Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

President Bush came before the White House press corps for the last time on Jan. 12 to thank them for doing their jobs. This exercise was akin to thanking the sharks who ate you.

The president said he didn't always like the stories that were generated, "but always, the relationship, I have felt, has been professional." Walking in the footsteps of his father, he'd politely unfurled an obvious fib in a display of social graces.

Always professional? President Bush didn't draw any attention to Helen Thomas in the front row as he praised the media for their never-failing professionalism. Helen's accusatory rants at White House spokesman Ari Fleischer about the president's bloodthirsty ways were legendary, like this one in 2003: "Why does he want to drop bombs on innocent Iraqis?" She lectured Bush directly in 2006: "Your decision to invade Iraq has caused the death of thousands of Americans and Iraqis, wounds of Americans and Iraqis for a lifetime." She wanted to know if the "real reason" he caused all these deaths and injuries was for oil, or for Israel.

The media's abusive coverage wasn't personal? Try Dan Rather, or Rather's old White House hand puppet, John Roberts (now anchoring at CNN). In 2004, Rather first ran the sloppy, error-ridden National Guard hit piece, never telling his audience the president's primary accusers were political opponents with personal and political vendettas. Then Roberts publicly and dishonorably mocked the First Lady for doubting CBS: "Laura Bush offered no evidence to back up her claim, and CBS News continues to stand by its reporting." That was a "Mission Accomplished" event for the entire media, which lapped up the CBS hit piece until the bloggers started to unravel it.

And yet, of course, there are many in the White House press corps who have dutifully churned out their stories for years and traveled the globe with the president in virtual anonymity, reporters just reporting -- and nothing more. That said, it's also true that the reporters who gathered daily in the briefing room were overwhelmingly Democrats who never really wanted Bush to be there when they preferred Al Gore or John Kerry. Many probably felt he was undemocratically imposed by the Supreme Court in 2000.

Republican presidents take a beating from the press and still praise them for their professionalism, even when some of them don't deserve it. Democratic presidents can be just the opposite: The media coverage is generally good, yet still they whine. Bill Clinton expected the royal treatment, and mostly received it. When he didn't, he was furious. (Remember him denouncing the "knee-jerk liberal press" in Rolling Stone?) President Bush received about a month of respect -- right after Sept. 11. Clinton was treated with respect by reporters even after he was impeached.

For eight years, President Bush rarely raised a peep of public protest against the media's partisanship (save his sneaky photo holding a copy of Bernard Goldberg's insider expose, "Bias.") Now, even as he praised the media's professionalism, his resentment at the inaccuracy of long-established liberal media templates erupted in his final press conference.

Bush grew agitated as he remembered the press pounding him for seeing Hurricane Katrina damage from the sky on Air Force One without landing in Louisiana. He said -- correctly -- that had he actually landed in Baton Rouge, it would have required police to leave the disaster scene to protect him, and reporters would have savaged him for that. No matter what the president did or didn't do, he was going to be attacked.

The president was also very animated in protesting the media's similar no-win approach to terrorist surveillance. After 9/11, the executive branch was excoriated by the press for having failed to make the al-Qaeda connections and prevent it all. "And then we start putting policy in place -- legal policy in place to connect the dots, and all of a sudden people were saying, How come you're connecting the dots?'"

Bush's media critics are crowing about his legacy lying in tatters. Bush responds with his stubborn confidence that history will vindicate his administration. But how to explain Bush's sudden interest in interviews? With only days left before the moving vans file out, he's decided to go public and publicly defend himself.

Why didn't he start doing this seven years ago, when it would have mattered?

"W" is no Gertrude!
George W. Bush is a class act. His birth came with breeding. Like his father and grandfather, he understands that duty is defined by diligence to task. He has allowed many to speak and degrade him as he kept focused on the furrow at hand.

I believe that he will now, unfettered by the propriety of the office, speak point to point on all aspects of his record.

While President he would not chide Ms. Thomas. As private citizen, he may figuratively escort her and her like to the glue factory.

Say what you will, this President has not been defensive or given to protest in lieu of performance.

Would that his successors have the same class.

That you do not recognize
and readily ascertain the play on Thyssen and "The Arms of Krupp" should give you pause as to whether you should have an opinion on this subject.

Nuances are the distinctions that separate the differences.

vonryan
Thyssen and Krupp have about as much to do with your "breeding" comment about President Bush as does mentioning Cornelius Livense and Brown Brothers Harriman connections to the Nazi's. But you probably know that.

Nuances are actually slight or subtle degrees of difference.

The mark of a good Press

The mark of good press reporting is how well educated the population is.

We know that Liberals who predominately watch Liberal media outlets are not well informed and educated about issues thanks to severla polls that have been done since the election.

