Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's visit with US President Barack Obama at the White House on Monday was a baptism of fire for the new premier. What emerged from the meeting is that Obama's priorities regarding Iran, Israel and the Arab world are diametrically opposed to Israel's priorities.

During his ad hoc press conference with Netanyahu, Obama made clear that he will not lift a finger to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. And acting as Obama's surrogate, for the past two weeks CIA Director Leon Panetta has made clear that Obama expects Israel to also sit on its thumbs as Iran develops the means to destroy it.

Obama showed his hand on Iran in three ways. First, he set a nonbinding timetable of seven months for his policy of appeasement and engagement of the ayatollahs to work. That policy, he explained, will only be implemented after next month's Iranian presidential elections. And those direct US-Iranian talks must be given at least six months to show results before they can be assessed as successful or failed.

But Israel's Military Intelligence has assessed that six months may be too long to wait. By the end of the year, Iran's nuclear program may be unstoppable. And Iran's successful test of its solid fuel Sejil-2 missile with a 2,000 kilometer range on Wednesday merely served to show the urgency of the situation. Obviously the mullahs are not waiting for Obama to convince them of the error of their ways.

Beyond the fact that Obama's nonbinding timeline is too long, there is his "or else." Obama made clear that in the event that in December or January he concludes that the Iranians are not negotiating in good faith, the most radical step he will be willing to take will be to consider escalating international sanctions against Teheran. In the meantime, at his urging, Congressman Howard Berman, chairman of the House International Affairs Committee, has set aside a bill requiring sanctions against oil companies that export refined fuel into Iran.

Finally there was Obama's contention that the best way for the US to convince Iran to give up its nuclear program is by convincing Israel to give away more land to the Palestinians. As Obama put it, "To the extent that we can make peace with the Palestinians, between the Palestinians and the Israelis, then I actually think it strengthens our hand in the international community in dealing with a potential Iranian threat." This statement encapsulates the basic lack of seriousness and fundamental mendacity of Obama's approach to "dealing with a potential Iranian threat."

Iran has made clear that it wants Israel destroyed. The mullahs don't care how big Israel is. Their missiles are pointing at Tel Aviv, not Beit El. As for the international community, the Russians and Chinese have not been assisting Iran's nuclear and missile programs for the past 15 years because there is no Palestinian state. They have been assisting Iran because they think a strong Iran weakens the US. And they are right.

The Arab states, for their part, are already openly siding with Israel against Iran. The establishment of a Palestinian state will not make their support for action to prevent Iran from acquiring the means to dominate the region any more profound.

On the face of it, Obama's obsessive push for a Palestinian state makes little sense. The Palestinians are hopelessly divided. It is not simply that Hamas rules the Gaza Strip and Fatah controls Judea and Samaria. Fatah itself is riven by division. Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's appointment of the new PA government under Salaam Fayad was overwhelmingly rejected by Fatah leaders. Quite simply, there is no coherent Palestinian leadership that is either willing or capable of reaching an accord with Israel.

As for the prospects for peace itself, given that there is little distinction between the anti-Semitic bilge broadcast daily in Gaza by Hamas-controlled media, and the anti-Semitic bilge broadcast daily in Judea and Samaria by the Fatah/Abbas/Fayad-controlled media, those prospects aren't looking particularly attractive. That across-the-board anti-Semitic incitement has engendered the current situation where Hamas and Fatah members and supporters are firmly united in their desire to see Israel destroyed. This was made clear on Thursday morning when a Fatah policeman in Kalkilya used his US-provided rifle to open fire on IDF soldiers engaged in a counterterror operation in the city.

Given that the establishment of a Palestinian state will have no impact on Iran's nuclear program, and in light of the fact that under the present circumstances any Palestinian state will be at war with Israel, and assuming that Obama is not completely ignorant of the situation on the ground, there is only one reasonable explanation for his urgent desire to force Israel to support the creation of a Palestinian state and to work for its establishment by expelling hundreds of thousands of Israelis from their homes. Quite simply, it is a way to divert attention away from Obama's acquiescence to Iran's nuclear aspirations.

BY MAKING the achievement of the unachievable goal of making peace between Israel and the Palestinians through the establishment of a Palestinian terror state the centerpiece of his Middle East agenda, Obama is able to cast Israel as the region's villain. This aim is reflected in the administration's intensifying pressure on Israel to destroy Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria.

In portraying Jews who live in mobile homes on barren hilltops in Judea and Samaria - rather than Iranian mullahs who test ballistic missile while enriching uranium and inciting genocide - as the greatest obstacle to peace, the Obama administration not only seeks to deflect attention away from its refusal to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. It is also setting Israel up as the fall guy who it will blame after Iran emerges as a nuclear power.

Obama's intention to unveil his Middle East peace plan in the course of his speech to the Muslim world in Cairo on June 4, like his decision to opt out of visiting Israel in favor of visiting a Nazi death camp, make it clear that he does not perceive Israel as a vital ally, or even as a partner in the peace process he wishes to initiate. Israeli officials were not consulted about his plan. Then, too, from the emerging contours of his plan, it is clear that he will be offering something that no Israeli government can accept.

According to media reports, Obama's plan will require Israel to withdraw its citizens and its military to the indefensible 1949 armistice lines. It will provide for the free immigration of millions of Israel-hating Arabs to the Palestinian state. And it seeks to represent all of this as in accord with Israel's interests by claiming that after Israel renders itself indefensible, all 57 members of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (including Iran) will "normalize" their relations with Israel. In short, Obama is using his peace plan to castigate the Netanyahu government as the chief destabilizing force in the region.

During his meeting with Obama, Netanyahu succeeded in evading the policy traps Obama set for him. Netanyahu reserved Israel's right to act independently against Iran and he conceded nothing substantive on the Palestinian issue.

While itself no small achievement, Netanyahu's successful deflection of Obama's provocations is not a sustainable strategy. Already on Tuesday the administration began coercing Israel to toe its line on Iran and the Palestinians by engaging it in joint "working groups."

