Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

When it comes to dealing with the illegal immigration issue, President Bush and his administration are their own worst enemies. On other issues, the president is sugar and spice when it comes to Democrat opponents. But when it comes to rule-of-law conservative opposition to his “amnesty” proposal, the preferred method of operation is akin to thwacking the hornet’s nest with a stick.

You may recall that when the Minutemen first brought this issue to major public attention a few years ago with their volunteer border patrols, President Bush called them “vigilantes.” And it’s been pretty much all downhill from there, leading to his big May 29 speech on the current immigration reform proposal at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Georgia.

The president began his remarks by introducing two Hispanic members of his administration, Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez and former Cabinet member Mel Martinez, now a U.S. Senator from Florida. Both were born in Cuba. “I want to mention those two men because, to me, they represent what the immigration debate is all about,” the president said.

So right out of the chute the president misrepresents the issue. I don’t believe Gutierrez and Martinez are illegal immigrants. They and/or their families immigrated here legally. And it appears both came here to escape the oppression of the Castro regime, not to simply get a higher-paying job. So Gutierrez and Martinez are NOT what this immigration debate is about. The issue is over those who break the law to get here.

The president then recounted exactly what the individuals training at FLETC were there for: “You’re going to safeguard our ports of entry, you’ll investigate workplace immigration violations, and you’ll arrest those breaking the law. We are a nation of laws, and we expect people to keep the laws. And if they break the laws, there will be a consequence.”

Yes, and according the president that consequence for some 10-12 million (and counting) illegal aliens who have already broken the law is…a path to citizenship.

And the president still doesn’t understand why so many people are opposed to this?

The president then patted his own administration on the back for how significantly it’s changed immigration enforcement over the years. “One way to measure how things have changed is look at the budget,” the president said. “We’ve doubled the funding for border security since I took office.”

Yes, that’s one way to measure how things have changed; usually the Democrats’ way. Simply throwing more money at a problem doesn’t fix it. If it did, the public school system in this country would be the envy of the world. It’s not. This type of “mo’ money” mentality is part of the reason why the president has lost so much of his fiscal conservative base since taking office.

The president next insisted that his administration has taken border security seriously. “As a matter of fact,” the president said, “we take it so seriously that I asked the governors to put some National Guard troops down there until our Border Patrol agents got trained.”

As if. The president was dragged kicking and screaming to put troops on the border. The governors of California, Arizona and New Mexico took the lead in this regard because Washington and the Bush administration refused to act. The Bush folks only finally and reluctantly took border enforcement seriously because they were forced to. It’s rather disingenuous to now try to take credit for that action.

Next the president took credit for ending what became known as “catch-and-release,” the process whereby an illegal alien was caught, arrested and then released with the understanding that the illegal alien would return for a deportation hearing. “Well, the problem was the people didn’t want to come back for their hearing,” Bush explained. “They generally wanted to go to work and so they would just disappear.”

Good grief. According to this statement, illegal aliens didn’t show up for their deportation hearings because they didn’t want to lose time on their job, not because they didn’t want to be sent back home. And he said it with a straight face. Talk about misrepresentation.

Nevertheless, the president took credit for ending catch-and-release, saying, “It sends a strong signal to people: If you come to the country, we will find you, and we’re going to send you home, so don’t try to come in the first place.”

This is laughable. Earlier this month there were protests and demonstrations all across the country by illegal aliens. It was on all the networks. So it didn’t exactly require Dick Tracy to find people who have entered this country illegally. They were giving media interviews, for crying out loud! Now exactly how many of those folks were on the receiving end of the president’s “strong signal” and were sent home? I mean their home in their native country, not the one here.

The president next talked tough about cracking down on businesses who hire illegal aliens - as though employers are somehow responsible for doing one of the few constitutionally mandated jobs of the federal government. “It’s against the law to hire somebody who is here illegally. That’s the law,” the president declared. “And the message to employers, if you’re hiring somebody here that you know is illegal, we’re going to - - there’s a consequence to be paid. That’s what a nation that bases its system on rule of law does.”

So a restaurant owner who only wants to hire someone who will show up on time and wash the dishes is going to pay a criminal price if the employee turns out to be an illegal alien who somehow slipped past the president’s new-and-improved, tough-as-nails border security measures. But what about the illegal alien who broke the law in the first place, putting the poor restaurant owner in jeopardy? Why, he gets a path to citizenship! What a deal.

Employers shouldn’t be responsible for immigration enforcement. How is the average small business owner supposed to know if the Social Security card and driver’s license he’s presented with by a job applicant is real or a forgery? And if he decides to do a little extra checking because the applicant has a Hispanic name, he gets nailed for “profiling.” The poor schlub is in a no-win situation.

The president next complimented ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency) for making “more than 3,000 arrests for immigration violations since the beginning of this fiscal year.”

Great, only 9,997,000 to go…give or take a few million. Not bad for 15,000 employees on a bare-bones taxpayer-funded budget of just $4.2 billion. That would be one arrest for every five employees at a cost of only $1.4 million per arrest. Yep, we’re really getting our bang for our buck there, aren’t we?

OK, yes, that was two parts sarcasm mixed with one part hyperbole on my part. But if the president’s gonna do it, so am I.

Now we get to one of my favorite lines from the president’s speech: “It’s important for our American citizens to understand that the immigration system is in desperate need for comprehensive reform.”

No, Mr. President. The American people understand this issue perfectly well. We do not need “comprehensive” new immigration laws; we simply need to enforce the existing laws.

We tried this “amnesty” thing some 20 years ago. Gave just about everyone who was illegally in the country a blanket get-out-of-jail-free card. Now, 20 non-enforcement years later, you want the American people to believe that if we just give you your guest-worker program - complete with a path to citizenship for people who have entered the country illegally – then you’ll really, really, really start enforcing the immigration laws of this nation.

Sorry, but in the immortal words of Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott of the Starship Enterprise: “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.” Or as The Who succinctly put it, “We won’t get fooled again.”

And while we’re on the subject of trying to fool most of the people some of the time, the president again reiterated what is perhaps the biggest fraud of this entire illegal immigration debate; that illegal aliens are doing “jobs Americans aren’t doing.” He repeated the claim multiple times during the remainder of the speech.

“There are no such jobs,” pointed out economist Thomas Sowell recently. “Even in the sector of the economy in which illegal immigrants have the highest representation -- agriculture -- they are just 24 percent of the workers. Where did the other 76 percent come from, if these are jobs that Americans won't do?” So much for that argument.

It was at this point that the president became down-right insulting.

First he praised senators “who put politics aside and put courage first” in supporting his “comprehensive” bill. He applauded them for doing “what’s right, not what’s comfortable” in the face of criticism. Or put another way, those of us who don’t support his amnesty-by-another-name proposal are cowards who are wrong and are simply playing politics.

