Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Of all the bizarre fictions that the media have spread about Barack Obama, the strangest is that's he non-ideological. The supreme purveyor of this fantasy is Obama himself. During his trip to Tobago to meet with Latin American leaders, the president claimed, "we can make progress when we're willing to break free from some of the stale debates and old ideologies." That's a pretty funny sentence when your foreign policy reeks of Jimmy Carter, fermented since 1977.

In a room stuffed with Marxist crackpots like Venezuela's Hugo Chavez and Nicaragua's Daniel Ortega, Obama came not to lecture, but to charm. America's just one country among many, and he was "inclined to listen and not just talk." There were no "junior partners" in the Americas, just partners. He came not to defend America, but to calmly hear it trashed, and win people over with his charisma. Obama believes in his charisma far more than he believes in America.

"I didn't come here to debate the past," Obama declared. "I came here to deal with the future." He explicitly claimed his own biracial skin displayed a new openness on America's part: "As has already been noted, and I think my presence here indicates, the United States has changed over time."

Now there's a powerful defense of your country, President Obama.

Obama's so egotistical he thinks America has two historical eras, Before Obama and the Glorious Now. After sitting through a 50-minute diatribe from that communist thug Daniel Ortega, who ranted that America had unleashed a century of expansionist aggression, Obama's response wasn't national, just personal: "I'm grateful that President Ortega did not blame me for things that happened when I was 3 months old."

Apparently, that sorry act of aggression was John F. Kennedy's failed Bay of Pigs attempt to rid Cuba of Fidel Castro. Few corrected Obama's mistake -- that lost battle occurred a few months before the world was transformed by his birth. The president was asked later what he thought about Ortega's speech, and he said, "It was 50 minutes long. That's what I thought."

There's another powerful way to defend your country, President Obama.

Obama was just as non-confrontational with that other thug Chavez, who pressed him with a copy of a book-length anti-American diatribe called "The Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of Pillage of a Continent." Its author, Eduardo Galeano, typically described America under President Bush as a terrorist war machine in a 2006 Pacifica Radio interview: "This $2,600 million spent each day to kill other people, this machine of killing peoples, devouring the world resources, eating the world resources each day. So this is a terrorist structure indeed, and we are in danger, so President Bush is right, I think. We are suffering a terrorist menace."

But when Chavez handed him Galeano's 30-year-old communist diatribe, Obama could only say, "I think it was, it was a nice gesture to give me a book. I'm a reader." Being obsessed with himself, Obama also said he should have given Chavez his books. He added that Chavez's harsh rhetoric didn't mean they couldn't engage in civil dialogue. There's only one thing wrong with that sentiment: It's not civil dialogue for Chavez to demand that Obama read about how his country is bleeding the Americas to death.

Yet one more powerful -- oh, never mind.

American reporters saw this as a glorious moment. Time's Tim Padgett said the hate-America gift was appropriate, because Obama "proved at the Trinidad summit to be the first U.S. president to get it." Obama "gets" the America-haters. But how would he respond to the charge that Franklin Roosevelt's "Good Neighbor Policy" or John Kennedy's "Alliance for Progress" was just more imperialistic aggression? Is it simply inappropriate to defend American presidents, even when they're Democrats? The "evil empire" narrative must always be listened to with respect -- and without rebuttal?

Only Obama deserves respect, apparently. Padgett thought the Latin leftists should show respect by reading the president's own masterful books in order to admire his "common-sense, post-ideological political philosophy."

To glimpse at the warped worldview of our media elite, look no further than a news "analysis" by Steven Hurst of the Associated Press, who compared Obama favorably to ... Mikhail Gorbachev. Apparently, like Gorbachev, Obama presides over a corrupt and crumbling empire: "During his short -- by Soviet standards -- tenure, he scrambled incessantly to shed the ideological entanglements that were leading the communist empire toward ruin. But Obama is outpacing even Gorbachev."

The leftist media look at Obama and see themselves. There are no "ideological entanglements." They're just out to make the world a better place, insisting that America needs to shrink itself into a smaller, quieter, less "judgmental" partner, and do so while the Western hemisphere goes off a left-wing cliff.

No Gonads. Say nada when US trashed.
Back down on prosecuting CIA and Legals. No gonads folks. No stones to say to Chavez, "I am sorry to be here and hear such bla bla...

Even Sarah Palen would find family jewels to put down this anti American talk and wishy washy statements made around the world about our great Country. The problem is he does not think this was a great country, but if we follow him it can be again. Barf...

My, Aren't We Cranky Today...
And you are the one always whining about,"Ooh, how dare the Family Guy insult Ronald Reagan!" But Carter and Obama-bashing seems nothing but an opinion. I would submit that President Obama has done more to protect America in the last three months than that freakish anti-Christ Reagan ever did in his sad, pathetic life. I am more concerned about what that nutcase from Iran is going to do to us and the Jews than a little socialist president like Chavez. There's a difference: at least Chavez doesn't have a nuclear weapon unlike Iran. I fear Iran far more than I could ever fear Venezuela, and you should too. Because if you don't, you will continue to lose to us Democrats until the cows come home, or at least until they screw up somehow with the national budget.

Of course he does
because he hates America too. Honestly, anyone paying attention knew this before the election. But my guess is he has even more contempt for America and its citizens since the election because they were stupid enough to elect him despite the fact that he hates the vast majority of the voting public.

Personally, I'm fast becoming apathetic. Either the American people rectify this situation in 2010 or we're all facing a future life much like people live in Venezuela.

It's going to get really ugly and really scary here if he gets his way. We'll all be living an economic reality that most Americans have never experienced and can't conceive of given their life experience. Worse than the economic future that he wants to bring us Americans are going to be shocked when we no longer have basic rights like self defense, free speech, freedom of assembly, etc. And let us not forget that every aspect of our lives will be controlled like if we can choose our own medica care, how are children are educated, what temperature to set our thermostat, what type, size, and number of cars we have, how we light our homes, etc.

If you had to make one guess...
what country would you say Obama likes the least of all?

leave it to will
to show us the mind of the insane. If we were to prosecute Bush and Cheney, than lets prosecute Obama and his administration. Let's prosecute Bill Clinton and his administration. Let's prosecute every president who is alive. Heck, lets go around the world and prosecute their leaders. I'm sure people died under their leadership also!

Will's an angry little man with an argument to validate his bloodthirsty existence. Geez, I'd hate to live like that.

This guy
is a national embarassment.

Hey Will
Sit down and STFU. You ARE NOT the voice of the American people. You are the voice of the left wing useful idiots that will be the first killed by your "Religion of Peace" friends when they attack this country because your type, more than anyone else here, is a prime example of the weakness and cowardice that they hate more than anything else.

That's a tought question
you're asking OncealwaysaMarine? It can't be the good old USA because he's been doing nothing but going around the world telling everyone how great we are and that they should like and respect us.

