Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

There are good lies and there are bad lies, and not just on a golf course. Good lies are those that make me laugh. For instance, the NBA recently held its pre-draft camp in Orlando, Florida, and they discovered that the one thing these college prospects had in common, aside of course from a reluctance to play defense, was that a large number of them have been lying about their height. Memphis center Joey Dorsey, Memphis guard Derrick Rose and Duke guard DeMarcus Nelson, weren’t really 6-9, 6-4 and 6-4, as advertised, but were 6-6, 6-1 and 6-1, respectively. UCLA’s Kevin Love wasn’t 6-10, but actually a tad under 6-8. Kansas State’s Michael Beasley was 6-7, not 6-10, and USC’s Davon Jefferson was a full three inches shy of 6-8. Not only wasn’t Tennessee Martin’s Lester Hudson not 6-3, he wasn’t even a six-footer.

All of this is very peculiar for a couple of reasons. One, I find the notion that guys who have to stoop down to clear doorways feel compelled to lie about their height pretty darn amusing. Two, what’s the point? Psychological warfare? If I’m, say, 6-10 and my opponent claims to be my size, but is only 6-7, am I supposed to start wondering if maybe I’m really 7-1? Frankly, I don’t see how that will throw off my game in the least.

But when it comes to lying about things that really matter, you can’t beat those on the left. Back in the bad old days of Joseph Stalin, the Soviet Union built what were called Potemkin Villages. These were show places designed to convince gullible American tourists that the Soviet Union was the workers’ paradise they claimed it to be. But Stalin had a lot of help dispensing his propaganda. He had the New York Times man in Moscow, Walter Duranty, to carry his water. Or in Stalin’s case, make that blood. Even though Duranty knew that Stalin intentionally murdered millions of Ukrainians, starving them to death, he kept quiet about it, instead filing glowing reports about Stalin’s five year economic plans, going so far as to report that Stalin had become a truly great statesman.

My understanding of it is that Duranty wasn’t even a Communist parroting the party line, but simply a reporter who lied because he enjoyed the money he was paid by the Times, the perks that Stalin provided to his favorite parrot and his status as the most famous journalist in the world, all of which would have been lost to him if he had reported the truth about Stalin’s butchery. What’s more, he won a Pulitzer Prize for his despicable lies.

Lest you think that sort of thing couldn’t happen today, I’ll remind you that in order to keep its Baghdad bureau open, CNN never uttered a negative word about Saddam Hussein’s regime. At least in Duranty’s case, the explanation for his moral and journalistic lapses were greed and glory. But what does a so-called news organization gain from having a bureau for 25 years if it hasn’t the slightest intention of reporting the news?

The fact that those on the left lie isn’t so surprising. What boggles the mind is how badly they do it. In the recent past, Jack Kelley of USA Today was caught fabricating stories, as was Stephen Glass of the New Republic, as was Jayson Blair of the New York Times. Janet Cooke cooked up a story about an eight-year-old heroin addict for the Washington Post, and, like Mr. Duranty, won a Pulitzer Prize for her fictional concoction. But at least the Post, unlike the New York Times, had the good grace to return the Prize once the truth leaked out.

Let us not forget CBS’s Dan Rather, who allowed his hatred of George Bush to blind him to the fact that he was going to the mat in defense of obviously forged documents, and that not too long ago, the New Republic, even after the Stephen Glass affair, was so eager to attack the war in Iraq they ran a series of foul and outrageous lies slandering our troops by one Scott Thomas Beauchamp.

The major difference between Burger King and liberals is that liberals don’t offer fries with their whoppers.

The thing about those on the left that I, personally, find so infuriating isn’t just that they lie, but that they’re such hypocrites that they never call one another out. For instance, Al Gore and his Hollywood disciples are constantly exchanging the environmental equivalent of high-fives, and no liberal ever mentions the inconvenient truth that all of these people reside in mansions the size of hotels and fly all over the planet in private jets. Talk about carbon footprints! Dinosaurs didn’t have feet this big or this dirty.

Speaking of movie stars, they all pretend to be populists, just worried sick about the plight of blue collar Americans. Of course they’ll open their homes to raise campaign funds for any huckster with a (D) after his or her name, but have you ever heard about their offering, let us say, a million dollars of their $25 million-a-movie salary to be divided among the crew? The more generous ones pass out wristwatches or autographed photos of themselves at the wrap party, imagining that the various gaffers, gofers and stuntmen, will forever after mention them in their evening prayers.

For that matter, have you ever heard of a Commie college professor, many of whom pull down well over $100,000-a-year, sharing any of his salary with the custodial staff or their own over-worked, under-paid, teaching assistants? No, neither have I.

Talk is cheap, but not nearly as cheap as those lying lefties.

I know I'm two days late on this thread but I had to post hoping someone would read it. nmi, have you ever bothered to read the PDB itself? I already no the answer is no. If you had you would know there was no way for anyone to know bin Laden was going to have planes hijacked and flown into buildings. You guys with the BDS are out of this world! Miss Cleo couldn't have predicted 9/11. And to paraphrase Ann Coulter "You libs squawk about GWB not doing things before 9/11 you wouldn't even allow after 9/11. I've got a clue for libdolts - the Prez can't do anything he wants anytime he wants. It's President ush not King George. You all prove Burt's point. You guys simply do not deal in the truth. You either are dealing in half truths or non-truths all day every day. Morons.

The Truth is Good
I think people are humanists because there is something lacking in them.
The ability to tell right from wrong and truth from lies eludes them.
Argue logically and factually all day long and they will still say something like, "It isn't fair that some people have more money than other people."
Why does how much junk a person owns consume them? It reminds me of a two year olds jealousy.
Lie to get what you want. Where is the honor? Where is the integrity? Obama lies several times a week and no one seems to notice.
Bush gets called a liar simply because they don't like him and he won.
Without Truth there is no civilization. Everything is based on Truth. The Truth is Good.

How Unambiguous Can It Get?

