Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

The dictionary defines prejudice as premature judgment: making a decision before becoming aware of the relevant facts of a case or event. Some forms of prejudice are fading; racism being the primary and obvious example. The backlash against prejudice is so intense it has spurred its opposite, the call toward tolerance.

But for one sector, prejudice remains intact. It is perfectly acceptable to spew intolerance against Christians in general and Catholics in particular. But the bonanza of prejudice is reserved for Catholic priests.

In our sex-drenched society, the idea of a single man taking an oath of lifelong celibacy sounds sacrificial to the point of freakish. The world says abstinence is impossible, and pledging abstinence is ridiculous. So when the crisis over child sexual abuse in the Catholic Church erupted, it didn't matter that a tiny minority of unfaithful priests (and their supervisors) had betrayed the faithful. Hollywood and other champions of unbridled lust broke out the prejudice, smearing all Catholic priests as stunted at best, and predatory at worst.

Many assume priests are miserable in their celibacy. That's dead wrong. A Los Angeles Times survey completed in the midst of abuse scandals in 2002 found that 93 percent of more than 1,800 priests surveyed said that they'd become priests if they had to choose their careers again. Only two percent said that they would probably leave the priesthood. In general, priests are more likely to find happiness in their life's work than doctors, lawyers, teachers and even married Protestant clergy.

The tidal wave of outrage inside and outside the Catholic world is long past its peak, but Hollywood keeps whipping on priests as sexually retarded. Two examples emerged within four days of each other recently.

On the Feb. 12 edition of the NBC sitcom "30 Rock," the gags were flying when the show's capitalist-pig character, Jack Donaghy (played by Alec Baldwin), was dragged to Mass on Valentine's Day by his devout Latina girlfriend (Salma Hayek). The lowlight was his trip to the confessional. Before the priest, he refused any opportunity to express remorse for his comically flagrant sins, even as he listed them for several minutes. When he described to the priest the glorious earthly delights of romancing a woman, the priest had enough, charging out of the confessional, a very frustrated and unhappy man. "Harvard didn't prepare me for this!" he lamented.

On the Feb. 16 episode of Fox's "House," the show began with a demoralized priest being rude to a poor man who knocked on a church door wanting a winter coat. He then sat depressed in his dingy apartment, smoking and drinking. (What a miserable life, the priesthood.) This priest had been accused of inappropriate contact with a teenage boy, and had been shuttled from church to church across about six states.

The show's atheist title character delighted in the priest's vanished faith when he came to the hospital after a vision of a bloody Jesus (without a cross) knocked on his door and floated unhappily before him. The doctors all assumed the priest was a drunk.

The scriptwriters wanted everyone to assume the priest is guilty. The doctors unanimously did. Dr. House reveled in the priest's misery -- "a priest that doesn't believe in God. It's cool that God did to him what he did to the kid." After talking to him, he proclaimed: "God, I wish you weren't a pedophile!" He also called him "our pederast priest."

The assumptions of guilt grow heavier and nastier when they determined the priest had a compromised immune system. "Father Nietzsche has AIDS," House declared, after the philosopher who famously suggested God was dead. (That's one of only two times in the script that the priest is described as "Father.")

One doctor insisted they find the child who accused the priest and get him an AIDS test: "This is an innocent kid who's been molested." The priest, a lifelong virgin, refused a similar AIDS test, fearing a false positive. "Heaven forbid, a diddler has job issues," a doctor responded. But the doctors learned it wasn't AIDS after all. And when notified he "needs" an AIDS test, the teenaged accuser recanted. He came to the priest's hospital bed, cried and apologized.

Vindication for the priest? A lesson in tolerance for the audience? Hardly. After it was revealed that the priest had been telling the truth all along, not one of the doctors felt remorse or apologized for all their premature judgments and cruel remarks. When it comes to traditional religion, Hollywood feels very comfortable in its anti-Catholic prejudice, even when they know it's repugnant.

I Don't Understand
Based on Bozell's description, the show did everything he wanted it to do. It showed that those in power were ignorant and rushed to judgement. The priest was vindicated and those who inaccurately judged him were exposed.

Bozell, because his paycheck depends on it, is manufacturing an issue where none exists.

