Poll
Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Professional poll-watcher and persistent president-slanderer Harry Reid, who also moonlights as Senate Majority Leader, is proving himself to be a menace and a brutish boor.

Reid joined House Speaker and fellow president-slanderer Nancy Pelosi in sending a letter to President Bush berating him for not listening to the will of the American people on Iraq. If Reid were truly interested in deferring to the will of the American people, he would tender his resignation today -- not to mention get off the amnesty bandwagon.

Luckily for Reid, we have a republic, not a pure democracy with ongoing votes of confidence, so his job will be secure until the next election, despite his well-earned 19 percent approval rating and 45 percent disapproval rating, according to Rasmussen Reports.

Unlike the unambiguous polling data demonstrating his woeful unpopularity with Americans, Reid's basis for determining the will of the American people on Iraq is, at best, dubious. Reid (with Pelosi) wrote, "Last November, the American people overwhelmingly made clear their desire to bring the war in Iraq to a responsible end. Yet, at the start of this year, you announced a substantial escalation of our military presence in Iraq."

There are about as many opinions as to why Republicans lost majority control as there are political commentators, some believing the unpopularity of the war was the primary factor, and others believing it was Republican abandonment of conservative principles. Others believe the elections turned more on state than federal concerns.

But one thing is clear. Voters couldn't possibly have been affirming Democratic policy on Iraq, because there was no discernible Democratic policy on Iraq, other than to undercut all aspects of the Bush policy and offer no alternatives.

Of course, almost all voters wanted and still want to "bring the war in Iraq to a responsible end." But only the administration offered a plan based on that goal. Bush has always wanted to bring the war to a responsible end, in the sense of ending American involvement as soon as Iraqi security forces are capable of stabilizing and defending the Iraqi government.

Though Democrats have advocated cutting and running from Iraq -- and thereby ending American involvement there -- one would be hard-pressed to call such a proposal a likely route to a "responsible" ending for the war. How would it be responsible to precipitately withdraw from Iraq when the likely consequences would be mayhem, anarchy, a bona fide civil war, the emboldening of our terrorist enemies, a new launching pad for international terrorism backed by Iraqi oil funds and a virtual guaranty that our fallen soldiers in Iraq will have died in vain?

To this day, Reid's Democrats have never explained how a near-immediate, telegraphed withdrawal would have the remotest chance of serving America's national interests and security. They've never explained how any of their misguided policies would do so.

Maybe that's one reason why, despite the manifest unpopularity of the war, Harry Reid and his cohorts enjoy lower approval ratings than the president. Though the public is understandably unsatisfied with the mostly media-driven perception that we have made no progress and done nothing constructive in Iraq, it has to know that Reid and company offer no sane alternatives and plenty of irrational and destructive ones. It's as if Reid is on a mission to reach new depths in his approval ratings. One sure-fire way he can succeed is to continue cheerleading for our enemy.

Just this week, Reid called outgoing Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Marine Gen. Peter Pace "incompetent," though he recently voted to confirm him. And in their letter to President Bush, Reid and Pelosi declared our ongoing troop surge in Iraq a failure.

Though U.S. Commander in Iraq David Petraeus and President Bush have repeatedly said the surge would take time to yield results, Reid and Pelosi insist on wearing their partisan hats in lieu of their American ones as they refuse to give the surge time, and our commanders and soldiers the benefit of the doubt -- and their support.

"As many had foreseen, the escalation has failed to produce the intended results," wrote Reid and Pelosi.

Now that's debatable, not to mention an irresponsibly premature assessment.

But "as many had foreseen," Reid and Pelosi continue to undermine the United States of America and make Osama bin Laden proud.

September
When Gen. Petraeus reports on the surge's progress in September, I wonder if he'll have the courage to point out to those Senators who will inevitably disregard any good news he reports that they declared the surge a failure before it even began. Will President Bush use this weapon that they handed to him on a silver platter? Probably not. After 6+ years, he's almost got the Dems right where he wants them: killing them with kindness.

David Limpbugh
professional liar

The end of America as it was once known

If a Democrat wins the White House in 2008 and Reid continues as Senate majority leader, America will never be the same. In his perverted way of thinking anyone who doesn't agree with him is "incompetent".

