Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

The same pundits who declared John McCain dead and Hillary Clinton inevitable are now saying Barack Obama has weathered the storm over his association with Jeremiah Wright. Color me skeptical. The reason? Tiger Woods.

Ask yourself: Why do Americans adore Tiger Woods? Because he’s a winner, of course. But also, I suspect, because he seems so comfortable with his multi-racial heritage. He calls himself a "Cablinasian” – a Caucasian-black-Indian-Asian. He famously told Oprah Winfrey: "I'm just who I am, whoever you see in front of you." How classy is that? And, if you are among those who still think of America as a melting pot, how all-American?

A few short months ago, it appeared Barack Obama was cut from similar cloth. He, too, is of mixed race, the son of a black, Kenyan, Muslim father and a white, Christian, mid-western mother. In front of the cameras, he looked and sounded like a winner as he called for unity, not division. His candidacy implied a historic promise: to move America beyond its long struggle and preoccupation over race.

But it now turns out that for the past 20 years Obama’s pastor, friend and advisor has been spouting anti-Americanism, neo-Marxist “black liberation theology,” and racism.

Jeremiah Wright has accused whites of “inventing the H.I.V. virus as a means of genocide against people of color.” He has dismissed the atrocities of 9/11 as “chickens coming home to roost.” He has called on God to “damn” America. He and Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan visited with Muammar Qaddafi in Libya in 1984 – a time when Qaddafi was known to be supporting international terrorists. Wright has slandered Israel as an apartheid state, and he has reprinted an article by Mousa Abu Mazook, a member of the terrorist movement, Hamas, on the “Pastor’s Page” of his church bulletin.

Let’s stipulate that Obama is being honest when he says he endorses none of this. Still, does it not speak volumes about his judgment that he chose to expose his daughters to such extremism? And what does it say about his moral compass that he never told Wright that his words were offensive and damaging? What does all this suggest about Obama’s ability to deal with the world’s terrorists and tyrants?

In response to the controversy stirred by the Wright revelations, Obama gave a speech on race relations. Most of the media swooned. But as columnist Charles Krauthammer pointed out, its tired themes were moral equivalence and white guilt. Geraldine Ferraro and Obama’s white grandmother were made to seem just as wrong as Wright.

Peggy Orenstein, a writer for The New York Times and an Obama admirer (do I repeat myself?) noted recently that the Senator “has increasingly positioned himself as a black man” rather than an individual of mixed heritage. She adds: “That’s understandable: insisting on being seen as biracial might alienate African-American leaders – and voters – who have questioned his authenticity.”

Put aside that Orenstein sees nothing to criticize in Obama denying his mother’s lineage to maximize votes on the basis of racial solidarity. Focus instead on “authenticity” -- code for embracing the politics of black grievance and resentment. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are “authentic.” Tiger Woods is not.

Are we really to believe that such authenticity is something a majority of Americans now desire in a national leader? According to Orenstein, we are. For whites, she says, electing the first black president is “certainly a more exciting, more romantic and more concrete prospect than the ‘first biracial president.’” Is it really?

At the start of this election season, Obama was a politician who happened to be black – not a black politician. The Wright affair has tarnished that image – or will, I think, over time, as its message sinks in even among those who get their news from the mainstream media that have assiduously soft-pedaled this controversy.

Is there a way out of the trap in which Obama finds himself? He could do what he claims to be doing: initiate a more serious discussion about race than we have had in the past. He might begin by acknowledging that what distinguishes America is not its racial, religious and ethnic tensions – those can be found just about everywhere -- but the strenuous efforts Americans have made to combat these pathologies.

Were Obama to do that, he would sacrifice a measure of “authenticity” and displease Wright, Farrakhan, Jackson, and Sharpton. A political Tiger Woods would do it anyway. Does Obama have that kind of class? Color me skeptical.

Tiger woods
The reason I love Tiger Woods is that he is the best at what he does and he is a classy guy. It has nothing to do with race. Why do you have to bring race into everything?

Bill
That's exactly May's point. Tiger Woods IS loved because of his talent and professionalism, and the way he lives his life. He doesn't get caught up in "the identity game." I think most Americans appreciate that about him. I would have more respect for Obama if he did the same.

I do have a bone to pick with the media on this. Has anyone ever wondered why Tiger Woods is the first African American to win a major golf tournament, but you never hear of the fact that he is also the first Asian American to win a major?

Tiger Woods is an amazing athlete
His success has nothing to do with his race, and neither does the fact that millions love him. He focuses first and foremost on his profession, on playing excellent golf, on improving the game and bringing good sportsmanship into the limelight, and on help junior golfers to appreciate the game and stay with it and improve.

The presidential race wasn't a racial event until Barack and his ridiculous, unceasing support for his maniac pastor chose to make it racial. Since then, he has not only NOT backstepped, he has made it more racial. I for one will not forget his remark about his grandmother, calling her a "typical white person."

Well, Barack, I think you are a typical black person, unable and unwilling to focus on ANYTHING substantive other than race first. Everything else is secondary to race. And that makes you a fraud, based on your "I'm a uniter" campaign nonsense. And being a fraud is about as far away from being authentic as you can get.

OBOMA IS MANY COLORS .
The one that works best is when He is a Brother , a Havard Lawyer , Attends his Ministers Hate based Church .Thoughs his grandmother under the Bus not his piece of crap dad .The one that tells whites we are guilty of everything wrong with Blacks .When He praises Dr King and talks like a Black Preacher then speaks in Perfect English .He says much but is neither fact based or in a answer unless we should give blacks more , pay more taxes and follow his Pacifist ways against those Moslems who want to destoy us because his daddy is Moslem and is named after a Moslem ?
Too Bill .The reason Cliff May brought up Race is because Oboma is running on his RACE simply .Duh !
I voted for JC Watt's not because he was a great Football player but because he ran on issues .

More than a classy act: "I'm just who I

am, whoever you see in front of you."

Problem is, BHO has an agenda, and has to use his "ethnicity" to promote that agenda.

That alone should make everyone a more than "just a little suspect."

Obama is trying to run on issues.
Hard to do though when guys like May keep bringing up race. Why do they do it? Well because they know as long as race is being discussed it is a negative for Obama.

Oh, and it has always been white folks who have defined a person w/ any African blood as black. Thats why Tiger is considered black. Of course, he does a great job of rising above all that nonsense.

Bill: You're being facetious? Right?
.

Bill
Not really. People are very visually oriented. If someone looks black, we consider them black. If they look white, we consider them white.

The same holds true for other races that are less obvious like latinos. Cameron Diaz for example is latina. To me she looks like a white chick. Salma Hyek is from Mexico isnt she? And she looks mexican. But she is actually Lebanese by birth.

As a white guy, if I found out that Owen Wilson had a black father or mother, I would still think of him as white. Why? Because he looks white. Just as Tiger looks black.

