Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

I don’t usually make predictions, but here’s one I’ll venture: If, God forbid, an attack by home-grown Islamist radicals occurs on American soil, many, if not most, of the perpetrators will have converted to Islam while in prison.

I am hardly going out on a limb here. I said this first in 2001. The spread of an especially virulent form of Islam within American prisons is obvious to those of us who have spent time in these prisons. It’s the rest of American society that is in denial. Now, thanks to a new study, ignorance is no longer an option.

The study, titled “Out of the Shadows,” concluded that “the U.S. . . . is at risk of facing the sort of homegrown terrorism currently plaguing other countries.” The source of that risk, according to researchers from George Washington University and the University of Virginia, is “[America’s] large prison population.”

“Radicalized prisoners” within this population “are a potential pool of recruits by terrorist groups,” the study says. The sources of radicalization are incarcerated Islamic extremists and outside organizations that support them. The report notes that the absence of “monitoring by authoritative Islamic chaplains” permits “materials that advocate violence [to infiltrate] the prison system undetected.”

Some of this material is provided by known al-Qaeda affiliates. It “[urges Muslim prisoners] to wage war against non-Muslims who have not submitted to Islamic rule.” As a former employee of a radical Islamist group who is now a Christian told a Senate committee, “I know of only a few instances in which prisons rejected the literature we attempted to distribute - and it was never because of the literature’s radicalism.”

Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine) was correct when she called the situation “an emerging threat to our national security.” The obvious question: What do we do about it?

The study recommends the creation of a federal commission to “investigate this issue in depth.” It says that an “objective risk assessment” is “urgently needed” so that “officials [can] address this issue now, rather than [managing] a crisis later.”

I agree wholeheartedly, but let’s get on with this. We already know what the study has concluded. I’ve been telling “BreakPoint” listeners and readers and Prison Fellowship supporters about this for years. Now we have more than anecdotal evidence. We have a study from two prestigious universities on our side.

Still, I can’t help but note an irony here: The largely unimpeded spread of radical Islam through our prisons coincides with increased opposition to the one really successful antidote - that is, the presence of Christianity.

An obvious example is the lawsuit against our prison program in Iowa. Programs like ours are working. We have studies to prove it. And they are the best solution to the alienation and rage that fuels conversions to radical Islam, as well as gangs and other hate groups inside the prisons. Making it harder for organizations like Prison Fellowship to operate within prison walls leaves jihadists and other radical groups as the only game in town.

Unfortunately, opponents like Barry Lynn of the Americans United are blind to this, which puts more than the program at risk - because, as we saw in the case of the shoe bomber, Richard Reid, groups that are now operating in the shadows of our prisons are a real danger to us.

Atleast...
...we know where they are in the prisons. We just need to develop an awareness of who these radicals are and track them.

You guys need to get serious
Such recipes as "Gas the prisons" and "or just execute them" are trite phrases which are unrealistic and, worse than that, allow us to take false comfort from an extremely serious situation and allows us to continue in our denial of the real problem with this country which is right before our eyes but we refuse to see.

The vacuum created by our rejection, as a nation, of Christ and His prescriptions, is being filled by all manner of wickedness and evil and we are powerless to stop it. Read Matthew 12: 43-45 for the definitive description of what is happening today; and not just in our prisons.

Of course, I expect the usual responses from the head-in-the-sand denial groupees, but the fact remains that only those already Christian will take much note of the irony of a challenge to a Christian ministry with documented success rates by a known unhinged radical like Barry Lynn being taken seriously by the court systems while Muslim proseltyzing goes on unhindered. Nor will they recognize this as being symptomatic and coincidental with other trends within the country.

God have mercy on us all.

THERE IS NO TIME
Or need for a Federal commission to "investigate this issue in depth" Any one with half a brain knows what the results will be and that the only solution is for all Muslims and Islamic Fascist to be eradicated from the United States. There is no time to play political games with these radicals, they themselves and their activities pose an imminent threat to US security without question and this is an issue that needs to be addressed immediately, and at priority level one.

Heads Need To Roll

CHUCK COLSON
Forgot to mention, thank you very much for bringing up such a very important issue, an issue that needs to be up front and in the face of the American public everyday for the security of the United States of America.

Prisons
I call your attention to what has happened in Brazil recently: a leftist criminal organization, which came out of the São Paulo prisons, practically burned down the state. They killed almost one hundred policemen and state officials(any policeman in the street was fair game)and burned down government offices and banks; even firemen were attacked while performing their duty. This criminal organi-zation came about through a big mistake made in the 1960' and 70's, when leftist terrorists were put in jail together with common criminals. The result: they politicized the common criminals and changed them into leftist terrorists. As I reacll it, this has already had happened in the USA, when the Black Panthers movement did the same to the Negro population. Islamic prisoners should be segregated, so as not to contaminate the easily inluenced prison population.