The president next said, “A lot of Americans are skeptical about immigration reform primarily because they don’t think the government can fix the problems.” (Well…duh) “And my answer to the skeptics is…give us a chance to fix this problem.” The president continued: “For decades we have not been in complete control of the borders and many people have lost faith in our capacity to get control of the borders. (Well…duh) I ask them to look at what’s taken place over the past years, recent years.”

Ummm…they are, Mr. President. The government has had over 20 years to fix this problem since the last amnesty was sold to us. And you have presided over the last six. We tend to think we’ve given y’all plenty of chances to fix this problem already. Our patience has grown thin.

Next the president advised that his bill would “promote tamper-resistant identification cards…that some document forger can’t foist off as a document for somebody to come and pick peaches here in Georgia.” The president desperately wants us to believe this whole issue is about nothing more than peach-picking in Georgia. Totally disingenuous.

But this tamper-resistant ID card idea presents a whole host of additional problems and new concerns for both American workers and employers. Will you and I, American citizens, have to get one of these new tamper-resistant ID cards in order to pick peaches in Georgia? I don’t know about you, but I’m not good with that.

But if every prospective peach-picker isn’t required to present a tamper-resistant ID card, how’s an employer supposed to know which applicants are legal and which aren’t? And the first time an employer asks an American citizen named Julio Valdez to present a tamper-resistant ID card, he opens himself to a rash of lawsuits and EEOC complaints. So while this tamper-resistant ID card sounds great on the surface, it’s a whole new nightmare (unless you’re a lawyer or government bureaucrat) waiting to happen.

At this point, the president began singing the praises of his proposed amnesty…er, guest-worker plan. “If you’re interested in securing the border, wouldn’t you rather have Border Patrol agents chasing down terrorists and gun runners and dope runners as opposed to people who are coming to do jobs Americans aren’t doing?”

What the president is saying here is that if you oppose his “comprehensive” immigration reform proposal, then you’re responsible for terrorists, gun runners and drug dealers not being caught. But the really outrageous thing about this statement is the fact that there are two Border Patrol agents sitting in jail right now - Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean - for chasing down a notorious drug smuggler, shooting him in the butt and capturing him. Funny how the president failed to mention that. Disgraceful that he hasn’t yet issued a pardon for these Border Patrol agents.

Time to talk about “amnesty.”

“Amnesty is forgiveness for being here without any penalties, that’s what amnesty is,” the president explained. “I oppose it. The authors, many of the authors of this bill oppose it. This bill is not an amnesty bill. If you want to scare the American people, what you say is the bill is an amnesty bill. It’s not an amnesty bill. That’s empty political rhetoric, trying to frighten our fellow citizens.”

Talk about empty political rhetoric. Here we go again with the ol’ Humpty Dumpty routine: “When I use a word it means just what I choose it to mean – nothing more nor less."

As the president explains, his “not amnesty” bill will allow an illegal alien to apply for a “Z” visa. To get the “Z” visa, which will enable him or her to continue working here, the illegal alien “must admit they violated the law and pay a meaningful penalty, pass a strict background check, hold a job, maintain a clean record, and eventually learn English.” Then, if the illegal alien who broke the nation’s immigration laws to get here wants to become an actual citizen, he or she “would first have to pay an additional fine” and “return home to file an application for your green card.”

Let’s put this in another perspective: If I break into Sen. Ted Kennedy’s Massachusetts home and move into one of his spare bedrooms, as long as I pay a fine, pass a background check, keep a job, stay out of trouble and speak drunkenese, I can continue to live there.

And if I just pay a little bit more of a fine, I can actually become a member of the Kennedy family, as long as I return briefly to Nevada and fill out some paperwork. The fact that I broke the law by breaking into his home in the first place doesn’t mean I have to move out. I’m forgiven, and won’t suffer any penalty other than having to pay a little fine.

But that’s not amnesty, right?

Back to the president bashing opponents of his “not amnesty” bill.

“This reform is complex. There’s a lot of emotions around this issue. Convictions run deep. Those determined to find fault with this bill will always be able to look at a narrow slice of it and find something they don’t like. If you want to kill the bill, if you don’t want to do what’s right for America, you can pick one little aspect out of it, you can use it to frighten people.”

Un…be…lievable. According to the president, Americans whose “convictions run deep” on this “complex” and “emotional” issue “don’t want to do what’s right for America.” And the amnesty aspect of the proposal isn’t anything major; heck, it’s only a “narrow slice” of the bill. And anyone who disagrees is just trying to “frighten” people. Talk about how to win friends and influence people.

Well, at least he didn’t call us all a bunch of vigilantes this time. So I guess that’s progress. But if I wasn’t offended by the bill itself before, I am by the president’s insulting characterizations of opponents in this speech, along with his mischaracterizations of the issue. And that’s enough for me to conclude that this latest “comprehensive” reform scheme still sucks eggs and deserves a quick and painful death. Hasta la vista, baby.

Neither Hunter or Tancredo
Will become the Republican Candidate even of 100 percent of the voting public (republican voters)wants them.

They are not owned by the CFR and the the International Bankers as the others are, and GW Bush is.

Notice how the President spoke about us saying:

"If you want to kill a bill, then you just go around America saying, this is amnesty. In other words, there are some words that illicit strong reactions from our fellow citizens. Amnesty is when a person breaks the law and is completely forgiven for having done so. This bill isn't amnesty. For those who call it amnesty, they're just trying to, in my judgment, frighten people about the bill."

According to Webster's Online Dictionary, the word "amnesty" is defined as follows:

1. A period during which offenders are exempt from punishment.
2. A warrant granting release from punishment for an offense.
3. The formal act of liberating someone.

Double tongue, split tongue, forked tongue, all apt descriptions for his BS!

If this man is so intent in his willful lying and double talk to us citizens, sneering down his nose at us over the meaning of words, you gotta know he is agenda driven and not about truth telling, nor is possible with such an attitude.

Proverb from the bible

Pr 29:2 -
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

So who is happy with Bush?
The criminals who are invading this country.

The law abiding citizens are left to do the mourning.

To Virginia
Virginia,

I've been supporting Tancredo, but I like Hunter just as much. Though I doubt either one can get the Repub nomination. Not enough people know who they are yet. Most people who don't live out west ever heard of them. It's so frustrating.

joyce
It may come to that. The best way to win is to get Duncan Hunter nominated as the GOP candidate. Third party is an option later if we can persuade him to do that. I sent a check to Hunter today.

No way, Jose
I just love these Congressturds who make these sweeping changes the vast majority of Americans don't want, and then expect US to pay for them! We already pay for way too much of their wasteful ideas. Enough is enough.

A pox on both their houses.