Oh wait, he hasn't been doing that. He's just back fro his world wide I HATE the USA tour. My bad.

Time May Be Fast Running Out

As I am typing, I am listening to Israeli radio online. The current word there is that Iran will have a nuclear weapon within 60 days. Nethanayu is supposed to come to Washington to visit Obama next month, if he leaves without the full support of Washington, Israel will go it alone and take out Iran's nuclear sites and deep-underground bunkers.

The "Samson Option" is a term used to describe Israel’s deterrence strategy of massive retaliation with nuclear weapons as a “last resort” against nations whose military attacks threaten its existence, and possibly against other targets as well.

Like Bush, who came in as "The Education President", but got hit with 09.11.01, Obama's strategy here may be massively changed in a short time period.

If you guys think that what has happened in the past will affect what is going on right now one iota, you fail to comprehend the world.

Our economy is hanging on by a thread, with the other's shoes of the credit cards and commerical real estate market ready to drop. We are already involved in two wars and may be drawn into another. I hope that y'all are ready for a new draft because we don't have the troops available to fight everywhere, especially if we have to treat terrorists with kid gloves.

If the Little Satan is obliterated first, Iran will set its sight on us, The Great Satan, because it wants catastrophic destruction so as to "hasten the return of the 12th Imam".

Welcome to the real world, folks!

Blame Obama!

I, like most of you, am tired to arguing with these people that terrorists don't want to drink tea and dialogue with them. No, they will cut off their heads, put their bodies in wood chippers, and kill their whole families.

So, let's quit all forms of any inconvenient treatment of terrorists, bring them to the US, give them houses, and jobs in our largest, Liberal cities. Next, let Obama rebuild "the wall" between the FBI & CIA, use only police tactics, and treat all terrorist attacks as criminal matters.

For all patriots, I invite you to move to Louisiana, not New Orleans, per se. Our economy is in good condition, we have a great Governor, low taxes, no new taxes planned, low property taxes, low sales taxes, we have added jobs, and are rebuilding.

For the rest of you b@stards, build your bunkers because, since you oppose even the slightest adverse treatment to terrorists, I hope that they blow your cities off the f*cking map.

Are you kidding Denise
If Israel was to take things into their own hands to prevent Iran from getting a nuke, Obama would, without a doubt, be at the head of the line to condemn them for daring to defend themselves.

I'm embarrassed to have to refer to him as my Commander in Chief.

Ensign, I Don't Know
"If Israel was to take things into their own hands to prevent Iran from getting a nuke, Obama would, without a doubt, be at the head of the line to condemn them for daring to defend themselves."

Oh, he likely would, but Iran won't care. It believes that it must cause the catastrophic destruction of both Israel and the United States in order for the 12th Imam to return; thus, they will set their sights on us, if they survive a strike from Israel and, in turn, wipe out them first.

Besides, Obama isn't nearly as successful as he and his supporters believe. He didn't get troops from the EU for Afghanistan. He failed to get a global stimulus program in place. He thought that North Korea would be open to dialogue; instead, the launched a missile. He believed that Raul Castro had signalled a new openness to talk with him about Cuban. So much was Obama's belief in this, he asked that Raul release some political prisoners as a sign of good faith. Tonight, Fidel said that Obama had completely misunderstood his brother and that no release would be forthcoming.

With regard to Israel and Iran, even if we are not drawn in militarily, the price of gasoline will skyrocket and I say this one day after a Federal Judge in DC said that the Department of the Interior can revisit oil and gas leases that are already in place in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska. They want to demand more environmental impact studies and further protection on our parts, which will gas untold disruption in national production.

"I'm embarrassed to have to refer to him as my Commander in Chief."

I don't blame you Biden't prophesy may be on the verge of coming true. You can come down here to the Banana Republic of New Orleans. We have our own "militia". Of course, you have to bear arms against them!

On a "naive" president
Mr. Bozell has very right to think that it is an error to not "lecture" Latin American leaders. I still would argue that lecturing has not been a very successfull strategy in the past.
In the press conference Mr. Bozell is referring to, your president said explicitly - in regard to Europe, but there is no indication that he thinks differently as regards the Americas:
"And so we're still going to have very tough negotiations on a whole host of issues. In Europe, people believe in our plan for Afghanistan, but their politics are still such that it's hard for leaders to want to send more troops into Afghanistan. THAT'S NOT GOING TO CHANGE BECAUSE I'M POPULAR IN EUROPE OR LEADERS THINK THAT I'VE BEEN RESPECTFUL TOWARDS THEM.
On the other hand, by having established those better relations, it means that among the population there's more confidence that working with the United States is beneficial, and they are going to try to do more than they might otherwise have done."
Call it naive but Obama's strategy to work around the leaders and engage the ordinary people of other countries should appeal to Mr. Bozell and his friends who in the past have been critical of Obama's elitism. After all, he is appealing to the Joe the Plummers in Nicaragua, Venezuela or Europe.
And guess, what: It works. But then, all Europeans and Latin Americans are socialist, anyway. Thus, you can dismiss the strategy and continue to dream your pipe dreams of lecturing us into submission.

WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM A COMMUNITY...
ORGANIZER!!

This poor, foolish narcissistic doofus is one of the "Blame America First" crowd. A typical Chicago Leftist politician and an embarrassment to every citizen in this country who loves America and doesn't think it sucks! Can't wait to boot this bum OUT in 2012!

Pride In America....
this is something that we must teach our children...they are not learning it in school.

Our President not only invites America bashing....he is most clearly a participant!

America's children (and adults) need a better example than the one he is providing.

Where?
Where do you expect the communist-in-chief to lead America??
He plans to make it like another Cuba, no??

will, Enjoy!
I am so glad those two illegal terrorists and torturers, George W. Bush and his accomplice Dick Cheney, may soon be brought to justice.

Bush and his terrorist Justice Department (including Gonzales and Bybee) BROKE THE LAW, ILLEGALLY THREW OUT THE GENEVA CONVENTION and international treaties.

I want Bush and Cheney and the torture memo lawyer-authors BROUGHT TO JUSTICE. I want convictions. This is the voice of the american people! The United States needs to see that criminals, even in high office, are not above the law.
*********************************

I have warned you guys for months about going too far and, yesterday, your side finally did.

On top of top, we are at war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Also, according to the Israel radio station that I was listening to online a few hours ago, the Israelis are preparing for the likelihood of probable nuclear action with Iran because they have intelligence that Iran will have a nuclear bomb within 60 days.

If another war breaks out, no one will care about an ex post facto WITCH TRIAL, but you may be drafted since we lack the troops necessary, if we are drawn into another war.

ROTFLMAO!

Don Jones
Why should the communist-in-chief say anything??/ He AGREES with them!!

Dreams of a Disaster
He wrote a book, "Dreams from My Father," about a man whom he maybe saw twice in his life as an adult.

Now he is governing in a dreamlike trance. Obama is like a small boy running around in the jungle as the wolves, lions, and tigers gather around him.