Then, too, the government's destruction of an outpost community in Judea on Thursday was perceived as Israeli buckling to US pressure. And it doubtlessly raised expectations for further expulsions in the near future.

SO WHAT must Netanyahu do? What would a strategy to contain the Obama administration's pressure and maintain international attention on Iran look like?

Under the present circumstances, the Netanyahu government's best bet is to introduce its own peace plan to mitigate the impact of Obama's plan. To blunt the impact of Obama's speech in Cairo, Netanyahu should present his peace plan before June 4.

Such a plan should contain three stages. First, in light of the Arab world's apparent willingness to engage with Israel, Netanyahu should call for the opening of direct talks between Israel and the Arab League, or between Israel and the Organization of the Islamic Conference, regarding the immediate normalization of relations between Israel and the Arab-Islamic world. Both Obama and Jordan's King Abdullah claim that such normalization is in the offing. Israel should insist that it begin without delay.

This, of course, is necessary for peace to emerge with the Palestinians. As we saw at Camp David in 2000, the only way that Palestinian leaders will feel comfortable making peace with Israel is if the Arab world first demonstrates its acceptance of the Jewish state as a permanent feature on the Middle East's landscape. Claims that such an Israeli demand is a mere tactic to buy time can be easily brushed off. Given Jordanian and American claims that the Arab world is willing to accept Israel, once negotiations begin, this stage could be completed in a matter of months.

The second stage of the Israeli peace plan would involve Israel and the Arab world agreeing and beginning to implement a joint program for combating terrorism. This program would involve destroying terror networks, cutting off funding for terror networks and agreeing to arrest terrorists and extradite them to The Hague or the US for trial. It should be abundantly clear to all governments in the region that there can be no long-term regional peace or stability as long as terrorists bent on destroying Israel and overthrowing moderate Arab regimes are allowed to operate. So making the implementation of such a join program a precondition for further progress shouldn't pose an obstacle to peace. Indeed, there is no reason for it to even be perceived as particularly controversial.

The final stage of the Israeli peace plan should be the negotiation of a final-status accord with the Palestinians. Only after the Arab world has accepted Israel, and only after it has agreed to join Israel in achieving the common goal of a terror-free Middle East, can there be any chance that the Palestinians will feel comfortable and free to peacefully coexist with Israel. And Israel, of course, will feel much more confident about living at peace with the Palestinians after the Arab world demonstrates its good faith and friendship to the Jewish state and its people.

Were Netanyahu to offer this plan in the next two weeks, he would be able to elude Obama's trap on June 4 by proposing to discuss both plans with the Arab League. In so doing, he would be able to continue to make the case that Iran is the gravest danger to the region without being demonized as a destabilizing force and an enemy of peace.

Whether Netanyahu advances such a peace plan or not, what became obvious this week is that his greatest challenges in office will be to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons while preventing the Obama administration from blaming Israel for the absence of peace.

Hopefully Netanyahu will not heed Obama
Obama was a Moslem when he was born and is a Moslem today.
His decisions are made to favor the blood-thirsty Islamics everywhere. Not just the few left in Cuba.
No reference to color here remember he is just as white as he is black.
Surely one can understand he feels better with his own kind.
Than with Americans or Israelis like PM Natanyahu.
Obama is most Patriotic to all Islamic people and Countries. Especially the Saudi Arabia King. So much so he bows ever so gracefully...
Obama could not or would not even look Netanyahu in the face on camera. Why not?
Everything this man does grieves me.
Hopefully now the Jews in our country will help to prove he is not eligiable to be our President!

A dream deferred
Israel is a special creation of the West and the United States. The U.S. has obligations to protect and defend the Jewish state. If Netanyahu rejects the Obama peace plan, then he can go it alone. This means more war. How many more wars do these right-wingers think we can sustain in the Middle East? We have Iraq and Afghanistan. Now they want to add Iran and Pakistan to the mix. A so-called Netanyahu peace plan is a dream that will never come true. The Sunni Arab Muslims have more in common with the Shiite Persian Muslims than they do with the Jews or the Americans. This is another mess Pres. Obama has inherited from the Bush Administration. The invasion and occupation of Iraq has only complicated the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Caroline Glick is wrong to believe there is no connection. Chaka Z.

Palestinian-Israeli conflict
I am a Jew who cares DEEPLY for Israel. I hope that Israel remains a thriving democracy for millennia to come. This is why I sincerlely hope that Netanyahu forsakes the rightwing extremists in his cabinet, and pursues a two-state solution with the Palestinians.

The current position of the Palestinians in Israeli society in untenable. Israel is too humane to deal with Palestinians the way that Arabs deal with their dissidents but has too many security concerns to allow Palestinians the freedom to move about the country. The solution is simple: give the Palestinians their own country to do with as they please so they will no longer be Israel's problem. The only people in Israel who oppose a two-state solution believe that Israel belongs to Jews on religious grounds... and in a democracy, religion ideology should not determine politics. Besides, if you ask the far right in Israel where they think the Palestinians should go, they have no answer. They, themselves cannot offer a solution with a tenable endgame.

If Palestinians remain in their current position, there will continue to regimes like Iran who exploit the conflict to recruit the ignorant masses. Rabin, one of Israel's best (if not THE best) prime ministers bluntly explains

"I believe that in the long run, separation between Israel and the Palestinians is the best solution for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict."

So why delay the inevitable?

Palestinian-Israeli conflict II
As a supporter of Israel, one of the things that frightens me the most is that, one day in the future, America might not be able to get Israel's back. I am terrified of a time when Americans elect a president for whom Israel's existence isn't paramount. I know many of you probably think it is Obama, but in my opinion he is following Rabin's wishes in attempting to bring an end to the Arab-Israeli conflict. If Obama really wanted to screw Israel, he would have continued Bush's policies and continued to foment discontent in the region.
Bush did two things to compromise Israel's security: 1) he engaged in policies which needlessly exacerbated tenions in the region
2) he compromised America's ability to defend Israel by spreading our military too thin

Israel is a nation of 7 million surrounded by 200 million people who don't like it. Until Israel offers Palestinians the chance to determine their own fate, it will be very difficult for Israel remain secure in a future devoid of American support. And Israel's future needs to be certain irregardless of American support. So let's consider middle east policies that actually have endgames, rather than continuing this idiotic stalemate that, without American support, would almost certainly result in Arab and Persian invasions.

