the 'good ones'"(see Jack Kemp). Otherwise known as being lame.

Don't be a "Lame-o", just say "NO!" to fake libs and other subversives.

Bi-partisan is not a GOP problem

Bi-partisanship is not really a problem for the GOP. They were perfectly willing to work with Bill Clinton to control spending, reform welfare, and reduce government waste.

If Obama wants to reduce spending, cut government waste, reform social security and improve healthcare he will get GOP support.

His biggest problem is going to be the Liberals.

But then, Liberals are a problem for any President. They don't put America First.

any intelligent beeings round here?
Conservatives here present a weired, psychotic discussion! please try to understand: america just found the last exit before the complete diseaster (McCain/Palin-Freakshow) and elected an intelligent, integer person as next president.
The whole world is amazed and relieved that you got the turn, leaving at least a tiny choice that things get better. The only ones, who don´t realize this are some incurable repubs, ultra rightwings nerds, biblical fundamentalists, rednecks or whatever freaks presented themselves in this blog.
God bless america and help you to rebuild your country. You need it!

Did I get "on the move "on site?
The ammount of hate and stupid nonsense is huge.
Give up your brain washed hate of Bush, he will be gone in weeks. Many of the dems you have in DC are the same that voted for the war. IF Bush lied so did all the folks that are controling DC now. That is the lie. Reach across the aisle is nonsense. Chuchill said "Compromis is a lack of leadership". The only change you are going to get is your money from your pocket to theirs. Practice your salute

Bury Obama
"Would it be in the best interest of the nation for Republicans to work with Barack Obama?"

No, the best interest of the nation is to oppose Obama. Let's never forget where Obama came from -- corrupt Chicago politics. And don't forget, every nutjob in town came tumbling out of his closet despite the media's best efforts to ignore these lunatics. Obama's big claim to fame was to plop himself in a racist, anti-American church and learn black liberation theology under none other than his hand picked spiritual advisor, Wright.

Obama needed to be prevented from being elected. Now that the American people were too dumb to achieve that, the effort needs to be made to fight Obama from the get-go and never let up. If the Republicans go on an all out attack against this wacko they can regain Congress in 2010.

Roach29
"Obama is a making one smart move
after another."

With an IQ in single digits, you even think that when Obama defecates it is a smart move.

For a smart move I would suggestion Obama to move to Guyana and take his cult with him. And we will be glad to supply a stimulus package of grape kool aid for all of you lunatics. Let history repeat itself, 30 years later.

Bi-partisanship?
Obama doesn't want bi-partisanship. If he did he wouldn't be spening so much money and sending so may of his goons to Georgia to steal another senate seat. Why is it so important to have a filibuster proof senate if he wants bi-partisanship? Sounds to me like he wants a dictatorship instead.

Duty Demands Like Action
David, you make an excellent case here for giving Obama, his administration and the Democrat-dominated Congress the same bi-partisan cooperation they extended to Bush for the past eight years.
Obama could not even admit until pinned down by O’Reilly that the surge in Iraq had worked beyond his expectations. Lib Dems still cannot admit that Bush, his policies and programs have precluded another 9/11 or worse and greatly reduced the number and effectiveness of Islamic jihadist attacks on US people, facilities and interests worldwide by taking the fight to them and concentrating them in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Bush has seen properly to the first priority of any legitimate government – national defense and protection of the nation and its people. Nothing else matters if the nation and its people cannot be protected.
For eight years Lib Dems have obstructed, bashed, initiated wasteful investigations, and done and said things aiding, abetting, supporting and apologizing for the Islamic jihadists determined to take over the world for Allah. We are duty bound therefore to confront Obama and the Democrats when we disagree with their policies, programs and actions.

Good article
David...All of a sudden we should play nice? Yes we should always play fair but now that an empty suit black man [intelligent 'integer' as per Gregor?] has stolen the election, we should absolutely be bi-partisan? If he weren't black he would never have been elected to anything. His Cabinet posts tell the story. His handlers are telling him exactly what to say and do while he goes off to the gym to have a cigarette. Sorry, but the truth hurts.

