Poll
Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Beware celebrities getting involved in politics. In a 2007 CBS News poll, 49 percent of the public agreed with the notion that "Hollywood celebrities are inexperienced about politics and should stay out of politics." When asked if celebrity endorsements would make voters more or less to support a candidate, 78 percent said it "won't matter to people on way or the other."

I can only conclude that 51 percent of Americans have never heard Hollywood celebrities speak out. Let's take Cher, the singer who can't honor her promises to retire. Upon Barack Obama's inauguration, Cher told CNSNews.com that she loved the new president. "I just think he's totally the right person at this time in our history," she said. "He brings something more in his spirit than maybe another president could be even with the same intelligence. There's something about him that brings more with his spirit, and that's what Americans need right now."

OK, I'm totally cool with that. But why, then, add the next sentence: "Republicans almost killed me."

Asked how Republicans somehow "killed" her, Cher wasn't specific. She just couldn't understand why people would lower themselves to voting GOP. "You know what? I have so -- I try to be charitable, and there are some really good Republicans, but I just don't understand how anyone would want to be a Republican," she said. "If you're poor, if you're any kind of minority -- gay, black, Latino, anything. If you're not a rich -- I don't know. If you're not a rich [white] born-again-Christian, I don't get it."

Those are the crucial words, "I don't get it." Celebrities aren't expected to make sense, they're only expected to be famous. Cher doesn't seem to have any stronger ideas on how to run the country other than she hates Republicans. Why would anyone let Cher help them decide what they think of political issues? Celebrities like Cher live inside a bubble that doesn't let any reality seep through.

Here's another example. Hollywood people think Republicans are dividers, but when Democrats come to power and shove their agenda down our throats, they can be plausibly defined as "healing" people. Here's Cher on NBC in October: "The country is so divided. And it's still gonna be divided. But I honestly think there are some people that are healing people, and there are some people like this president we have right now, that are just, you know he says, he's the Big Decider, but I think he's the Big Divider."

Totally.

Clearly, Hollywood people think their kind of people are "healers" because they're peacemakers who don't start wars. But how would celebrities keep the country safe? How would Hollywood respond to 9/11? They don't have to have a clue. "All you need is love" is about all they have to offer.

With the affairs of man so neatly resolved, it's time to extend this "healing" crusade to animal rights. Cher's also been active recently in trying to end any elephant exhibits at the Los Angeles Zoo, alongside other celebrities like Lily Tomlin and Bob Barker. They want to move a longtime resident elephant named Billy out of the zoo.

"I'm not a fanatic. I just love animals, like most Americans," she told the city council. "They say it's always been done this way, there's always been elephants in zoos. But it doesn't make it right because we've had other things we're ashamed of -- like slavery."

But the stars' desperate protests -- and Cher's devastating logic -- weren't enough to convince L.A. officials, who voted 11-4 to finish the $42-million "Pachyderm Forest" elephant enclosure for Billy and others. Zoo professionals were not impressed with the celebrity activists: "No disrespect, but if you want to know about a concert, talk to Cher," zookeeper Joshua Sisk told council members. "If you want to know about the zoo, let's talk to professionals at the zoo."

Like many a Hollywood liberal, Cher's sympathies for animals don't extend to human babies. She starred and helped direct a pro-abortion film for HBO in 1996. She told Newsweek at the time she was passionate from personal experience: "Our mother almost died from an illegal abortion when I was little. Our grandmother had a desperate coat-hanger abortion when she was young. I had four miscarriages before I got pregnant with my daughter. I had two abortions. Legal." She was upset there was still an abortion debate. "If men had babies, we wouldn't be having this conversation. It would be a done deal."

Celebrities like Cher are rarely pressed to reconcile their arguments. How is it inhumane to keep an elephant in captivity, but humane to murder an innocent human baby? The media merely want to exploit their star power, so it doesn't matter to them whether celebrities are making sense. Hurray for the hollowness of Hollywood.

That's Easy For You To Say...
I know this isn't the first time I've posted this, but as I recall, there's an interesting piece in Time Magazine's digital archives entitled "The Anti-Abortion Campaign" published Mon.., March 29th, 1971. That's very important to keep in mind since Roe Vs. Wade was decided on Jan. 22nd, 1973.

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,944324,00. html

The most interesting quote I can find:

"...None of the angry words have equaled the angry action of the ultra-right Sons of Thunder in Washington, D.C. Dressed in khaki shirts and red berets, they invaded a Washington clinic last May to protest the abortions performed there; among the invaders was L. Brent Bozell, brother-in-law of William F. Buckley and, along with Buckley's sister Patricia, an editor of Triumph magazine. Triumph's editorial support of such activism caused William Buckley last week to write that "such analyses discredit the anti-abortion position..."

But I digress.

I think you may have to take Cher's words with a grain of salt, her ex-husband, the late Sonny Bono, was a Republican congressman (his seat's now occupied by his widow Mary, also a Republican.) I'm not saying she's a rocket scientist, but if you are willing to believe she really believes that Republicans harmed her, you might need as much help as she does. Last time I checked, she didn't hate Sonny because he was a Republican (hence, that's why I said last time I checked, since I'm not interested in the intimate going-ons of celebrity couples. You only have so much time to waste, so why not on something useful?)

As For The Elephant In The Room...
As for the elephant thing at the zoo, my one question would be: Is it really necessary to have a big, new elephant pen? Elephants seem interesting, but why would we need more than one of them? Los Angeles has a finite amount of space being developed, especially in the general area of the LA Zoo, which also carries the Gene Autry museum and Griffith Park. The park was severely devastated two years ago from a wildfire, so why do we need an eyesore like an elephant pen when we're trying to do something useful, like trying to re-grow the dead trees around the park? (And no, I'm not a climate change idiot, I just like looking at trees.) If you really want to see herds of elephants that badly, there's always the San Diego Wild Animal Park. It's easy to get there by train and doesn't cost that much, so whatch'you'waitin' 'fer? We need homes for humans to live in, not pens for elephants.

Cher's political philosophy
Democrat gooood; Republican baaaaaaad.

Sad
When a celebrity opens his or her mouth on the subject of politics I close my wallet to their productions even if they have talent.

They are actors or musicians and their opinions are no more important than any other working citizen. I resent the use of celebrity to influence elections.

They should never forget that they are in their position in life because ordinary Americans supported and put them there...just like the politicians.
Please don't abuse that position and cause us to regret it.

Fools
Why would anyone listen to any of these 'entertainers?' I refuse to watch their movies or listen to their music; I don't want to subsidize the enemy. As far as I am concerned. they are nearly too stupid to chew gum and walk and they should probably be removed from the gene pool. What a bunch of fools there are in Hollywood.

One Entertainer with Class
During the Vietnam War, Elvis Presley was asked about his views on that war. His response: "I'm just an entertainer, ma'am."

the7sticks
Lets see now...The Sons of Thunder walked into an abortion clinic and protested the clinics performing abortions there. Time calls them "invaders" but gays interupting church services are protesters and activists. I don't know about you, but in my lexicon anyone protesting the taking of innocent human life is , well, a hero.