We have entered a "no holds barred" type of political atmosphere. It is take no prisoners. If your ideas are not better, kill them with policies of personal destruction.

What the Liberals did to Lieberman was disgrace to a long time dedicated and devoted Democrat. Reid and his cohorts will do everything they can to not allow the Republicans to have any influence in the electoral process. We are given several examples of what their rule will be:

1. Bringing a important bill to the floor of the Senate without allowing the opposition party to make any amendments.

2. Threatening to add earmarks to bills AFTER they have been voted for.

3. Raising nepotism to a new height.

4. Alloting themselves perks over and above any previous administration.

In addition, look what the State of Massachusetts recently did: the legislators would not allow a social issue to be voted upon by the voters but instead closed down debate and passed the legislation they way they wanted. We will see more and more of these sorts of tyrannical and tortuous legislation at the Federal and State levels of legislation.

The inmates will be running the asylum.

Sashal
What exactly is Mr. Limbaugh lying about?

Bush
He's got the Dems right where they want him.

Let me answer.

"Professional poll-watcher and persistent president-slanderer Harry Reid, who also moonlights as Senate Majority Leader..."

First lie was to call Reid a president slander:

slan·der /'slænd?r/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[slan-der] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun 1. defamation; calumny: rumors full of slander.
2. a malicious, false, and defamatory statement or report: a slander against his good name.
3. Law. defamation by oral utterance rather than by writing, pictures, etc.
–verb (used with object) 4. to utter slander against; defame.
–verb (used without object) 5. to utter or circulate slander.

"In addition, look what the State of Massachusetts recently did: the legislators would not allow a social issue to be voted upon by the voters but instead closed down debate and passed the legislation they way they wanted. We will see more and more of these sorts of tyrannical and tortuous legislation at the Federal and State levels of legislation."

And the did the same to end segregation. Seems that when the last Congress was doing even worse they were heroes now Oh dear the sky is falling. I just shake my head at the absurdity

Sonny
"If a Democrat wins the White House in 2008 and Reid continues as Senate majority leader, America will never be the same."

I sure hope you are right

Harry Reid - Traitor, liar and Thief
Harry Reid was a known liar when I lived in Nevada years back and he hasn't changed. He was/is involved in all kinds of shady real estate deals and could never stand and investigation (ala Jefferson) nor close scrutiny by the media (no fear of that, huh?). Why the good people of Nevada continue to elect this moron is beyond me. He is a prime example of what is wrong ing the Senate and House - we need a TOTAL house-cleaning nad start over with term limits. ALL of these people make me sick.

But...Hal Donahue...
Your definition of slander makes Mr. Limbaugh's point.

So Sashal still needs to provide particulars.

SSGTRET
A cheerful good day to you too.

"I'm surprised at your statement about the legislatures ignoring the will of the people. I thought you were all for the will of the people!"

Our federal constitution set up the government to protect the minorities and the states more or less followed suite. My point is that sometimes the legislatures and courts have to moderate public passions of the moment. It galls me but seems to be wise.

jlg
One example please? Stating the truth that Rush Limbaugh is a drug addict or Ollie North is a convicted felon who got off on a legal technicality are nor slander they are fact. Saying Bush is incompetent and arguably the worst president in our history is not slander..

GOFER
Oh stop whining please if you can do better run for office

Sorry Hal
I still don't see where the lie is. All I see is you trying to contrive a lie out of someones opinion. Maybe you should of looked up the definition of a "lie" as well.

SSGTRET, I'm sure if the legislature wanted to end same sex marriage and the majority of people wanted it Hal would be squealing a different tune.

Hal
"Saying Bush is incompetent and arguably the worst president in our history is not slander."

They said similar if not much worse about Lincoln and Trueman. How did they turn out?

The big Republican lie
The Big Lie: The MSM spins the news cause they're all liberals who hate America.

How much longer are you Republicans going to fall for this lie? The extraordinarily well financed Republican noise machine is doing their best to create an alternative universe by denigrating the MSM. The implication being that you can only trust right-wing pundits to "give it to you straight".

After four years of these guys peeing on your heads and telling you it's raining, you people still think it's the MSM that isn't telling the "real" story?

The following is from a report released Wednesday by the Pentagon. It's the first comprehensive statistical overview of the new U.S. military strategy in Iraq.