Explain how
>Islamic jihadists determined to take over the world for Allah.<

It boggles the mind that any sane person thinks that is a realistic scenario. Islamic jihadists can't even organize well enough to effectively run any nation in the world, much less take over the world.

I suggest you examine China and Russia as legitimate military adversaries, although neither of these nations, by themselves, has the means to take over the world, nor do they necessarily have that as a goal.

The reality is that no entity, be it the United States, China, Russia, Islamic jihadists or Iceland can or will ever be able to take over the world. If you re-examine your statement, you'll find it to be a moronic soundbite that actually distracts from any reality-based discussion of national security.

Birdman II
Yeah, it is about time for Ranger29 to get to Wal-Mart and climb aboard Jay-Jay The Jet Plane. Hopefully he has enough quarters to keep him occupied for the morning.

LOL

Bipartisan Peril
You can see how "bipartisan" deals are made: auto execs and unions, slipping under the same satin sheets. Now that they've finished whatever they were doing under the covers, they want the taxpayer to make it a threesome.

Both parties seem incapable of letting them sleep in the bed they made. Somehow, we're supposed to be responsible for their bad decisions.

My advice for a bipartisan bailout of the auto industry? Start a new company with the money that they were planning to burden us - the taxpayers - with for the forseeable future.

Let the unions and the executives fill out a job application. In a right-to-work state.

What good did it do
for Bush to start off in office trying mightily to be bi-partisan. What followed is 8 years of character assassination and political maneuvering all the while aided and abetted by the press who made sure only negatives about Bush were printed. Then, the press routinely took a poll showing the public disapproved of him.

Bi-partisanship would appear to be ineffective unless the republican party rubber stamps everything the democrat party wants. We are not about to do that.

loco
EXACTLY!

I stated back in 2001 that Bush should FIRE every Clinton appointee as they would sabotage his administration just like they are already doing to Obama!

Fairness Doctorine
For now,we have a new President-elect.In the spirit of reaching across the aisle,we owe it to the Democrats to show their President the exact same kind of respect and loyalty that they have shown our recent Republican President.

Guided by hate
Limbaugh has it right. Obama deserves an opportunity to govern with support of conservatives in areas where he shows centrist policies intended to move the country forward.
As Larry Kudlow states in another TH article today:

>In fact, there is no question that Obama’s economic team is right of center.<

Being guided by hate is not a conservative principle that I'm familiar with, but it appears to be a popular position with radicals masquerading as conservatives.

Rumsfeld??
You're listening to his advice on Afghanistan. Even MacCain said he was incompetent.

Warning
One of Obama's recent proposals of Keep Busy work funded by the Federal Government is is to increase the infrastructure of DSL and Cable internet lines "So all people can share in information sharing of Broadband access". If that is done, then the Federal Government will have the authority to control the Internet in the same manner as they are trying to do with Talk Radio, and have been doing with the MSM.
And of course, that will also give them authority to tax....

Gregor
Intelligent? Obama? Thinks there are 57 states.

Iam a true conservative Republican
I do not support Govt controlling my life , not to spend hard earned tax dollors on public transport, bridges , roads etc and not helping poor , homeless, food stamps, but support Reducing taxes, Outsourcing, sending jobs overseas, drilling oil (though it destroys our environment), support invasion of other countries helping my defence contract dealers and oil companies to get lucrative no bid contracts in name of terrorism patriotism bs…., to not to interfere with my gun rights (eventhough I know that my kids will take the loaded guns as toys and kill eachother …) , against equal rights , against equal pay, support rich , against civil liberties, against voting rights for all, against a women candidate (if it is democrat – Hillary ) , but support Women candidate (if its sarah palin (eventhough I know she is dumb). Did not support United nations if it stands against my invasion dreams, but strongly support (beg) united nations to take “Global initiative” when my economy crashes … Iam very proud of my history when more than 6 million people died over the civil war over the issue of controlling Slaves …
But at the same time , I want Govt to interfere in to the private life to spy what iam doing , to control the gay marriage, to control the abortion, to control my civil rights, and I want govt to spend 100s of billion dollors every month through my tax dollors for reconstruction of other countries infrastructure (Iraq) , Wanted Govt to spend Bridge to Nowhere … etc , I support my senators who are strong Gay marriage opponent but himself caught in a Airport Bathroom for bad behavior (inviting a police for gay stuff) and I support my conservative representative from florida who is strong opponent of child rights but himself caught in inviting interns for relationship …