The Peace Process
I'm constantly amazed at those who believe a "Peace Process" and negotiations will bear fruit. I can understand the anti-semites position, or at least why they hold their position. I can not understand those who are not anti-semites and actually believe that Israel can "negotiate" with people who fervently believe their religion commands them to kill the Jews. The Palestinians have raised their children on hate filled propaganda, and continue to do so. Daily their radio and television broadcasts are filled with hate mongering against Jews. And the PLO (Fatah, Palestinian Authority) does not speak for all Palestinians, indeed there are internal factions within Fatah who can't agree. And Hamas, which controls Gaza as an elected governing body, refuses to negotiate with Jews at all.

When the Palestinian factions are ready for peace, then negotiations will be fruitful. Until that point, if they engage in negotiations at all, they will use negotiations to weaken Israel's ability to defend itself. At present they still believe in the eventual destruction of Israel and their own, improved version of the "Final Solution". Wishful thinking will not change this.

Edward
It doesn't take a genius to realize that the Palestinians are only going to get angrier and angrier. There are four possible endgames to this conflict:
1) Israel can give Palestinians citizenship. This would be catastrophic because the Jews would lose the majority and likely be slaughtered.
2) Israel maintains its policy and America forsakes Israel. This would also be catastrophic because the Arab countries, and likely Iran, would eventually invade and Israel would fall.
3) Israel maintains it policy and America remains a staunch ally. A large scale war will eventually break out that will consume the region and likely end up in the US slaughtering all who oppose the West. I know some in these forums would be happy with this outcome but I personally would like to avoid the death of tens of millions (possibly hundreds of millions) of people.
4) Israel forms a two-state solution whereby it would cease to bear responsibility for the day to day lives of the Palestinians. Arabs would no longer be rally anti-American sentiment around Israel because the Palestinians will only require money, not "liberation". We in the West will be able to tell the Arabs "if you are upset with the condition of the Pals, donate money to them. They are not our responsibility any more" And no one will be able to argue with us because Palestine will be an independent country.

Jeramy
Then maybe you should read Ezekial, around Chapter 36-39...I am a Christian and I pray for Israel and I am happy Israelis finally put in a real man that isn't afraid to stand up for his country. Would that we had such a man instead of that person you call your preseident (NOT mine until he PROVES it unequivocably just as McCain had to, with ALL pertinent documentation not just a Birth Certificate that can be cooked chemically and even then if he's proven legitimate I will still look at him as impeachable for his abuse of power.)

You should check out some of the recent history of Israel's wars and learn what GOD did for your
fellow Jews..He gave them the Victory over impossible odds and He will again!

There comes a time when MEN must stand for something other than their own selfish, desires and show some convictions and courage. Instead of wishing for the impossible..haven't you read and understood ANY of Joel D O L's posts? How can Israel make peace with people who wants every Jew DEAD!

obomber and Iran
The perfect solution is this: Send o bomber over to Iran to met his homey pal, then homey pal can take him somewhere out in the desert for a sunset viewing, then obomber gets his head lopped off and end of story.
Then, we send joe schmo biden over for the same trip to look for obomber in the desert in Iran.
This idiot will just wander off never to be seen again. Then, we send over pelosi to finish the search for the other 2 morons.

Jeremy !

Points a finger and criticizes ,stating, "Bush did two things to compromise Israel's security: 1) he engaged in policies which needlessly exacerbated tenions (sp.) in the region
2) he compromised America's ability to defend Israel by spreading our military too thin "

Gareth Porter,in Th Asia Times Online writes,
"Israeli officials warned the George W Bush administration that an invasion of Iraq would be destabilizing to the region and urged the United States instead to target Iran as the primary enemy, according to former Bush administration official Lawrence Wilkerson.

By 1996, however, neo-conservatives with ties to the Likud Party in Israel were beginning to argue for a more aggressive joint US-Israeli strategy aimed at a "rollback" of all of Israel's enemies in the region, including Iran, but beginning by taking down Saddam and putting a pro-Israeli regime in power there.

That was the thrust of the 1996 report of a task force led by Richard Perle for the right-wing Israeli think-tank the Institute for Advanced Strategic and Political Studies, and aimed at the Likud prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu. "

Since United States National Interests are not the same as Israel's National Interests and The United States has no written alliance with Israel,The United States has a conflict of Interests with Israli Agendists inside and outside The United States,which needs to be exposed,examined and dealt with.

We got a Problem here and it's serious !

Obama wants the US destroyed
He penned an exec. order along with his abortions order to spend $20 million bringing Palestinian refugees here from Gaza.

Well, Gaza is ALL refugees, going back to 1948 when the UN and Arabs made sure a terror org. would develop that pressured forever to end Israel and annihilate all Jews.

Israel will have to bomb Iran back to the Stone Age herself and let the US and UN weep and wail.

Chaka
Maybe you forget it was under Carter that the Iranians had a revolution, kidnapped our embassy for over a year, and turned from allies to enemies, or that during Carter's *watch,* the USSR invaded Afghanistan because Carter was *surprised* the Russians would do something like that.

And, now, you are surprised these places are still problems in the world.

Maybe you can wave your magic wand and change them.

I am a sophomore now, and in Special Ed.

