Poll
Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

I don't care how many times I hear it, I refuse to believe that significant numbers of conservatives will stay home in November and thereby assist the Democratic Party to regain control of Congress.

Democrats and the Old Media have been working hard to create this perception for several months, citing poll after poll to support their claims. It reminds me of the exit poll manipulation orchestrated by the Old Media and Democrat operatives in 2004 to create the GOP-deflating perception that John Kerry was winning big.

But with the unveiling of the Foley scandal, there is an even bigger spring to their step -- kind of like their perverse, gleeful reaction to problems with the delayed federal response to Hurricane Katrina.

Before Foley I gave conservatives more credit than to believe they would sit this election out over their disillusionment with Republicans concerning immigration and domestic spending. My confidence remains after Foley as well, despite push polling and other techniques designed to discourage conservative turnout.

Conservatives are generally rational creatures and sophisticated enough to understand that the national interest will not be served by turning national security over to a party wholly incapable of safeguarding it for the sake of punishing Republicans.

To the argument of some conservatives that losing the election will result in the nation eventually returning to its conservative roots, I say "nonsense." We can't afford the luxury, during time of war and incalculable threats to our national security, our culture, our freedom and our sovereignty, of taking our ball and going home for a few critical years.

I do not believe conservatives will deliver control to the party of tax and spend because Republicans haven't done enough to curb domestic spending. My assessment is reinforced by news that the Bush tax cuts have unleashed a robust economy and explosive federal revenues that have reduced the deficit to 2 percent of GDP, lower than the 2.7 percent average of the last 40 years.

I don't believe conservatives will conspire to assign control over immigration to the wide-open border Democrats, notwithstanding the Republicans' tardy and so-far inadequate response to the immigration problem. My assessment is reinforced by news that Congress passed a measure to erect a 700-mile border fence. Conservative angst forced recalcitrant politicians to act. This is how you get results -- not by replacing a highly imperfect party with an incomparably egregious one.

And I especially don't believe social conservatives, because of their disappointment with Republicans over Foley, will turn to a militantly secular Democratic leadership to protect Washington pages from sexual predators. My assessment is reinforced by the immediate resignation of Foley and the Republican leadership's initiation of comprehensive investigations into the matter, promising full accountability for culpable Republicans.

My optimism that conservatives will not allow the perfect to be the enemy of the good and stay home in November is further enhanced by Democrats recently overplaying their hand on the Foley scandal.

Though they boasted for the longest time that they could trounce Republicans in November by a substantive debate on the issues, they've been studiously avoiding such a debate and resorting only to attacking Bush and scandalmongering. But now that they think the Foley affair is tainting the entire Republican Party, Nancy Pelosi has gotten cocky enough to unveil her agenda for the first 100 hours of her speakership.

She better hope that she hasn't triggered a true national debate on the issues and unwittingly nationalized the congressional elections, something the Republicans hadn't managed to pull off.

Can you imagine the Democrats winning a debate over national security when they've vigorously opposed almost every tool President Bush has tried to use to prosecute the war on terror? How would they gain from a true debate over Iraq, when Democrats still don't have a plan and can't even decide whether they favor withdrawal, "timetables" or "benchmarks"?

Can you imagine Democrats prevailing on a values debate where it would be emphasized that they actively promote the radical homosexual agenda and castigate one of the finest institutional exemplars of traditional values in our nation's history -- the Boy Scouts -- for their moral refusal to permit homosexuals to be scoutmasters? Does Nancy Pelosi truly support the National American Man/Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) or just proudly march in parades with them and receive 90 percent approval from their ACLU enablers? Inquiring minds surely want to know.

It is time for conservatives to ignore the Democrat and Old Media propaganda and vote in even greater numbers in November. If Democrats and the Old Media keep reporting that conservatives are going to stay home, they might be in store for the upset of their lives on Election Day -- just maybe.

Vote Libertarian...
To have the greatest impact on the election ... to reign in the out-of-control Republican party ... DON'T STAY HOME!!!!! VOTE, DAMMIT!

Nothing would shake the political Earth more than a vote for smaller government and lower taxes.

I'm 50 years old and have voted Republican in every election since 1976. After almost two decades, the Republican party won both houses and the Presidency and I was celebrating that there was finally going to be fiscal responsibility restored and that Judges who took their oath to the Constitution would be appointed.

My God! How I've been bitterly disappointed by these fakers. I want to go on record as voting third party for the first time in my life at a time that will have the most POLITICAL IMPACT ... even if the Democrats take both houses, they will still have to combat a Republican President who is way overdue for using his veto power.

Then, we should see a far more responsive Republican party in 2008. Not voting will have less impact than voting Libertarian ... count on it!

David, I wish...
that Conservatives WOULD grow up and vote reasonably...I too do not believe we can play "games" when we are at war.

But the sad fact is that the Dems need do NOTHING. They don't have to convince the American voter NOT to vote for Republicans...Conservative media with all their negativity has already done the job for them.

Was it the Libs who heard the word "Arab" and immediately decided the President wasn't strong on defense because of the Dubai deal? Was it the Libs who demanded the resignation of Senator Lott and who is now making the Foley deal a very big issue?

No, it was/is the so called Conservative Pundits with their sanctimonous whining about all things GOP/Bush.

David, if you REALLY believe that we cannot allow the Dems to take over Congress, you need to sit down with Laura Ingraham, Peggy Noonan and some of your NRO friends...ask them just how much influence do they think they have with Conservatives and Independents...and if that influence isn't convincing their listeners/readers to stay home.

Ask them if they WANT the Dems to take over and remove the tax cuts that brought us this booming economy...sit on the committees that fund our military...confirm / block judge appointments...

And if that isn't enough to get them to back off and give Conservatives / Americans POSITIVE reasons to vote GOP... ask them one more thing...do they really want to lose the "off the record private meetings" and the "bike rides with the president" because when the GOP loses power--so will they...