Bottom line iam a true conservative republican but hypocrite in everyway ….

Bipartisanship defined:
You send your kids to public school. Obama and his liberal friends will send their to private school.

DOWN WITH BIPARTISANSHIP

.....Bipartisanship for Democrats means helping them achieve their agenda ...

.....For Republicans it means being satisfied with minority status ...

.....I say screw it .....COLOSSUS

Of course Republicans shouldn't work...
Of course Republicans shouldn't work with Obama. The majority of Republicans are conservatives, and as conservatives, their mantra should be relentless opposition to Obama from the beginning. There should beno doubt about where conservatives stand--they should do everything possible to undermine public confidence in Obama, discredit him, find or invent dirt to throw at him, etc. Conservative journalists should be leading an effort to dig up something, anything, about Obama's past and present conduct that will put him in the worst possible light. Find that drug buy, that hooker, that affair with a staffer, that quarrel with his wife, the bribe, the evidence of treason, and keep dishing it up to the public until Obama's approval ratings plummet.

I expect nothing less from conservatives, and I'm seldom disappointed.

Don't give the Left of the Democrat Party anyone to blame but themselves.

Another moron
"Being guided by hate is not a conservative principle that I'm familiar with, but it appears to be a popular position with radicals masquerading as conservatives"

Being guided by a fraud who sat in Wright's racist, anti-American church for 20 years studying the evils of black liberation theology is the scariest thing in the history of US politics. Those of you who have been fawning and worshipping this clown just because he is black have earned your right to be called pod people.

Republicans
should stand up and refuse to be bi partisan patsy's but they will, it's in their genetic makeup with a few brave exceptions. They pay lip service to doing what's right for the country but they really don't care, they have been entrenched for years in cushie jobs with tax payer paid perks, so what if the DemonRATS are in control, the pay check is the same, and
the perks are great, and they sure throw better parties then the Repubs.
We have begged for years for them to get some back bone but they don't care, they are all set.
They get their great pensions and keep the perks while we wage slaves struggle to makes ends meet. They made a point of re electing Boehner and Mc Connell..so it's the same old,
submissive dogs running the kennel, rolling over and piddling on themselves whenever RED Nancy or Weasely Reid bark.
Gregor..we don't give a rat's patootie what the
socialist rest of the world thinks..got that?
The O is so intelligent he can't even decide on new faces for his cabinet, we got the clintonista's corruption second act.
The people who elected him got the government they deserve and we don't. Why should anyone
help his agenda succeed? It's the opposite of
a free, self governing people. And God won't bless an America that's voted for the blood sacrifice of more than 50 million babies and climbing; or for immorality..we are about to get a dose of God's tough love.

To all you bloggers
I have read some of the greatest wisdom on these blogs but my questions to all you with the answers, I ask, what are you doing about the mess we are in. Are you joining the grass roots organizations, getting involved in the party, I am sick to death of hearing about the Marxist Messiah but sure would love to hear what y'all are going to do about it. That means getting involved folks! Fing your local party or club, vote in the primaries, talk is easy, action is harder get off your duffs, our country depends on it.

Roger From IL
The depth of your stupidity is staggering. Your understanding of what Republican's are is as superficial as your intellect is lacking. You are banished to the DailyKos, please don't come back until your IQ gets above room temperature.

Roger from Illinois
It is mind boggling that someone as ignorant as you obviously are would leave a post like that for all to see.

Rocketeer
If he is banished to dailykos, his IQ will drop.