This president is a total disaster but his naivete and total misunderstanding of the real world is likely to bring death, destruction, and misery to millions. Our allies are probably laughing at him behind his back and our enemies are chortling. They can't believe their good luck supplied by the idiocy of the American people.

I'm glad I'm too old to serve in the military any more but I grieve for our sons and grandsons.

My vision: the world descends into anarchy again while the "leader" of the free world plays basketball surrounded by his teleprompters and zombie-like followers and the media people look on, tears in their eyes.

IF
barrys 'BASHING' America is 'politically correct', then the Tea Parties are also 'politically correct' and right in step by 'BASHING' our government!!!!!!

obuma
He is just an out and out PHYSCO!!! wake up AMERICA!!! PLEASE!!

He is so stupid as these people see him as an appeaser and weak and that they can coddle him and behind his back do more evil than before..Since his election you have seen the devils of this world become more embolden..just look at the Russians coming to Venezula..they are laughing in his face and We the People of the US are at risk for his arrogance and ignorance..he is such a turn off.."Loser-in-Chief"

will and the 7sticks
You are very sick people move out of our AMERICA and move in with obuma and chavez!!!! you are disgusting.

HE IS A THREAT TO ALL OF US
US ARMY RETIRED

Kathy
The man's a Marxist-of course he hates America.

Obama, Can You See The Result Now?

Because of the Administration's ban on harsh interrogation methods and its statement that it would only allow the AFM during its first week in office, an Al Qaida member was picked up in Iraq. The military called the CIA, who came over to talk to the military personnel. Normally, the CIA would take the prisoner, for at least 24 hours, so as interrogate him, go through his cellphone, and any documents on his person, etc., but because the CIA has been so frightened by internal CIA word of possible prosecutions, they told the military to...

"KEEP HIM!"

What if that AQ terrorist had intelligence about an upcoming attack in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Israel, Europe or the United States?

We'll never know because of our Disaster-In-Chief.

Advice for the National Embarassment

The appropriate response when given the anti-American book by chavez, would have been for the messiah to drop trou, take a presidential dump into it, and return it to the communist thug.

But obambi didn’t want to outdo the gifts he had given to Britain’s prime minister or the Queen.

REASON FOR OBAMA'S ANTI-AMERICANISM

Click ApolloSpeaks for the answer-2nd article from top.

Denise
I think the al qaida operative had all sorts of information we could've gotten, like the seven secret herbs and spices in Kentucky Fried Chicken, the upcoming signs of the rapture, the location of the next Trilateral Commission meeting, and the place I put my G-D keys! Just go back to your spouse/sibling and have yourself a little shopping spree at Walmart you mouth breather.

Iran's nuke
Iran's use of their first nuclear bomb will be against the US,not Israel;an EMP attack.
In the Caspian Sea,Iran has been testing SCUD launches from container ships, with HIGH-ALTITUDE detonations, that are only useful for nuclear EMP attacks.
An EMP attack on the US would put us back to the 19th century, and cripple us.THEN Iran and it's proxies could attack Israel, confident the US would be too preoccupied to support Israel.

Foreshadowing
Michelle Obama gave us an inkling of what was ahead when she commented that she had never been proud of her country until her husband's run for the White House. Obviously neither was he.

Maybe the first dog can teach his master that one does not soil the bed in which he sleeps.

Too Clever by Half
Obama is too clever by half. He insists that he should not be blamed for events that occurred when he was four months or four years old, e.g Ayers bombs and Bay of Pigs. Why, then, does he insist on blaming the American citizens for events that happened prior to the births of many or all of us, e.g., slavery, atomic bombs, etc.? Obama is an America-hating hypocrite. This is just the beginning of his 'Trash America' campaign. Unfortunately for him, he will finally learn that he is not the messiah and that his charm has limits. The bigger they come....

Anger is building
His Attorney General calls us a nation of cowards and then he apologizes for us all over the globe. Americans are angry and it's building. I wonder how it will break out. I'm hoping we get a preview in 2010. I heard Chris Dodd only had 5 contributors to his reelection campaign. But now Obama is going to campaign for him, so all will be well, right Chris? No one will mind your sweetheart Countrywide mortgages, or your participation in AIG, or all of the money you got from Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac?

Latin America
"ranted that America had unleashed a century of expansionist aggression..."

In many cases this is an accurate description and how many in Latin America view its relations with the US--both among the left and those not on the left.

"Apparently, that sorry act of aggression was John F. Kennedy's failed Bay of Pigs attempt to rid Cuba of Fidel Castro..."

The regime that Castro replaced was hardly any better. The Bay of Pigs wasn't to bring freedom to Cuba but to replace an anti-American dictatorship with a pro-American one.

Let me guess...
"what country would you say Obama likes the least of all?"

The US? I'd bet he'd say he doesn't dislike any of them or that they are all special in their own ways.

Misled, stupid WILL
Are you saying that terrists have any rights as a human being?

Are you crazy?

Any means to gain information from kill-crazy terrists must be employed.

Those asshol%$ strap bombs to themselves and they truly believe that they will gain heaven by killing as many infidels as they can.

That include you and all members of your family.

Your not a Muslim by any chance are you?

My President hates me
and loves my enemies. Though I am not a terrorist, my President has signaled that he sees me as one. For this, I'm supposed to drool over his mug shot on every magazine in sight? I don't get it. Can someone explain this bizarre circumstance to me?

Obama,The Apologizing Man
Many have asked why Obama didn't refute any of Ortega or Chavez and their anti-American rants.
Truth be known,he could have written their scripts. His feelings about America is no different than theirs.

In fact,he probably hates this country even more. His hatred has been festering for years. Now it is a full-blown sore and he has the medicine to heal it. It may destroy us all,but he will be healed and worshipped by the left all over the world.

The7Braincells
"I would submit that President Obama has done more to protect America in the last three months than that freakish anti-Christ Reagan ever did in his sad, pathetic life."

The idiocy of this statement speaks for itself.

The thugs and tyrants of the world are feverishly plotting our demise, secure in the knowledge that we have a spineless community agitator for President. But I have no doubt that when we're hit (and we will be), morons like will and The7Braincells will somehow conjure up a way to blame it on Bush.

Israel
"As I am typing, I am listening to Israeli radio online. The current word there is that Iran will have a nuclear weapon within 60 days."

The Israeli propaganda machine may think this, but Iran is at least a year away from a nuclear weapon.

http://www.princeton.edu/%7Eaglaser/2009aglaser_iran.pdf

Samplin
"Michelle Obama gave us an inkling of what was ahead when she commented that she had never been proud of her country until her husband's run for the White House."

She never said this. She said "For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country..." Not the same now is it?

Wye
"Iran's use of their first nuclear bomb will be against the US,not Israel;an EMP attack."

