Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

While arrogantly guaranteeing that she would be the next president, Hillary Clinton promised to stop America from being an "arrogant power." Well, maybe when she accomplishes her mission, she can begin to work on herself.

Notice that Hillary didn't say we "appear" to be arrogant or that other nations misperceive us as an arrogant nation. She said, "When I'm president, I'm going to send a message to the world that America is back -- we're not the arrogant power that we've been acting like for the last six years."

For those of you who doubted John Kerry was expressing a common Democratic sentiment when he called America an "international pariah," here is your confirmation. Indeed, Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean, when running for president himself, said of America, "We find ourselves, too often, isolated and resented." President Bush, he said, had "created a new rallying cry for terrorist recruits."

And in case you think Hillary is less politic on this issue than her politically gifted husband, you might recall that when accepting an award for "international understanding" a few years ago, Bill Clinton said that America's image had suffered in the Muslim world. Another Democratic ex-president, Jimmy Carter, said that by acting unilaterally, President Bush had alienated and isolated the United States from its potential allies in the war on terror. He said Bush's policies have resulted in America losing her "reputation as the most admired champion of freedom and justice."

Are these people singing from the same hymnbook, or what?

Since before we attacked Iraq, they have mercilessly excoriated Bush for his "radical unilateralism," his "go-it-alone" approach. It never occurred to them to criticize, say, France or Germany, for not doing the right thing by joining the coalition against Saddam Hussein, despite believing the exact same things we believed about his weapons of mass destruction, his dangerous ties to terrorism and his serial violations of post-war treaties and U.N. resolutions.

Is it just me, or is anyone else getting tired of these people ceaselessly, instinctively siding with America's foreign critics and slamming the United States? Sometimes it seems that Hillary and company are as concerned about their poll numbers in France and Germany as in the United States.

Hillary said, "We want to be an admired country again in the world. There is a lot of work to be done."

When in recent history has America been greatly admired by other nations? When haven't we been the object of resentment and jealousy throughout the world, and quite underappreciated, considering our record of philanthropy?

What other great nation in history -- let alone the world's lone superpower -- has been so willing to use its power for the good and so cautious, contrary to conventional wisdom, about using its power to impose its will on other nations?

I can just hear the catcalls now from those who prefer to accuse us of imperialism at the drop of a hat -- from those who spread the malicious myth that we attacked Iraq to confiscate its oil. These drive-by verbal assassins have always spewed their bile with impunity. They've never even considered apologizing for their propaganda -- propagandists don't -- though we not only declined to exploit Iraqi oil for our benefit, but have generously engaged in a comprehensive program to rebuild the country.

I hear even harsher catcalls coming from the same people -- who also blame us for the destruction wrought in Iraq by sectarian and terrorist mayhem following our removal of Saddam Hussein. They're certainly entitled to their opinion.

While no one wants America gratuitously to alienate the international community, should the primary focus of our foreign policy be to ingratiate ourselves to foreign nations?

But if Hillary and her cohorts are so concerned about America's image, maybe it's time they quit slandering their commander in chief to the rest of the world, wrongly accusing him of having lied us into war and of having attacked Iraq "unilaterally" just so they can rehabilitate themselves politically.

If they are so concerned about America's so-called "unilateralism," they should quit hypocritically demanding we abandon our multilateral approach to Iran and North Korea. They should muzzle colleagues like Dick Durbin and Ted Kennedy, who tell the world that our military routinely engages in prisoner torture and abuse for sadistic sport.

Democrats indignantly deny they are soft on defense. But we are engaged in a protracted war, and when campaigning, their leading presidential candidates choose to dwell on how America is faring in international polls.

I don't know about you, but I'd just as soon our next president -- like the current one -- be a little less preoccupied with international popularity contests and more dedicated to keeping America secure.

Amen! I am sick of America bashers. These ancient Democrats have been sucking off the public teat so long. Who but America does the amount of good that we do? We should stop all foreign aid! Who cares what some guy in Bali thinks of us. They all want to come here.

No, It isn't just you
"Is it just me, or is anyone else getting tired of these people ceaselessly, instinctively siding with America's foreign critics and slamming the United States? Sometimes it seems that Hillary and company are as concerned about their poll numbers in France and Germany as in the United States."
I cannot stand it, as many of the rregulars know...and I don't have to. So, c'mon Kimberly, make my day...

Just for Fun
Do you remember Gordon SInclair?

Where have all the flowers gone?
Hillary and her anti -Americanism is nothing new. She has positioned herself by not representing the best interests of the people of the USA and defending the Constitution, but by thinking "globally". She has the banner of the aforrementioned husband,Kerry,Carter, etc. and also some of the Supremes who look abroad to SECULARISM, opposing the great traditions that have been established here, and upheld by most Republican leaders over the years. We are in a battle for the heart and soul of this country, God bless Limbaugh and his kind!