Michelle Malkin did an article on Ashley Judd, another mindless kool-aid drinker, who think because they are celebrities that anyone cares when they pontificate on things they have no clue about. It just shows them to be the pretenders they are. Cher is the epitome of a CA airhead and just reinforces that moniker everytime she opens her mouth.

Time magazine is a lib mouthpiece whose days are numbered as evidenced by their financial troubles and decreased circulation. May it rest in peace.

Advise from Cher???
Ha ha ha This from a rank celeb who thinks Mount Rushmore is a natural mountain structure created by nature!

Something In His Spirit
Cher said, in talking about Obama: "He brings something more in his spirit...". I think that's probably the one accurate thing she's said. The question is - What does he bring? Does he bring hope and change for good? Or does he bring a cult of personality that is at the base of many of the world's worst dictatorships?

Ali Sina, in "Understanding Obama: The Making of a Fuehrer" wrote:

"When cheering for someone turns into adulation, something is wrong. Excessive adulation is indicative of a personality cult. The cult of personality is often created when the general population is discontent. A charismatic leader can seize the opportunity and project himself as an agent of change and a revolutionary leader. Often, people, tired of the status quo, do not have the patience to examine the nature of the proposed change. All they want is change."

Obama has promised that if we do things his way, i.e. massively increase the size of the Federal government under his leadership, he can save us from the economic disaster that will otherwise befall us as a nation. But if you actually examine his history, his relationships, his personality, and his promises, there is room for much concern.

There are those who see Obama as one of the
'healing people'. For them he is a messiah who will lead this nation into a blessed unity. For others of us, he is a wake-up call. What is he for you?

If you would like to know more about why he was a wake-up call for me, look at my blog.

http://BillLong.BlogTownHall.com

Resist temptation -- a little
It's tempting to dismiss celebrities as ignoramuses, lunatics, or worse; for a great majority are. Cher, for example, is not only a delusional, self-promoting leftist, and a walking PSA on the dangers of excessive cosmetic surgery, but also a ninth-grade dropout.

Gary Sinise and others have rendered excellent service for our men and women in uniform, however. Michael J. Fox has done more to raise awareness of Parkinson's disease than have all the surgeons general combined. I disagree with his position on embryonic stem-cell research, but I applaud his public spirit. And let's not forget that the greatest president of the last century had been an actor. Unlike the most vocal airheads in modern Hollywood, though, he was a bright, decent fellow with a degree in economics.

Abortion
Well, I'm willing to bet that Cher's stories about her mother's and grandmother's close calls with coat-hangers is absolute fabricated bull, the typical liberal family myths. Cher is a vapuous drug-addled air head, and typical of whats left of the 60's generation. If it were not for the liberals take-over of the education system, 99% of the population would be able to see her for what she is and ignore her. But being as so few of our high school and college grads have been trained in critical thinking, Cher, the cellulite idiot actually poses a danger to our planet every time she opens her mouth and issues forth her idiot wind.

Emoting Irrationality
Cher and the Democrat Party are perfect together. They both act and think on the basis of emotion. In the real world we have to ensure that our actions are guided by rationality. Hollywood rewards emotion but the universe awards no Oscars for wrong-headed emotional decisions: It penalizes them--often with much suffering and even an early death.

Occasionally, one of the Hollywood stars
Will say something worth hearing. I caught a great interview with Gary Sinese about Iraq the other day. He confined his comments to his interactions with the American troops who he was there with his band to entertain and he seemed to know what he was talking about. Occasionally, you get those, but almost always from entertainers who realize that their primary job is to entertain, not to enlighten anyone with their "superior" intelligence. Not that I know Gary Sinese's political affiliation -- I'd have to care enough to look it up and I don't -- but I am rarely surprised to find out later that the celebrity who gave that rare, insightful comment is -- well, conservative. They are as rare as hen's teeth in Hollywood, but they do exist. Like scientists who are Christians, many of them are afraid to come out of the closet for fear of destroying their careers, but maybe that will change soon. I'm thinking the current mess being deepened by the Dem Congress and Mr. Obama is going to make conservativism (not necessarily Republicanism) seem a LOT more attractive. Of course, we won't be able to afford to go to movies anymore, but that should also mean we won't have to listen to Cher and the other airheads opine as often.

We can only hope!

Oh, being nice and honest
Cher proved herself to be a really good actress in a number of films. They should use her singing instead of water-boarding to torture the guys at Gitmo, but she can act. That doesn't mean she's smart or politically savvy. Skill/talent in one area does not necessarily translate into others.

Cher
Don't blame Cher. After all, she dropped out of high school at 16. She's just an uneducated little thing that was going nowhere until SOnny came along and made her a star. She also has enough silicone in her to keep at least one Dow Corning plant in operation!

Cher doesn't have to "get it"
Like most of Hollywood, she lives an exclusive life. Private, secure, and lavish everything for her; all she need do is feel and proclamate. To the Chers of the world, all things remain abstracts to be judged after being filtered through their clearly superior perceptions- perceptions based upon images supplied by a simpering, pampered media.

Cher should come to work with me for a week- but it would be most inconvenient and a bit cramped in my car. I don't know that reality can punch its way through all that privilege and silicone anyhow.

Celebs have the same inalienable rights
1. Celebs have the same right as any other American; the right to shoot off their mouths.

2. Celebs have privileges most Americans don't; in this case, the privilege of reporters sending their words out to the world.

3. Celebs are not exempt from receiving the results of even more American rights; the right to ignore, mock, or boycott others based on their speech, no matter how famous they are.

I'm more than cool with points 1 & 2; it's when celebs forget point 3 and get huffy about prole reactions that I get annoyed.

Seriously?
I think it's laughable that anyone in show business thinks that just because they open their mouths, the "little people" will wait with bated breath to hear what they have to say. A good portion of the hollyweirds are liberal. They have to find some way to justify their lifestyle. They change spouses like they change their underwear! It's no wonder they are liberal! Those of us that live in the real world think about the issues that affect our families. Who is putting food on the table? Who is keeping our families safe from people that would do us harm? Peace and love? Yeah, I read fairy tales when I was a kid too. Then I grew up and became an adult! It's an unfortunate part of human nature, but there is always someone who covets what you have and wants to take it away. Maybe if someone explained it to the hollyweirds in kid speak they might understand? How about this... It's like that game "King if the hill". When you're at the top, there's always someone there trying to knock you down.

WHO?
Who's "Cher"?

Celebrity status
Why should they get any more say then I do?

Except for contributions.

Which explains that politicians are money mongers and not individual freedom lovers.

Catastrophy
Ladies and gentlemen, we have vermin in the White House! In just two weeks we already need new sod....

Hypocrites, as usual
Did any conservative have a problem with Chuck Norris speaking out for Huckabee? I didn't think so. The only time Bozell has a problem is when it's someone making the case against his side. Pure demagoguing, pathetic. Maybe he should draft a constitutional admendment against hollywood actors like Reagon adding to politics period. Bozell is a lame priest talking to his diminishing chior

an american liberal
you compare cher to chuck norris?

haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Sonny Bono
Was a class act and usually responded kindly to the idiotic statements forever dribbling from Cher's pie hole.