Yeah. And tell us when the last time Iran attacked another country unprovoked? 100+ years? Has Iran used any of its other WMD? Perhaps in a year Iran could get one nuclear weapon against Israel's 200-450 (the top number would make Israel's stockpile as large as China's). The last non-nuclear member of the Axis of Evil was invaded by US troops and had its regime toppled including the death or arrest of the majority of its leadership. Iran has thousands of US troops on both sides. If I were they, I'd want a nuclear weapon too.

US defense infastructure is shielded from EMP and if any one tried this the US could respond in kind. A EMP would not effect US nuclear weapons nor the US ability to launch them. Iran is actually rational and would not look favorbly to getting hit with hundreds of the 9000 or so American nuclear weapons.

This makes for a good Clancy novel, but has no basis in reality.

Akagi

And why does Princeton knows more than Israel? The government people see what Iran allows them to inspect. The Israelis have shown themselves to be rather resourceful. I'm not so sure about Princeton.

Akagi

"And tell us when the last time Iran attacked another country unprovoked?"

No iran is too GUTLESS and COWARDLY to attack another country under their own flag, so they do so by proxy, funding, training, and arming hezbolla, hamas, and al qaeda.

Akagi
Are you serious? The purpose of an EMP attack would be to neutralize the electrical grid in the US. That alone would be bad enough, with the opportunity left open for many other "on the ground" attacks on our infrastructure that would be much harder to defend.

Second, if Iran made such a move, do you really thing Obama would retaliate with nukes? ...I suppose he would go to the edge by calling for his buddies at the UN to vote for a slap on Iran's wrist.

Iran & Israel

You guys need to read my posts from early this morning.

Israel is on alert, according the radio station in Israel that I was listening to online.

The have intelligence that Iran will have a nuclear bomb within 60 days and are discussing using "The Samson Option" with nuclear weapon stikes.

Ahmadinehad believes that the 12th Imam will return on August 22, 2009. The only way that this can happen, according to the nuts of there, is if catastrophic death and destruction first befalls Israel and, perhaps, The Great Satan.

You guys speak like you are dealing with a group of Mullahs in Iran are sane people. How can you reason with people, whose sole purpose in life is to bring back a 6 year-old child that disappeared over 1100 years ago?

CornDog-Denise-EPulver-Rowly-Others
Can you believe how GUTLESS this Sail Eared Simpleton of Liberal Coward is? He makes Jimmy Carter look like Rambo.

Emerson53, You'll Love This!

Hillary Clinton is threatening Ahmadinejad with crippling sanctions from the UN, if he doesn't allow in inspectors immediately.

So, pretend your Ahmadinejad:

On the one hand, you can allow in the inspectors and not have to deal with that mean, old UN...

On the other hand, you can hope that Israel is prohibited from using the airspace over Iraq, wipe Israel off the map, and bring about the return of the 12th Imam.

If you are a nut like Ahmadinejad, which would you choose?

Obama - The Prince of Arrogance
Obama and his administration need to be removed and replaced ASAP. Enough said...

Re: Hysterical Historians
"And tell us when the last time Iran attacked another country unprovoked?"

You mean asside from sending Republican Guard spec ops troops to fight against the elected government of Iraq? The real question is when was last time the Iranian nut-jobs had an atomic bomb!

BARRY THINKS HE IS GEORGE CLOONY
LOL

Hu Jintao is a member of the CCP--in fact he is the head of the party, but China is moving in the opposite direction as more and more of its economy becomes part of the private sector, Venezuela is moving in the opposite direction. Hu has never called the President of the US Satan, in fact Bush and he were pretty good pals.

USSC
the US Supreme Court has been bought by Obama, the US Citizen has been lied to by Obama, the Election was already in the bag because of Obama. Surprising? Shouldn't be. Obama has never proven to be a US Citizen, his hatered for us is deep. Now he has a treaty to even stop those who reload ammo for recreation shooting.
Are we in the "Time of Troubles?" Oh yeah we are. Our governement has been lying to the people since Wilson brought back segergation, interfered with the internal affairs of other sovereign nations. And it's only got worse since then. Better start saying your prayers because the day is coming when the world will be no more.

The last sentence says plenty; Oblunder believes (like Nehru, Daladier and Chamberlain) that unilaterally allowing a little bully (and in Nehru's case, even a BIG bully) to have his way will put them in better light with the bully.

Georgetwin @ 10:44, on the nail!

For Denise--ever notice that few of Iran's defenders (including Akagi) ever consider that Iran could BUY weapons, especially from nations spawned from erstwhile Soviet Union and/or the (revealed in 2004, five years ago, and quite unremorseful) rogue network of A.Q. Khan?

Hate America
Obama certainly "gets" it. In fact, he is a leader in the movement.

Re: Use it or lose it
"Has Iran used any of its other WMD?"

Of course, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini would have used WMD during the Iran-Iraq War had he inherited any from our ally, the Shah, because unlike these terrorists that deposed our ally, with the assistance of last "Apologizer-in-Chief", "Nobel Laureate Jimmy Carter, the Shah did not do WMD.

Even aside from the grammatical error, cent-percent wrong. Chinese (and also Soviet) commiequeers were quasi-capitalists from get-go--bribery was quite rife in both Soviet Union and PRC!

Also, a correction for John Action @ 12:10. Actually, Iran did posess WMD (large-calibre artillery, heavy conventional and incendiary air-deliverable bombs) during Iran-Iraq war and DID use them, especially on Basra.

Re: Cuba, the Workers' Paradise
"The regime that Castro replaced was hardly any better. The Bay of Pigs wasn't to bring freedom to Cuba but to replace an anti-American dictatorship with a pro-American one."

I see you have studied your copy of "Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent". However, the truth is while Baptista may have been corrupt, as most Latin American rulers were, he wasn't a criminal and terrorist like the Castro brothers. The truth is that in 1958 Cuba had the largest middle class in Latin America with the highest standard of living and income per capita. Baptista prisons were nowhere the torture chambers of the Communists and there was a modicum of the "Rule of Law" in Cuba before Castro. In fact, Castro was arrested and convicted under Baptista, however, unlike most of current Cuban "prisoners of conscience", Baptista released Castro on his "word of honor" not to try to overthrow the government.

"As a direct result of China's relationship with the US. We trained them how to be quasi-capitalists. I'm just saying, a market of 1.3 billion people is a pretty convenient reason to ignore the human rights violations of Chinacorp."

The US didn't train them to be quasi-capitalists. China has been been engaged in capitalism for centuries and a few misguided fools taking on a western ideology isn't going to change that. Deng Xiaoping and his reforms didn't take training from the US how to reform the system. The 1.3 billion is a huge reason, but mostly it is because 1) pushing China on human rights does no good and often has even the opposite effect. Owing to centuries of abuse by the west, China is very prickley when the west starts to meddle in its internal affairs and 2)China is key to many things the US wants to see done on North Korea, Iran, the Sudan and a host of other issues.