Victim Card
Wow, what a poor imaginary priest. Get over it. If anyone has actually seen the show "House" Dr. House treats everybody like crap and plays off stereotypes, it's the show's calling card. Next week it will be someone else.

STOP LAWSUIT ABUSE
PROHIBIT ALL LEGAL ADVOCACY GROUPS FROM THE PRACTICE OF LAWSUIT ABUSE. IF ONE FELONY IS COMMITTED BY ANY ADVOCACY MEMBER THEY LOSE THEIR LICENSE, BE PROHIBITED FROM EVER HAVING ANY KIND OF POSITION OF PUBLIC TRUST IN CIVIL SERVICE, RELIGOUS SERVICE, OR SOCIAL SERVICE. PROHIBIT THEM FROM PARTICIPATING WITH ANY ORGANIZATION THAT IS RECEIVING TAX BENEFITS OF ANY KIND. PROHIBIT ADVOCACY GROUPS FROM FORCING, COIERCING, OR ILLEGALLY USING THE NAME OF A VICTIM OF HARASSMENT, DISCRIMINATION OR ANY BIAS.

Brent is Right
Brent is right. There are a very few priests who really spoiled it for the rest. The real problem is/was the Church's failure to address the problem quickly and forcefully. Bring Cardinal Law back from Rome to stand trial and let's be done with it.

however
It may be true that the House episode was not the best example, I think Bozell's basic point is correct (while it is true that House treats everyone like crap, the other doctors are generally more sympathetic, and it sounds like the show still portrayed the priest as rude and miserable). I was a big fan of CSI before they had an episode with a priest and went out of their way to portray him as a consummate jerk. I'm told a later episode was ever worse. It has gotten to the point that if they show a priest, I will often change the channel to avoid subjecting myself to yet another portrayal of priest as slimball/idiot/jerk. Exceptions have been all too rare.

Catholics and Hollywood
Hollywood, while the most visible purveyor of hate against Catholics, is by no means the only or even the primary source in this country. We are a primarily Protestant Christian nation. The largest minority demographic in this country is Roman Catholicism, with between 60 and 70 million adherents in the US (or about 20-25% of the population). Since all other Christian religions broke away from the Catholic Church at one point or another (the vast majority since the early 1500s when Henry VIII, and later Martin Luther and John Calvin spurred the Protestant Reformation) there is an inherent anti-Catholic bias built into their theology, because they broke away based on SOME major theological difference or other. When you have modern pastors (and I've seen this) telling their congregations that the Pope (that is, the office, not necessarily the individual) is the antichrist, there's not much chance that the Church is going to be seen as innocent.

A great many non-Catholics in this country are all too willing to believe the tales of abject perversity and scandal, and to assign that perversity not just to the evil men who betrayed their congregations, their vows, and God, and not even to all priests, but to ALL Catholics. Hollywood's just taking the ball and running with it, because it sells.

The worst of it is that the Church is hated from not only the Left but the Right. A few, like Bozell, recognize this to some degree, and try to point out the failures in the media and Hollywood in accurately depicting Catholics.

Catholics and Hollywood Part II
Interestingly, though, Hollywood's anti-Catholic stance is by no means total. Some movies, particularly in the Sci-Fi and Fantasy genres portray Catholics (or, at least poorly portrayed Catholics) as the good guys or even the saviors of humanity.

In X-Men 2, the character "Nightcrawler" -- one of the good-guy mutants -- is a devout Catholic.

In The Fifth Element (with Bruce Willis) one of the main protagonists is a Catholic priest who holds the key to defending the world against an ultimate evil.

In Van Helsing (with Hugh Jackman), all of the main protagonists are Catholic and the title character is a 19th century superhero working for a secret Vatican organization fighting monsters (like Mr. Hyde and Dracula).

Ghostbusters features the Cardinal Archbishop of New York giving advice to the Mayor about the apocalyptic happenings in the film.

I know there are others (because I notice this sort of thing) but that's what I can remember off the top of my head.

Celibacy and Catholic Priests
Let me start by saying there's nothing wrong with celibacy or abstinence. If someone makes that choice, it should be respected.

However, I worry about the view that celibacy is necessary for Catholic priests. The New Testament encourages people to be celibate for spiritual purity, but does not make it mandatory. It continued to be optional for clergy for until the late fourth century.