So if the population is ignorant, then we can only conclude the Liberal media has not done its job.

Interesting dichotomy
GWB was one of the most conscientous yet incompetent, bold yet cynical politicians I've ever seen. When he did something right, he rarely got credit and got trashed by the press; thus, when the criticism of him was valid, many people were hardened to the actual substance of the issues.

I would say that Bush's biggest problem was his valuing of loyalty over competence. Rumsfeld was a failure and should have been fired long before. Gonzales never should've been AG to begin with. And so on.

There's an old PJ O'Rourke line: "The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it." That, I think, sums of GWB perfectly.

Col. Billy
That woman at the McCain/Palin rally who said that Obama was a Muslim...and the thousands of idiots like her...how "well informed and educated about the issues" do you suppose she was and what media do you think she and the thousands like her watch and listen to?

It should be noted that McCain told her she was wrong and showed courage by pulling the microphone out of hand and refused to listen to her drivel.

re: tom
Unfortunately there are plenty of mis-informed or uninformed people on both sides of the aisle. I know that while I voted (enthusiastically) against Obama, I took every opportunity to chastise those spreading false info about Obama. But he was by no means monopolizing ignorant portrayals.

We have a real problem with people who choose to easily believe bad things about their political opponents without taking the time to learn the truth. This isn't a left or right phenomenon. There's no excuse for it in the era of the internet, but it seems to be getting worse, not better.

Tom,

Well it is clear that that woman was part of the 20% McCain supporters who were not well informed.

Its also clear from your posts on this board that you are part of the 60% of the Obama supporters that are not well informed.

What Plant is Bozell from?

Bozell's dishonesty is stunning. The press was abusive and Helen Thomas just tore Bush apart.

In reality, the Washington Press were a bunch of lapdogs when it came to Bush. During the campaign, they adored Bush and ridiculed Gore. In the lead up to the war, they were complicit in all of Bushes lies and crimes. During the war, they again were complicit in covering up the crimes (torture, illegal NSA spying, Downing Stree Memo) of Bush. Even now, they are still covering up his illegal activities (3 million missing emails, etc.)

This is nothing new. In contrast to Bozell's lies, the press has consistently favored republicans. The hated Carter, but Reagan was Mr. Teflon. The harassed Clinton about phony (republican-generated) scandals for eight years, but always let Bush off the hook.

It's quite simple to understand why. The major media are now parts of major corporations, and major corporations tend to favor republicans. As a result, there is consistent top-down pressure to bias the news in a pro-republican, anti-democratic way.

Mr. douglass has clearly lost touch with

REALITY!!!

"As a result, there is consistent top-down pressure to bias the news in a pro-republican, anti-democratic way."

Probably the most absurd statement any rational, reasonable, even semi-sane person could possibly make...

Mr. douglass is dangerously close to the edge.

Dr. Douglas
I have to agree with Anne: Dr. Douglas asks, "What plant is Bozell from?" (I think he means "planet"). And I would have to ask the same question of him!

The press has been pro-Bush, and pro-Republican, and anti-Democratic? Only on the Bizarro Planet, my friend. Only through the most twisted logic could one come to that conclusion.

I guess, from the "Dr." honorific that Douglas uses, though, we may be able to conclude that he is an academic of some sort (of course, he could be a proctologist. Not that there's anything wrong with that... but it would at least be a good indication of where his head is most of the time)

So, of course, if Doctor Douglas IS an academic, the rest of us must, of course, bow down to his superior intelligence when he makes his idiotic claims about how the press "adored" Bush and ridiculed Gore.

Dr. Douglas... if you truly believe what you're saying, then you, sir, are an idiot.

Dang Dr Douglas you nailed that
right wing mainstream media you know like the New york times and the Washington Post they certainly have been doting in there admiration for the Republicans............

ARE YOU BLOND?

Is Dr Douglass
Another comedy poster like Loyal Democrat? I don't think he has quite got the tone right yet as he does seem to come across as a liberal troll. Try making the jokes a little more obvious and the tone more tongue in cheek and you might just pull off a parody of a brainless liberal yet good Doctor.

I was glad that President Bush finally
defended himself. He should have done so all along and directly to the American public instead of to that group of partisan hacks in the press corp. But, theirs were not the only partisan attacks, both Reid and Pelosi as well as virtually all of the Democrats worked against this president. It is only now that they have their Democratic president that they call for bipartisanship out of one side of their face while the other side still plays pure politics with every issue.

And while the press has told us that President Bush is soooo unpopular, look at those same numbers for the new Reich in both houses of Congress.....with their single digit popularity. Don't hear much about that now do we? The Press wouldn't know how to be professional with directions!!

