Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

No one ever accused Patrick J. Buchanan of lacking conviction or of consulting a focus group before saying what he thinks.

In his new book, "Day of Reckoning," the former presidential candidate, columnist and TV pundit confronts readers with many irrefutable facts that if left unaddressed, he believes, will lead to America's destruction.

That may sound extreme, even apocalyptic, until one considers his assertions: "The Army is breaking and is too small to meet America's global commitments; the dollar has sunk to historic lows and is being abandoned by foreign governments"; and perhaps most controversial of all - "the greatest invasion in history, from the Third World, is swamping the ethno-cultural core of the country, leading to Balkanization and the loss of the Southwest to Mexico."

There's plenty more, but to this last point first. No nation can survive without passing its heritage, language and, yes, faith to the next generation. A country must be built on something substantial and if the cultural elitists think it can be built on "diversity," that is a foundation of shifting sand.

We have moved beyond importing foreigners to mow our yards and build our homes. The political parties are now importing votes, cynically signing up new "Americans" as rapidly as possible before the next election. Let the devil take tomorrow and even the country; help me make it through my election, or re-election.

Consider Montgomery County, Md., a wealthy and heavily Democratic Washington, D.C. suburb. The Washington Examiner reports that large numbers of high-income people are migrating out of the county because of what they regard as a declining quality of life. The net population is growing, but the growth is made up mostly of immigrants who do not make the kind of money (and thus will not pay as much in taxes) as those who are leaving. Foreign-born residents now account for nearly one-third of the county's population.

According to the Examiner, "nearly one in four students in the public school system are now receiving free or reduced-price meals, the largest fraction since 1990."

"At least four Washington-area charities have established Montgomery County offices since 2003, citing a growing need among the area's residents."

County officials say they are increasingly receiving complaints about overcrowded homes, a common story in many counties where there are large numbers of illegal aliens.

As the wealthy residents leave, the strain on the tax base increases and the character of the county will inevitably change. Political correctness constrains school districts from teaching a common language and a common American history. That, too, can quickly decimate a nation.

Now back to Pat Buchanan, who writes that, "the culture is collapsing and the nation is being deconstructed along the lines of race and class a fiscal crisis looms as the unfunded mandates of Social Security and Medicare remain unaddressed and all of these crises are hitting America at once."

One need not agree on all of Buchanan's positions (and I do not, especially on matters pertaining to Iraq and the war against terrorists - he wants to close most of the 1,000 American bases overseas, review all alliances and bring U.S troops home, which is a form of isolationism we cannot afford in an interdependent world), but it is undeniable that many of the issues he raises - and even some of those associated with Iraq - are legitimate and deserving of discussion and debate by the presidential candidates of both parties. The public has not signed off on any of these changes. Rather, they are being imposed on us by the elites. That's what dictators do, not constitutional republics.

Buchanan also writes something that is obvious to most people, but not to the politicians who want the votes of illegals cum citizens. To avoid what he calls "a tangle of squabbling nationalities," Buchanan urges: no amnesty for the 12 to 20 million illegal aliens; a border fence from San Diego to Brownsville; congressional declarations that children born to illegal aliens are not citizens and English is the language of the United States; and a "timeout" on all immigration.

Those who have dismissed Buchanan in the past as a gadfly might consider what he says in his book. The future of what's left of the country could very well rest on it.

Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement

We need Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement, not reform. We need to restore respect for the law and the faith of the American people that their government is not selling them out. Amnesty for the illegal aliens is also amnesty for the corrupt companies who have been employing them. Money trumps everything, including love of country. Multi-nationals have no loyalty to country by definition, they see us as a market, not a nation. They see people as workers, documented or undocumented, no difference. If they can't send the work to where the labor is cheaper, then they want to bring the cheap labor here. If citizenship becomes meaningless, this is no longer The United States of America.

If we love our Constitution and our representative Republic and we intend to keep it we must not surrender our sovereignty or abandon the rule of law. Profits must not supercede security. We should not create a new path to citizenship. We have a path to citizenship, more generous than any other country, illegal aliens have ignored it and bad choices do have consequences.

No Amnesty Candidates

No Rudy, No McCain, No Huckabee

Romney and Thompson are saying the right things now, but haven't always. Hunter and Tancredo have been working on this for years on our behalf. Longer than most of you have been alarmed about it, they have been trying to sound the alarm. Choose carefully in the primaries, your future depends on it.

