Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

WASHINGTON -- Barack Obama is an immensely talented man whose talents have been largely devoted to crafting, and chronicling, his own life. Not things. Not ideas. Not institutions. But himself.

Nothing wrong or even terribly odd about that, except that he is laying claim to the job of crafting the coming history of the United States. A leap of such audacity is odd. The air of unease at the Democratic convention this week was not just a result of the Clinton psychodrama. The deeper anxiety was that the party was nominating a man of many gifts but precious few accomplishments -- bearing even fewer witnesses.

When John Kerry was introduced at his convention four years ago, an honor guard of a dozen mates from his Vietnam days surrounded him on the podium attesting to his character and readiness to lead. Such personal testimonials are the norm. The roster of fellow soldiers or fellow senators who could from personal experience vouch for John McCain is rather long. At a less partisan date in the calendar, that roster might even include Democrats Russ Feingold and Edward Kennedy, with whom John McCain has worked to fashion important legislation.

Eerily missing at the Democratic convention this year were people of stature who were seriously involved at some point in Obama's life standing up to say: I know Barack Obama. I've been with Barack Obama. We've toiled/endured together. You can trust him. I do.

Hillary Clinton could have said something like that. She and Obama had, after all, engaged in a historic, utterly compelling contest for the nomination. During her convention speech, you kept waiting for her to offer just one line of testimony: I have come to know this man, to admire this man, to see his character, his courage, his wisdom, his judgment. Whatever. Anything.

Instead, nothing. She of course endorsed him. But the endorsement was entirely programmatic: We're all Democrats. He's a Democrat. He believes what you believe. So we must elect him -- I am currently unavailable -- to get Democratic things done. God bless America.

Clinton's withholding the "I've come to know this man" was vindictive and supremely self-serving -- but jarring, too, because you realize that if she didn't do it, no one else would. Not because of any inherent deficiency in Obama's character. But simply as a reflection of a young life with a biography remarkably thin by the standard of presidential candidates.

Who was there to speak about the real Barack Obama? His wife. She could tell you about Barack the father, the husband, the family man in a winning and perfectly sincere way. But that only takes you so far. It doesn't take you to the public man, the national leader.

Who is to testify to that? Hillary's husband on night three did aver that Obama is "ready to lead." However, he offered not a shred of evidence, let alone personal experience with Obama. And although he pulled it off charmingly, everyone knew that, having been suggesting precisely the opposite for months, he meant not a word of it.

Obama's vice presidential selection, Joe Biden, naturally advertised his patron's virtues, such as the fact that he had "reached across party lines to ... keep nuclear weapons out of the hands of terrorists." But securing loose nukes is as bipartisan as motherhood and as uncontroversial as apple pie. The measure was so minimal that it passed by voice vote and received near zero media coverage.

Thought experiment. Assume John McCain had retired from politics. Would he have testified to Obama's political courage in reaching across the aisle to work with him on ethics reform, a collaboration Obama boasted about in the Saddleback debate? "In fact," reports the Annenberg Political Fact Check, "the two worked together for barely a week, after which McCain accused Obama of 'partisan posturing'" -- and launched a volcanic missive charging him with double cross.

So where are the colleagues? The buddies? The political or spiritual soul mates? His most important spiritual adviser and mentor was Jeremiah Wright. But he's out. Then there's William Ayers, with whom he served on a board. He's out. Where are the others?

The oddity of this convention is that its central figure is the ultimate self-made man, a dazzling mysterious Gatsby. The palpable apprehension is that the anointed is a stranger -- a deeply engaging, elegant, brilliant stranger with whom the Democrats had a torrid affair. Having slowly woken up, they see the ring and wonder who exactly they married last night.

Odd...and eerie.
Excellent column, as always.

As we've watched the Democratic Convention throughout this week, my husband and I have both commented to each other about how odd it is that there are so few people accompanying the Obama's. I believe we have only seen Michelle's mother, her brother and an aunt or uncle. WHERE are the rest? Was there NO ONE who could come forward to share this man's most important night?

He seems like the man from everywhere...and no where.

Nowhere Man
the world is at your command.

The crowd's reaction
to Obama's acceptance in Denver was chilling in its overt emotionalism. 80,000 people plus cheering without a foreseeable end showed the star power Obama exudes, but it doesn't seem to address the realities facing today's world. A huge pep rally seems terribly inconsistent with selecting a world leader

The post-mortem with Brit
Acolyte, apprentice, tradesman, ...
More tradesmen an effort than "journeyman" I found.

Mr. Krauthammer stated in review that he thought it was directed to Reagan Democrats. Assuming that’s correct, those Reagan Democrats that Sen. Obama must draw in, are those that are legatee working class Democrats, as the original Democrats that voted for Reagan are largely out of the demographic now.

Working class, blue collar, tradesman and line workers that rejected Carter and then Mondale are now in their late 50's and 60's and not likely to be swayed by the Junior Senator from Illinois.

Their children and grandchildren that have found and/or lost skilled 'anvil and apron' jobs are perhaps potential for the hope round-up but that remains the great unknown tonight.

In any case, the passion of a speech is not unlike an Americans soldier’s glee in the Paris of August 1944, kisses and caresses abound but the mornings transport awaits and the enemy is before you still.

A big set for a muted clarion call.

I couldn't say it better
than the posters before me.

History has seen a nation lulled by a 'leader' promising relief in sugary words before. It has always ended disastrously for the nation.

A dangerous man
Actually I believe he is a Muslim hiding in Church of Christ clothes.

What better way to take control of a country than to be President of it with all the power therein.

Too many superlatives!
The Dems don't do marriage, except for 'gays'. They'll sleep with anybody -- Bill Clinton, Gore, Kerry -- so long as they keep the condom on & promise to appoint 'pro-choice' judges.

Obama, at arms length
This man has to be mysterious because the facts scare the he!! out of everybody. It is embecilic to think Americans as a whole will ignor 20 years of white hate from Wright, several years of America hate from Ayers and close ties to Chicago hood, Rezco. I don't care what pretty eloquent picture he paints or dim talking points he mouths his judgement has been seen and is wanting.

Up next
Tomorrow's vp annpouncement
A week for the Republican ConventionThree presidential debatesElection

Now there are some Dems in town hall that have jumpon me because I said that Obama didn't hardly look into the camera and when he didhe had an intense look and was yellingNow to be fair I was trying to be object as much as one can be

And I thought that Obama simply missed an opportunity... this is the largest televized audience he has ever had, the largest speech he has ever given
If he would have speant more time looking into the camera and talk to the audience that far out weigh the fans before him and if he would have displayed somee kind of human emotion ike leatoin because he is the first Black nominee for president, or some humor throughout the speech... he would have connected with Americans on that deeper human level where a person can say to himself this is our new leader... now his speech was great

but inline with Kraut's piece it will be a lot harder for him dealing with Ayers relationship which he still hasn't answered for

Nuremburg in Denver
I was a strange scene in Denver.
The extravagant stage, the larger than life display of pomp and power and the oversized set built to showcase a single person in a heroic pose. It looked like Nuremberg in Denver.

That would be bad enough but the throng of fans acted like the loyalists of that evil man from Austria. That man was a great speaker who could motivate voters too.

The teleprompter didn't fail and Obama delivered a solid speech.

But there was little meaning in it, nothing but platitudes and empty words. It contained no solutions, just slogans and grand promises

The pageantry of tonight's Nuremberg-like rally matches his vacuous rhetoric. Solemnity and sagacity come from the quiet words of wisdom exchanged at Independence Hall, the makeshift stage at a cemetery in Gettysburg or the serenity of the Oval Office.

