Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

British Prime Minister Tony Blair has gone on an appeasement spree and no one seems to mind. On Friday, Blair gave a marquis interview to Al-Jazeera's new psychological warfare platform - its English-language channel - to celebrate its launch.

It is unclear whether Blair meant to give the impression in that interview that he agreed with Al-Jazeera's Man-about-Town-in-Britain David Frost's assertion that the US-British war in Iraq is "pretty much a disaster." But Blair has made unmistakably clear that what he is suing for now is an ignominious American-British retreat from Iraq.

In his recent statements and actions, Blair has been unambiguous in communicating his belief that peace in Iraq begins with Israeli surrender to the Palestinians, Hizbullah and Syria. Blair sees in suicidal Israeli retreats from the Golan Heights, Judea and Samaria the key to unlocking the hearts of the mullahs in Teheran and the Ba'athists in Damascus. As Blair sees it, these enemies of Israel, the US, Britain and the entire Free World will suddenly become reliable friends of the non-Jewish West if Israel is left at their tender mercies. As friends, Iran and Syria will allow the US and Britain to surrender Iraq with their heads held high as they hand global jihadists their greatest victory since the Soviet retreat from Afghanistan.

No less disturbing than Blair's embrace of surrender as a national strategy is the utter lack of outrage against his decision in the British and international media. No one questioned for instance, his decision to grant Al-Jazeera in English an exclusive interview. It is widely accepted, even by some of the British media, that Al-Jazeera's Arabic satellite station is used as a recruiting tool for global jihad. It can be reasonably presumed that the English channel will be used to erode the West's will to defend itself against global jihadist domination. The fact that the network is now operating an English channel should send a chill up the spine of Western and specifically British media outlets which will now have to compete against an enemy propaganda arm masquerading as a news channel.

THERE ARE many reasons that actions like Blair's strategic retreat from reason and responsibility have gone uncriticized by the media. It is not simply that Western, and particularly European journalists are overwhelmingly anti-American and virulently anti-Israel. One of the central reasons for the silence of Western intellectuals and media in the face of actions like Blair's is fear of death at the hands of jihadists.

In France today, high school teacher Robert Redeker has been living in hiding for two months. On September 19 Redeker published an op-ed in Le Figaro in which he decried Islamist intimidation of freedom of thought and expression in the West as manifested by the attacks against Pope Benedict XVI and against Christians in general which followed the pontiff's remarks on jihad earlier that month.

Redeker wrote, "As in the Cold War, where violence and intimidation were the methods used by an ideology hell bent on hegemony, so today Islam tries to put its leaden mantel all over the world. Benedict XVI's cruel experience is testimony to this. Nowadays, as in those times, the West has to be called the 'Free World' in comparison to the Muslim world; likewise, the enemies of the 'Free World,' the zealous bureaucrats of the Koran's vision, who swarm in the very center of the 'Free World,' should be called by their true name."

In reaction to Redeker's column, Egypt banned Le Figaro and Redeker received numerous death threats. His address and maps to his home were published on al-Qaida-linked Web sites and he was forced to leave his job, and flee for his life. While Redeker e-mailed a colleague that French police have set free the man they know was behind the threats to his life, Redeker recently described his plight to a friend in the following fashion, "There is no safe place for me, I have to beg, two evenings here, two evenings there... I am under the constant protection of the police. I must cancel all scheduled conferences."

For its part, Le Figaro 's editor appeared on Al-Jazeera to apologize for publishing Redeker's article.

This weekend British author Douglas Murray discussed the intellectual terror in the Netherlands. Murray, who recently published Neoconservativism: Why We Need It , spoke at a conference in Palm Beach, Florida sponsored by the David Horowitz Freedom Center. He noted that the two strongest voices in Holland warning against Islamic subversion of Dutch culture and society - Pim Fortyn and Theo Van Gogh - were murdered.

The third most prominent voice calling for the Dutch to take measures to defend themselves, former member of parliament Ayan Hirsi Ali, lives in Washington, DC today.