Vote third party...Tancredo/Hunter of the Conservative Party.

WE DON'T TRUST OUR GOVERNMENT ANYMORE
BUSH KEEPS PLEADING TO GIVE THE AMNESTY BILL A CHANCE! HE WANT US TO GIVE HIM A CHANCE AFTER 7 YRS OF YOUR DOING NOTHING ABOUT THE BORDER?? WELL THEN, MR BUSH....SECURE THE BORDER FIRST.

ONCE THE 865 MILES OF FENCE IS BUILT AND IT'S COMPLETELY SECURED AND A PERIOD OF A YEAR GOES BY WITH VIRTUALLY NO ILLEGAL ENTRY. THEN WE CAN BEGIN TO TALK ABOUT GIVING THE US GOVERNMENT A CHANCE FOR AN ORDERLY GUEST WORKER PROGRAM. BECAUSE UNTIL THEN, WE HAVE NO REASON TO BELIEVE YOU CAN OR WANT TO CONTROL THE BORDER.

AMERICANS HAVE NOTHING AGAINST MEXICANS AT ALL. THEY ARE VERY NICE PEOPLE. WE HAVE SOMETHING AGAINST ANYONE WHO ILLEGALLY BREAKS INTO OUR COUNTRY. AND WE HAVE SOMETHING AGAINST POLITICIANS WHO ARE STABBING THE AMERICAN TAXPAYER IN THE BACK, BECAUSE WE HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS ABOMINATION!

WE ARE JUST AS STUBBORN AS YOU ARE, MR. PRESIDENT! AND WE HAVE THE NATION'S BEST INTEREST AT HEART, UNLIKE YOU AND CONGRESS WHO SEEM TO CARE MORE ABOUT MEXICO. MAYBE YOU SHOULD ALL GO RUN FOR OFFICE IN MEXICO AND THEN WE WILL ALL BE HAPPY.

poor put upon immigration opponents
i find it fascinating that the same rhetoric which was used against those of us opposed to this presidents war policy now is highly offensive to conservatives like hawkins.

when it is used in a different context against dems and liberals, not only did some conservatives applaud but continually repeated it.

hawkins makes this statement;

Un…be…lievable. According to the president, Americans whose “convictions run deep” on this “complex” and “emotional” issue “don’t want to do what’s right for America

so dems and liberals had convictions that run deep on the complex and emotional issue of WAR and people like hawkins said the exact same thing about them.

that they didn't want to do whats right for America and were traitors if they didn't support absolutely everything george bush wanted to do in iraq.

when the rhetoric is aimed at liberals, some conservatives cheer, when it is aimed at them they are highly offended.

i doubt most conservatives will get this but how does it feel to be hoisted by your own petard.

hypocrisy thy name is conservative republican
-------------------------------------------------

You own hypocricy with this reading of conservatives.

Unlike the hypocrites (like you perhaps?) on the left, conservatives fight for principle, issues, beliefs.

IDEAS, not people, like the dumb among us on the left.

This has never been about the man himself, and only liberals think in such terms.

I just know you will not get such a simple answer (as to why I now as a conservative) and why I will fight the President as hard as I did Billy bob Klinton.
Or any other such hypocrite as he is

Ron Paul on Illegal aliens
Border Security and Immigration Reform

The talk must stop. WE MUST SECURE OUR BORDERS NOW. A nation without secure borders is no nation at all. It makes no sense to fight terrorists abroad when our own front door is left unlocked. This is my six point plan:

1. Physically secure our borders and coastlines. We must do whatever it takes to control entry into our country before we undertake complicated immigration reform proposals.

2. Enforce visa rules. Immigration officials must track visa holders and deport anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law. This is especially important when we recall that a number of 9/11 terrorists had expired visas.

3. No amnesty. Estimates suggest that 10 to 20 million people are in our country illegally. That’s a lot of people to reward for breaking our laws.

4. No welfare for illegal aliens. Americans have welcomed immigrants who seek opportunity, work hard, and play by the rules. But taxpayers should not pay for illegal immigrants who use hospitals, clinics, schools, roads, and social services.

5. End birthright citizenship. As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be citizens, the incentive to enter the U.S. illegally will remain strong.

6. Pass true immigration reform. The current system is incoherent and unfair. But current reform proposals would allow up to 60 million more immigrants into our country, according to the Heritage Foundation. This is insanity. Legal immigrants from all countries should face the same rules and waiting periods.

"As for me and my business, I will hire Mexicans!"

If you're talking about illegal aliens, well then, you sir, are breaking our laws.

Here's hoping Americans wise up and elect either Paul, Tancredo or Hunter to office, so you'll have an up close and personal encounter with ICE.

You American?

Great column! 5 checks!
Click my name to read "The Bush Legacy" for another take that reaches the same conclusion.

The Bush legacy: it ain't gonna be pretty.

Repairing up the Bush-ravaged GOP
Another year and a half of Dubya's bull-headed screw ups like the scamigration screw up, and he will alienate most of the GOP.

"Dubya" and his boy Rove are history.

They (almost deliberately due to they wanted Democrats to do their scamigration bill) blew the majority that President Reagan and Newt built up and left for us to maintain.

So who comes next? The Democrats really are even worse, though that seems hard to beleive right now.

How do we repair the Bush-ravaged GOP?

First, he needs to bow out gracefully. Stop screwing up everything.

The GOP candidates. O.K. folks, I used to like all of the GOP candidates. But no more. One has shot himself in the foot.

Senator John "Amnesty" McCain is no longer viable. In fact, he's a real danger to the nation.

But we still have some good choices. One stands head and shoulders above the others.

Duncan Hunter will likely continue to gain support thru the convention.

Who will be Hunter's V.P.?
Who will be Hunter's:
Secretary of Defense,
Sec. of State,
etc.?

http://www.GoHunter08.com

Who do you want to replace Mel Martinez as chair of the RNC?

Let's start now with our rejuvenation of the GOP and plan for "Dubya" to depart.

Don't forget Sen. McCain's
work in this. He was for making this a quick and sneaky backroom deal. If he runs for anything now it should be dog catcher or latrine cleaner and I'll still not vote for him.