"We didn't mind people disappearing under Pinochet..."

No. They didn't mind people disappearing as long as he was anti-communist and the same with Chiang Kai-skek and white terror, the dirty war in Argentina, the Colonels in Greece, El Salvador, Guatemala, Batista in Cuba, Somoza, Marcos, on and on.

Re: Cuba, the Workers' Paradise
BTW, I have a first hand account of the prison system in the "Workers' Paradise" from my uncle who was a guest of Fidel in the Isle of Pines and La Cabana prisons for 17 months in 1959 and 1960 and nearly died from the experience. He witnessed Raul Castro execute the American "Soldier of Fortune", Major William Morgan, one Castro's Comandantes for the mountains. Morgan was executed when he turned against Castro after Fidel embraced a Communist dictatorship for Cuba.

The circumstances of Morgan’s execution as related to me by my uncle were: "He was led out that night onto the grassy moat of La Cabaña, illuminated by spotlights. Seven men were lined up in a firing squad led by Raul Castro. At the execution wall, 'el paradon', Morgan’s hands were tied behind his back, and Castro shouted out that Morgan must kneel. “I kneel for no man but Christo el Rey,” Morgan retorted. At that, Raul fired two shots from his pistol into Morgan's kneecaps, forcing him to the ground. “See, we made you kneel,” Raul Castro shouted. A further volley of bullets finished him off, completely destroying his face. He was 32 at the time."

No, he doesn't
"Obama Welcomes America-Bashing"

Talking points without substance. The world is complicated. You don't turn away from an adversary who wants to shake your hand, let alone one who might want to resurrect diplomatic relations. No country (USA) that does business the way we do with a nuclear totalitarian state like China has the moral 'high ground' to reject any other country's effort to talk.

But keep flailing far right. You have no answers, so you criticize.

John
The plight of the peasants under Castro was hardly better under Batista. Is Cuba a bastion of freedom? No, but neither was it under Batista or as far as that goes anyone.

China
"No country (USA) that does business the way we do with a nuclear totalitarian state like China..."

China is not totalitarian, but authoritarian and very similar to the ROK and the ROC before the reforms of the late 1980s and 1990s. Chinese in China today are more free than at any time in its history--be it the imperial system, the ROC or the PRC. This is the 30th anniversary of the 1979 Kaohsiung riot in Taiwan--when it was one-party, authoritarian state and had people killed, arrested or banished for anti-government activities--today it is a democracy. China is moving toward greater freedom, and Venezeula less. The two states aren't comparable.

Huh
Why does Bozell think that he can prove that Obama is an ideologue by showing that in a room full of people (who actually have various ideologies, Bozell's limitation of it to those on the left is oddly either selective or ignorant) Obama avoided getting into ideological debates.

Obama treated Chavez and Ortega's childishness as if it was beneath him. In some contexts that might be thought to be stuffy, oddly Bozell thinks that it makes him egalitarian. But then Bozell is not the brightest bulb around.

It is true that American presidents in the past have had a habit of diminishing themselves by lowering themselves to the level of whatever pipsqueak wants to feel important by making himself the nemesis of the US. But it is nice to finally see an adult in the white house who is willing to recognize this for what it is and not reward it.

Chavez castigates the US because he knew that Bush would be stupid enough to respond as if Chavez was someone to be taken seriously. And that would elevate Chavez. Obama decided not to help Chavez in this way. Good for him. True that is not the way 3rd graders do it, but there is no reason why our foreign policy should be designed according to how 3rd graders behave on the playground.

Akagi
""Michelle Obama gave us an inkling of what was ahead when she commented that she had never been proud of her country until her husband's run for the White House."

She never said this. She said "For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country..." Not the same now is it?"

So she wasn't "really proud" when our nation came together after 9/11? She wasn't "really proud" when we stood strong in the face of the Soviets, and they toppled? She wasn't really proud when Americans volunteered their time and their money to help out victims of Katrina or numerous other disasters? She wasn't really proud when our servicemen and women in Iraq and Afghanistan have done amazing humanitarian work with the people of those countries? I could go on and on about the great things this great nation has done, with or without the government.

No, she was only "really proud" when her husband had a shot at the White House.

Let see, how does the missing/body count of these "anti-communists" rulers compare to just one Commie? For instance, Mao Zedong's regime (1949-1975) slaughter of conservatively 40 million. By anyone's standards, stopping a communist take-over of one's country saves lives.

Welcome to the Mahdi
When people in terms of old Christian Mythos others just nod their heads, smirk and feel superiour. They seem blissfully unaware that many if not most of the people who have dramatically changed the history of the world not only believe in the existance of prophets, avatars etc they believed they themselves to be such a being. Moses, Jesus, Mohammed spring to mind but there are 100's more. Instead of worrying about what role some Christians want to assign Obama in the latter days pageant we need to ask who and what HE thinks he is. The roles of Antichrist in the Christian mythos and the Mahdi in the Moslem are so similar that, after translational differences you could lay on atop the other and not see and difference in their outlines.

Forget the names. He sees Himself (sic) as a unique bridge between the cultures of the world, an individual whose personal power of personality and insight/wisdom is the final puzzle piece to establishing world peace. This isn't just me babbling. He has announced that he didn't come to work on the world's problems, but to solve them. SOLVE them. Once and for all. That is someone more than a man, something closer to a god.

Cuba under Batista
So Cuba after 50 years of Castro is not much worse than it was before. What a ringing endorsement!

Lorraineanne
Nor do you allow the dictator to trash your country without any rebuttal except to say, well, I am glad he is not blaming me.

How do liberals not see that Obama isn't being diplomatic, but charismatic. There is a difference. At the same time you don't want everyone hating you, you can't believe that everyone will like you either.

Lorraineanne, is your suggestion that the best way to address foreign dictators who go out of their way (for 50 minutes) to trash this country is the the see know evil, hear know evil, speak no evil approach.

Everyone on the planet does not have OUR best interests at heart. Obama is the president of the United States, he needs to start acting like it rather than trying to kiss up to every dictator that crosses his path and then refusing to meet with some of our actual allies.

A wise LEADER once said
To the compassionate man I plead.
To the reasonable man I apply reason.
To the dictator who is neither reasonable or compassionate, I GIVE NO QUARTER.

BHO should LEAD and not kiss a$$.

John
Most of those that died during Mao's regime died during the Great Chinese Famine of 1958-1961. Much of this was a result of gross mismanagement such as the four pests and putting the peasants into collectives, but a good bit was also the results of natural diasters they had no control of--which is why the official term for it in Chinese is the "three years of natural diasters" (san nian zai hai). This was not a result of intentional slaughter, but mass stravation.

Hearts and Minds
Yep, Obama is really changing hearts and minds. From Yabadabadu in Iran;

"“I should give you, the new US administration, this advice. Mr Obama came to power with the slogan of ‘change’, meaning the American people like the rest of the world want a change in the colonialism policy,” Ahmdinejad told crowds in a speech broadcast live from Varamin, a city south of Tehran.

