Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

For a brief moment it seemed that US President Barack Obama was moved by the recent events in Iran. On Friday, he issued his harshest statement yet on the mullocracy's barbaric clampdown against its brave citizens who dared to demand freedom in the aftermath of June 12's stolen presidential elections.

Speaking of the protesters Obama said, "Their bravery in the face of brutality is a testament to their enduring pursuit of justice. The violence perpetrated against them is outrageous. In spite of the government's efforts to keep the world from bearing witness to that violence, we see it and we condemn it."

While some noted the oddity of Obama's attribution of the protesters' struggle to the "pursuit of justice," rather than the pursuit of freedom - which is what they are actually fighting for - most Iran watchers in Washington and beyond were satisfied with his statement.

Alas, it was a false alarm. On Sunday Obama dispatched his surrogates - presidential adviser David Axelrod and UN Ambassador Susan Rice - to the morning talk shows to make clear that he has not allowed mere events to influence his policies.

After paying lip service to the Iranian dissidents, Rice and Axelrod quickly cut to the chase. The Obama administration does not care about the Iranian people or their struggle with the theocratic totalitarians who repress them. Whether Iran is an Islamic revolutionary state dedicated to the overthrow of the world order or a liberal democracy dedicated to strengthening it, is none of the administration's business.

Obama's emissaries wouldn't even admit that after stealing the election and killing hundreds of its own citizens, the regime is illegitimate. As Rice put it, "Legitimacy obviously is in the eyes of the people. And obviously the government's legitimacy has been called into question by the protests in the streets. But that's not the critical issue in terms of our dealings with Iran."

No, whether an America-hating regime is legitimate or not is completely insignificant to the White House. All the Obama administration wants to do is go back to its plan to appease the mullahs into reaching an agreement about their nuclear aspirations. And for some yet-to-be-explained reason, Obama and his associates believe they can make this regime -- which as recently as Friday called for the mass murder of its own citizens, and as recently as Saturday blamed the US for the Iranian people's decision to rise up against the mullahs -- reach such an agreement.

IN STAKING out a seemingly hard-nosed, unsentimental position on Iran, Obama and his advisers would have us believe that unlike their predecessors, they are foreign policy "realists." Unlike Jimmy Carter, who supported the America-hating mullahs against the America-supporting shah 30 years ago in the name of his moralistic post-Vietnam War aversion to American exceptionalism, Obama supports the America-hating mullahs against the America-supporting freedom protesters because all he cares about are "real" American interests.

So too, unlike George W. Bush, who openly supported Iran's pro-American democratic dissidents against the mullahs due to his belief that the advance of freedom in Iran and throughout the world promoted US national interests, Obama supports the anti-American mullahs who butcher these dissidents in the streets and abduct and imprison them by the thousands due to his "hard-nosed" belief that doing so will pave the way for a meeting of the minds with their oppressors.

Yet Obama's policy is anything but realistic. By refusing to support the dissidents, he is not demonstrating that he is a realist. He is showing that he is immune to reality. He is so committed to appeasing the likes of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Ali Khamenei that he is incapable of responding to actual events, or even of taking them into account for anything other than fleeting media appearances meant to neutralize his critics.

Rice and Axelrod demonstrated the administration's determination to eschew reality when they proclaimed that Ahmadinejad's "reelection" is immaterial. As they see it, appeasement isn't dead since it is Khamenei - whom they deferentially refer to as "the supreme leader" - who sets Iran's foreign policy.

While Khamenei is inarguably the decision maker on foreign policy, his behavior since June 12 has shown that he is no moderate. Indeed, as his post-election Friday "sermon" 10 days ago demonstrated, he is a paranoid, delusional America-bashing tyrant. In that speech he called Americans "morons" and accused them of being the worst human-rights violators in the world, in part because of the Clinton administration's raid on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas in 1993.