America's Future

In 2008 we must make the candidates address border security and immigration enforcement.
20-30 million citizens of other countries are in our country illegally, 55% from Mexico, most of the rest from other Central and South American countries. Let's not ignore the leftward voting trends of these countries. It is notable that they picked May Day, an old communist day of celebration for their marches.

Most polls show at least half of the American citizens of Hispanic descent want the borders and laws enforced. Republicans will not win by alienating their current voters to get 40% of a new small block that will grow very large, very fast if amnesty is granted. That will grow the Democrats vote larger and faster as the influx increases exponentially as the result of another amnesty. It will spell the end of the Republican Party. The people who used to vote Republican will stop voting or form a new party. Conservatives will lose political influence and we will slide inexorably towards socialism (it has already started).

Most of what you hear about this issue is political propaganda that tries to convince you to give up your country without a fight, including on Fox News. The big money players are all on board the cheap labor express, they don't care that American citizens do not want another amnesty. We know the last one resulted in 10 times the number of illegal aliens and a general disregard of our laws. The next one will be equally successful.

Exactly right
and if we take NO ACTION soon - Illegals and their offspring will be in the majority by about 2050 or sooner. They hold NO alligance to the USA but to foreign governments.

Part of the reason for the 'takeover' will be the much higher birthrate of illegals vs citizens. After decades of low birthrate due to the pill, abortion and iuds to "save the planet" - we will end up losing America to aliens who follow no such rules.

So, we saved the planet for whom? NOT for our children - someone else's.

should we be concerned?
Some vacuously posit that the angst about ILLEGALS is simply the current iteration of prior resentment toward aliens which vanished after they were absorbed, but this is artful dodging. As Pat B. points out, an ocean separated prior immigrants from home countries, and they came here to BECOME Americans. We could absorb and assimilate the poor because our economy was much simpler.

Today's Hispanic ILLEGALS have a different mindset entirely, their home countries are close so the umbilical cord is not cut, and today's advanced service economy really needs the educated and skilled. These Hispanics are clinging tenaciously to their culture and language, and the PC ilk is trying to help them do so. We are called xenophobes, demagogues and demonizers for pointing out these major differences from the past, and the straw man challenge that we cannot deport 12 million is used to justify "regularization" (see Rudy and Huckster). But about 3/4 of us are waking up to the disingenuous drivel, and familiarity with the pernicious concomitant social pathologies breeds contempt and righteous indignation. WHY they COME IS IRRELEVANT-- ILLEGAL IS ILLEGAL. Now, what do we do?

solutions to our ILLEGAL plague
First, body slam the pols who cater to them... there are signs that this is happening. Second, insist that EXISTING laws be enforced: build the wall, crack down on employers, and stop the freebies, including tuition. No jobs, no freebies --> NO STAY! Require proof of citizenship to function-- WE prove who we are CONSTANTLY for employment, travel, etc. Expired visas will not cut it! The possible threat of terrorism is yet another reason to require proof of a right to be visiting America.

No papers? Then NO job, NO apt., NO drivers licenses, NO social services. As Az. has done, kill bilingual education-- learn or return! Revamp LEGAL immigration to emphasize education and skill sets-- just as other countries do. NO PATHS TO CITIZENSHIP-- PERIOD! Let them go back and start from scratch-- most would not qualify to return! Reinterpret the 14th as intended; just as children of diplomats born here are not citizens, ILLEGAL madres should not be able to push out excuses for family welfare. A nation which loses its borders and sovereignty ceases to be a nation; America is too special to lose to an invasion of the willfully culturally disparate and ignorant indigent. We CANNOT be the welfare state for Latin America's socio-economic failures and plutocratic governments.

It seems unimpeachable...
...that the nation is Balkanizing internally on the basis of behavioral class. Illegal immigrants are a significant component of the problem, but they're not the whole of it.

Not surprisingly, the virtues that correlate with economic success also correlate negatively with lawless, low-class behavior and the venues in which it predominates. So it's fairly easy for the political Left to claim that what we're seeing is wealth-driven snobbery or (gasp!) racism. But what no one can disguise is that, in those areas being abandoned by persons with bourgeois values and respect for the law, life has become a chancy affair. Indeed, Thomas Hobbes would have recognized it: nasty, brutal, and short. Which is what you get when respect for the law, personal responsibility, and concern for the consequences of one's actions are sufficiently undermined.