CKHUSTLER writes :"(Pres. Bush's comment of) "historical in nature" would be referring to the amount of threats the US gets yearly.

Quoting from page 260 of the 9/11 Commission Report: "The President told us THE AUGUST 6 REPORT was historical in nature."

To repeat: The previous paragraphs on page 260 of the 9/11 Report show clearly that Pres. Bush himself had directed the CIA to advise him whether the threats pointed to an attack upon the United States. And the CIA analysts advised the President in the Aug. 6, 2001 PDB that "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S. was "CURRENT AND SERIOUS." How could that be interpreted as "historical in nature"?

Furthermore, on page 260, it is made crystal clear that prior to 9/11 Pres. Bush was well aware of the danger al Qaeda posed to the U.S., and that bin Laden "desired to attack America." So then why did Pres. Bush, according to Conservative columnist James Pinkerton, after the 8/6/01 CIA's "current and serious" report, then "do litle or nothing" about the "blunt warning"?

As a matter of fact, Pinkerton, who is currently a Fox News analyst, in his April 9, 2004 Newsday column went on to state: "Plenty of people in Washington had their 'hair on fire' about the terror threat in the summer of 2001. But not Bush, apparently. On Aug. 4, he went off on a working vacation to his ranch in Texas. ... "

johninoregon
Where do you search on the internet? Huffington Post or Dailykos,or better still moveon.org. They are truthful?

I doubt you can find one 'lie' they have told. You may percieve it to be a lie,but it is not. Unless,of course, you can name one.

King Goofball
I guess the rest were going to feel sorry for you, but not me. It's OIL that's 146.00 a barrel not GAS! You sure show the intellegence of the average Libber!!! Of course you could be above average too!!

Great column Burt, as usual. You're still there!!!

Pinocchio-in-Chief
A five-minute search of the Internet will uncover hundreds of lies by Bush and members of his administration. Now what was that point you were trying to make, Burt?

nmi
typical....bush is stupid, but somehow duped the US into war...can't have it both ways bud.

I think you should research how many threats the US gets a year. His "historical in nature" would be referring to the amount of threats the US gets yearly. I suppose though, as a good little liberal you ignored researching anything and would like to use bumper sticker slogans to get your point across. Typical...its ok, we forgive you for being an idiot.

Medicare and NCLB
For those of you out there who scream about the medicare and No Child Left Behind "boondogles," when are we going to hear the democrats call for a repeal of prescription drugs for medicare recipients since it is such an expensive "boondogle?" Are we going to leave some children in the dust by ending the NCLB program? Let the democrats tell us how they are going to pare down the out-of-control budget that broke the bank during the Bush Administration. Which programs are going to be cut and when? Oh, I forgot, we are just going to tax the rich, put windfall profits on Big Oil, increase capital gains and on and on. That will solve all of our budget problems.Oh yeah and we can end the war in Iraq because if we do we won't have any further military expenses. Got it now.

when whoppers are flyig

You know, Pals;

Saddam Hussein was good at lies with a straight face. Almost as good as Reid, Pelosi,

the MS; et al. Was Saddam a leftie? He promised W he would have the mother of all battles waiting for our troops. It was not exactly an untruth. A mother for his side. Bush shouldn't have believed him?

Oh; another whopper from the Left:

We were in Iraq to get oil. When do we start stealing some? After all; weren't we in a quagmire? That was the Left's conventional wisdom.

What about the Plame game? Just a lie; as well as the "frog-march" we'd see; Rove upon his arrest. Hate to say this; they lied. They keep on lying, too.

A SIGNIFICANT LIARS' LIST OMISSION

BURT PRELUTSKY writes: "The thing about those on the left that I, personally, find so infuriating isn’t just that they lie, but that they’re such hypocrites that they never call one another out."

Seems very strange that truth-seeking Burt Prelutsky omitted from his list of offenders George W. Bush, whose bold-faced lie to the 9/11 Commission was nothing to laugh about.

On page 260 of the 9/11 Commission Report, Pres. Bush, apparently tryng to explain why he failed to respond to the warning of terrorist attack contained in the Aug. 6, 2000 President's Daily Brief, Mr. Bush is quoted as saying the Aug. 6 report was "historical in nature."

Which is a blatant, monumental lie. On the same page, the report states that Pres. Bush himself, aware of the mounting intelligence relating to terrorist threats, had directed the CIA to inform him whether any of the threats pointed to an attack upon the United States.

In the Aug. 6, 2001 PDB, the 9/11 Report states that two CIA analysts informed the President that "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S." was 'CURRENT AND SERIOUS."

How, then, could Pres. Bush, a graduate of Yale with an MBA from
Harvard, regard "as historical in nature" that clearly stated "Current and Serious" warning of imminent terrorist attack?

And how could Burt Prelutsky - and the members of the 9/11 Commission -- overlook that self-serving CYA lie?

YES, LET'S TALK ABOUT LIARS &HYPOCRITES

BURT PRELUTSKY writes: "The thing about those on the left that I, personally, find so infuriating isn’t just that they lie, but that they’re such hypocrites that they never call one another out."

Anne: 8:20 AM EST writes:
“Okay, so this is what I think is sooo hysterically funny...

The dumbos claim that "Pres. Bush duped the planet (including the well-meaning dems) into going to war?"

YET, they also claim that Pres. Bush is stupid.

So, my question is, JUST HOW STUPID does one (or a whole group of people) have to be in order to be duped by someone who is stupid???”

Concur. Stupid is as stupid does.

Please carefully reread post # 8 (it is a reply to Royinoslo # 7). My comments are in the context of this reply. My quote, "Pres. Bush duped the planet (including the well-meaning dems) into going to war?" is indented as sarcasm.

Perhaps my literally skills are lacking.

Great article, Burt Prelutsky!