Thanks for the complement, and thank you for asking.

~~~
I too support Israel, and wonder why so many of our Presidents come down on the wrong side of this issue.
They always try to, or succeed in forcing Israel to make consessions, and never give more than lip-service to the other side.
Reason? I do not know, unless it is OIL.
Israel would love peace, but Islam will never allow it.
Ms Glick has an interesting take on this
subject and I will only criticize one tiny part of it:
"the second part...This program ... agreeing to arrest terrorists and extradite them to The Hague or the US for trial.
I would strongly suggest that the terrorists STAY in the region. Perhaps Turkey? Jordan? Or Egypt?
Number 1 reason is that they would not recognize OUR justice system and/or abuse it.
Number 2 reason is that the trials would be in Arabic, a language they understand, not another they do not understand.
Number 3 reason is that I simply don't want them 'running loose' in Europe or America. They WOULD BE accused terrorists, not girl scouts!
Number 4 reason is that any evidence/witness would be much more 'accessible' to jurists within the region, than outside of it.
Just my opinion.
Way to go, Kylie
Obama sealed his entire past. Why? That's fraud. Also, his birth paper is a forgery. Heck, I had a fake ID to buy beer, but a guy who runs for Pres. of the free world should have a real ID.
Plus, he bowed to that Saudi im-potentate sand monkey. TIme for an impeachment
Deception
I wonder if anyone in the U. S. government has given any thought to the really far out possibility that threatening Israel is a deception? Let’s say Iran successfully designs and builds some nuclear war heads for the Sejil-2 maybe with the help of some folks in Pakistan or N. Korea, or Russia. Then let’s say they put 2 of them on each of 4 tramp steamers with Panamanian registry and sail two to the U.S. west coast and two to the U.S. east coast with an extra nuke onboard for four costal cities. Then for good measure they have some suicide bomber types smuggle a few over the southern border with the help of Venezuela and folks in Mexico. They might be able to take out 8+ cities maybe even more. Take out the great Satan first and the little one would be easy. No way right? They will never produce enough nukes unless maybe they get a few from a friend. They could never overcome the logistical and technical difficulties. They would never get through our impenetrable defenses. Even if they did we would massively retaliate, right? Yeah, let’s just forget that ridiculous scenario. There is no way that could ever possibly happen. Let’s give’em some time though maybe they can work it out. Meanwhile the idea might make a good disaster movie and would make a lot of money in the Middle East.
Netanyahu is right to be concerned....
Israel may face annihilation if Iran Obtains a nuke. A must read is Nobel nominee Kenneth Timmerman's book "Countdown to Crisis...the coming Nuclear Showdown with Iran."
Iran may be a lot closer to having a nuke than we are led to believe.
The only thing Obama accomplished
During his "conference" with Netahyahu was to show the Israeli Prime Minister what a naive and inexperienced fool he is.
Obama hasn't got the first clue about life in the real world and the realities on the ground in the Middle East. The very fact that he couldn't look Netanyahu in the eyes as he suggested that Israel give up yet more land for peace show's that he does know that this plan has never worked in the past and will not work in the future.
The more land Israel gives up, the more the Palestinians demand. Aside from that, in spite of all of the surrendering of land that Israel has done under "Promise" that the hostilities would end, the hostilities remain the same or escalate.
Obama should resign the office that foolish Americans were stupid enough to give him because he is CLEARLY not qualified to hold such a position. He proves it every time he opens his ignorant yap.
It's clear to me
That several of the posters here need to study up on the reality of the conflicts between Israel and the Palestinains.
Joel C Rosenberg's "Epicenter" would be a very good place to start. It goes into great detail of the history of the region and the conflicts, and shows what really must be done to get a real peace over there.
the O will do nothing
to help Israel and he is systematically lowering our guard here at home....One has to ask why?
Is he simply a naive fool like carter? If so, he's relatively harmless and cooler heads will prevail.
Is he a narcissist who believes he and he alone can solve the ills of mankind?
If that's so, he's insane and needs to be watched closely.
OR, is he really a muslim usurper out to complete their agenda of making the world muslim by destroying this country from within?
In that scenario, he needs to be removed as quickly as possible at the first impeachable offense.
Whatever his motives, they bode ill for our country. He is not protecting the Constitution or American values as his job description calls for.
SUCCESS BRINGS HOPE
THE IRANIAN ELECTIONS WILL BE MOST INTERESTING.IS THERE SUCH A THING AS A FAIR ELECTION?WILL THE YOUNGER MAJORITY WANT TO SUSTAIN PEACE AND WORK TOWARD DEMOCRATIC REFORM?
IT IS SUCH A SHAME BY OUR QUEST FOR POWER WE SQUALOR THE MOST POSITIVE ILLUSTRATIONS OF SUCCESS.YES, THERE IS A REASON WE ARE IN IRAQ AND THE ONLY HOPE FOR THE REGION DEPENDS ON THE PEOPLE SEEING THE EFFECTS OF DEMOCRATIC CHANGE.ISN'T THIS WHY OUR SOLDIERS ARE GIVING UP THEIR LIVES?
The Religion of Liberals is Envy...
Envy does not ask that one Covet. Envy demands one destroy what one Covets.
Envy wishes to remove the 'Goodness' of others, so that he -'The Envious One'- will be the sole possessor of all 'Goodness'
What Obama sees as Good, he will work to destroy. What he calls "Transformation" - is destruction.
The question - it is the question that enlightens:
The question is not, 'What does Obama want?'
The question is, 'What does Obama see as Goodness?'
What Obama sees as Goodness, he will, and is, destroying.
WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS
JUST AS CALIFORNIA IS COMING TO A THEATER NEAR YOU,SO TOO IS THE MUSLIM WORLD COMING TO A THEATER NEAR YOU.
Obama: The Enemy Within
The biggest danger Obama poses is simply due to his ignorance and his child like belief that he and he alone has the answer to peace in the middle east, as well as an endless list of world problems. When the United States elects a foolish narcissist as it's president, there is grave danger. The thing to fear most is that this fool believes his own press.
It has become increasingly clear that it has to be his way or the highway. How in the world Netanyahu kept from slapping this clown we may never know, but it does lead us to the conclusion that the prime minister is many times the man our president is.
While we have recently seen Pelosi twisting in the wind we are beginning to see Obama do the same. The day after Harry promises that no Gitmo terrorists will enter the united states, The One has decided that there is some mysterious class of them that will. Even the prince of narcissists can't do much without congress on his side.
Honest Truth ...
Well said!
They are, as you say, "Twisting in the Wind".
"... I have been to the West Bank with an Israeli reporter and have spoken to the Palestinian people. Most of them, like most Israelis, are far more concerned with their own day to day lives than "holy wars" and the like."
Unfortunately, unlike the Israelis, the "Palestinian people" are not the ones who set policy nor would they be the ones who determine what happens in a "Palestinian state"
jeramy, bottom line: they don't like you regardless of how you feel about them and they never will.
Seawolf
I am not sure naïve is an accurate way to describe Carter. One of the tenets of the left is that nation states are impediments to their concept of utopia. They all believe that to a greater or lesser degree. One world government is their answer to this problem thus their love for the U.N. If you listen to them carefully it will be come apparent. Just listen to the sort of stuff George Soros says. I think this may explain a big part of their attitude toward Israel and the USA. Both are viewed as too nationalistic. It may also explain their attitude toward federalism, i.e. the idea of states as at least partially sovereign and oddly enough political fund raising. We don’t have definitive proof but there is certainly evidence that some and maybe a lot of money from foreign sources finds its way into Democratic campaign coffers. In the strictest sense that to me is treason but not to leftists because nation states are no longer valid the idea of treason isn’t valid either. Also oddly it may explain their apparent affinity to Islam. One world caliphate is sort of like one world government, right? Of course leftist haven’t thought much about what the world would be like under an Islamic caliphate but they typically have a hard time thinking beyond their next meal.
Now if you consider the idea of the end of nation states and the institution of world government as naïve then yes Carter and all on the left are naïve. I however prefer to think of it as a malicious, dangerous, and treasonous attitude. I recognize only one valid national attitude to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic". That’s the old written Constitution amendable in writing not the “living” Constitution or the make it up as you go along version.
agree in a fashion
re:
"When the United States elects a foolish narcissist as it's president, there is grave danger."
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
