Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Class warfare costs, but not the people at whom the rhetorical mortars are aimed.

The drumbeat of anger by the many at the few who travel on private planes and live in big houses is having a negative effect on those who don't.

USA Today recently carried a story about conventions that have been canceled, at least in part, due to the public's negative reaction to seeing some people having a good time while they are not. Management fears condemnation from the public, so they cancel meetings rather than risk negative media attention and public scorn.

This might make some of the enlistees in the class war feel good for the moment, but it does not improve their station in life. It is not the rich who suffer in this war. It is the middle class.

The U.S. Travel Association, according to USA Today, says meetings account for "about 15 percent of all travel spending, creating 2.4 million jobs, $240 billion in spending and $39 billion in tax revenue."

Incentive and motivational meetings generate 40 percent of the business at Marriott hotels, which reports a 12 percent decline. A spokesman blames this on the public vilification of meetings. Marriott says thousands of jobs have been lost due to reduced business. Presumably none of the newly unemployed fly on private jets or live in big houses.

When conventions don't meet, hotel rooms are unoccupied, restaurants are not patronized and wait staff do not earn tips, which figure prominently in their income. Las Vegas, alone, projects losses of $20 million this year from Fortune 500 clients who have canceled events, according to Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority CEO, Rossi Ralenkotter. Last month, State Farm Insurance canceled a convention it holds every three years to honor and reward its salespeople. As a result, 17,000 agents, and their spouses, won't be contributing to the economy (or government tax revenue).

It isn't that we don't know the outcome of the misguided policy of "soaking the rich." The last time it was tried was during the administration of George H.W. Bush. A 10 percent "luxury tax" passed Congress and was signed into law by President Bush in 1991 (he opposed its repeal in 1992). Its purpose was seen as a "way of proving that the 1980s glorification of greed and wealth were over," in the words of a 1993 Wall Street Journal story by David Wessel.

During that recession, sales of luxury cars and powerboats dropped significantly, resulting not in CEOs flying coach, but in the laying off of employees from boat and private airplane companies that build private planes and yachts. When the tax was repealed in the early days of the Clinton administration, many of those who had been laid-off were rehired as sales improved.

What was that about those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it?

The stock market reacts not to the past, but forecasts the future. With proposed income tax increases and a boost in the capital gains tax rate, the stock market has fallen at percentage rates last seen in the Great Depression. The elderly and those about to become older Americans are seeing their savings and investments built up over a lifetime wiped out. Where is the party of compassion? Can the elderly, who have increasingly voted for Democrats after being peppered with demagoguery that Republicans will end Social Security, wake up and realize that the more rich there are, the richer they become?

President Obama can cling to liberal ideology and appease the left-wing fringe of his party, or he can do like President Clinton did and reduce capital gains taxes (how about eliminating them at least for a few years?) and watch the markets respond, re-filling individual retirement accounts and rekindling hope that millions of Americans won't have to abandon their lifestyles and their independence and become dependent on government.

This isn't about politics. It is about doing what works. We know what works. The question is will the president and congressional Democrats stop worrying about the rich and start worrying about the potential for increasing the number of poorer people?

Poverty is the goal, not the problem
If you change the article's last two words, "poorer people" to "hardcore Democratic voters", the question answers itself.

Taxing the economy...
How can something, based on factual experience, results and past economic policies, be so blalantly obvious to Republicans and yet so discounted and oblivious to Democrats? Aren't facts and results {history} suppose to trump feelings, emotions and "good intentions?"

A Taxing Situation
Regardless of how you think the proscription came into being, "Thou Shalt Not Covet" speaks wonderfully to what is happening now. It is our coveting what others have that resulted in this mess and now the government is stoking the same fires that led to the debacle in the first place.