There was a time when he had had enough, apparently, during one of his campaigns Cher was spouting off about how dumb Sonny was. He told the interviewer that when he met Cher, she was so stupid, she thought that the moon was part of the sun and revolved around the earth.

Since hearing him tell that story on her, I haven't paid any attention to anything coming out of her mouth, including "music." She can act, though. I can't decide whether I like Mask or Moonstruck the best, but I wouldn't walk across the street to spit on her shoe.

an american liberal
So Cher was simply making a case for the other side? I'm sorry, but calling me a rich, white, Christian evangelical doesn't even address "my side". Chuck Norris didn't convince me to support Huckabee but at least a few of them were substansive.

Paleocon: Good points!

Again, it comes back to "personal responsibility!"

All one has to do is take a look at who is "informed" and can articulate about their stand, and who cannot.

For the most part, we find that the "celebrities" who are more Conservative are the ones who can speak or write intelligently, and with substance, about their political views.

Unlike, Cher (and we can't forget Barbara Streisand!) for example, who has yet to have anything of substance to say... pretty much about anything.

In addition, these Conservative "celebrities" back up their commitments with TIME and money. All you need to do is take a look at the USO tour schedule and see who IS putting time and money behind their convictions.

Hollywood and Politics
How can these fools think that they have any worthwhile and intelligent judgement regarding how this country can best be governed when most of them can't even "act" must less live a decent and moral life.
What a bunch of idiots.
However I'm reminded that most of the politicians in "Foggy Bottom" are actors in their own rights.
If you don't believe so just think back to their campaigns and "promises" and their actual performance once they are in office.
Poor actors that unltimately deceive us all.
Whatever happened to honest leadership?

"an american liberal" opines:
"Did any conservative have a problem with Chuck Norris speaking out for Huckabee? I didn't think so."
-----

As John McEnroe would say, "You CANNOT be serious!!!"

Please cite Cher's book on American culture - or her many, many political columns where she cites other books, columns or factual records for her "opinions".

Say what you will about Chuck - at least he writes using some informed opinion and knowledge of the real world - not some "New Age" emotion and "feelings".

(BTW, I did not support Huckabee.)

I used to go to the movies
I love movies and I never missed an Oscar broadcast. Then Al Gore, Michael Moorse were given Oscars for their nonsense, and Hollywood liberals starting spouting their political nonsense. My list of actors I won't see grows and grows. It has even ruined movies I used to watch, e.g. Bull Durham. Watching Susan Sarandon makes my stomach turn. Besides, Oscar nominates the indy movies that Americans don't see, and foreign actors in movies we won't see. Where is the interest? Gone. Now I watch action films. Jason Statham anyone?

Toilet Sniffers Allowed
It would be wrong to demand that Cher keeps her views to herself. Even if she claimed she loved the smell of recently used toilets. Only a retard would object to any of her thoughts. Most Americans come to their own conclusions and do not depend on Cher for guidance.

IF we forget the past: "amer lib" pretty

much makes the point... Rarely do liberals have an actual point, which is why they're UNABLE to discuss anything in depth.

Consequently, all they have are inane sound bites.

And it's universal. Celebs, as well as our resident TH liberals... never have anything of real substance to say.

Anne - USO
Your USO analogy falls a little bit short of perfect. Al Franken (Bozo Emeritus) has been on a number of USO tours and used this information extensively in his Senate campaign to unseat Senator Coleman.

To all Americans: re Al Franken if he prevails; We're sorry.

Kind Regards

Primus: Ahh, but they ARE serious...

And THAT'S the really scary part!

MNDuck: You have a point...

But really, look at the majority of the celebs who go on USO tours.

No doubt, franken went on those tours in prep for his run for the Senate.

Anne - Franken's Motive
I don't know what the motive was for Franken to go on the USO tours. I will say that he is an arrogant blowhard.

We sure have had our share of embarrassments from Minnesota - Ventura, Wellstone, Klobuchar, Mondale (paired with the failed President Carter), and maybe now Franken. I think only Massachusetts comes close with Frank, Studds, and Kennedy.

Kind Regards

Anne
Good post.

A lot of leftie celebrities are sadly uninformed and inarticulate. Those who can express themselves with a little greater clarity often reveal astonishing ignorance, prejudice, childishness, incoherence, or downright weirdness. For example, Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins once told an interviewer that it's all right for him to own several Monaco-size houses and a growing fleet of gas-gulping cars because he opposes the war in Iraq, a much bigger waste of fuel.

We should be wary of celebrities with opinions. But there's just no comparison between such babble and, say, Charlton Heston's _Courage To Be Free_. None.

celebs
I don't have a problem with celebs stating their opinions.I just don't like the msm only giving space to the kiberal celebs.

MNDuck: You might have a point...

Embarrassingly, PA isn't too far behind either.

{hanging my head in shame}

Paleocon: Thanks. :-) Exactly my point.

Heston is one, and Ron Silver is another example, along with Norris.

Check out THIS site for a partial list of Conservative celebs. You'll be surprised!

http://www.mypalal.com/aboutalan/ConservativeCelebrities.cf m

The interesting thing is, however, you don't hear these Conservative celebs using their "celeb status" to mouth off.

If and when (the MSM allows them) we hear them speak on their political views, you'll find they're INFORMED, and actually have something with substance to say.

CHER BONEHEAD AND ASHLEY JUGGS

.....Two acolytes on the Altar of abortion who defend the "rights" of animals over humans ...

.....COLOSSUS

Liberals - Save Wolves - Kill Babies

Obama believes when a woman contracts for a dead baby - they deserve a dead baby. This is what Barack Obama fights for and defends.

Obama opposes a bill that defines as a “person” a fully born baby who survives an abortion.

Obama votes “present” on legislation that would require doctors to give medical attention to babies who survive abortions. Obama argues that defining “…a pre-viable fetus" that survived an abortion as a "person" or "child would essentially bar abortions, because the Equal Protection Clause does not allow somebody to kill a child, and if this is a child, then this would be an anti-abortion statute."

--------------------
By CHRISTINE ARMARIO
Associated Press Writer

"Eighteen and pregnant, Sycloria Williams went to an abortion clinic outside Miami and paid $1,200 for Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacque Renelique to terminate her 23-week pregnancy.

Three days later, she sat in a reclining chair, medicated to dilate her cervix and otherwise get her ready for the procedure.

Only Renelique didn't arrive in time. According to Williams and the Florida Department of Health, she went into labor and delivered a live baby girl.

What Williams and the Health Department say happened next has shocked people on both sides of the abortion debate: One of the clinic's owners, who has no medical license, cut the infant's umbilical cord. Williams says the woman placed the baby in a plastic biohazard bag and threw it out."

