Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

One sign the liberal news media live in a plastic Manhattan bubble is their undying ardor for the Kennedy Myth, best known by that public-relations construct "Camelot." Instead of a president and First Lady, they believe, we had the King and Queen of Glamour. Never mind if their marriage was a joke and his list of presidential accomplishments was short. Never mind if the Republican half of the country feels sickened by the obsession. The media preferred the myth -- and they still do to this day. It is why they are promoting the anointment of unaccomplished Caroline Kennedy for the U.S. Senate in New York.

The very same media which spent months dismissing former mayor and Gov. Sarah Palin as too inexperienced for national office is now championing a woman whose primary qualification -- her only qualification -- is her last name. The very same media which still mock Palin's folksy "you betcha" or her interview with Katie Couric don't seem to notice when John Fund reports that in one 30-minute interview on the cable news channel New York One, Caroline Kennedy used the slang "you know" a total of 168 times.

How will Caroline Kennedy be expected to cast votes in the Senate when she's cared so little about voting as a citizen? Faced with reports that she had missed voting in several New York elections, including the 1994 re-election effort of Sen. Daniel Moynihan (the Senate seat she now expects to be handed like royalty), Kennedy told the Associated Press, "I was really surprised and dismayed by my voting record. I'm glad it's been brought to my attention."

What?

There's a long line of New York politicians who are more qualified and more deserving of a Senate seat than this dippy heiress -- even liberal ones. Yet they have to watch this wannabe sound like one of her limo drivers just handed her the dismaying news of her own voting history? You know?

But the Kennedy-worshiping media elite just can't stop scratching their Camelot itch, showing those ridiculously over-broadcasted home movies of the Kennedy kids and marveling over Caroline Kennedy's life story. From "Nightline," here's ABC high-fructose syrup specialist John Donvan: "She would be the fourth Kennedy to be called senator. Surely a new dynastic record. And her return to Washington would close a circle after nearly half a century. For this is where, when her dad was the president, we first came to know the little girl, riding his shoulders, saddled up on ponies."

Riding ponies in your playground years somehow qualifies you for federal office, at least if your last name is Kennedy.

Donvan set the bar of qualifications incredibly low, for Caroline Kennedy had no drug arrests or overdoses, and no rape trials, unlike her cousins: "Other Kennedys of her generation ran afoul of the law, but Caroline Kennedy raised her kids and did work for charity and did the family name proud." Never mind that she admitted doing drugs in the 1970s "like a typical member of that generation."

Caroline is also allegedly qualified because she had no Chappaquiddick: "Consider this, Ted Kennedy, same name, but it took him years to figure out how to become the Lion of the Senate, with multiple missteps along the way, not always doing the name proud. ... At least she has kept it the way it was remembered, as part of a story that so many wanted to believe in."

Back in August, this same network treated John McCain's choice of Palin with nothing less than contempt. They "looked a little like father and daughter out for an ice cream," said ABC's David Wright. This is the same David Wright who swooned when Caroline Kennedy endorsed Obama last January. Obama became the "adopted son of Camelot ... blessed not just by the Lion of the Senate, but by JFK's daughter."

McCain aide Mike DuHaime attempted to tout Palin's "incredible life story" when she was first picked, but ABC anchor Bill Weir told him that in the "brutality of a national campaign," Palin was neglecting her duties as a mother: "She has an infant with special needs. Will that affect her campaigning?" This is the same Bill Weir who found the first whispers of Caroline Kennedy for Senate "exciting to talk about."

Reporters are incredibly transparent in their biases these days. Experience is a huge issue -- unless a Kennedy is running. Motherhood isn't a qualification for office -- unless a Kennedy is running. Smarts are important -- unless a Kennedy is running.

In short, the media have a slight possibility of being fair -- unless a Kennedy is running. You know?

double standard
The double standard is astounding.

Semperfi
Yet they will angrily deny their bias all day long. I don't know what is more aggravating, the bias of the MSM or the insulting of our intelligence.

I'm Nauseated
"nuff said!"

Give her a chance, You know?
Granted Governor Palin's resume had a longer index than Princess Caroline's entire CV,and she has demonstrated the oratorial skills of a NYC Subway Sytem Announcer, she really, really wants it. And given the right tutor and guidance she might learn that election day means more than a sales at Barney's.

What Destroyed Camelot
Isnt it interesting that the original *Camelot* was destroyed by incest and adultery?

Some heritage to aspire to!

Princess, you know
What a joke! I can't even belive anyone would take this women seriuosly. But then again what do you expect when it comes to Liberals, you know?

The voting record
and the declarations regarding the voting record are repulsive.

To be the daughter of a slain United States President, one that had his back cracked in the Pacific during W.W.II and have missed any elections at all demonstrates lack of character and poor judgment.

I suspect a shallow creature with clay footed imprints.

In my mind...
...her not voting is a plus in her favor.Would you want this airhead helping to determine our leaders?

Q: Is the media biased?

A: Did Rose Kennedy own a black dress?

Glamour Trumps Substance
How shallow is the press? About as shallow as the so-called celebrities it pitches for. Our first New Year's resolution should be: Deliver us from the Kennedys.

Media people don't care about substance in political leadership. They want glamour and excitement. That's what sells newspapers, magazines, and TV news programs. Like the Democrat Party the media prefers symbolism over substance.

Fortunately, Obama delivered us from the Clintons and I predict before long the Anointed One himself will regret his appointment and will be beseeching his God, "Please, please, deliver me from the Clintons."