For the Common Good?
The liberal agenda is threatening to engulf us all to our collective detriment. I say: "Never give up!" But a comprehensive, coherent, and effective strategy for deploying enlightened conservatism in today’s world and a champion that will pick up the banner is nowhere to be seen. Very discouraging!

Conservatism, at least the unadulterated kind, recognizes as an axiom that nothing in life is free, you have to work for it; be it a house or your liberty. It’s an individual responsibility. This axiom requires that if excesses occur in any direction then a “correcting force” has to restore equilibrium; such as losing your house if you can’t make payments and losing your liberty if you violate someone else’s. This self-regulating mechanism in olden times kept people prudent and they did not live beyond their means as they knew the consequences. In this day and age of “liberalism/socialism”, caution has been thrown to the wind, people indulge in excesses of every kind, they think it is their due, and, in fact, seek perpetual indulgence from others (government usually but not exclusively), which is nothing more than living at the expense of others. Historically, this has been a recipe for weakening a Nation and its people to the point of collapse and then being subjugated by outside forces, usually physically by other more robust Nations but it can be by economic fiat, such as China collecting on our current multi-billion dollar debt. We then become a sort of slaves to these new forces and, of course, all indulgence stops completely and/or is dictated directly by the brutal reality of the forces themselves.

gestell from ma
are you serious?
replace the word conservative with liberal & obama with bush. now your post looks pretty accurate.

reply to mike #1
I read TH daily. My comments are an effort to summarize the general tone and drift of many TH posts concerning Obama. Sorry if I came too close for comfort.

Exactly!
When people speak of the president elect being successful, ask...
At what?
At growing up and becoming a man and a strong and principled leader? Certainly, though doubtful for one posessing of such profound psychological issues, not the least of which are malignant narcissism, a staggering defecit of humility and cowardice on a level heretofore unseen in any president I can think of.
At radicalizing students to hate America like he and his terrorist loser punk pal Ayers are so compelled to do?
At further insulting and demonizing our heroic troops and their victory in Iraq?
At using the Marxist class warfare card?
At defecating on the concept of free enterprise and national sovereignty?
At aping Europe and their near suicidal level of ultra tolerance for those who wish them harm and worse?
At implementing so many failed left wing and Marxist fantasies so they can fail again and harm us, possibly permenantly?
No.
I'll support him when he demonstrates a level of maturity and leadership in his behavior that is good for the country as I judge it.
Otherwise, I won't.

bipartisan is not as bipartisan does
Its like two people talking about a new car; both have completely different ideas in mind.

Here's a fresh, inexperienced president-elect, who keeps calling to end partisam politics and special influence in Washington. And all we've seen from him is partisan politics and attacks. Why doesn't it add up? I know, its the people's fault. When the left says bipartisan, it means their is no other side but theirs. Its the most overused and overdefined word in Washington. Like fine wine, everyone wants to have it but no one really needs it.

Heyjude

Quit hiding behind the words “common good”. You’re the poster child for Limbaugh’s point.

Those two words are not mutually exclusive to the left. But believe as you wish.

heyjude
I don't think liberals would know the meaning of conservatism if it took the form of a rattlesnake and bit them. The liberal mantra seems to be "I've got yours without having to earn it, screw you!"

Our Problem is Solved!..This is it!..
Limbaugh's done it!...Let's stop all of the moaning and criticizing..Let's stop violating the "11th commandment"..We've got our platform for victory!..How?...Well, let's take the opposite view of Limbaugh's list and we'll stamp out that "liberal","radical","commie","conservative" "Chicago thug" who is "not a US citizen"!...Let's put it all together. We'll have a plaform that will: 1. Expand Guantanimo! 2. Appoint "conservative judges. 3. Pro-mote gov't control as "pro-life". 4. Secure the borders and export all illegals, no matter what the cost. We're losing Hispanics but screw them! 5. Screw the environment. Drill-baby-drill! 6. Stop all Education funding. We don't need to graduate and go to Harvard! 7. Demonstrate our "diversity" by giving "inner city blacks" a right to a fee-based education. 8. Bring back Rumfeld to head our Afghanistan strategy! 9. Take over Iraq and stay as long as we want. WE'LL show them what "freedom" is!..... Well, I'M SOLD!. We can put this agenda down. We can call it the Limbaugh Party Platform...I'm sooo glad that we're moving "forward" as a party...We should DEFINITELY get 45% (and shrinking) of America to support this plan, right?