And we previously elected a naive, foolish narcissist in Dubya who had little clue who the players were in the M.E. (in cabinet meetings, he could not keep straight who the factions were in Iraq), and allowed himself (by his own admission) to trust the counsel of a number of neoCONS/Zionist around him (Wolfy, Feith, Perle, Abrams, Libby, Wurmser, Bolton) to take out Iraq-- which had NOTHING to do with 9/11, and actually served as a check on Iran. Secular Saddam and zealot Osama were also opponents.
Dubya indubitably had delusions of intellectual grandeur and judgment-- as when he nominated his sycophant legal secretary for SCOTUS.
The libs in Washington see the M.E. differently fRom Dubya's neoCONS, partly because they naturally resist military solutions. But then there is also a schism among the overly influential Jews (over half of all political contribution $ from less than 2% of population)-- a majority has opposed the militant Zionist approach, including the Iraq War.
Pick your naivete poison. The ONLY sure thing is that the M.E. bleeds us terribly, but is NEVER resolved. Iraq alone will cost us $400,000 per Israeli to take it out for Israel--as the neoCONS planned and executed.
Mom? Dad?
What did you do in the war (for America's soul)? Some conservatives of late have expressed despair regarding the current state of things bordering on depression-induced paralysis. They're whining and moaning about the magnitude of the task at hand and rolling over.
For those who truly have given up because fighting the Obama/Democrat machine is too exhausting, too emotionally draining, with odds not of their liking, I suggest that they look into the eyes of their children and grandchildren and silently admit that, although a scourge is looming over America which will deny their progeny constitutionally-granted freedom and liberty, the demands of the battle are too oppressive to engage in the fight.
Have we become so self-absorbed and ego-centic that we're willing to concede defeat not only for ourselves but also for the young, very young and yet-to-be born Americans?
This is all prophesied
After the disappointment of the Nov elections, my wife observed that in order for prophesy to be fulfilled, our country would need to elect a WEAK president.
Well, that's what we got, and BO is proving himself to be weaker than imaginable.
When will these pea-brains understand that Islamofacisism can only be dealt with from a position of strength?
Touchy-feely foreign policy will only result in inappropriate "touching" and not very good feelings.
Dhimmicrats - doing the same stupid things, over and over, expecting a different result.
They ARE insane, which can be kind of funny when they're not in power, BUT when they hold the reins, we are in deep doo doo.
Jeramy
The bottom line my friend is that you will roll over and beg as you are being killed, while the rest of us, should death come, would prefer to meet it with a sword in our hand.
CHAKA
Just when you think you won't hear "its bushes fault" chaka comes up and surprises us with hes/her ignorance of middle east history. When Bush was just a wee baby, the shiite hit the fan in the middle east chaka and its been ongoing ever since. What hit the fan you ask, why Israel becoming a nation with the blessing of your beloved UN. Why is there still a problem? Because Israel still exists. The destruction of Israel is the only thing that will satisfy them. The so called Palestinians are just the poster children for their campaign of destruction.
Who was it said
"We will have peace when the Arabs love their children more than they hate Jews."
Golda Mier? Who incidentally had more cajones than the entire dhimmicrat party put together.
There is a VERY good reason why I persist in calling them "dhimmicrats." They are the party of dhimmitude and submission to the evil which is Islamofascism.
Tea Party - we know how the story ends, huh.
self-delusion
One of the signs that Israeli current policy cannot be maintained is the level of self-deception needed to maintain it.
Note that, contrary to what Glick says, Obama does not say that peace between the Palestinians and Israelis is the most important thing for dealing with Iran. Rather he is responding to the incoherent argument by Netanyahu that such peace needs to wait for the Iranian situation to be solved. In response, Obama correctly notes that if anything the process goes in the other direction. Stopping an Iranian bomb does nothing to make peace more likely, while peace does weaken the Iranian drive for hegemony in the region.
The part of this that shows the level of insanity in the Likud position is the idea that the Palestinians act as they do because Iran wants them to, and not because they have been under occupation for more than 40 years. This is just insane.
One gets a similarly bizarre bit of insanity in the article above. Glick takes it as a mysterious thing that needs to be explained that Obama would like to push for peace. Imagine how insane one needs to be to think that that is the kind of thing that calls for a conspiratorial explanation.
Obama is pushing for peace, he must be up to something. Amazingly some people actually thing that peace is a good thing all by itself.
Israel
Israel is the center of the universe.
When Israel became a nation the timer was set for the end times.
Read EZ 38/39. There will be a major attack against Israel. It will be an Arab coalition. It will not succeed.
After many days you will be called to arms. In future years you will invade a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel which had long been dsolate. They had been brought out from the nations, and now all of them live in safety. You and all your troops and the many nations with you will go up, advancing like a storm, you will be like a cloud covering the the land. EZ 38: 8-9
This is what will happen in that day; When Gog attacks the land of Israel, my hot anger will be aroused, declares the Sovereign Lord. Im my zeal and fiery wrath I declare that at that time there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel....and all the people on the face of the earth will tremble at my presence...I will summon a sword against Gog on all my mountains...I will execute judgment upon him...I will pour down torrents of rain, hailstones and burning sulfur on him and on his troops and on the many nations with him. And so I will show my greatness and my holiness, and I will make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord. EZ 38:18-24
I expect these events will proceed the peacepact the anti-christ makes with Israel.
Israel will stand until the end. Those Jews who survive the Tribulation will in the end recognize and accept their Messiah.
Patriot
obomber and Iran
You have just made Robert Byrd POTUS.
hmmm...
I approve.
Peace In Our Time
President Obama sounds veery much like Neville Chamberlain. The difference between them is that Obama's motives are unequivically antisemitic. President Obama looks upon Israel as the problem, not the solution, something to push out of the way. Israel is a sovereign Nation. We have no business interfering in their sovereignty any more than the European Union has to interfere in ours. It is fundamentally wrong to force Israel to accept terms for their borders when we would go to war to protect ours if someone were to try to change our borders without our consent. It is only acceptable if it is Israel, I suppose, because the whole world blames them for not going away peacefully. If they can't go away peacefully we will have to destroy them. However, Isael will be here long after we are all gone.
The Future
Everything is moving inexorably towards a conclusion that has already been predicted.
There will be one world gov, it's called the "New World Order" and it's almost here.
When Israel is attacked no one comes to their aid. That means the US doesn't care, which is possible with our Moslem president or we are already out of commission. I suspect the latter.
Judgment is coming to America.
Regionalism as the way to one world gov is the plan. EU, NAU, SAU, etc. NAU is what is up next on their schedule. Whatever it will take to bring down the country will not be pretty. I am expecting economic collapse. We will be told the NAU is the answer. The godless will believe it. Just like they are going along with the delusion that Obama is some kind of Messiah.
Their plans state 6 "unions". The bible tells us their will be 10.
“The ten horns of the beast are ten kings who have not yet risen to power. They will be appointed to their kingdoms for one brief moment to reign with the beast. They will all agree to give him their power and authority. Together they will go to war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will defeat them because he is Lord of all lords and King of all kings. And his called and chosen and faithful ones will be with him.” Rev 17 12-14
Dan 7 tells us the 10 kings are in place before the anti-christ subdues three of them to take over.
God is on the throne and not one word of his will pass away. Christians should not be caught unawares and should recognize the season. It's getting very close.
The future redux....
"The American Union follows the first step, the European Union, and then the African Union, in the Elite's plan to control the entire world. Next will be the Asian Union, and the Soviet Union, all to be completed between the years 2010 and 2015. This is not my speculation, it's their stated plans, as detailed in a UN document titled Our Global Neighborhood (available in any bookstore, on special order)."
“We are grateful to the Washington Post, The New York Times, Time Magazine… whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the bright lights of publicity during those years. But, the work is now much more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination practiced in past centuries.”
David Rockefeller
```````````
Obama boasted of "remaking" America during his 100 days speech. He's one of the "intellectual elite".