Jeremiah's Temple of Hate
"And what does it say about his moral compass that he never told Wright that his words were offensive and damaging?"

Cliff, that's too easy. Quite simply, Obama lacks the audacity of moral courage.

But you're absolutely right that this will not go away -- nor should it. Participation at any level in Jeremiah Wright's Temple of Hate is inexcusable. Participation at the deep and enduring level that Obama chose has left a stain on his character that will never be erased.

I have a companion essay on this
up at the heartlandpatriot blog entitled "I Plead Not Guilty". Stop by and check it out. It's worth a minute or two of your time. Just click my name and you're there.

Bob's right
It's true: naturally people are visually-oriented. Since we're not animals, we also acknowledge that they way things look can often be misleading. Race is not black and white. We should stop trusting our eyes and guard our hearts. If our hearts are color blind, then what our eyes "see" won't matter.

Bill
Have you just waken from a six month sleep? Surely you haven't missed the Clinton's bringing race into this. I love it, the democrat (the party of slavery, Jim Crow, voting taxes and race based college admissions) race rift becomes readily apparent, for all the world to see, and it is Cliff May that won't stop talking about race.

Obama's "spiritual mentor" actually sells videos of his own hate-filled, anti-white racist rants, and it is Cliff May that "keep bringing up race".

For months. articles have been published, with blacks asking if Obama was "black enough", yet it is Cliff May that has "defined a person w/ any African blood as black".

Bill...you're funny.

A father's pride
Woods' father stayed. Obama's father left. Do you think that made a difference ?

From all that I have heard, Tiger Woods and his dad were close. They probably had the usual disagreements between father and son. His mother was there as well, doing what moms always do best. They were a family with all the ups and downs that families normally have. They were Americans.

Tiger takes pride in his heritage, but most of all he is an American. Which father would you want ? Which son would you want ?

Tibby

heart of the matter
"What does it say about his moral compass that he chose to expose his daughters to such extremism?"

nothing good

Nick Name
What you say is true, but we will never really be color blind in the truest sense of the word. We will see people as black and white and asian and whatever else. But as long as we dont attach different preconceptions to people, then noticing they are black holds the same ethical and moral significance as noticing that they have blond hair or green eyes.

Cliff May, you're an ignorant fool
You're going to want to take this column down after I'm done exposing you for the ill-informed fraud that you are Cliff May.

Cliff May writes: "Is there a way out of the trap in which Obama finds himself? He could do what he claims to be doing: initiate a more serious discussion about race than we have had in the past. He might begin by acknowledging that what distinguishes America is not its racial, religious and ethnic tensions – those can be found just about everywhere -- but the strenuous efforts Americans have made to combat these pathologies."

From Obama's speech on race:

"But the remarks that have caused this recent firestorm weren't simply controversial. They weren't simply a religious leader's effort to speak out against perceived injustice. Instead, they expressed a profoundly distorted view of this country - a view that sees white racism as endemic, and that elevates what is wrong with America above all that we know is right with America..."

More from his speech:

"I chose to run for the presidency at this moment in history because I believe deeply that we cannot solve the challenges of our time unless we solve them together - unless we perfect our union by understanding that we may have different stories, but we hold common hopes; that we may not look the same and we may not have come from the same place, but we all want to move in the same direction - towards a better future for of children and our grandchildren.

This belief comes from my unyielding faith in the decency and generosity of the American people. But it also comes from my own American story."

I swear, the people who continue to criticize Obama on this issue have not read Obama's speech. Everything they ask him to do, he already did!

Phylo out

Hey Cliffy
Here's another quote from Obama's speech:

"I have brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, uncles and cousins, of every race and every hue, scattered across three continents, and for as long as I live, I will never forget that in no other country on Earth is my story even possible."

By the way Cliff, why didn't you title the piece The Obama Model vs The Woods Model. After all, that's what we're really talking about here.

Could it be because everyone would realize that the two are already very similar?

You chose to use Wright because you know that Obama already holds enlightened views on race.

Amazing. You guys have nothing to criticize Obama for, so you go after his church and his pastor. It's a sure sign of desperation and weakness.

Phylo out.

Phylo
Yes, I heard Obama make all those statements. And if he feels that way it makes me even more confused as to why he remained in that church for so long.

I have been told these were isolated sermons, not indicative of the church message as a whole. Not only is that a lame excuse, it is untrue. There are many hours of these kinds of sermons that were, until recently, available through the church web site.

Frankly Phylo, I try to put myself in a similar position to judge what I would do. If I found out, McCain went to a church where the pastor claimed black people were trying to kill us all, said things like "God Damn Africa" and held several radical consperatorial beliefs that held blacks as genocidal, I would not be voting for the McCain. Especially if he considered such a white bigot a "mentor" and had been married by him. I am sorry but asscociation does matter after a point. Wright is not just some guy Obama knew for five minutes. He is a longtime friend and mentor according to Obama himself.

Phylo
Ask yourself this: You do not know me, but what if you found out I was close friends with David Duke? Would you not wonder why? Would you not also wonder if I held some of the same positons? Would you believe me if I told you that Duke was a long time friend and mentor,...but I was not at all racist or bigoted myself? Just curious.

Phylo
Read Omama's book. EVERYTHING IN HIS LIFE IS ABOUT RACE, ACCORDING TO HIS OWN WORDS. Just because he is a powerful public orator, playing the 'package me as a non-racial figure' game, his own words in his own book tell a far different story. In a final bit of irony, Obama gets a free pass on everything BECAUSE he is black. The pendulum continues to swing....

ELECTIONS
YOU DO NOT VOTE - HOPEFULLY - FOR SOMEONE JUST BECAUSE HE/SHE IS BLACK, WHITE, BROWN, PINK OR YELLOW-YOU VOTE FOR THEM BECAUSE OF WHAT THEY ARE - OR WHAT YOU PERCEIVE THEM TO BE AND HOW THEY FEEL ABOUT THE "ISSUES" THAT YOU CARE ABOUT. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IF YOU "CRITICIZE" ONE OF THE CANDIDATES - IT IS ALWAYS PUT DOWN TO THE FACT OF THEIR COLOR OR GENDER OR AGE OR SIZE - ANYTHING EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT IT IS BASED SOLELY ON THEIR "VIEWS" - CAN WE NOT VOTE ON ANY OF THE CANDIDATES BASED ON THEIR VIEWS AND NOT BE CALLED RACIST!!!!!