NRALifer, my point...
is not about solving the individual problems in society. That's a pipe dream anyway. And besides, in my opinion, it is too late for that now. The genie has been left out of the bottle and there is no getting him back in. The underlying foundation for addressing the problems has been systematically removed decades ago and the process continues. Barry Lynn and other such demagogues are simply the current manifestation of the cancer which has metastisized and is close to killing the patient.

My point has to do with a much larger issue and one in which ALL of the pathologies we wrestle with here in Townhall and other such venues are interconnected and make sense in a comprehensive way. From the rise of Islamic fundamentalism to the situation in the Middle East to the confederation of Europe and the rise of Globalism to the degrading culture in our own country and on and on. These are not merely isolated examples which we can address individually. That is simply a way to divert attention so the real problem cannot be seen and the individual cannot be saved.

And that's just for those who care enough to notice that there are problems; everyone else is simply too busy trying to get ahead in the world to notice that it is dying.

Bipsy Quee
"everyone else is simply too busy trying to get ahead in the world to notice that it is dying."

Amen to that.

Problems in Prisons
Are there any solutions to not only conversions to Islam but all the problems caused by our huge prison population? There have been suggestions of killing the prisoners and exiling them to islands. Killing them might seem convenient but it is too extreme. Exiling them to an island is an interesting idea but it will never be done but let us take a little time to look into it. If there was a secure island where you could put the worst prisoners you could put them there without guards and if they didn't have enough means to grow or hunt food you could just drop some food now and then and let them kill each other, form a society with laws or live however they wanted. It might make a good novel but it will never happen so are there any practical solutions. It becomes obvious that the best solution would be to revamp our society or at least the most troubling parts of it so less people end up in prison. In other words nip the problem in the bud, but we have been trying to do that and it never seems to work out. It would mean better education and more job opportunities. But evey politican promises this and none so far have delivered. The better education would have to include better moral education no matter how it is done but so called white collar crime is at times as bad as violent crimes. But in the short term can you improve problems in the prisons so that people will not choose to convert to radical Islam. Short of putting everyone in solitary the only way to do it would be to offer an alternative which is more attractive than Islam which could be in the form of education that really promises a future or moral instructions in another religion with also sometime that gives them opportunities to get out and get a real job and rejoin society. Any solution offering laternatives, or leaving things the way they are is going to cost money. The way things are is very expensive so it might be worth an investment to try to improve it.

The logic follows
Take a nihilistic gang banger, throw him in prison, where he "converts", and now you have a nihilistic Muslim. Perfect. No real change necessary, just the reason for the attack.

ProfGene
Sir: The reason it "never works out" as you stated is because the people you wish to educate have to be motivated to accept the education. As you can see with the current state of our public schools, there are far too few kids who are really motivated to learn, and many who are not, and just disrupt the class, making many teachers into nothing more than prison guards themselves.

All the Liberal claptrap about equality is just so much hot air, IMO. Although all men are created equal, some are more equal than others, and even the Romans understood that there will always be an underclass that has to be kept amused with "bread and circuses" or they'll riot. See East LA.

The Libs refuse to acknowledge that there will always be a head count, and they postulate that the only reason the ignorant aren't learning is because we don't throw enough money at them. Which, of course, is wrong. Some people are just naturally motivated to learn, others have parents that motivate them, still others have no academic talent and should be taught a trade.

I love the idea of taking the worst of the worst to a deserted, but livable, island and turning them loose. Either they will survive or they will kill each other, which in my eyes is justice. If you're in prison for the rest of your life with no parole, then why not live the rest of your life free of bars on a deserted island and have the company of your own kind.

Prison Reform
“The devil is walking to and fro on the earth seeking whom he may devour.” Of course, if you don’t believe the Bible, there is no common agreement from which to begin this discussion.

Men are inherently evil, we know that, and Islam, gangs, and radical leaders just feed that natural instinct to sin…that is why it is so simple to recruit…it is easier to be “bad” than to be “good” as one takes discipline and the Grace of God in our hearts, and the other just takes following your own innate sinful instincts. Most men in prison are already angry over dozens of issues, like family, the justice system, inequality, alienation in society, prison rules, pardon boards, parole officers, the inability to find work even if they want to go “straight” and our society has not addressed much of this…we merely warehouse these people not determining that “some” of them can be salvaged. I am not beating a drum for prison reform, but I am saying that we must get logical, pragmatic, and practical about trying to make the prison system work.