Reading this was better than watching those old Dean Martin Roasts when we were young. We were treated back then to seeing guests screwed, blued & tattooed before a huge audience; and he/she would bust out laughing at his/her own dismemberment.
\
Burt Prelutsky is better than Don Rickles or Foster Brooks. Because he dismembers our country's worst enemies, the dirty bastreds. Keep up the good work, Burk er, Burt. ;^D

Tea Party
I know you aren't surprised about the Demonrats getting big oil money. This is what politicians have always done, hence the reason we have out of control lobbyists and fat cat politicians. They on the one hand pass restrictive legislation and on the other take campaign contributions to get the legislation killed or removed.

It's the ol' you scratch my back and I will throw you a bone shell game they always play.

Too bad they always put self before country and the people who actually put money in their pockets. Doesn't matter whether it's the executive, the lobbyist, or the politician. They are puffed up self important fat heads and I hope they some day get what's coming to them, each and every one of them.

When you have a little time look and see what Feinstein did to us Californians with PG&E and how the Demonrats screwed us and profited off of it.

wiseone
well said, well said. I don't think any lib here could even refute those points you made about the liberal congress blocking our energy policies back in 01 and 02. I am convinced that the libs will do anything to keep us from drilling our own oil. They want to lower us to the level of the rest of the world. They ask themselves, why should we be able to lead better lives?

If they had their way, we would have lines at the gas stations, just like during Carter.

Lee
Your another one that so much of what you know just isn't so. You slurp McClellan's bs because it fills your all consuming need to hate and blame Bush. If that template were applied to a Democrat you however would defend them to the hilt.

Do you honestly really and truly believe that McClellan was privy to the necessary information needed to write that kind of book? If you do, then you are clueless about how government works and the world you live in.

No surprise there! After all your a liberal and liberals cannot seem to cope with how things really are.

Anne
Apparently he has his little reality in ND!

Lee said:
"The Bush administration lying about weapons of mass destruction to sell a fraudulent war to the American people."

Wow, here we go again with the accusations with no sources. Do you work for the New York Times? Nah, since your blood is boiling, I'll have to assume that you are a KOS plant.

Sig

What in the heck does your last post have to do with executive orders, whether something falls under the purview of executive orders and lawsuits????

Are you orbiting earth?

And your economics keep proving what I have said about this country being economically stupid.

Hey
Have any of you heard that several DemonRat
Senators etc. are profiteering off the oil
prices? Fox News had a story about KERRY, making over 250k, MALONEY 100k, and the names of COHEN and KLEIN were mentioned. I got the idea there were more names in the mix. Now
common sense tells me there's more than just
envirotyranny going on here; like algore making millions on tree inhalations, these other LIARS
are determined to keep the gas high for their
own portfolios. KERRY has money in BP, Chevron, and Exxon, and that sleaze really
was nasty when interogating the oil execs, all
a sham. I don't know where Fox got the info, but if it's out there, I wish some enterprising
researcher/investigator would come up with more names. Even if these are the only ones, THEY
are profiting while we are robbing Peter to pay Paul because of the gas prices. Same thing with the sweetheart deals OBAMA, DODD and
CONRAD got. Meanwhile, food prices are rising
and people are starving in other countries because of the Ethanol diverting corn. AND
OBAMA'S Campaign Mgr, none other than Tom "I'm Concerned" Daschle is on the board of three
ethanol producers and OBAMA has had jet rides
(as opposed to McC's flying) in Archer Daniels MIdlands corp. jets. Tell me, they ain't making money off our backs.

Lolo: Sig has NO clue what so ever
He just sits there in ND, or wherever, and decides who should to what, why, and when...

Reality? He never heard of it.

Lolo1
Ok........What executive order has the congress overturned? Not one that I can think of. Seems President Bush has signed many executive orders and signing statements. So what is stopping him now?

Hells bells.
Is oil sold in dollars?
What has the dollar done in the past 2 years?
If you don't know, look it up. But it sure hasn't gone up in value.

We have increased the debt by 3 Trillion...yep folks, 3 trillion. Our balance of trade is shot...those two combined are indicative of a weak dollar.

Food prices? They are up because of the price of oil. The value of corn in a box of corn flakes used to be about 4 cents. Now it is 7 cents. A whole 3 cents....but the cost of transporting that box of Corn Flakes has gone through the roof.

The housing bubble burst long before Democrats won on 06. Anyone with 1/2 a brain could see that one coming fult tilt. Ya know what the sad thing is? That the administration pushed the fed to bail out Bear Sterns. What a crock.
Let them sink as they should have. We would have survived just fine in the long run.

Am I conservative? Ya bet your boots I am. The old kind of conservative tho. Seems we are mostly a dying breed as now we have RINO and Democrat. Just a few Republicans left. Not feeling left out tho as I do think people will start to think again rather than just think of party. Country first is my motto.

Lee
Calm down,Lee. It's not good to get riled up. Not good for the heart and blood pressure...oh ,you said your blood was already boiling. Now,that is really dangerous!!!

Let me help you...The Bush Administration did not lie about WMD's. If any lie was told,it was also told by all the Democrats in power.

The Democrats promised to end the war if they were elected. Have they? I DON'T THINK SO!!

Gas and food prices have almost doubled since the Democrats have taken control, not to mention the housing problems that have happened since they became the majority.

Gas $6 a gallon? Tell it to your party. They are in control. They are the ones satisfied with the statis quo. Hoping it will hurt Bush and the Republicans and get your man elected.

Scott McClellan is an ungrateful squealer and a liar.

We'neocons' do not have the lock on the truth, but you leftwing Democrats do not even know the truth when you see it. I just showed it to you. Do you recognize it? I didn't think so.

The Biggest lie of all was
The Bush administration lying about weapons of mass destruction to sell a fraudulent war to the American people. The bad lie is 4000 american soldiers dead and for what? So we can pay $6.00 a gallon for gas? This makes my blood boil!!!!! You neo-cons have a lot of nerve acting like you have a lock on the truth. The admins ex press secrtry Scott McClellan even came out and told you the truth but you are too ignorant to see it!

Sig
Do you have any clue to as what you are talking about?

Between the costs of drilling and the costs of lawsuits it isn't profitable!!!