Dreams of my father....
People should read this book. What it shows is a person obsessed with race. Every paragraph, every page, every ridiculous story is about race and permeated with resentment and envy. On the very first page he describes how "white people" from the "better neighborhood" a few block away would wald their dogs over to "poop on out street". Hows dat fo' paranoia, bro? Throughout the book he KNOWS what other people think, how they feel and can describe their innermost thoughts. Obama the Omniscient. He describes his mother's thoughts watching him play at 4 years old not as she may have thought, I wonder how she felt. He describes her emotions and thoughts in a way Jesus Christ would have trouble with. Same for every and any white person he has ever met either individually or as a group. Clue: We really don't think about you that much. Really. It reminds me of moving to the south in the early 1960's. In the North we all thought the civil war -- oops -- the war of Southern Secession --was over. Duh. Same with whitey. Us Crackers don't be having no problems with seg-ruh-gay-tun so we don't be thinking bout it all that much. Get it?

Reaching for resentment
Another gem. Obama's parents didn't fight their daughter marrying a black man, but he can't accept that. A PICTURE(!) of some of their ancestors tells him the real truth. Looking at their squinty eyes he KNOWS they are really racists. Even though his Great great grandfather was a decorated soldier for the Union -- I swear to God I am not making this up -- Despite that HIS WIFE'S MOTHER was RUMORED to be Jefferson Davis's SECOND COUSIN. Shazam!! the REAL truth is out at last. This guy is a N-U-T NUT with a capital NU. What was your wife's mother's second cousin? Can you even find out? That's enough to condemn you, even if you bled for the union pal. You a RAY-SIST.

woods is a success
because he works so hard at playing the best golf he can. That's his job. He has won how many tournaments and yet he practices as much as anyone on the tour. He doesn't play to make himself look good, it's too late; he looks great. He doesn't play for anyone else, I'm not sure he even plays for the money anymore. He plays because he loves the game and he wants to do it better than anyone and then, when he's the best, he wants to play better - just because he can. There is a dedication and commitment there that few in any field match.

For that reason, comparing him to Obama or any politician is ridiculous. Today's politicians are in it for themselves, they don't strive to understand statecraft to be the best legislature, they study how to look less stupid than their opponent and win the game. Politics is less about putting forth a meaningful agenda that would be the best for the country and more about making fewer mistakes and having better damage control than the opposition. This is true of both sides of the aisle. The worst part is that we get exactly the government we deserve.

Obama is Strong
Your article does not impress me at all, I was watching tv last night and realized that Martin Luther King made thesame comments when the US was involved in Vietnam and today he is celebrated and is in the annals of history as one of the greatest American heros. I rather see a lot of hate filled in the articles and comments I read on this site. I am a Chrisitan and don't agree at all with Obama on issues but having live abroad and having studied international relations I know a lot about American foreign policy and the harm it causing to US image around the world. People need to ask themselves "Why is the US hated in the middle East and around the world?" I have decided to never support the GOP again. Part of the reason being the lies of the conservative media. I wish you would just speak the truth and not try to take comments out of context and twist them. I listened to Rev Wright sermon on you tube and happen to agree with him on some of the things concerning US foreign policy. Mike Huckabee and Chuck Hagel are the two GOP guys I think are truly honest. You tried to force Romney down our throats. I watch videos of him where he said he supported abortion and was shock by the right wing media.

Parallels
" My dad played at Kansas State. He was the catcher. So my dad endured his hardships. He couldn’t go to Norman and stay when the team played the University of Oklahoma. He had to go stay in Oklahoma City and then drive to Norman to meet the team to play, then find a black hotel..."

Tiger Woods talking about being Black in America. Obama and Woods have parallel lives, one doesn't have to be called a Muslim and a racist though.

Being Black in America
But for Tiger, the sense that he was somehow different came very early.

“I became aware of my racial identity on my first day of school, on my first day of kindergarten. A group of sixth graders tied me to a tree, spray-painted the word ‘n*gger’ on me, and threw rocks at me. That was my first day of school. And the teacher really didn’t do much of anything...

"If I had a Million Dollars"...

The Photo of Mr. Woods shows a man with an infectious smile. A smile his mother gave him when he was a poor "pennyless" infant.

In many cases today, African-American Kids are literally taught to "wipe that G-Damn smile off your face".

Welfare Mothers regularly "shout-down" their small children, using profane and shame-based language. The words "Stupid M-F" come to mind. Public displays of Welfare-Mother-Rage are so common where I live...

We No Longer "Bat an Eye".

To Bob:
Bob, the people who compare Jeremiah Wright to David Duke drive me crazy. David Duke is a white supremacist. He advocates separation of the races.

Wright does not advocate supremacy of anyone, rather the dignity of all races(that was on their website too, though you never hear about it). He has never advocated harming anyone or anything like that. In his frustration he said some things that I would not have said, but he never directly attacked white people directly(I don't think, correct me if I am wrong). Does he hate his country? He loved it enough to serve as a US Marine (I wont ask if Cliff has ever served).

Why did Barak stay? Well, you may not be aware but there is a crisis in the AA community. Guys like Rev Wright work every day with actions (not words) to help resolve this crisis. He teaches his people those good Republican values of self sufficiency and self help. The politically expedient thing for Barak to have done would have been to run like hell, but I assume he recognized the mountain of good WORK this man has done, as opposed to some 4 or 5 instances of crazy remarks he uttered over the course of 30 years.

Now I know the next point you will make is, "well, what about Imus, he did a lot of good too but was fired for remarks he made". Well, Rev Wright is a pastor of a church. His sphere of influence would normally stop there. Imus, a man that interviewed Presidents and Senators, had a national audience. I just ask you if a guy like Bryant Gumble for example came on the national airways and called your daughters "stringy haired sluts" would that be OK with you?

Carlos:
You are making me bust a gut. It is obvious to me why May chose that photo of Woods, and no, we wont be sucked into commenting about it. I recognize it for what it is, end of story.

Phylo and company
If for 20 years one remains in a company of Marx, Engel, Lenin and Stalin, one must be a communist;

If one stays that long in a company of Hitler, Goring, Goebels and Himmler, then one must be a Nazi;

If Obama fatefully attends the Wright's church, listens to the hateful sermones, phrases Farrakan and lives with this racist hateful radical wife of his, them he must be a hater and a racist. Or at least a sympathizer.

Bill ...

Point being... We No Longer "Bat an Eye".

Americans are numb to an abusive and failed system. A system that creates Child-neglect, rewards laziness, and promotes ignorance.

Act immoral, mistreat your children, hate the rich, drop out of school, commit a few crimes, vote Democrat... And you will find you are a shoe-in for a lifetime welfare handout.

Go to your local Aid office looking "only" for a "hand-up"...

And they'll throw you out on your a**.

Race not a deciding factor
Before we pull a lever in November we will have plenty of time to forecast the ramifications of a spending binge that would occur under Pres. Obama. $800,000,000,000 more and counting.

Tiger wins tournaments not votes
If the PGA players voted for the winner each week, how many titles do you think Tiger would have won. He's an athlete not a politician. Just a few years ago Fuzzy Zoeller made the stupid remark that he guessed that Tiger would be picking fried chicken or whatever those people eat after Tiger won and the winner gets to pick next years dinner. People love Tiger because he is the best golfer out there today and he is a class act.