"Overall, however, violence “has increased in most provinces, particularly in the outlying areas of Baghdad province and Diyala and Ninewa provinces,” … In Diyala’s restive capital of Baqubah, U.S. and Iraq forces “have been unable to diminish rising sectarian violence contributing to the volatile security situation,” [the report] said. … [I]t cited “significant evidence” of attacks on Sunni Arabs by the predominantly Shiite government security forces, which have contributed to the displacement of an estimated 2 million Iraqis from their homes."

Is the Pentagon trying to undermine the United States Mr. Limbaugh?

Phylo out.

ONE DAY
Im a Retired Military Vet and it shames me to see one of our leaders talk so badly about the Military that he supports. I have 7 family members in this WAR and proud to call them my family. This redirect that is being spewed about our military leaders will someday come back to haunt us. The soldier on the ground heres this crap everyday. One day we are going to ask them to defend this country and they are going to refuse to. Who will we be able to blame then. ONLY OURSELVES, because we elected these pieces of crap into office. We as Americans will regret bashing our troops/leaders one day.

AreDNmYheaD
and Johnson and Carter too don't forget. And to compare mr. "I am responsible for nothing GW" to either Lincoln or Truman is a laugh. They were stand up men

AreDNmYheaD
"I still don't see where the lie is. All I see is you trying to contrive a lie out of someones opinion. Maybe you should of looked up the definition of a "lie" as well."

That is my point there is no slander David says there is that is lie number one

chuck
"We as Americans will regret bashing our troops/leaders one day."

Two things:
First: no one is bashing the troops; well no one with the exception of that Kansas religious fundemnetalist/conservative group

Second: We would not BE Americans if we did not bash our leaders just like you just did as a matter of fact. FYI: Abe Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt marched in the streets against active wars....

Translating D. Limbaugh
"It stinks being in the minority and I hate the much deserved arse whuppins SENATE MAJORITY LEADER REID ANDSPEAKER OF THE HOUSE PELOSI are putting on lame duck Prez Bush and Republicans."

Truly Sad
Good grief. When even Townhall becomes a snarky cesspool of leftist "insight", one truly realizes how rabid and emboldened the fringe left has become. God help us.

SSGTRET
"They only do what they think will get them votes."

That is exactly how it is supposed to be especially in the Houses that is exactly why the terms are so short to guarantee that responsiveness...

trotter
"Good grief. When even Townhall becomes a snarky cesspool of leftist "insight", one truly realizes how rabid and emboldened the fringe left has become. God help us."

LMAO hello I hope you are well..

Re "Phylo out," that is as in, way out in left field, hallucinating and babbling.

"Re "Phylo out," that is as in, way out in left field, hallucinating and babbling."

WHAT??????

I'm laughing
The libtards think that Harry Weasel and Nancy Wicked Witch of the West are putting the Reps in their place! There's a reason their approval ratings are lower than everyone else's and no one wants to work with them. Geez, you guys are stupid, but then again, we knew that. For some reason libtards think the sun sets and rises around them and their opinion is the only one that matters at all. They forget their are other people in this country as well.

Hal Donohue is an idiot
I notice that you are quick to tag that religious group as conservative. They are non-political fool, they said so themselves. What is telling in your rush to judgement is that you admit that the left is Godless no matter how much you pander.

Phylo
We don't need the media to tell us you and your leftist guilt ridden friends hate America. Your actions speak much louder than words.

Have you no sense?
How nice that some writers here are exposing their ignorance... to wit-

One example please? Stating the truth that Rush Limbaugh is a drug addict or Ollie North is a convicted felon who got off on a legal technicality are nor slander they are fact. Saying Bush is incompetent and arguably the worst president in our history is not slander..

Every person that smokes is addicted to nicotine. Rush Limbaugh got hooked on pain medication. Does that make him as bad as all smokers? Or is their a different standard for him in the minds of some?

Ollie North achieved an important task for the U.S. at a time when Congress was trying hard to run our foreign affairs. In the process they fingered the culprit who defeated their unconstitutional invasion of the Executive branch of our three part government. Is it somehow important to shoot North or only necessary to discredit his daily work?