As the Church matured as an institution, the main purpose for enforcing priestly celibacy became the accumulation of church property. If a priest died without producing heirs, his property would naturally pass to the Church. As a Catholic, I have pretty big misgivings about supporting a practice that has morphed into something it was never intended to be.

And Lest We Forget
if Bozell is worried about Hollywood's attitude toward Catholics, he should seriously consider the Church's attitude toward Hollywood. The movie industry has been a favorite icon of evil for the Church almost since Edison.

Cia
If celebacy is really a problem as related to the sex abuse scandals, then how do you explain the huge number of sex abuse cases involving married school teachers (quite a few of them are female)? It is a non-issue with active priests. Seminarians are subjected to tests and scrutiny for the entire 8 years of thier training. By the time he is ordained, a priest knows what he's getting himself into. Celibacy is not a curse or even an obligation, but a privlege made possible by Christ's grace.

You should also refresh yourself with Church history. Mandatory Celibacy came around during the Counter Reformation as a result of many reforms. Many priests and most Holy Orders already had celibacy, but after the Council of Trent it became mandatory.

I was way more
offended by Timothy LaHaye's (the co-author of the Left Behind books) statement that Catholisim was a "whore" religion than I was watching that episode of House. In fact, I am a regular watcher of that series and it was with trepidation I sat down to watch that particular episode, but it surprised me. I saw a Priest who was having a crisis of faith, and I saw that same Priest resolve that crisis and come back to God, much to the chargrin of House! And I was SO happy when Talbot (the Jewish Doc who automatically assumed the Priest was a pedophile and wanted the "victim" to get tested) got his comeupance when the accuser came back to apologize for the lies he told. No words were necessary in that scene; the look on Talbot's face let the audience know he knew just how wrong and hateful he'd been.

Bozell, Turn the TV Off
Bozell does a lot of commentary about TV shows. Bozell obviously watches a lot of TV. Watching a lot of TV can rot your brain, ask any responsible parent. Just ask Bozell's mommy & daddy.

Tarnishing all Hollywood
as "anti-Catholic" is itself prejudicial. Catholicism has a bad reputation in the US because of the pedophilia problem that was, for so long, ignored by Catholic leadership, or even hidden. That's despicable.

When famous Catholic Mel Gibson spews a drunken rant against Jews while stopped for speeding, it doesn't make all Catholic actors and actresses Jew-haters, does it?

Catholic priest are often the victims
of their own making. The Catholic Church steadfastly refuses to reconsider anyone other than single men, widowed men or married priest from other religion for pastors or deacons. No wonder people, especially Catholics, themselves question their priest.
About the only other people so revived in the Church are single women over the age of 40; actually single people in general are not all that welcome, unless you are under the age of 18 and have a lot of money. We single people get a very little attention; once every 5 years or so and that is begrudgeingly given. I highly suspect it is that way in most religious environments; especially from what I have seen in the Christian sects that appear on TV.

Bottom Line is Joy
Our Holy Father sets the standard--in many ways. What impresses me most is his obvious love of life, love of Church, love of the saints (especially Augustine).

The source of real Joy in this life is the "encounter with Christ" in the many ways in which this "meeting" can take place.

It has been a deep joy, an ongoing inspiration, to read the books. I'd especially recommend, "God and World," a series of interviews on a variety of topics. Each one brings out the best in our Church, our Holy Father--and he is deeply, truly holy.

This is a Test
The evil is the act of abuse but the cover up is what really scared everyone. I am a catholic and do agree with the fact that the villification of all catholics is growing. But then, God is aware of all of this too. Many seers including the Mejugorje seers noted how the church would be facing a crisis... it's here>

Is There a Devil?
Job tells us there is. There is a book called the bible that Catholics and other religious folks almost never refer to. They are quick, though, to advocate the organization statements and the latest leadership insights. They also whine a lot about the spirit of anti-Christ(look for this in 1 John) being hateful and unreasonable.

This was the issue with Luther and the Roman Catholics. The adherence to the Bible is vital for a Christian. Jesus actually describes the nature of Satan in it. Imagine! You can actually know your enemy!!