Obama is a fraud, liar,
& racist himself.

Anyone who would claim an occasional remark by the grandmother who sacrificed & raised him is the same as some powerful leader who's ranted for decades about hatred & bile is the same has no moral judgment.

Geraldine Ferrara was all too correct. Had Obama been some white guy from S-side Chicago w/shady fundraising & land deals, a couple years in the IL leg. where he voted present 100s of times, & then a 1st-term Sen. w/out maj. leg. to his name who decided to run for pres., no one would've taken him seriously or taken at all.

The Dems. picked Obama for the pres. in the most racist way: someone of mixed race, not too dark, who had an Ivy-League ed. & a beautiful wife (who makes a million a year), and someone with little track record so that he'd have no discernible baggage.

A "darker" person was favorable on many racial fronts. If he were criticized, Dems. would trot out bigot and racist, names they love to call anyone not a maniacal progressive.
Blacks form a solid 90%-voting bloc in urban centers, where Dems. need to carry votes in really big numbers in order to take states like NY and CA, because suburban & rural areas don't support them.
The old guard thought once nominated, white guilt would carry the day. They still only meet blacks as busboys or car valet attendants.

The trouble now is Obama's not quite as pristine-clean as the Dems. had led themselves to believe. Maybe a few remember McGovern took MA, DC, and Guam in 1972. When people start to really hear about Rev. Wright, which the MSM have been nearly deaf and dumb on, when they see his voting record is zilch, when they read in his own words how he patronizes whites by being extra polite & speaking softly (bacause then whites are pacified), his charm will seem very thin & forgettable.

Obama must crawl!
Weathering the storm isn't going to cut it for Obama. Making through the first couple of rounds doesn't get Obama off the hook. Getting daily endorsements doesn't matter. Obama is going to learn his place one way or another. Obama is going to repeat and say the words his attackers want him to say for his own good. There's a price to be paid if Obama is going to be allowed to carry on with his life. The Conservative Inquisition forgives no one, if they don't play by the rules of the court. The Inquisition doesn't recognized anyone who isn't all black or all white. Half black, half white doesn't pass the test, because the Conservative Inquistion doesn't see that person as real.

Your post of 12:14 p.m. could not have been more
spot on. And perhaps the truest part of it all is
"of such are syndicated columnists' livelihoods made."

The quality can be down right embarrassing at times.

Carlos: "We No Longer "Bat an Eye". I BELIEVE YOU, trust me. I'll bet you never did. I have
read so many of your posts. The welfare mothers
have nothing on you. You can be as foul and
obnoxious as the best of them.

Mr. Right: "Today's politicians are in it for themselves, they don't strive to understand statecraft to be the best legislature," (legislator, I presume). What an arrogant statement. Completely outrageous and arrogant.

$20,000.
Folks keep ignoring the $20,000. that BHO & Michelle - whilst raising 2 children - donated to Wright. Has that helped build Jeremiah's current new digs?

Question for Phylo
"I have brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, uncles and cousins, of every race and every hue, scattered across three continents, and for as long as I live, I will never forget that in no other country on Earth is my story even possible."

Where are they? Certainly not campaigning for Obama.

McAmnesty's Conversion on the Road to SC
Mr. May,

How about a complete investigation of McAmnesty's actively seeking and receiving the endorsement of the late "reverend" Falwell at the start of the campaign last year, who said "God does not hear the prayers of a Jew," and "Jews do not go to heaven"? And also how this year McAmnesty sought and received the endorsment of "reverend" Hagee, the outspoken hater of Catholics and Jews? I suspect there is racial prejudice there, too. Why did McAmnesty switch from Episcopalian (my sect) to Baptist at the ripe old age of 70? I think it was just another example of his political pandering for the South Carolina and other southern primaries. McPharisee!!! I need lots more information on all the bigotry involving McAmnesty, so please dig in and do week after week after week of stories on that bigotry, and get McAmnesty to apologize to all the groups that are the target of that bigotry. If you can find a religious angle on the Hildebeast, do that, too. Finally, write how these political "reverends" keep their "religious" tax status. Fair and balanced bigotry coverage!!!

P.S. All three "choices" are pathetic unqualified hacks, so I will vote Constitution Party.

Tiger Woods, the darling that
he is still remains just a sports figure. He can call himself whatever he wants. He can join any group he pleases, none of this means anything to me.

On the other hand, B.Hussein Obama is going to be the leader of our country and what he believes and how he sees the world is very, very important to me. The man is a left-wing Socialst, with Black Liberation leanings. This is absolutely not the man I want for my leader.

Lemonade the Liberal...

"Typical" response. Attack any conservative who challenges the status quo of the cruelty of Liberalism. Especially it's Genocidal effect on Black children.

The "Cycle of violence, poverty, and early death" is something I wish to change. Democrats choose to ignore the Tiny Coffins rolling through the streets of Black America.

The "Typical White Liberal" response to the Welfare System causing early death for Black children... Expand the Program!

Hmmm? Seems White Democrats prefer the current results.

Phylo
You state, "Amazing. You guys have nothing to criticize Obama for, so you go after his church and his pastor. It's a sure sign of desperation and weakness."

How about this? Obama doesn't believe in the constitution. In one breath he states he supports the right of individuals to bear arms. Then in the next sentence he says that the local politicians can place reasonable restrictions like DC did in banning guns entirely. Remeber, the constitution is to protect the people from the government and the majority.

Secondly, he wants to increase spending that would make the drunken sailor Republicans blush.

And that is just for starters.

Smiles
Anyone can smile before a camera.I would not vote for a person just because he was handsome, talked good I want to know what he thinks and what is in his heart.I know now that BO is a socialist so I cannot vote for him.

Barack Obama the Tiger Woods of politics
Thanks Cliff, good analogy.

He is good off the tee - big speeches or is it debates
because he could work on his debate game.

Homework, practice - check out his issues site.
Has anyone ever been this transparent on where they stand on the
issues?

jax, h2o, katy
jax, go to his issues site if you want to know what he thinks

h2o, you can be for both, when it comes to guns. The SCOTUS will
hand down their opinions soon, anyway.
And the drunken sailors were for a trillion dollar war. Obama wasn't

Katy, his sister is campaigning and of course most all Kenyans are
pulling for Obama. His Granny is for him too.

Iowa PatN
McCain is an Episcopalian. Since he married Cindy and they had children, they have attended a Baptist church that she joined and at which the children were baptised. McCain has never joined the church.

Can't you find something more relevant and truthful to talk about for a change? I didn't correct you the first fifty times I saw this.

Dear Bill
"Oh, and it has always been white folks who have defined a person w/ any African blood as black." is not exactly accurate. If you bother to read the mission statement of Wright's Trinity United you find:

"We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian... Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community."

I don't believe for one minute that a white person wrote that.