Her former colleague in the Dutch parliament, Geert Wilders, has been living under military protection, without a home, for years. In the current elections, Wilders has been unable to campaign because his whereabouts can never be announced. His supporters were reluctant to run for office on his candidates' slate for fear of being similarly threatened with murder. Last month, two of his campaign workers were beaten while putting up campaign posters in Amsterdam.

In 2000, Bart Jan Spruyt, a leading conservative intellectual in Holland established a neoconservative think tank called the Edmund Burke Institute. One of the goals of his institute is to convince the Dutch to defend themselves against the growing Islamist threat. In the period that followed, Spruyt was approached by security services and told that he should hire a bodyguard for personal protection. Although he couldn't afford the cost of a bodyguard, the police eventually provided him with protection after showing up at his office hours after Van Gogh was butchered by a jihadist in the streets of Amsterdam in November 2004.

ANOTHER LEADING conservative voice, law professor and social critic Paul Cliteur distinguished himself for his repeated calls for freedom of thought and for the protection of the Dutch secular state. In the weeks after Van Gogh's murder, Cliteur was the target of unremitting criticism from his leftist colleagues in the press. According to a report by the International Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights, his colleagues blamed him and his ideological allies for the radicalization of the Muslims of Holland.

Clituer reacted to their abuse by announcing on television that he would no longer speak out or write about the Islamic takeover of Holland.

As the Helsinki report notes, although the European Human Rights Convention stipulates that states must enable free speech, "Annemarie Thomassen, a former Dutch judge at the [European Human Rights Court] in Strasbourg, stated that the limits to freedom of speech in the European context lie where the expressed opinions and statements affect the human dignity of another person. This means that, according to her, in Europe one cannot simply write and say anything one wants without showing some respect to other persons."

IN BRITAIN itself, the fact that no media organ dared to publish the Danish cartoons of Muhammad last year is a clear indication of the level of fear in the hearts of those who decide what Britons will know about their world.

Melanie Phillips, the author of Londonistan , noted at the Freedom Center conference that what Britons hear is best described as "a dialogue of the demented." In this dialogue, European Islamists protest victimization at the hands of the native Europeans while threatening to kill them, and native Europeans apologize for upsetting the Muslim radicals and loudly criticize the US and Israel for not going gently into that good night.

In the meantime, jihadist ideologues and political leaders are flourishing in Europe today. In Britain, aside from happily helping Al-Jazeera's ratings, the government has hired Muslim Brotherhood members as counterterrorism advisers.

In the wake of the Muslim cartoon pogroms, the BBC invited Dyab Abou Jahjah, who heads the Arab European League, to opine on the cartoons on its News Night program. Jahjah, who is affiliated with Hizbullah, led anti-Semitic riots in Antwerp in 2002 in which his followers smashed the windows of Jewish businesses, chanted slogans praising Osama bin Laden, and called out, "Hamas, Hamas, Jews to the gas!" Most recently, Jahjah published cartoons depicting Anne Frank in bed with Adolph Hitler.

The first action that Yasser Arafat took in 1994 after establishing the Palestinian Authority was to attack Palestinian journalists, editors and newspaper offices. Journalists and editors were arrested and tortured and all were forced to accept PA control over their news coverage. The man charged with overseeing censorship was then information minister Yasser Abed Rabbo who in a later psychological warfare coup, signed the so-called Geneva Accord with Yossi Beilin in 2003.

This is the nature of our times. We are at war and those who warn of its dangers are being systematically silenced by our enemies who demand that nothing get in the way of our complacency with our own destruction.

If journalists, intellectuals, social critics, authors and concerned citizens throughout the world do not rise up and demand that their governments protect their right to free expression and arrest and punish those who intimidate and trounce that right, one day, years from now, when students of history ask how it came to pass that the Free World willingly enabled its own destruction, they will have to look no further than the contrasting fortunes of Al-Jazeera and Dyab Abou Jahjah on the one hand and Le Figaro and Robert Redeker on the other.