All must be held to the scrutiny of the Word of God; whether Jew or Greek or Catholic or Protestant or whatever your label. All will be judged by the Word of God which Jesus Christ said He was in the flesh.

The Bible also says to "come out from among them (the world) and be ye separate." If you choose celibacy, then pray for the grace daily to be so. If you choose to receive Christ as Saviour then you are commanded to "deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Him."

Truy, I'm not trying to be *Mean-Spirited* or anything like that BUT???
hOW IN h#ll DO U "TARNISH HOLLYWOOD" unless U find some way to dip the total Industry in somethng I'm not allowed to scribe on TH??
Just wondering???

Question
If celibacy is spiritually beneficial to clergy, then why have we been reading in our newspapers and viewing on our televisions, for years now, one scandal after another involving pedophilia and homosexuality among celibate priests---and very rarely a scandal involving non-celibate clergy turning to pedophilia or homosexuality? Is it possible that young men with pedophilic or homosexual inclinations are attracted to the celibate lifestyle?

The character of ''House''...
--
...is a rolling S.O.B. who never apologizes to anybody when he's wrong.

I tend to think of him as the "anti-Marcus Welby," and while it's refreshing to see a master diagnostician portrayed as the sort of antisocial rat-bastich so many of them are, I don't watch the series.

I certainly missed the episode under discussion.

So why is anybody upset about the portrayal of Dr. House as being a pitiless reviler of someone who has already been earmarked as a pariah? You expect someone with his hateful nature to react as a defender of the downtrodden?

Out of character, that'd be.

I might treat such a patient without animus, but that's because the one thing in this universe that I trust least is the prosecutorial proclivity of the "Malevolent Jobholder" of American civil government.

Better the mores of a convicted murderer than those of the prosecuting attorney who convicted him. By and large, it's proven to be a robust rule of thumb.

And if the priest had been proven to be a real pedophile who simply kept his zipper conscientiously zipped (thus restraining his kiddie-clutching impulses), would there still be this chorus of condemnation for the producers and writers of this episode of *House* among you?

I wonder. Don't you?

=====
"The extortions and oppressions of government will go on so long as such bare fraudulence deceives and disarms the victims – so long as they are ready to swallow the immemorial official theory that protesting against the stealings of the archbishop's secretary's nephew's mistress' illegitimate son is a sin against the Holy Ghost."

-- H.L. Mencken

Judging by the Posts
Judging by the posts I've read I believe that Mr. Bozell's article has just proven to be true. The Anti-Catholic Bias is alive and well in America. The ignorance displayed by the posts is overwhelming. I will not bother to counter or illuminate because it would be useless. Those who are pre-disposed towards this bias have a lifetime of hate to overcome and it would be a waste of my time. I only ask this, what is it about the Catholic Church that makes people feel this way? Look into your own hearts for this answer.

Christianity's Champion
I have tremendous respect for a religion that stands out above all others in America for its adamant stand against abortion. Many mainline Protestant churches, which broke away from the Vatican centuries ago, have become politically correct and support abortion. Even the Reform Jews support abortion. The Pope's lonely adamant stand against the abortion abomination deserves eternal praise.

The Roman Catholic church is the greatest, most successful--and oldest institution--in all of human history. It is the one organization, despite its lapses, that has consistently defended western civilization since its founding.

In these perilous times when we are under a massive, murderous assault from our old Christian enemies--the followers of Islam--it's invigorating that we still have the majesty--and truth--of the Vatican in our corner.

Onward Christian soldiers.

Note to "The Prophet" From What Where
I've known two self proclaimed "Prophets" in the modern world. Thank heaven they've both been institutionalized.

By the way, the "leader" you quoted also said his church would last forever and that "the gates of hell would not prevail against it". I'd wager this holds even when those gates are thrown open by a malcontent.

Fact check, if such matters to a "Prophet": by far most child sexual abuse takes place in the home and by relatives. A real "Prophet" might ponder the ratio of abusers among priests and similarly aged non priests.

Oh the possibilities are endless to any but the brain dead.

I think house was realistic.
That kind of people do not apologize.

80% of Protestant ministers wives said they wish their husbands would choose a different career. That may have a lot to do with priestly happiness in their vocation. Sex isn't worth it.