Farewell Mr.Bush
You are a good man and I know that when King O screws up you will be privately laughing your head off but in public you will be a gentleman.

In a generation where gentlemen are outnumbered 10-1 by opportunistic sleazy brats, you are a lighthouse.

Let us hear from you now and then, sir. And God bless you.

Thank-you President Bush and Mrs. Bush
Thank-you President Bush and Mrs. Bush.
You have reestablished Integrity, Class and Dignity in the White House.
I will be eternally grateful to you for keeping my family safe.
I have always felt pride and trust. I will always think of you as a true example of "Country First". Thank-you!

monkeyfish
Sadly, "Dr Douglas" is not a satirist. I would refer you to Doctor Michael Adams' column earlier this week for evidence. "Dr Douglas" is Douglas Derryberry, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Psychology at Oregon State University, an apparent socialist, and serious in his inane rants here on Townhall.

In the column I reference above, there is an e-mail from Derryberry to Doctor Adams, in which Derryberry addresses Doctor Adams, purpose(ful)ly as "Mr. Adams." This is a petty attempt to insult Doctor Adams' education, academic work, and character. Derryberry is evidently an ivory-tower academic and a very little man.

But what do I know? I'm just an M.D. and a board-certified psychiatrist with twenty-one and a half years of experience treating patients and owning and managing a medical practice.

I am now anxiously awaiting an e-mail from Derryberry, calling me "Mister."

Thanks Shrinque
For clearing up who that whack job loony tune is.

I feel that President Bush will be vindicated over time. I did not agree with all he did as President but he is a decent honest man who took on the terrorists and leaves with victory in Iraq. Besides keeping this country safe, he restored dignity to the White House after the Clinton Soap Opera years and looking at the incoming Clinton Cabinet and the ACORN President Elect who learned his politics in Chicago the next four years should be interesting no doubt. I hope I still recognize my country in four years.

President Bush's low popularity ratings are due to two things I believe; a constant drumbeat of negativity from the major media from whom many still get their propaganda, (its not news), and for some reason he didn't defend himself, nor did he get much support from others of his party. The old saying about repeating a lie long enough and it will become fact is certainly true in politics.
Katrina is a good example, instead of pointing out where the real problems lay, it all became Bush's fault. Ridiculous but it stood because it fit the template and no one changed the template.

GW TURNED ALL FOUR CHEEKS

.....AND STILL GOT BOOTED IN THE BUTT ...

.....He tried to make his enemies like him, they hated him more, and cost him the respect of his friends ...

.....I don't want my enemies to like me ...I want them to fear and respect me .....COLOSSUS

Dr Douglas
You might actually be a Doctor. You can't spell. I'll bet you writing is as illegible as you thinking. Oops. I actually gave you credit for some thought. Silly me.

President Bush
Good Morning Sir,
Thank You for keep America safe from Murdering Muslim Animals. IF you had to play rough with a few of them to get ACTIONABLE Intel, BFD! In a Fight to The Death, THERE ARE NO RULES! May you enjoy a LONG, Happy, Health, Retirement. Should ANY UN Types, (Portuguese Peter Puffers, Dutch Dopers, The French Track Team, etc) TRY to arrest you or VP Cheney. I will be VERY happy to come to Texas and help you resist arrest.

Helen Thomas in black and red
I am glad you cited "front row Helen" in your wrap up of President Bush's final goodbye to the press. The harsh (and many time unfair) treatment by some of these sharks may come back to haunt them in a year or two. And Helen Thomas' black and red outfit was probably a snarky attempt to further insult Mr. Bush, but it also could be taken as a kiss-up to the future first lady, as these were her colors of choice at a Chicago celebration. To each his own said Mrs. O'Leary when she kissed her cow.

TownHallers
Don't waste time on Dr. Dingleberry. It is like drinking coffee with a fork, a waste of time that is not worth the effort required.

To the end
the MSM has at it with Bush and the republicans. Just read an AP "reporter"who described the republicans as "struggling to stay relevant" in respect to the stimulous package, rather then having informed and principled solutions/objections. But according to Dr. Douglas that isn't bias.

Dr Douglas
says: "major corporations tend to favor Republicans"

I guess he missed that the second biggest contributors to Obama's campaign (after trial lawyers) was Wall Street (per Anne Coulter)

Bush;s final jab

The man is a light weight when it comes to defending and explaining his actions. He had seven years to explain and defend but, permitted himself to be slaughtered by the press. He failed himself and those who started out supporting him. The democrats will consider him to be there best friend.

Dr. Douglas
"During the campaign, they adored Bush and ridiculed Gore".

"They hated Carter but Reagan was Mr. Teflon".