Say what?
Boutte:

If Tiger Woods is an Asiatic golfer, then B. Hussein Obama is a lilly-white politician (he is, after all, as white as Tiger is Asian).

Someone who makes political speeches from the pulpit isn’t “outside politics.”

Seems to me that the Democrats are the ones who injected race into their primary—with OHB and Rev. Wright leading the choir.

Phylo Se Fiser:

You’ve exposed nothing (with your excerpts from OHB’s “race” speech) but OHB’s lame, ham-handed defense of the indefensible. It was a defense offered up by an inexperienced politician’s who’s been exposed to scrutiny for his steadfast support of a Church, and a preacher, that has defined itself (and himself) by black separatist teachings and racial hatred.

But, you’re right, we certainly couldn’t criticize OHB for his ultra-liberal voting record, or his tax & spend policies, or his hair-brained ideas (like bombing Pakistan), or his pledge for “retreat & defeat” in Iraq.

But, then, we Republicans aren’t the ones attacking OHB, are we? Aren’t Hillary & Bill doing the Veg-O-Matic on OHB?

But your most precious line was this: “Everything they ask him to do, he already did!”

What a sad, pathetic plea for sympathy. Poor OHB, he explained how he never knew what was being said in his church of twenty years. He’s told us how wonderful it is to be an American and how wonderful Americans really are—even the typical white ones (although he left his granny's humanity in doubt)! He told us he really does disagree with those nasty things his preacher said.

Never mind that OHB did all this AFTER the whole ugly truth about this church and this preacher, and his long-term association with both, was exposed. We’re just supposed to overlook the past and listen to the truth that OHB is NOW speaking. Phylo way-out.

IowaPatN:

Get back to us when you find a virulent anti-black church that McCain has been attending for twenty years.

Barack Hussein Obama...RIP?
Tiger Woods is a phenomenon. He probably will never be equaled on the golf course. That is not his magic, however. He had a mother and father, both strict, who started grooming him from a mere babe to be special. He has CLASS.

His father had such an important role in his life as a golfer. His mother taught him how to act under pressure and how to behave.I doube if race was much of a part of his life. Not the important part, anyway.

Now,this Obama. He is an opportunist of the worst kind.He writes a couple of 'fiction books'and gets elected to office against someone who had no chance of being elected to any office .Almost anyone could have won that seat.

He talks in a rhythm that lulls the listeners into a swoon and says 'we need change'.He promises everything to everybody, knowing he can never deliver it,but they hang onto every word.He is an anti-American bigot. He uses race for gain.He has not been vetted, but he will be or we are in a heap of hurt.

A Modest Proposal
McCain (whom I'll vote for as the lesser of two evils as I do in every general election, voting a straight-republican ticket) is tip-toeing throught the tulips as Obama and Hillary fight a cage-match battle, basically weakening themselves for whichever gets the nomination.

I'm pulling for Hillary for one simple and inescapable reason: If Obama wins the nomination, but not the general election, America will be portrayed as "racist" to infinity. If you think coverage of Abu Ghraib was overblown, it would be as a grain of sand on the beach compared to the upcoming portrayal of America as racist because Obama didn't win. I'd bet the farm on this.

Personally, I would vote for the right candidate if he/she, black or white, were a solid candidate, which clears Obama and Hillary off the chart: neither is qualified nor capable of being the Commander in Chief...or picking a Supreme Court Justice nominee who had the least bit of respect forthe Constitution. They are both "progressives" (code for "socialists"), who tend to be rich people who want to "help" poor people by turning our system of capitalism on its head.

When the government "cares" for the average citizen, count the silverware! You may have to pawn it!

Bill, if you had any brains, you'd be dangerous.

Here's an idea..
Tiger Woods is a class act, no doubt about it...
When his career is over, he will no doubt be remembered right there with Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan, Babe Ruth and Richard Petty as the the best there's ever been... But instead of refering to himself as "Cablinasian", why doesn't he just call himself an American ? Seems to me doing something as simple as that would go a long way towards bridging the racial divide..

McAmnesty, the Quiet Man!
Zedsmom and debishop: I keep asking because nothing is being investigated. Finally, just THIS WEEK there was an article quoting campaign spokespeople who said that McAmnesty is a "private man" and "doesn't want to discuss religion." Is that supposed to be a satisying answer? Why not a full investigation of ALL the candidates on this issue, not just Obama? Do you McCain people approve of the Falwell/Hagee anti-Catholic, anti-Jewish positions? Or is white bigotry off limits to you? McAmnesty is trying to avoid the issue of these endorsements, which HE SOUGHT, from "reverends" he was intensely critical of in 2000. Why the flip? The media should not let him get away with it. If the investigation is done for Democrats, it should be done for Republicans. How do we know the truth if there is no investigation? "No comment" is not enough.

If you think this is bad, wait until the Democrats start Swiftboarding McAmnesty as payback for the Swiftboating on Kerry. Many, many bad stories out there. All I'm saying is that neither side should be allowed to avoid the truth. STRAIGHT TALK NOW!

The Company You Keep
"Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him."

"The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community. . . ."

"Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy."

"What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love."

Anyone who thinks

The fact is, the "media" has been down-playing the Barry O'Blame-Ya /Jerry Wright story from the beginning!

The Clintonistas have injected O'Blame-Ya's race into the campaign at every opportunity NOT the Republicans.
There is even some speculation that Hill-Billary made the race pitch to Richardson when she told 'Judas' (according to Carville, another Clintonista-Dem) -

It might be another long painfull four years.
I don't play golf, but yes, Tiger is a great player and shows real class.

Tiger Represents America
Tiger Woods represents what America is: a melting pot of races, excellence bubbling over!

He demonstrates that race didn't have anything to do with him achieving great success, and race didn't hold him back- He's arrived at his goal, his American dream came true.

He wasn't taught to hate "whitey" or anyone else, even though some racist people have tried to stand in his way. Wright says hateful things about Tiger because Tiger gets along with everyone.

Tiger is a classy guy who is great at golf- Americans of all colors cheer him on!

Let me get this straight. You can support the constitution to keep and bear arms but you also support the politicans right to take them away? You can only have one or the other. Not both.

Also, look at the proposed new spending Obama is proposing. The liberals claim Bush over spent but instead of proposing to cut spending you support the Democratic programs to increase spending even more than the druken sailors did. Why don't you complain about that?

Reverend Wright
I beginning to think the media is glad about the Reverend Wright situtation. It's giving you all a job and something to talk about, over and over again. I've seen more new political talk shows come out in a very short time that weren't around until the presidential campaigns began. This democratic campaign lasting so long is keeping many people employed. As for being in a place where you don't necessarily agree with the message, aren't a majority of Americans doing the same thing by living in a country with a President that has been less than effective. I don't see many people leaving because of the President's words and deeds.