How to be a fiscal conservative?
One of the biggest problems in this country is the two-party system. The frustration Lone Wolfy, myself, and other conservatives are experiencing is that the Republicans are no better conservatives than the Democrats -- both are the party of Big Government (tm). The Democrats want to maintain a Big Brother nanny-state, but all the Republicans want is a Big Brother military state. The taxes wasted is the same, whether it's to bleeding-heart socialist programs or wasting multi-million dollar missiles shooting at tents and camels with no clear and specified purpose in mind.

Both parties have now showed their complete lack of regard for the U.S. Constitution -- what part of "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, ... shall not be violated" does the President not understand? The terrorists have defeated America by taking away our rights, and both Republicans and Democrats have been complicit in it -- the Democrats by being ivory-tower pacifists, the Republicans by putting their party agenda above the constitution (illegal spying on American citizens, the suspension of habeus corpus, torturing political prisoners). We are no longer the America I was brought up to love.

So, what to do? One suggestion is to send a message by voting Libertarian. The two-party system is firmly entrenched in America, and always will be, but this isn't a wasted vote if it teaches the Republican party to stay true to their original fiscally conservative values.

A more pragmatic suggestion for fiscal conservatives is to make sure the houses of government are split between the parties. With a Republican president and Democratic congress, no laws will be enacted unless they truly express the will of a large majority of Americans. And maybe that will restore moderation and reason to our political discourse -- something which has been notably absent since fall of 2001.

We Cannot Protect the American Family
I say it's abundately clear, the politic's of this age, whether it be democrat or republicain, will not protect the American family nor it's dream. This age is unleashing a brand of evil that devours and infiltrates the heart, the soul, the mind and body. We see it on the news, conseratives and liberals alike protecting the deviants, the child molesters, the preditors alike. Big Bussiness get in the mix as they join the Chamber of Commerece for the Gay, transgender, bi-sexual and tranvesties. Our children being taught in schools across the country, the very big bussiness of prosituting for the cause. The N.E.A. will train our children into the deviant sexual practices of any and all kinds. The governor of Massachusetts upholds the activist courts ruling. It truely is a free for all, all sexual deviancy to the forefront and center. Is it no wonder young women put babies in the trash, cut babies out ot the womb of others. Political powers bring riduline and other drugs to our youths. Are we surpised that our youths go into the schools to kill??? Look at their saddness, pain and needs. Ha, Ha , Ha, The children are denied their youth, their innocence, do we need to wonder why this age is so off kilter. We reap what we sow!!! Now don't we...

Kathy
As far as I can tell, the American Family is probably fine. It's always been fashionable to say that the new generation is being led astray by evil -- whether you think that evil is sex, rock music, video games, or hoop skirts -- and it has historically turned out that this prognosis is always wrong. American history is essentially a long string of scientific, educational, and moral progress. "Think of the children" seems to be the secret password to overriding the Constitution these days, so it's important to consider that most of today's children will become productive, well-adjusted adults, and do our best to make sure our country still stands for greatness and freedom once they become adults.

Hitler Fashion
hrist-

Would you also say hitler is fashionable???????

I certainly will put my vote in
As I'm angry about the possibility of Clinton-cover-uppers retaking the House and Senate, I'll vote AGAINST them (rather than FOR the Republicans--who, unfortunately are too much like Canada's Mulroney-tories).

Like Limbaugh, I can't believe
that the conservatives are going to surrender to the Democrats, and through them the U.N. and the terrorists.

Please! Please! Stay home!
Isn't that what the Democrats and the media are hoping the Republicans, Conservatives, and Christian Right are going to do. We're supposed to be so frustrated with the Mark Foley scandal, we're going to forget 9/11, the War in Iraq, National Security, Osama, Ahmadinejad, Hugo Chavez, and North Korea? We're going to sit this out because the Democrats reports to the world we've had it with the Republicans. Since when does the Democrats speaks for the Republicans, Conservatives, and the Christian Right. The Mark Foley scandal was meant to be just that. A scandal. The Democrats have been nothing but loafers since 9/11 and that's all they have to bring to the November elections is a scandal. They love gay behavior and they want to make Foley an issue for the elections. If they loved the children so much like they want the American people to believe, this information would have come out long time ago. Foley is a grown man and he alone is responsible for what he did. Not Dennis Hastert or the GOP.

WHO is saying that?
Let's see - WHO is saying the Foley debacle will be keeping folks home from the polls? Ohhh! The silly LIBERALS are saying that. The party of the porn belt.

Then it must be true, huh.

Kathy
How does Hitler have anything to do with what I wrote? Formulate your arguments logically and coherently, then I will respond.

November looms
The solution to the Socialist-Democrat Party isn't for Republicans to stay home in November.

Some would say it would "teach the Bush Republicans a lesson".

Wrong. It would hand over control of the house and senate to the Socialist-Democrat Party, along with the chairs to the committees.

Republicans need to stop the S-D's in November. To retain the house and senate Republican majorities would send a strong message to the world. To hand it over to the S-D's will tell people like Chavez and Castro that the USA is moving towards socialism.

Oh come'on Limbaugh
Let's face it, if you didn't believe it, you wouldn't have felt the need to write this article.

Phylo out.

DavidMac
"To retain the house and senate Republican majorities would send a strong message to the world."

The strong message that we act with impunity, torturing our enemies and alienating our allies? This is not the America my forefathers died for.

Chavez and Castro are charlatans who just want to make themselves famous. Ignore them and they will go away.

Ignore the Constitution and you throw away 200+ years of democracy and freedom. THAT is what I, and other conservatives, are incensed about.

I wish it weren't true,
but I think Limbaugh is wrong and that many conservatives *will* be abandoning the Republican party this November.

State by state it may be different
Here in Illinois, the State Republican Party is controlled by oppoetunistic liberals who are satisfied to be in the minority as long as they can earn fees from the Democratic administration and investment banking houses for which they lobby, The State ticket -- governor, other state offices -- contain not one nominee who could be called by any stretch of the imagination a conservative.

In the primary, two conservative aspirants took more than one half of the vote, but the liberal nominee won with a plurality. Unfortunately a former Republican governor emerged from his shell and said that the party did not need the conservative vote. The two defeated nomineees have never banded together to aske for a common platform or at least a sign that they were being heard.