Amen!
I'm sick of the imperialist rhetoric. Like most of the spew, it's baseless in fact: name me one country we've conquered. And whose oil have we confiscated? If we were imperialists, they'd be speaking American English in lots of places.
It's either naivete or malicious evil to espouse the idea that "being liked" should be the goal of our policies. It's beyond me how one can make it a priority to be admired.
I am appalled by the idea that we should try to win the approval of some corrupt thug country who's taking money under the table, which is the real reason some of those "allies" don't support us.
Our Democrats are hypersensitive to any hint that they are not patriotic, but their MO is invariably to blame America first when some admired country doesn't love us. They are patriotic to Europe, and Russia it appears, before America.

Idiot Dems will LOSE in 2008
I may be completely off base on this, but in the last week I have become extremely optimistic about the prospects for 2008. I now think that the Republicans will recapture both houses of Congress and will keep the White House. (Giuliani will be the next President IMO). The 2006 election loss - which in historical terms was actually smaller than the average mid-term loss for the party in power - was a blessing in disguise for the Republicans for two reasons: 1) it will force the entrenched Republcian fat cat politicos to rethink their drift from the rank and file who had elected them, and 2) the American people will be (and already are!) exposed to the abject idiocy of the Democrats, a party which still has not come up with a new idea since JFK. Pelosi, Reid, Murtha and company are doing an excellent job so far demonstrating their incompetency and breathtaking lack of intelligence. Hillary's false veneer, thin to begin with, is already cracking, exposing the real, power-greedy termagent underneath.

The next two years will be a fun ride!

Yeah, but what about France?
Can Hillary file to be their ruler?
She would be perfect for a while.
Maybe after she kept feeding them cake, they would then take the next historical step.

You Idiot Conservatives!!
I love the way you guys like to paint Democrats as imperialist. Have you looked at our current president now? He is acting a lot like an imperialist. His administration is taking way too much power, but you guys don't want to admit it because it would be blaming fault on Conservatives which is what you guys are against. But I guarentee you that if Hillary were a Conservative and Bush was a Democrat then you guys would be praising Clinton. It is all a double standard with you guys and it is pathetic. You guys are allowed to speak out whent there is a Democrat in office but the second a Democrat does it they are called un-American. Do you guys remember the rhetoric Conservatives used when we were in Bosnia? It was the same thing we are saying about Iraq but it was ok because you guys are Conservatives. You guys have a double-standard and it is pathetic. Why don't you get cured of your tunnel vision and be open to different opinions.

Globalists
The problem here is that the most arrogant of the Left -- Politicians, Media, and Entertainers -- rarely see themselves as Americans, but rather as "Citizens of the World." These are the same people who believe that Communism and Radical Islam are morally equivalant to American-Style liberty and freedom. That's the whole idea behind "The Most Holy Tenet of Diversity" and multiculturalism. Everything's the same. One is not superior to another. Saying otherwise proves your intolerance, and intolerance is an invalid viewpoint.

They envision a world run by like-minded people that supports only like-minded ideas. They, being the Party Elite, will have all the creature comforts they should expect as the "Most Equal" members of society, and they will not experience the toil and tribulations of the ignorant masses who will have to support them. Most of them don't even understand that now. The biggest Liberals in congress and entertainment are also the richest people in their fields. Rarely, if ever, did they have to actually work a real job to aquire that wealth. They either inherited it, married into it, or got it doing a job that pays far more than it produces.

Trolling for International Admiration
The outrageous position of this "woman" (Hillary) is beyond any good sense. I think it's time that we call the Democrats for what they are "traitors". Just look to this old man, who all of a sudden found himself an army experts, trying to suffocate our troops and endangering them by limiting their possibility of doing their job. The Democrats are traitors! They must be stopped before our country will be doomed. I hope the Republican Party will wake up before they will be put on their knees under the future dictatorship of the next President - Hillary Clinton - God forbid!

I caught RUSH Limbaugh in his FIRST LIE
Rush Limbaugh:

(In reply to those who accuse the oil industry of polluting the planet-specifically the environmental impact of oil spills)

2/21/07 show 1:40pm.

"Crude oil is ORGANIC! You fry your chicken in its derivatives!"

Heh Rush! What derivatives? Kerosene, gasoline, ???
Maybe you mean MOTOR OIL! What weight oil would you suggest to lock in the flavor? Straight 30W or 10W40? Should I use detergent or non-detergent???

misterfact@yahoo.com

Just thought I'de post it here just in case this kind of sickness runs in the family!