Scotty, I read you post"I am not guilty". While I agree with most of it, I can tell you that you were/are/have never been treated the same as a black man/woman because you're white and have no concept of what blacks face in their daily lives on a day to day basis. You have no idea the everyday trials blacks undergo, the sterotyping, the hidden racial treatment that most blacks are treated to in their daily lives be it by the police, boss, business' etc .
Racism can be subtle and is not easily recognized. Having said that, not all blacks are treated in the same manner. Senator Obama did not start his campaign using race, blame the media, clintons who started it. I am a white skinned black with blone hair, hazel eyes and you would be surprised at the comments people say to me re. blacks only to have them tell me they are not racists when I point out to them thay I am biracial, mixed father and white mother. They become embarrassed for being caught out.
Check out YOUTUBE.COM aslo re. bronx school on Obama's race speech and 'yes we can'. No matter the outcome of the presidential race, he will have done something positive. I have also heard some of Rev/Dr. Wright's sermons and I can assure you that not all his sermons are 2-3 seconds sound bites the media have been showing ad nauseum. IowaPatN:
So, McCain sought the endorsements of Falwell and Hagee? Clinton/Gore sought the endorsement (via cash contibutions) of the Red Chinese; did you call for an investigation of that? I don’t believe McCain had an Wright-Obama/Master-Grasshopper relationship with either Falwell or Hagee. And he certainly didn’t belong to, or financially support, either of their churches.

And I’m not sure what it is with Falwell that leads you to think he’s anti-Jewish or anti-Catholic. I looked on the “Positive Atheism’s Big Scary List of Jerry Falwell Quotations,” and only found one “scary” quote about the Jews, that being: “The Jews are returning to their land of unbelief. They are spiritually blind and desperately in need of their Messiah and Savior.” Hardly sounds like Falwell was calling for their extermination. He is also quoted as saying, “I believe that the people of Israel are the chosen people of God.”

Falwell was certainly opposed to homosexuality, the ACLU, Islamic terrorists, and Global Warming; which puts in the company with, I’m going to take a page out of your book and say, a majority of the American people.

I found no Falwell anti-Catholic quotes, but I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that he believed that Catholics, like Jews, were not going to heaven—a sentiment that Catholics and Jews no doubt share about Baptist.

Also, I’d like to see your evidence against Falwell & Hagee, if you have any. I’d also like to hear about all those “bad stories” you think are out there.

Can you cite a source other than Doug Thompson for this quote? Any one else hear the President say this? I’ve looked at a lot of websites (mostly leftwing) that have printed this quote (and the Thompson article), but I can’t find anyone else who was there who is attesting to the story’s voracity.

Thompson said he talked to three people who were there, but he fails to mention them by name. There are no other independent sources that I can find.

Thompson’s website states that he served as press secretary for two Congressmen and as a Chief of Staff for another; yet he fails to identify these Congressmen. I’d be curious to know whether or not he served under Democrats or Republicans. It could help with his voracity, as it relates to the article he wrote.

"This time we want to talk about the crumbling schools that are stealing the future of black children and white children and Asian children and Hispanic children and Native American children. This time we want to reject the cynicism that tells us that these kids can’t learn; that those kids who don’t look like us are somebody else’s problem. The children of America are not those kids, they are our kids, and we will not let them fall behind in a 21st century economy."

Any of these categories qualify as your children?

"Let us be our brother’s keeper, Scripture tells us. Let us be our sister’s keeper. Let us find that common stake we all have in one another, and let our politics reflect that spirit as well."

Would this qualify as everybody or is he only talking about one race.

"Blaming me (because I am white) for all that is wrong in the black community - "

Missed this part. In fact he said the opposite, unless you're talking about
the early 1960s and Reverend Wright.

In fact, he asked the black community not to get into thinking that this
is what is holding them back:

"that path means embracing the burdens of our past without becoming victims of our past."

"Obama blamed the following: a corporate culture rife with inside dealing, questionable accounting practices, and short-term greed; a Washington dominated by lobbyists and special interests; economic policies that favor the few over the many. "

What exactly does this have to do with "crumbling schools stealing the future of" American children?

Is BHO trying to shift the blame for the failure of our educational system (to educate American kids) onto corporate America? For decades our educational system has been run, like a fiefdom, by liberal educators and teacher's unions, but now BHO is telling us that corporations are to blame? Right!

So, questionable accounting practices are to blame? How about questionable financing practices? Like those that allowed BHO to purchase his home?

In his ‘race’ speech BHO says that the “American people were [“hungry’] for…[my]…message of unity.” So, a man who attends a church whose guiding principles are basically black separatist, wants us to believe that NOW he’s interested in uniting us? Or, is he just talking softly to us (making no sudden moves) so that white voters won’t be afraid of him?

BHO also said, “...we've heard my former pastor, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, use incendiary language to express views that have the potential not only to widen the racial divide, but views that denigrate both the greatness and the goodness of our nation; that rightly offend white and black alike.” So, BHO heard this divisive, incendiary language, yet clung tightly to the church and Rev. Wright? And, we’re supposed to believe that BHO believed none of it, but out of some kind of twisted loyalty, couldn’t manage to leave the church or stop listening to the racist rhetoric spewing from the Reverend’s mouth?

Not too bright for a man who desires to be President of the United States, and who’ll need every white vote he can muster to achieve his goal.

Play the race card
Until Obama and his hate filled "preacher" I haven't really thought about black nor white. I have admired people for who they were/are. Character is what is important. There are so many people, aside from Tiger Woods, who I admire greatly in all walks of life - politics, medical, film, sports etc.

This time the race card was played by blacks - we have discounted the continuous race hating by the three race pimps, Jesse Jackson, Sharpton and Farrahkan, however Obama and Wright have opened the door by playing victimhood and the blame game.

I seriously doubt Obama's alliegence to this great country. If you loved your country you would not sit in a church for twenty years and listen to it being bashed. I was ten years old when Pearl Harbor was hit - if during those war years we would have heard Wright - he would have been hauled off. Too bad we have few patriots left. Obviously Michelle Obama would not qualify - I do wonder about her husband.

Obama - The Disengenuous Candidate
Cliff May offers, "Let’s stipulate that Obama is being honest when he says he endorses none of this."

Of course, Obama does not endorse Wright. He only joined Wright's church for political gain. It gave him the street credentials to accumulate the power base to acheive political power. He used Wright's friendship, church and parishoners to catapult him into a political power position. It was brilliant. He gained one of the most politically powerful positions in the the USA: US Senator.

Now, he has a dilemma: He wants to be the next President of the USA, yet, has this very nasty relationship with a locally populist Wright that does not translate very well with America. So, what to do?

He has two choices: 1. Admit that he used Wright's friendship and congregation; or 2. Pretend that he was a dunce and never, in over 20 years, noticed that Wright had a dark side.