Home prices tumbled in 3rd quarter
Is this the end of the road for BUSH DEBT ECONOMICS?

MSNBC-Standard & Poor’s: Decline was biggest since index started in 1987

U.S. home prices fell 4.5 percent in the third quarter from a year earlier, the sharpest drop since Standard & Poor’s began its nationwide housing index in 1987 and another sign that the housing slump is far from over, the research group said Tuesday.

The index also showed that prices fell 1.7 percent from the previous three-month period, the largest quarter-to-quarter decline in the index’s history.

The S&P/Case-Schiller quarterly index tracks prices of existing single-family homes across the nation compared with a year earlier.

The Attrition Solution
Presidente Jorge has no intention of really cracking down on ILLEGALS or their miscreant employers; he is simply playing a shell game to get "C.I.R."-- scamnesty. We COULD READILY make most ILLEGALS leave via attritive repatriation, provided that our pols are made to realize that > 70% of Americans CLEARLY want them to leave and get in line properly.

Another myth is that we "need" ILLEGAL aliens to do our unpleasant, menial jobs. An advanced economy like today's America with a lower birth rate does need educated, skilled immigrants, but these are rarely among the border crashers. ILLEGALS will become SUBSTANTIAL net users and drains on society per Heritage and other careful analyses.

The key to reversing this egregious, pernicious tsunami is CLEARLY demonstrating to ILLEGALS that we intend to enforce EXISTING laws--> NO licenses, NO jobs, NO welfare, NO social services, NO college tuition, NO passing go, UNLESS you can prove that you have a LEGAL right to be visiting. We also need to crack down on
expired visas, which account for an estimated 20% of ILLEGALS.

Then border crashers and visa violators would return at THEIR expense-- the VERY same way they got here. BUT miscreant pols must first be made to reverse the message they are sending which has been aiding and abetting the ILLEGAL invasion, and some need to be turned out of office for flaunting the clear will of middle America. The power and $ are on the other side with the cheap labor lobby and limited interest groups.

Presidente Jorge Bush, Sanctuary City "Regularization Rudy," and other RINOS like Huckster wink at ILLEGALS after they pretend to favor sealing the border and effecting enforcement. If we let the left and RINOS make voters of the 20 million uneducated, culturally disparate ILLEGALS, it is OVER for America-- we will ineluctably rapidly and permanently morph into a third world entitlement state.

Buchanan vs the world
I agree with Pat on the immigration issue 100%. When immigrants came here in the past they didn't line up for taxpayer funded handouts but came here to build a life. The flood of 3rd worlders come here to be taken care of. And worst is the phalanx of lawyers who meet them at the border and make it easy. Up to now the average American has not had to deal with these people on a daily basis nor feel the reprecussions of illegal immigration. Like in Montgomery County they just moved. Those days are coming to an end. Once John and Jane Doe see their standard of living suffer then they will demand something be done. I see PB's book as a call to action not a forgone conclusion.
I Am John Doe and will not be cowed into surrender. Immigration will be an issue in the 08 election.

RoadKill
You got it!! I am Jane Doe and I surrender! Ya gotta kill me in order for that to happen.

Immigration, Economy, will dominate.
Immigration WILL be the defining issue in the elections next November.

I don't think the politicans of either party understand the depth of emotion among the American people on this issue.

I also think the economy will be a major issue in the 2008 election.

There is great apprehension, bordering on fear, among Americans regarding the economic outlook of not only their personal financial situation, but that of the nation also.

In addition to the above two critical issues in next November's election, I think it also should include a referendum on a "do-gooder" foreign policy that is costing Americans billions and billions of dollars, as the president embroils our military as tools in half-baked social/political experiments in Iraq designed to see if democracy can take hold there.

While I don't think the "do-gooder" foreign policy will be as important as immigration and the economy to most Americans, it should be.

Polls indicate an extremely high amount of unhappiness among Americans on whether our nation is on the "right track", or the "wrong track". Most Americans think we are on the wrong track.

This election WILL be about change.

"No nation can survive without passing its heritage, language, and yes, even faith, onto the next generation".

I could not agree more with that quotation.

jerabaub
"Immigration WILL be the defining issue in the elections next November."

I agree that it SHOULD be the defining issue, but what if our nominee is Giuliani or McCain and to a lesser degree Huckabee? Their positions and history on the matter are virtually identical to Herr Hitlary and the rest of the Democratic field. How can an issue be defining when the party nominees are in virtual agreement on that issue?