LIBERAL SLIPPERY SLOPE
Here it is: http://www.comingsoon.cz

A film about the new Bestiality-Rights revolution!

Hang on folks!!!

my two cents
I used to be a fan of 'House' but no longer. And not because of this particular episode - I just got tired of the character - he does have a very short shelf-life.

As for Alex Baldwin - anyone who takes him seriously as an actor is by definition beyond help anyway, so why worry? Check out his brother, the one who was in the Jesse Stone movie starring Tom Selleck - Seriously. He's a good actor and he's a Christian. I'm SHOCKED!

FYI - I am a practicing Catholic and every day I thank almighty God for that fact. If the contempt and mockery of pinheads/fatheads such as Alex Baldwin and Hugh Laurie are the price I must pay for this privilege then so be it.

one more thing
See 'Taken' starring Liam Neeson. There are some reality stretches in it but the overall premise is good and it does show the decline of Europe specifically France quite well.

Lots of violence and bad guys dropping like flies, and all that good stuff, and the idea of an American just going over there to get his daughter back while kicking butt on Albanians and crooked Frogs and the like is refreshing.

Cold Case homosexual murderer
Serveral weeks ago Cold Case had an episode. They were investigating a late 1960s murder. It turned out that a HOMOSEXUAL killed a man, because he was going to expose the gay man. The HOMOSEXUAL was a pedophile, who,in addition beat his son and wife. I thought Hollywood made the gays and lesbians be sympathetic figures these days.

Ignorance About the Catholic Church
spouted by lapsed Catholics, ignorant Catholics and non-Catholics never ceases to amaze, although there is the excuse that we now have several generations of poorly catechised Catholics. Thankfully that is changing.

hypocrisy
look at the chimp cartoon and contrast that with the stupid remarks by Holder. Holder called everyone cowards for not discussing race. However he does not speak out against all of the hate speech laws.

If everyone were really serious about honest discussions about race and despite race, they would first eliminate all of the hate laws first.

Interesting that he calls everyone cowards for not discussing race while holding on to the hammer of hate laws to hit anyone whose honest speech can be twisted into hate speech.

the Chimp cartoon was not about Obama. Sharpton just wants to make sure that Blacks continue to have special treatment.

Priest
The idea all these guys running around with all that garb on makes me sick. Somebody needs to get the bible out and read up on what a priest is. Read the book of Numbers and see if the Catholic priest measures up!

David Tx
You want a close encounter with Christ? Throw away the perversions of scriptures that have come out in the last 50 yrs and get a good KJV study bible. A lot of these so called books that you may want us to read are nothing but man's perspective on what they think. 2Tim2:15 3 Tim3:16 Psm119:105 119:152 --KJV

Christ is not Dimsdale
Christ does not fall when a Reverend does.

The House program is weak on its portrayals of medicine and the medical community. Small wonder they handle the faith falter issue so pedestrianly. The show isn't 'edgy', it's trite and indulgent. The lead comes off as a thin shouldered drunk that would wind up in his own ER on the way to civil court in a real world story.

My parish has a priest that was a Naval Officer Chaplin. He's upright, appears sincere and brings drama and inspiration to the mass. His monsignor appears humble and recently brought the film "Doubt" into his Homily. Both men exude probity.

Now, the failure of the church to be ‘unforgiving' with the abusers, is a sin that merited immediate secular sanction. The Bishops of the American Catholic community should take the back of the hand on their way to oblivion.

It was never an issue of celibacy creating a culture of repressed sexual needs leading to pedophilia. It has always been a problem of the seminaries not disqualifying the homosexual seminarians before they took their vows. This is because homosexuals like vampires; need to create more of their own in any field they can insinuate themselves. Homosexual priests and Bishops are a curse in a faith community. It is unreasonable to ordain a man that promises not to practice homosexual acts when he is one.

It is stated that in the seminaries, caucuses form; the non-gays in theirs and the gays in theirs. The gay priests are the least likely to control their lives and hence the sin of their child lust. The entire predicate of the gay lifestyle and differences are their sex acts. It is what defines them.

Hollywood would need to tell this story.