Mad as hell GRANDMA
"I ask, what are you doing about the mess we are in."

I recommend stockpiling ammo.

Bipartisan libs
Remember how the dims considered the "Common Good" of the nation when George Bush tried to reach across the isle to get a bipartisan solution to our social security woes.

Oh that's right, they didn't.

We got told by Jabba The Kennedy that social security was working just fine.

Why bipartisanship?
Democrats are now in control of the White House and Congress. They will be calling the shots. But what happens if (when, actually) things go bad? They will need somebody to blame. So, pretend to involve the Republicans in decisions and then blame them when things go bad. Recall that during this election season they wanted bipartisan support of the $700B bailout bill. Why? So Republicans couldn't hammer them with it in the election.

The only way
I have never been one who believed in conspiracies, only because I figured out the only way of conducting a conspiracy is with the help of lot’s and lots of sociopaths.

You see the problem with sociopaths is they’ll never keep quiet about what they’ve done, but what I see now is the entire democratic party and all its crazy followers and the MSM are all sociopaths, of course the left already knows we Conservatives know all this and so there’s no one left to tell.

So in a since this has been the most out in the open conspiracy in the history of the world

Go Home
The electorate has spoken - and they totally REJECT the repubs. Go home, the dems. are going to bring this nation's economy back, restore US influence in the world and make us proud once again.

heyjude
One example of their common good was public financing of elections, supposedly. But they ignore their own hypocrisy, and then say it doesn’t work. This election proved the system is broken but they advocate it for others. The same applies with education. “Common good” supposedly tells you what to support. And you don’t believe in the choice of parents, parental consent, in vouchers, or home schooling. Just force us all down the common-good road, which is just more failing bureaucratic hierarchy of big government. Its now riddled with the same politics you spew.

Common good is the mantra about “preserving” womens' reproduction rights, while not standing to preserve life – one leg of the “life liberty and pursuit of happiness” stool. Lets not put any definition behind what common good means to the left. Common good is talking about abortion being rare while promoting it with big government, and our tax dollars. All for the common good, they say, like the Kelo decision when they redefine what public use means. “Common good” is the taking private property from one to give to another for more tax revenues. Common good means what the left says it means. Dang responsibility and accountability, too, except when the subject is corporate CEO’s lavish paychecks. Then you’re all for accountability, but none in education for the NEA and agenda pushing unions. Common good stops there and political agenda enters. Never shall the two be equal. “Politics is job one”.

agree?
Yes, it seems that "agree for the common good"
sounds like "do what we say or else" right or wrong.

Richard
Is this the first time in your adult life you’ve ever been proud of this country?

Richard, what are you going to say when
the Obamination turns a mild recession into a full blown depression? What a maroon!

Poor Richard
Just another one of those Dems who had an unconscious, unrealistic expectation that if Obama won the election Republicans and conservatives would just disappear.

Such a bummer for them that we are still around and raining on their parade.

DO YOU BELIEVE…
Yes, the next four years will be a long troubling and for many agonizing four years to be sure. Why is it, that politicians of all flavors seem to have trouble doing what is right? They seem to always choose the “wrong”, even when “right” is staring them in the face.