As a consequence, the conservatives have adopted the posture of not voting, or writing in for a third party candidate -- at least for governor.

After being given the blue ice treatment in 2000 (Bush overflies the State to go elsewhere and the only mark of his passage is blue ice falling from the sky), Ken Mehlman now wants to help elect two crucial House seats by doing some fund raisers -- after, of course, he takes mnoney from the fat cats back to DC.

The Conservatives here trust neither Mehlman nor his daddy, Karl Rove.

So we are working for Peter roskam, Dave McSweeney, and Andrea Zinga, but we are behind in all three races. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has thrown millions of dollars into Illinois. Where is the national Republican Congressional Campaign Committee.

We now see demands for blind party loyalty, when the clear missteps and errors in judgment have fouled our waters. Loyalty up, presupposes loyalty down and trust demands a sense of honor and responsibility on the part of the party headers.

This is where the Party now falls short.

I'm not staying home
and I don't even live in the United States at the present time. Unlike most of my Canadian peers, I realize that if the United States is turned over to the Democrats, Canada will go down for the third time and all that will be seen are bubbles....

This is about more than foot-stomping and screaming about cutting Goodies for other people and keeping your own. We're talking End Of The World here, kids. Get your heads out of your (and other peoples') shorts for once and pay attention!

Polling Methods
Several experts have pointed out that conventional polling methods, especially telephone usage, skew results towards Democrats, because the transition of many Republican households to cell phones leaves landlines disproportionately representative of Democratic voters. Some polls are acknowledged to have a bias towards Democrats, such as the generic Congressional question, which I have heard more than once has a 5% leaning towards Democrats, while others maintain impartiality, but after the exit polling of 2004 you have to be suspicious. I woukld imagine that ever since the Polls chose Dewey over Truman in 1948 they have be taken with [more than] a grain of salt.

Worship the party
if you like.........I'm a conservative but won't vote for any incumbent, but I will vote.......they all need to go..talk about an earthquake, tsunami, devasting blow to the political elite! I am in favor of randomly selecting citizens from the street as candidates...it is my opinion American government would be enhanced exponentially.

NRA
I agree with your post and let me add this to it. This electin cycle puts us between a very big rock and a very hard place.

Incumbants are hard to remove. If we stay home, or worse, vote democrat, we are likely to have a dem congress for more than two years. Think of the dammage that could be done in a fit of revenge.

To your list of objectionable possibilities "forced healthcare, higher taxes, socialism, pacifism, and outright treachery of the libdolts" add Liberal Activist Judges.

The only thing we can do is plug our noses and pull the "R" lever. Then almost immediately start looking for and working for a conservative candidate to run against the incumbant next election cycle. Nothing gets a politician's attention faster than being unelected, or almost unelected.

Uh, tanabear . . .
"If Bush does sign the Secure Fence Act in 10 days it will suffer a pocket veto."

Since signing a bill and a pocket veto are OPPOSITE acts . . . how can both happen to the same bill???

And Phylo, get back in:

"Oh come'on Limbaugh
Let's face it, if you didn't believe it, you wouldn't have felt the need to write this article.

"Phylo out. Oh come'on Limbaugh
Let's face it, if you didn't believe it, you wouldn't have felt the need to write this article.

"Phylo out."

I know its early in the morning as I write this, but I'm not THAT asleep!! What ARE you mumbling about?

hrist...
posts, "Chavez and Castro are charlatans who just want to make themselves famous. Ignore them and they will go away."

Like Hitler did in the 1930's.

hrist posts, "The strong message that we act with impunity, torturing our enemies and alienating our allies? This is not the America my forefathers died for."

No American has tortured anybody. You can't cite one case where any detainee was tortured beyond embarassment or fear. Torture is maiming. We haven't done that.

Our forefathers fought and died for FREEDOM. That means we need to fight and die for FREEDOM from terrorism, from nuclear bully-boys, from egocentric socialists in Venezuala and Cuba.

I will vote Democrat.
You folks are so emotional that you make 'all or nothing' decisions. Voting Democrat is not a vote for the end of the world, especially in a nonpresidential election. Not all Repubs need to voted out but a lot of them do; same for the Dems. Punish bad behavior and reward good. I recommend we send new folks to Washington that aren't part of the system. We need new ideas, fresh blood, youth, energy. We need leaders that can reassure other countries that we are not out to dominate the world. The bully always loses in the end. We need a leader that understands the difference between being right and being happy. It is the hardest thing in the world to let someone else have their way without telling them how right you are and therefore how wrong they are. Until we have a leader that knows how to show respect for the person that has a different opinion, as if their opinion was equal to our own, as if they have as much right to be on this earth as we do, that enjoys learning why one's opponent has the opinion that they do, then we continue to regress.

National suicide
Staying at home or voting for a third-party candidate is nothing short of committing national suicide. Should fiscal or social conservatives punish the individual Republican incumbents with either of these reactionary choices, they will assure the win by Democrats who offer nothing more than being a far more dangerous "other."

I cannot, I will not throw away my vote to put any Democrat in the power seat to affect the direction of this country's fate.

Many blog sites have been infected by Democrats claiming to be conservative Republicans who want to "throw the bums out." The false self-identification of these Lefty-socialists is just another weapon of demoralization in their bag of tricks to affect the outcome of the election.

Put A Thinking Cap On!!!
Robin-

Let's think for one moment, if possible, not all idea's are right one's. It is more important to choose the right answers than to go along with any new idea. Self-discipline, morals, values and principals deliver better soultions to the ills of wrong behavior.

Limbaugh column
I don't buy into to the polls either, so I am in agreement with Mr. Limbaugh that there are only two answers to this for Conservatives: ignore the propaganda, and resolve to turn out in great numbers to vote for any candidate who stands for Conservative principles, who values our freedom, our traditional culture, our way of life.