P*nis-Melting Zionist Robot Combs
Khartoum, September 2003 -- A plague of robot combs held the city in terror, causing untold havoc by melting countless Sudanese p*nises. Attacking victims of any age, from infant to the very old, the vicious robot combs shrank p*nises to a smooth Nubian nubbin, or in some cases caused them to fall free from the body. The freed penises were observed to burrow into the dirt, whence they emerged during the wet season to devour birds and small game, and attempt to breed with farm animals.

According to the United Nations' World Health Organization, the electronic robot combs exist in a complex symbiotic relationship with hand shaking and verbal curses. Epidemiologists throughout the Islamic world have identified the combs' robotic genome as consistent with strains developed by the Zionist entity.

Stated Ja'far Abbas, a prominent Sudanese columnist, "No doubt, this comb was a laser-controlled surgical robot that penetrates the skull, to the lower body and emasculates a man!!" He added that "shaking hands with a dark-skinned man" greatly increased susceptibility to the p*nis melting properties of the robot combs.

Sudan's Minister of Health, Abul-Gasim Mohamed Ibrahim, stated that the phenomenon was investigated by Sudanese police, who found no evidence of a supernatural agent, thus affirming the likelihood of Zionist involvement.

What does the preceeding have to do with M Redeker?

Neither is a hoax. I added elements of the surreal, but the title contains the gist of the hysteria.

It’s a civil war, with only one side fighting.

Intolerable.

I wrote it up for my own self, here:

pearliegirl
suit up. You can start in Iraq.

Bingo!
Ms. Glick hits it right on the head again.

Democracies do not get overthrown, or defeated in war...they are brought down by suicide.

The free world is in the slitting the wrist stages. We will soon be shining up that bullet, to be used around 2020.

By then so many muslim countries will have the bomb, and a delivery system, i WILL NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT MY CHILDREN EUTHINIZING ME(SP).

Pearlie girl
Very forbodeing, your post. Also it is very Churchillian.

Calling Dr Pearlie

Pearlie,
You got a lousy bedside manner, but you sure read that xray right.

DEATH WISHES
Miss Glick (and Pearliegirl) are indeed 100% right. These are not opinions, they're facts. The muslims are not a reasonable, rational lot we can debate with, this isn't some policy dispute between Republicans and Democrats or Labourites vs. Tories, but the MSM treats it as if it were.
As the ex-PM of Israel said a few days ago, the nazis were saying the same things the Muslims say now. They meant what they said, and so do their 21st century equivelants.
We can defend ourselves, but the cancer of political correctness has set in rather deeply in the civilized countries. The liberals have infiltrated our media, judiciary and political institutions, inflicting self doubts and loathing until we've become to the point where we give into anything that will hurt us, as if we deserve /need to be weakened and punished.
I think it's no longer a case of gutless appeasers in the west, by my experience in what our institutes of what once was higher learning, but now are indoctrination mills, I postulate that what we are seeing is really a massive, if subconscious, surrender to those who unimbiguously want our destruction as a means with of purging their obsessive guilt.
In other words, we'll be matching their deathwish to destroy us with a deathwish to be destroyed. Once we run out of patriots and defenders, the path will be cleared.

my 2 cents
This whole thing has always been is now and will always be about one thing - the existence of the State of Israel. Hamas and Hezbollah and people of that ilk will NEVER recognize that right, and they don't care how many innocent women and children are killed - their own if necessary but preferably others. They just DON'T CARE. And they have said that out loud too. They make their intentions crystal clear to anyone who asks and if you don't think they do then I would ask you to check the website http://www.memri.org. That is where they come out of the woodwork and say what they really mean.

Why do you think that no one in the middle east has come out and said that that whacko who is running the show in Iran is a whacko when it is patently obvious that he is a whacko? Could it be because they agree with him?