The immodesty and narcissistic nature of the real message emanating from Invesco Field may be missed by those wagging their tongues on TV tonight, but it hopefully it won't be lost on the heartland viewers.
http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2008/08/28/invesco-tu rned-nuremberg-style-rally/

obama
Obama is a creature of the far left, and the MSM. A man of superficial charm, a product of affirmative action, and like the Wizard of Oz, a fiction of form, and a person of no substance. I will not comment on his sense of entitlement and his evident narcissism. I blame him not so much as the people who selected him. He is the personification of the skewed results of affirmative action as per Dr. Thomas Sowell. Lest I be taken as a racist, I would in a heartbeat prefer over McCain, Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, Clarence Thomas, Ward Connerly, Michael Steele,Michelle Malkin, Bobby Jindal.

Wow, wes
You may be right, and Rev. Wright loves whites, and Ayers loves republican government and Rezco gives loans to everybody no matter what they can do for him! Wow, this koolaid is so good. Michelle and Barack the average joe family. Man turned down those good jobs and now go to the White House. Only in America.

OBTW McCain will eat him up and spit him out in the debates. Oblaba will uh-uh mm uh his way about his pay grade for an agonizingly embarrassing amount of time.

"Wes" notwithstanding...
I also sense among Democrats a growing

BUYER'S REMORSE FOR THEIR MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE.

Wes the wonder boy
calls everybody dumb because we don't fall the feel good family story and then he calls us hillbillies. That banjo music you're hearing is the strings on those banjo ears of your super star playing taps on his campaign. Wes, lad, when the white folks get behind that curtain like the good reverend is fond of saying, "The CHICKENS....have come home to roost!"

And another thing you condescending twit
I would love to see Condi as the Republican candidate and then you racist card playing clowns would show your true colors.

We--es, Moveons calling
they got some more talking points for your dim witted brain to copy and paste.

such as
Hyde park? isn't that where Dr. jeckyl and Mr. Hyde came from. Why was Barry using an alias in school?

Condoleesa Rice?
You mean the lady who read the daily PDB from August 6th that said:
"Bin Laden determined to strike in America"? Then did nothing about it even though her title was NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR!!!!

Bring it on. I'd LOVE to watch that debate.

Yeah, Merle
And then there's the mysterious birth certificate. Everyone knows its been altered and that's why it won't be shown. His mother's whereabouts on his birth should be investigated.

Merle,
It's time to raid the 'fridge for some munchies dude.

Let the grown-ups talk.

HEY "WES" !
If you promise to hold on reeeeeeeaaaaallll tight to your tin-foil cap, I'll spin the propeller reeeeeeeaaaaallll fast so you can escape the evil planet and get home to mommy's basement safely.

DEAL?

indyconantidim
You'd fall for the feel good family story if:

You'd ever met Obama and his family.

Real. Family.

Why does that scare you guys so much?

Are you sure your not gen clark?
You couldn't spell out Oblaba's plan if he spotted you the p and the n. Because its the same one the dims have been pushing since Carter. Give us more money and we will waste it faster than you can say," Oblaba the loser."

OBTW where is this bookie you're making all these political bets withs, I gotta get a piece of this action. What with "Pope of the planet" Pelosi and "Losing a war responsibly" Oblaba this is a sure thing.

Wes, being an independent
I'm going to cut you some slack and give you the basics. All that talking point crap you dished out is exactly what's wrong with your party. They've been politicizing since the Clintons lost the Congress to Newt in 94. Its the demonizing method no matter the consequences to the country. They took off about 7 days after 9/11 to show some kind of solidarity then Jesse was in the streets to protest going into Afghanistan. And then after that was a success Hi-liar-y and Joe and Kerry decided we better get on this wagon until Dr Demento and Moveon and Fatman Moore showed hey we can re-create Vietnam and the Smuckie Schumer says hey I can recreate Watergate with some BS charge to get the WH and overlooked the State Dept who actually leaked it.

Bottom line is you guys have no credibility. The media is in the tank more and more every day and your pulling a con on the people. I agree with Ferraro if he wasn't black he would have never sniffed the dim candidacy. Forget the feel good story. You guys have not credited Bush with anything and that's where you made your mistake. And if you keep making this about Bush I see landslide.

id'd
We'll get him when he goes to the dmv next time.
Will the real Nobama please stand up?

Isn't it amazing
this leftist con could be perpetrated on the American people? The media should be ashamed of themselves.

To little Wes in his mother's basement
Wes,

Although you obviously have sparse educational exposure (which is the equal to a boatload of Chicago's best due to the likes of Obama and his predecessors) and were most certainly abused in school, do not confuse the talking points provided by ACORN - I mean the Obama campaign - for truth. I know they promise that your dedication will get you laid, but look at Bill Maher. Even with his celebrity, no woman has yet given herself to him of her own volition without monetary compensation. Basically, he is with you in the basement, and I'm sure you applaud profusely when you watch his show.

Your boy is neck deep in the sh__. I don't begrudge someone who has father issues and is looking for affirmation, but I'm more comfortable when they're female and strippers

http://globallabor.blogspot.com/2008/08/behind-annenberg-ga te-inside-chicago.html

I know you got your text message last night, and you dutifully called WGN to admonish Stanley Kurtz for bringing the truth to light - callling him a smear merchant worthy of hanging, etc..

Your boy is a fraud. Worse, a player in the corrupt system who misspent, along with Bill Ayers, $100 million of mostly honest money on phony programs to advance his political career.

Do your research. Get a life. Brush your teeth and perhaps some woman will take pity on you.

Charles - you nailed it!
It was sort of mesmerizing to listen to Obama's speech of soaring rhetoric, especially to hear about all that his mother, grandfather, and grandmother did for him. And all that America has done for him and for Michelle. It was great to hear all of the promises that Obama was offering. But there was something missing. For a man who has had over 27 years of adulthood behind him, time as a state legislator and two years as a US Senator, what has he accomplished for the country? His speech was completely void of any accomplishments that OBAMA made for the nation or for Illinois.
There are a lot of gifted orators, narrators, actors, artists, preachers, who can get up and give wonderful moving speeches, but if they are applying for the job to be President, they should show where they have accomplished something for the nation or their state. (Not that they were a "hanger on" but that they led the way for progress and improvement. This is missing when it comes to Obama.
If elected, he may well deliver "change." Instead of our current growth as a positive 3% plus, and low unemployment, he may likely give us a real recession (not the type that Democrats are wishing for Republicans) and high unemployment, plus a nation vulnerable to more terrorist attacks. No thanks! I'll stick with McCain who has proven accomplishments.

We're running out of Kool Ade
Wes epitomizes the Kool Ade drinkers. Scary!

Here we have Obama, the Focal Point of Nothingness with the Audacity of Hype. (No, that's not a typo) and the likes of Wes are salivating and drooling while they recite the talking points from MoveOn and Kos. For those of you who don't know, those are the Dem's stink tanks.

I have yet to hear one person give a substantive reason for voting for Obama. None. Zero. Just like Obama's speeches about change, there is nothing of substance there.

Let's resurrect the "where's the beef?"

Inherent deficiency in Obama's character
It is called the Wright-Ayers-Farrakhan-Davis Syndrome.
If you make friends of degenerates and subversives and use them to build a career and resume out of thin air, then what are we to think of you?

Say What Y'all Will...,
Krauthammer especially, and then every post here, on every side....

Given all that is against him and all that is for him....

All that is known about him and all that is unknown about him...,

....how in the h*ll did this guy get a major political party's nomination to be President of the United States of America?

...is what I'd like to know.

Do we have the definition of the word "is," yet?

Michael
"....how in the h*ll did this guy get a major political party's nomination to be President of the United States of America?"

The implications of that are frightening.

ApolloSpeaks
Perhaps. But today there seem to be a lot more people that you can fool than back then.