To throw in the towel and sit out the next election would be exactly the wrong thing to do. The polls, political handicappers, finger pointing Democrats together with the petulance and emotionalism of some of those who post their comments here pales into insignificance and is rubbish compared to the prospect of being governed by Liberal extremists, socialists, who will purge Conservative ideas as a factor of political discourse.

Conservatives, independents, and any of you who have any concern that the liberal left Democrats will hasten our way to Socialism, I say GET OUT AND VOTE, even if you have to hold your nose.

As the saying goes...
"All politics is local"

I don't think the House of Reps is going to be affected by this Foley BS. "Y'know, my representative, Joe Blow, has always been a great Republican. But this Foley thing, well... I guess I won't vote for old Joe this time".

Is that what's going to happen? No way.

It's more like: "Most Republicans may be scum, but old Joe's my man, so I guess I'll vote for him again".

The Dems and MSM are full of wishful thinking. The polls are full of BS. The only poll that counts takes place on the first Tuesday in November.

You cannot afford to not vote in Nov.
The liberal media and their associated supporters would love to plant the mental suggestion in your mind that the best approach this November is to just stay home and not vote. Look at the recent AARP political commercial on Television. Several people repete several times to not vote before finally saying for us to first understand how each canidate stands on the issues. The real message here is for Republicians to not vote! You can bet Democrats will be voting my friend.

The Liberals are also trying to get another Ross Perot for the 2008 presidential election to take votes away from the Republican canidate. Ala the Clinton victory. Some big name like Oprah would do the trick they are now planning. Please don't forget that Mister Foley was only one person and not an entire political party. Voting against everyone that is running on the Republician ticket because of what that one person did is just not an intelligent thing to do. Look at the overall platform of the Democrats, as well as their track record on handling world affairs and raising taxes, etc. and then look at the Republician platform. To just vote against one due to some issue you may not agree with to vote for a Democrat is something we will all be sorry for down the road.

The AARP canard
AARP is energizing its base with crybabying about the Medicare "doughnut" that means the seniors will not have their cozy coverage at the taxpayers' expense for several months. Good little socialist organization that it is, they have opted to attack Big Drug Companies. Ooh, Big Earl isn't affecting their self-absorption as much. Too bad that they aren't thinking about the debt that their entitlement program is inflicting on their grandchildren.

Limmy's laments
This is what you gotta believe if you believe a Dem majority in either or both houses will be the coming down of America.
You gotta believe: A. The Dems as a group are reckless traitors.
B. Bush's veto pen is out of ink.
C. He forgets how to write with his veto pen in his hand.
D. He's a closet Dem masquerading as a compassionate conservative.
E. He knows how to pocket veto the Secure Fence Act but would absolutely forget how to do that if nasty legislation made it to his desk that came from the Dems.
F. All the crud that we've been exposed to during this and the last Congress was all Bush's fault because he never used the veto pen.
Hm.. No wonder some of the posters above are so dang terrified that the Dems might win one. The answer is.... All of the above.

end of the world....
I won't bow down to any liberal MSM "poll" that is manufactured by the left. The Dems are bullies in the playground of life. The most twisted, double standard elitists who fashion themselves above everything and everyone including their lack of God. Socialism is tame compared to the dem's agenda of the total decimation of America--Land of the Free. THey take that last part and attribute it to everyone but Americans. Their haughty "better than thou" responses to ANY Republican scandal they can scare up or create (when needed)is sickening. Unless Republicans wake up and vote in November--well--let's not forget that the Blessed Mother DID warn of entire nations being annihilated if people didn't stop offending God. There is no greater "group" as a whole that is offensive to God and His creation than the Democrats. We could be one of those nations.

Onlineanalyst
Finally! Someone who sees the AARP the same way I do! My husband and I have refused their advances for years. We will have nothing to do with organizations that are totally fixated on "getting theirs" without regard for what is best for the country at large. That goes for all unions as well.

Huh?
hrist posts, "The strong message that we act with impunity, torturing our enemies and alienating our allies? This is not the America my forefathers died for."
-----------------------------------------------

Which allies have we alienated? The French? Never were much of an ally from 1900 on, look at their relations with the US over the past 60 years. In case you haven’t noticed they’ve been a back biting beotch since June 6th 1944. The Germans? Let me guess, you don't know anything about WW1 or WW2. The Russians? We still have to guard against nuclear attack from them.

Just who are your forefathers, Mexicans? Our own countrymen suffered more at our own hands in the Civil War then these pampered fat towel heads have ever dreamed of facing today. Ask the interned Japanese how the prisoners today fare compared to them in WW2. They spent years in primitive camps with no trials, or even charges.

I Will Vote Republican
I'm going to vote, and I'm voting GOP. The MSM propaganda has no effect on me.

But I will say this:

If the Democrats take the House, they've already promised to defund the war in Iraq and undo the Bush Tax Cuts. Defunding the war will be the Dem's way of recinding their vote authorizing the invasion of Iraq without an honest vote saying that is what they are doing. Democrats in Congress did the same thing to our troops in Vietnam, and it resulted in an ignominious retreat from the embassy rooftops. We'll see the same thing again in Baghdad if the Dems cut off monetary support to the military.

And what will happen then? Massive demoralization of our servicemen; plummeting recruiting; maybe even a massive wave of officer resignations: Why continue to serve when you know that the Congress won't back you up?

Into the power vacuum in Iraq will rush in Iran, Turkey, and Syria, effectively carving up the country and doing to it what was previously done to Lebanon. The U.S. will be not only not on the offense, but will be in full retreat:

Democrats promise to gut NSA wiretapping, financial transaction tracking, kill the Patriot Act, and close down Gitmo. Current terrorist detainees will either be cut loose, or let loose in our domestic prison system. Intelligence gathering will effectively cease to exist, and America will be left utterly deaf and blind to what the enemy is doing.

And without the battle for Iraq to occupy them, the Jihadist movement will be free to resume offensive operations in the Continental U.S. Imagine the suicide bombers and I.E.D. makers of Iraq setting up shop at your local bus stop and mall. The Democrats will get alot of us killed if they come to power.