Excuse me. Hmm,Hmm,Hmm,Hmm,Hmm. HA,HA,HA,HA,HA,HA,HA.

Sorry I held it in for as long as I could. Do you live in Wonderland? Should I ask you to look for Alice, The White Rabbit, and The Cheshire Cat while you're at it? Sorry but I can't debate someone so in a fantasy world of denial.

Mr. Bozell you make a point that I have long noticed. Republican presidents can indeed take a beating from the journalists and be gracious in response. The Democrats however want 100% positive treatment 100% of the time or they whine about it and play the victim card. It will interesting to see how Obama handles it even though the media has been so "in the tank" for him for so long.

As to your last point I too am a little frustrated that President Bush didn't defend himself publically earlier. But I suspect you have to let these things roll off you somewhat to be able to concentrate on the job or nothing would ever get done.

Mr. President, thank you for your service. I believe history will treat you much better than comtemporary journalism has. You and Laura deserve the rest you have earned. You have performed with class and as a gentleman and have brought honor to the office. Enjoy your retirement and let us hear from you often. God bless.

absolutely most stupid (read lib) commen

I think that the absolutely most stupid (read lib) comment on Katrina, was made after the Pres mentioned the other day, about all the people who had been rescued from rooftops.

One of the idiots on MSDNC said, approximately, “He can’t take credit for that. The Coast Guard was doing that on their own, Bush hadn’t ordered them to do that!”

Of course the Coast guard knew their business and what they should do in those conditions.

Unlike the Mayor of New Orleans who did have a school bus drivers license, so the buses sat there in the flooded parking lot. Neither the mayor nor his well trained (for bar fights) police even thought about trying to get people out of town.

Thank you Shrinque
Thank you for exposing Dr Daffy. Why am I not surprised that he is a socialist professor? As a psychiatrist can you tell us why some people have to use the these titles in front of their name? Years ago I was always amused when my daughter's grade school teacher would always address herself as Dr. Wilson, as if anyone cared. I long ago stopped referring to myself as Captain. Am I suffering from low self esteem?

You: The harassed Clinton about phony (republican-generated) scandals for eight years, but always let Bush off the hook.

Me: Yes I remember that Republican who pushed that girl under the desk, and the Rep who, in make-up and costume, stood before the judge and lied.

Need I go on?

You have heard the story that some people take on the features of people they see often. The poster above, has to go to a doctor so often for his incomprehensible stupidly, he snatched the title off the door.

Bozell asks ...
'Why didn't he start doing this seven years ago, when it would have mattered?'

This is the great unknown but it will certainly be a huge part of his legacy. Unfortunately, this reluctance to defend his actions, among other things, is largely the reason for the election of the Marxist BHO and the resultant mayhem BHO will cause is certainly going to be a postscript on Bush's legacy.

We elected Bush to lead and he was lead.

Meekness gone awry
I think Bush has been so difficult for the press to understand/appreciate precisely because of his goodness. His goodness and meekness, and genuine desire to make people happy and feel important, are construed by warped people to be cynical gamemanship. Their reaction to Bush says a lot more about them than him.

We've all seen the immature, idiotic teenager who hates his decent father. We have too many media types with warped minds and agendas. It is clear to me: there is a conspiracy among some in the media to push America to the Left by whatever means.

Obama isn't half the man Bush is, if what I am reading is true. He knew "kill him" never happened at a McCain rally, and yet brought it up cynically as a campaign issue. It gives you a snapshot into the man's mind. We will rue this election before the end of the second year.

Bush jabs = powder puff
The best I can say about Bush is that I don't think he deliberately set out to demonstrate before a world audience how incompetent a manager he was. I never thought I would be nostalgic about Bush Sr. The shrub makes him seem a titan of political acumen and ability.

Depending on your historical time line, Bush will be determined to be a catastrophe for the country. The tell all books from his loyalists will begin the dissection of his administration, followed by court ordered FOI access to fraudulently classified "National Security" documents. The ultra conservative right will be the last to to depart the wreck, declaring Bush to be a RINO and not really conservative, as if feigned ignorance of public facts will get them off the hook.

For 8 years, critics of the shrub have been called Traitors, Communists, Anti American... Tooth and Nail, members of this forum have defended every action he has taken, hurling those insults and worse. Over night Bush became a RINO and "not what we thought he was."

My prediction for the future? A republican congress passed a law limiting Secret Service protection for ex presidents to ten years after leaving office. Congress will either rescind outright or make a special exemption for GWB for life time security: he will need it.