WEALTH IS NOT THE PROBLEM
IGORANCE, INCOMPOTENCY, PREJUDICE, BIAS, THE CLOSURE OF FEDERAL COURT ACCESS, CIVIL RIGHTS VIOLATIONS, THEFT BY CAPACITY, ABUSE OF AUTHORITY, MISUSE OF OFFICE, BRIBERY OF ELECTED OFFICIALS, DOMESTIC TERRORISM BY JUDICIAL PERSONNEL, THEFT OF PUBLIC SERVICES, FUDICIARY LAW VIOLATIONS, INTIMIDATION BY PUBLIC SERVANTS, THREATS BY CIVIL SERVANT UNIONS AND COERCION BY ADVOCACY GROUPS, LEGAL ADVOCATE FIRMS, AND SOCIAL WORKERS ASSOCIATION, ALONG WITH RELIGIOUS RIGHTS VIOLATIONS BY ALL.

The LIE that makes your head spin !

NOT ONCE
But TWICe

OBAMA said:::: someone files BKY every 30 seconds because of obscene health care costs:

WELL: calculate:

30 seconds x 2 x 30 minutes x 24 hrs x 365 days:

WHOA: WOW::::: at that rate EVERY family has already filed over the past 3-4 years
Because of health care costs:

yet:

65% of all workers are GOVERNMENT WORKERS with incredible health care benefits even after retirement includes teachers and police:

the poorest have medicaid
the remaining seniors ahve medicare

SO::::::::::: who are these millions and millions who file every month ? in one year ?

according to a release today:
because of housing, job loss, personal irresponsibility:
ONLY:::
Personal bankruptcy filings _ which represent the bulk of all filings _ increased 31 percent, to 1,074,225 from 822,590 in 2007, according to data released by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts.

Business filings jumped 54 percent, to 43,546 from 28,322 a year earlier.

You must have attended UCLA. No Stanford grad would be so naive. Wealth is created everyday and more often than not, it involves very little work. George Washington gave his friends thousands of acres, when he was President. The railroads received land grants and became wealthy. Farmers also where made wealthy by government manipulations. You are right when you say consumers pay the bills. Why? They don't have any business structure, which can be used to protect their earnings. This being the case for business people, their earnings accumulate, while working people leave their at the Cash Register. I could teach a trick or two about wealthy creation. But why? Don't believe everything you read. THINK! Also,if you think this economy operates without being managed, you are beyond rescue!!

Soak the rich?
Until education is moved into a region of private business we probably will never actually teach economics as it really is. Therefore, the common man will never understand how taxation actually works and who pays the bill, always and everytime. Taxes are always paid at the cash register by the end user. It makes no difference what product is involved, this is the absolute truth. Raise taxes at manufacturing - it is added to the product. Raise the taxes of the corporation - they add them to the product. Raise taxes on the business owner - he raises the price to his customer. Tax the rich - where do you think they get their money? From investments - in what? Business. Who pays taxes? Consumers!
You want to place a tax on wealth? They will move their money someplace else. Who wouldn't?
The wealth of this nation is made by a upwardly mobile society with no planning from above. As long as we maintain this freedom we will thrive. When we no longer support this concept we will all be slaves to socialism.

It breaks my heart, when I read post like yours. The mere fact, that "Fascism" exist tells me, that what you used to define Capitalism is a "Myth". An allocation of goods and services, derived from limited natural resources. Please be advised, that I am not that "Stupid". Everyday capital is managed;Who gets it and what for? The goods and services you choose, have been pre-determined. Being a "Mindless Bloat", you think you have what you want. You work all your life and at the end, it averages out to be "Minimum Wage". If you want to understand the ignorance of the average American, look at a automobile contract. It is a summary of your economic strategy or lack thereof. Tell me where the world economy is and our place within, and then we can talk! Please show me than that "Hocus Pocus" you have been taught...or just got out of a book?

Thomas...
I think you are forgetting that Chairman Obama is not wasting these money he's going to take from the rich. Instead, he will be creating millions of jobs at about $300,000 a piece. To hell with the evil corporations that only pay their employees $30,000 a year. At $300,000 those new employees will be able to spend far more than the peons controlled by the evil corporations.