“We the People” must put a STOP to this madness:

1. STOP…Congress from serving more than two terms. Presidents are only allowed two terms why should Congress be any different.
2. STOP…Congress from voting for their own pay & benefits.
3. STOP…Paying for Congress’ high-priced insurance and other benefits.
4. STOP…Paying Congress’ full salary after serving just one term, or at retirement.
5. STOP…Congress from receiving life-time benefits; make them pay into Social Security like everyone else.
6. STOP…Congress from ignoring the will of the majority, over that of the special interests.
7. STOP…Giving out aid to illegal aliens.
8. STOP…Anyone from entering this country illegally.
9. STOP…Allowing babies born to illegal aliens in the USA automatic US Citizenship.
10. STOP…The abuses of the welfare system.
11. STOP…Fraud and identity theft. Cross check Social Security Numbers with finger-prints and use it for voter registration.
12. STOP…The “Bailing-Out” of banks and mortgage companies that gave loans to people who could not afford them. Or to any company that has made bad business decisions, including the Auto Industry.
13. STOP…Companies from giving CEOs and other executives outrageous salaries, bonuses and golden parachutes while the company goes “belly-up”, taking its workers pensions with it.
14. STOP…All unnecessary spending, especially “ear-marks”.
15. STOP…Permitting anyone from having a driver’s license with their face covered.

I could come up with some more, but you get the idea. These are common sense items that a free people should have demand long ago.

DO YOU BELIEVE…

@TruthHurts?:
If you actually are stating fact, rather than merely speaking from swallowed rage, I would kindly request that you provide verifiable evidence of your statements.

I'll make it simple for you. Please provide at least two unique citations backing each of your claims. If your statements are true, then this should prove no problem for you.

richard
Restore US influence? You moron if it wasn't for the US taxpayer this world would fall apart.

Moron do you have any idea how much US aid keeps these other pathetic countries alive?

Moron speak for yourself and the other moonie obamanites who hate this country because you can't think for yourselves or have NO common sense!

If you had a life other than sitting at a computer with your false " sense of self " and posting your dribble you might learn that people in other countries envy our way of life. Thats why they all want to come here.

Unfortunately alot of the ones coming are parasites like you!

heyjude
No you got it wrong

I worked for mine, work for your own moron!

MESSAGE FROM THE FRONT
Don’t even waste your time on these liberal commentators. They’re only here to troll and bait you into an argument. They know this is a conservative web site; they’re not here to open their minds or expand their horizons. If I wanted to hear liberal dribble I could:
1) Watch network news
2) Read a newspaper
3) Watch a movie
4) Watch a TV sitcom
5) Talk to a Hollywood actor or actress
6) Talk to a recording artist
7) Talk to a public school teacher
8) Talk to a university faculty member
9) Talk to a public school student (grades k-12 brain washed by teachers)
10) Talk to a college student (brain washed by faculty)
11) Wait for Thanksgiving dinner with my family

Mainstream Media Bias
'Disgusting' Bias for Obama, Time Writer Admits

Sunday, November 23, 2008 5:40 PM

The mainstream media's support for Barack Obama's presidential campaign was so biased that even major insiders are now admitting they were shocked by its depth and depravity.

Last week, Time magazine's Mark Halperin called the media's performance during the campaign simply "disgusting."

Halperin told a panel of media analysts at the Politico/USC conference on the 2008 election, "It's the most disgusting failure of people in our business since the Iraq war."

He added, "It was extreme bias, extreme pro-Obama coverage

Richard
"The electorate has spoken"

When the brain dead drones speak the only thing they can say is "change", having been programmed by their nutjob, Hussein Obama to learn to speak a word without understanding the meaning. It seems that the change turned out to be an inept black man elected by an inept cult following.

Republicans in Congress
should vote no to every liberal proposal for the next two years. They wanted one party rule and the American people in their wisdom (lol) gave it to them. Let them have it, but don't give them cover by compromising or voting for their ideas.

Not that this really matters long-term. With the amnesty about to be given to 20 million or more illegals and the subsequent chain migration of 100 million plus low-skilled relatives we are fast approaching three outcomes. One party rule and a Bannana Republic third world status, or a whole new system completely run by hispanics (as they will be the majority population and unlike non-hispanic whites will be unwilling to vote for anyone who is not just like themselves, or the country losing the Southwest to Mexico.