Is it reasonable for a real estate investor from Utah to blather about his instant expertise on competence of anyone? Answer is yes! But, we are hoping that most are intelligent enough to know how ill informed is Sen Reid.

Slander is a great political weapon. It is also the tool of the ignorant.

Keepontryon
For it to be slander it has to be untrue. Both my statements were correct.

"Rush Limbaugh got hooked on pain medication. Does that make him as bad as all smokers?"

Huh not going to argue smoking but yes it does make him a drug addict.

It is a fact that Ollie North is a convicted felon let off on a legal technicality. It is also true that by lying to Congress he violated his oath of office to support and defend the constitution.

"Slander is a great political weapon. It is also the tool of the ignorant."

Also, apparently is saying slander when in fact it is true and therefore not slander.

Boycott Nevada
I didn't realize the peyote consumption problem in Nevada was as bad as it was until Harry Reid rose to Senate Majority Leader. It was only then I began to realize the people of that state must not be in their right minds if they were electing an influence-peddling traitor like him to high public office.

But the fact remains they have, so now the question is, "What is the rest of this nation going to do about it?"

Nevada's economy is heavily dependent on the convention and tourism inductries, and is the primary source from which the state govenrment draws its revenues.

Americans who are sickened by Harry Reid's oily antics and treasonous behavior need to punish the people who foisted him on the rest of us.

My suggestion is to boycott the state of Nevada until they can send up a better senator, or can at least rein him in. Those who may have been considering a trip to Las Vegas, Reno, or wherever should go somewhere else. Those responsible for selecting convention locations should strike Nevada from their consideration list.

The people of South Dakota woke up and tossed Daschle out on his ear. A few years earlier, the people of Tennessee tossed out Jim Sasser, who was set to become the next Senate Majority leader. So it is possible to get rid of these scalawags, even if they have ascended to the pinnacles of power in the Dhimmicrat Party.

Trying to strongarm the constituents of Nancy Pelosi and Chuckie Schumer though is a non-starter, because these hardcare leftists actually approve of their Senators' disgraceful conduct. But there is no reason why the folks in moderate to conservative states need to be getting a pass for not acting responsibly, when we possess the power to put the thumbscrews to them.

Reid is Toast
Harry Reid is a traitor of John Kerry proportions. The middle class fleeing the insane asylum formerly known as California to Nevada is going to toss him out of office. Which is why the 'Rats are racing to give 20 million illegals the right to vote.

Joisey
What a scary, bleak and nasty world you conservatives and Republicans and fundies seem to live in. Just read the posts here....

Voter Imposed Term Limits
I am so sick and tired of Congress that I have been forced do something, so I have founded Voter Imposed Term Limits. The American people must be made to understand that they control Congress not the other way around.

The Mission of Voter Imposed Term Limits is to educate the individual American Citizen of the awesome power and responsibility giving to each American Citizen by the United State Constitution. All Federal elections and a great many Local elections are National and International in scope. All members of Congress vote on National and International problems and issues. No more " All elections are Local ".

We do not need a Constitutional Amendment to limit the terms members of Congress can serve. All American Citizens have that power in their vote. Voter Imposed Term Limits will educate the American Voter to wield this power judicially and with great effect.

The Congress of today is pure theater. No reality, all smoke and mirrors for the audience. The only part that is real is the total dedication to REELECTION. The job is so great no one wants to give it up. Power corrupts and they have absolute power over our lives.
Voter Imposed Term Limits will, through inventive use of all Media Forms and Forums, give the American Voter a way to simply, easily and with certainty limit the term in office all federally elected officials.

The really nice thing about Voter Imposed Term Limits is that we can do it without the need to even ask Congress for anything.
I believe that a new Unwritten Rule is taking shape in the mind of the American voter, be they Democrat or Republican, simply put it goes something like “6 YEARS AND OUT”.

It does appear that the loony-toon
libs are having a hard time actually dealing directly with the actual article... "Harry Reid: Professional Menace"

It took only six or seven posts before ol' Hal went off on a 45 degree tirade about the definition of "slander."

"First lie was to call Reid a president slander:"

That's when you know that the libs can't face up to what's written... they take the discussion someplace else...