Dr. Douglas
Many years ago, while I was still in the Air Force, I had a conversation with one of our base chaplains. He voiced his opinion that NPR was too conservative and showed too much favor toward Republicans. I did not argue with him but my jaw dropped and I changed the subject. What I now know—after attending graduate school for several years—is that people like him and Dr. Douglas, immerse themselves in extreme left-wing propaganda. Because of this, NPR and other MSM seem totally right wing to them. I don’t see any way of having a meaningful conversation with these people. Communication requires some common core of understanding.

bleeding f.a.r.t liberal
What is it about your freedom to go ballistic here that gives you a shred of credibility? Not very much in your lib hate rhetoric on Bush is documented truth. If your slant pleases you, trust others here to dismiss it as pure spite. You can't bear the truth, so you bleed from the basis of your biased thoughts. Down in it where the sun never shines.

Bleeding Heart - Words From The Swamp

Alas! Poor El Stupido (Sophie) couldn't follow the driving directions.

Mr. President, Mrs. Bush
Thank you for your service.

President Bush, I didn't always agree with your decisions but you are a patriot and a class act.

Bravo, Mr. President!

Tops in almost all categories of leader; you took the bad with the good; usually with a smile.

This denotes class. Certainly fitting for a son of the superb Barbara Bush. She had more class in one toe than the entire stack of Helen Thomas megaturd has. Bush is quite capable of comparing his tough as nails Mom with the hag in that first row. One disapproving word from Barbara Bush was cause for tears, and the whole slew of Helen's gross misconceptions never caused W a moment's pain. We should make no mistake about it; they all wanted W to whine and lose heart. But he wouldn't. He can't. He's got the heart of a lion, he got it from his mother. Thank God for such great women! Can anyone name a woman somewhere on the Left who can ever hope to give birth to lions? Barbara did it.

Bleading idiot Lib
Must all your type and low life tripe lie, lie, lie.
You know very well the critics of Pres. Bush did their damn dirty work to assist the Socialist scrounges in Congress.
Approaching me with that BS would not be to your benifit.

And your obvious indirect threats to President Bush are not in your favor.

WOW Bleeding Heart Liberal
Threatening the President of the United States!!?? WOW!

And all he needed was better Public....
Relations. From Hannity to Medved, I am hearing the same thing, "He just didn't present himself enough to the American people". Yes, that is exactly why Bush's ratings hovered around 27% for the last couple months. We just didn't "get him". After 8 years! Yes folks, it has nothing to do with the economic woes (which I know he didn't start, but he had the stearing wheel, and there was a brick wall heading our way), nothing to do with 2 wars, nothing to do with crumbling infrastructure and a record deficit. We just didn't take the time to get to know him enough. So sing it George W, "IF you dont know me by now! You will never, never, never know me! Ooooh oooh woohoo hoo!"

Bleeding Heart Liberal
you have been reported.

misguided liberals
-for all of you misguided liberals.

Enough of katrina, just where was your democrat mayor and governor. --- The Posse Comitatus Act passed by Congress in 1878 prevents a president from sending federal troops to a state without the governor’s consent.

The Democrat governor of Louisiana, refused to cooperate with President Bush when the president asked for her consent to begin a mandatory evacuation four days before the storm.

The Democrats in the Louisiana homeland security office also refused to let the Red Cross bring truckloads of food, water and supplies to the Superdome.

Since 1980, Louisiana emergency personnel knew that the levees in New Orleans would not withstand a category 3 or 4 hurricane. Yet, the Democrats in Congress filibustered President Bush’s energy bill which was introduced in 2001 and contained $540 million for repairing the levees in New Orleans."

"To their eternal shame, Democrats used the tragedy caused by Hurricane Katrina for their own partisan political gain.

While criticizing President Bush, Democrats turned a blind eye to the failures of the Democrats running the city of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana.

The black Democrat officials in New Orleans did not execute the emergency evacuation plan and allowed over 1,000 school buses and city transit buses to stay in parking lots and become ruined by the flood."

Face it! - the democrat party is not the party of your grandfathers. You are all brainwashed, kool-aid drinking sheep that believe everything the msm feeds you. ( The msm is controlled by punitive liberals and George Soros) Learn the facts once and for all!

Class Act
President Bush is truly a class act. He always did what he thought was right for the country - not himself.

President-elect Obama is now on the cover of Time for the thirteenth time this year. Anyone who does not think that the press is very partial to him is living in an alternate universe.

Is he a Muslim? I do not know. That is the problem. The press never seriously vetted him. I do not know who he is, but we are going to find out. He can not hide his positions forever.

And the real loser in these past few years is the MSM. As far as I am concerned, they do not exist.

Thank you President Bush....
What a gracious individual we have in President Bush. The press hated him because they just couldn't be hard enough and mean enough to hurt and discourage him. Some members of the Press Corp deserved nothing but rebuking from President Bush as he said his good-byes, yet he thanked and praised them all for their professionalism. That is a great man if I've ever seen one.