THEATRICS
The 'black and white' masks which symbolize theater, have never been so well represented than by the democratic candidate.
His frowning 'black' mask, speaks of the evil of our Nation, then his smiling 'white' mask speaks of his so called love of our nation.
The theatrical performance of the democratic campaign, might be entertaining as a tragic comedy, were it not for the true life 'drama' of b.H.obamas 'split' personality.
b.H.obamas only likeness to MLK is the color of his skin. Martin Luther King was a Patriotic Conservative.
b.H.obams only likeness to JFK is in age only. President Kennedys immortal words "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country" is directly opposite of b.H.obamas promises of 'what I (the government) will do for you'.
b.H.obama disdains our symbol of our American Flag and disrespects the tradition of hand over heart in 'Pledging Allegiance' to Her. Should this charlatan be elected by the gullible audience of our Nation, we shall all pay a devastating price for his presidential performances, for his government (not ours) will 'rescript' our Constitution.

The Dems Require an Obama
The Democrat Party had to put forth someone with a reed thin resume'. To be accomplished in the Democrat Party is to have taken positions at odds with the priciples of the Founders and to have supported policies destructive of freedom.

They have presented us with someone that is attractive and talks well but won't say exactly how he proposes to perform the promised miracles. He can show nothing in his past that would indicate an ability to accomplish anything other than looking good and speaking well. Given what the Dems want to do he is perfect, an empty vessel that voters can pour their hopes into.

Not surprising... "Eerily missing at the
Democratic convention this year were people of stature who were seriously involved at some point in Obama's life...."

He's thrown them all under the bus!

Why? Because he doesn't want us to know who he has chosen to be his mentors and be friends with.

The fact that he doesn't want us to know should be one HUGE RED FLAG, and it's NOT a pun that it's a RED FLAG!

"Anne" but WE DO KNOW...
...just "who" these people are...

...and now it is The Obamboozler himself who wishes he could have nothing to do with them!

(Hence the "Ayers Offensive" currently going on...)

Dis Man Da Bomb! (partly pun)

Charles
"...Barack Obama is an immensely talented man whose talents have been largely devoted to crafting, and chronicling, his own life. Not things. Not ideas. Not institutions. But himself..."

Here is your problem, Obama has dedicated his life to others in the streets and in government. He represents America, if you doubt me, come look at the face of the military or sit in the great hall at Walter Reed.

I more qualified than he
I did not watch Obama speak, because airy persiflage puts me to sleep; in fact, as soon as I saw John Lewis (former *representative* of my district in Georgia who accused me of racism when I called him on using the Holocaust in a frivolous manner to describe some Black Goodie that he wanted) I turned the channel.

But in listening to and reading about it, I have come to realize that at the same age as Obama, my personal qualifications for President were way better than his.

Some of us jeered at 19 year old Jensen Button (former F1 meteorite) for writing his autobiography; how long could it be, ten pages? But if you made Obama write about what he has DONE, instead about his personal *journey*, he could not muster 10 pages even today.

Happy Birthday, John McCain.

AudiR10
"...But in listening to and reading about it, I have come to realize that at the same age as Obama, my personal qualifications for President were way better than his...."

What did you do because Obama went to Harvard, became a constitual scholar, edited a prestigious review, worked the streets of Chicago to aid society and winning elections at various levels of state and federal government. Put your resume up....

Oh, Hal...
It is not OUR problem that "Obama has dedicated his life to others in the streets...", which is untrue, but so be it. He USED those "in the streets" as those "in government" to further his power and personal wealth.

He most certainly DOES NOT "represent" America, but rather only the shallow, morally bereft aspect of human nature.

Now, having said that, I fully expect The Obamboozler's supporters to soin that and say, "See?! He represents ALL OF HUMANITY!!!"

uh huh.

Hal Donahue, go
IRON YOUR CHEERLEADER DRESS.

It's getting pretty wrinkled for all the jumping up and down you're doing for Barry.

Ed Wallis
"Date: Aug 29, 2008 - 7:11 AM EST Subject: Oh, Hal...

LMAO how silly with his credentials he could have sat in a prestige law firm and counted the cash. No he is one of those things conservative people fear a leader and an honest man

"He most certainly DOES NOT "represent" America, but rather only the shallow, morally bereft aspect of human nature. "

wrong as to my point take a look at the pictures of our war dead he represents the new face of America and a return to real American values

Ed Wallis: Yup! We know now who these

Marxists and Communists are.

BUT, he clearly didn't WANT us to know... which is why, no doubt, that he referred to Frank Marshall Davis as just "Frank" in his book.

Marxist Obama reminds me of those high speed car chases we see now and then in CA. Boggles the mind because we KNOW how it ALWAYS ENDS!

They get caught!

Same thing here... how is it that Marxist Obama even entertained the notion that we wouldn't find out about all his "friends" and "mentors."

Of course, with his attitude and arrgoance, he'll try to put a stop to all this.... See Malkin's column.

Obama - The Pied Piper of America
Excellent article Charles. Your clear headed thinking, as always, is very much appreciated by this reader and voter.

Keep up the good work!

Obama is a Carter!
Obama at best is another Carter! NO leadership experience, knowledge, and skills! A total lack of understanding of what this country is, as established by our Constitution, Bill of Rights, and history, including the sacrifices of so many people to keep and maintain this country.

Let us hope, if elected, he will not be worse than Carter!

TO WES AND OTHERS -- ENOUGH!!!
I, like Barack, do not "fit the template" of someone living in the Chicago metropolitan area. I am an African American but I have not had a drink from the Kool-ade pitcher of "Change". Barack is a decent guy, but the audio does not match the video. Is he aware of this or unaware? Or is this whole thing being orchestrated by the man (Howard Dean) behind the curtain? The audio does not match the video. Last night, Barack said that if you work hard, you can achieve your dreams. Then why is there so much government intervention in his policies? He spoke of his mother and grandmother and how they "worked their way up". I did not hear him mention any government programs when he spoke of his family. Not once did he blame the financial conditions and hardships of his upbringing on the government. So why is the laundry list of todays family problems he so eloquently spoke of now all a sudden "failures of the policies of George W, Bush"? This is crucial stuff here. Please think about it. The audio does not match the video. Space does not permit me to go on. Posts are best if kept short. Even one of his best lines has something amiss. "Change comes to Washington, not from it." He said that we have been talking about cutting our dependence on foreign oil for about 30 years now and McCain was there for most of that time. Excuse me, Barack, but so was your running mate.

Superbowl HalfTime Show
At least Jackson showed her breast, Obama showed nothing. Nice fireworks however.

DEAR MR. KRAUTHAMMER
Please Sir, write an article documenting all the crises, President Bush and his Administration has had to deal with over the last 8 years. No matter whether one agrees with the way these crises were handled, has any other President ever had to deal with the sheer number (individually counted) of crises or problems that President Bush has had to face?
I am so weary of hearing and reading how 'Bad Off' we are as a Nation due to the failure of our President and that, he alone, is to blame for 'where' and 'what' we are as a Nation today.
'Where' we are--we're still here, not having been reattacked in 7 years. 'What' we are--we're still 'FREE'. President Bush has made mistakes, and has disappointed many of us, but we as a 'People' should be thanking and giving him the credit he deserves for the fact that we are 'still here and still free'. As our 'Leader' of our UNITED STATES (50--not 57), he deserves our gratitude, not our disdain.

The Nailer
Mr. Krauthammer, do you wear a toolbelt when you write? You should, because then your nails would be close at hand. Again, you nailed it. It seems to be of great benefit to all these would-be lovers (voters) of Mr. Obama's, that he is mostly mystery. Nothing to clutter up the infatuation.
As I watched last night, I said, "God, I hope he can do it." Because it seems to me a slam dunk he's going to win, and he is so untested, I just pray for the sake of our nation that he can handle the challenges that the office will bring in his one term.