Obviously, he chose the latter, hoping that Democrats would conveniently overlook the disengenuous gesture that he did not know Wright had a dark side. Of course, the Democrats, as always, drink such silly Kool Aide for breakfast (such as, "I never had sex with that woman").

However, the "undecideds" that generally vote right of center in presidential elections may not be so easily swayed. At least, I hope not.

Obama is a fraud
and a liar.

His nomination by the Dems. will make this problem worse than Swiftboating.

He's lied about Wright and his church of vile and bile, his position on NAFTA (then sent emissaries to Canada to assure the gov't he's only joshing), and the true nature of how we could withdraw from Iraq (then sent emissaries to the Pentagon to say it's all political blather).

Such a person, running under a banner of freshness, candor, change, and basically political innocence will be eaten alive by the press as DNC Chair Dean was when it really looked like he might get nominated.

I loath Hillary personally, but she is at least really bright, has been involved in executive gov't vicariously through Bill for 30 years (which is some form of experience), and knows no one can be engaged with tens of thousands of troops in distant, crucial lands and just walk away.

Obama knows nothing of economics, is proposing the exact same circumstances as 1929 for the US finances--more protectionism, more taxation, more gov't interference, just when what the nation needs is less taxation, less gov't regulation, and less gov't-planned economics. He's cruising for a war loss, and is evidently too young to remember the Carter economy and America's world standing after the fall of Saigon.

People support him at their peril.

Throw 'em under the bus...

Rev. Wright credits Prof. Jim Cone with systematizing the principles of "Black Values System", the theology used by Rev. Wright in the Trinity United Church of Christ.

How about Rev Wright's affinity for Hamas' Mousa Abu Marzook? Using the church newsletter to print Marzook's anti-Israeli/Pro-Hamas manifesto? Think it's possible O'Blame-Ya didn't SEE that publication?

Barry might be able to fool some of the people with his 'candidate of change' BS but he is just another dead-beat Dem lusting for power & willing to do or say whatever it takes to get it, to me.

I don't think you read Obama's book. He very honestly long ago admitted that he joined a church for political gain. However, he was moved by the reverends love of God and found he was glad he had done so. Churches usually like getting people in, on any pretense. It often has the same effect on others as it did Obama. He never pretended that Wright said unconventional things, he was an ex marine for Petes sake, but that he actually wasn't present on the "God D@@ sermon, and there is proof he wasn't.

on ladders and typical
"In the white community, the path to a more perfect union means acknowledging that what ails the African-American community does not just exist in the minds of black people; that the legacy of discrimination - and current incidents of discrimination, while less overt than in the past - are real and must be addressed. Not just with words, but with deeds – by investing in our schools and our communities; by enforcing our civil rights laws and ensuring fairness in our criminal justice system; by providing this generation with ladders of opportunity that were unavailable for previous generations. It requires all Americans to realize that your dreams do not have to come at the expense of my dreams; that investing in the health, welfare, and education of black and brown and white children will ultimately help all of America prosper."

These ladders would be equal laws and enforcement, "investing in the
health [so and so forth of all children]"

You are seeing those kids as someone else's and that is your wont, but
Obama sees them as "our kids" that would include your kids sans pareil.

Reading more into the words about ladders is a guess at best.

Sans Pareil, what do you read into it?

Typical white person was a poor turn of phrase, typical anyone is a poor
usage because almost no one thinks they are typical. He did go on to
say that this did not make his granny a racist. See my comments at the
Prelutsky article for this and link to video explaining it.

debishop, why did that quote matter because sans pareil claimed he
blamed white people. this is not so. He blamed who I quoted.

his message is one of uniting and his resume is one too, if you can
excuse one hour per week. And yes you are to believe that. Vote for
the person and his ideas not his wife, his minister, his brother, his
classmate, or hers. But it's your vote you can do with it as you wish.

"Not too bright for a man who desires to be President of the United States, and who’ll need every white vote he can muster to achieve his goal."

To which Obama said:

"We can play Reverend Wright’s sermons on every channel, every day and talk about them from now until the election, and make the only question in this campaign whether or not the American people think that I somehow believe or sympathize with his most offensive words. We can pounce on some gaffe by a Hillary supporter as evidence that she’s playing the race card, or we can speculate on whether white men will all flock to John McCain in the general election regardless of his policies.

We can do that.

But if we do, I can tell you that in the next election, we’ll be talking about some other distraction. And then another one. And then another one. And nothing will change.

That is one option. Or, at this moment, in this election, we can come together and say, “Not this time.”

In one ways tired
I can't say "I'm in no ways tired." I am tired in one way: tired of people who want to feel victimized, that no one outside their group can understand them, but that they can understand the deepest motives of people they've never met. The great majority of people have had to overcome many obstacles and deal with people who don't like them for no apparent reason. Please get past the delicious feeling that you've been singled out for martyrdom. If we throw a big pity party for all the victims, will they please just take responsibility for themselves and help move the country forward? It is true that a rising tide lifts all boats.

are pretend and admit the same thing?
"2. Pretend that he was a dunce and never, in over 20 years, noticed that Wright had a dark side."

Obama says he did not hear and was not present at the words that are
on the networks, but he does say:

"I have already condemned, in unequivocal terms, the statements of Reverend Wright that have caused such controversy. For some, nagging questions remain. Did I know him to be an occasionally fierce critic of American domestic and foreign policy? Of course. Did I ever hear him make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church? Yes. Did I strongly disagree with many of his political views? Absolutely"

I know many of you must be wondering how I know so much about
what Obama said during his speech the answer is I read it.

See link above if you would like to do same.

Sorry, but sans pareil comments are irrelevant to what I was talking about. I asked you about why BHO blames corporate American for the failure of our educational system. You never answered it.

So, BHO wants to bring us together, except for one hour a week? I’m supposed to excuse him for one hour a week, while he attends church and listens to bigoted, anti-American sermons? Does BHO, as a member of that church, only practice the lessons taught there for one hour a week? I’m sure the Rev. Wright would be saddened to hear that.

BHO has little on his resume—but that’s the point isn’t? There was nothing there for the American people to know. Chicago politician, one term US Senator. Who is the man? There was no there, there. He was a blank slate; with only his “message” to define him, which he gladly did on his own terms.

But the slate is no longer blank. BHO complained in his speech that we can “make the only question in this campaign whether or not the American people think that I somehow believe or sympathize with [Rev. Wright’s] most offensive words.” And many of us have pondered that question.

Actually, that would have been a good spot for BHO to categorically state that he didn’t sympathize with Wright’s most vile words; but he didn’t do that. Did he? No, he launched into comments about Clinton and McCain.

BHO repudiated his caring grandmother, revealing her inter-most fears and private revelations, while equating her fears to the racist hatred of Rev. Wright. BHO had no compunction about disavowing and demeaning his grandmother, while steadfastly refusing to renounce Rev. Wright, choosing instead to stand by the hate-monger.