I admire President Bush and I'm so grateful for his love and total commitment to our country and all American people. Throughout his presidency he has loved Americans more than he has ever loved himself, always doing what he believed was best for us rather than concerning himself about popularity. Yes, sure, he made a few mistakes. Don't we all? No human being is infallible.

We have been so blessed to have such a strong and steady President these past eight years. Of course, some people wouldn't know a blessing if it landed in their lap. Well, go ahead, hate him if you wish, but one day the truth will come out and everyone will see the good President Bush has done for America. Everyone will understand eventually that he was just the man we needed in a President and Commander-in-Chief in such uncertain times.

Wouldn't you agree that we need to stand together now behind our new president? Let's put President Obama in the hands of the "God of all gods" and pray for divine guidance in all the hard decisions he has to make.

There are many gods out there to pledge allegiance to, but as for me and my family, we stand with the one who calls us to "love our enemies" and who also said to "do unto others as you would have others do unto you." That would be the God that Jesus taught us to pledge our allegiance to, just incase someone out there is wondering.

Thats Bush...thank god almighty the bushes are gone......
He is a liar
Arrogant
smarmy....democrat
all you socialists should love him
he locks up honest agents in favor of drug runners
he ruined our country and gave us obama

Bush's final jabs
Enough dear people. You have spoken. You have given us the following: Ayers; Barack; Fr. Flagler; Dodd; Barney's Frankness; Misses Bill Clinton(er, Princess Hilary), the guy who does not pay taxes but is in charge of making sure that everyone else does, but it was only a mistake (whatever his name is ); Barack's dear wife who still tells him what to do; last, but not least: The two greatest minds in the Legislative Field: Harry ( I can get land for you) Reid and Barack OBama's Chief of Staph, the Jewish kid from the great state of Illinoise, where the other brilliant politicians come from; those of Integrity, you know; ex-Rep. Rostenkowski, a brilliant chairman of Ways and Means under Tip O'Neil who received a Presidential pardon for (above all things...Stealing Postage). Sen. Burriss (sp?) should not worry about anything. Mayor Daly (sp?) et alii showed our New President HOW TO LEGISLATE AND WIN. GOD BLESS US ALL. I TRULY DO HOPE THAT THE INCOMING PRESIDENT WILL BE SUCCESFUL. Repeat after me: Our Father, Who art in Heaven........ Please. May GOD BLESS America. Eddie. Used to be from Boston, now of Port Orange, Fl.

Anger in all the wrong places . . .
What has happened to our people? They seek happiness in all the wrong places and spew anger at all the wrong things.

Why so much rage toward President Bush and yet no anger at all about the liars in the press and the media that deceives us all by ommission, refusing to report the truth? Where is the rage about the crooks and decievers with ACORN and with Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac and others who have robbed us and destroyed our ecomony? Where is the rage for terrorists that forced us to fight back and who continue to threaten our peace and safety? What is the matter with you people?

President Bush wasn't a perfect Prez
but I think Barry Obama is going to make the Bush years look like "Happy Days" in comparison. Massive government takeovers of our lives, thousands of American dead on Al Queda attacks on our soil, Draconian tax increases for every man woman and child in the USA, blanket amnesty for 12 million illegal amigos and a general disdain for the US Constitution. Oh yeah, and be prepared to be lectured on a daily basis by his angry, harpy I Hate America wife.

Dr.Douglas OR #6
Are you...perhaps, Dislexic? Or are you just...a complete moron?

The Liberal Media
The liberal,left-wing media are much more to blame for the decline in society today than Gearge Bush. They have spread their hatred for GW Bush world-wide.The Waters Edge means nothing to them.

I can think of nothing positive they have done in the last several years. They don't tell the news. They decide what they will cover and in lockstep, all the MSM shape the story as they wish it perceived.

Rush Limbaugh, after some big story has taken exerpts from most of the news shows. Their talking points are identical. They all get their talking points from the same central location. Usually the New Youk Times. A very fair newspaper....NOT!!!

happy new year
No matter what the President did or did not do, he was doomed. The hatred for this man was unbelievable. You have to wonder how so much hate could be around. I wonder if all the media people's lives were so drastically changed the past eight years? Hope they get what the voted for.