Double Speak
He spoke about working hard - but if you earn too much money he and his money police will come take away your win-fall profits (has ANYONE listed the criteria for "win-fall", what exactly that number is? I wish they would so I keep just $1 under that number)

He spoke about his grandmother - typical white person that she is

Let's face it, anyone voting for Obama is looking for the consequence free lifestyle where the working Americans foot the bill so people don't have to take ownership of their personal choices and be responsible and accountable

People are where there are in life: money, jobs, relationships, etc. BECAUSE OF THEIR OWN PERSONAL CHOICES WHICH LEAD TO THE SITUATION THEY NOW LIVE IN

You gotta be awfully lazy and work hard to be unproductive in this great nation

DEMOCRATS ARE THE PARTY OF THE DISADVANTAGED
(apparently we are all born disadvantaged - who knew?)

LIBERALS ARE ANYTHING BUT LIBERAL

Mysterious Stranger from the East
Mysterious Arab Stranger with a "false' Hawaiian Birth Record who came to the Traitor Party by way of Kenya, Indonesia or North Korea

There was not even a 'Video feed" from his 'White" Grandmother to say "Well Done Grandson. We are proud of you.

I did not see an interview with his Sister.

There was another Mysterious stranger, a paper hanger who came
to the Nazi Party by way of Austria.

Hitler, too, did not have people that knew him surrounding him prior to becoming Chancellor of Germany extolling all the good that he did. Have you ever remember seeing pictures of him with Family? Hitler had only "Self Praise"

The Bible talks about a Mysterious Stanger coming from the East as the anti-Christ.

This fits right into the Democrat 2008 Platform for even those praising, and recommending Hussein Che Obama for President do not know him or where he came from.

The Germans and the Jews in particular did not find out who Hitler was or where he came from before it was too late

M
I wouldn't go as far as calling him the anti-christ (he hasn't shown a capacity for understanding "riddles") but the process that is now firmly established for bringing him to prominence does give me pause.

OrpheusMay
Well said. Thank you for your comments.

Obama is not the antichrist
But his rise to power is a prototype, just as Hitler was. He just doesn't meet the criteria laid out in the Bible, just like Hitler didn't.
I've never seen B. Hussein Obama in person......I wonder if he's just a hologram after all! It's scary that George Soros and terrorists (look where his money comes from) have gotten this far in deciding who an American president is going to be! We live in an age where socialist/communists feel free to openly proclaim themselves and have power.....we let this happen. Our own apathy is to blame. While I worry about terrorism, I fear the possibility of us imploding on ourselves is much more likely. I'm not a "conspiracy" nut....yet. I have heard of HAARP and some of the "extreme conspiracies" connected with it and other things. I always laughed at that kind of talk....but something is going on. I mean, I am not ever always happy with my party and I *itch and complain and vote them out when they don't perform...but Demoncrats (or as Ed Wallis says Dementocrats)have a blank, glassy eyed, empty stare when talking about Pbama - no matter what the facts are they seem physically and mentally unable to connect anything. It is the stepford Socialist!

What Record?
Obama has NO
1. Military record
2. Birth Certificate record that we have seen.
3. He has no selective service record that we have seen(even illegal aliens have to register for the selective service).
4. He has no college record that we have seen.
5. He has no work record or references.
6. He has no senate record(no bills passed)
7. He has no executive record.
8. He has no church record of service, just attendance.
9. He has no record of solid American friends.

Dukakis Disagreed
Michael Dukakis soundly defeated Hannity in their "debate." Barack, he argued, was better prepared for the Presidency BECAUSE he's got experience at the LOCAL and STATE levels. Obama has 11 years elected office experience, more than Hillary, more than W had.

It just remains to be seen if Barack is a new Lincoln or not. Like Lincoln, Barack woke up one morning and said to himself: I can help out here. We'll see what happens.

People predicted that Clinton would put the ecomomy into the ditch. They are now saying the same thing about Obama.

This issue is probably, truly, a moot one--due to Ohio. Rural Ohio and other such places.

wes, dude
"Krauthammer. What's your problem? Have you been drinking the coolaide so long that you can't even imagine that a person like Obama just *MIGHT* be exactly what he seems?

Father of two loyal husband of 15 years. Grew up without any privilege and went to college because his mom and grandparents worked HARD to get him there with the help of loans and scholarships. Same with Michelle. Instead of chasing the money they decide to do something GOOD and help others. What's wrong with that?"

Dude, um, those are like totally awesome qualifications for president. The dude is married AND went to college?? Whoa, like, what more could we want in a leader?? I'm stoked, dude! Now pass me that joint, bro. It's gotta be some killer dope.

Jack
If you believe ANY of that...then lay off the Jack - you've clearly had too much!

Jack
must be smoking the same stuff as wes

A recruiter for attorneys
wrote the best critique I read from the standpoint of looking at Obama's resume. He noted the fine degrees but noted also he has left no legacy of writings or opinions as president of the Law Review at Harvard, as a community organizer or as an attorney. He noted also that Obama seems not to have stayed very long at anything. And Obama wants to be president!!!

LZ STUD's bad list
That list is very off-base if you're interested in an election based on fact rather than fiction.

1. Military service is neither a requirement for service nor necessarily a good thing to prepare a president. I'd say McCain's service has left him resentful and belligerent.
2. The birth certificate has been certified, if you don't care to accept the reality of that, that's YOUR problem, not Obama's.
3. Selective service? Really, that's important to you? Let's see what happens.
4. College record--you can infer from his getting into Harvard without mentioning his blackness that his grades were exceptional.
5. Work record and references are widely available from everyone he worked with in organizing in Chicago and in the State Legislature and in his time in the Senate--including republican senators.
6. Senator Obama has sponsored or co-sponsored 570 bills in the 109th and 110th Congress, sponsored or co-sponsored 15 bills that have become LAW since he joined the Senate in 2005,
introduced amendments to 50 bills, of which 16 were adopted by the Senate.
8. Church record of service? Are presidents required to have this? Does McCain?
9. Solid American Friends--first of all, what does that even mean? Second of all, we saw dozens of them this week at the convention. McCain's buddies don't make a pretty picture sometimes.

Kraut
I guess Kraut would've opposed Lincoln too. Lincoln had less experience than Obama. Being president is not about having the right experience or the most accomplishments. It's about integrity and it's about setting the tone for the country. And it looks like most Americans prefer the intelligent and optimistic tone that Obama sets, to the bitter, angry, dumbed down tone McCain sets.

Nevertheless, we all know who Obama is. He's been on the national stage for four years now. He's the kind of guy who, after graduating number one from Harvard Law, chose to forgo the wealth that could've come had he taken a job on Wall St., to help people on the southside of Chicago have a voice in their government. And that's the man that Kraut wants to say is only in this for himself? A Republican has a lot of nerve saying that.

In any event, here's a testimonial from a man who knows Barack Obama

"[H]e does really attempt to understand the points of view of other people who look at the world or a particular issue differently than he does. He's much more intellectual, much more thoughtful, much more interested in discussion, debate, and dialogue than the typical politician. And that gives me some confidence about him, even though from my perspective he's much too liberal. I've never voted for a Democrat in my entire life. He's the first one I might vote for," - Daniel Fischel, Univ. of Chicago law professor and former colleague of Barack Obama.

The number of people on the right who show such disdain for Obama are only displaying their own ignorance. It's so obvious that you live in a cocoon of right wing propaganda.

Here's to hoping that you can resolve the massive contradiction between the reality of Obama, and what the spinmonkeys like Krauthammer, Limbaugh, Hannity, Prager, Medved, Ingraham, Hewitt et. al. tell you. And if you could do so before the election, the country would be grateful.

Phylo out.

Whew, my heart
My heart rages at the thought that Obama can run for President and has not even PROVEN he is an American citizen. How in the world can that even happen? Seriously, think about it. The whole mess is just, well - scarey!!

Obama Birth Certificate
LZStud,

Obama's birth certificate can be found at this URL: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/.shared/image.html?/photos /uncategorized/2008/06/13/bobirthcertificate.jpg

Unlike much of Obama's past, his birth is not a secret.

Anastasia
Congratulations. You're a perfect right wing tool. The oil companies and military contractors in this country salute you.