What part of this simple cost analysis do you not get???? Even the liberals get it since they are the ones that bring the suits!! More than one company has folded due to the enormous cost of lawsuits and that is the leverage the greenies are using.

Executive Orders
can't overturn Congressional legislation already in place. That's why Bush hasn't signed one. And a Democrat majority is why said legislation won't ever be repealed so long as they are in office.

Sigh.

Lolo1-Anne
Anne:
I have shared my thoughts with President Bush. His response was the typical liberal response. I can't....I can't.

Lolo1:
You are correct, lawsuits eat profits. But with 40 plus for one company, they should get those leases they have going cause there is profit to be made.
One can't live in fear of lawsuits. Heck, ya get up on the wrong side of the bed ya might be sued? Once again, conservatives are risk takers. We don't keep asking the government to solve problems. WE solve problems.
This reliance on Government, the petty arguement of oh nooooo...they won't let us.
Well, isn't it time to do? Rather than seek approval? Remember, we do have RIGHTS! And ambition.....and brains.
Most posters here sound like the liberal trash of the 70's. Want government to do this, do that. The best government is a very very small one.
Oh will, it will be as it will be. But it is so sad to see so much wailing and so little action on a personal basis.

That's right Sig...
Your just sooooo much smarter than everyone else combined. All Bush has to do is sign an Executive Order, like Slick Willie would, and it would be 'stroke of the pen, law of the land," right Sig?

Wrong, you arrogant fool.

From the Heritage Foundation:

Myths About Drilling in ANWR
Friday, December 16, 2005

By Ben Lieberman

"Indeed, the statute creating ANWR contemplated future oil production on the coastal plain, subject to congressional approval."

Please note the phrase "subject to congressional approval," @sshole.

That means Congress must grant approval. The President can't do it on his own, @sshole.

Now take your ignorance, stupidity, and the arrogant tripe it breeds and go play with the other kiddies at the liberal websites. They are much closer to your speed.

@sshole.

Lolo 1
I think a lot of Democrats who kicked Hillary to the curb, wish they had her now, instead of what they have. He is a colossal joke. She was no better, but at least they knew what she believed in,as bad as it was.

We have had some politicians from Ga. who, like the new Democrats, ran as conservatives, then joined the enemy after they were elected. They did not last long.

It is not the conservative message that is failing. It is the conservatives who are bringing that message who have failed us. I hope John McCain will not be one of them.

Sig
Who gives a rat's butt about lawsuits?

Those that have to pay for them.

Lawsuits have a funny way of eating up profits.

Just a reminder on this July 4th!
The Soldier:

CLASSICAL UK STATION
CLASSICAL UK STATION
Dear Mister Barack “Barry” Hussain bin O’BoomBox (nee: Obama):

In the course of your many pedantic diatribe you tend to reiterate a supposed disparity towards the Bush Administration and the United States of America. Due to the miracle of the Internet I listen constantly - with digital quality - to classical music from a station in London England which on the Fourth of July will celebrate our "Independence Day". In my many months listening to this wonderful source of music never have I heard a dispirited word, phrase or comment directed against anything American. That said, my request of you is to cease further any reference from unnamed foreign sources that speak poorly of the greatness of my country. There is nothing respectful from spreading false rumor.

Sincerely;
REILLY ACE OF SPIES

Methusela, I wish I could agree...
with myself! I wanted to see if I could prompt some sort of civil debate or factual response. As you can see it did not.

I agree with you, I would like some factual evidence that Bush lied. They say it and everyone is just supposed to believe it.

Happy INDEPENDENCE DAY to All and especially to our military folks!

oops
In my earlier post I said HuffPo, I meant DailyKOS. I don't know if HuffPo is in the league of KOS and MoveOn.

Hey Sig: Thanks for sharing!

I'm sure Pres. Bush would be enlightened by your ideas.

Methusela: I think you're right...

It's just a slight variation on the same four themes.

Executive Order:
If GHB could sing an executive order banning drilling off Florida, I would say that sets precedence in that GWB could sign an executive order rescinding the previous one.
As far as lawsuits:
Who gives a rats butt. Ya have to start somewhere..right?
I can't for the life of me understand all this wailing, excuse making about this subject. Have any of the wailers actually taken a chance in life????

I wish I could agree
with Farmers Wife when she says "TH posters are Conservative, Liberal, Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Independent, Moderate, etc. We all know a lot about politicians, mostly the bad stuff, and we bat it back and forth on these threads everyday."
She just forgot Socialist, Communist, and hired posters from MoveOn and HuffPo. I have seen very little posting from real Democrats that put FACTS behind their criticisms. Providing sources is always a good thing because that will at least allow us to read and then respond. I'm now of the opinion that most of the "liberal" posters are probably hired from the radical left wing groups because it seems that they post exactly the same cr@p. "George Bush lied!" Sources people.....where are the sources. If George Bush lied you'd think that NBC would have doctored up some documents proving THAT "fact".

Hey Lolo1: Happy July 4th to you as well

Great post, and, every word spot on!

Keep in touch.. Hope all is well. A.

Rowly
And what happened to the promises of honest and open government? What happened to cutting the pork and spending?

Democrats will say and do anything to get elected, and those that support them continually do so because they are so weak of nature and character they cannot admit when they are wrong.

Democrats ran to the right of conservatives in 2006 to get elected and are governing from the far left. These people have no conscience at all and that is why I caution conservatives about voting for Democrats. Better to vote GOP and hammer them continually.

The problems with this country isn't solely and totally with the politicians. It with the uneducated media lemming led masses that are completely and totally lazy.

Every time a Leftie Lies
His nose grows and something else shrinks.

wiseone, Primus and Anne
Happy 4th of July!!

As usual your posts are well stated.

As to GWB issuing an executive order, I am not sure that he can or that it falls within the guidelines of executive orders. Now having said that, only liberals would throw that out there as a suggestion. Only fascist liberals would think of that kind of thing! Only fascist liberals would use that as a fall back position because only fascist liberals force their opinions and world view on others. Only those that are like minded with dictatorships would even consider abusing the executive order privilege in that manner.