Hollow Wood is Balsa and shallow.
Brent your the master! Well said! For some reason the pretenders(make believers)in Tinsel town, actors live in a fairyland where nothing is real. What burns my toes is hearing these idiots that all they know how to do is act and try to look glamorous. These shallow minded freaks should only open their mouths when they are pretending in some kind of pagenistic show or movie! Just look at Cher! She is morally and mentally bankrupt and these kids who want to grow to be like her along with P. Hilton, Spears, Alec Baldwin, Sheen and the idiots that go and talk to these evil empires as if they are diplomats! Don't these fools know if the enemy has their way that they will be looked upon as being traitors and would be one of the first ones to be exterminated? Little wonder the world judges the US of A by hollow Hollywood standards! Hollywood is nothing but a cesspool! Thank God there are those that are trying to change this and we should support these good folks w/our prayers!

A Real Man Speaks

Jim Brown the Football player, who was and is one of the toughest men ever on planet earth said "... a liberal will cut off your leg so he can hand you a crutch."

Wisdom from a 'Real Man' NOT a 'Girly Man'.

MadMook: Typical liberal!! Cherry pick

one phrase, but leave out the pertinent point!!!

"We should be wary of celebrities with opinions. **** But there's just no comparison between such babble and, say, Charlton Heston's _Courage To Be Free_. None.**** "

With these idiot libs, they're either cherry picking, making things up, or just out-right lying.

Hollwood
used to pay for the USO, but now have a website asking us little people to foot the bill.

They are running short of money and can only afford three or four mansions now.

I really feel sorry for them because jail, rehab, abortions, cocaine & other drugs must cost a bundle.

I used to think Cher was beautiful
I used to think Cher was beautiful. Then I realized that she was beautiful and dumb. The only thing that changed is she is no longer beautiful.
Vote with your wallet folks. Fame takes money. No money...no fame.

Cher
I wonder if plastic surgery was deemed harmful to the environment would Cher stop getting the surgeries done. The more they talk the stupider they sound. Could it be they crave the attention? Believe me, I've stopped going and seeing their films the more they speak out on their political ideology the more the public has rejected their wares of “entertainment”.

Hollywood and the more they open their mouths and spit out their liberal garbage, the less likely the public will spend their hard earned money for the cause celeb. All of them and if you ask for specifics they appear dumbfounded as to why they hate conservatives and Republicans. We know they are full of crap. It’s just a shame they still don’t realize that the public doesn’t care.

During the 80’s and the Reagan era, they all came out and protested his policies. They told us he was a horrible man. Cher and her comrades made claims that his policies caused homelessness. Cher at the time owned 7 houses, 7… The likelihood that she would be able to sleep in them at the same time was nil. Martin Sheen, he’s a good actor and an outspoken liberal activist and was Mayor of Santa Monica invited some homeless men into his home to “help them out” and he gather his fellow liberal friends to do the same. How many listened to him and invited them into their homes? Zero. He said he was disappointed but wanted them to see that they were pure hypocrites. Bring those filthy, dirty people into my home? No way, eike. At the time and wondered why Cher didn’t give up one of her homes so these “poor innocent victims of Reagan’s policies” would have some place to stay and sleep. She called Mr. Sheen an idiot for pushing these criminals into the innocent celebrities beautiful homes.

That incident showed me what hypocrites the Hollywood/Malibu/Beverly Hills crowd were and they are still that way.

Mod Mark?
"Screw than all I say, left and right."
--------------------------------------

You do realize the Hollywood "Right" is almost never heard?

In Fairness (actual real life fairness), the opinions of the Hollywood "Left" would need to be muzzled for the next 40 years in order to bring the balance of opinion back to the center.

Don't sugar-coat what is currently a Leftist march toward the elimination of liberty - and the injection of mass brain-washing - into every home, school, and workplace in America.

George Orwell warned of "animal-speak" such as yours.

Carlos: I doubt that MadMook has ever

read Orwell, or any other classic for that matter.

In fact, I doubt that the Mook has actually ever read a BOOK (except comic books, perhaps.)

But, a week or so ago the Mook did comment that he didn't take TH seriously, and pretty much admitted to being the ignorant jerk we've known him to be.

All the Mook has is "animal speak" and cheap, ignorant, foul verbiage, written on a prepubescent level.

(And to think everyone is up in arms about this idiot women in CA who had all those babies? People should be just as up in arms about people like the Mook have any kids at all. That's child abuse too!)

Celebs
might be smart, have substantial wealth, and plenty of fans and friends, but when it comes to politics, well, you saw it in this election.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6urw_PWHYk

This video is showing Matt Damon ripping on Sarah Palin.

here are other celebs endorsing Obama

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5_Hga1rOas&feature=related

There are some on the right in Hollywood. Just a suppressed minority though. I already saw a video at Target with Obama on it. I'm wondering when Hollyweird will make more movies about Obama and his 'fight' for the presidency. Maybe they'll have Lincoln visit him in a dream, saying that he's the only "Hope" to "Change" America and socialism is the only way. Maybe his racist pastor will have his words changed from God D@mn America to God Bless America. Yeah, you can tell I don't like Hollywood too much.

Will the madness never end?
I saw an article this week that actor Val Kilmer is considering a run for office in New Mexico (can't remember if it was for governor or senator). And given the sad state of our choices for elective office it's no surprise more and more people (especially the uneducated young who are infatuated with celebrity and youth) are willing to vote for celebrities.

With a world filled with pols like Blagojovich, Frank, Dodd, Daschle, Bush to name just a few, could celebrities be any worse? At least the celebs are too stupid to steal/lie effectively and will be easier to catch than the current crop of weasels we've got in there.

Conservatives Greatest Mistake

The greatest mistake we conservatives have ever made, is thinking all American Citizens want to be hardworking and responsible citizens like us.

It appears that about 1/2 of America believe in personal irresponsibility and living off the backs of those who work.

While people all over the mid west were freezing and without electricity, President Obama said "Lets Party" and had $100 a pound steaks flown in.

While President Obama declares that "America is in survival mode" and "If we don't act fast, America may NOT survive without my stimulus plan" - Obama said "Lets Party" and goes out on the town, while others try to sift through his plan until all hours of the night.

Maybe President Obama's job is above his pay grade?

The Gollywood crowd is so far removed from reality, that they must drink from the same fountain as our beloved politicians. They all live in gated mansions, far away from the madding crowd. Hired help does their shopping for them. Drivers drive them in limos. They are experts on the average American. They are in Gollywood for the make believe world is reality to them. They do not have a clue.

There are still some cabinet appointees
positions available? Cher, Sean Penn, George Clooney, Richard Gere, P Diddy (or whatever his name is this week) and Ashley Judd it's still not too late to throw you name into the ring.

These idiots that say Republicans are rich is another misnomer they love to rally about but the true reality is that the liberals are the “rich” ones who abused the capitalist system in our Country and once they made or stole their millions, they want to remove the capitalist system so the rest of us cannot. The men/women on Wall Street and the Corporate Executives who ran their Companies into the ground, WERE ALL LIBERALS AND LIBERAL DONERS. George Soros, Warren Buffet and the demigods of billionaires are all liberals; donate to other liberals and their causes. Let’s say it all together H Y P O C R I T E S!

Ms Ann the list you provided doesn’t include a number of names of A-list actors and numerous Country singers, rap artist and pop stars. There are twice as many missing from that list. But, thanks for including it so I know who else to watch and listen too.