Since most of these new workers will work for the Party, they will surely follow the glorious example of one of their leaders, Tim Geithner, to abandon their previous ways of dodging taxes and gladly pay their fair share.

The result will be a much higher tax receipt, which will take care of those poor souls who will be abandoned by the cruel corporations that only use their workers as pawns to achieve their evil means.

You see, in a few short years, the glorious Chairman will be able to transform America into a new society. The transformation was long predicted to be inevitable by the great Prophet Karl anyway. The Chairman is merely facilitating the will of the higher being, who, through His (oh, I mean Her, or His/Her, or whatever) high priest Jeremiah, has already condemned the U. S. of KKK A. under the evil leadership of former dictator George W. Bush.

President and Congress
"The question is will the president and congressional Democrats stop worrying about the rich and start worrying about the potential for increasing the number of poorer people?"

The answer is: NO!

You have to understand that left-wing Democrats like Obama and Pelosi don't care about the amount of wealth, only about the "fairness" of its distribution. If we were all equally poor (except for themselves), they would be happy.

Words
Capitalism is a pejorative. Trickle-down is a pejorative. It is in no one's best interest to use the language of the enemy. We are free marketers. Period. WE believe in the freedom of individuals to make the best deal they can to further their own self interest. There is no reason to make an apology for that. There never has been a reason to do that. There never will be. We believe that freedom is yoked inextricably to responsibility. We gain by our actions or we can fail by them. But they are our actions.

Did you know that wealthy people are considered in the poor category because the way the gov't measures poverty is by income earned in a given year?

Many wealthy people don't earn an income. They simply live off their existing wealth, so they are included in the poverty statistics.

Also, before you go judging people about what they do or don't care about, you might want to read a book by Arthur Brooks called 'Who really cares'. I'm in that book, along with many other conservatives.

In the '90s we had a period in which the economic disparity between rich and poor was increasing, but there was improvement among both poor and rich. That is a good thing.

In the Bush years we had a period in which the disparity grew faster because although the rich were not getting rich as fast as they did during the '90s their situation was still improving, but in real dollars the poor were losing ground, while the middle class was stagnating. That is not a good thing.

The fact that Clinton made taxes more progressive while Bush made them more regressive does not appear to be a coincidence in this context.

I took no offense to your posts. You are correct that if and when events play out so that drastic measures have to be taken to renew democracy, any success will be made a a minority of bold individuals.

Our first revolution was supported actively by less than a half of the population then. I guess they had moderates even in those days.

Our Restoration will come about only through profound means and only upon a real crisis. We waste our time hoping and praying that somehow, people of wisdom will voluntarily change the path of socialism and economic demise we are on. In no time in history has any ruling class returned power to the people.

The political class we have is the most despicable, meritless crowd of substandard persons ever to have risen to power in all times. They will destroy this country. There is no other outcome possible.

We can only hope the collapse is quick and conspicuous, enough to awaken even the American electorate.

Thirty years ago my fantasies involved twin coeds sitting on my lap in cheerleading outfits eating ice cream cones. Now my dreams are about legislators' beatend and mutilated corpses hanging upside down from lamp posts along Pennsylvania Ave, while smiling crowds pose for pictures, just like they did for Mussolini after the allies took Rome.

Lon:
Bush's tax cuts the rich paid a higher percentage of taxes than the poor is that after Bush's tax policies the wealthy got wealthier and the poor got poorer.

Me:
Wrong. Bush lowered the bottom tax bracket from 15% to 10%. That's a 33% decrease.

He lowered the top bracket from 39.6 to 33%. That's an 18% decrease.

33% is more than 18%.

Also, even if the poor were getting poorer, which is false btw, what's your point?

If the poor are getting poorer, the poor had better get busy.

I will never shut up! You can kiss my white as.! I really don't give a rat's rear end about the physics of it all. It doesn't take the paralysis of analysis to see that Obama is INTENTIONALLY DESTROYING THIS COUNTRY so he can take it over JUST LIKE HITLER DID GERMANY. Screw the terminology---and YOU!