Would an executive order stop the greenies from filing about a billion lawsuits against it? NOPE! And what about all of the greenie legislative hurdles already on the books? Hence the reason why the leases the oil companies hold are worthless.

So far all I have seen from the liberals and their liberal politicians is excuses not results. I also keep hearing the liberal mantra of alternative energy but what they are not telling you is the technology is not there, and even if it were, it would take about a half of a century to fully implement it into modern lifestyles.

So who here has about a half a million dollars to convert every single thing in their life over to alternative energy that is currently available? I am betting no one.

Anne
Maybe the trolls can explain why gas prices have almost doubled since the Democrats took over congress. The war has not ended. What happened to all those promises?

Well said..
..Burt and Wiseone.

For Royinoslo
I can name you a journalist who lost us a war, caused 2.1 million indigenous asians to be murdered, and another 2 million to be permanently displaced.

His name is Walter Cronkite and he is a liberal. His declaration, on the air, that the Vietnam War was an invalid undertaking in the immediate aftermath of our successful repulsion of the Tet Offensive in 1968 led to our withdrawal and humiliation and the rampant spread of brutal communism throughout the region.

1.7 million died in the "killing fields" of Cambodia alone. another 100,000 political prisoners were murdered in Laos.

The genocide spawned by the arrogance of Cronkite, supported by a chorus of other lefties, not only dwarfs the carnage of Aghanistan and Iraq, but renders it negligible.

And didn't you read the column? Or did it just fail to penetrate your thick, elitist liberal skull? Duranty praised Stalin as he starved 35 million to death. And CNN lied about Saddam's brutality for 25 years while he and his sick sons murdered, raped, and tortured innocent men, women, and children.

But all you can do is lie about alleged promises Bush didn't keep. Or maybe your problem is you don't hear too well. Here's one promise and prophecy that Bush and Rumsfeld made that was spot on.

"It's ging to be a long, hard slog."

Maybe you wouldn't be so disappointed if you paid the same kind of attention to what these men actually say as you do to the leftwingers whose only reason for being politically active is to destroy these men because they're Republicans.

wiseone: Excellent! Well Said!

But do you know how many times that very information, and MORE, has been posted and linked to sources?

SO MANY THAT WE'VE ALL LOST TRACK!!!

But do you think they care? NOPE!

Do you think it sinks in? NOPE!

Do you think they're stupid? .........

Excellent Column

Great job Burt, as usual !

In my previous post the following sentence:

"Opinion polls show significant dissatisfaction with GWB among conservatives because he is conservative (or forceful) enough."

Should read:

"Opinion polls show significant dissatisfaction with GWB among conservatives because he is NOT conservative (or forceful) enough."

$1.5 million in care packages en route
to soldiers.

" 'I am literally on bended knee thankful that so many people care about our troops'"

http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=68461

"When WND columnist Melanie Morgan of Move America Forward was watching the totals rise in a fundraiser for care packages for soldiers, she was hoping to see it reach $400,000, maybe $500,000 'at the outer stretch of my imagination.'

"The effort, however, raised $1.5 million for packages for the tens of thousands of soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, which will mean "thousands and thousands" of packages being dispatched by tomorrow and Wednesday so they arrive in time for the 4th of July."

Wonder how many Pinnoccios contributed to this?

For Sig,King Liberal, and Vito
It's pretty obvious that GWB won't rescind the 'no drill' executive order because the (Republican) Governor of FLorida doesn't want him to. These are the kind of things that have frustrated conservatives where Bush (and Florida's Governor) is concerned. This kind of moderate, RINO, weenie, please everybody policy-making is why support for Bush from the right has eroded, resulting in low approval numbers (although not nearly as low as the democrat-controlled Congress).

So much for your claim that cons will do anything to excuse GWB. Opinion polls show significant dissatisfaction with GWB among conservatives because he is conservative (or forceful) enough.

Bush did try to get permission to drill ANWR through Congress in 2002, but this was obstructed by the Daschle Democrats and John McCain.

Drilling ANWR, building new refineries, and shifting as much as possible to domestic coal were the cornerstones of the Bush energy plan in early 2001. But instead of addressing the country's energy future, the Daschle Democrats slipped into knee-jerk obstruction mode, exemplified by Hillary Clinton who, as a freshman Senator, publicly declared the Bush energy plan "dead on arrival" in the Senate.

You guys can try to turn this around all you want, but all you are doing is proving Burt's point. The Democrats are the party of no energy. The Democrats are the party that hates Big Oil and the automobile. At the very best your arguments boil down to criticizing Republicans for not undoing the damage in the this industry caused by Democrats, but even this is an hypocrisy since none of you support undoing this damage.

Thanks for confirming by example that everything Burt says about you is true.

Vito: In case you haven't noticed....

I ignore YOU and your posts because your posts make no sense what-so-ever, and you are, for the most part, worthless!

NO, I was not, nor AM I STUMPED! I'm just not sure why you or Sig would even ask a stupid, irrelevant question that couldn't possibly be answered.

I have NO IDEA why Pres. Bush is or is not drilling anywhere, so I have no answer.

Unlike you lying liberals, we Conservatives don't MAKE UP THINGS... If we don't know the answer, we just don't know.

Of course, that does NOT mean that you're right, it just means that there is NO answer. Hope that satisfies your empty, foolish question.

Hey Vito
Glad to see you back.

I wasn't going to comment on your 6:42am post because I figured you'd left for the day.

But now that you're here, I just wanted to congratulate you for again finding some way to shoehorn a bigoted, anti-Jew reference into another Prelutsky column.

Is it true you wear a Swastika armband in public?

1,157 Re-enlist this July 4th in Baghdad
"More Than 1,100 Troops in Iraq to Re-enlist in Independence Day Ceremony

"WASHINGTON, July 3, 2008 – More than 1,100 servicemembers stationed in Iraq will celebrate the nation’s birthday tomorrow by re-enlisting, the senior enlisted leader for Multinational Force Iraq said today.