Doc Liberty – Yes, we all have a right to shoot off our mouths but we don’t have the media clamoring to seek our opinions. I don’t remember the last time Entertainment Tonight or E! News was outside my home wanting my opinion about our new President.

Who would have thought that it was Sonny the brains of that duo?

Eric-CO: "There are some on the right in
Hollywood. Just a suppressed minority though."

The Hollywood right.. Suppressed, YES! Minority, NOT NECESSARILY.

Here's a partial list:

However, all of these celebrities do not support the Liberal cause."

Don't worry
Don't worry about the deadwood in Follywood: they're just coming to find that they live in a real world - Madoff helped them find the "EASY" button, and it seems like the loss of a few million dollars has made even Hanoi Jane madder than usual. Do they think they can keep crapping on capitalism - particularly the creative, ingenious, inventive kind of capitalism that actually builds things that people will buy and sell - and it won't crap on the results? That their own portolios - even invested in real companies - won't generate a profit?

And when they make anti-CIA movies like Rendition, and they expect people to choose a career in a profession that may make the difference between a healthy nation and one that looks like a glass ashtray after a fire?

When we are attacked - again - and a state of emergency is declared, our Constitution a thing of the past, we can thank the brilliant minds of Follywood. We'll likely all be in the same camps, so you may be able to thank them personally.

Barack Obama is the 'Poster Child' for Freedom of Speech for anything Liberal, everything else is 'Hate Speech'.

The Obama Doctrine of Leadership: 'When the going is tough, 'Lets Party'.

Anne ... Mod Mark ...

Mod Mark attempts to lure in the unsuspecting with comments - which on the surface appear benign - only to latch on like a bloodsucking leech.

His goal is singular: Soak up attention at any cost. Whether that attention is admiration or hate, there is no difference to him. His personality is of his own construct, omnipotent.

He is after one thing... Ego Food!

See Mark - I know how your mind works. I know why you're here. The sad loneliness of living apart from the human race is too much to bear alone.

Desolation?

Irisheyes: Here's more! :-)

You're right... we all have a right to "shoot off our mouths," but what most liberals forget is that with that "right" there is some "responsibility" to at least be aware and informed about WHAT they're shooting off their mouths ABOUT!

Yesterday Malkin had a column about Ashley Judd's comments about hunting wolves in Alaska.

All it took was some (little) effort to check out the Alaskan Wildlife Fish and Game site to find out what this was all about... really!

Of course, I wasn't shocked about what that ill informed Judd said, and I probably shouldn't have been shocked at how ill informed and uneducated many of the leftist posters were on the subject.

The point is, especially IF you're a celeb, like an athlete, with the celeb status comes the "role model" thing.. and with that comes the responsibility to be at least informed.

Anne
Haha, I knew good 'ol Ted Nugent was on there. I've heard him on Dennis Miller, he is hilarious. Plus I wonder if he'd go hunting with Sarah Palin. I definitely would! I just hope that list grows with the continuing idiocracy of our current president. I wonder why I only heard some of the endorsements of these celebs on radio, but not on the msm? That's why the "fairness doctrine" is wanting to be passed by the liberals.

Celebrites and Entertainers
who go political prove that they are just plain stupid. When they open their big, ignorant mouths they not only insult a good portion of their fans, and loose them as their audience, but they also loose customers for any company that would hire a celeb who's toxic to half of America to advertise their product. It's double trouble.

Healing vs. Dividing
I HOPE we can heal this country by CHANGING back to a limited government republic (Amendment 10 and Article 4, Section 4). Under this unlimited "wonderful" democracy, any group can buy and steal 50.01% of the votes and then force other people's stuff into their pockets and/or force everyone to march in lockstep with their vision of America.

The left wing of Control Freaks Unanimous makes half the country angry, and the right wing of Control Freaks Unanimous makes the other half angry. What happened to the goal of Americans for individual freedom/responsibility?

Why do we start by forcing all (unless they are wealthy) children to study the propaganda chosen by 50.01% of the voters?

Mod Mark.. I see I pegged you...

like the bad penny you are :-)

Here's the hammer:

"Appropriate benevolence and compassion toward others can only occur when there is a cohesive self in residence; who accepts that other people are separate from him, with thoughts, desires, wishes and beliefs that may not coincide with his own--and that those others have a right to be so."

The pain of a starving artist
Ann,

Anyone with a brain knows what Ms. Judd’s PSA was really about, and it wasn’t about the wild wolf population in Alaska. But, if Ms Judd just did a little bit of research she would have found that the wolf population is starving and they are killed to end their suffering. It’s just too bad we cannot do the same with the mindless celebrity population from Hollywood and New York, just end their suffering and ours, show our humane side and put them down. Just think of the reduction of the hot air could save our ozone layers and global warming if the idiots would just stop talking. It would work for me. We all know how much Hollywood wants to starve for attention, literally. Is that where the phrase “starving artist” originated? Her mom and sister (both conservatives) have my sympathies.

It Is Not Too Late - Part I
I spent about 90 minutes this morning emailing every member of the Senate. This is the first part of my email. Use it, if you want, and make whatever changes you like:

Dear Senator XXX:

According to the rosiest polls, only 37% want the current stimulus bill to pass. 45% are against any stimulus and the rest want a smaller package with significant cuts to pork and increases in real TAX CUTS.

These percentages reflect Democrats, Republicans and Independents. So, not even a large majority of Democrats are buying the need for this large stimulus package. The overwhelming majority of Americans are against more spending, even in the guise of a Compromise Stimulus.

Will it hurt? Of course, but consider what the CBO said:

"President Obama's economic recovery package will actually hurt the economy more in the long run than if he were to do nothing, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said Wednesday.
CBO said the House and Senate bills will help in the short term but RESULT IN SO MUCH GOVERNMENT DEBT THAT WITHIN A FEW YEARS THEY WOULD CROWD OUT PRIVATE INVESTMENT; ACTUALLY, LEADING TO A LOWER GDP OVER THE NEXT 10 YEARS THAN IF THE GOVERNMENT HAD DONE NOTHING.

And...

"We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work. And I have just one interest, and now if I am wrong somebody else can have my job. I want to see this country prosper. I want to see people get a job. I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises. I say after eight years of this administration, we have just as much unemployment as when we started. And enormous debt to boot." ...

It Is Not Too Late - Part II
Treasury Secretary, Henry Morgenthau, angry at FDR's Keynesian spending, confided to his diary May 1939.

I was raised believing that America had not seen it greatest day, but, now, I am beginning to believe that our future fails to hold any hope for sunny days ahead.

Please, on behalf of my children and their children, do not vote for this stimulus package. Pres. Clinton tried to pass a meager $35B, which was rebuffed by Republicans, and the 1990s were pretty good with out it.

The only way that Goverment will be able to pay for our debt, including unfunded programs like Social Security and Medicare, is if 99% of Americans follow the Jim Jones theory. Perhaps, if we drink the suicidal Kool-Aid, then what is left the Government will be able to garner enough money from death taxes to pay off our debt.

I beg you. No, I IMPLORE you.

"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not." Thomas Jefferson

What democracy?
Of course "The democracy [which our founders did NOT create] will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."