This is an issue that the Republicans can run on and win, IF and only IF we have a candidate that can credibly voice the positions and concerns of the American citizenry. Republicans virtually throw away the ONE issue that could potentially enable a victory in an otherwise problematic election year if they choose the wrong nominee.

67-100 million more
Remember that secure border or not, Congress is planning to immigrate legally, 67 to 100 million people here to replace the 78 million boomers that are going to start retiring, one every 10 seconds, in January.

The have decided they need to keep the worker retiree ratio at 3 to 1 for social security and payroll tax revenues that fund social security.

That means 1/3 more roads, schools, hospitals, prisons, government service offices and service, roads, cars, etc. impacting our infrastructure.

We already are having water problems in some areas of the nation's more populated areas and that is where most of the next 100 million will live.

However, without complete reform of our government, entitlements, tax and compliance system, spending, etc. we can't have a stable population because we depend on tax revenue growth to fund all the spending with COLA increases built in. Not that they actually keep up with real inflation but neither do wages.

A Little Good News
An unadulterated example of the power of this issue...

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-greele y27nov27,0,3988828.story?coll=la-home-nation

Are you listening GOP?

Buchanan
in my view has always seemed like a bit of a hysteric but one who is right on a lot of the issues. Consider how he was ahead of the curve in writing about the muslim immigration into Europe and what it would do to their contries and culture, Most of what he predicted has come true. What I have read about this latest book has led me to see a lot of truth. Let us take back our country from the multiculturist, diversity left. Secure our borders and lets not reward illegals. Huckabees response to his fighting for special scholarships for children of illegals in Arkansaw by calling them "God's children also." is simply not acceptable.

Sammy
Thanks for the link, did you notice the slant of the story? Good news for our side, but the writer is obviously not.

Suprise suprise,
the elites want more votes and the country be damned! You have to ask how much longer 'we the people' are going to sit back and allow the two parties to continue to pull the biggest scam ever on an entire nation. The DEM/GOP/MSM propaganda machines are working full time to promote the old lie technique, the one where if a lie is told often enough it becomes accepted as true.

The lie is that only "they" have the wisdom, knowledge, and experience to govern. Therefore, we must once again vote the lesser of two evils because we have no other choice, nowhere else to go. This false premise has allowed the two majors to keep power in their hands. This virtual lock on power has only contributed to partisanship replacing leadership, and perpetuated the old liberal/conservative mindset that has hardened into an ineffective, out of control, elite driven congress.

It is time the American people wake up to the facts. We cannot afford another elite President from either party. To elect one of these hypocrites will only further their belief in their own invulnerability and will give our children a future of more big govt., declining personal freedoms, and more influence to the internationalists who inhabit both parties.

If you are concerned about the offerings we will be given for 2008, and if you want to see how the elites built up this hold on power and how we can reverse it for the benefit of the country, I urge you to visist my website, JOEOLIVAFORPRESIDENT.ORG. Why not check it out? The elites have already stolen our inheritance! Do we want to reclaim it or allow them to continue to do as they please? It is up to us. Thanks, Joe

Virgina Patriot
This is the LA Times after all. They can dress up the pig all they want but it is still a pig. Even through all of the liberal slant it is easy to see where the American people stand.

What I really like about this story is that this election is probably as close to a one issue open borders vs. shut-the-borders referendum as can ever be sighted. I mean for christ sakes a school security guard on the right side of the issue defeated a long standing businessman of the community and 2 term incumbent mayor -- that's like the Dolphins beating the Patriots this year.

The distinction...
...between Buchanan and Paul. Buchanan is an isolationist. Paul is a non-interventionist.

The difference is important. I appreciate Buchanan's support, however tepid, for Paul's candidacy. But it is critical the Paul is not tainted with Buchanan's isolationist pronouncements.

bad proof reading
should be "that" Paul, not "the" Paul. Sorry.

myths about Regularization Rudy
Rudy is a ticking time bomb; scandal and innuendo go with him like toast and jelly. You can bank on Shrillary having stored up some dirt-- it is Clintonesque. And for those who imagine that he will give us security, my God, Sanctuary City Rudy?!?! The FBI KNOWS that potential militant Islamics have waltzed across the Mexican border because of RINO, open borders, globalist Presidente Jorge. Regularization Rudy is JUST like Jorge-- been there, done that! Once burned, shame on them! And who presumes that only Rudy could beat the Wicked Witch? The MSM keeps pitching that, but polls are indefinite at best.