I hope everyone knows that the DEM versus REP debate is a total waste of time. Both parties have sold us out. The money power owns both parties.

It's globalization versus national sovereignty, Individualism versus collectivism. If the root issue is not addressed it's just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic over and over and over again.

Reality

"Unfortunately, it has been the Christian Right's blind support for President Bush in particular and the Republican Party in general that has precipitated a glaring and perhaps fatal defect: the Christian Right cannot, or will not, honestly face the real danger confronting these United States .... On the whole, they fail to understand the issues that are critical to our nation's—and their own—survival .... Sadly, this is what the Christian Right just doesn't get: ninety percent of the time, it doesn't matter to a tinker's dam whether a Republican or Democrat wins the White House .... All the pro-life, pro-family, traditional-values, conservative talk is just that: talk. Republicans use conservative rhetoric the same way Democrats use liberal rhetoric. Neither party believes what they are telling their constituents. They merely say what constituents want to hear in order to get elected; after which, they set about to do what their elitist, globalist manipulators tell them to do." Chuck Baldwin

Check out "Anti-Christ, Islam's Awaited Messiah" by Joel Richardson

This calls for a mind with wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. They are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for a little while. The beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the seven and it going to his destruction. Rev 17:9-11

The fallen five...

The Egyptian Empire
The Assyrian Empire
The Babylonian Empire
The Persian Empire
The Greek Empire

"After these five, the angel tells John that one empire "is"."

That would be the Roman Empire.

"The next empire, of course, is the seventh, and then the eight will be the empire of the Anti-christ. So the seventh empire is the empire that we need to identify. Because according to the verse above, it is the eighth empire that will be a resurrection or a revived version of the seventh empire..."

What empire followed Rome?

"The Roman Empire didn't actually completely fall until the eastern portion of the Empire finally fell in 1453A.D. to the Turks. Likewise it was the Islamic Caliphate of Umar Ibn al-Khattab that took Jerusalem in 637. Thus we see that is was the Islamic Empire culminating with the OTTOMAN EMPIRE that suceeded the Roman Empire and ruled over the entire Middle East...the Turkish Empire existed right up until 1909....Thus we see that the only empire that fulfills the patterns necessary to be considered the seventh empire is the Turkish/Ottoman Empire."

I most assuredly agree with you here is why.

I was at Blockbusters on Saturday renting videos, and I was going along the wall and there was a video called "Obama". I told the men next to me that I wouldn't waste my time. We started talking about Obama.