One of the more arresting images in the news lately has been the photos of the Palestinian civilians who have occupied the house of a prominent Hamas terrorist in order to forestall the Israeli's announced intention of bombing that house. IOW - they know that the Israelis are too decent to bomb that house when there are innocent civilians in it.

Question - show of hands - how many of you believe that if the situation were reversed a Palestinian terrorist would hesitate for ONE SECOND to bomb that house?

And odds are he would be shouting "allah akbar" when doing it.

to Jack H
Check http://www.memri.org go to SD archives and check SD #592. Worth the trip.

whoops
It's #593.

Titlt: "Panic in Khartoum - Foreigners shake hands, makes pen.... disappear."

I kid you not. And after you read it just consider that these are the kind of people we have to deal with. IOW - they're not like us.

SECRET HANDSHAKES
I read the article. It just goes to show you how absurdly backwards muslim people are. Their superstitions are all of a paranoid nature, as this illustrates. All they ever talk about is how the west, the Christians and the Jews are cheating and robbing them of prestige and honor, as the recent post on the MEMRI (see above) site where the discussion turned to the NOBEL prizes and the reason why only four muslims have ever recieved one. The simple(ton) explanation: they're all out to get us, and the usual conspirators are at fault, with the Masons thrown in for good measure. It never could be a possibility that the dogged determination to live a sixth-century hate-filled existance could pan out to any worthwhile benefit to the mankind, or that the prizes are only handed out for the benifit of mankind. They are called "Peace" prizes after all!
Just for good measure, the speaker adds that the four actual muslim recipients are traitors to their faith and all kinds of dishonor is dumped on them. So the confused message is, it's racist and anti-muslim to not have muslim Nobel prize winners, and at the same time treacherous an anti-muslim to BE a muslim Nobel prize winner. Go figure.

I can't forget
that Tony Blair is a leftist. He is also a good friend of Bill Clinton. Blair has been a staunch ally of America in Afganistan and Iraq. Or if you see it that way, as I do, in the War on Terror. No question about that. He needs to be considered in another context though.

I saw Blair when he boasted that the rising rate of gun related crimes in Britain would diminish as soon as the more stringent gun laws his Party has had passed go into effect. He totally disregarded the astronomical increase in gun violence that began as soon as Britain initiated the draconian laws they already have.

Where all of this leaves me is that I don't trust Tony Blair any more than I trust Bill Clinton. His advice that negotiation with Iran and Syria be entered into by America is idiotic. It is identical to the advice of Democrats who have never explained how you can negotiate with people whose religious duty is to convert and subjugate everyone, or put them to the sword.

Everything that Caroline Glick says in this article highlights the impossibility of reasoning with these sixth century lunatics. Democrats are in charge now. Blair echos the positions stated by them before they won the majority. I guess they can go forward with their delusional program to pacify and convince the Muslim jihadists that we aren't bad people, and that it was George Bush and the "neo-cons" who are bad.

I wonder what will happen if the Muslims say, OK, we will require lists of all these conservative Republicans so that we can put them to the sword. Then we can forsake our solemn religious duty to kill ALL infidels, and just get along with you nice leftists.

Don't spend too much time thinking about that. It will never happen. I don't care what Tony Blair or any leftist says, since lying is normal for them. Even the Democrats in the majority in Washington are not that stupid. Dishonest, delusional, without scruples, yes. Stupid, I don't think so.

Question
Since when does talking = appeasement? That's all it is. Talking with your enemies is not a bad thing. We dealt with Stalin to defeat Hitler. We dealt with communist China to counter the Soviets. We talked with the Soviets to ease tensions. We dealt with Hussien to contain Iran. How is the current situation different?

Besides, I find it hard Israel is in any real danger of destruction. They're easily the equal of any three countries opposing them and they're the only nuclear power in the Middle East. Hamas and Hezbelluh kill Israeli citizens, but are they capable of driving Israel into the sea? Uh, no.