Perhaps what is most significant about Obama's decision to side with anti-American tyrants against pro-American democrats in Iran is that it is utterly consistent with his policies throughout the world. From Latin America to Asia to the Middle East and beyond, after six months of the Obama administration it is clear that in its pursuit of good ties with America's adversaries at the expense of America's allies, it will not allow actual events to influence its "hard-nosed" judgments.

TAKE THE ADMINISTRATION'S response to the Honduran military coup on Sunday. While the term "military coup" has a lousy ring to it, the Honduran military ejected president Manuel Zelaya from office after he ignored a Supreme Court ruling backed by the Honduran Congress which barred him from holding a referendum this week that would have empowered him to endanger democracy.

Taking a page out of his mentor Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez's playbook, Zelaya acted in contempt of his country's democratic institutions to move forward with his plan to empower himself to serve another term in office. To push forward with his illegal goal, Zelaya fired the army's chief of staff. And so, in an apparent bid to prevent Honduras from going the way of Daniel Ortega's Nicaragua and becoming yet another anti-American Venezuelan satellite, the military - backed by Congress and the Supreme Court - ejected Zelaya from office.

And how did Obama respond? By seemingly siding with Zelaya against the democratic forces in Honduras who are fighting him. Obama said in a written statement: "I am deeply concerned by reports coming out of Honduras regarding the detention and expulsion of president Mel Zelaya."

His apparent decision to side with an anti-American would-be dictator is unfortunately par for the course. As South and Central America come increasingly under the control of far-left America-hating dictators, as in Iran, Obama and his team have abandoned democratic dissidents in the hope of currying favor with anti-American thugs. As Mary Anastasia O'Grady has documented in The Wall Street Journal, Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have refused to say a word about democracy promotion in Latin America.

Rather than speak of liberties and freedoms, Clinton and Obama have waxed poetic about social justice and diminishing the gaps between rich and poor. In a recent interview with the El Salvadoran media, Clinton said, "Some might say President Obama is left-of-center. And of course that means we are going to work well with countries that share our commitment to improving and enhancing the human potential."

But not, apparently, enhancing human freedoms.

FROM IRAN to Venezuela to Cuba, from Myanmar to North Korea to China, from Sudan to Afghanistan to Iraq to Russia to Syria to Saudi Arabia, the Obama administration has systematically taken human rights and democracy promotion off America's agenda. In their place, it has advocated "improving America's image," multilateralism and a moral relativism that either sees no distinction between dictators and their victims or deems the distinctions immaterial to the advancement of US interests.

While Obama's supporters champion his "realist" policies as a welcome departure from the "cowboy diplomacy" of the Bush years, the fact of the matter is that in country after country, Obama's supposedly pragmatic and nonideological policy has either already failed - as it has in North Korea - or is in the process of failing. The only place where Obama may soon be able to point to a success is in his policy of coercing Israel to adopt his anti-Semitic demand to bar Jews from building homes in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria. According to media reports, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has authorized Defense Minister Ehud Barak to offer to freeze all settlement construction for three months during his visit to Washington this week.

Of course, in the event that Obama has achieved his immediate goal of forcing Netanyahu to his knees, its accomplishment will hinder rather than advance his wider goal of achieving peace between Israel and its neighbors. Watching Obama strong-arm the US's closest ally in the region, the Palestinians and the neighboring Arab states have become convinced that there is no reason to make peace with the Jews. After all, Obama is demonstrating that he will deliver Israel without their having to so much as wink in the direction of peaceful coexistence.

So if Obama's foreign policy has already failed or is in the process of failing throughout the world, why is he refusing to reassess it? Why, with blood running through the streets of Iran, is he still interested in appeasing the mullahs? Why, with Venezuela threatening to invade Honduras for Zelaya, is he siding with Zelaya against Honduran democrats? Why, with the Palestinians refusing to accept the Jewish people's right to self-determination, is he seeking to expel some 500,000 Jews from their homes in the interest of appeasing the Palestinians? Why, with North Korea threatening to attack the US with ballistic missiles, is he refusing to order the USS John McCain to interdict the suspected North Korean missile ship it has been trailing for the past two weeks? Why, when the Sudanese government continues to sponsor the murder of Darfuris, is the administration claiming that the genocide in Darfur has ended?