Hal Donahue
What tedious and uninspired posts you pen. If there is a bleak and nasty aspect to this particular thread though, it might be because of the 37 posts listed on it, your name is associated in some way with more than half of them.

lolo: Reid/Pelosi are doing great...
within the limits of what they can actually accomplish with their slim majorites in Congress.

A lot of leftist are disappointed with them because they want them to be even more confrontational with Bush and the repub minority on Iraq, etc. without really understanding the rules, voting procedures, tactics and what it takes to get a bill passed into law. just as his republican predecessors while they were in the majority Reid doesnt have the 60 vote "supermajority".

again, I think they are both doing a great job.
they are pressing the left's agenda and they are both fighters. they dont back down and that is admirable.

Hal
I remember when the moonbats were calling Reagan "the worst president ever" (and this was right after Carter!!). Now the majority of Americans want to add him to Mt Rushmore.

Yeah, the dems are kicking butt...19% approval rate! (hell, 19% of the population doesn't even know who Reid is, but would "approve" just to avoid looking ignorant or because he as a "D" after his name).

What's really disturbing is that I've been to more than 30 countries and can tell you that the comments by our "own" leftist whackos degrading our country are worse than the words of many of our enemies.

Hal Donahue...
"...2. a malicious, false, and defamatory statement or report: a slander against his good name..."

Harry Reid 2002: "President Bush is a liar. He betrayed Nevada and the betrayed the country."

Harry Reid 2005: "Last week, I met with the president and was encouraged when he told me he would not become involved in Republican efforts to break the Senate rules. Now, it appears he was not being honest, and that the White House is encouraging this raw abuse of power."

Harry Reid 2005: "The man's father is a wonderful human being. I think this guy is a loser."

Harry Reid slandered President Bush. Q.E.D.

Now what is Mr. Limbaugh's lie, again?

Comprehension
"Hal"writes, "wbheff "Re "Phylo out," that is as in, way out in left field, hallucinating and babbling. WHAT??????"

Why the question? My comment was written in uncomplicated English, with only two multi-syllable words. Should I have used pictures of only one syllable to allow you to comprenhend?

Oh, and the comment was not directed at you. I rarely respond to your "contributions" on this site, as they are all the same.

Hey Icedog.. You nailed it!

Was just ready to post pretty much what you did, but no doubt you said it much better than I..

(BTW, it's "Lynne" here. Had trouble logging in with my usual name.)

Reid attacking troops now
Apparently constantly attacking Bush isn't good enough for this buffoon, now he's attacking the troops calling Petraeus and Pace incompetent.

Wbheff
As addicted as Hal is to attention, he has little room to talk. Notice how he answers for others without being asked!

Hey, Sandman
I am going to go find a website for Nevada tourism and email them that I will not be going to Nevada as long as Harry Reid is in office. I suggest that every conservative do the same. Let's see if we can rock their boat, the way we've rocked the SCAMNESTY boat. I've already sent McCain an email that I won't be voting for him as President due to his stance on immigration. Now I read that I am being emotional and irrational. Now I will send him a follow up. You know, as mad as the people are in Arizona about illegal immigrants, why is it that their Democratic governor defunded the National Guard she had called up to help, and both of their senators are on the SCAMNESTY train? Arizona voters need to wake up and apply some term limits of their own.

Lynne
I wish the libs would just occasionally disagree with their leaders. No matter how bizarre the dem’s statement or action, the moonbats still try to defend them.

When Bush supported amnesty, he was blasted by most conservatives. This completely confused the libs…the idea of not walking lockstep with your party leaders just doesn’t compute with them. Cigar sex/adultery in the Oval Office…no problem, cash bribes in the fridge…no problem, illegal stock trading, illegal land deals, theft of classified information….no problem.

Libs could earn a speck of credibility if they would just occasionally condemn or criticize the illegal and immoral actions of their leaders……of course that would require actual thought and if they were capable of doing that they wouldn’t be a liberal.

Rush
Hal says that Rush used pain killers so he is a drug addict. So Hal is a liar, because he told a lie at sometime or other

Icedog; their is a disconnect
you stated:

"When Bush supported amnesty, he was blasted by most conservatives. This completely confused the libs.

Libs are not confused in the least. the confusion is between conservatives and Prez Bush.
conservatives say the bill is a "amnesty" bill.
President Bush says that it is not and that he doesnt support "amnesty". Maybe you guys need to clarify that within your own party before you criticize others that are not?