Pretty much I think it is over. The grand experiment failed because we allowed it to rot from within. We have an electorate that is completely uninformed and does not know our history or Constitution, and has no respect for either. We have politicians that are concerned with power at any cost. And we have an economic system that by design and poor management is leading us to global economic governance (new world order).

Our standard of living and that of our children will continue to decline until we are all dependent on the central planners (read new world order).

And many of you will think I sound like a nut, but if you look at the actions of the last three administrations -- and others who have preceded them since WWII -- you can only come to the conclusion that the end of the sovereign nation state particularly the US has been the agenda all along.

LuLu
From one nut to another. I agree with you 100%. When jobs were sent out of country to aid other nations economy,it began in earnest.

Open borders meant losing our sovereignty. Any country who can't (won't) control it's borders will not be a country very long.It is sad,but true.

The last two decades has taken it's toll. Bill Clinton has done more damage than can ever be undone. Republicans did nothing to stop NAFTA or open borders,so they share the blame.

Bill Clinton will be the culprit who did the most harm, though. Drudge has a link saying Clinton has taken over two million dollars from the banking systems that are now in trouble for "speaking engagements'. Oh yeah. Speeches,my eye.

Clinton closed thousands of acres of land in the midwest where coal was mined,so Indonesia would have a free hand in the coal industry,as a trade-off to the Riady's. Sold nuclear secrets to the Chinese for campaign money, etc.

Now he is back in power again. We will never recover from the last two decades. And we will never recover from the Clintons.

Clinton / Obama Administration
To refresh the minds of what kind of administration the Clintons have in store for us,check out "The Ato Z of Clinton Scandals." Each scandal can be searched further.

Also, another interesting read is ..."The Clinton Book Companion" by Lisa Fabrizio.

This is just a small part of the past life of crimes committed by the Clinton's. If the left wing media had not protected both, they would not be back to terrorize us again.

Liberal Fascism
Those who have read Jonah Goldberg's outstanding book "Liberal Fascism" will know that calling on an end to partisanship is right out of the Mussolini playbook.

COMMON GOOD
A STRONG POWERFUL MILITARY, LESS GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES, ELIMINATION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, PROHIBITION OF UNION ACTIVITY OCCURING ON GOVERNMENT PROPERTIES, ELIMINATION OF TAX EXEMPTIONS, ELIMINATION OF TAXDEDUCTIONS,
CONGRESSIONAL TERM LIMITS, A CAP ON FEDERAL PENSIONS, FEDERAL PRISON TIME FOR VIOLATING CIVIL RIGHTS BY ANY CIVIL SERVANT AND THOSE CONSPIRING WITH CIVIL SERVANTS.

THE LIBERAL DO NOT WANT THINGS FOR THE COMMON GOOD OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. THEY WANT SOCIAL PROGRAMS THAT SHARE THE WEALTH WHICH ON THEIR OWN THEY CAN NEVER DO. ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO GIVING THEIR TIME, THEY WANT A REWARD BECAUSE THEY COULD BE DOING SOMETHING ELSE. SELF GLORY IS THE ONLY REASON THEY HELP ANYONE, AND DEMAND RECOGNITION FOR DOING SO. COMMON GOOD USED TO SEPARATE OPPORTUNITY OF HELP FOR GOVERNMENT ( ELDERLY, RETIRED, HANDICAPPED, AND THE UNEMPLOYED SEARCHING FOR A JOB.) THE CHURCH OR COMMUNITY SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS NOT RECEIVING GOVERNMENTAL FUNDING HANDLED ALL OTHER PERSONS.

COMMON GOOD OF THE FAITH BASED INTIATIVE IS LET
THE WASTE OF GOVERNMENT CORRUPT THE CONGREGATION. MINISTRIES WERE CREATED TO FIT THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE GRANT OR PUBLIC FUNDS
BEING SOUGHT. COMMON GOOD HAVE BEEN MADE COMPROMISE OF EVIL.THE LAST THING THIS COUNTRY NEED IS PELOSI, REED, AND OBAMA DOING ANYTHING FOR THE COMMON GOOD.