The only reasonable answer to all of these questions is that far from being nonideological, Obama's foreign policy is the most ideologically driven since Carter's tenure in office. If when Obama came into office there was a question about whether he was a foreign policy pragmatist or an ideologue, his behavior in his first six months in office has dispelled all doubt. Obama is moved by a radical, anti-American ideology that motivates him to dismiss the importance of democracy and side with anti-American dictators against US allies.

For his efforts, although he is causing the US to fail to secure its aims as he himself has defined them in arena after arena, he is successfully securing the support of the most radical, extreme leftist factions in American politics.

Like Carter before him, Obama may succeed for a time in evading public scrutiny for his foreign-policy failures because the public will be too concerned with his domestic failures to notice them. But in the end, his slavish devotion to his radical ideological agenda will ensure that his failures reach a critical mass.

And then they will sink him.

Freedom is inconsistent
with "social justice."

That is Obama's worldview in a nutshell, and it is all you need to know. Any liberty can be compromised, any freedom taken away, any law disregarded - including the Constitution - if it means that Obama can redistribute wealth as he sees fit. Not only within our country, but from our country to others.

Foreign policy - like our own Constitution - is useful only to the extent that he can use it to justify confiscation and redistribution. He cares about nothing else, and will systematically dismantle this nation and sell it off for parts.

God Bless
The Hondoran Military, for standing on the side of their nation's constitution.

I pray it doesn't come to that here.

Barack Hussein Obama
This is a nightmare and we will awaken soon. A Marxist/Socialist did not gain the White House in November. He and his minions are not doing everything in their power to destroy our country.

They are bringing about class and race warfare. They want to take from the prosperous and give to the nonprogressives. But it is not real. It is only a dream. A bad dream. A nightmare.

Destroying the US
"this will sink him" - I hope to hell it happens soon. Can this country survive with him ruling like a czar?

Well, duh...
Of course Obama is going to support illegitimate governments and dictators who take over by unconstitutional means. What do we expect from a man who grew up in Indonesisa and can't even prove he was born in the US, thinks nothing of appointing ineligible Senators and tax cheats to his cabinet, takes ownership of General Motors, and wants to tax our energy and health industries into oblivion? Does he feel a wee bit insecure perhaps?

Out lawed by a banana REP
I’m so proud of Honduras, a country who has openly stood up to the rise of socialism staying true to the rule of law within their own borders.

The United States of America is no longer united, what I grew up learning and believing only stands half true anymore.

I believed better dead than red, (and still do) now green is the new red and we the people are being force fed propaganda every day, many of the people I know seem to be nothing but mushrooms (kept in the dark and fed sh! t) I mention the currant assault on liberty and all I get back is Oh what’s that mean?

We may be lost due to this Govmunism of unearned greatness, but I will die staying true to the Constitution and the belief that the individual will always be more important than the collective.

Oblaba, the useful idiot
I think one of the other conservative sites had a headline a few weeks ago talking about a Kenyan village missing their idiot and then proposed that Oblaba really wasn't an idiot because of his steamrolling agenda.

However I disagree. Unlike the libs with Bush who could never get their stories straight whether Bush was an evil conniver or dunce and made themselves look like morons, I have nailed Oblaba time and again.

He's an empty suit, teleprompter reading pseudo-leader given his scripts on a daily basis. Iran, Venezuela, N Korea are all illegitimate, rogues with nothing to offer the free world and need to be scorned and isolated. And if they threaten us in anyway given a proper military response.

That won't happen until Jan 2013. Lord help us make it there.

Not quite
“Obama supports the America-hating mullahs against the America-supporting freedom protesters because all he cares about are "real" American interests.”

No, what Obama cares about is seeing Islam grow in power and watching Sharia law imposed on the whole world.

Obama is a closet Muslim who wants to see Islam control the whole planet. He is not about to side with any group who might undermine the authority and power of the mullahs.