“Therefore it would have been imperative for him to take part in the world’s most important conference of racism and denounce racism, (confirming) that the US is pursuing a changed policy in confronting racism,” he added."

Hearts and Minds 2
And from Castro in that Utopia of Cuba.

"“Without a doubt the president misinterpreted Raul’s speech,” Fidel Castro wrote in a commentary. “When the president of Cuba says he’s willing to discuss all issues with the president of the U.S., he means he’s not afraid to do so.”

When Raul Castro said he was willing to discuss the economic embargo against Cuba, political prisoners and human rights, he was showing the courage of the decades-old revolution, and wasn’t giving in to U.S. demands, Fidel wrote in “Reflections” published yesterday on the Cuba Debate Web site.

Fidel Castro said it appears Obama will be no different from other U.S. presidents and won’t lift the economic embargo.

“One can foresee on this path a sure failure like all of his predecessors,” wrote Castro. “We’re living in new times where the leaders pass but the people live on.”

John
"stopping a communist take-over of one's country saves lives..."

Well, you have a perfect country to test your thesis, as the Maoists in Nepal were just put in power last year.

Re: Hysterical Historians
"The plight of the peasants under Castro was hardly better under Batista. Is Cuba a bastion of freedom? No, but neither was it under Batista or as far as that goes anyone."

At least under Baptista the Cuban peasants weren't conscripted into the Cuban military and forced fight and die around the World in places like Afganistan, Angola, Grenada, etc.

If you believe truly that the Cuban peasants were truly better off under Baptista where they at least had a chance to own their own property and personally benefit from the fruits of their labor, than you really have a skewed sense of what it means to be better off. In the nearly 50 years the Castro brothers have ruled Cuba, virtually every other non-communist country in the Western Hemisphere improved the standard of living of its people. The exception being Castro's Cuba. Even Communist Guyana saw the light as did Belize and, with a little help from its friends, Grenada. Ask the Chileans if they want to try the Allende economic formula again. Of course, with our own Allende in charge, it wont be too long before American workers get to know what 508% inflation feels like.

Obama in Latin America
Leader of the most powerful nation in the world? I don't think so - that is I'm not so sure we will remain the "most powerful" nor that we have a "leader." Obama has no clue - not one about what it is to be proud to be an American. His roots were planted among the anti-truth and freedom realm. He is the elected president of my country - I want to respect him - but how can I respect someone who disdains all that I hold dear? While it is understandable that diplomats have to be polite to one another, especially with cameras rolling, it is not necessary to come off like a friendly, smiling old friend!

He is really doing himself faovrs
Go see Rasmussen's poll -- he is still holding at 54% approval, but his strongly agree vs strongly disagree has gone to a small 2%, or in essence a dead heat. http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/ob ama_administration/daily_presidential_tracking_poll

And you guys on the left thought Bush was polarizing.

Re: I hope Nepal fairs better than Tibet
"Well, you have a perfect country to test your thesis, as the Maoists in Nepal were just put in power last year."

Gee, I wonder what the Dalai Lama thinks of that? As for my thesis, I believe it has been found historically accurate beginning with Bolsheviks all the way through the Khmer Rogue in Cambodia; the North Vietnamese Communists in South Vietnam; Angolan Communists in Angola; and the Afghan Communists in Afghanistan.

Insane! America is and always has been
a BULWARK against evil regimes. Does the Obama administration mark the first one in history where we abrogate that role. I think our enemies can sense that and are chomping at the bit to assert their will and their aggression against a -- now -- more defenseless world.

This could be a very very long four years folks. I think tyranny is on the march in all corners of the world. And our new meekness to confront evil will keep those boots a marchin'.

Spoken like a true Maoist apologist. I suppose you also believe Stalin's slaughter of the Ukrainians was a caused by a natural diasater, too. Think about it. Mao's Communist government controlled the entire economic system of China including agriculture and the delivery of food. If their was truly a famine in the China it was just like the one in Russia - not a "natural diasater" but a "man made" one.

I guess you think that straving North Korean are simply victims of a nature, as well. You have whatlittle credibility you once had with me.

BTW, the French News Agency puts Mao's death toll at:

Agence France Press (25 Sept. 1999) citing at length from Courtois, Stephane, Le Livre Noir du Communism:
Rural purges, 1946-49: 2-5M deaths
Urban purges, 1950-57: 1M
Great Leap Forward: 20-43M
Cultural Revolution: 2-7M
Labor Camps: 20M
Tibet: 0.6-1.2M
TOTAL: 44.5 to 72M

Obviously these were "natural diasaters".

A Bit More Than Bozell
I would take it a bit further than Bozell: Obama is not charming the rest of the world.

Obama obviously does think he is charming the world, which just tells me he believes in the Media production that created him.

We continually here about how charming, eloquent and captivating Barrack Obama is, but who do we hear this from? We are hearing this from Leftist Media outlets all over the world. Sure, when he visits these other countries they fill the auditoriums, townhalls and the like and the Media presents this to us as: "The people are in love with Obama!" But you could advertise a visit by U.S. mud-wrestlers and it would garner enough people from across a country -- to fill an auditorium. And if so, would it be rightly stated that: "The people of England love U.S. mud-wrestlers?"

Obama is a production and has been from start to present. The production is similar to an amateur at an art exhibit. Show the average person on the street a painting obtained from the Flea Market, but tell him before he sees it that it's a priceless piece of work. With that knowledge beforehand, the average viewer will somehow see the magnificence of the painting. That's what happened with Obama -- folks were told before most had even seen him, about how charming, eloquent, charismatic and brilliant he is. And that's what people started to see.

No, he's not charming the rest of the world -- he's being played for a fool. And he's being played for a fool because he believes in his own hype.

Re: Lord how its hard to be humble
"Don't argue with Akagi. Don't you know, he's the smartest person on earth..next to Obama of course"

As I recall, the last time I went 'round and around with him was over the merits of WWII Japanese Admirals. I believe he was abit slanted in his views on that subject, as well. At the time I didn't realize how much he approved of the communist economic and political system, though. It is easy to understand why approves Obama's USA bashing. He probably feels that Truman shouldn't have used "the Bomb" and that a million ally casualities and an additional dead Japanese would have been a better solution to the conflict.

Weak, naive, and narcissistic
"I'm grateful that President Ortega did not blame me for things that happened when I was 3 months old."-

Obama has no idea that being POTUS is not about him and that gifts from foreign leaders are not to HIM, but to American as a whole. This man is entirely narcissistic and marinated in the myopia that comes with it. There is also the annoying tendency for Obama to say, "Wasn't my fault. Its not me!", just like a child! He is, like Sarkozy says, "weak and naive" and like Chavez says, "a naive lawyer". I never thought I'd agree with Hugo Chavez on any subject- Obama has changed that.