It wasn't "pedophilia" but . . .
out and out "homosexuality" that the priests were guilty of. By calling it "pedophilia" instead of "homosexual recruitment", the "gay lobby" was given a pass. It is a known fact that the "lavender lobby" in the seminary system conspired to keep good (straight) candidates out of the priesthood. This by no means absolves the bishops and cardinals from guilt for perpetuating this disgusting situation. It is possible that some of them are homosexual and "looked the other way" while these things were going on.
The argument that celibacy contributes to this situation is also flawed. Candidates for the priesthood know what they are getting in to and make their choices accordingly.
A sidenote: celibacy is NOT dogma and could be changed by papal proclamation. Other rites of the Catholic church have married priests.
Celibacy was ordained because church property was being willed to descendents of the married clergy at the time. It was a financial situation at the time; Jesus Christ had nothing to do with the celibacy "doctrine".

Some Corrections
To Happy Jake: Your assertion regarding Rome and the rest of Christianity is debatable, at best - especially in light of actual Church history (and the novelties of papal supremacy and infallibility, etc.).

to Stan: what makes you think that the KJV is "the" version that is without distortion? Why not the original Greek? And the KJV omits the version of the OT that Christ and the Apostles quoted from, the LXX. To me, if it was good enough for Christ, it's good enough for me.

the sinner,

Charles

tj
Orthodoxy has had married priests from the beginning without any problems with willed property that properly belonged to the Church (with few notable exceptions at attempts to do so that were quickly squelched). You are right - forced celibacy for the priesthood is another innovation from Rome.

Charles

It gives me great satisfaction to expose you as neither prophet nor a believer in Jesus Christ; but an insignificant lying little moron. The crude anti-catholicism you bring to this forum is proof of your compact with Satan.

another liar here tonight:

Another bald-faced lying ant-catholic is 7Sticks; a sick failure even as a Jew.

There are NO shreds of truth in calumnies he posts about any Popes; and he lies about the holy priesthood. Typical of a disgraced Jew who isn't even faithful to the Old Covenant. 7Sticks might as well be an Arab pickpocket hanging around the dirtiest neighborhood in Paris. Lol!

The Sinner Charles?
that much I believe.

You seem to have been brought up on a steady diet of anti-catholicism.

The idea that priestly celibacy is foisted on the Catholic clergy to keep property from passing on to surviving heirs was a huge lie pushed by freemasons and whoremongers in 17th century Italy. (All they know anything about even today is GREED.)

Celibacy is NOT forced on an aspiring priest for ANY reason. It's totally voluntary. Celibacy is the priestly ideal because Jesus Christ was a celibate holy man and His priests love Jesus. A priest is called to live his life *** in persona Christi *** (Latin lingo there, which means he is a Christ-figure to his flock.) It's not that any man who wants to be ordained is barred from marrying. It's the fact that only single men are called to be priests.

Let's be thankful

We should give thanks to God for giving to America people of class and integrity like Brent Bozell III; if my memory serves, a close relative of our departed hero on the Right, William F. Buckley.

Buckley, the father of American conservatism, was an exemplary Catholic all his life, as well as a true genius. That ought to settle the hash here of idiots like STAN, a knuckleheaded fundie, and other virulent anti-catholics who infested this thread tonight.

Brent Bozell is also a staunch Catholic, a great servant on earth of the Son of God.

To anti-catholics who only serve the father of lies, I say: Eat your hearts out; and long live Brent Bozell! Who ???? in all the revival tents of your Bible Belt ever approached the stature of a William Buckley? Not even in your dreams!

The crux of the problem
The problem with a requirement of celibacy is that it attracts the wrong people to the priesthood. I don't question the devotion of those who become priests -- on the contrary, I think it shows extreme devotion to God to sacrifice one's own desires for some greater good, real or imagined.

The problem is that too many become priests simply BECAUSE they are attracted to boys or men, and they must deal atone for their feelings by taking a vow of celibacy. If the Roman church would simply enter the 21st century and admit that homosexuality is something nature confers on certain people and is not sinful, perhaps gay Catholics wouldn't feel obligated to become priests. The pedophiles among them should be getting treatment, not lifetime jobs with the Vatican.