And, I hate to break the news to you and BHO, but the content of his character, and his long-standing association with a race-bating preacher, isn’t a mere “distraction.”

I can only hope that the American people come together in this election and say to BHO, “No, sorry, not this time.”

I'm White and Indian
And Obama is my color too. I think, that We The People should vote that half of the News Reporters who like to stir things should be given a different job out of the country. "Did he?"

Yes.

Yes he mentioned them.

The story of his grandmother was truthful no doubt and shows that
Obama can hear views he does not agree with and still love that person.
He renounced what Wright said not Wright, just as he does for his granny.
If you don't think he should have brought up his granny I can respect
that. But what does she think that is more important.

cross post to help reading comprehension
everyonesfacts writes: Friday, April, 04, 2008

Here's Obama from the speech:

"The profound mistake of Reverend Wright’s sermons is not that he spoke about racism in our society. It’s that he spoke as if our society was static; as if no progress has been made; as if this country – a country that has made it possible for one of his own members to run for the highest office in the land and build a coalition of white and black; Latino and Asian, rich and poor, young and old — is still irrevocably bound to a tragic past."

"Ironically, this quintessentially American – and yes, conservative – notion of self-help found frequent expression in Reverend Wright’s sermons. But what my former pastor too often failed to understand is that embarking on a program of self-help also requires a belief that society can change."

"But race is an issue that I believe this nation cannot afford to ignore right now. We would be making the same mistake that Reverend Wright made in his offending sermons about America – to simplify and stereotype and amplify the negative to the point that it distorts reality."

continued
"But the remarks that have caused this recent firestorm weren’t simply controversial. They weren’t simply a religious leader’s effort to speak out against perceived injustice. Instead, they expressed a profoundly distorted view of this country – a view that sees white racism as endemic, and that elevates what is wrong with America above all that we know is right with America; a view that sees the conflicts in the Middle East as rooted primarily in the actions of stalwart allies like Israel, instead of emanating from the perverse and hateful ideologies of radical Islam."

eastlake joe writes:
"That still only says that he made a mistake, not that he was wrong. . . .
"that could mean anything including that he made a mistake saying it when he did."

Actually, he did say he was wrong:

"As such, Reverend Wright’s comments were not only wrong but divisive, divisive at a time when we need unity; racially charged at a time when we need to come together"

Again this can be found in his apparently
HARD TO COMPREHEND SPEECH, which can be found here:

http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2008/03/18/text-of-obamas-spe ech-a-more-perfect-union/

obama racism
article good but there is no need to 'discuss' racism
it has long since been shown that negros [yes a viable word] with self respect are fully capable of 'unlimited' oppurtunity and those that do not embrace 'racism'

"The story of his grandmother was truthful no doubt and shows that
Obama can hear views he does not agree with and still love that person.

Then Barack - "Don't tell me words don't matter"- Obama said his grandmother a "typical white person".

dwight, that is what Obama said - he even used himself as an example.

xpressit, already covered this. go!

No, I didn’t ask you why you used that quote. Please re-read my post and try to keep up. You quoted BHO talking about crumbling schools and then you said he “blamed the following:” … and then you quoted BHO blaming corporations, etc. And now you’re saying as far as you know “he doesn’t” blame corporations? What was he blaming corporation for then? You quoted it, not me.

And please stop trying to sell the notion that BHO didn’t know about, never heard it in person, never heard talk about, had no clue about it, wasn’t in the loop, was sick that day and stayed home, or didn’t get the memo about the vile things HIS PREACHER, FRIEND, MENTOR, and ADVISOR of 20 years was saying. As they say down South, that dog won’t hunt, son.

Yeah, I see your point, community activist and college law review (oh, sorry, “powerful law review”), now those are two qualities I always look for in the person I want as President. And, yes, being a governor, or even a general, does give a person a certain level of administrative experience--gravitas, as you liberals say--that helps when it comes to governing an entire nation.

What you can’t comprehend, pal, is that BHO didn’t do or say anything publically to repudiate Wright until AFTER the Sh*t hit the fan. So, we’re supposed to believe him when he tells us that he told Wright “in private” about how “wrong” Wright was. And, of course, he told all of us before his speech and during his speech, ad nauseam, how “wrong” Wright was. But it kind of loses it’s impact when you know he’s only saying it because he got busted.

everyonesfacts...
And, then BHO takes 5,000 words (the Gettysburg Address x 17) to absolve himself of blame. (This guy’s as long-winded as Castro.)

Interesting that he mentioned Wright ministering to AIDS patients; and, of course, BHO never knew about Wright’s sick claim that the “white man” invented the AIDS virus just to kill the black man.

I can measure the content of his character by the content of his speech. And, on that score, your man comes up lacking. Just ask Geraldine Ferroro, whose only mistake was saying that if BHO were a white man (half white doesn’t count in Obamaland), he wouldn’t be in the race at all. So, as far as BHO is concerned she’s every bit as evil as Wright, and worthy of being pitched under the bus, like granny. Except BHO never does throw the good Rev. Wright under the bus; however, he did make him get off the bus.

BHO says, “Not once in my conversations with [Rev Wright] have I heard him talk about any ethnic group in derogatory terms.” Not one negative comment slipped past Wright’s lips, not a “honky” or “kike” reference ever graced BHO’s ears in all those years of listening to Rev. Wright. BHO is either a studious liar or a blind fool.

Yeah, the guys got a lot of character, it’s just not the kind I admire.

minimum requirement for POTUS
Shouldn't the minimum requirement for someone running for POTUS be love for his country?

Obama hates the US and wants to change everything about it. He married a woman with the same chip on her shoulder. He is allergic to wearing a flag pin or putting his hand over his heart for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Of course. He's pledged allegiance to only the black nation through his church and his substitute father the terribly wrong Rev. Wright. Then he lied about not agreeing with Wright's bigoted views and had the nerve to say they were justified because of poor Rev. Wright's "suffering" at the hands of whites. It appears even the most privileged semi-black will blame whitey when push comes to shove.

The man is a raving socialist on top of it all.

He has not run a phone booth.

He lacks a single qualification to lead this great nation anywhere except over the cliff.

His white liberal supporters are so obsessed with proving their progressiveness by voting black that they are deaf and blind to the actual shabby little Wizard of Oz in the thousand dollar suits.

This isn't American Idol, folks.

You posit that at least Hillary is bright and has some (vicarious) experience and thus is aware of some of the realities.
I think you're right, but I can see yet another reason why she would be a less noxious choice than her opponent, and that is that once in office, the press and congress (two forces that tend to keep a president in line) would have no qualms about ripping into her or (in the case of congress) ignoring her.
Both on the other hand would bend over backwards to kowtow to Mr. Obama, and that would seriously undermine the great check-balance tension that our forefathers built in to our system.

Read the speech if you want to know why and how Obama used this.