Frey
"Hamas and Hezbelluh kill Israeli citizens, but are they capable of driving Israel into the sea? Uh, no"

Frey, you forget that Iran is behind Hezbollah.
Could they take out Iran? Sure they could with whatever weapons given to them by Iran. The weapons keep on rolling through Syria to Hezhollah as we speak now.

In my experience talking with your average everyday "lunatic" never accomplishes anything. Anybody have this experience in your workplace? Good luck. Talking never helps because the "lunatics" are not "rational". You can't deal the say way you would deal with a rational person.

So what makes you think talking to the lunatics who want to form a caliphate would do any good?

Talk, talk, talk away, but their agenda will not change and that is to rid the world of Israel and us. So, sure talk won't hurt. It won't help either.

Iran will march on to do what it intends to do and we had better take them seriously.

Sure, Hitler was talked to also. It didn't stop him either. He was a lunatic and he had already decided to do what he wanted and all the talk in the world did no good.

PearlieGirl
Crack open a history book. The Russians stopped the Wehrmacht at the gates of Moscow in Dec 1941, when the British were still recovering from the Battle of Britain and we were still picking up pieces of battleship at Pearl Harbor. In February 1943, before the Normandy invasion, before the Italian campaign, even before major bombing raids on European continent, the battle of Stalingrad was over, which was the turning point in the war, and won by? Yes, the Russians. Ask any WWII historian. Of all the Allies, the Soviets made the biggest contribution by far.

"COMMIE Stalin had been merrily murdering MASSES of Russian. HE made Hitler look like an amatuer, in terms of wanton slaughter. And MAO? Oh - those clever Chinese - no-one even KNOWS how many Chinese that the Commie meglomaniac FREAK slaughtered - the estimates are around 100 MILLION. He's got to be the WORST mass MURDERER in history,"

Which is exactly my point. These men were monsters, thugs, and quite possibly crazy. Did we attack them? No, we contained them, kept their ambitions in check until our stronger economies and democratic way of life won the conflict. Force of arms kept the Soviets at bay, but it didn't win the Cold War in the end. People behind the Iron Curtain looked at our economy and our freedoms, they looked at their economy and their freedoms (ha), and eventually said, "Well, screw this! We want to be democratic, too!" It took fifty years in the end, but it worked. On the other hand, if we'd listened to people like you, most of the Northern Hemisphere would be a burnt out wasteland and the few of us that were still alive would have cockroaches as a major staple of our diet.

"This my last Email account
I've been booted off Townhall forums three times already, for my.....errr..."vivid" mode of expression, especially on this issue."

I think I speak for a number of people here when I say, "Wow, really? I would never have guessed"

Have a nice day.

Peppermint
Actually, I didn't forget anything. Israel is easily the equal of Iran militarily. Sure, Iran has the edge in numbers, Israel has better equipment, better training, and quite possibly, pound for pound, the best fighting force on the planet. Anything Iran could give Hamas, the Israelis could handle, including one nuclear weapon, which Iran does not even have yet.

Sure, the talk coming out of parts of the Muslim world makes me nervous. Believe me, I don't want to see Israel destroyed any more than you do. They have a right to exist like anyone else. But I'm not convinced we've exhausted our options with Iran. We're having enough trouble dealing with the war now. Why exactly would we want to make it even worse if there's a possibility we won't have to?

Frey
Iran has quite a formidable military. I don't know that there are enough Israelis to fight a ground war with them.
I am glad you are concerned about Israel being destroyed.
Like I said before, our fearless leaders can talk and talk. But, I don't see any rational, reasonable leaders in Iran right at the moment.

I don't mind "talking". What does bother me is that while we are talking, Iran continues to work on their nuclear program. And, I think that's exactly the game they will keep playing.

Talking just forestalls the inevitable. And, while we keep talking, Pres Tom (as Glenn Beck says) out of Iran keeps calling for Israel to be destroyed.
He talks out of both sides of his mouth. One for this nation, one for the UN.

Uncle Max
Thanks. You're in my will.