Did someone feelings get hurt?
First things first. President Bush didn't bash anyone, get over it. Let's get something else straight here. What took the Intellectual snobs in the party so long months before the November elections to start attacking the Illegal Immigrants. Why didn't the Intellectual snobs attack the Illegal Immigrants months after we were attacked on 9/11. Why did the Intellectual snobs wait until the November elections to make such an important issue of it. We are constantly being told by the Intellectuals it's all about National Security. Why didn't they care about National Security months after we attacked on 9/11. Can you see the point here. Years after we were attacked and months before the November elections we woke up one morning and found we were in grave danger from the Illegal Immigrants. The Intellectuals say nothing about the OTM (other then Mexican) in their ranting and raving. They carry on about the Illegal Immigrants the way the Democrats carry on about the war in Iraq. There's one talk show host who owns up to why he is attacking the Illegal Immigrants. Sean Hannity is the only one who comes out and proclaims if President Bush did it his way, the Sean Hannity Immigration Bill then all will be OK. This is what it's really all about. When Bill Crystal blindsided Harriet Miers for the Supreme Court every Intellectual came out of the shadows and demanded that President Bush do things their way because they weren't going to be taken for granted anymore. Every Intellectual has made Illegal Immigrants their issue for their legacy to do what Bill Crystal did to Harriet Miers. The Intellectuals want to run the party and especially President Bush. The Illegal Immigrants is only a ways and means to do it without coming out and saying we run the party now Republicans. Let's get something else straight here. The Intellectuals are in it for themselves, not the Republicans or Conservatives. Their inflated ego is what got bruised. President Bush didn't attack anyone. Isn't it funny how the Intellectuals in the party has turned on President Bush on a drop of a dime the way the Democrats turned on the war in Iraq and our troops. Not every Intellectual can have their name on the Immigrant Bill for their legacy to go along with their over inflated ego's. The Democrats had to come to terms on timetables on the war funding bill and the Intellectuals are going to have to come to terms also the way the Democrats had to. Until the 2008 elections, President Bush is in charge, get over it.

Dancers
For all you leftwing posters who are dancing in the street over the fact that rightwingers are angry at Bush, here's something to think about. Those on the rightwing side have every right to be pro their elected officials as leftwingers. Most voters vote FOR someone because they support them. Most smart voters should hold those for whom they vote, accountable. Religouslib, above, declared that conservative republicans are hypocrites because, I suppose, they are bashing Bush.

No, no, no. That's not hypocritical. That's paying attention to what may or may not be good for the country. I'm telling you, from where I sit, it is a real shocker if and when a leftwinger EVER says anything about their pols. You folks are going to have to worry about the country sometime, and give your political heroes hell when they deserve it. Shoot, Ted Kennedy thinks he's good, for crying out loud.

Thanx for the link to the Peggy Noonan op-ed piece-- it is an exceptionally cogent and salient indictment of how the Bushes (father and son) and Bushies abandoned conservative principles... if you just tuned in, I urge a read at the direct link here:

Some on the left TOTALLY misread many of us on the other side about Presidente Jorge-- you people can HAVE the sorry xxxxxxx! He is as lost as you folks are! He wandered off the reservation of reason some time ago!

The whole globalist, NAU, open borders, neoCON proactive foreign policy agenda (let's impose democracy on the ignorant foreigners) is spooky, tangential and dangerous. When we SHOULD be truly enforcing ILLEGAL immigration laws, we are instead welcoming them in with a get out of jail free/ally ally in come free card and promise of welfare benefits. Great Caesar's Ghost!

speaking truth to power, America!
Encouraging news, Middle America-- while it is true that the Conspiracy Of Evil (see definition just below) expected to cram this thru Congress, and some variation may well pass the Senate, we ARE successfully rattling their cages. See power of the other side here:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/05/15/AR2007051502022.html

A pundit yesterday said that ANY RINO Senator will tell you that calls are running against the inchoate Scamnesty bill 100:1. The other side IS powerful (organized and monied), but YOU are answering them with what they sometimes fear in Congress-- the vox populi... popular opinion/votes! Keep up the pressure-- see how just below!
________________________________________________

Have you noticed how many columnists are speaking out against the BS served up by the apologists for ILLEGAL aliens, speaking truth to the power of the Conspiracy Of Evil? [miscreant employers; scandal-ridden Catholic Church leaders seeking replacement contributors; open borders, NAU globalists seeking unrestricted cheap labor; the weird, anti-America, multicultural, PC crowd; leftists seeking a permanent entitlement Big Brother government; self-aggrandizing pols].

They say that Presidente Jorge and many in the Senate are dumbfounded that Middle America is so irate about the pending Scamnesty. [Then again, it does not take much to perplex Dubya!] The truth is that the remote "elites" see the ILLEGAL invasion in theoretical terms. The massive, monied organized lobbies they hear most from make them imagine that it is a sure thing that we should naturalize 15-20 million (who would turn into 60-100 million just like them soon enough!) undereducated, indigent, ethnocentric, "cheap" laborers... that America "must have them to do all of those jobs Americans won't do." THEIR children do not go to schools decimated by the ILLEGAL invaders... the rich LIKE their cheap ILLEGAL help nodding deferentially as they tend their lawns and mow the fairways at their private clubs as the "elites" walk by to climb into their Mercedes SUV's.

But Middle America in its straightforward wisdom sees through the shell game... it realizes that the teeming masses of uneducated, indigent ILLEGAL alien laborers are REALLY only benefiting a few business owners (who do NOT pass on the "savings") at the unbridled expense of ALL... that the downside of letting them all naturalize here will be CATASTROPHIC... that Americans would be MUCH BETTER OFF if employers simply paid a bit more to hire Americans-- like they always have before. Indeed, the jobs at Armour, etc., are quickly filled by Americans after rare "show raids" clear out infestations of ILLEGALS.

Amazingly, even the new LIBERAL-commissioned CBS/N.Y. TIMES poll says that Americans oppose key goals of apologists for ILLEGAL aliens and the architects of the pending Scamnesty:

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/25/us/25poll.html?pagewanted=print

TIMES poll excerpts:
"Most of those polled agreed that illegal immigrants should eventually be allowed to APPLY to become American citizens. BUT 59 percent said illegal immigrants should be CONSIDERED for citizenship ONLY AFTER legal immigrants who have played by the rules." [Ergo, no path to amnesty! This question was disingenuous-- other polls show that a substantial majority opposes a path to citizenship for those who came here ILLEGALLY UNLESS they go home first and get in line-- that says: NO SCAMNESTY!]

"In the poll, 75 PERCENT of those who responded favored TOUGHER PENALTIES FOR EMPLOYERS of illegal workers, and 82 PERCENT said the federal government should DO MORE TO REINFORCE THE BORDER."

"Among those polled, a majority of 51 percent favored overhauling the American immigration system to make it more attuned to economic demands, GIVING PRIORITY TO JOB SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENT. Only 34 percent said that immigrants with family ties in the United States should take precedence."

Here are some more objective, detailed poll results which show what happens when the questions become more precise about views on immigration and what we want America to be:

Middle America reads the dire warnings of Heritage about the TRUE all-in costs and gets righteously indignant against the weird Conspiracy Of Evil which attempts lamely to brand us "racist" and "zenophobic" for common sense reckonings that America CANNOT absorb masses of the undereducated indigent without morphing into what those poor people are trying to flea from. SEE HERITAGE SUMMARY HERE:

political winds; Scamnesty implications
They say that Sen. Juan McQuisling is fading further lately in large part because he is (rightly) tied to Scamnesty... OTOH, Romney has gained some ground for speaking out against the Scamnesty bill, and similar opposition (even more vocal by Fred) is seen as a key plus among those hoping that Fred Thompson will take the plunge.