All democracies end that way, and that may be one of the reasons our founders rejected de-mob-ocracy and established a limited-government (Amendment 10) republic in Article 4, Section 4. All unlimited democracies empower three wolves and a sheep to vote on what to have for dinner.

God save our REPUBLIC.

abortion
you all had a republican president and control of both houses of congress and a very divided supreme court. seems to me that if someone wanted to do something about abortion that was the time to try. instead all we got was lip service. you folks are po'd at the wrong people. you should be mad at bush and the republicans for not doing anything. as for actors being politicians i agree. ronald reagan had no business sticking his nose into politics.

FDR
You can keep making the mistake of repeating the lie that FDR's spending in the pre war years was what laid the foundation for the greatest economic system known to man. However, that will never make it true.

Eric-CO @1:06PM: Yes, I knew "Nuge"

was a good, solid Conservative. :-)

I've never been a fan of his music, but I do LIKE him a lot.

There is no question that he'd go hunting with Palin, and no doubt LOVE every minute.

The Nuge has, for the past several years, worked with several other (foreign) governments on wildlife management issues so they can use wildlife to feed and sustain people.

The big push will come (I believe) when Bozo names Cass Sunstein as some "regulatory" cabinet member. Sunstein is an "animal rights" person who makes PETA look "normal." Sunstein believes that NO ONE should ever even own a pet, so eating any kind of "meat... fish... or chicken" is out of the question....

THAT is when the NRA and The Nuge will be making their unhappiness known.

"That's why the "fairness doctrine" is wanting to be passed by the liberals."

Aaaah yes, the "Censorship Doctrine!" That's another one of Sunstein's pet projects!!!

Remember how the libs kept saying it was ONLY going to concern talk radio? Well, they LIED!

Sunstein is ALL in favor of regulating the internet as well.....

This column is funny
There are how many movie stars who express their political opinions (horrors, who gave them THAT right?) and they comprise WHAT percentage of the population? Is it possible to find a more pointless, meaningless, stupid challenge?

And, if experience is what is supposed to provide constitutional rights for freedom of speech, what is that experience supposed to sonsist of?

Experience, substantive? Like Doug Giles, or Mike Adams, perhaps?

Carlos: MadMook pegged for "bad penny?"

Actually, Mook and IQ29, and some of the others are more like an outbreak of herpes...

They just keep coming back, again and again and again. :-)

before sarah goes hunting with sweaty teddy she might want to listen to his song stranglehold to get a idea where he is coming from lol.

I don't see how...
anybody can vote democrat! Especdially, those who claim to be "Christians"! Everytime these people vote for a democrat, they are voting in baby killers

Agree with you Ken
Celebrities should stick to what they are good at and that is reading a script. There are a lot of movies and programs I won't support, (by watching), anymore due to the views of the nit-wits who think they know more then what is going on in their luxury lifestyles.

This was such a racial elections, African Americans voted for him because he was half black and the whites, guilt.

I thought all these hot shots where going to leave the country if Bush was elected for a second term, when did they all get back?

Agree with Ken in post #1 & 84, how could any Christian voted for this man knowing full well what he was going to do. Abortion on demand, no parental consent and wait till he gives the gay community the right to marry. We may see the end days in our life time.

Cher
I read the interview with Cher. She sounds like a chlid. Rambling on and on about the messiah. Just the same mindset of the idiots who voted for him.

Poor thing, she has had so many face lifts, she can barely move her lips to talk. She,Pelosi and Biden must have the same surgeons.Botox and scalpels. Keep you looking younger. Maybe he gave them a lobotomy, also.

Anne :-)

Did they take the 'Rush' lyrics too far?

"One must put up Barriers - To keep Oneself intact"

Sure, we all put up mental barriers to protect from physical and emotional pain.
The trouble begins when Liberals overreach (as always).

Their excessive barriers became 'Blocks' - 'Blockading' the light of truth from reaching their Delusions.

Like they say, "too much of a good thing..."

Anne
"Ron Silver is another example, along with Norris."

Right. I mentioned Heston's book mainly because it's in this room.

"Check out THIS site for a partial list of Conservative celebs. You'll be surprised!

I'll say. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sarah Michelle Gellar are conservatives?

"The interesting thing is, however, you don't hear these Conservative celebs using their 'celeb status' to mouth off."

"If and when (the MSM allows them) we hear them speak on their political views, you'll find they're INFORMED, and actually have something with substance to say."

Indeed. Mouthing off -- saying uninformed, ridiculous, inappropriate, or pointlessly provocative things, often at high volume or at great length -- is a practice I associate more with Al Franken, Michael Moore, or Janeane Garofalo than with Lynn Swann or Kelsey Grammer.

cher
Who's she?

I think the people in california has such good ideas about who they want to lead them, as is shown by their choice of gov.

Hollowood? Is their any one there with any common sense?

Holloheads would be more like it.

Movies nowadays stink!

To An American Liberal 8:49
Are you insisting that the way for a conservative critic to avoid hypocracy would be to identify an equal number of inane remarks by conservatives, in or out of Hollywood, and point them out?

The problem with your theory is that there are significant intellectual differences between a conservatives and liberals. Conservatives recognize fundamental reality, that truth is innate, rights are divinely endowed, human dignity is metaphysical and not a product of governmental concessions, and the human condition is subject to the reality of sin and can not be perfected for a man made utopia.

Liberals need a level of wilful shallowness and ignorance to deny fundamental reality. To be charitable, this makes them infinitely more amusing.

RANDOM THOUGHTS ON HOLLYWEIRD

.....Cher looks like the survivor of a botched coat hanger abortion ...

.....Ted Turner must be a genius for buying all those old movie classics ....

.....Cher and Juggs are empty headed bimbos who can recite lines ...neither can put themselves in the same acting category as Ingrid Bergman or Audrey Hepburn ...

.....Hollyweird has been dumbed down to the intellectual level of its public school educated audience ...name me one picture in the last decade that can match the dialogue in "It Happened One Night" .....COLOSSUS

american liberal
Chuck Norris at least had salient, thought-out points to make. Cher doesnt' seem to organize her thoughts any clearer than my 10-year-old.

Both Chuck and Cher have freedom of speech and may say anything they want. However, Chuck at least tries to base his opinion on thought, reason and fact while Cher -- not so much.

It's like those two rappers who made those racist comments on inaugeration night. My daughter is 16 and smart. She recognized it immediately as racism. But some of her classmates declared it the most intelligent opinion they'd ever heard. Not becuase it was intelligent (it was lewd and shallow), but because it came from those particularly celebrities who are apparently a big deal with some demographics. Those teens would never listen to Chuck Norris even though his ideas are a million times more thought out than that of the rappers.

And therein lies the problem. The uneducated and lazy masses, particularly the young who are developing their worldview, are absorbing this low quality unintellectual opinion as gospel because it gets played because of popularity of the celebrity when well-thought-out opinion is utterly ignored.

I'd be fine with Cher and Chuck BOTH shutting up, but I think Cher needs to do it first.

My son,
who is in agreement with me on the Hollywood scumbags, ask me,--how many George Clooney types it woud take to make a John Wayne or a Jimmy Stewart.