Obama will side with Islam every time and on every issue. Watch and see if you don't believe it.

Obama Is a Garden-Variety American...
...Proud Progressive in the same Saul Alinsky-loving Hillary Clinton tradition. You don't have to be a Muslim to love sharia law, despise freedom and hate America.

You just have to have graduated from an American university.

The early Progressives who traveled to the new USSR in the 20's and were enamored of Stalin finally won their battle on the college campuses of the 1960's.

The Leftists sided with Che Guevara, the Castros, Mao and Allende. If you assume, as did the Founders, that our freedoms are God-given, then it's not hard to figure out that those who would separate us from those God-given freedoms are inspired by some force so-not-God.

Ms Glick
Does every editorial in TH have to be stridently anti-Obama irregardless of the facts? Couldn't you switch it up every now and then.

While I am against virtually every part of Obama's domestic agenda, I think his foreign policy approach is dead-on.

Bush's 8 years of bombast and beligerance produced a giant goose egg in Iran. He talked tough alright, but did not make one inch of progress.

Obama obviously has an end game in mind. I am happy to see the diplomatic effort. It probably won't work, but we will have most of the world's support as a result if we need to use a military assault.

Bush never had the guts, but my money says Obama will attack if Iran doesn't comply.

It doesn't require a crystal ball
to see why Obama has so quickly come out in favor of Zelaya.

Honduras is showing they knew that what Zelaya was trying to do was wrong. Hondurans had to act quickly to preserve their democracy. Free and open elections are promised in November with UN officials monitoring them. To me this sounds a lot more democratic than Zelaya's aims of re-writing the Honduran constitution and dissolving the congress. Zelaya's referendum to allow him to serve beyond the constitutional term is exactly what Obama may try to do here sooner than later. In fact, he is already doing it. Birds of feather flock together AND feather their own nest. So as far is Zelaya goes-- with Obama's way of thinking-- What's not to love?

Hondurans taking matters into their own hands to prevent a dictatorship is a scary scenario for Obama and his policies in my opinion. A man who frequently lies and has hidden most of his personal papers and records cannot be trusted. In light of his many moves to take over systems that should not be under government control, I guess that he thinks he can do whatever he wants.

Obamao's tunnel vision is becoming more alarming every day.

The facts, if you cared to explore them
would indicate that criticism of bHo is called for, even necessary, in both domestic and foreign policy. In a nutshell, his whole thing is appeasement of our adversaries and enemies.

Isn't it ironic that Mahmood gave Obama a blistering dope-slap? NOW what will Barry do? Continue to obsess about "negotiating" with them? It makes me cringe whenever he says "negotiate." What does he possibly hope to acheive? What will he give up in order to get what he wants? Will he use an agreement as leverage against Israel? Why? After all this ineptitude in handling this situation, how can this greenhorn nobody expect to produce any results in negotiating with these whack despots? As if he knows what to do that will advance American interests. He'll just squander our interests abroad as he has here.

Now that's funny.
......"but my money says Obama will attack if Iran doesn't comply."

Obama's Vision
Obama idealizes these despots (Castro, Chavez, Zelala, Ortega, Mao, Stalin, Lenin and Islamic dictators because that is his vision of "hope and change" for America.

The screws are turning and preparations are being made to inslave the American people and military putdowns of descent and re-education camps will be common. By supporting the despots idealogy Obama is preparing America for what is comming here.

Obama is EVIL and must be defeated if America is to survive.

Treason
Traitor, sedition, seditionist. NUFF SAID.

Unintelignt man ruining our country
Left wing is formatting a revolution. Either you stop him as elected officials, or I predict he will crawl out of Washington, and we won;t have to look at his silly Naive face, as well as his nut case wife,

weird
The Iranian people say they are upset that the candidate they voted for was cheated in the election. Obama's statement acknowledges this, Glick has them fighting for the Shah who they despised.