I have maintained for some time that if the Republican candidate truly makes an issue of stanching ILLEGAL aliens and Shrillary or whoever whines about their "rights" and "compassion," the 'Crat will suffer greatly. Fully 68% of Americans are opposed to what has been passing as "immigration" of late:

http://www.cis.org/articles/2006/back906.html

Actually so far the 'Crats have been smarter on this thing than the RINOS. They have watched with a smirk as RINOS welcome ILLEGALS amid foolish fantasies that they can snag some of the votes given their alleged "conservative social values." [What, pray tell, is "conservative" about rampant illegitimacy, dropout rates, gangs, barrio blight, crimes, and willful disparate, alien ethnocentricity?!]

Holy Mary, mother of God-- the indigent, ignorant ILLEGALS will inexorably vote for leftist big entitlement government! If Middle America fails to radiate the cancer of the ILLEGAL alien tsunami soon, the PC left "elites" (see ilk of Shrillary, Edwards, etc.) will control indefinitely as we morph ineluctably into a third world shell of our former societal greatness and socio-economic strength amid the giant sucking sound of the government black hole devouring everything productive for the madding crowd of indigent, undereducated, former invaders... the killer bees will take over and spoil the big hive.

NUKES THRU MEXICO (Newsmax)?????????????
In November 2004, another key al-Qaida operative was captured in Pakistan. He told interrogators that the terrorist group had arranged to smuggle nuclear supplies and tactical nuclear weapons into Mexico, then to transport them across the U.S. border with the aid of a Latino street gang. The gang was later identified as Mara Salvatrucha – a group Adnan at met with during his visit to Honduras.

This article is so great
And I do so agree with it!!!!

Ought to email it to the White House. But it would just get tossed in the trash like every other objection sent by his base.

STOP ANY REP. DONATIONS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RNC is "very, very surprised" that the donations to Rep. party went down by 40%.
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let's knock it down to ZERO!!!!
Stop any donation NOW!
When they've called me, I always said: "close the borders and then we'll talk".
Never called me again....

Behold, our single Republicrat Party
Bush's appalling words and actions on this issue just goes to confirm that not only is he not conservative (in fact, anti-conservative), but he & the Republican Party leadership serve the same elite internationalist totalitarian interests and agendas as the Democrats.

Exactly who and what are we supposed to believe he's pandering to? It doesn't even make bad sense, unless you accept the theory that he actually wants to garner support for Democrats, because that's just another wing or division of the ruling party of which he is currently the most prominent spokesperson. If the GOP and the Demmies are just two wings of the same single ruling institutional party, then it would make sense the GOP wing can play 'bad cop' & 'win' rather than lose by driving the electorate towards the Democratic 'good cops.'

The most fundamental duty of the head of state of a soveriegn country is to axiomatically defend and reinforce that soveriegnty and independence. It follows that a distinction must be made between citizens and noncitizens. One sure way to dilute and erode that independence and identity is to fail to define and defend the borders and to control persons who have no allegience or identity with it, i.e. noncitizens. To do otherwise, especially to make huge numbers of such persons full citizens, is to invite destabilization. We now stand at the brink of that condition, yet GWB continues to fiddle while Rome burns and wag his finger in the faces of his erstwhile rank-&-file support.

Moreover, there is this big concern with 'national security.' In the name of 'national security' we are enduring restrictions and harassment on air travel, and ongoing casual warrantless surveillance of our activities, something only a totalitarian state should need or have use for. 'National security' is reflexively cited as rationalization for increasing casual surveillance of citizens even more. Well, excuse me, if you're not going to take border security and hunting down illegal aliens a first, obvious, low-hanging-fruit, priority, right out of the box, then it follows ipso facto that you are not really serious about 'national security' in any real sense, but merely in using public fears and terrorism hype as a vehicle to advance totalitarianism.

One of the most infuriating lies told about this issue is this line that "we can't deport 12 million people." If there are 12 million people in this country who are liable to deportation under the law, we have an emergency on our hands, essentially a foriegn invasion. Bill Clinton, of all people, showed us exactly how this can be done. Remember when he had armed INS swat troopers kick down doors and nab an undocumented alien whose refugee case was still in court, so he could be forcibly deported to the country he came from? Have the ICE saddle up ALL their armed troopers like that, and start systematically hunting down the OTHER illegals who don't happen to be frightened little Cuban boys that Castro wants back as a propoganda prize.

If a fraction of the effort expended on catching drivers not wearing seat belts & harassing smokers was devoted to rounding up illegals, the job would get done almost overnight.

As to 'overwhelming state and local law enforcement,' heck, those guys have been TRYING to round up illegals and turn them over to the feds for decades, and basically getting the finger for their trouble. They and their taxpaying constitutents wouldn't mind a bit, if only the federal government would make their efforts fruitful by simply carrying out their own legal responsibility. Here's a clue, Unc Sammie: when state and local police bring'em in or report them to you, GET THEM, & KEEP THEM.

I don't see how "this is the best bill you can possibly get - it's this or nothing" is a serious threat. No bill would be preferable, because no bill means current law stays in force.

Legal Residency is IMMEDIATE,no fine...
..no paying taxes,no English, nothing.

The Right thing for America..
Is NOT Amnesty!
This bill gives a legal right to be in our country to EVERY illegal immediately upon it's signing by the President. That is amnesty!

***understand they will not pay fines, taxes,or touch-back because THEY DON"T WANT TO BE CITIZENS! THEY JUST WANT TO BE LEGAL RESIDENTS WHICH THIS BILL GIVES THEM IMMEDIATELY!

1.ENFORCE THE LAWS WE HAVE!
2.Retain our right to DEPORT any illegal we choose. Personally I choose all gang members, felons(especially violent), DUI offenders, druggies, child abusers etc.
3. Punish Employers according to LAWS ON THE BOOKS!
4. No social services for Illegals- pass a Constitutional Ammendment if necessary. Stop the "anchor babys" again another ammendment if necessary.
5. Seal the borders- and let the Border Agents actuall PROTECT OUR BORDERS! there's a concept for ya!
6. BUILD THE FENCE CONGRESS ALREADY VOTED FOR!!

****By the way all you social libs who like to feel superior because of your affinity for the little guy--Here's a CAUSE for you--FREE Agents Campeon and Rameriz 2 U.S. Border agents IN PRISON for shooting an illegal DRUG SMUGGLER in the a** as he was ILLEGALLY attempting to cross OUR BORDER!
Since we anti-amnesty folks are all bigots against latinos - MAYBE YOU CAN GET'EM OUT!