"Army Command Sgt. Maj. Marvin L. Hill said 1,157 soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines will re-enlist at the Al Faw Palace at Camp Victory, in Baghdad. This may be the largest re-enlistment ceremony since the all-volunteer force began in 1973, Hill said via phone from Baghdad."

Thank you, and God Bless them all!

Sig: Yeah, and your point?

Other than "The government is NOT the answer." and we Conservatives KNOW THAT!

Anne:
Subject: Vito & King Lib: Why are you not asking

why Velcro Bill signed the thing into law in the first place???

That ought to be good for a laugh... or two or three, at least.

And then we can talk about how the libs would have gone ballistic had Pres. Bush actually signed an exec. order to drill.

Anne, answer me this. WHY hasn't President Bush signed that order????? I can give him the pen if he is short on ink. Then it is a done deal.

Anne:
this is a cut and paste from above:
Subject: Vito & King Lib: Why are you not asking

why Velcro Bill signed the thing into law in the first place???

That ought to be good for a laugh... or two or three, at least.

And then we can talk about how the libs would have gone ballistic had Pres. Bush actually signed an exec. order to drill.

Answer me this Anne: Why HASN'T President Bush signed the exec. order to drill???????????? Who cares what the libs say. President Bush is the President and if he wanted to do it he could. In fact, I could give him the Pen to SIGN it.

Anne:
1. I live in ND and they are drilling to beat the band FINALLY! There are and have been no government restrictions on drilling in the Bakken Field. Has been known about for 30 years.
2. GHB signed the executive order that one can't drill close to shore in reposnse to the Florida governor asking him to do so. GWB could sign an executive order rescinding the previous one.
3. I want someone to tell me which security agency thought Sadamm had WMD. Other than Britian and France. Heck, we didn't even think he had them till Douglas Feith re-wrote the thing about 3 times. Clinton may have, but need I say more about him?
4. How much oil do we have left in the US? How many days would it last and what effect on the worlds daily needs would it have?

I am so tired of the sick RINO complaining that everything is someone else's fault. For crying out loud, if you are a conservative, be happy about being a conservative and stop complaining. Go out and DO something. The government is NOT the answer.

Thank you.

King Liar Lib says: "so are you saying
that Bush was "afraid of what the libs" would do if he signed an executive order allowing the drilling? Are you saying that Bush CAVED INTO THE GORE ENVIROMENTAL LOBBY AND EVEN NOW COWERS IN THE FACE OF ENVIRONMENTALISTS?"

Did I say that?

NO... I... DID... NOT... SAY... THAT!

Sorry King Liar Lib, you're the one who is LYING and OBFUSCATING. You made it up!

"Gas is 146 dollars a barrel." And you think that's Pres Bush's doing?

"What has the GOP done?" And what do YOU think he should do?

Geeze, King Liar Liberal, don't you know that we're in this mess because YOUR dumbocratic liberal party has stopped all drilling for the past 38-40YEARS!

But, keep on posting your ignorance and stupidity because 1) It makes us laugh, and 2) It shows just what the liberal dumbocratic party is all about... "Nationalizing" and "Marxism" and "Communism".... pick one because any one will fit your party.

a Sweetheart deal....
the best job if you can get it is to be elected to Congress. Just look at it a minute. They solved their retirement needs. They solved their healthcare needs. They set their own salaries. They drive cars filled with fuel that we pay for. They jet to where ever they want to go on our dime. They get sweetheart loans from the very lenders they are now bailing out.

They constantly say they know what the American people want?????

I say they don't really care, as long as they can keep their own gravy train on track!

Don't bother me with the facts
I've already made up my mind.

I too have challanged people in a discussion where they stated that Bush lied us into a war. There are no examples or defensive statements. Instead the usual tactic is to start a sentence with, "Yea, what about...?" and off we go to another subject. (Alan Colmes is becoming the posture child for this tactic).

The Dan Rather event still has true believers. The usual argument is that it can't be proved but it did happen.
There are some that have put together a string of events and paperwork that if taken out of context and by convoluting the timeline one can prove that George Bush was actually on a 4 year bender at a bar in Lubbock when he was supposed to be in the jet fighter that he is not smart enough to fly.

To be a liberal one must just memorize talking points. No actual reading, research, or thinking required. Kind of an easy life right up to the point that reality sets in.

It goes back to the 60's
Like so much of lefty idiocy, this lying thing goes back to the 60's. I don't mean that lying was invented then; it wasn't even invented by Duranty or Goebbels or Stalin. But in the 60's the radicals found out two simple lessons: first, that everything can be turned into politics; second, that whoever screams loudest, wins.

We all know the multiple cases where rightist speakers get shouted down on college campuses, where there is supposed to be free inquiry and all of that. Whoever screams loudest, wins.

The global warming scam is just one more example of this. The data simply do not support the computer models that make the "We're all gonna die" predictions, and anyone who can look at a simple graph can see that. So instead they just keep screaming, "We're all gonna die!!" Politics replaces science, and whoever screams loudest, wins.

Lying is unimportant to lefties -- really, it's a non-issue. Lying is about morality, and they don't care about that. Everything is politics, and whoever screams loudest, wins.

There is an old lawyer saying about courtroom trials: "If you have the facts on your side, pound on the facts. If you have the law on y our side, pound on the law. If you have neither the facts nor the law on your side, pound on the table." The left, without facts or law (morality) on their side, have been pounding on the table for many years. And if they pound loud enough, they win,

Burt
Good article. For those of us reading around, we already knew the libs lie at every turn. Just read Obama's platform PDF and then listen to his speeches. Its like day and night. If the public knew what the democrats were all about, they would be out in droves voting for Republicans. Democrats will tear down our country, just to bring us equal to everyone else. They will tear down this country to save an environment that doesn't need saving. They will tear down this country just to spite Bush.

Rightmindedmom: You're absolutely RIGHT!