Globalists
Yes, but we have our own share of globalists in the Republican party.

Dom
You said, "I love the way you guys like to paint Democrats as imperialist. Have you looked at our current president now? He is acting a lot like an imperialist. I think you are EXACTLY right.

No condemnation of Saddam
“Since before we attacked Iraq, they have mercilessly excoriated Bush for his ‘radical unilateralism,’ his ‘go-it-alone’ approach. It never occurred to them to criticize, say, France or Germany, for not doing the right thing by joining the coalition against Saddam Hussein, despite believing the exact same things we believed about his weapons of mass destruction, his dangerous ties to terrorism and his serial violations of post-war treaties and U.N. resolutions.”

Nor did it occur to them to utter a single word against Saddam for his years-long defiance of those resolutions.

Her Royal Highness, Hillary, President by divine right.

First Lie?
That's no what Al Franken said, but hten there's something about guys named AL

Old europe's new problem
Whenever we're considering the fact that we just can't seem to do anything right according to the French, Germans, Spanish and even many of the Brits, we have to remember one fact: thanks to the huge and growing Muslim populations in these countries, they are prisoners in their own houses. By refusing to acknowledge the reality of a large and growing segment that refuses to assimilate and increasingly leans toward radicalism, they are "riding a tiger" that's developing a mighty appetite.

Misterfact
You're totally off-topic, and your post has nothing to do with anything on this column or the thread.

You're so eager to try to discredit the WRONG Limbaugh that you ended up making yourself look foolish.

If we were ever admired why was it?
If we were ever admired by the governments of other countries when and why was it? It was when we bailed out or defended those countries from ruthless totalitarian regimes or some terrible disaster. In other words they admired us for risking and giving the lives of our people and their freedoms by either giving freely or using our military ruthlessly. And for it we have received brief if any thanks.

A large percentage of the world's people love us and want to move here. There are those that are jealous of all that we have, just as there are US citizen's who are embarrassed about all that we have. We will change neither of those. There is a large minority in the world that hate us and wish to destroy all those things that make this country so great and desirable. They can be changed by death and nothing else.

No one can earn respect in the world by 'group meetings ending with group hugs.' We cannot buy respect and admiration by spending more and more of our hard earned wealth in countries with corrupt governments as we have tried for numerous decades.

We rebuilt our friends and foes after WWII, little more than a generation ago and how many today truly even care that we gave so much. Those that noticed at all will soon pass.

We didn't create the mess in the Middle East, the Europeans and the UN did. We just bought in to the mess because it was the "European" thing to do.

Yet for those that think we can just "be nice" to our present enemies and opponents in the world have not paid much attention to history.

The leaders of the Islamists movement, both Sunni and Shiite, hate who we are and represent which, unless we convert to Islam or bow down to them, will never change. Our other two primary opponents China and Russia desire what they have always desired no matter what style of government. They want to be world players preferably the dominate players. None of this is new to the world. The desires of our opponents have not changed in thousands of years, even though we have only been their focus for 230 years.

Remember the world Jimmy Carter left us after just four years. We are still cleaning up.

Hillary, et al, with the attitudes they have, can only make things worse, though the left will feel better for a year or two. Then hard reality will strike us all as it did on 9-11-2001----------------yet this time!

Billary - fine example or arrogance
WHOEVER VOTES FOR HER IS AN IDIOT, SHE WILL FINISHING TRASH OUR COUNTRY WITH HER AND BILL IN THE WHITE HOUSE AGAIN. SHE WOULD PROBABLY DECLARE HERSELF QUEEN AND BECOME A DICTATOR. GOD FORBID I WOULD BE AROUND TO SEE THAT.

Whose Good Opinion Matters?
Seriously, who out there has the moral authority to judge us? Let's look at "the rest of the world" for a moment, shall we?

Europe, authors of colonialism, slavery, and the Holocaust? Are we supposed to crave their good opinion?

Africa, hotbed of corruption, tribalism, neo-marxism, and violence?

China, where dissent is crushed with tanks? Russia, whose dealings with Chechnya were not exactly taken from How To Win Friends and Influence People?

The Middle East... where to even begin to state why there isn't a single country in the Middle East whose collective opinion on anything other than "is this a good rug" matters to me.

South America, tell me what country there I should admire sufficiently that their opinion matters on anything other than coffee.