Constitutional Amendment
Wish we could pass a constitutional amendment banning "Stupid". But then we would never ever get another bill through congress and past the Supremes. Oh, wait, that is another argument for the amendment.

If you take all this stuff seriously, it will kill you.

Hillary
Two effects of a Hillary Rodham Clinton presidency:
1) Like Bill but without the charm, she will antagonize multitudes in the two years after she wins the presidency. Although I can not promise a 1994 sweep due to numbers, a 2010 mid-term with strong Republican gains can be assumed.
2) Hillary is strong-willed just as the Republicans are weak-willed. She will force a liberal re-emergence on the Supreme Court by replacing Ginsburg, Stevens and Breyer and eventually Souter, Kennedy and Scalia if she can last eight years. The chief reason for social conservatives to remain involved in politics will subside as they will realize the Supreme Court and their pet issues are as far from their grasp as Pluto is to the sun.

Wow. Just wow!

I knew it was bad, but I didn't realize it was THIS bad.

I know that 2 + 2 = 4, but here comes Professor Bush telling me that 2 + 2 = 5.

I don't care how many times he tells me I am stupid for not knowing that 2 + 2 = 5, I KNOW that it equals FOUR.

The problem for Bush and his idiotic follows (like Isakson, Graham, etc.) is NOT that we don't understand the bill. His problem is that we DO know about the bill.

Who wins with this bill? Democrats because they get voters. Big business because they get cheap labor. The lawbreaking illegals because they get a reward for their transgression.

Who loses? The American taxpayer and America's poor.

THANK YOU
thank you, Mr. Muth for giving us all the facts.

Take Back The Government writes,
"Picture just ONE STATE voting to Secede
from a TREASONOUS UNION. It would set off a CHAIN REACTION in the American political landscape."

Kinda like, which mouse is going to put the bell on the cat's neck?????

Five Stars
I am a long-time Bush supporter who has put up with ridicule and hostility for several years overseas speaking out for his policies, and this article explains so well the insult and the outrage that I feel over this monstrosity of a bill. Sheesh, he's nicer to Ted Kennedy than he is to his most loyal supporters!

Why Is Georgie So Adamant
Just what is it about the illegal immigration mess that has President Bush flying in the face of his Main Base Support?
Does he have more love for foreign criminals than for his own fellow Americans?
What drives him to be so blind as to what he and the pro illegals are doing to our country?
Why are the wishes, needs and desires of Americans secondary, to him, to those of foreign nationals who have nothing but contempt for our laws?
Does he have a giant corporation on which he wishes the cheap labor?
Is he repaying a debt to someone else who benefits from cheap illegal labor?
Or maybe someone has pictures of him naked, in bed, with an 8 year old boy?

Finger Print and Passport Photo
As a veteran, I have my finger prints and photo on record with the FBI. Why not with Social Security? Why is it not required that to get your SSN you have to provide everything you need for a passport and that information is set up in a FBI/SSN/INS database for rapid verification when a company reports employees? What is the problem with federal verification of SSN numbers and fingerprints? Why do we have to worry about identity theft? If employers had to register them and pay the medical/education/insurance/tax bills of these illegal aliens they would think long and hard about using them instead of citizen labor.

poor put upon immigration opponents
i find it fascinating that the same rhetoric which was used against those of us opposed to this presidents war policy now is highly offensive to conservatives like hawkins.

when it is used in a different context against dems and liberals, not only did some conservatives applaud but continually repeated it.

hawkins makes this statement;

Dumber than 1986 amnesty
And still, I've never gotten a satisfactory explanation of why it would have been impossible to round up and deport 3 million illegals then (and over 12 million now) when countries with much worse transportation systems (even currently) have done much larger movements of population.

One solution would be to annex Mexico entirely (as it makes up the vast bulk of the illegals) and deport those illegals who WEREN't born there (smaller numbers should be easier, right?). Radical, but it also kills more "birds":
(1) Aztlan movement--as their contention is to "take back" some territories Mexico lost in 1845 (no more Mexico--so who to take back for?)
(2) need for any counties to provide free (read taxpayer-funded) healthcare to illegals--since they're now Yanks, they can now say "show your plan, cash or Chargex".
(3) US can send National Guard (with full armaments) after criminal gangs now hiding in Mexico (which would now be part-and-parcel of US) to ANNIHILATE.

Bush is NOT insane nor compassionate
Bush is just going ahead with long held plans for a North American Union. He and his elite buddies know exactly what they are doing , Sure, he is frustrated by the peoples getting his way...but being the decider he won't let that stop him. He will attack the very people who have supported him through various debacles like Iraq, Katrina,Gasoline hikes etc.......because his ultimate responsibility is to his elite friends. Tony Snow was for open borders before he ever joined thuis administration...(google his columns beforehand). The resulting mess they will create doesn't bother them as they sit in their gated communities far from the maddening crowd. IMEACH HIM if for nothing else than abdicating his responsibility to protect this country.

I am
A horrible typist, and will seek to recover from this failing through a spell check from now on.

Forgive me for not taking the time to proof read my own posts

5 STAR
Article

So WELL written!

Why cannot we find such sound minds in any leadershup from DC?

Because DC has been BOUGHT by enemies of we the people, and is why Jorge Bush has become the wolf in sheeps clothing.

This man is twisted by his own sense of power and darkness of thought.

He leads into anarchy, not to unity.

Deport, Employer penalties
A country that has spent $ 500 billion on Iraq has the resources to round up millions of illegal aliens. On top of that, enforcement of laws on the books can work if tried by the executive branch. If the CEOs and employemnt directors of transnationals like Tysons Chicken, Smithfield and Swift were arrested, forced into orange jump suits, tired and imprisoned for hiring illegals, much of the problem would go away.

Deportation of millions. Severe employer penalties. That's the way to go. You don't even have to build a wall to accomplish major steps to solving the problem.

Immigration Reform - better than nothing
I like the comments from Jeb Bush and Ken Mehlman in a recent article from Wall Street Journal: “Today, those in the country illegally live and work without penalty. Doing nothing is the real amnesty.”

Impeach.. And 2008
There's little I can add to the many voices on this forum and the many other conservative forums regarding President Bush. He deserves to be impeached for a myriad of reasons, this immigration travesty tops among the reasons.

Worse, for conservatives, is that Bush has discredited conservatism and the Republican Party on top of destroying the morale of both. We're going down in 2008 and Hillary Rodham Clinton will be our next president. Thank goodness that she will wear about as well as Rosie O'Donnell and we'll have massive gains in 2010.