Meanwhile, tax receipts are at record highs and the national deficit is half of what it was when Bush took office 6 years ago. So why do the Dems STILL want to raise taxes anyway? Power. They have no power over people who are well off and who don't need the government. Socialists such as the Democrats can't stand this. They will raise taxes not because it is sound economic policy, but to confiscate individual wealth and turn us into a nation of destitute paupers, or as near to that as they can get. Then we will be under the power of the Socialists.

Vote independent in TN
The conservatives in TN do not have to vote republican or democrat this November.
They can vote to Ed Choate for senate.
As an independent without money I understand what America is going thru (sorry, I am feeling like a democrat saying that) and I will do anything to make America strong again (now I feel like a republican).

The conservatives in America become corrupt by selling themselves to the highest bidder.

The conservatives became weak, by the simple fact of allowing our own government to break our own laws.

We have,
Federal Government officials allowing an illegal to enter our country,

we have Local and State officials not punishing the illegal when they are caught inside the country ,

We have the senate and the congress passing laws that are not laws to solve the immediate problems of the country (lets close the border now, “they say” but in reality the laws they make only enter in effect years from now)

When they pass a law or budget for a specific implementation of it, they change the “rules” and they use the money for something else, leaving us all true conservatives with an interrogation mark above our head, looking disturbed but with amazement on how did they pulled that Big Huge Rabbit out of that small hat.

By compromising, and allowing what they knew it was wrong to become law (Abortion, Sodomy law relaxation, etc.) the conservative became weak and they will need a lot of B-12 shots to revive them again. Some are so weak that they will never be well again.

They conveniently forgot that our government, a republic was based (because it is apparent that this is not the case anymore) in biblical laws and values. This is what made America strong in the past. What do we do now? The only solution is to vote for independents that will not compromise and will try to pull all true conservatives together to take over the government so America becomes a republic again instead of a half democratic and half republic. By the way, why are we exporting democracy? Should we not export republic?

If you are going to vote in TN and you are a conservative look at http://www.edchoateforsenate.com and then make your decision. If you are registered to vote but decided not to vote, look at the site, maybe this will convince you to vote liberal, because I could be too conservative (or crazy) for you. If you do not believe in voting or will not vote at all in this election I pity you. The act of not voting is anti American and your irresponsible attitude shows how much you love America.

Republicans voting.
Personally I don't know how polls are taken, but suspect we have a case of deciet going on regarding the numbers that claim they will vote for the Democrats. All the Foley scandal has done for me is make me more determined to find out who we are voting for before they get into office. I live in a Blue state, and believe that in fact it is actually a Red state if people would just vote instead of just talking about it. I hope this year we will be sending a Republican to replace Maria Cantwell who has systematically voted against everything I and others I know stand for while bragging how she stopped the drilling in ANWR and the increase of Minimum wage because it might have lowered our states Minimum Wage. She fights for immigrant rights because our farmers use them to pick their crops rather than hiring locals like they once did. Our crime rate is skyrocketing under the liberal leadership, yet people still vote for them in this state. I don't know when we became such a bunch of welfare babies here, but it is time for a change. This used to be the best state in the union for education and everything else. Since the liberals took control of it, it has gone downhill.

I hope people wake up and vote, not doing so is just handing the nuthouse over to the inmates.

Conservatives staying home
I agree that we shall not stay home and allow Pelosi, Rangel et al to become the majority. I am not happy with this congress and President on the border issue, however I am happy with the tax cuts and the WOT and these well out weigh the one issue I am angry about. I do think that in the next 3 election cycles we can get true conservatives elected and kick the earmark happy congressmen out of office. No need to bite off our noses to spite our faces, we just need to work within the framework set up and get rid of Stevens, Graham etc at a later date.

Pictures are worth a thousand words....
While all the wonderfully thought out remarks to this column makes one think, pictures of the "Moonbat Brigades" latest will no doubt cement the fact that the left has taken the deep plunge off the sanity pier.

Well said. All the GOP angst about voters not turning out arises from the same inherent polling bias that gave us the 2004 election exit polls. (Only when another independent event, like an election, disproves their results, can the validity of polls be accurately evaluated. Most of the time they are as unaccountable as the NYT editorial board.)
The polling methodology oversamples "blue" areas because population is concentrated there - but the red areas still beat the blue ones in percentage of the total population. So don't be discouraged by the polls; they don't sample me and thee anyway. Limbaugh is right. Overall, the American people are a lot less silly than politicians and the MSM.

david is right
As is BrianR. When you get down to it, people will vote for their guy, regardless of party affiliation. That is how it usually goes in House elections and it will hold true this time as well.

I'm not happy with Repuglicans...
...but if you think for one minute that I am going to vote for the likes of Maria Cant(think)well here in Washington state, or enable the horror of Nancy Pelosi or the party of Ted Kennedy setting the national agenda, think again.

Vote the Alternative?
What alternative is there. It is obvious that some of the comments are from those designed to keep you home. Don't fall for that ruse. Limbaugh is right. What are we supposed to do, take our football and go home in a huff to our loving Democrat household. Not!! The idea of turning over our country to a party that is being influenced by these radical Bush hate mongers is incomprehensible to me. Read the e-mails from the "stay at home" crowd. Do you see anything constructive? Same old, same old, no agenda, just blame and bash. I can't speak for anyone but me and my family. I have been a conservative since I helped put the Gipper in office and I don't quit because everything isn't perfect. I will not listen to he lies from the Left. I choose to believe that our best chance is to change what is imperfect with the Republican party and not to embrace a group with no ideas and a world view filled with pessimism and defeat.

Republican problems

are of Republican manufacture.

By "building democracy" in Iraq rather than conquering Iraq and placing an American in charge, we not only debased our people to being servants to their inferiors, we failed to do what was necessary to win the War on Terror. Namely, establish a base of operations in Iraq, launch attacks on Iran and Syria, and bring Islam to its knees.

By not promptly correcting the problem of illegal aliens, Republicans have exacerbated the problem, and strengthened the view of them as being the party of money and of business. Too much anymore have I heard everything justified by its monetary value. Comments implying Americans are lazy, don't help Republicans' image, either.