Lon...
Recheck or offer a source please. I am sure the rich got richer, but I believe the poor got richer as well. If that is the case, would you rather equalize incomes by making everybody poorer or create greater disparity by making everybody wealthier?

I agree Kathy,
Starve the beast before it consumes us all!

texas tea party
I think if you look more closely you will find that the reason that after Bush's tax cuts the rich paid a higher percentage of taxes than the poor is that after Bush's tax policies the wealthy got wealthier and the poor got poorer. The fact that the disparity between rich and poor increased is not really good evidence that the rich were not beneficiaricies of the policy at the expense of the poor.

The power still with the people
My fellow Americans, as much as the Obama Administration is trying to bring this great Nation and her people to its knees, I say We still have the power if we are unafraid to use it.

By power I don't mean at the voting polls either. I mean we have the power of our paychecks/tax dollars.

The government cannot run without our tax dollars. Let's not give them anymore of our hard earned money. We all have the power to change our W-2's with our employers and exepmt ourselves from paying the Fed Income Tax.

Employers have the power to withhold their qtrly payments to the IRS. Corporations have that same power.

If we all stood together and said NO MORE, we could bankrupt the Fed in under a week. What are they going to do, jail millions upon millions of Americans for protesting by withholding our tax dollars? I don't think so, especially when our current prison systems are bankrupt as well

So who is ready for a Tax Revolt? Its almost April 15th.

WHAT IS PROFIT TO EARNINGS RATIO
yesterday the idiot wonder in the whitehouse said "its okay to jump back into the stock market because the PROFIT TO EARNINGS RATIO looks good". the moron is so opposed to companies making a profit, the word shows up anytime his lips move. someone please tell the idiot it is "price to earnings ratio". does anyone NOT believe he received an "affirmative action" pass out of college?

Falling on our heads...
One problem with that, liberals don't learn from their own mistakes. You may be right, that a painful lesson will work, but if they don't hurt enough, they'll just say what they've always said about communism: It just wasn't done right, they'll do it better.

Son...
Sorry, I did not make my point clearly. I do agree with you. I also believe (perhaps naively) that there are many people who will stand up just as those colonists did back in the 1700's. It is hard to say if Tories or Revolutionaries had a majority back then. But it is clear that it was a small minority of men who were willing to put it all on the line and just look at what they did. With a few good men consumed with an insatiable hunger for liberty and an abiding faith in God, there is only one of 2 possible outcomes, which are as Patrick Henry observed.

Yes, I remember MAD. I also remember Peace Through Strength, duck and hide, practice evacuations, strontium 90, and SAC airhorns calling alert pilots to the flightline where their B-47s and B-52s sat armed and ready to go nuclear.

I remember a time when America was governed by principled men who endured the Great Depression, WW II, Korea and the Berlin Airlift. Christ, even the democrat party was patriotic!

Now look at us: governed by rabid socialists and "opposed" by a party of eunuchs, geldings, punks, jellyfish, morons and cowards. We certainly must have pissed off God royally.

America: once home of the brave, now home of the slave. A nation of 300 million grass eating oxen, wearing the yoke of slavery so they can have quick burgers and chips cheap.

We need this all to fall on our heads, hard.

I'm anxious for it.

economics continued...
Do you understand what you are asking? Each of us should be able to clearly explain if we are better off than we were over some time frame and explain our expectations for the future with the caveat that nobody has an all-seeing crystal ball. To tell you where we are economically requires a bit more definition on boundaries (community? Country? World?) and some sense of time span. Are we to compare how it is California with Texas or the USA with Europe? Should we compare the period since Obama's election or coronation with the entire history of our country or with the Bush regime, or Bush's last term or the Great Depression under FDR or some other period?

You are correct that we don't have a pure free market. Tax laws, labor laws, replacing the gold backed dollar with federal reserve notes, and all manner of government regulations have interfered with the free market. It is still free, but only partially so.