Empty Suits
This whole administration, Obama,Biden,Clinton and a few others are a bunch that has to make this country and our enemies wonder, How did the American people find a bunch of politicians this stupid and naive to lead it. This is the Peter principle in all of its glory. God help us all to get over this.

WYE

Repub/Con Fake Macho Cowboy Diplomacy
Is what Prez Obama and the dems are talking about when the say "stale debates and old ideologies."

For some reason repubs/cons think that like John
Wayne riding into town on his stallion with six guns blazing, the POTUS and his POSSE or right wing neocon deputies are supposed to saunter into these international affairs and everyone is supposed to bow down and "cringe in fear" at the "new sheriffs in town" ala former repub potus Ronald Ray-gun and the Bushes 1 & 2.

Heck to hear the right wing loons tell it..Prez Obama should have fired a couple of warning shots over the heads of Chavez and Ortega told em face to face..."We got our eyes on y'all.. any funny stuff and it'ill be HIGH NOON round

Mr. Bush never actually behaved like a cowboy when he was overseas. He said a few things to the press in the heat of 9/11 that have become truth-myths for the left (who don't care much whether something is true or not as long as it makes good propaganda).
So let's be honest. There was never any posse.

Nobody thinks Mr. Obama should be rude or have guns blazing.
I did not vote for him, but started off ok, actually even talked myself into being glad that he was elected, and hopeful about his presidency. I'm sorry to say he's lost the respect I tried hard to give him. There are several reasons, but the main one is his underhanded use of villainizing others to make himself look better. One would hardly think it necessary, as cool and poular as he is. But to me, that's the mark of a small man indeed, and he loses a little more of my respect every time he does it.

The Great Famine was during the Great Leap Forward. Most of the deaths during the Great Leap Forward was during the famine and it was caused largely by mismanagement and to some extent various natural diasters. Between 20-43 million died during the San Nian Zai Hai between 1958 and 1961. The Cultural Revolution 750,000 or so. 1.2 million killed in Xizang? No..not at all. The population today is only 3 million or so and even during the great uprising in 1959 you only had 86,000 killed. In 1959, the population was only 1.2 million. Sorry that stat is totally bogus.

Was Mao a good guy, no. Being a Taiwan nationalist (no I don't mean being part of the KMT), I don't think much of Mao. But I also blame his regime for what it actually did on purpose, not incompetence during the GLF.

Good thing too. Cause Bush would have been TOTALLY blown off by NATO if he asked to have more troops sent there, or would have been openly mocked by the President of France....oh wait.

HOW THE LEFT OBFUSCATES HISTORY
How many Americans know about this?:

"What we still don’t understand is why you Americans stopped the bombing of Hanoi. You had us on the ropes. If you had pressed us a little harder, just for another day or two, we were ready to surrender! It was the same at the battles of TET. You defeated us! We knew it, and we thought you knew it... But we were elated to notice your MEDIA was definitely helping us. They were causing more disruption in America than we could in the battlefields. WE WERE READY TO SURRENDER. YOU HAD WON!” - Vo Nguyen Giap, N. Vietnamese General, in his memoirs.

Now, ask how much did the MSM or "Academia" reveal about BO's RADICAL PARTNERSHIPS?

Same old agenda, different era.

Left Angle
I would accept that partly, but saying that is all he is doing is YOU not listening. You don't have to sit through Noriega going on a screed for 50 minutes with your only response being "I am glad he isn't blaming me for something that happened when I was..." to NOT be Bush. He is doing much more than "not being Bush". Diplomacy has never meant you let a foreign leader bash your country for 50 minutes. The actual diplomatic thing to do would be to politely leave the meeting.

Right on Victoria!
I like your style.

let angle
You make my point exactly. Instead of being the man he is, he defines himself as not-Bush (while taking great pains to villify Bush). I don't know of any other president who has done that. You can hate Mr. Bush if you want, but one thing he never ever did, not even once, was make himself look good at someone else's expense.
As I said, it's the mark of a small man.

Sean: there is an old saying
"keep your friends close and your enemies closer"....

I think that is what obama is doing and signaling he doesnt have the same approach as raygun and the bushes 1 & 2...that cowboy macho bs is antithetical to a black man who is more apt to sit cooly there and let you run your mouth, talking all the bs and posturing all you want...

what you repubs/cons don't understand is that the whole time he is sitting there and you are thinking he is weak, he is measuring you. looking for your weaknesses and determining how he is going to kick your arse in the future..

one day you repubs/cons will understand. lol

Who had the pet dinosaur, then?
I'm not up on my Bible science, was it Jesus, or did God cry fire and turn them all into delicious crude oil by that time? I'm pretty sure the Bible proves the Barnum effect, though.

Of course if you look up cowboy diplomacy, you will find it associated with President Bush.
I could publish a series of articles about you being an obtuse obfuscator, and before long your name would come up when that terms was used. Would that make it the truth? If you think so, you need some serious help with the difference between what's on your screen and what is a fact.

How low we have sunk
It is an indication of just how low we have sunk in this country that the American people have elected as President a man who basically despises this country.
It gets sicker every day.

Sean
what did you want him to do? Jump up and down and yell? Leave the room? Act like he's an adult? I know, a trick question. Having a president who doesn't choose to act like john wayne must be a novelty to some of you.

What 'damage' did Obama cause that Bush hadn't already?

Weak Commander in Chief
He is embarrassing us around the globe. How dare he apologize for us. He bows to Saudi Royalty, accepts an anti-American book from Chavez and defends us to no one. Is it possible to have a commander in chief not defend his own country? Why is he here?

I have "hope" that the supreme court will listen to the case against him for his birth records and "change" his position.

Capitalism promotes racism
Now, a word from Obama's colleague, Bill Ayers:

"President Hugo Chavez, Vice-President Vicente Rangel, Ministers Moncada and Isturiz, invited guests, comrades. I’m honored and humbled to be here with you this morning.

We share the belief that education is the motor-force of revolution,..I look forward to seeing how he and all of you continue to overcome the failings of capitalist education..the Bolivarian revolution has played an important part in countering the barrage of lies spread by the U.S. State Department..

“We can’t have education without revolution. We have tried peace education for 1,900 years and it has failed. Let us try revolution and see what it will do now.”
I’ve also understood teaching as a project intimately connected with social justice.
Teaching invites transformations, it urges revolutions small and large. La educacion es revolucion!
Capitalism promotes racism and militarism – turning people into consumers, not citizens.
Venezuelans have shown the world that with full participation, full inclusion, and popular empowerment, the failings of capitalist schooling can be resisted and overcome.
Venezuela is poised to offer the world a new model of education– a humanizing and revolutionary model whose twin missions are enlightenment and liberation.

Obama
The man is a blithering idiot.

He is spending trillions of money on pork and special interest programs and saving a few million by discontinuing the F-22.

Those programs aren't going to be worth much if he can't defend our country.

GOI, Theocracy!