Yes! SAY IT LOUD AND CLEAR!
Mr. Bozell, I've been saying this for years, and even sent an email to the President at the White House explaining many of your same ideas, especially defending his decisions. Unfortunately President Bush is not a great communicator, but he was the right at the right time after 9/11. Having Kerry, Gore or Hillary at the helm would have been a big problem. America needs a president who communicates with the American people, even if they disagree with him, at least they will know where he stands and why. Speaking to the people on a regular basis is good for the country, it's good for the Republican Party and good for conservatives. It's also damn good PR. Conservatives and Republicans need to stand up and speak out and stop behaving like liberal Democrats: always beholdant to polls, reelection, and liberal opinion. Do what is right for the Country and SAY IT LOUD AND CLEAR, AND OFTEN!

Good Man, but flawed like the rest of ua
Where will the left wing zealot point their hatred now; all that built up anger, rage, vile hatred and their revulsion of all things Conservative, Christians, Jews or all of the above? I think the media demonized President Bush for political purposes. I look at him for what he is a flawed man who is not perfect, who tried to do they right thing, maybe trusted some people to do their jobs and didn’t.

I cannot remember a time that a President faced so much pressure from the left, gave them what they wanted and then criticized him for doing it. He faced a lot of manufactured and natural disasters probably more than any other President and foremost kept us safe from further terrorist attack. It appears that Obama will remove the safeguards Bush put into place, bring the red carpet out and release the prisoner from Gitmo, tell them sorry for the delay, you’re free to go.

I’m waiting for the ACLU lawyers to file lawsuits for their detention from being held without their will and sue the government, the military and President Bush. If they win, I’m sure we’ll finance the next attack.

President Bush made many mistakes, errors but I don’t believe any of it was done on purpose and I thank him for keeping us safe. Go back to Crawford, Texas and enjoy your family, your wife and children, relax and rest and thank you.

Helen Thomas, is that witch still alive? She looked like the walking dead when Reagan was President, she most likely looks like a walking cadaver that should be laid opening on a cold, metal slab..

Morgus the Magnificent
His greatest miracle is that Helen Thomas is still breathing and "reporting".

It's alive! It's alive!

Merci, Kimberly!
As a citizen of NOLA, I am sick of explaining the facts concerning Katrina.

For the haters, if you don't live in the swamp, STFU!

Barack Obama does NOT understand

Barack Obama does NOT understand that respect is a two way street.

Barack Obama does NOT respect our Constitution.

Barack Obama does NOT respect the lives of little defenseless babies that have survived an attempt on their lives.

Barack Obama does NOT respect the American citizens - he only uses us for political expedience.

Barack Obama does NOT respect anyone or anything that does NOT fulfill his Narcissistic need for Adulation.

Barack Obama does NOT respect much of anything and in return he will NOT receive any respect, only worship from those he has conned into believing he actually cares about anyone or anything other than himself.

Col. Mitchell reminds us

Obama will have it a lot easier thanks to Bush.

When Bush came into Office it was illegal for the CIA to share intelligence with the FBI.

Bush fixed that. Bozo and Panetta will have the CIA dismantled before we know it.

When Bush came into office terrorist were free to use the banking systems to transfer funds.

Bush fixed that. Some banks are now making it easier, and providing money exclusively to muslims to easily purchase homes.

When Bush came into office there was virutally no terrorist security in the ports.

Bush fixed that. That will disappear since Bozo Obama intends to OPEN OUR BORDERS TO EVERYONE...

When Bush came into office there were no biological weapons detection systems in the major cities.

Bush Fixed that. See above. CIA will be dismantled.

When Bush came into office local police, fire and governments entities were not trained or capable of dealing with a bio-attack.

Bush Fixed that. Good thing Bush fixed that since Bozo thinks terror attacks are a "criminal matter" and it will be up to the local officials.

Col. Mitchell reminds us (2)

When Bush came into office there was no central database of the worlds known terrorists.

Bush Fixed that. Gone when the CIA is dismantled.

When Bush came into office Osama Bin Laden was free to travel as he pleased.

Bush Fixed that. Isn't bin Laden going to be AT the coronation? :-)

When Bush came into office Iraq was a terrorist State.

Bush Fixed that. But it soon will be AGAIN!

When Bush came into office Afganistan had terrorist training camps.

Bush fixed that. And it soon will AGAIN!

When Bush came into office Lybia was a terrorist state.

Bush Fixed that. Toss up, but most likely will be again.

When Bush came into office there was no secure place to hold enemy combantants and other terrorists.

Bush fixed that with Gitmo. Bozo will have Gitmo closed in a month or so.

So Clearly there are many many successes of the Bush Administration that the Liberal media hasn't bothered to educated Liberals about.

So when a liberal posts something negative about Bush, you can pretty much understand its due to a lack of education on the issue.

I stand with...,
Kimberly, Hannah, Myrna, Dreadnaught, Paula, Ken , Jimbo, Georgetwin, Joan, Gumbi5, Vonryans Express.