Exactly what did Lori post on this thread that makes her an idiot?

killer...
An economy is made up of free agents all acting in their own best interest as they see it. That is human nature and you can't change it. When you study an economy and pronounce some sort of judgment upon it, you are really trying to measure some economic or psuedo-economic criteria like wealth and happiness. In a free market economy, we can decide to work harder or smarter, more or less, or not at all. We can decide to spend, save or invest our earnings. We can decide how much healthcare and education we want and where we want to live. With millions or more people all acting independently and, in fact, with changing priorities over time, the best we can do is measure some macroscopic parameters and make some judgments about the economy. Are people investing in things and what kinds of things. Are people working more or less hours and are they spending more or less. We can also look at things like the stability of the currency by comparing it to various commodities (frequently gold or oil). In one sentence, economics is the study of the allocation of scarce, but desirable resources.

Lori & Other "Idiots"
You cannot destroy an "Economy". Like in "Physics" where energy is never destroyed simply transferred. America has had a "Buffet Style" economy since Woodrow Wilson. You have no "Free Market System",which means Capitalism has been co-opted. When it comes to economics, people on TH have not a "Clue". In 1 paragraph or less, please tell me where we are Economically.. PLEASE!!! Or you can just "Shut Up"..

Son...
Do you remember the cold war acronym "MAD"? It stood for Mutually Assured Destruction. Government of the people, by the people, and for the people is tenuous at best. There will always be somebody stronger or more cunning who can exploit or ignore the government to personal advantage. Those "meaningless parchment protections provide" a guideline established by the founders that tell a political elitist exactly how far he may go without risking destruction. Of course, as many have noted, it implies a certain degree of morality among the people and a certain willingness to stand up and defend those protections on that venerable parchment. As a population/civilization, we are losing our way on the moral front and seem to have nearly abdicated responsibility for defending our freedoms. There is a line, however, when many people just won't stand by and take it anymore. It is dangerous for politicians to push us toward that line, even though it is no doubt appealing for them. None of us knows exactly where that line is. Maybe we will capitulate to the will of our "fearless leaders". None of us knows what will transpire when that line is crossed, but you can bet there will be lots of misery and suffering. But God as my witness, I certainly hope not.

So What?
If you are not willing to defend what you have, you have no right to it. Those who have the stonger will have every right to take it from you.

You say this is wrong, that it's mean, it's absurd? Go ahead. You deceive yourself if you believe you can pass laws and constitutions to protect you. You put yourself in peril if you believe pieces of paper will shield you from the evils of humanity. Parchment protections are meaningless.

Conservatives and productive citizens foolishly entrust in the rule of law to protect them. Meanwhile, their enemies ignore the rule of law and take steps to conquer them. Conservatives allow themselves to be intimidated and controlled by their enemies. They call Rush Limbaugh and shake their fists at the sky, but they ultimately submite because "that's the law". And they don't want to offend their enemies, thinking that will win hearts and minds.

Regardless of the current economic news, most Americans are still fat, warm, well fed and they have their big TVs to watch Oprah and football. Like pigs in slop, they are content. Our ruling shepherds have nothing to fear from them.

It will be necessary to proscribe and impoverish them before they rise up in anger and to what should be done now: terrorize the progressives and break them with raw, naked merciless violence.

But for now, the left has nothing to fear. They know this. It is why they simply smile and remain silent when confronted by the harmless ranting of conservatives, much like parents are amused when their kids threaten to run away from home because they're told to go to bed.

And then reality enters
So someone actually found a spokesman willing to say with a straight face that the reason that business conferences are down 12% is public chastising of executives and not the fact that we are in a major recession with large numbers of companies either going bankrupt or flirting with bankruptcy?

Actually the declines mentioned there are less than, say, in the automobile industry pushed by non-luxury cars. And yet oddly Thomas has opposed support for stimulus that could adress demand for non-luxury items. Apparently he thinks workers only get jobs working on luxury items.