Muth is Right ON
Bush has sold out to the drug lords and expects us to go along quietly. Not me. Enforce the borders and the existing laws and the problem goes away. And there is no such thing as an anchor baby born to illegals. Read the 14th amendment and Jacob Howard (who wrote it) comments. Google it and you are smarter than most of the presidential candidates.
Check this guy out. wwww.teamtancredo.com
Dumbing down hasn't worked on him.

I'll take you up on that secession idea
Jeff Davis had it right when he said.
"I would rather leave the Union with the Constitution than stay in the Union without it"
It was Bush that called the Constitution "that G-damn peice of paper"

"Amnesty"
Outstanding article!
Hey Rocky Jone, do you really think this country would have been better off with ALGORE?!!?!? That guy is a complete nut! He thinks hugging trees will save the planet and that we are going to disappear through "global warming." ALGORE has no common sense. Voting for Bush was the lesser of two evils. Voting Republican is the lesser of two evils. The Democrat's party platform calls for the redistribution of the wealth, supporting the homosexual agenda, supporting sexual immorality in general, supporting abortion and the destruction of the military. All these have led to the destruction of our society. And you think ALGORE would have been better than Bush?!?!?! Typical liberal - no common sense.

Bush Pulls Border and Airport Screeners?

President Bush has once again demonstrated poor judgment on protecting our Country. Does anyone think it is a good idea to pull border agents and airport screeners to guard candidates?

Currant-WASHINGTON — The U.S. Secret Service expects to borrow more than 2,000 immigration officers and federal airport screeners next year to help guard an ever-expanding field of presidential candidates.

Propaganda
Did you hear Tony Snow on O’Reilly last night? The scamnesty propaganda machine rolls on. Now the spin is that if we tried to have any large scale deportations, it would so overload law enforcement and the courts that the system would break down and they would be doing nothing else, that every other function would be stopped cold. Talk about blatant scare tactics and dishonest rhetoric. Is he actually insinuating that every deportation is a vast, expensive, time consuming bureaucratic procedure? Is he trying to make us believe that every illegal alien is entitled to a trial before being deported?
Every time a Scamnesty propagandist opens his mouth, I am
again actually stunned by how stupid they think we are.

Bush has broken the GOP
His insanity to kowtow to the Mexican drug lords (and don't try racist crap with me as I tracked those drug lords for over 18 years for the govt) and create indentured servants out of all American citizens has broken, if not destroyed the GOP. Republicans that want a job past 2008 best reconsider continuing to label Bush the head of the GOP for long.

Dave Stone, the Republican
party is NOT solely responsible for where our country is at today, so don't even go there with the blame game. Also, just look at how the Democrat Congress has behaved (or not behaved is more like it). Just give them another year and a half to implode based on what we have seen so far since they won the majority this past November.

El Presidente's "Scamesty"
Que lastima, Jorge. It seems that he just threw gasoline on the firestorm of cricism for his irrational immigration "piece of s--t bill"... quoting a prominent Congressman in the House. Our "lame duck" prez is calling his former Base" insulting names. LOL

This backroom deal is so inherently flawed..It is beyond the pale that the Gang of Traitors who concocted this sell-out of America would actually think they could get away with it!
The Republican Dunces in the Senate who are still trying to patch up this seive of Bill need to understand that they can't lose something they never had, or will have...coveted Hispanic votes.
If certain political cowards think that the wrath of the American people will not be upon them... Voting for this Travesty which would destroy our national sovereignty, security and throw away our children's birth-rite...
if they vote to hand over legal status within 24 hrs to every Law-Breaker here on the dole already, including Gang Members, Mideast Jihadis, and the diseased, thereby creating another magnet...(and they know these people will NOT be scrutinized)...They need their heads examined... Stop the Insanity...

Never thought I'd agree with a liberal
On this though, I really don't mind. I'm not opposed to Bush resigning, or impeachment, or whatever anymore. But my reasons are far different than the left's reasons, which are dangerous. I think Bush is too far to the left. This immigration bill is so unconstitutional. It gives rights which should only belong to American citizens to people who broke the law to get here.

Maybe Cheney could help us out for a couple years before we have to suffer through the communist president's term: Hillary.

Great article

Now do one on the 30 BILLION DOLLARS (say it like Dr. Evil) going to Africa for (allegedly) HIV prevention and treatment.

Something must be done to end this nonsense.

Boosh is a domestic terrorist
George W. Bush is a domestic terrorist and should be impeached, removed from office, and put on trial for war crimes and treason (amnesty) against the United States of America.

border security/Iraq
This scamnesty is insane. We have laws, but the pols refuse to enforce them.

I voted for Bush in '00 and '04, and have supported our effort in Iraq. No more. I think it is absurd that we have 100k troops in Iraq (more?) and spend billions of $$'s to stabilize that country, yet our prez says we can't secure our southern border (at least not without amnesty).

It's time to bring our troops home from Iraq and put them on our southern border. Then, we need to start VIGOROUSLY enforcing our laws regarding illegal immigrants. We don't have to round up the illegals and deport them. Just make it very difficult/impossible for them to make a living working illegally in this country.

Mr. Muth, as one other poster
said, "5 stars for this one." Thank you for taking apart Bush's speech and revealing the inconsistencies and ignorance of our President (whom I voted for twice but am now completely over the edge with the amNASTY bill.) It is completely beyond my understanding that so many in the the Senate and President REFUSE to listen to the people (liberals and conservatives)on this issue. What is the real story behind it? Also a shout out to one of my state senators, Wayne Allard, who nayed this bill before it ever got started.

As for the post from 'SA', does anyone know what on earth that person was trying to say? I am not sure the poster even knew what he/she was attempting to say.

Chuck
Great point by point dissection and analysis of the ridiculous and insulting speech directed at those of us that "aren't interested in what's best for America"!

All that was really lacking was for him to point and wag his finger at the camera like his lying predecessor! If he's not lying...he's either delusional or stupid as those on the left have been saying all along! (I'm ashamed to admit that I voted for this numb-skull twice!)

Rocky Jone, Why is it silly?
Do you care to elaborate? How do you propose fighting a government that has walked out on you??? Do you think writing your Congressman or Senator will do anything? It's a little late for that, don't you think? If neither party has ever done anything about it for 42 years, I doubt they ever intended to do so in the first place and here we are. The American States entered into this Union just as the colonists on the Mayflower entered into a Compact(a contractual agreement). The implicit obligation of the federal government was to provide protection; this duty has been abandoned. Why then must States feel obligated to this contract? The Civil War was about States' Rights that were being trampled by a supermajority in another part of the Union. Isn't that similar to what is happening today with the exception being that the government in DC is now trampling on the entire nation? Don't you think it far sillier to remain in such a dangerous situation?