I believe that we should monitor what the Muslim services in prison are allowed to expound…the Imams, or whomever “preaches” should not be allowed to disseminate hate, mayhem, and incite the prisoners to either violence within the prison, or outside the prison. I am convinced there are no "moderate" Muslims...anyone who believes the Koran cannot be moderate. No other “religion” stirs up the baser instincts of men and encourages them to not only continue to be evil, but urges them to become more evil! Aren’t we in charge of the prisons? And forget the ACLU and the bleeding heart liberals, we must regain the upper hand in the system, and certainly criminologists should be able to figure out something. I don’t pretend to have the answer (except for accepting Christ as your Lord and Savior) but someone should at least be working on the problem.

Mr. Colson can tell you some incredible stories about prison conversions to Christ that were actually true and changed lives…I am amazed that he stays with this thankless job and continues to have a burden for these men that most people have forgotten. We should try to reach these men with love, not hate (as Islam does) and we should not allow radicalism to be taught in our prisons. Does all of this, and what else is going on in the world tell you that the end times are being orchestrated at this very moment, and the picture is becoming clearer and clearer every day…Be ready, for you know now the day nor the hour when the end will come! Praise the Lord!

Does anyone see
any correlation between the rising prison population rate and the disintegration of the family in the United States? Over 70% illegitimacy rate in the black community!! No one is raising these kids, not the lazy baby mamas who are only interested in the first of the month check, and definitely not the baby daddies who are absent from the picture entirely. Is it any wonder that we have to deal with such a dangerous sub-culture, these children grow up neglected, unloved, resented and unskilled, having learned NO morals in which to base their lives. From the CRADLE they are taught to use and get over on people.
And I am definitely NOT saying that this is a black only problem..
Simply put, if you withold love and structure, not to mention the basic right to a father, which is just as necessary as food and air, this is what you get.

What a great and Truthful post, I absolutely agree! I could not have said it better-

I've always thought it weird that Islam teaches that women are the repository of evil. That if a muslim male sees a little skin and it drives him to rape that it's the woman's fault. How sick is that? What happened to their much ballyhooed concept of "inner jihad?" The fight within against sin? Must be more BS like the rest of their belief system.

Prisons as incubators for Islamic unrest
Dear Mr. Colson,
Please encourage our Senators to take actions and limit the teachings in our Prisons. They are limiting your work in some places. There should be total approval of all materials taught and people who don't comply should be stopped from coming to the Prisons to teach.
We are talking about disillusioned young men who don't feel they are part of the nation and feel they are on the outside. It is partially racial and partially economic, and partially the need for young men to show their manhood. We need to beef up the schooling and educational opportunities and trade skills in Prisons so that these people have a dream they can realize. I know you know this better than anyone. Keep up the hard, good work. We do pray for you.
Peace, joy adn His love,
Billie Reynolds

This Article
This are article does bring to light a real security problem, but we have one growing right out in plain view that we better pay attention to. The presidential attempt by Hillary Clinton.
She does not want the presidency, she wants power! Once in the White House she will have the starting basis of the thing she wants the most! You think we had a problem with political correctness and the rewriting of history under Bill..............it won't hold a candle to what the Der Fuhrer Hillary will try and do.
God help us all if another Clinton gets into the White House, becuase no one else will!

Women evil?
"I've always thought it weird that Islam teaches that women are the repository of evil."

Yep, that's why they have to be drained every month. (humor, people)

Islam is...
not a valid religion. Islam is a front for a violent culture bent on ruling the world. Muslims (in America) are empowered by America's constitution allowing the free exercise of religion. Our religious feedoms allow the scourge known as Islam to grow stronger each day within America's borders. If Islam is not outlawed and eliminated, it will one day become too strong for the rest of the world, much less America, to resist/fight-off. It must not only be eliminated from prisons, it must be eliminated from the entire world. Fat chance of that ever happening, but I just can't see an end to this mess until an end to Islam is achieved.

God bless the USA

Cmiles
I am a Christian, but I honestly believe that Islam is a religion of peace. We've seen the distorted, heretical results of radicals who've hijacked the faith. I agreet that there groups and organizations and even countries that need to be defeated, and swiftly, but we really must be careful about labeling an entire group. I'm not a liberal or even moderate so I say this with gritted teeth, but I know it is true. I want to label all Muslims evil and violent and backwards after I watch planes flying into buildings and hear the death toll in Iraq grow each day. I love this country and my family and my God and believe with all my heart that war with the terrorists and their supporters is necessary. But we cant speak in complete generalities and blanket statements.

What we really need is for moderate Muslims here and abroad to speak out early and often against UBL and Syria and Iran. We need Americans to regain the moral clarity we had in WWI and II. It took us a while there to realize we had to fight, and it will take a while for us to come around again. The growth of Islam in our prisons will only be solved when our country collectively decides its time to take the War on Terror seriously. The 19 hijackers lived off the secular, God-less, welfare-entrenched society that Germany (Europe in general) created. We are not far behind them in our tolerance of lawyers/judges/liberals tearing the fabric of Judeo-Christian values and ethics from end to end.