Certainly in a vacuum it would be silly to raise any taxes or cut any spending. All of these things taken in isolation create conditions that lead to more spending and so more jobs. But such things never exist in isolation. Obama is going pretty far in the direction of running up deficits to create jobs during the recession. It is not clear, or shown by anything in the column above, that encouraging corporate retreats is a particularly useful method of doing this, though.

Civil War
There will, undoubtedly be a civil war in this country before Obama finishes his term. While he's out there flying around and eating $100 per lb beef and having a good old time, the clowns that voted for "Change & Hope" and are sitting in the unemployment lines eating jack.
The outrageous tax hikes will produce a war which he didn't anticipate. He wants class warfare and he's going to get it. Unfortunately for him, he's not as smart as he thinks. Hard working Americans are not going to sit around and put up with this nonsense.

Obama is all about ideology
Obama likes for more people to depend on the government for their livlihood. That generates more Democrat voters.

Lori & Diane
The both of you get it. What is wrong with the media and most Americans? It is all so obvious what is going on with this administration?

Lori & Diane
The both of you get it. What is wrong with the media and most Americans? It is all so obvious what is going on with this administration?

Truth about tax cuts for rich
A great example of, if you tell a lie enough times, it becomes the truth...at least in the mind of a Democrat:

Before Bush's tax cuts, the bottom quintile of income earners paid 1/2 of 1 percent of all fed. income taxes. After the tax cuts, they paid 3/10ths of 1 percent.

The top quintile paid 78.7 percent of all fed. income taxes before Bush's tax cuts. After the tax cuts, they paid 81 percent.

Obama
Well the party and the travel is on for the Obama's. The heck with the rest of us. As long as the King has a good life. He is hell bent on letting us know that what is good for him is not good for us. After all there must be a ruler and then there are the rest. The rest must pay so that the ruler has a good life. The ruler then will dole out what he decides the rest should have. I wonder what people will be thinking when they have so little money left with all of these new taxes. I truly doubt that the $13 dollars a week will cover you raised gas taxes let alone everything else that will go up. I just wonder what they will think about the weekly parties at the White House and Obama's hope and change speeches. I think a year from now the real working people will start to rebel. The slackers are always happy to take what is given to them for free. Problem is the slackers don't pay the government bills, the workers do.

white knight #10
You got it right. I think Cal is actually being a little naive if he thinks B.O. and the libs don't understand that they are destroying the economy and the country. They understand that perfectly. Once they have decimated this country Obama only need say "yes" to the pleading masses that will be begging him to "save us".....just like the Germans did with Hitler.

Cal
A person your age should know better! Here you are trying to create a "War" which can never exist. The shame of the matter is, you are proud to sound like a "Fool". If going to work, providing for your family and living a decent life is war against the "Rich", then we have been at war for a long time. Your message of recruitment is not resonating.

Knight,
I think Obamaman's conspicuous consumption is turning a few heads. It's a start.

What a bunch of hypocrites, scribes and Pharisees this country has elected!

Lefties never learn,
and they can't be taught, either, because they don't want to be. What they want is a permanent majority voting block that is totally dependent on gubmint goodies, and they're almost there.

The temporary glee the "have nots" get from taking down and taking from the "haves" will fade quickly when they figure out they are worse off than before. At least for some, but this infantile get evenism is so ingrained, it makes me fear for the Republic.

That's why it is some important that people stand up to the Chocolate Jesus. If more weepublicans followed Rush's lead and espoused the conservative principals that made up what we were, they could possibly reverse their slide into irrelevancy.

But most won't - they still haven't got the message from their own base and the real reasons for their defeats of 06 and 08.

Time to get out the torches and pitchforks. Tar and feathers are appropriate, also.

Taxes
Dear Dave,
Have you ever read any books on basic economics? From your post doesn't sound like it.I'm old enough to remember the closing of the yacht builders in my state of Wi. the trouble with this country that to many people are ecomomicly illerate and raised on class warfare and envy.

If Liberal still don't get it
Perhaps it's a little late even for the Republicans to get it. Therefore we need to create that third party for Conservatives.
The Constitution Party.