Icedog: The problem is....
their thinking is either "circular" or a complete "logical disconnect."

Just the other day some loony-toons liberal came after me for bashing Pres. Bush, and when I explained that 1) never once have I bashed Pres. Bush, even when I totally disagreed with the "shamnesty" bill, and 2) unlike the dumbocraps, we Conservatives do tend to "think for ourselves."

Made so sense to this loony liberal. He couldn't quite "get it."

You're absolutely right... if whomever has a "D" after their name, the loony libs just lock step agree like mindless sheep.

Uh, yeah, they most certainly ARE very confused.

You should have read the go-around I had with a lib a few days ago. Couldn't get it!!!

Amazed that we could disagree with a fellow Republican. He was totally bewildered!

Left Angle
You totally missed the point. The point wasn't about amnesty, it was the point that conservatives tend to think on their own and liberals tend to spew or do whatever they're told to by their liberal masters....as you've frequently demonstrated.

Reid & Pelosi
I think Reid should be impeached. He is a embarrassment to our country.Pelosi has talked so much about how great the Dems are and with her leadership the whole Congress is a joke. So between Pelosi and Reid our country is being thought of by the terrorist it's working. They both should be impeached. We need to get back the greatness of our country. Proud to be a American and they should be too. How sad.

Voting in Harry Reid
I live in Nevada and I will tell you one way Reid gets elected...the union bosses go down to the casinos and put all their members in trucks and drive them to the polling places and tell them how to vote...and that is a fact!

The political system in Nevada is about as bad as it can get. There are so many councilmen under indictement right now that it would take more than one hand to count them.

People who live here are from other parts of the country, (a net gain of 3,000 newcomers monthly) and I guess they don't feel a vested interest in politics in Nevada; they don't know the candidates, and don't bother to learn about them.

Harry Reid is an embarrassment, and John Ensign has sold out his constituency big time...Jon Porter is no bargain either. Our Governor is a joke, and politics in general in this state is a very sorry affair.

The few of us thinking voters would throw out the rascals if we had enough clout...maybe someday it will happen, but the political machine in Las Vegas is about as well oiled as it can be. Quelle Dommage!

Penny writes
I think Reid should be impeached.

Please God NO! With the unbelievable incompetance that Reid and Pelosi have shown we who love America can work to prevent the damage the traitors on the right side of the aisle are trying to do. With even half wits in their positions we would be fighting on two fronts! These two morons are some of the best players on our team. Sometimes Gods Greatest Gifts are....

Nope other wars..

Lexx777: "Voting in Harry Reid"

"...put all their members in trucks and drive them to the polling places and tell them how to vote..."

Why do I not find that the LEAST bit difficult to believe? Of course, I have often wondered if Teddy "the swimmer" hasn't had some similar type of operation in play that seems to get himself re-elected again and again and again....

Anne, it sounds
similar to the 2000 Presidential election when Democrats were handing out cartons of cigarettes to homeless people to get their vote for Gore.

Goddie4LT: Exactly!!! And, how about

in Milwaukee when the sons of a first-term congresswoman and Milwaukee's former acting mayor were among five Democratic activists who slashed the tires of vans rented by Republicans to drive voters and monitors to the polls on Election Day?"

Ya gotta luv those dumbocrats, don't ya?

And it's ironic as well
that in November, 2006, for the first time in recent history, Democrats didn't demand a recount or scream about voter fraud!
Guess those "voting machines" worked correctly this time!

Goddie4LT: You're right...the irony!

Glad you posted that! I was wondering if I was the only one who noticed how quiet the loony-toony libs were. What? No recount demand!

And, did we happen to hear the Republicans whining, griping, and crying about the "unfair" elections?

No we did not! :-)

Reid and Pelosi
this pair shows how ludicrous seniority is as a qualifier for leadership. Both seem mentally challenged and appear to gain their meagerr accomplishments through bribery and threats against those in their party. Where are the great accomplishments promised prior to the last election. Other than lining his pockets what exactly has Reid accomplished in the senate. as the old saying goes, if you want to lead than do it, otherwise get out of the way. Sound like good asvise for these two losers