The downside of President Reagan's term was that he brought so many Democrats and other liberals over to the Republican party with him. While this might help the party win elections, it dilutes the conservative values of the party.

The only way to save the nation is to turn it more conservative. The only way to do that is to sieze control (figuratively speaking) of the educational system and media. And I don't know how we can wrest control of both from the hands of liberals who A) spent decades gaining that control and B) tend to go into both professions in greater numbers than do conservatives.

Grand Old Party vs. Greedy New Party
The issue for me is how to get the Republican Party back to governing like Nixon, Reagan, Bush 41, who were competent, skilled, ruthless and shrewd on national security. That's the real GOP. The Greedy New Party governs by lies and spin and thinks it can get away with anything--it's disgusting and non-American. I'd say the NK blast was the last straw. I'm sick of pipsqueak nations like Iran and NK outsmarting the U.S. - they could never pull this crap on Nixon. I don't care, Dem or Repub, I want an American leader like Roosevelt, Kennedy, Nixon or Bush 41 - ruthless, skillful and shrewd. If we don't get back to a truly American government, instead of this non-American junk we've got now, I see a nuclear holocaust in the future-North Korean nukes exploded by Al Queada.

How green is that grass?

Nixon governored like a socialist - but he did know how to end a war even with a whiny bunch of w*ssies in congress. Bush 41 got exactly what he wanted, UN support and a broad coalition of several nations. Because of that he only won half the war and was forced to leave Saddam in charge for the next person to deal with, a repeat of Korea. And we all see how well that is working out.

solo
Thank you for the link. I'm amazed that most democrats don't even realize what their party has come to. I'm sending this to everyone I know.
The rest of you, if you want these kinds of people in charge of our future, just stay home. This may be the lunatic fringe, but it is cancerous.

On Voting and Not:
As a Conservative, to not vote is not an option. To not cast ones ballot on election day is to disrespect, by omission, the hundreds of thousands of markers upon this Earth marking the graves those who lost their life protecting our right to vote. I don't care if the election is only for dog catcher and he's a RINO, I will still vote. There may even be offices or issues that repulse or confound me, so I will leave these parts of the ballot blank. I may not like the lessor of two evils, but not voting is committing a secular, but nonetheless immoral, sin as a citizen.

To go to the polls on election day is to consecrate, in each of our own small ways, the graves of the fallen, the pain of the wounded, the lost limbs of the maimed. They who have shown up at the battles of this country, no matter the cause be noble or folly, deserve our attendance at the polls on election day, no matter the candidates or the issue. To vote is more than our civic duty, it is our moral duty as well.

Grandma, Joisey, Truetolife
All of you are right on! These Democrat polls are by Democrats, for Democrats -- "wishfull thinking" -- as one of you said. People PRETEND to be Republicans, and say "I'm staying home -- let's throw the bums out" -- NONSENSE!! I can't speak for anyone but myself, butI think those people are plants -- not real conservatives.

Vote Republican, conservatives -- even if it's not for a conservative -- BECAUSE VOTING DEM WILL HURT OUR COUNTRY!

Note: It HAS happened -- remember in SD 2004? John Thune beat that Socialist Tom Daschle, and Daschle's STILL sore about it. Hee, hee

nanarae....
You are welcome.

For me or anybody else to make an attempt at describing the utter insanity of the left by using mere words is an exercise in futility.

The pictures say it all.

I'm certain there are those on the left that will find the pictures disturbing.

For me it is just one more confirmation that the liberal left has no moral compass and it is why conservatives must not sit this election out.

Vote. And choose your candidates wisely.

Patriot with eyes open
I registered as an Independent because I couldn't vote for Clinton. My son got in with a gay crowd and died of AIDS. During those many years, I saw the disrespectful attitudes of the far left gays like those shown in the link in solo's post! That stuff is real, folks! That's the truth. I could even tell you more! Let it be enough to say that those people vote for Democrats! I voted for every Republican I could four two years ago, and intend to do so again! Not because they are perfectly Conservative, but because I don't want my country's in the hands of people who condone the attitudes and lifestyles of Bill and Hill and Janet! Remember where Nancy Pelosi is from. Just look at these pictures --thanks solo--(at your own risk, of course). Foley is gone! Other gays can all go too! So can the abortionists. We fiscal conservatives can win control of the GOP in the end. But how can we endure the attitudes of Kerry, Schumer, Clinton, or "Somebody, give me something to REID!" Please, vote Republican! Don't let them have our House!

http://www.zombietime.com/hall_of_shame/

Just one question...
For those conservatives who are considering staying home or doing a "Perot" protest vote...consider who it is Osama bin Laden would want to prosecute the war on terror. Democrats or Republicans? Rumsfeld or Albright?

solo
I am still reeling. It is unbelievable to me that Jesus has not returned already! How merciful a God we have....the Democrats still have time. I hope they wake up and smell ANYTHING good.

Hey Kimberly
Don't you think it would have been better if when President Bush conjured up Hurricane Katrina, he would have programmed it to hit D.C. instead of New Orleans? All the "evil" politicians would have been blown away, and then, we could start all over again with totally new representatives in our nation's Capitol.
Oh, and don't forget
Bush lied, kids died and Halliburton!!!!!!!!!

VOTE!!!!!!
Two very good reasons to vote Republican -- the specter of Pelosi and Reid in charge. There is enough moral decay in this country today without turning the country over to the San Francisco crowd thru Pelosi. Also -- if you don't vote -- don't complain about anything going on in the future. Ask yourself what you would do it the privilege of voting were taken away from you.

Republican & conserative - not the same
Please understand - the GOP has enacted conservative policies on a very spotty basis, but this is only because they do not have a conservative majority in either house of Congress.

Based on reliable ACU ratings, the GOP majority of 55 in the Senate only has 46 conservatives. In the House, the 233 GOP majority only has 186 conservatives.