The Shallow man
Once again, Barack Hussien Obama orates to the throngs of fawning Liberal cult followers, this time with a Cheesy Hollywood backdrop worthy of a low budget Mel Brooks comedy. Once again the obama decried that the United States is a rotten F'ed up Country. The only thing F'ed up is the Liberal Mind set. Once again Obama and only Obama is going to fix everything that is wrong with our Country? I'm not buying it and anyone with a clear mind who is listening to this load of crap is not buying it. This 46 year old child is playing not only the Race card, he's playing the Apathy card as well. The Messiah is leading these deluded fools right down the garden path, and will then lead them right over that cliff. Libs wake up, Put your Country fist for once. Your Candidate is seriously Flawed, you know it deep down, dont follow this Fool over that cliff. Salvage whatever self respect you still have before you toss it away by voting for this Shallow half wit. This is not the time to be Gambling on a Shallow man/child like the obama...

The Clinton's were forced by the DNC
to make those lovely speeches their heart wasn't in their speech. Also to try to get Hillary's debt paid.

The look on Michelle's face when Hillary was talking about her accomplishments wasn't hard to see Michelle is one angry woman and doesn't like the Clinton's (more like hate).

One Word
Alinsky

reply to M
Obama's sister Maya gave a fantastic speech on August 25 right on the convention floor--no mystery there.

And the rest of your post is the stuff of novels, not political discourse. The fact that ANYONE could pose any kind of realistic analogy between the lifelong loser Hitler was who rose to power on a platform of nationalistic ferocity, and Obama who went into politics despite having success of many kinds available to him, and who is not looking to restore America to its imperialistic aspirations (that was Bush/Cheney)--is simply.....well, mysterious. I don't know how such a mind as yours works. Why do you think this way? Seriously, tell me about your thought processes.

Hey Jude
Your defense of Barak is commendable, but I think many of your points, including your number six point, are a bit inaccurate. If he had done all that you claim, he wouldn't have had time to run for office.

My personal opinion is that Obama spends so much time preaching to the world and pretending to be president that he doesn't have time to get any real work done. He's like a pied piper. And all of the children follow him.

What the American people need to see from Obama is some real substance, and I don't think we will ever get that because there just isn't any substance there. He's an empty suit.

We're talking about electing a world leader, and frankly, I just don't see that in Obama.

I'd like to be wrong on this matter, but so far, I haven't seen anything to show me the error in my observations.

Stand for Something
As I always teach my daughter - Stand for something or you'll fall for anything. I wish Hillary or Bill would have put their true feelings ahead of their party and declared that Obama just does not have the experience to be POTUS. Or if Hillary would have believed in herself and her message so much that she ran as an independent. She may not have won but she very well may have. But we'll never know. She should have learned to stand for something instead of just falling in line for anything.

The man with no substance
Obama’s speech was what I suspected that it would be…empty rhetoric. It was like watching a hand of Hold’m Poker and the guy with the empty hand ends up with exactly that…an empty hand. The only difference here is that we’re talking about the possible (shudder) next president of the United States.

Obama has gotten a free ride because of the powerful people who support him so that he can be their puppet, (George Soros), his origin, and his ability to charm needy people as if he were a magician. In my mind, he gained power because of charisma not substance. If you remember or have read enough about WWII, Hitler gained his place in history in the same manner. The Germans were discontented and seemingly unable to solve their own problems with life, so Adolf did it for them, taking with him millions of people and ultimately causing the downfall of his own country.

It is scary to think about what will happen if Obama succeeds in winning the presidency because of mesmerized liberals who really want a “God” to rule. It’s like watching a bunch of people sucked under by quick sand when they thought it was a flying carpet. As for my family, we are stocking up because we expect the worse. Between Obama, Iran, Afghanistan and Russia, you don’t need binoculars to envision where we are headed.

There'sMore&More is Less!
Not only did no grownups witness to the accomplishment(s) of Obama, Obama himself told Rick Warren, when asked about the people he would first turn to for advice - advice for the leader of the FREE WORLD, note! - that his wife and grandmother would be trusted advisors! Who are they? People who have more of a record of accomplishment and experience in foreign affairs than President Obama? Probably, sure, why not!

Wes, Hal, et al
Many of us here on TH are at a complete loss as to how anyone could even consider voting for Mr. Obama, given his complete lack of qualifications or experience. If, however, one looks at the facts of life re (average) Democrats - it is pretty easy to see how one would vote for him.

Of the major voting blocks, Democrats:

1) are the least educated (ref Hollywood types)
2) are more likely to have spent time in prison/jail
3) are more likely to have used drugs
4) are more likely to have children that they do not support
5) are more likely to have had an abortion
6) are more likely to be unemployed or unemployable due to their lifestyle
7) are more likely to be receiving state/fed aid
8) are more likely to be willing union members
(as opposed to those forced into joining)
9) are the least informed about actual FACTS, and are prone to INVENT statistics, etc.

I could go on and on about the honest and factual shortcomings of the average Democrat voter. I realize this will get refuted - but all you have to do is check it out on your own.

Truth is truth!

Walt
Interesting comments. If your observations are accurate, the majority of Democrats should not be allowed to vote in national elections.

These people would just not be mature enough, impartial enough, and judgemental enough to make a seasoned decision regarding our elected officials.

And that makes me think maybe we should consider changing our national voting elegibility requirements, including the minimum age requirements.

Thirty-five would be about right for minimum voting age (IMHO). That would give most potential voters enough time to get their act together mentally.

Giving the dems too much credit
Krauthammer is right about Obama, of course, but he gives the democrats way too much credit if he believes they’ve noticed Obama’s flimsy resume, or that they even care.

Hal Donahue
Hal wrote: "Here is your problem, Obama has dedicated his life to others in the streets and in government. He represents America, if you doubt me, come look at the face of the military or sit in the great hall at Walter Reed."

I think that you are incorrect. Did you watch his visit with the troops? One soldier refused to shake his hand. After that Obama canceled his visit to the wounded veterans because of what? He went to the gym of course to maintain his correctly liberal state of health.

Obama is the most egotistical person that I have had the displeasure to watch in action. Obama takes care of Obama. Three book and all about Obama...makes you wonder. I think that disingenuous is a good adjective for that insipid Roman Emperor.

Wes
You wrote about Obama,

"Father of two loyal husband of 15 years. Grew up without any privilege and went to college because his mom and grandparents worked HARD to get him there with the help of loans and scholarships. Same with Michelle. Instead of chasing the money they decide to do something GOOD and help others. What's wrong with that?"

That would be fine if Obama was running for Grand Poobah of the Moose Lodge. What does his grand parents or mother have to do with being President. Heck, Richard Nixon grew up in a dirt farm in Whittier California with a mother who died of TB. He put himself through Whittier and Duke Law by scraping by. And look how he turned out. With Obama, his bio is everything. And no, he didn't give up big bucks as an organizer. His ties to the Chicago Daly Machine got him a tony mansion in Hyde Park (through the convicted felon Rezko), and his wife got a $300,000 job a the U of C Medical Center through his buisness contacts. Thier net worth in 2007 was over $3.5 million.

One also begins to wonder about his Harvard years. Despite being editor of the Law Review, he failed to author one article or essay, and no one can find anything he wrote as law professor at the Univ of Chicago Law. His time as a "community organizer" showed no improvement in the Southside. Ditto as state senator. His 3.5 years as a US Senator were mainly spent campagining for President. All we know about him and his wife is thier bios, their wealth, and thier self absorbtion.

Hal Donahue
And by the way, Hal...he didn't provide a stellar performance at that law firm. He took care 30 minor cases in the 10 years that he was their. He did manage to write, however, the first of the 3 books about himself.

Obama might as well be a street peddler who when asked what he has accomplished, opens his coat for all to see. Except that, having accomplished nothing of any worth, the coat is empty.