These guys were Arabs, and I asked them why they thought Michele Obama headed home following her visit in France instead of traveling on to Saudi Arabia and Turkey with her husband.

They said she couldn't go to Saudi Arabia , Turkey or Iraq. I said "Laura Bush went to Saudi Arabia , Turkey , and Dubai ."

They answered, "Obama is a Muslim, and by Muslim law, he would not be allowed to bring his wife into the countries that accept Sharia Law."

Just thought it was interesting that the Arabs at Blockbuster's accept the idea that we're being led by a Muslim who follows the Islamic creed. They also said that's the reason he bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia . It was a signal to the Muslim world.

This is a portion of an email I received this morning from a very Patriotic woman.

Perhaps if we dig out some more Sharia law we can better understand the decisions he is making in favor of all Islamics. Also, why he thinks he can get away with this. Sooner or later some more folks will wake up.

Obama and security?

Why would anyone think Obama cares about Israeli security?

He doesn't care about U.S. security let alone Israel.

Israel
should drop a half dozen atomic bombs on Iran, and it should have been done yesterday.

Iran has asked for it with all the declarations they have made of their intent to destroy Israel. If this happens, Iran has no one to blame but itself.

Only a fool sits by waiting while their enemey develops the weaspons to destroy them.

Bad Moon Rising
The 12th Imam: Why Is This Especially Important Now?
While Christians look for Jesus’ 2nd coming, the Jews await the Messiah and Muslims await the 12th Imam. However, of the three, Allah’s designated Mahdi is the only one who demands a violent path to conquer the world. Mr. Ahmadinejad, and his cabinet, say they have a ‘signed contract’ with al Mahdi in which they pledge themselves to his work. What does this work involve? In light of concerns over Iran’s nuclear capabilities, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has reportedly stated Israel should be wiped off the map. He spoke to the United Nations in September ’05. During that speech he claims to have been in an aura of light and felt a change in the atmosphere during which time no one present could blink their eyes. Iran’s PM is also said to have spoken in apocalyptic terms and seems to relish conflict with the West whom he calls the Great Satan. This is while he proclaims he must prepare the world for the coming Mahdi by way of a world totally under Muslim control. He is working hard to bring about the world-wide horrors that must be in place for their al Mahdi to bring peace.

This notion and goal, along with a violent hatred of infidels, America and Israel reminds us of Biblical prophecies of the coming anti-Christ and the pledges of millions to a deceiving False Messiah who will claim to bring peace. Could this 12th Imam Mahdi and his servant Ahmadinejad spark the last days of the coming true Savior?

If someone should attack me, I would fight to the death. But should I win that fight, I see no reason to punish everyone who looks like my attackers. Don't forget the Kadima party (the ones who wish a two state solution) won the most votes in the elections. And while these Israelis want nothing more than peace with their neighbors, the are trained and ready to defeat any and all who attack them.
Aggression is a sign of weakness as it implies you are afraid to coexist with people who are different than you. It doesn't take courage to persecute people who disagree with you, it takes courage to tolerate them (a lessen the Christian right would be wise to learn).

Re: Culture of Death
"All the pro-life, pro-family, traditional-values, conservative talk is just that: talk."

No, you pro-death Democrats have managed to rack up a death toll in the US that rival those of Lenen, Stalin and Mao. It is a lot more than mere "talk" - it is the death of the innocent that has lead to the death of our culture, which according to Alexis de Tocqueville was "pro-family and traditional values."

Israel
I was wondering why everybody in the world is so wrong and Israel is so right.The info we are getting is entirely shaded or the truth.You cant always be right, regardless who you are.Old Bibi is a good poker player.Is there a possibility he is dealing from the bottom of the deck!!!!!!

Buyer's remorse
What were the American Jews & Catholics thinking when they overwhelmingly voted for that abortion promoting, anti semitic gas bag? Have they come to their senses YET? Can we have "overs"?

Re: Bible for Theologically Challenged
"The next empire, of course, is the seventh, and then the eight will be the empire of the Anti-christ."

Not according to John:

1 John 2:15-26

"Do not love the world nor the things in the world If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and yhe boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever. Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be shown that they all are not of us. But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know. I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie is of the truth. Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also. As for you, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. This is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life. These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you."

Re: Bible for Theologically Challenged
John also instructs us that the so-called Antichrist is a man whose name in Latin equals 666.

Revelation 13:18

"Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six."

This man, as John's contemporaries would have known, was Roman Emperor Nero, who at the time was the World's prime persecutor of Christians. Interestingly a very early manuscript of John's Apocalapse, written in Greek, shows the number as 616 - which is the value of the letter's in Nero's name in the Greek alphabet. Most biblical scholars confirm this understanding.

Re: Fooling the people
"What were the American Jews & Catholics thinking when they overwhelmingly voted for that abortion promoting, anti semitic gas bag? Have they come to their senses YET? Can we have 'overs'?"

As that great founding Republican, Abraham Lincoln, once said: "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time."

I was wondering why everybody in the world in 1938, except Winston Churchill, thought that Hilter was a great "Peace Maker". As I recall, Churchill was a good poker player, also.

Cher's Anti-Catholic Crap !

Cher Bloviates,"What were the American Jews & Catholics thinking when they overwhelmingly voted for that abortion promoting, anti semitic gas bag?

White Catholics Voted 52 to 47 Percent for McCain.

All Catholics ,White and Non-White Voted 54 to 45 for Obama.

Your "Overwhelmingly Voted " for Obama Is Anti-Catholic Crap !

Do your homework before you attempt to Criticize The Catholic Vote With The Jewish Vote ,Agenda Girl.
The Jewish Vote was 78 to 21 for Obama.

I believe that Islam is the fulfillment of a curse on the descendents of Abraham do to his disobedience to God, as with Adam and Eves, when instead of waiting patiently for the promised heir from his aged wife Sarah, he allowed his wife, to talk him into laying with her Egyptian maid, the result of which was the birth of Ismael, the father of Islam. It has been these descendents of Ismael who have caused the children of Israel the most torment and death right up until the Greek and Roman era, and they continue to cause Israel anguish today.