Who said going through recessions was supposed to be easy? The media will tell you how bad life really is and forget to tell you that it's gonna be hard and some will hurt more than others.
You think you've got it hard? Go live in Zimbabwe, South Africa, or India or Europe for that matter. Then come back and tell me how Bush has ruined the last eight years of your life and how Obama was supposed to be the messiah.

Go ahead. I'd dare you. If you have a complaint, then I'll buy you a friggin' plain ticket back to the land of Liberal Utopia. Let me know how it's working for you and if "suffering" still means the same thing...

Control
It is all about control of the people. Taxes and nationalization are just tools to accomplish this. It is not about a robust economy of life, it is again about total control of the people. We are not suppose to have a good time for we are just the common man. Our leaders will be enjoying the good times you can bet on it.

Liberals still don't get it.
Yes the recession is overall reducing income to the entertainment sector. But the punishing rhetoric of involving entertainment in the course of business meetings slams the entertainment and travel businesses even more. Well, frankly, these are the people that voted for Mr. Obama. Nevada - you had your chance! Now you are being punished extra by Obama because government managers of the new nationalized industries now insist on puritanical expense accounts.

Anybody Remember O'Day Yachts?
Great article! I would like to add that although repealing the luxury tax did improve sales of high ticket items and allowed many to return to jobs producing such items, some of the damage was permanent. As sailors, my husband and I are all too familiar with the fact that some of the finest American yacht builders who had employed people and contributed to our country's economy for hundreds of year were actually driven out of business never to return by that fatally flawed strategy. The owners of these businesses probably took their money and retired to enjoy it...their hundreds of thousands of employees were certainly not so lucky!

Comedy At It's Best
This guy should be on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. This is funny stuff, man. Imagine: sales of luxury vehicles decline. Meetings and conventions decline. And Cal expects us to believe that it's not the recession that causes it but class warfare.

This has got to be up there among the top ten dumbest columns about economis that have ever been written.

TRICKLE DOWN AND TRICKLE UP
It's not 'trickle down' economics anymore, where the wealth in our Country used to 'trickle down' enough and allow the middle-class to survive in an economy only the wealthy could afford. Now, it's both the 'trickle down' AND the 'trickle up' of Socialism. This gives our liberal left government the power to control not only the bottom and the top but the middle-class who are the people who have made our Country the Greatest Nation on Earth.
Kiss America Goodbye, for that's the 'Change' the liberal left voted for and elected.

Liberals Just Want to Feel Good About...
... Themselves.

Therefore they subscribe to all sorts of irrational beliefs and failed policies. Their ideas and subsequent actions are in fact, largely based on fallacious premises that ignore human nature and/or reality, and thus are filled with all sorts of unintended consequences, but because they want to feel good about themselves they never accept responsibility, even when their deeds are extremely destructive. The truth is leftist policies tend to destroy people's lives as well as their livelihood. It's high time we conservatives stood up and called them on it.

Here's a great open letter to Micheal Steele & Eric Cantor that shows how Republicans ought to stand up to the liberal media:

BLOOD IN THE STREETS

America did not risk nuclear annihilation in its struggle with the USSR, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, so that we could become a socialist state. This is not our destiny. It is not the American way. And it won’t happen here. For our way is individual liberty not economic oppression, tyrannical taxation and collectivization as represented by the 44th President and the 111th Congress. In trying to drag the American people kicking and screaming into the socialist future Barack Obama and the radical Left are going to create a populist backlash and destroy themselves. This is why Obama is President. This is why Pelosi and Reid control Congress. This is the last hurrah of the counter culture sixties, its final day in the sun before it expires and disappears from history.

liberals don't
understand "trickle down economics" so it's reasonable to believe they don't understand trickle down taxes.

The Lessons Of Trickle Down Economics
are obvious to some of us but it is necessary for many to learn the hard way.

Tax, tax, tax
When Democrats resist tax hikes, you know Obama's a Socialist bordering on Marxist.