Thank you President and Mrs. Bush.

Obama's Legacy
Only a few more days until the "One" is coronated. These will be interesting times watching the Dems scurry for cover. They won't have the evil Bush or Cheny to blame for the country's woes. Dems will have full control of the White House, The Senate and The House. They will be under the microscope and the country will be watching. Our children and grand children will grow up in a 3rd world socialist country. Obama and the Dems will cause unsustainable debt that will be the problem of generations to come. Future generations will be working 11 months out of the year to pay taxes and the deficit. Let's see how the main stream media handles that!

Geek & BHO's Understanding
Barack Obama does NOT understand

Anything.

Watch the Untouchables
My co-teachers and I showed our classes the movie as part of our Roaring Twenties unit. Yes we did some serious work on it to get rid of some of the language. As I watched it, I thought of how it reminded me of Bush dealing with terrorism.

Ness was a decent man who wanted to play by the rules, but he found out that did not work so well for him. Al Capone and his band of thugs did not play nicely (to say the least). I think it was the same with Bush. He would have liked nothing better than to have things work the way they were "supposed" to work, but the terrorists play by an entirely different set of rules. Bush could have done what we had done in the past which was ineffective, or he could really work to protect the American people. He chose to protect us, and all of his haters can sit there in complete comfort and hate on him because of it!

Pres. Bush's Missing Explanations

BRENT BOZELL III writes: "With only days left before the moving vans file out, (Pres Bush has) decided to go public and publicly defend himself. Why didn't he start doing this seven years ago, when it would have mattered?"

Couldn't agree more. It would've been beneficial to all Americans if Pres. Bush had taken time to elaborate and explain his words, i.e:

"I HAVE POLITICAL CAPITAL AND I INTEND TO SPEND IT." -- a message Pres. Bush conveyed to the nation after gaining a second term. Rather than pull the nation together, why did Mr. Bush choose to keep it divided?

"AFTER 9/11 WE MUST TAKE THREATS SERIOUSLY" -- Quoted from a speech Pres. Bush delivered on Aug. 16, 2004, in Traverse City, Mich., implying that Mr. Bush and his team prior to 9/11 failed to take seriously the threats of imminent terrorist attack. Why didn't Pres, Bush take seriously terrorist threats BEFORE Sept. 11, 2001?

"WE WILL DO EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER TO HELP THE PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITIES AFFECTED BY THIS STORM." -- Statement by Pres. Bush recorded in White House press release dated Aug. 28, 2005, the day before Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast, and days before federal aid finally arrived. Why didn't Mr. Bush keep his promise?

"I AM TRULY NOT THAT CONCERNED ABOUT HIM (BIN LADEN)." ... Pres. Bush, White House Press Conference, March 13, 2002. Why did Pres. Bush scrap his post-9/11 vow to get bin Laden "dead or alive"?

"WE WILL PLAN CAREFULLY, WE WILL ACT WITH THE FULL POWER OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY." Key promises made by Pres. Bush in his Oct. 7, 2002 speech selling war in Iraq to the American people. Fact is Pres. Bush, Commander-in-Chief of the world's most prolific military, after four years of deadly warfare, had to resort to a "surge" to stave off "consequences of failure." Why did Pres. Bush fail to deliver on either of his 2002 pledges?

--For some odd reason, evangelical Christians seem to be part of the "NeoCon" coalition which is not just a code word for "Jews."--

While there is NO question that TH nominally has a bent that dovetails with certain conservative Christian values, EVERY columnist on TH except Pat. B. takes ONLY the pan-Israeli/Zionist view about the M.E. here... case in point, arch-Zionist Cliff May.

While a majority of American Jews have officially opposed the War in Iraq, the neoCON/Zionist ilk including ALL TH columnists cannot stop braying about the virtues of the Iraq War, because it was they who engendered taking out Iraq as part of their PNAC agenda, spelled out way back in 1996.

Poor, gullible Presidente Jorge STILL does not fully realize how he got manipulated by Feith, Perle, Wolfy, Libby, Abrams, Wurmser, etc., who then slinked away into the night to leave him holding the bag when it became inescapably obvious that Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11... Osama and Saddam had been ADVERSARIES.

When he finally obviated Israel's attempt to attack Iran recently, it was ONLY AFTER he had begun to see the light, which takes a while given his myopia and simplicity.

As for the Christian right, the neoCONS/TH have played them like a Stradivarius by getting them to equate what is the perceived good for Israel with God's will.

sorry-- I mistakenly posted
... at the wrong column... then again, the tenor of my comment is about TH, and also relates to Bush, or Presidente Jorge as some among the disenchanted have taken to calling him for selling America out to the interests of so-called "cheap" labor.