America is suffering
America is suffering unlawful deception from the Alinsky group.
Group u$urp$ power on January 20th—the constitution violated.
The United States Supreme Court alone can relieve this outrage.

Great column and great responses
I enjoyed the column, and I like reading the responses. I really like reading the delusional posts from the liberals.

If Obama goes left (I don't see how with his record he can help it), it is up to the Republicans to put up a vigorous offense. They can only be blamed for what goes wrong if they fail to do that. The American people have proven again and again that they are not leftists, so we are depending on a spirited Republican party to get us through this administration. If they can regain the trust of the people, they may find their numbers improving starting in 2010.

On a personal note, I have a wonderful and bright son who is a junior in the high school where I teach. He had to give a persuasive speech, and he chose to give one on eliminating welfare. His teacher came to me after school to tell me how well he did. She said she just sat there listening to him and thinking about what a fine, young, Republican man he is. He is of the belief that those who are diabled through no fault of their own are entitled to aid, but nobody else should expect to live off of the labors of their tax-paying neighbors.

Obama Mesmerized Voters
Barack Obama and his campaign managed to 'Ride the Wave' of popular trends like 'American Idol' and pithy 'Meaningless' slogans like 'Change' and 'Hope'.

'Change' was for anything his followers wanted and 'Hope' was for anything his followers desired.

With 'Followers' who do NOT use facts, reason and logic to make decisions the rest was easy. Barack Obama voters were not just stupid they were mesmerized by a 'False Image' who promised miracles for everyone.

"... a light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany ... and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for Obama" - Barack Obama Lebanon, New Hampshire.
January 7, 2008.

“It is absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal.” Barack Obama

"...Barack Obama isn't really one of us. Not in the normal way, anyway.

...A Lightworker -- An Attuned Being with Powerful Luminosity and High-Vibration Integrity who will actually help usher in a New Way of Being"
Mark Morford San Francisco Chronicle, Friday, June 06, 2008

Louis Farrakhan: "...And he has involved young people in a political process that they didn't care anything about. When the Messiah speaks, the youth will hear, and the Messiah is absolutely speaking."

HOW???
Can some liberal explain to me HOW taking money away from employers creates jobs?

Why does the man who promises to forcibly take more money from employers and "the wealthy" give you hope?

---Is it that you will hope you don't get downsized from your employer who now can't afford you?
---Is it that you, as a hotel worker, hope you don't get downsized because those evil rich people, now having less money, aren't traveling?
---Is it that you, as a landscaper, have to now find another profession because the evil wealthy people are now cutting back on their large landscape jobs?

WHY do you feel so entitled to money you haven't earned?
WHY is YOUR greed not bad in your eyes?
WHY do you want a big mommy government to take care of you as if you are a helpless little kid?
WHY is it moral for some citizens to have to spend their precious time earning money to give to you who haven't earned it?
WHY aren't liberals giving in droves to Obama's 1/2 brother in Africa who lives on $12/year?

We Must "Stay The Course"
I was talking to a woman who immigrated from Russia to the U.S. six years ago. Another woman immigrated from Turkey and another woman immigrated from Iran. In fact, one woman was from communist China and told me she had to sleep on the ground for two years in a camp.
Another woman was from Cuba. My friends are definitely multi-cultural from all cultures and countries. As a second generation American whose grandparents immigrated from Europe, I looked around the table over dinner and listened to their various accents and I said, "Good grief, I feel like a foreigner in my own country," and laughed. They asked me who I voted for and I told them McCain and basically, each of them said, "We've heard all those words before. We don't like Obama. He's a socialist. He's saying everything that the socialists said in our country and that's why we came here. We are shocked that the American people don't bother to investigate or listen to what he's saying." They said they were very worried now because they wanted to live in a free country. I was concerned prior to our dinner, but now I know that what I listened to Obama say before election was that he wants to change America from a democracy to a socialist nation in my opinion and if anyone should know, it's people who came here and said they've already heard this same speech in their country many time and left their families to get away.