But it's not just important to "our side" it's important to AMERICA!

Now if the limited lying liberals don't want to hear anything but what they want to hear or believe, then that's THEIR shortcoming... or one of their many, many, many....

And you notice, not one of the limited lying liberals has addressed Marxist Obama's home loan yet! LOL

Anne
I usually don't reply to other posters, but I have to reply to your referencing the MSM not reporting on Dodd, Obama & Conrad getting sweetheart loans. They WON'T report it. EVER. They'l just ignore it like they always did in the '90s with the Clintons. If they mention it at all, it will be a slight mention, and then declared "yesterday's news".

This is why talk radio and the internet are so important to our side -- because it's the way to get the TRUTH to the masses. One can't rely on the alphabet networks or the NYTimes.

Mom in Wisconsin

Doc: I'm less than 5 miles from

Valley Forge as I type. Maybe I'll see you there.

THE BEST July 4th! :-)

it takes all kinds...
TH posters are Conservative, Liberal, Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Independent, Moderate, etc. We all know a lot about politicians, mostly the bad stuff, and we bat it back and forth on these threads everyday.

I always wonder as I read through the posts, about the person behind the moniker and what motivates them to say the things they say.

Oneupmanship seems to be the name of the games we play and I can only assume we all come here partially out of real concern about our country and the people we elect to govern and maybe to relieve stress by having something to shout at or kick around. Whatever the reason, it seems to be addiction for all who come here.

One thing I have learned, is that you can find almost anything on the internet to support your opinions or to discredit someone else's.

Truth among politicians is a rare thing indeed but I would like to think that everyday people value truth and I wonder if we were all gathered in a room, face to face, if we might find that we have more in common than we think and realize that we the people need to be more vigilant in our pursuit of truth as told to us by those we elect.

One thing that is apparent is that good ole Uncle Sam is not our rich relative passing out his own wealth. He is passing out what he can get out of us and much of the time he does it without a thought for where it comes from and at what price. We forget that our good Uncle is supposed to be the nation's security blanket and not our own personal one.

We forget that when Uncle favors one group of Americans that we may happen to be in, that another group of Americans is affected unfavorably.

Are we like the two women of old who both claimed to be the mother of the same child and went to King Solomon to settle it? This wise man knew that he could not make both women happy so his solution was to force them to settle the matter in the best interest of the child and not themselves.

sitting
25 miles from the birthplace of freedom right now. going to Valley Forge to pay my respect to the men. Have a great 4th Patriots, well at least too people who love this country.

the bad or good libs?
the road to the hot place will be paved with them 8><

osthode writes: "If anyone should have
accomplished energy results, it is the Democrats."

You're absolutely correct, and they DID! They accomplished EXACTLY what they intended.

The greenie/dumbos have been working on this for the past 38-40 YEARS!!!

Remember, ol' Maxine Waters suggested, during the Congressional Hearings a few weeks ago, that that Government take over the Oil Industry.. Ooops, she let the cat out of the bag that time, didn't she?

And, isn't that just a lovely dovetail into what Marxist Obama has been talking about with "Change" ...?

Well how short people's memories are
Do any of you libs happen to remember why the gang of 14 ever came into being? Oh yeah something about a bunch of dems peeved that Bush did indeed win the election in '00 and that Gore couldn't steal that one so what did they do? Filibuster any reasonable action that the congress or president could make. As I recall the veto wasn't in play it was the nuclear option of eliminating the filibuster as a means to continuously stifle the congress from doing anything. Hmm you may like to remember the first 6 years of Bush's presidency as a do nothing congress and lay everything at the feet of the Republicans, but the record shows the incredible obstructionism of your democratic minority. Argue if you like but guess what? The record speaks for its self.

8 Years?
I don't think so! Queen Nancy and King Reid have been in charge the last almost 4! If anyone should have accomplished energy results, it is the Democrats. Wasn't that part of their agenda? HA! But then they didn't do anything else either except act like accomplices of the enemy.

Another great essay, Burt!
What is equally interesting is the legions of people willing to believe the obvious leftist lies, even after one of their beloved social prophets is caught destroying the truth. For them, it's "government uber alles", and utopia is only one more election away.

That so many people will willingly surrender their freedoms to people who willingly and knowingly lie to gain control and power over a them says volumes about corrupt human thinking. And here it is, the 4th of July.

5 stars, Burt. Keep the truth coming.

Hooked another one!
Wondering if I was going to get my morning laugh this morning, thanks king liberal.

Vito & King Lib: Why are you not asking

Home Loan"

I'm wondering how the MSM is going bury, and/or lie out of this one!

Very clever article Burt
Vito fell right into to your trap, lefties have to lie to refute this piece.5 Stars!!!!

Oh and Burt.. another 5 Stars! :-)
.

Formerly "soms."

"...everytime I see "troops" mentioned by any commentator, I always slightly wonder if any of them have ever been a "troop" and do they have any idea of what that experience is like?"

Why do I get the feeling that you, 'Formerly', are saying that unless one has ever been a "troop" one cannot speak about the troops? Is it that you are attempting to tell Burt 'shut up'? And isn't your post merely an attack at the man and not at the content?

There is plenty in his column for you to reference if you have any criticism... but you can't find anything wrong with what he said. So you basically agree with his column?

goatlocker (#8) & INTHENOW (#10)....

Okay, so this is what I think is sooo hysterically funny...

The dumbos claim that "Pres. Bush duped the planet (including the well-meaning dems) into going to war?"

YET, they also claim that Pres. Bush is stupid.

So, my question is, JUST HOW STUPID does one (or a whole group of people) have to be in order to be duped by someone who is stupid???

I think Christopher Hitchens summed it up pretty well when he said, "'Bush is stupid' is the joke that stupid people laugh at."

Burt, 5 checks! But when called out
like you did, they always try to change the subject and blurt the old "Bush lied" crappola. I have several liberal friends and whenever they pull that line, I ask them to state one example of a Bush lie and we can then discuss whether or not that was a lie. They never can, they just rant that they are all lies, blah, blah, blah. I usually have to hand them a napkin to wipe up the drool.