Still More Laughs!!!!
Hey sedonaman, why is it that you like to criticize other countries for simply disagreeing? Conservatives have a black-and-white view of the world, you guys deal in absolutes. If you aren't with us then you are against us. France can disagree with us and still support us, and you guys can't see that. Conservaitves also love to criticize the UN when debating with a liberal, but like you said in your comment Saddam violated UN sanctions. Why is it that you somehow love to us the UN when it furthers your point, but when debating with a liberal you use it against us? Pick a side.

Iy you don't blindly support Bush
your against us. Regardless of whether he is sacrificing GIs to save face let's stand behind him and his Little Big Horn/Iraq fiasco! Seems to me that those European countries that didn't blindly follow Bush into the Iraq war are stting quite nicely now but I guess I should be condemning them for daring to disagree with Lord Bush.. Hey at least the GOP Congress attacked the french fry.. and the backslappers cheered with glee!

Dom
Trading with our enemies, voting against us does not meet my definition of friend.

DOM, one of the points is libs say use the UN Bush did, now you're criticizing sewdonman for pointing that out.

Sometimes the world is black and white, you know like the expression "you can't be half-pregnant"

correction

Sewdonman= sedonaman

Gale
"WHOEVER VOTES FOR HER IS AN IDIOT, SHE WILL FINISHING TRASH OUR COUNTRY WITH HER AND BILL IN THE WHITE HOUSE AGAIN. SHE WOULD PROBABLY DECLARE HERSELF QUEEN AND BECOME A DICTATOR. GOD FORBID I WOULD BE AROUND TO SEE THAT."

Do you have anything to back up this ridiculous post? Seems to me the only idiots in the political arena are the 30% of the hardcore conservatives who still support the unecessary wartime president.

Pro-American
While the Democrat(ick) Party has shown us with their words and deeds that they are not pro-American, we must not be blind to the fact that many in the Republican Party do not always have America's best interests in mind. Read Dick Morris' column today if you need a clue.

Trust the GOP?
This grand experiment of government of the people, by the people, for the people is being usurped by government of the corporations, by the corporations, for the corporations.
The primary responsibility of the U.S. government is to protect the territorial integrity and people of this country. They have completely abdicated this responsibility. Both parties have been complicit in this. We are being told it is not possible to control our borders, enforce our laws, and thereby control our destiny as a nation. Hogwash. We are being sold out by corporations intent on importing workers for jobs that can't be exported with the taxpayers paying the true costs, financial and human. If we act like sheep and don't stop the inundation across our borders, we will lose our country without a bleat.

Dom
No, I suspect you yourself know nothing of imperialisim or its history, or its practices, or its ...

Bosnia? UN troops are still there. Kosovo? NATO troops are still there. Were either of them in the least bit representative of our national interests? No. And what did we do with our use of forces there? You think we are imperialist, we did a lousy job building those two as colonies.

The rest of your argument is specius.

sorry
Specious

Who's our PR Rep.?
Did we fire him? The Dem's don't seem to want the job; they just want to make us look worse. Instead, they waste the time on Hillery; look at her! they start with a sow's ear and there's a silk purse present. There are just too many beggars on the international street to deal with. Let's let them starve a little. Maybe we need to hear the happy sound of groveling like it used to be.

a little snip here, a little there
Just like the dems are demanding the Iraqis stand up, so should the Euros. We should cut back on our troops in NATO and close at least 1 base in Germany. Additionally, bring home 20000 from Korea, and 15000 from Japan. (Our troops in Korea would be overrun if the little pervert actually tried a full scale invasion) (Japan could be be reinforced quickly from the 50th state) If our troops cant bring freedom and peace to Iraq then they cant do the same in Africa. Let the French and Germans be the heros in Africa

Testosterone Irony
As a free and wealthy nation in a treacherous world, we need to deal with the irrational perceptions of jealous nations from a position of savvy and strength.

Let's look at the Democrat options:

Kerry...Gore...Edwards...
Lots of venom, no testosterone. Wouldn't want a sissy backing me up in a fight. (Think Carter...Kennedy...and Clinton's Mogadishu.)

Hillary...
More testosterone than the guys and less feminine, too, yet maintains her shrill. Both her strategies of domestic class warfare and foreign appeasement inspire the global fight we don't want (remember, they're jealous; best to be humble and gracious rather than shrill and elitist).

I'd like to see the menfolk get some of their manhood back. Think Coast Guard...Army...Air Force...Navy...Marine...

And I'd like to see the womenfolk get out of their screechmode (think Orpah...Rosie...) and back into beauty and brains (think Coulter...Malkin...).

The French General/President
Charles Degaul after WWII, decided that he wanted all American troops out of France.

Our Secretary of State was John Foster Dulles. He asked him, "What about the 200,000 that are buried there."

This European snootyness did not just recently start. Those men died to liberate France.

How can we care what those people think of us?