Geraldo Rivera estimated years ago that 40 percent of priests are gay, and 20 percent are ACTIVELY gay. Why do you think that is? Their church tells them it's sinful, so they try for a life of celibacy. Many eventually find out how difficult that is for a healthy man.

a crock
The Church, Sir-- entered the 21st century with flair. Just as she entered 200 previous ones; without help from dissidents.

The idea you'd credit Geraldo Rivera with some credibility borders on the obscene in itself. The incidence of homosexuality is apparently a ti-t you wish to chew on now. But in fact we know all about that aberration from ages past. It caused the collapse of classical Greece.

The truth is, we only need to contemplate ONE thing. Is a man born to be depraved; or is he called to be a chaste and holy man? Homosexuals can restrain their lower instincts; they choose NOT TO. In order to keep a chaste priesthood, it needs holy men.

Don't give us the 20th century psychobabble. Homosexual acts are just sinful.

Misplaced reverence?
I think you added an extra zero there, but yes, your beloved church has survived for 20 centuries. It would have died on the vine if the Emperor Constantine had not become a Christian and spread the faith to the entire Roman Empire -- not to mention instructing his priests to decide what you should believe. (Throw out 46 other "gospels" because these four are the "truth"?)

But that's beside the point. Priests have vowed celibacy for only about 10 of those centuries, and not one year has gone by without some serious sexual misbehavior among at all levels.

In fact, Pope John XII was bisexual and held orgies in the papal palace. Pope Benedict IX was homosexual and also enjoyed hosting orgies. Alexander VI was pope after celibacy was introduced, but that didn't spoil his fun. He fathered at least 8 children and had many male lovers. Julius III honored his vow of celibacy but had a male lover before taking that vow. Paul II wore feminine clothing that earned him the nickname "Our Lady of Pity."

Holier than thou? I don't think so.

before we flag your diatribe--

Yes; it's apparent you've dredged all the vile homosexual websites to find your ammunition of hatred and spite. There are more & more of those queerblogs every day. All subscribe to the same lies and filthy ingredients. For their own delight; not to inform anybdy of the truth.

If sliming popes is good PR for gays nowadays, no one will stop you. You have one lifetime, not more. Then you'll have to compensate those lost days in a hellish abyss. Not because I desire your suffering.

You're choosing it, in exchange for your pleasures here.

Everyone knows your post is replete with falsehoods. But, if one or two want to believ you, it won't urprise me. This is the world.

God forgive the few who share a love of orgasmic sympathy for enemies of the Catholic Church. They can thrive at the Academy Awards while life lasts. Then the world no longer supports them.

Oh, and YES. She IS

My beloved Catholic Church.

On a related argument:

We keep seeing in public forums the same old canard:

Christ's Holy Church "would have died on the vine if the Emperor Constantine had not become a Christian and spread the faith to the entire Roman Empire."

Not by historical record. History is succinct. When Nero, Diocletian, Caligula and other Caesars were burning human torches in their courts, all Christian martyrs; and the Church celebrated Mass in catacombs underneath the City of Rome--

This only INCREASED the faith and devotion of persecuted believers; nothing but the Empire "died on the vine." Why was this? Christ Himself lived in their midst.

The Catholic faith is exalted by the Holy Spirit, then as today; not only by pain and losses. Even the Emperor realized at last. CHRIST LIVES and reigns!

Mudslingers canonize paedophilia

There's almost nothing enemies of God and His Church appreciate on earth more than paedophiliacs.

If mutts like David from WA could, they'd vote to canonize every evil priest. Because he affords them the opportunity to slime the Catholic faith without regard for the truth.

One homosexual priest from five hundred; who visits a bath house surreptitiously, and makes a farce of his vows; is like MONEY to guys like David. He adores a set-up like that. A way to hate Christians at large by taking advantage of the homosexual whipping boy Satan provides for sport!

And heaven help if the priest fondles an altar boy!!! That's like an endless orgasm for dicks like David. He denies there could be ANY holy men in the Catholic Church. All priests can be smeared; and it's so EASY! They never talk back, do they?

THEN:
A very short story of my 12 year-old-encounter with Catholics in Brooklyn 1959. This is from the greatest modern novel ever written to deal with sin, schizophrenia and the Hebrew Mesiiah, whom i serve (Back From the Other Side).