I told him that was not a valid question because John Wayne & Jimmy Stewart were not made of excrement.

Like, Cher
Poor Cher....another Hollywood celeb who, like, has grown old, but, you know, never matured.

baseballdoc
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy had some great dialogue amid the action sequences. Amazing Grace and Luther both presented deep ideas. My husband and I watched Traitor the other night and came to the conclusion that it was well-done and well-balanced.

Generally, however, modern American audiences can't sit through a movie that's dialogue heavy. They just don't have the attention span or the vocabulary. My daughter, 16, invited friends over to watch Casa Blanca and had to keep pausing the movie to explain it to them. Both girls are straight-A students, which I would love to be able to say of my daughter, but she had to explain the dialogue, the back story and the larger world events around the movie to them. I'm thinking is sort of ruined the whole experience for all three of them.

Celebrities can give their opinion but..
They should have to defend it in an open forum just as most "ordinary" people have to. The problem is they are sheltered from the hecklers in the crowd or it is magically edited out. I think the reason why so many people are turned off by their opinions is because they are not thought out or well reasoned. Many of them like Cher just parrot sound bites many of their syncophants talk about.
Recalling famous events, many people objected to the Dixie Chicks expressing their political opinions because the forum was at a concert which was billed to be about their music not about their political opinions. The media objected to many radio stations boycotting playing their music, that they were only expressing freedom of speech. Dixie Chicks music sales suffered and concert tickets dropped, many venues closed because sales were poor. People voted with their dollars and feet.

Celebrities should learn there are consequences to actions and opinions. Freedom of speech is a right but freedom from consequences are not. Whenever they speak out with their inane comments, they should be called to task to defend their opinions, be heckled, or lose business.

Hollow Indeed
I like Cher as an entertainer. I'm sad for her as a person that she has not found peace with Christ and the forgiveness that she needs. Sad also for her grandmother and mother. From a spiritual point of view, it appears that a stronghold or bondage has come down through the generations.

Celebrities are the last ones who should even comment on politics. They are so far removed from any sense of reality.

I don't think Cher is a bad person. I just wish the lady would shut up and sing.

Thinkingman
Does your edict apply to Limbaugh, who to my knowledge has never ventured beyond the bubble of his studio or friendly news outlets like Fox?

Many Of Us Are Downright "Unpatriotic."
Obama: 119,000,000 Americans unpatriotic.

Well, it’s like this: When you compliment three Republican Senators for planning to vote for your debt bill, and you make that compliment using the term "patriotic" it then follows that you are implying that the people who aren’t voting for said bill are UNPATRIOTIC. From that, it follows that the people who don’t support the bill are UNPATRIOTIC, TOO. There are roughly 300 million people in this country: CBS News told us that 39% of them (and rising) don’t support the Democrats’ debt bill. That works out to 119 million people who aren’t patriotic enough for the President of the United States.

Note that I’m being nice in my choice of polls, here. Rasmussen reports that Obama’s unpatriotic list would be somewhere around 129 million; Gallup has it at 51 million outright traitors, and 111 million of doubtful loyalties. And that’s just this week; how many traitors will there be the next?

Since bin Biden claimed that it is "patriotic" to pay taxes, how many employed by the O'Ad. are unpatriotic? I mean, just think, of all of the Cabinet Secretaries, with tax problems.

We don't--
We don't go to the movies because we would be putting money in the hands of the libs. But some people call us too conservative for this reason. This to me is the same as a person who gripes about the drug king pins, but takes up for his idols who get caught with drugs in their car, saying,"well, they didn't hurt anyone". Hypocrites!!!!! Granted, some movies that are documentary are not all bad if they stick to the known facts.
As for worrying about the elephant house in L.A., I would rather have the elephants than the illegal alien trash that resides there.

the problem
With Brent's synopsis is it would discredit Ronald Reagan. Of course (at least in my view) he is correct. Most people who have a business, work in a big business, or work for some governmental agency have a much better idea about how policies work than a A list (or even B list) actor. How would an actor have any real idea about how the world works? This is especially the case if an actor (singer, entertainer, etc.) became famous at age 23 or so.

Roy from IL
You are an uninformed dullard.

Republicans re-introduce the Human Life Amendment every year, no matter who is president, along with other prolife bills. When a Republican is in the White House, they are signed and become law, as several were during Bush's administration. The Born Alive Infant Protection Act was one, which the current prodeath advocate in the White House opposed while a Senator. When a Dumbocrat is in office, prolife protections are repealed, typically through exective order. The Mexico City Policy, requiring taxpayers to fund abortions worldwide, is an example. This, after Obama has continued to tell us that we are in the worst economy of the last "50 years". That makes sense - when the economy is struggling, make taxpayers fund abortions world-wide. Dumbocrats are so beholden to the abortion industry that they can't wait to make all of us pay for the death of thousands more unborn children. Clinton did the same thing, within days of assuming office, while Bush Sr. and Jr. both reinstituted the prolife policies.

But I wouldn't expect a dufus like you to actually do research before opening your mouth and inserting both feet.

Roy from IL (continued)
Abortion is an intrenched evil, like slavery was. Many people who are otherwise opposed to it profit from it, and become morally weak in the knees when it comes to ending it. People who have money invested in stock which profits from abortion, through the manufacture of equipment used to kill babies, people who own buildings that are leased or rented to baby killers, etc..... are not likely to stand up and oppose something, no matter how evil it is, when they are financially benefitting from that evil. Many people benefitted from slavery as well, but didn't actually own slaves, and they were reticent to oppose that which lined their pockets. Politicians, even some Republicans, sadly, get money from the abortion industry and it makes them less likely to vote to protect the unborn.

As to your comment about Reagan, that pretty much absolves any TH reader from here on out
from taking anything you might say seriously.
What a moron.

Bryce1
What is it about liberals that prevents them from thinking and reasoning?

Bryce1, in his perpetual dullness, hasn't got the brains to figure out that Rush Limbaugh is a political commentator who is so good at what he does, that he has become a celebrity. The people Brent is referring to start out as celebrities and then decide to comment on politics.

Thinkingman made good points in his post, the first sentence being:

"Celebrities can give their opinion but..
They should have to defend it in an open forum just as most "ordinary" people have to."

Thinkingman's point is that people should have to 'defend their views in an open forum.'

Which Rush does every day, for three hours, on his radio show, and has been doing for nearly 20 years.

Bryce1, you're out of your league in even trying to take on Limbaugh on any level. You might try calling into his show and trying, though. That would be thoroughly entertaining to hear him make a fool out of you. Well, you're already there, but it would be fun to hear him expose you as the fool you are.

History lesson - REAL heros
Alec Guiness (Star Wars) operated a British Royal Navy landing craft on D-Day.

James Doonan (Scotty on Star Trek) landed in Normandy with the U.S. Army on D-Day.

Donald Pleasance (The Great Escape) was hot down held prisoner and tortured by the germans

David Niven was a Lt. Colonel of the British Commandos in Normandy

James Stewart Served as a bomber pilot, leading more than 20 missions over Germany. He earned the Air Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross, France's Croix De Guerre and 7 Battle Stars.