In Honduras, Glick has the people who can't win elections as the forces for democracy. This is a complicated situation and one in which that usually trite distinction between a democracy and a republic actually makes a difference. Again Obama is probably right to put the Americans behind a legal process rather than a coup. Bush's quick support of coups against democratically elected leaders in Venezuela and Haiti hurt the US during the Bush years (and were probably responsible for allies like Chile and Mexico refusing to support us on Iraq).

In Israel, Obama has only called for the Israelis to keep their agreements and not to build more housing on disputed territory. Given the harm to peace done by settlements on territory that would clearly go to the Palestinians on any peace deal, that is a pretty modest request, although admittedly more than we have asked of Israel in the past.

In general Obama is not doing what Glick would like to do on a wide range of issues. And that is usually a minimum requirement for doing the right thing.

Robert #10
The word "irregardless" means in effect, the opposite of regardless, or "in view of." Therefore, I agree with your comment that the editorials in TH are stridently anti-Obmama..."in view of" the facts. Now please, if you want to at least SOUND intelligent, don't use that stupid non-word "irregardless" again.

Il Duce
Sides with the would be dictator in Honduras because he fears a coup in this country against his commie agenda.

What that guy was trying to do is exactly what we see this clown attempting right here at home.

He has no reverence for the Constitution or American values, he is all about substituting his own vision rather than preserving and defending that of the founding fathers.

He is more aligned with people like chavez and che gueverra than Jefferson, Washington or Madison.

He is destroying this country one day at a time and like the frog we haven't felt the water coming to a boil yet, but it will and those fools who voted for this clown will rue the day they ever heard his name.

So Lon
I'm embarrased that you live in the same state as I do....

Irrelevent
This entire Obomba administration is proving itself irrelevent. They talk a good game and when it blows up in their faces, they wax poetic and sound thoughtful and run the other way! They don't pay attention to what their own citizens say or want. They are forcing their agenda down our throats. They talk at other countries (not "to" but "at"). Other countries are ignoring what Obomba says because what he says can only exist in a parallel universe not in this real world. He is a complete zero. When the "axis of evil" countries act the way they always do (evil), it is opposite of his ideology and therefore, he doesn't know how to respond (neither does the teleprompter). The Obomba administration HAS no policies. They have only rhetoric. When that doesn't work they can't reshape it like you can if you have real policies to work with! Having an agenda and having an actual policy is completely different. In fact, I don't know what in h*&^ they are doing in Wash DC other than playing with the system thinking they can "fix" things. It's like a computer programmer who plays with your system...the system ends up worse and not working, then crashes.

Robert: Yes, BO Has a Hopeful End Game
..."in mind." However, the biggest weakness in the Progressive mindset is it's all in their heads. Progressivism denies and defies human nature and the real world.

That's why their plans won't work domestically or internationally. Appeasement and sucking up to dictators sounds like a good idea, but defies reality and common sense.

As Churchill (Winston not Ward) is to have said: "Weakness is provocative."

BTW: No amount of charm is going to get our "allies" to join us in any endeavor which requires THEIR blood and treasure.

Eveylyn: You May Be Exactly Right...
...re: your analysis of BO---except for one point. He won the election. He's exactly what the people want: Santa Claus, promising the sun, the moon and the stars with other people's money.

Sadly, by voting for BO, the people have spoken. They prefer sucking on the public tah-tah rather than pledging their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to secure the blessings of liberty for themselves and their posterity.

The only solution? To somehow convince the voters, especially young voters, that BHO means bondage and involuntary servitude rather than a handout.

Evelyn, would that they were irrelevant!
Unfortunately, the One is all too relevant unless we can impeach or depose him as unqualified to be POTUS.

Carolyn, you article was correct on what he is doing, but woefully inadequate in your conclusion. The koolaid drinkers haven't yet woken up and probably won't. They have too much invested in him to accept that they were wrong and he is intent on the destruction of the USA.

African Colonel in the White House?
Best column on Town Hall!

Rush got a call from an American in Honduras who said that their parliament and supreme court removed President Zelaya because he was violating their constitution while illegally trying to extend his term as president.