There is no reasoning with a leftist, it is Ed Zackery like trying to put lipstick on a pig.

Hey Vito
If you think GWB is a conservative, then you don't know much about conservatives.

Vito's actually got a point
Vito's right to ask why we didn't demand drilling for oil when the Republicans were in charge.

For that matter, why wasn't there a Congressional investigation of our colleges during that period? There was and still is plenty to investigate: ridiculously high tuition rates, professors who demand that one take a leftist stance in one's papers, discrimination against those would-be professors who aren't leftists, etc.

Vito
every day is another day that you find your head up your rear, huh?
I see that ignorance is a badge of honor to you! Hold on to that firecracker until the fuse is gone.

don't feed the trolls
Vito's droppings of wisdom at 6:42 does have a couple of good points, and some inanities, but the final paragraph shows me that he's just trolling.

Look up the meaning of "veto proof" (no, not vito in this case, veto) and you'll see why the 2002 attempt to open ANWR failed. Now I'm not going to feed you anymore.

Potemkin Villages
I thought that Potemkin Villages dated back to Catherine the Great. One of her advisers had been lying to her about the state of the province that he ruled ("he" would be Potemkin), and how well it was doing. After hearing of this wonderful land of milk and honey, she decided to take a tour. Potemkin knew he'd lose his head, unless he could make the place appear great. So he sent in carpenters to make view from the main street through each village look good (false fronts and all that) and ordered all of the cows in the region to be put into one large herd that she could ride by during the day, then they would be driven that night to a point some distance ahead on her itinerary so that she could ride by them again.

The Stalin mention is apt. Stalin also wanted to mislead about the true state of things, but Duranty wasn't looking as hard as Catherine the Great had been.

Why do liberals lie?
Liberals always lie with impunity simply because it is a badge of honor. They hold not to any code other than to win -contradiction is a tool (not an embarassment)and valued by liberals. On the other hand, character and virtue, to an all knowing liberal, are impediments to success and weaknesses.

Liars are often cowards who can't face reality, which explains their penchant for waving white flags of surrender before the first shot in a battle is ever fired.

These are the whiney lying snot-nosed brats that have learned as younsters that whining makes mom give in so they believe in their hearts that "negotiations" will stop all evils such as radical Islamists blowing you up with their little innocent kids, and smiling about it.

They have taken lying to an art form, and even got the world to call it something innocent and ordinary (a flip-flop or an unartful word)

Don't Feed the...

goatlockerloungelizard,

You’re wasting your time and energy. Don’t you know Pres. Bush duped the planet (including the well-meaning dems) into going to war? The man is evil and a criminal...responsible for every world-ill.

Don’t take the bait from these pathetic attention seeking trolls. They can’t argue substance so they revert to diversion.

Stay above the feces and resist feeding these imbeciles.

I don't know?
Great article. Agree 100%

Speaking of Non-Arguments
You are apparently an expert, Roy.

As I recall, almost every democrat in the House and Senate voted in support of the invasion of Iraq (when war was still popular according to the opinion polls). And how many times did Bill Clinton state unequivocally that Saddam was a major threat to the world?

Seems to me Burt gave names and many specific examples of lying lefty journalists, while you merely re-spewed the same old party line banalities - Stalin would be proud.

As opposed to the "Bush lied / Fox news bad" mindless claptrap, do you have a cogent rebuttal of Burt's assertions of fact?

Do you just phone it in?
A few unethical or mistake-prone journalists, throw in some over-botoxed Hollywood types, and we have an indictment about lying lefties? Man, I wish I could get a writing job where you don't even have to assemble an argument.

BTW, speaking of lying, name me one journalist who has gotten this country into a war based on faulty premises? Okay, Hearst and Fox News, you got me on that one.

Pinocchjos of the left
Not only Osama Obama, Bloefeld, but the whole Democratic (read: Communist(s)) party in the USA. These stupids were hijacked by the Communists as far back as Woodrow Wilson's time and his advisor, Col. E. M. House and the Fabian socialist movement before that. Tail gunner Joe (McCarthy) was "right-on" some 60 years ago, verified by Venona in the mid-90's. H.L. Mencken too, probably understated things re the "intelligence" of the American public.

It's OK, But...,
As I was reading along, sort of falling back to sleep at the "they are bad, we are good" humdrum narcotic of Websites like this one, the phrase "slandering our troops" nudged me a little. I actually like most of Burt's stuff, as well as a few others here, but everytime I see "troops" mentioned by any commentator, I always slightly wonder if any of them have ever been a "troop" and do they have any idea of what that experience is like?

I could write a book about that, but I won't. I just remember that many of the great commentators of history -- Cicero, Lucretius, Ennius -- served their ten years, before commentating.

Moonbat Exterminator
But they believe them, and they vote like so many robots from a Will Smith movie. They do not think, read, or change their opinions, they just vote, usually based upon their father's voting preferences. Like I said, repeat lies often enough and people will believe them. There is no other rational explanation for a "democrat" vote. And the fact that you were always the last chosen, and were never popular, but are book smart does not endow you with a superior view point. Notice the number of ad hominem arguments proffered by liberals and you will begin to understand just how underhanded they are.

The biggest lie of all
is that the Dems claim to follow the will of the people, conviently overlooking the fact that their definition of the people only includes equally deluded idiots. They may publicly parrot a reverance for the common man, while privately ridiculing him as a dumb, hayseed hick from the sticks who knows as much about sophistication as a liberal knows about real compassion.

Lies
Repeat them often enough....

Perfect
Lies breed ignorance. Ignorance breeds belief in magic. Magical thinking breeds utopian hopes. Utopian hopes breeds Stalin's.

Is Obama a truthful man? If so, why hasn't he told us what his agenda is based upon, not on his cynical need to be elected, but on the reality of his personal beliefs. He is much closer to Stalin in his beliefs than he is to John Adams.

Cheers,

Bloefeld