Clark Gable was beyond draft age when the war broke out. He enlisted as a private. He went to OCS and eventually was assigned to the 351st bomb group and flew operational missions over Europe in B-17s.

Charlton Heston was an Army Air Corps Sergeant in Kodiak.

Ernest Borgnine was a U.S. Navy Gunners mate 1935-45.

Charles Durning earned a Purple Heart and a Silver Star at Normandy.

Charles Bronson was a tail gunner on B-29s out of Guam, Tinian and Saipan.

George C. Scott was a decorated U.S. Marine

Eddie Albert was awarded a Bronze Star at the battle on the island of Tarawa in the Pacific.

Brian Keith served as a U.S. Marine rear gunner in several actions against the Japs on Rabanal in the pacific.

Lee Marvin earned the Purple Heart (NOT like John Kerry!!) during the Marians campaign.

Tyrone Power joned the Marines and was a pilot flying supplies into and wounded Marines out of, Iwo Jima and Okinawa.

I would give you the list of medals won by Audie Murphy but I have run out of room.

question
after looking at the picture of cher with purple hair and white makeup and then adding this to the fact that she is north of 60 years old, I have a question:

why would anyone in his/her right mind take anything this woman says seriously? I just don't get it.

Dumbest of the Dumb
Entertainment celebrities are among the least educated, most mentally deficient airheads in our population. The next time you see one taking a stance on politics, climate change, Green ecology or anything else other than their entertainment specialty Google their biography and check them out for the proof of my opening sentence.
Why anyone pays any attention to them at all other than in their entertainment roles is beyond me. I can only guess it is because those who do so are less educated and dumber than the entertainment celebrities or at their same level of fairy tale living in dream worlds far removed from reality.

Baseballdoc
I can name two moves. Passion of the Christ, and Bravehart. Maybe the dialog is not to your standards, but they were great moves. Please don't take this wrong, but not all celbs are as dumb as rocks, most maybe, but not all. But Thinkingman is right they should have to defend there ideas. I listen to talk radio, and they are constantly defending there ideas. IE; Dennis Pregger, Mike Medved, Mike Galeger ect.
Kirk

Men and Abortion
I don't know about Cher's comment that if men could get pregnant we wouldn't be having this conversation. I recall a feminist some years ago commenting that if men could get pregnant abortion would be a sacrament.

I know plenty of men who along with their wives are very paternal and are proud to be fathers. Abortion is not exclusively a female thing or a male thing.

Al Franken Admits $50,000 Tax Debt

Friday, February 6, 2009 2:39 PM

By: Ronald Kessler Article Font Size

Overlooked in coverage of Tim Geithner’s and Tom Daschle’s unpaid taxes is the $70,000 that Minnesota Democratic senatorial candidate Al Franken has admitted to owing in back taxes, interest, and penalties.

Last April, the California Tax Franchise Board revealed that Franken owed the state $5,800 in taxes, fines, and penalties because he did not file returns in 2003 through 2007. Franken then admitted that he owed more than $50,000 in back taxes to 17 states.

Franken blamed everything on his accountant of 18 years, saying he failed to report the income from the comedian’s celebrity appearances and speeches in those states where he made money outside of Minnesota and New York, where he lives. Franken claimed he overpaid taxes in those two states and will file for refunds.

But the accountant, Allen Chanzis, has not verified Franken’s account. In fact, he has said he was told not to talk to the press. Nor has Franken released any documentation

Most artists are so dumb; yet, they believe that most people are bowled over by their genius. Cases in point: The Dixie Chicks and Ashley Judd.

The Ahrnold never would have been elected as a RINO. All it took was for The Terminator amass money and fame.

And, now, Val Kilmer, is thinking about running for Governor. He, actually, said, "if I choose to run, I will be Governor!" Of course, he has neither the money nor the fame.

A few weeks ago, a bandmember was shot and killed on stage here in New Orleans. Hollywood, et al, should take notice that people are unmoved by their opinions. Further, people don't want to spend a lot of money to hear actors, actresses, or singers ranting about their political beliefs.

Shut up and sing, already.

Mod - Conserving Ammo?
"Holster your gun once awhile and try to have a conservation."

So, if I holster my gun, wouldn't you agree that I AM trying ... conservation?

Sonny and Cher
It is now clear to me why they split up. sonny was a level headed guy. He entered politics as a conservative.

Cher seems to be an airhead. How would you like to listen to that Elephant drivel over coffee.

Subjectivity gone mad...
Yesterday at work I listened in on a conversation between two liberals which went along the lines of "When McCain or Bush would get out of their cars they would be straightening their coats but while Obama gets out he would be holding his briefcase and seemed eager to get to work". I listened to this wonderful insight and other gems of irrefutable logic and depth and thought to myself- "Liberalism is the about the dumbest set of values and expectations a person can hold to, as it takes only the democratic label and syrupy words and gestures to make the case for whatever wrong headed value being espoused." For example "Who do you think has started more wars or had more deaths in the administration of the wars, democrats or republicans?" or "Who was more prominent at the civil rights marches of the 60's - democrats or republicans?' or this one "Who was in power longer at the worst economic times in our country's history- democrats or republicans?' these and other similar questions come down to an understanding of history and a knowledge of past events. The answer to 1 and 3 is democrats, and the answer to 2 is republicans. Now this doesn't mean republicans haven't done stupid things or that certain democrats haven't been excellent leaders, but it does show you how STUPID (and willfully so) are so many hollywood types and their followers. The Oprahization of our culture is a BAD thing as emotion has replaced thought as a decisionmaking tool for many people. Anyway, I have decided if a person I am speaking to cannot or especially will not use reason and or logic to defend their positions- the conversation is over. I may be a very lonely individual in the near future, but at least my sanity wont be threatened.

annfan
why can't you just admit that i am right in that republicans pay a lot of lip service to abortion to satisfy their base and to get elected but don't really pay to much attention to it once they are in office? why didn't bush sign a statement banning all abortions in the us where the signing statement then would have been taken to the supreme court where there was a chance, albeit a slim one that roe v. wade would be overturned?

Hollywood
Laura Ingraham said it all in her book's title: "SHUT UP AND SING"

Because
you pick your fights that maybe you can win. Roy you just stated it would be a slim one that roe v. wade would be overturned. You have to pick the ones that have more chance of winning, working your way up to the top.

Hollywood
Only 49%? No wonder the country is in such a bad shape.

Operation Helmet
Make fun of Cher all you want, but she is a heck of lot more concerned about our soldiers' well being than W and Dick ever were.

How exactly do you support THAT ridiculous assertion?

Hollow-wood by Brentwood...
It's astonishing that anyone would/could listen to Cher with any reasonable amount of seriousness or credibilty. She's certainly entitled to her flimsy opinion about politics,{etc} but does she really think anyone, who knows anything, would listen. Oh, perhaps child-rearing!! The zoo keeper was right. Let Cher talk about her music and people will listen, let her talk about politics and she wouldn't sell a single record. By the way, her first husband was a Republican; how "sonny" it is on the other side!!