Genesis 16:10-12

"And again he said: I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, and it shall not be numbered for multitude. 11 And again: Behold, said he, thou art with child, and thou shalt bring forth a son: and thou shalt call his name Ismael, because the Lord hath heard thy affliction. He shall be a wild man: his hand will be against all men, and all men's hands against him: and he shall pitch his tents over against all his brethren."

What's up with
Iran's obsession with destroying Israel, anyway? Iran is so far away from Israel. It's like if France was obsessed with destroying, say, Estonia. Just weird!

Lamafobe
The arabs/muslims have been brainwashed to hate the jews. Anything and everything that is wrong in the arab world is blamed on the jews.
The majority of these people are illiterate and poor. Many do not have access to the truth from the outside world. Most will not believe truth anyway as they are so steeped in the lies. Its their culture. It's part of Islam.

Islam teaches that if the muslims can create enough chaos in the world (especially with Israel and the USA) they will usher in Mohammed. They want bloodshed and death for Allah.

Lon in PA...
It is you, Lon in PA, who are out of touch with reality regarding the middle east. Iran is presently the "aorta" of Islamic hatred for the Jews. The Iranian hatred diffuses all throughout the terrorist-held portions of the ME, which includes Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon. Their hatred takes the form of weapons smuggled from Iran to these areas to be used against Israel. Hezbollah in Lebanon is Iranian funded, trained and supplied. Hamas, who controls Gaza, is likewise supplied by Iran, by way of transport thru Africa and Egypt, then thru tunnels from Egypt to Gaza.

So Netanyahu is correct that Iran is the most pressing problem in the ME. If you stop the Iranian "heart" and end the supplies coming from that satanic "aorta" into the areas around Israel, the problem is more manageable for the Israelis.

And by the way, Lon, since Obama is a Muslim himself, everything he does is aimed at diminishing Israel and supporting his Muslim brothers in their supernatural hatred of Israel and their quest for Israel's annihilation.

Peace in thePalestinian/Israel Debacle
The only way peace is going to come about is #1 U.S. keep its nose out of it.A seperate state: Palestine and Israel.Israel handle your own problems without trying to get everyone involved.Stay out of the Palestinian territory.Dialogue is better than aggression.I.E. Invasion of the West Bank and Lebanon,and trying to justify to the world that your the victim.It just doesnt work any more.

Georgann... Thank You for
your honesty.

I often write that the Liberals Hate Jews with a Passion, and they most always deny their 'Murderous Envy'.

It's heartening to know that at least some will not deny their feelings of hatred, as Obama and his ilk often do.

But alas, as Hatred grows, so does the number of those Hated. And in the end, the Hater becomes one of the Hated, and suffers the same wrath as the ones first Hated.

Recall, Hitler did not stop at the Jews. His Hatred grew to include many, his own chosen people included. And is that not where we find Obama today, loathing half of America - the good half?

Re: Hysterical Historians
"Israel and Israelis are responsible for pretty much every war and act of terrorism since WWI."

Israel and Israelis didn't exist in the 20th Century until the UN created it in 1948.

"If Iran put them out of their misery - America would be a safer place."

You mean the Mullahs would than cut the "Great Satan" some slack if they destroyed the "Little Satan"?

"I'm tired of my government being manipulated by the relatives of those murderous creeps."

Of which "murderous creeps" do you refer - those Rag Heads that destroyed the WTC or those Nazis that orchestrated the "Final Solution". Or is it that you are one of those intellectual "Holocaust" deniers like the Iranian and the rest of Islamo-Fascists. Interesting how you seem to support the Fascist Worldview.

"Oh sure... the xenophobes of the right love to hate Muslims ... so it's a great marriage..."

As compared to the what, the xenophobes of the Left, who believe that the only good Jew is a dead Jew?

"unfortunately there won't be many children."

No, not if you Leftist insure mandatory abortion.

"THE GOP IS DOA... get rid of the creeps and thugs."

The real "creeps and thugs" are denizens of the Democrats, and they call themselves ACORN, the New Party, Democratic Socialists of America, Social Democratic Party of America, etc. What I find to be truly amazing is how a Leftist like you can sing so well the anthem of the Fascist Nazis and Rag Heads.

Mr.Netanyahu
This man is a patriot and one of few world leaders intelligent enough to defend and protect the country he loves and represents,who by the way gets daily attacks from across he border which we would not tolerate.I would have loved to be a fly on the wall w/his visit to Washington a "diplomat" meeting with the "child man" who dislikes Israel with a passion.This is one leader not to "screw with" because he is not for sale and I respect him greatly !!! Too bad he is not our president and how sad for the american jewish population who "sold their "homelands soul" in this last election because they lacked the wisdom in their votes to think logically & with intelligence.Hope and change are mere words and now the RADICAL agenda is unfolding because of the progressive "dumbing down" of a nation. Ultimately their beloved country could pay the ultimate price & one can only wonder how they can & will live with themselves should any harm come to Israel,another great nation who deserves to live in peace no matter the cost.

At Last........
Great Article Ms. Glick.....The stage is certainly being set is it not? It appears Mr. Netanyahu was elected just in the nick of time for the Israelis.

Lost Opportunity !!
To Jermay of N.Y.
You ask what could be done to resolve this.
Harken back to a time of Isreal's financial largess,superior war making ability,and pos- sesion of the Sinai desert.
The solution which all the U.N. and all the Middle East would wail and lament was to
round up all the Palestinians,pay a fixed sum for displacement,and put them in the Sinai.
Then return the Sinai to Egypt along with all
their Moslem brothers.
The Palestinians have been a rabble-rousing, rent-a-mob since Jordan killed over 10,000 and threw the rest out of their kingdom.
Why the Jews,providing garbage pickup, sewer &
water, electric power, and medical aid to Pales-
tinian refugees(while NO Arab nation provides
anything except arms)should put up with a people
who basically lift their leg on any Jewish aid
that is offered,is insane.
Once they were gone,simply wall off the
exit and populate Gaza & the West Bank with Jews. See, that wasn't so hard, was it?