Try this again with correct spelling

Exactly
I have been a social worker--like a community organizer--for more than a decade. I could produce, thankfully, a list of foster children and foster parents who I think would speak about me very positively (the difference I've made in the child's life, etc.).

What I'm stunned at, frankly, is the complete dearth of people stepping forward to say the same thing about him. I mean, Community Organizer is intensely inter-personal; yet, this guy has no one to step up and vouch for him and his work.

I think I know what this means. I suspect he was a clock-punching community organizer who no one particularly liked, respected, or related to, who formed no real attachments or relationships. This is consistent with what has been unsaid with his Harvard Law Review "buddies", his "friends" in Hawaii, his congressional colleagues in Ill., and his colleagues in the U.S. Senate. No one seems to know this guy. It's amazing. Probably this means there's nothing to know, no core or center.

Barak, the political ink blot
for liberals to simultaneously project their their racial guilt and moral superiority. Their contact with reality is minimal.

He chose not to join a law firm....
I might suggest one reason Obama chose not to go after the big bucks in a big law firm:
being a lawyer, at least a GOOD lawyer, is HARD work. Harder than law school (though it does pay better). And it requires concentration and thought. AND the law firm will actually require performance.

For a guy with the gift of bullsh*t (which would also help in law SCHOOL), far better to be a politician. Talk is all you need; intentions count, results don't matter, performance doesn't matter. You CAN fool some of the people all of the time.

Break out the Chamagne
It's Sarah Palin for VP!!!!!!!

Obama
He never mentioned his "Minister" once in his speech last night. The man could not get a security clearance based on his known associations with "bomb throwers".

obama
the fellow is a communist. he must carefully craft his public utterances, as walking this tightrope requires speaking only in generalities.

Maybe Democrats know Obama too well.
The Democrats can't find anything good to say about Obama, eh? Perhaps they just don't know him very well.

Or could it be that they know him too well?

Judy: Champagne
Good idea - I will! I just listened to her and I almost feel sorry for the Democrats. I spoke to my Feminazi sister - who was in tears since she has dicided to vote Republican for the first time ever. I guess the Democrats didn't figure that the "Femi" part of their Nazi would come first!!! I am HOWLING with laughter! EXCELLENT choice - I LOVED her speech.

HighlanderJuan
My Number Six is 100% true. Those stats are the result of surveying the Congressional Record for the two Congresses of which Obama was a part. It is on the record for all to "see." So, your claim: "What the American people need to see from Obama is some real substance, and I don't think we will ever get that because there just isn't any substance there. He's an empty suit." means that you just are not LOOKING very hard. Facts can be seen, and if you are here on the net you obviously can check the congressional record. Stop parroting the "empty suit" talking point, and pretending to sound "bipartisan" like the McCain website told the bloggers to be this week, and CHECK THE FACTS.

If someone calls him an empty suit with a record like that WHILE running for president, and compares it with McCain's record for the same period (hasn't even VOTED more than once since APRIL), it is clear that legislative ability is not an issue that favors McCain in this election.

Sarah and the glass ceiling
Sarah Palin just jumped onto the glass ceiling with big old stilletto boots. We will have to see the impact what the elephant hides will bring come November but I think this intelligent, no-compromise, grass-roots politician really is the "not a politician as usual" type. I am proud to support her and think many will come aboard.
Christie

Obama, Biden & Fate
It was foreordained that the Dems choice of Obama would lead down an electoral cul-de-sac because he's not only inexperienced, he's tainted by the likes of Wright, Ayers, et al.

The left simply made a strategic error in becoming infaturated before they actually fell in love, which led to betrothal, and now he's their guy.

And, yes, Palin is a masterful choice...hard-hitting, took on oil interests in Alaska and the Republican establishment, bullet proof, and she'll capture some of the Hillary voters.

Let the games begin.

Judith,
Excuse my earlier post - my best friends name is Judy! I meant to write Judith!

Re: I Don't Think So?!!!
Look, it is like I have said before, Mr. Obama wants us to think that he is an all-american guy!! This is not so, Mr. Kruathammer has it almost right, he did really hit this one right, Mr. Obama is a basket case and he is only doing what Obama senior was trying to do in Kenya! Mr. Obama is hiding the fact that he really is an anger black radical that has a secret agenda! Mr. Obama is no more fit to run this country than I am, Ann Coulter has it right as well, this man is a black nazi!

Hussien ears Obama
He sure is for the poor.Just ask his brother in Africa.

CHECKMATE! Well Hello Sarah Palin
I just saw Sarah Palin's acceptance speech. Wow!

Barry Dunham can be a mysterious stranger or self made man or both! Who cares? John McCain's V.P. choice just blew Barry out of the water.

The choice is more clear than ever before. On one side, Honor, Duty, Country. On the other, self love, (both B.O. and J.B.), plagarism(both B.O. and J.B.),political expediency(advocate partial birth abortions, both B.O. and J.B.)and absolutely no moral compass(both B.O. and J.B.).

Strangely, strangely
We always hear about this person or that person being 'vetted' for the job of Vice President.

Yet the person that is running for President is not vetted, even though he will be the one with all the clearances known to man PLUS THE INHERENT RIGHT TO SUBVERT AND COMPROMISE THE CLASSIFIED MATERIAL COVERED BY THOSE CLEARANCES!

While I normally don't have any problems with that procedure, and have never known of any problems occurring because of it (after 40 years in intelligence).

But Sen. Obama having that access (and yes, his wife also) does scare the hell out of me.

Excellent Article
Mr. Krauthammer and you make some very good points as well LC.

Mysterious Stranger?
I recall a Mysterious Stranger as a character in a story by Mark Twain. This Mysterious Stranger was a real angel, but you wouldn't want him in charge.

Of anything.

Thanks R.E.
And thanks too for reminding me to say...,Way to go Mr. Krauthammer! you nailed it!

Phylo
Isn't phylo a dough? Your postings have the intellect of dough.

The Communists Seem To Very Much Favor O
I'm not certain, but I do believe Obama is the first U.S. presidential candidate to receive such positive reinforcement in the press release from the American Communist Party a few weeks ago. Does this tell us something about the likely direction he would take this nation in if elected? I believe he wants us to become another Cuba; and, he would like to be another Fidel Castro. APN

BRYAN, STEVENSON AND OBAMA
Perhaps the most charismatic and electrifying speaker in the history of Democratic presidential politics was William Jennings Bryan. So great, elevating and spellbinding was this man's eloquence that the Democrats nominated him not once, not twice, but a record three times to run for President. The last time that this Illinois born orator ran was one hundred years ago in 1908. After 12 years of two Republican administrations Bryan went up against the older, dull, uninspiring William Howard Taft. Byran was 48 years old when he wowed Democrats with his stirring acceptance speech, giving it from the mile high Arena Auditorium in downtown Denver. Bryan would go on to lose in a landslide his golden tongue just couldn't catch on.

44 years later the Democrats nominated another powerhouse orator, this time to retain the White House: Illinois governor Adlai Stevenson who went down in defeat on November 4th losing to Dwight Eisenhower. This would be the first of two defeats for Stevenson against the older dull uninspiring Ike, his eloquence and superior intellect just couldn't catch on.

Obama's rousing acceptance speech that we heard last night at Denver's Invesco Stadium just isn't enough to get him to victory on November 4th. If it were Bryan that was running or Stevenson Democrats would have a better chance at winning; for unlike those two men Obama, as the Illinois born Hillary Clinton said, "has nothing but speeches."