If the Clintons keep lying and planting questions, she has no chance. Watch ILLEGALS keep growing in import among the voters-- independents, who decide elections, now rank it THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE, and NOBODY but LULAC wants a path to citizenship. Bill Bennett and others say it is spreading like a wildfire. That alone sinks the boats of Rudy, phony preacher Huckster, and Shrillary on close inspection. It will be a wedge issue all right, but 74% are on Middle America's side of the wedge.

Come Lord Jesus Come
O ye of little faith

I'm 100% with Buchanan
Buchanan is giving us plenty of warning. We should heed him. If we don't stop this illegal immigration now,and anchor baby business it's all over.

I am so disgusted and discouraged over the behavior of our leaders. My vote goes to the guy who stops this destruction of America. Nothing, taxes, wars, environment, nothing matters after the country is gone and we're living with herds of third world swine.

Is it possible
to simultaneously be a global power and an isolationist? Can the US protect its vast interest around the globe by withdrawing from all non-US soils?

Or, if the US withdrew completely from all Muslim lands, is it realistic to believe that Islamo-terrorists would completely stop any and all attacks against US people, property and US allies?

"Day of Reckoning,"
Tom Millican, independent candidate for the 2008 presidency is the only candidate that is fully aware of these problems. View his stance and issues at http://www.tommillican.com.

Immigration Solutions
1. General, This is your new President. Take as many troops and equipment as you need and close the southern border of this country. You have 30 days to mobilize and get it done.

2. Issue an order of general amnesty for all illegal aliens. They have 60 days to vacate the country and each will receive a thousand dollar bill and be fingerprinted as he leaves. After 60 days, US Marshalls and deputized military personnel will arrest and prosecute all illegals under current law. Anyone who re-enters, as proven by his prints, gets 10 years of hard time.

3. Issue an order temporarily barring the sending of US dollars to Mexico by individuals, making it impossible for an illegal to send money to his family at home.

In agreement
I completely agree with all those who want to immediatly close the southern border, put thousands of armed troops there and kick out all illegal aliens and fine the companies that hire them millions of dollars. All the apologists for illegals need to pay for all the expenses that the illegals impose on us tax payers.
The only candidates I see worthy of nomination are Hunter, Tancredo and possibly Lou Dobbs.
In closing the Northern border and all ports must be totally secured also.

Demosthenes, Cassandra and Buchanan,
The end of a republic usually ends in a dark ages of waring states or a tyranny of an empire. We have a complicit political system in which the idea of a republic, governed on Constitutional principles is considered obsolete. We have the Aaron Burrs who want a North/South American union ruled by an aristocracy of plutocrats. This explains the NAFTA-CAFTA supporters. WE have the Socialist Internation party that wants a supra government ruled by the politically correct bureaucrats, much like the UN or the European Union. Then of course there are the Suileman the Magnificents who wish a one-world Islamic Uma and we have those who would make us a client state of Beijing. Our Congress resembles the British Parliament who were so willing to have William and Mary and Later King George of Hanover come and rule their sovereign nation. We have had Tories in the past who wanted The House of Lords and the Hanoverian dynasty to rule America. We have had the followers of Genet , who wanted Jacobin rule by the French Directory to determine America's policies. WE have had German Bundt supporters and we still have the Socialist Internationale crowd who envision a radical one-world socialist tyranny as the answer. Like Benedict Arnold, each and every one of these advocates envisioned some reward from abroad, some patent of nobility , some form of feudal entitlement that recognized their right to rule the serfs in their own country.

Easy solution to immigrant problem

Here's how we solve the immigrant problem very quickly. First, round up all the illegals from everywhere; second, assign them to various construction groups; third, rebuild our decaying infrastructure with drafted labor from south of the border. Supply housing in tent cities, feed them the best homegrown organic food, give them good alternative medical care and don't let them go back to wherever they came from until they're too old to work--then send them back.

I am fairly certain such a program would dry up the immigrant flow in a NY second and meet many of our pressing local and national needs simultaneously.

We had no moral problem with drafting (enslaving) our young men for military service in years past (myself included); why not conscript scofflaw immigrants for the better part of a lifetime spent rebuilding our roads and bridges, etc.? They came here illegally for work, so, let’s give it to them along with excellent health in the bargain.