This fits in with a Nigerian woman's evaluation of Obama as very similar to the colonels in Africa who established dictatorships after Britain and other European countries withdrew. She says, in effect, that Obama is following in the footsteps of his late Kenyan father who wanted to install Communism in Kenya by overtaxing the wealthy--up to 100%.

The link to her article can found on the Rush Limbaugh website.

Barack is defining himself as a leader who believes in total power in order to redistribute wealth. He is an admirer of Chavez, Castro and now, Zelaya of Honduras.

Will we have to have a coup here in the USA?

Stay tuned.

Who will rule the earth??????
I am surprised that no one seems to see that Obama is a suberb actor.. Everything he says, everything he does , every facial expression, all acting to the crowd or the moment..
Occasionally when he does not get his way demonic rage overcomes the calm acting demeanor ..But he quicky regains composure because he knows what his mission is..and doens't want to upset it..
He revealed his mission in Cairo and other countries when he declared USA not a Christian country but the largest muslim country on earth..He declared himself a muslim when he admitted his father and grandfater were muslims.. This qualifies Obama also as a muslim under Islamic law..He declared discrimination as a muslim woman not being allowed to wear a burka, not as a woman being stoned to death.
I would say Obama is one of the most evil deceitful man ever to be on earth. He ranks first among Mohammaed and Hitler.. All three are/were would be world dictators who envisioned themselves as messiahs. These three are/were following in their spiritual fathers foot steps..
Did not satan say to Jesus " Bow down and worship me as the God (of Abraham) and I will give you the world (jihad)..
Obama/ACORN are gearing up for a world presidency election coming soon...

Eveylyn: You May Be Exactly Right...

TOO BAD
our younger voters were too preoccupied to research the "misery index" of double digit inflation and unemployment, high gas prices, and appeasement diplomacy of Jimmy Carter and the Democrat Party resulting in the loss of Iran as a stalwart ally and giveaway of the Panama Canal Zone among many other "achievements" too numerous to mention.

But I suppose a superficial and "youthful" empty suit is the new norm for evaluating candidates for office.

Thanks, "Useful Idiots!" for Jimmy Carter Redux on steroids.

Robert CA.
Unbelievable! With ALL of the insanity going on YOU still post here in defense of the indefensible!

You need to understand that you post from ignorance of the first order!

I read what you posted. I felt profound sadness.
Robert, you really do not deserve to live in this country.Your apalling ignorance is astounding!

There are so many people waiting, waiting, for citizenship. They would do this nation proud.

Why are you here taking up space that someone else wants so badly?

This is not a game Robert. This is not about Republicans and Democrats. It is not about Conservatives and Liberals. This is about our Country!

I am s.o.o.o.o.o.o weary of people like you.

You have no excuse for your posts! Spoiled, Lazy, and Smug, are you.

It sickens me that 4 American soldiers died in Iraq today for the likes of YOU! UGH!

Clearly, Obama is taking notes
on how these dictators are controlling their citizens. Do you think Obama will peaceably go into the night when he is voted out of office? Or do you suppose he'll declare himself the "winner" -- after all, if a 52% victory is a "mandate" wouldn't a 38% loss be a "victory"???

arrest him
It's hard to believe that Obama would side with the neo-marxists of south america, but it confirms in my mind that he is one too.Zelaya is nothing but a neo-commie trying to take over the country of Hondorus using his own private ballot initiatives, stuffed ballot boxes and all. They should have arrested and tried him. The attorney general of Hondorus has said that Zelaya will be placed into custody if he returns.

I Have Been Commenting
On this Black Liberation Theology for months. Today I heard Sean Hannity letting those words slip from his lips on his Radio Show. I even got kicked off of a few sites (Politico) for expressing myself and using those words. I just hope the lights are starting to come on, and the focus will be on the mentor's teachings instead of his protege. Maybe the Moderate Republicans could find a leader then, when they start to understand what they are really up against.