Mystery Senator, Harvard Law Rvw. Pres.
Spin about the sparseness of their notariety aside, (both newcomers to this national stage) Barak Obama and Sarah Palin are "refreshing" breaths of air to politics as usual. I, for one, have found some hope of change in both of them. Neither are a mystery to the many lives they have touched over 2 extensively well rounded careers. The people that they have served, I'm sure know them well. The politicians we are all used to watching - thank God - are changing. Hallelujah!

obama
AS I ALWAYS SAY,DO NOT TRUST OBAMA FOR A SECOND.HE IS NOT A BLACK AMERICAN LOVING WHITES,THE SAME AS HIS BEAUTIFUL ? WIFE.THEY ARE NOT AT HEART WITH THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND THERE PROBLEMS.HE WILL GIVE AMERICA AWAY FOR HIS BLACK FRIENDS AND COUNTRIES.AMERICA WAKE UP AND VOTE THE MAN WHO CAN PROTECT YOUR FUTURE.Mc CAIN.

Who is he?
We who have studied the hard (ant-American ) left knew at once that this was from that sect. One does not arrive at this from listening to their words, which are only deceitful distractions, but by noting the beliefs of their friends. "Birds of a feather flock together." Across the whole left of various types Marxists, Black nationalists, American comunists etc universally all share the hate America sentiment, especially U.S. economic and justice systems. The profit motive is considered especially evil. A good way to bring down the system starts with winning the presidency.

DNC's Most Wanted
The DNC convention in Denver looked like America's Most Wanted. I would not be surprised to see some of these faces on John Walsh's program.

You had Don Siegleman, former governor of Alabama, fresh out of Federal Prison on Bond For Taking Bribes and Racketeering charges while governor of Alabama. Wonder how many strings his Liberal Democrat Buddies in Congress and the Justice Department pulled to get him a bond set from the 11th Circuit Court Of Appeals, while he awaits a new trial. He gave a speech at the convention, and I am sure was seated as A Super Delegate.

Then, you had that Scoundrel, Mayor Negan, of New Orleans who is under investigation, and soon to be indicted for Fraud, Theft, and Corruption in ripping off millions of dollars of FEMA money intended to rebuild devastated neighborhoods in his beloved "Chocolate City." (Negan's term, not mine, so don't none of you Libs out there jump the gun and try playing the tired old Race Card on me.)

Then, you had the Mayor of Detroit, who is out of jail on bond for Assault. I am sure the list is larger than this, but my 2000 characters is coming close to an end. And, how about Marion Crackhead Barry, mayor of Our Nations Capital City. What a Party. And the DNC had Denver Suspend Drug Laws During the Convention. They knew that Most of their Party Out there were a bunch of Druggies. Would not want their Super Delegates to be arrested on Drug Charges, now would we??

And, I left out Obama's Mentor, Bill Ayers, convicted Domestic Terrorist, whose specialty was blowing up federal and other buildings that represented "the White Man's Establishments."

Maybe, Obama, had him stay home in Chicago, where he now teaches Marxist Economics at a Chicago, Illinois University. Wouldn't want old Bill to get antsy and blow anything up, now would we??

Reply to Edith in Ca
Who would Obama surround himself with at the convention? Even if he had any friends that he could bring in public, he wouldn't, because He Is A Narcissist, and would not share the Spotlight With Anybody that would Detract From His Own Presence and Image. This is the true Narcissist at work. Obama's picture could be used in a Picture Dictionary to Define Narcissist.

But, never fear, Obama has no people in his background that would even be acceptable to that bunch of Libs in the DNC. Obama has already thrown all his old allies under the bus, or so it seems. Of course, should he accidentally win the presidency, he would quickly ressurrect his past acquaintances.

Who are these past Acquaintances that so Influenced Young Radical Obama, right out of Harvard Law?, Oh, yeah, Bill Ayers, who was also part of the Weather Underground, a Domestic Terrorist Group that used Bombings of Federal Buildings and murder as part of their Plan to take down the White Man's Establishment.

And, who else could he not bring to the party in Denver? Oh yeah, Old Jeremiah Wright, the Black Racist Preacher Who Taught Obama and his Hate-Filled Wife, Michelle Christianity in the Hate Whitey Style for over 20 years in Chicago. Another inconvenient ally for Obama.

And, how about that White Catholic Priest Flager, who got up in The Good Rev. Wright's Church, and mimicked a black Hate-Filled Preacher like Wright, and slandered and made racist remarks against Hillary Clinton.

And, how about Obama's Old Loan Sharking Mortgage Industry buddies?

And, how about Obama's Planned No-Parenthood (planned abortions) buddies, who had Obama be their official Spokesman in the Illinois Senate to make sure abortion butchers mistakes that left a full term abortion that survived did not receive medical care or even comfort and nourishment.

No, Obama could not bring his buddies and allies to the party in Denver. Somebody may have frowned on his associations and mentors.

Think Detroit
A co-worker of mine, an immigrant from Southeast Asia, who lived in Michigan for many years prior to moving to Arizona said it best. If Obama wins the election, the whole country will look like Detroit.

Karl
You mean "The Red Death" by Edgar Allan Poe?

LZStud's bad list
This is for Jude:
Your #3 confuses me - Selective Service "Really, that's important to you?" Are you a male between 18 and 25 and a citizen of the US? Then you should know it is important and if you haven't registered, you're breaking the law.
The more I hear from Dems, the more scared I get!

DNC Potemkin Village
The DNC Convention was phony - phony props to look like the White House, phony carpet to resemble the Oval Office, phony accolades for a man who has been given loads of opportunities, yet who has ZERO accomplishments for all that he has been given.

Obama talks about his "Kansas roots" - well he never lived a day of his life in Kansas and his mom moved from Kansas when she was a kid. He was a community organizer, a member of the State legislature, and the US Senate but has ZERO accomplishments that he can list. What a dud!

Palin is MORE qualified than Obama to be president. Palin's speech listed her accomplishments, something Obama could not do, because he has not done anything. He is a lightweight and is lazy when it comes to doing the work. He can only talk fluff, shake hands, and smile for the media. He has no results to show for anything.

Now we have a VP candidate who is REAL, who is willing to roll up her sleeves and get the job done. How refreshing is that!

Obama security clearance
Obama can't get a security clearance based on his known associations with "bomb throwers".

Bumper Sticker
Can anyone tell me where I can get a bumper sticker that reads: "ARE YOU BETTER OFF NOW THAN YOU WERE 2 YEARS AGO?"

The New American COMMUNIST
All night and all week we heard stories of sadness, sorrow, and woe unto thee. Based on this defeatist emotional plea of the "unfortunate 2%" we we must scrap the past 100 years and abandon the American system as we know it.

Thank Muhammad for Barack. Now the bad Bush Racist Government will be blessed by Obama to create Utopia for all Proletariat.

Never mind that silly out dated U.S. Constitution because we all have a right to free government provided: health care, jobs, housing, food and all as needs require.

Is it not right that the industrious wealthiest adopt the burden of the slovenly downtrodden and provide for their very subsistence?

To Phylo and Alice
Your emotions blind you. There is a word for the system Obama embraces, Communism.

And to Alcie above, YES I am much better off now than in 2000. I am happier, wealthier, newer homes, great loving wife...etc. And I did not need OBAMA for anything!!!!!

Obama is a Marxist
ACORN is where Obama got his early Marxist and Fraudulent Experience. Bill Ayers, the Terrorist, was involved in that early training of Obama in Marxist and Criminal activities. Remember the Marxist Doctrine says, "By Whatever Means Necessary to Get the Desired Results of Power and to Topple The Existing Government or Other Authority." Fraud, Deceit and Criminal Activity is not only acceptable, but are the key tools used by Marxists. You have to instill fear and hatred of the establishment.

Look at the entire Obama campaign so far. They and the MSM are trying to Stir Up Hate and Loathing for Our President and other leaders.

Obama learned his Methods from Terrorist Bill Ayers, rev. Wright, and others. Now, he has the Mainstream Media, promoting this same hatred and encouraging fear and hate.

ACORN is and has always been about promoting Marxism, and uses the tactics of Fraud, Deceit and Criminal Activities. Their aim was to get
their Candidates into Seats of Power. They, the Marxists and ACORN, got Obama, their Puppet elected to the Illinois State Senate, and then on to Washington as a U.S. Senator, and now they are Trying to Sell Him as President with the Same Old Marxist Tactics.