We cannot and should not and will not eliminate Islam from our planet, but we should be un-apologetic about our love of God/country/family. Islamic countries such as Egypt hate the radicals as much as we do. That is why they plotters of 9/11 had to plan it in a socialist country where freedom of speech and fear of confronting evil was paramount to even keeping law-abiding citiznes safe. Loss of moral clarity.

Maybe it's time to rethink who we send
Maybe it's time to rethink who we send to prison. I read an article about an 18 year old given a 2 year sentence for possession of a few ounces of pot. I just finished reading a book about how the Feds use clever legal ploys such as using the fact that corporations have no 5th Amendment rights to make an end run on those accused of white collar crimes--And that Congress has been less than clear in defining what is criminal.

Prisoners
Chuck forgot to bring up the fact that most of these prisoners are Black with little or no education. Many started as wards of the welfare nanny state. One solution be to require dead beat dads and baby machine moms to get a JOB.

epistle to Jay
priceless

goofy

incendiary

when is the last time ANYONE ever heard a muslim just laugh? I mean just flat out BELLY LAUGH.

(as in NEVER?)

Like I did at Jay's post.

Mr. Ecko
I kind of agree with you that there are some moderate muslims out there but they are scared s....ess. But THEY are the ones who are going to have to rein in their murderous brothers and sisters if we are going to get through this. It's a delicate situation. Like there are moderates in the mideastern countries but they are very prickly and if you say ANYTHING they get upset and the excrement hits the air circulator. (can I get that one by the censor?)

Remember the book and the movie 'The DaVinci Code'?

The divinity of Christ is the bedrock principle of Catholicism. 'He suffered, died and was buried. On the third day He rose from the dead.'
According to the book and the flick this did not happen. What DID happen was that when Jesus was arrested some of his followers got his wife Mary Magdalene (Mrs. Jesus?) out of the country and took her to Gaul, where she gave birth to a baby girl and from that girl are descended most of the royal families of the first 5 or 6 centuries in what became Europe and there are still some remnants of those families today, etc.

meanwhile back in Jerusalem

Jesus is crucified and is buried. His followers in Jerusalem steal the body and bury it in some unknown place and begin to spread the fiction about his resurrection. They keep this up for 3 centuries, enduring persecutions etc. and finally in the 4th century the emperor constantine proclaims the divinity of Christ and proclaims Catholicism the state religion.

Ever since then the Catholic Church has been spreading this fable of Christ's divinity and has been protecting the real story at any and all costs up to and including murder. The Church is also contantly pursuing any descendants of the original daughter of Christ and when they catch them and identify them they kill them too.

The Church organization presently used for this activity is Opus Dei. This means that the late Pope John Paul II was either 1)incredibly gullible or 2)he was in on the whole thing, since in the year 2002 he canonized Fr. Jose Maria Escrival, who founded the organization.

I'll just cut to the chase - the book and the movie state that my faith and the faith of billions of people through the last 2,000 years is based on a fraud which has been concealed for 20 centuries by any measures necessary - up to and including murder - by (presently) a secret organization within the church itself.

Christian and Catholic reaction to the book and the movie? Opposition naturally, but to the best of my knowledge there have been no calls for the beheading of tom hanks or ron howard.

contrast to

muslim reaction to just two events -

1) 12 silly cartoons released last September in Denmark and then some muslim holy men (that's a good one!) spent 6 months stirring up the masses until about february of last winter the excrement hit the air circulator.

2) Pope Benedict XVI quoting a 14th century text.

My question - do these reactions not argue a FUNDMENTAL difference between the 2 faiths?

Living Rooms incubators

You don't have to be in prison to be indocrinated with
radical, leftist literature that is complacent with Islam.

Our living rooms are giving birth to this philosophy every day,
through Hollywood. Should we recall the troops and deploy them in California?

Laserbreath?
Should we recall the troops and deploy them in California?
***********

Oh, that was supposed to be a rhetorical question, right?

;)

Moderate Muslims?
Moderate Muslims have had plenty of chances and times of crisis to speak out but they have remained silent so I wouldn't count on them for solving the problems in the world caused by their religion. And nothing it does indicates it is about peace.

Change the Prisons
Bit of a tangent, but I've always thought something was wrong with the way prisons are set up.

If you accept that people are generally screwed up because other people have screwed them up, then won't cons get even more screwed up by living with a thousand other screwed-up people?

So, why toss them into a pool together? They should be left in cells alone. No room-mate, no yard.

Just make the cells big enough for a little exercise, open a window to shine some light through, and slide three squares under the door.