The solution here is to teach people about the superiority of conservatism. That liberty is the goal of a good society and that the values of personal responsibility, limited government, the rule of law and free markets best allow liberty to flourish. When enough people who do not currently vote Republican are persuaded of this, a conservative majority will be born in the GOP, and a truly conservative agenda will be debated and enacted, to the betterment of all people in this great country.

I agree, David
My optimism and faith in the values of American conservatives continues to keep my spirits up. I, too, believe there are too many other people out there that the liberals and old media think are too stupid to think for themselves. Let's all give them a "November Surprise" and turn out in such force that we gain seats instead of losing them as they are continually predicting. As we all know, polls mean nothing...the wording of the questions can be such that anyone can get the results they want regardless of the responses.

I am voting Republican
and anyone else I can convince. The Foley scandal has just made me more determined to get out and vote. The thought of the Democrats in charge of national security scares the heck out of me.

Brian R
Being voted out of office is the ONLY thing these arrogant politicians will understand. They have the 'bit in their teeth' and are running wherever they wish.

They need to be shown the door for not acting in their constituents' best interests. They have been politicizing, making deals, setting up friends and/or whatever they wanted to do and lieing to the public every step of the way.

But all is not lost. Look at it this way:

The Republicans are kicked out. The Dems get in. Big deal. They will waste at least 2 years frivolously trying to impeach the President and other bones they wish to pick. In 2 years time, maybe a chastned Republican party will be ready to actually do something about Immigration and the war against the Army of Islam.

perspective......
The news of North Korea detonating an apparent nuclear weapon is truly troubling but let us not forget the "enemy at the gates";
http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/

While the liberals march in support of just about everything repugnant to conservatives, let us not forget the enemies within the gates. In a speech to the Roman Senate, Cicero aptly stated;

"A nation can survive its fools and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within.
An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly against the city.
But the traitor moves among those within the gates freely, his sly whispers rustling through the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself.
For the traitor appears no traitor, he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their garments and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men."
Found in "The Book of Virtues", by William J. Bennett.

Only a fool could possibly think he/she can sit this election out.

VOTE!!

Nagin, Blanco, Kennedy, Pelosi, Schumer
Louisiana Democrats leave their constituancy low and wet in the path of a hurricane! What a bunch of losers. Buses aplenty and an abundance of time and notice from the Miami Hurricane Center, and look at the devastation and loss of life because of their incompetance. If only they hadn't run out on their people so quick to get upstate they could have saved a lot of the unfortunate.

Kennedy red faced and blatant about attempting a filibuster of highly qualified judicial nominees. Obviously not giving fair consideration to these expert jurists. Something not done for over two hundred years. And something certainly not done to far left liberal judges[sic]. Schumer too.

Even though there was already a majority of Republican appointees on the bench and still they upheld BCRA, subverting the 1st, but no over turning of Roe V Wade. That little episode of degrading the Constitution should have made liberals happy.

Pelosi and Hillary and the rest of the gun ban crowd did thier best to subvert the laws of the land and bankrupt the firearms industry with frivolous lawsuits with no legal merit what so ever. Do we really want more of that kind of disrespectful behavior. Vote Kennedy, Pelosi out, keep Dems from reckless control of the House and Senate.

Buck: You and I are on the same page...
... my friend. That's exactly what I've been saying for months.

Even if they take one of the houses (no way they get both) they're not going to have a veto-proof fillibuster-proof majority.

So we get gridlock. Sounds good to me.

Buck & Brian
Also agreed totally -- see my comments from before. The Republicans are no conservative party -- the only way to ensure some "conservatism" is to make it so darn hard to pass any laws for the next two years that nothing actually gets done. We can survive Democrats gaining one house of congress. I'm afraid that if the current inept Congress stays in power, voter frustration will reach a peak 2 years down the road, and Democrats will get a presidency out of the backlash.

The thought of a Hillary presidency -- combined with the erosion of personal liberties under the current administration -- gives me the willies. Do you really want Hillary to have ubiquitous spying power on American citizens without a warrant? The ability to hold American citizens without trial or charge for months or years? The ability to backhandedly veto laws with signing statements?

Bush has needlessly upset the delicate balance of power set forth in the Constitution. That is why this conservative is voting Libertarian -- or Democrat -- this year.

Hockey Goon
"Which allies have we alienated?"

NATO in general? The U.K. in specific? Sure, Tony Blair sided with Bush, but he's one person -- the war in Iraq has been devastating to our popularity there, and Blair is being pushed out of office mostly because of it.

Smaller countries, but still our allies: South Korea, Spain, Poland?

The point is, we used to have the *moral* high ground. The Cold War was Good vs. Evil and it was clear to the civilized world that we were on the side of good. Now that we hold enemy combatants in violation of the Geneva Conventions and our own Constitution, what can we claim to stand for? Moral relativism?

It's kind of funny
I think it's kind of funny to see the transparency of the press in reporting things as they really wish in their hearts they really could be. Of course, we average Americans know they're wrong, because they don't understand us, and they live in their cocoons where they drink Kool-Aid all day and keep reporting on the world as they want it to be. I'm perfectly content to allow them to continue, and then watch them as they scratch their heads in unbelief when the election turns out so differently than they thought. I mean, we've been there before, and these guys never learn the lesson.

I have to admit...
For a while there, I was one of the conservative/libertarian folks who was considering "staying home" in order to punish Republicans come November. (Actually, I planned to go to vote for all state/local offices, but to not vote, or vote Libertarian, for national ones.)

But I have reconsidered, tentatively.

The reasons for my disgust with Republican performance include (1.) inaction on closing the border -- I'm talking SEALED TIGHT, two fence layers, with land mines between, on both borders; (2.) unwillingness to wait until AFTER the border is closed to implement a system to deal with illegals already present in the U.S.; (3.) pork, pork, pork, pork, and still more Mister-Ted-Stevens-With-The-"Other White Meat Memorial Bridge" frelling PORK; (4.) failure to reform (and partly privatize) Social Security; (5.) failure to seriously consider the Fair Tax; (6.) how vouchers, which were the only thing likely to produce beneficial education results, were (outrageously) the first thing sacrificed in education reform, and never re-introduced; (7.) some uneasy habeas corpus concerns re: terror detainee practices when the detainee is an American citizen -- 'cause even if the current White House is one you like, you can't guarantee that the precedents set today won't be used underhandedly by the screeching leftist harpy who might occupy the White House after 2008. (Speaking hypothetically and generically, of course.)