Press Rel: NO JOBS w/out Homeld Sec. app
No jobs for US citizens without Homeland Security approval
Submitted by Canada IFP on Sat, 2007-05-26

US citizens who apply for a job will need prior approval from Department of Homeland Security under the terms immigration bill passed by the Senate this week.

American Civil Liberties Union pointed out that the DHS's Employment Eligibility Verification System (EEVS) is error plagued and if the department makes a mistake in determining work eligibility, there will be virtually no way to challenge the error or recover lost wages due to the bill’s prohibitions on judicial review.

Even current employees will need to obtain eligibility approval from the DHS Within 60 days of the Immigration Reform Act of 2006 becoming law.

"EEVS would be a financial and bureaucratic nightmare for both businesses and workers," said Timothy Sparapani, ACLU Legislative Counsel. "Under this already flawed program no one would be able to work in the U.S. without DHS approval - creating a ‘No Work List’ similar to the government’s ‘No Fly List.’ We need immigration reform, but not at this cost."

The act allocates US$400 million for the implementation of the EEVS, but the Congressional Budgeting Office estimates the system to cost in excess of a billion dollars.

Immig. legis threatens our sovereignty
AMNESTY PLAN ADVANCES NORTH AMERICAN UNION

Rep. Edward Royce, a high-ranking conservative California Republican, says that a White House-backed amnesty plan for illegal aliens has provisions which undermine the national sovereignty of the U.S. and help facilitate development of a North American Union, much like the European Union that supersedes the sovereignty of 27 European countries. He vowed to defy the White House and mobilize House Republicans against the bill, backed by what he called the "open borders lobby."

Immigration ‘Compromise’ Sells Out Our Sovereignty

by Congressman Ron Paul, May 31, 2007

There are many other very troubling items buried deep in the Senate’s immigration compromise. The bill explicitly calls for an “acceleration” of the March 2005 agreement between the US president, the president of Mexico, and the prime minister of Canada, known as the “Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) of North America.” This somewhat secretive agreement – a treaty in all but name – aims to erase the borders between the United States, Canada, and Mexico and threatens our sovereignty and national security. The SPP was agreed by the president without the participation of Congress. It should be eliminated, not accelerated!

According to the pro-Second Amendment Gun Owners of America, the legislation also makes it easier to target gun dealers for prosecution. Even gun clubs could find themselves targeted under this immigration reform legislation.

BUSH'S SIBILANT S's

Not only did we listen to this Bush blather, we had to listen to it complete with his sibilant s's.

Bush had a lot going for him -- the American people primarily. Now we are at the point where even his manner of speech grates.

And this says nothing whatever of the content of his speech, which is mainly vacuous, particularly with respect to the amnesty plan. Oops, I meant the comprehensive immigration plan.

Sam
If this is the article you're referring to, I don't see where it says he'll be talking about any of the issues you mention.

Are you referring to a different article?

Picture just ONE STATE voting to Secede
from a TREASONOUS UNION. It would set off a CHAIN REACTION in the American political landscape. The seeds of political revolution will have been sown. The American People will be ON FIRE with the fresh rush of newfound political power. White People of the Conservative persuasion instead of the neo-hippie persuasion may for once actually get off their hindsides and protest in the streets against the federal government and the legions of lunatics in the Democratic party. It would cause a political maelstrom in America that DC would have no choice but to notice.

Kennedy analogy
I guarantee that there are no Mexicans, blacks nor any other minorities anywhere near the Kennedy compound in Hyannis. They heard the view might be obstructed in a couple of years with wind turbines. Nothing scares away minorities more than an ocean view obstructed by wind turbines just beyond the horizon.

March for America Events June 14, 15, 16

March for America June 14, 15, 16 Washington D.C. and state capitols across the country. Be there or be without a country.

Great Piece!
You get five checks for that one.

Rocky,

After 9-11 I wanted blood. I still do. When we took Iraq, I thought "Alright, now we have Iran surrounded and we are right in the heart of Islam. Now let our military men REALLY kick some Muslim a**!" But everything stopped after Iraq and Bush has decided to bog us down in a pussyfoot diplomatic struggle.

Having recently read the Koran and some supplemental texts, I know that the problem is NOT some radical group that has "hijacked" a peaceful religion. The problem is Islam itself. I therefore view the WoT as mostly an immigration issue.

Bush has failed on both counts, and I'll let you know that I didn't vote for him in the first GOP primary and I wasn't allowed to choose in '04.

So ultimately, who did the reasonable have to choose from?

Gore? Kerry? Get real.

BTW, just wondering. Would you support a moritorium on all immigration from predominately Muslim countries and a military presence on our borders and ports if it ment ending the war in the Middle East?

Lame Duck
Pres Jorge Bush is a lame duck, those who support S.1348 should be DEAD ducks.

Blind People
There is nobody more blind than the one who does not want to see, The reality of this issue is not about making you or making a group of people happy by rejecting people based and their legal status, to work illegaly is a civil offence to kill is a crime and I don't see a traditional value on mixing this concept, stop walking with your eyes closed this 12 million people are not new in here they been here for long time.

Your analogy using Kennedy's name says alot about your self

Whoa
Dead on. I'm speechless.

The Kennedy analogy was close...
...but they have a fense surrounding it with security to keep the unwashed out.

NO WAY JORGE BUSH!
Hi Chuck,

You were DEAD on with that article today. President Bush and Congress have lost their minds. WE Need to have OUR OWN RALLY! I loved the analogy about breaking into Ted Kennedy's spare bedroom, and by paying a fine, you become a member of his family. It's sad just the same that Congress and our President are clearly selling out the law abiding, tax paying, legal, voting citizens of this country. We need to OUST any member of Congress who supports this nonsense. Many Americans do NOT know that if the bill passes, illegals become legal immediately and will be on "probationary status" but will receive a social security number and a work permit which even if the so-called "triggers" are never accomplished and ZVisas do not get issued, they can remain in this "probationary status" living and working legally in the U.S. for the rest of their lives!! They would never have to pay a fine, go back home, etc. Let's face it NO ONE is going to "touchback" and go home for anything. They came here, they are staying.

President Bush and the Senate are now trying to force the "No Alien Left Behind" Bill on the American people, and we are not going to put up with it anymore. NO WAY JORGE BUSH!

Two terms is too long...
This is what two terms will do to a president. Bush is arrogant beyond belief, thinking that no matter how much he insults his base, they'll have nowhere else to go.

If this bill becomes law, it'll be one of the biggest sellouts ever.

Enforcement first. Build the fence - all 700 miles and make sure that enforcement is effective.

Then, offer one path to citizenship - go back to country of origin and get in line.

It seems we find ourselves
Up that well-know body of water without the proper means of locomotion.

Is Bush snorting again?

Thank you
That was a great article & I agree whole heartedly!