You really need to get over it. Even if Vitter resigned, which he will not, a Liberal getting elected in Louisiana (state-wide) would have about as much of a chance as me buying my stairway to heaven from you! In other words, NEVER. Louisiana is a conservative state.

And, PUHLEASE!, we gave taken notes from the Democrats...

It's cool to be anti American
Aren't those the ones who thinks President Obama is on the right track here in America reshaping it to resemble Europe in it's socialist ways. The anti Americans. Wasn't it the anti Americans in Europe President Obama was looking for to show the world was just waiting for someone like President Obama to come along. An American President who understands why they hate this country the way the left does. It's cool when you have a visiting President who's just as anti American as the protesters are. If President Obama can sit for twenty years listening to Rev. Wright talk about hating this country, sitting down listening to Hugo Chavez and Daniel Ortega is a piece of cake. President Obama doesn't have Rev. Wright to listen to anymore, so he had to find someone who felt the same way about this country the same way Rev. Wright did and Europe and the Americas was just what the Doctor ordered. It was the sound of music for President Obama listening to anti American talk. Don't forget it was President Obama who said he had to get out of the White House. There's no anti American talk there.

AmeriCorps....Government Welfare.
Rife With Bogus Idealism, Waste, AmeriCorps Doesn't Need To Exist
By JAMES BOVARD | Posted Wednesday, April 22, 2009 4:20 PM PT

President Obama signed legislation Tuesday to triple the number of AmeriCorps members from 75,000 to 250,000.

Obama declared that the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act is about "connecting deeds to needs." Ironically, the signing ceremony and a $5 billion multiyear outlay for AmeriCorps came one day after Obama called on his cabinet members to trim $100 million in wasteful government spending.

Paying people on false pretenses to do unnecessary things is the soul of AmeriCorps. Since President Clinton created this program in 1993, politicians have endlessly touted its recruits as volunteers toiling selflessly for the common good.

"People of color are willing to give the "brother" Prez Obama POTUS a chance..."

OK, I'll play!

The "brother" has:

1. Gone on a failed apology tour in terms of absent of any real achievements and some doozies of protocol blunders.

2. Has so scared the living hell out of CIA agents in the field, that they just tell the military to "Keep Them!"

3. Has endeavored on throwing away the time-honored tradition of refraining from criticizing other Presidents and has sought Banana Republic ex post facto WITCH TRIALS for the previous Administration.

4. Has forgotten that war was declared upon us long before we did the same against AQ, etc.

5. Wants to revert to the Clinton approach to dealing with terrorists, i.e., The Wall is being rebuilt between the FBI & the CIA, the use of police tactics, and processing terrorists through the judicial system.

6. Wants to mandate that the AFM be used when the enemy brings a knife and a gun.

LA: WTF! I'll Play! - II
7. Believes that sanctions matter to Iran when Ahmadinejad is looking forward to August 22, the date when the 12th Imam is supposed to return.

8. That he can control the boom-bust cycle when even Lenin and Stalin failed because centralized planning can't control famines and droughts... or Mother Nature like hurricanes, floods, fires or earthquakes

9. Had a DC Federal District Judge rescind MMS leases that were won even in 2007 and 2008.

Now, if a terrorist attack occurs, centralized planning, or energy prices skyrocket higher than even he ever imagined, will we get:

The "brother" of Hertz fame, who everyone loved?
The "brother" of murder acquittal fame, who bifurcated the "brother" and "Honky sister"?
Or, the "brother" of the Las Vegas robbery and kidnap conviction fame, who united all races and sexes because they had had enough?

Do I, as a non-drinking Kool-Aider, get the first, second or third or do I get a brick to my head a la Reginald Denny? Better yet, when will you as a "brother" say "Homie, you are f*cking NUTS?"

Personally

He is the Jermiah Wright of the Oval Office is all.

He has no power to apologize for anyone else but himself, and that is something he will never do.

He is way too arrogant to think he is flawed, and is extremly flawed.

Morality matters
Far too often we who "dare" to bring morality in to the public discourse allow our voices to be drowned out by those that would subject us to their brand of morality.

We need to have this debates, but we must be honest that morals, right and wrong, do matter.

You guys gotta check out this brilliant piece I read on that very topic today.

"The Great Famine was during the Great Leap Forward. Most of the deaths during the Great Leap Forward was during the famine and it was caused largely by mismanagement and to some extent various natural diasters."

Gee, now you are trying to sale the bovine scatology that mismanagement is somehow a "natural diasater"? You don't happen to be an Obama speech writer by any chance?

Considering that the Great Leap Forward was a program designed and emplemented by the Mao regime in China, can't you at least agree that the Chairman's "fingerprints" where all over that natural disaster?

Re: A Rose by Any Other Name
"The Cultural Revolution 750,000 or so. 1.2 million killed in Xizang? No..not at all. The population today is only 3 million or so and even during the great uprising in 1959 you only had 86,000 killed. In 1959, the population was only 1.2 million. Sorry that stat is totally bogus."

Don't argue with me, argue with the French News Agency! Only 86,000 killed. Boy does that make me feel better about Mao.

Communism and agricultural stability - did you ever notice how one of the first impacts Communism has any country that tries it is that the peasants are nearly wiped out by famine. In Russia the peasants on the "collective farms" were alotted a small parcel of land on which they could grow crops for their own benefit. Historical, these small peasants plots out-produced the state-run collective farms by a factor of nearly ten fold. Now, tell me again how famine under Communism is somehow a "natural diasaster".

Take your pick!
Jasper Becker, Hungry Ghosts : Mao's Secret Famine (1996)
Estimates of the death toll from the Great Leap Forward, 1959-61:
Judith Banister, China's Changing Population (1984): 30M excess deaths (acc2 Becker: "the most reliable estimate we have")
Wang Weizhi, Contemporary Chinese Population (1988): 19.5M deaths
Jin Hui (1993): 40M population loss due to "abnormal deaths and reduced births"
Chen Yizi of the System Reform Inst.: 43-46M deaths

Brzezinski:
Forcible collectivization: 27 million peasants
Cultural Revolution: 1-2 million
TOTAL: 29 million deaths under Mao
Daniel Chirot:
Land reform, 1949-56
According to Zhou Enlai: 830,000
According to Mao Zedong: 2-3M
Great Leap Forward: 20-40 million deaths.
Cultural Revolution: 1-20 million
Jung Chang, Mao: the Unknown Story (2005)
Suppression of Counterrevolutionaries, 1950-51: 3M by execution, mob or suicide
Three-Anti Campaign, 1952-53: 200,000-300,000 suicides
Great Leap Forward, 1958-61: 38M of starvation and overwork
Cultural Revolution, 1966-76: > 3M died violent deaths
Laogai camp deaths, 1949-76: 27M
TOTAL under Mao: 70M

BTW, what is the source of your stats? It isn't Chairman Mao's Little Red Book by any chance?

Of all the egotistical....