Well, These Marxists did not realize that Their Ignorant speeches and Tactics will Not Work On People Who Know Better.

We are sending Obama and His Marxist Mentors and Backers a message on Nov. 4. Go Home Obama. Chicagos Criminal Government needs you. We, the people of America, do not.

to Edith in CA
The main reason the DNC selected Obama is that he is light skinned Black raised by whites in middle class white academic world.

A marketing campaign which parallels the extremely talented "Tiger Woods"

But Obama is a product of modern Socialism. He got to where he is today on Someone else's dime. I wonder who paid to send Obama to undergraduate schools and law school - and would he even be accepted to Harvard if he were 100% white? What do you think?

Do you really believe Obama that Government should provide everything for its citizens?

Why? Isn't it your responsibility to make your own life?

to Jude, NY RE: Bad List
Jude,
I think your a nice well meaning person. Though like all Liberals you base your arguments on emotions and assumptions instead of Facts.

Is man made global warming (MMGW) a fact or theory?

Let us look at people's actions instead of their prepared script. Al Gore was VP for 8 years, but had no effect on MMGW during his tenure as the 2nd most powerful man in the world. MMGW was not really that big a deal until he could profit once out of office. Al Gore still creates a massive carbon footprint daily that is much larger than the average person, yet Gore is the foremost supporter of stopping MMGW. Do you have any problem with that Fact?

Obama claims he's for the disadvantaged, and was involved in that effort in Chicago. Unlike a real Saint, Mother Theresa of India, Obama has not shunned a life of opulence. There is no history of hundreds helped or saved. In fact South Side is as bad as ever, and Obama moved on for greater personal career advancement.

I think that one should achieve marked success on each rung before ascending to the next. That is what I look for when I hire or promote. All I have seen from Obama are hollow affirmative action cajoled proclamations and no direct evidence of an actual success, except school. So maybe he should be a teacher.

Who has he really helped besides himself?

Thanks and good luck. Depend on your self not Govt.

Michael You're Wrong!
You obviously do not know Chicago nor the South Side. It starts at about 12th Street, and stretches to the south city limits, and even extends into the south suburbs of Chicago, up to and beyond 210th Street. You state that "the south side of Chicago is as bad as ever." The south side of Chicago boasts the largest array of black working class, middle and upper middle class homeowning neighborhoods in this nation! Yes, there are pockets of lower income families, but even they are being revitalized by African Americans. To promote the idea that anywhere black people live is bad, is a self-serving monsterous act of cultural slander. Obama lives in Kenwood, which is mostly black, and is definitely top of the upscale. Jesse Jackson lives in the Jackson Highlands(not named after him) which is all black, and is an exquisite black neighborhood of professionals. Pill Hill is also noted for it's sprawling modern 1960's homes. There are countless modest middle class neighborhoods like Avalon, Burnside, etc., etc.,. Even Beverly, which is an Irish Catholic solidly upper middle class area with beautiful old homes, has a large number of black homeowners. The South side of Chicago is not "as bad as ever." - it's not bad at all!

Affirmative Action & Whites
Whites Have Benefited More From AA
Whenever whites approach the issue of Affirmative Action they seem to all come down with collective amnesia. They only refer to AA as a negative with regard to black people, and consciously choose to dismiss the fact that white women hijacked AA, used it to gain almost parity with white men, and now pretend that they never benefited from it in the first place.
White men, almost always exclude white women from their discussions when voicing their opinions about AA. It seems, in their minds, that AA is only bad for black people. When the truth is, white men have benefited from AA, even more than African Americans. They have benefited because they are married to, mothered by, and relatives of white women who have riden the AA corporate and political gravy train to economic success. Do white men really want their working white wives to stop benefiting from a measure that was intially designed to rectify centuries of government mandated discrimination against African Americans and native Americans? I think not. So they pretend white women are not germaine to the issue -- and by extension, their own enrichment from AA does not exist.

stranger in white house
This article brings up many solid points about a potential stranger in the White House. Much food for thought!

Disgusted
Thank you Mr. Krauthammer for another excellent column.

Being from the state of Illinois, and seeing how Obama hasn't done anything here, I'm particularly disgusted by his rise to fame. He's been part of the problem here in Illinois. He's perfectly comfortable with all the corruption here, yet he's going to clean up Washington. Sure, that's going to happen.

I hope the undecided voters can see through the smoke and mirrors so this stranger doesn't become President.

Need a moat remover?
The bulk of the posts suggest a lack of confidence in the Republican candidate, since you spend so much time denigrating the opposition. I am an independent, (often considered swing-voter)but having gone through the article and posts, you have given me nothing to convince me to vote for McCain, in fact, given the bitterness of the venom spewed here, I will probably be looking at the other guys, because my feeling is that if you have to spend so much time knocking the other guy, it's probably because you truly have nothing good to say about your own. I guess it's awfully difficult to see with the "moat" in your own eye.

To J From Texas who wrote . . .
" . . . but having gone through the article and posts, you have given me nothing to convince me to vote for McCain, in fact, given the bitterness of the venom spewed here . . ." I, too, consider myself a 'swing voter' or 'fence-sitter'. But, I am confused by your comments. To be perfectly fair, aren't negative things being thrown from both camps? Please, please point out what you consider to be the " . . . bitterness and venom spewed. . . " from Mr. Krauthammer's article? What is not correct about what he wrote? Did he actually state some sort of falsehood? I really would appreciate the clarification as I am trying to keep my eyes and mind open to BOTH sides at this point. I feel Mr. K's writing was very thought-provoking- not simply provoking. It seems to this reader that you made your political decision long before reading the article. Unfortunately, your negative response to the logically written article causes concern in itself.

Birth Certificate Question?
perhaps the birth credentials of BHOblaba could be validated by the same people who "validated" the credentials of the Chinese (obviously-underaged) gymnasts... i'm sure that they can come up with something all the Dims will fall for...

THANKS CHARLES YOU NAILED IT!
OBAMA LIKES ICE CREAM,THE MEDIA DOES ITS BEST TO MAKE US LIKE THIS GUY.OSAMA-OBAMA,BIN-LADEN-BIN-BIDEN=THE TWILIGHT-ZONE.MCCAIN-PALIN WILL WIN-WE PRAY!GOD BLESS AMERICA AGAIN,AMEN!

Some Serious Questions
1. Who pays Community Organizers? I mean, who do they report to? Do they work for the Chicago City Government?
2. Is the President of the Harvard Law Review elected or appointed? If appointed, by who?
3. Did Obama attend Harvard for his undergraduate studies? What years did he attend college?
4. Any records of where Obama stood in his college graduating classes? This has been a critical issue for the MSM in past elections.
5. Has Obama been baptized? As a Christian he should have participated in some type of baptismal rites in order to accept Christ? What are these rituals at the Chicago church he attendeed?
6. As a Constitutional Lawyer he must have a well documented record of cases where he represented either defendents or plaintiffs. Can somebody reference the briefs from these important cases? Has Obama had court experience in front of a judge or jury in these Constitutional cases?
7. He evidently taught Constitutional Law. where did he teach? Can anybody point out comments from any of his students related to his teaching experiences?

It is, indeed, a mystery why so much of this candidate's personal history appears to be shrouded in mystery.

McCain has it all and Obama has not

The problem with the above post by J is anyone who has paid attention to politics (like I am sure most posters here) knows McCain. We know he was a POW who was kept alive by the dream of America. We know he could have made Admiral in the U.S. Navy had he not gone into public office. We know he reaches across party lines and has been responsible for REAL change (some of which was a mistake) and we know McCain has real accomplishments. McCain has a record and proof he gets things done (some of which we do not like ... but then no one is perfect). The question is who is Obama and what has he done to bring people together or battle for real policy changes even against his own party? Not much!