The reason I'll probably show up and vote Republican anyway is that, on consideration:

1. I'm from Georgia; my Congressmen and Senators are not part of the problem. It's Reps and Senators from other states (e.g. McCain, Specter, Chafee) that have prevented conservatives from making good use of their majority. Heck, the House of Representatives has been friendly to conservatives, libertarians, and hawks; it's the Senate that's been tone-deaf.

2. I don't want the Bush White House hamstrung by impeachment investigations which will certainly be launched by a Democrat-controlled House...especially if a foreign-policy crisis erupts, as seems likely.

3. I have yet to confidently determine whether anyone apart from Foley deserves blame in the page-gate thing. But even if the Republican House Leadership had been arranging dates for Foley, it shouldn't affect my support for MY Representative, who after all, wasn't involved!

4. Even my visceral dislike of pork, of the elitist intransigence on border security, Social Security, and taxes are not enough to overwhelm my grim knowledge that The West is in deep trouble, and may largely collapse in my lifetime as lack of cultural willpower, insufficiently-large armies, oil dependence, and below-replacement birth-rates intersect with proliferating WMD technology, resurgent jihadism, Chinese nationalism, and uncontainable rogue states.

Under such circumstances, the last people I want to have in power are the loony left who're blissfully unconcerned with the above crisis trends, but whose paranoid delusions about Southern Baptist Theocratic Militias dominate their every thought. No, under those circumstances, I'd even vote for a RINO, if it meant ensuring that the majority in Congress was held by people who were serious about foreign policy.

So, okay. For the moment, the GOP has my vote. And I'd never vote for a Democrat anyway, other than Zell Miller or, under some circumstances, Joe Lieberman.

But they'd better watch their step. Stop acting like Democrats. Cut the pork. Keep it clean. Keep it security-focused and economy-focused and reduce-the-size-of-government-focused and privatization-focused. Don't screw around.

Because it's this disenchantment that reduces my enthusiasm. I'm a hard-core member of the base, and even I was nearly swayed from voting until I thought it through, and reconsidered. Some other members of the base might not bother thinking it through.

I'm staying home ....

OF COURSE many conservatives will sit this one out. There's nothing left to support.

Limbaugh believes otherwise -- arguing no more than short-term politial expediency -- the same short-term political expediency (and power lust)that caused congressional Republicans to abandon every known conservative principle.

Count them up:

1) the largest explosion in non-defense spending ... and the welfare state ... since Johnson .. from the make-believe advocate of smaller government.

2) AS costly war which looks more like VietNam every week -- as enlisted men now openly question our remianing presence in Iraq.

Translating Limbaugh, and adding the truth -- Republicans talk a better game, but govern no different than Democrats.

Why should we care?

NOTHING in the past 2-3 years deserves to be rewarded,

Stay home or vote the third-party of your choice.

The MSM has done its job well apparently. The loons on the left and Democrats in general are counting on conservatives staying home.

After decades of liberal nonsense and failed Democratic policies the reasons we must vote are obvious to the most casual observer.

So stay home. Don't vote. Maybe we'll be entertained by people like this...http://www.zombietime.com/hall_of_shame/.

Don't vote. The Democrats will love you for it.

For those who take the time to research candidates and find alternative news sources other than the MSM, we will again carry the fight against more idiocy and failed policies from the liberal left.

Do the Republicans do everything correct? Hardly.
But just what is the alternative? More loony left debacles? Another step closer to socialism?
Think about it.

The Democrats have managed to deceive and dupe the American public into believing they have answers and that they are the solution to all our problems.
This could not be further from the truth. You are just playing right into their hands.

Stay home. Don't vote. That attitude is a fools game. In fact you might as well vote for Democrats. At least then you could say I voted and perhaps won't be labeled a fool.....

Then there's the loons on the right. You been living in a cave?

It's not just the MSM, chump -- despite the unison chanting of so may conservatives -- my observations come mostly from William Buckley and Bruce Bartlett. You may need to expand your reading.

Any comment on actual issues -- like, oh, the ones you responded to her -- or just mindless partisan ranting?

It's over. They blew it themselves.

Is that your best shot, Sport.

Any examples, Sport?

One more time -- how did the GOP govern asny differently than Democrats -- on size of government, expansion of the welfare state, federal interference in education?

>>>"Do the Republicans do everything correct? Hardly.
But just what is the alternative? More loony left debacles? Another step closer to socialism?

No, thinking is what YOU need to do ... which is not the same as an intensely jerking knee,

How is the GOP any different?????

>>>>"Stay home. Don't vote. That attitude is a fools game. In fact you might as well vote for Democrats. At least then you could say I voted and perhaps won't be labeled a fool....."

I'd vote Libertarian if I could, in my district.

I may vote for Butch Otter, here in Idaho ... a LIBERTARIAN Republican.

Remember? .....

Congressional GOP has NEVER been any different than the Democrats.

Remember Reagan?

The Grace Commission SPENDING cuts never saw even a committee hearing ... in a Republican Senate.

And Reagan finished his term asking for a line-item veto ... against his own party in Congress.

Whe the GOP also lost seats ... for failure to govern.

What a pack of losers.

Yep -- for those who place Principle above Party ... which seems to be very few around here.

I see mostly knee-jerk Republicans, chanting in unison, instead of principled defenders of liberty. So we may be wasting our time in this venue.

Vote Democrat these days? HA.

NO way in hell will I as a veteran ever vote for the party of a Ted "Nutjob" Kennedy or a John "Treason" Kerry.

We ARE in WW3 and the Dems have done all in their power to disrupt and undermine our war efforts simply for political reasons and their bickering has hurt our troops and made us divided during war time. Ladies and gents, this IS WW3. Get it right!