Re: For crying out loud!!!
Yeah, this clown as well as the others in Washington all are about the same-you know, you know, amm you know, aah you know, and you know!!! Or they are like Schummer who does talk because if does his real intellgence shows-an IQ of a watermellon!!!! Yep stir, Carol ought to fit very nicely!!!

Senator Caroline Kennedy
When it came out that Caroline Kennedy was helping Obama find a "suitable" VP, I laughed. How ridiculous, I thought; this woman knows nothing and has done nothing in politics. Then I saw the adulation showered upon her and she was basking in it. She was adored right along side the Messiah.

Now she wants more and she's arrogant enough to think all she has to do is ask for the job with no qualifications except her name. It's sickening but what's more sickening is that she just might be anointed.

Kennedy/Camelot
Who gives a damn? I was an eigth grader the day her dad (John) was shot. This "loser" brought us Lyndon Johnson, Viet Nam and gave Dan Rather his big shot, wringing his hands over the dead in battle every damned night on TV. The media got its big Liberal "push" back then as they had all the power to influence Americans in the monopoly of the airwaves. Soldies were spit-on and castigated for serving their country with blood. 58 thousand died and millions served, yet the media still treats their service like dirty socks. The Kennedys can all kiss my rump: useless parasites, feeding on America like their personal pie.. Boy, I bet princess Caroline thought we were all going to swoon and feel so blessed that another Kennedy was wiggling up to the trough. OOH-Rah!
Jerry in Asheboro,NC

Amen! Jerseyvet
Please dear Lord deliver us from the Kennedy's. Camelot never existed. It started out as a figment of some society writers imagination. The truth of the matter was that JFK got to where he was by using his old man's political connections and money made from ill gotten gain. JFK was no more than a mediocore president at best. After his death, the canonization started. He was a degenerate horn dog with some definite impulse control problems.

Kennedy/Camelot
Governor Blagojevich should have appointed Caroline to fill the vacant Illinois senate seat. The NYT and NBC would praise him, and democrats would swoon over her midwestern values. Not living in Illinois would be a minor problem because I am pretty sure Caroline is a life long Chicago Cubs fan.

More Info
Mr. Bozell,

Thanks for the read. I'd like to see a list of "journalists" that have moved on to other jobs. I think it might be enlightening for folks to know what "unbiased" reporters are doing in their 2nd career. I think of Daniel Shore at NPR, Martin Kalb(?) at Harvard, etc. It might also be interesting to the public to find out who is married to whom, like Steve and Cokie Roberts, Al Hunt and Judy Woodruff, etc.

Thanks for what you do.

conrdog u crack me up
well said Jerry. I will never forget Viet Nam.

Obamalot
With the 'lion' of the Senate in a diminshed state and veritably on his last legs...do you suppose that the Kennedy clan figures this is their last hoorah? That Camelot officially ended on a November election day in 2008? The Kennedy murders were horrific. We, as a nation understood then, that Camelot was lost. It's just taken the Kennedy family a little longer to realize it...

Camelot redux
As a child of the Kennedy era, I regarded JFK as a personal hero figure, and RFK as a potential national healer...the Sixties gave us plenty of hope and angst...I'm much older now, and I understand, I think, a little about what the mystique is all about...heroes. The Sixties gave us several...all murdered right in front of us. The decades since have offered up very few. The Republicans have canonized Ronald Reagan as thoroughly as the Democrats have canonized the Kennedy brothers...tit for tat. No one is immune to the infection of hero-worship, hero-making, and nostalgia for a time when things seemed more hopeful, and there were some people in public service who actually did have a modicum of character and integrity. I don't think Caroline has the 'right stuff' but if the NY Governor does, that's his call. In less than two years, she would face a real election to prove her mettle, or go down in defeat. Given some of the posturing clowns and obvious idiots in the US Senate, I'm willing to give her a chance if New York is. There's no question that the family name still has clout and impact.

Well you know
She is a a Kennedy, you know, and nothing else matters, you know. Her degenerate uncle that got away with murder, you know, will be canonized after death you know.

Say Goodnight, Tit for Tat
"The Republicans have canonized Ronald Reagan as thoroughly as the Democrats have canonized the Kennedy brothers...tit for tat."

NO ONE is suggesting that Maureen Reagan, Christine Reagan, Michael Reagan, Patti Reagan or Ron Reagan be given a Senate seat based on their last name -- regardless of how much "clout and impact" that name might have.

So, it's NOT "tit for tat" -- you know?

Charity work?
Sorry, but the attribution of charity work to Caroline doesn't fly. She gets paid a gazillion dollars to "run" her mother's foundation. It was an estate planning tool to get the charitable deduction and a lifetime of huge salaries to Caroline and (now deceased) John. Getting paid to have people beg you for money you didn't earn and clap for you when you make the required 5 percent distributions every year. Yeah, she does "charity work" all right.

Surprised? No.
Great column but why should we be surprised at the liberal media. Does it "pxxx me off"? Yes. Surprise me? No.

KENNEDY, PALIN & EINSTEIN
Caroline Kennedy makes Sarah Palin look like a female Einstein.

Standards
Dems and the media don't have standards for themselves. But they sure have them for Republicans, religious right, and conservatives!

The Celebritization of America
There is a dangerous thing happening in America. We are all about appearance, and not much about substance. Why else would Obama be elected president? Blacks voted for him because he's black, (its been shown time and again most didn't know or care a whit about his views on issues) the young and the wealthy voted for him because he's for "change" without ever asking what that means. Nobody cared about his lack of experience and accomplishments or his friends; he had the right image. He was "cool" and used a Blackberry. Now we see his "bod" on the beach in Hawaii and people swoon and know they put the right man in office.
For some, Caroline doesn't have to have accomplished anything to join the most exclusive club in the nation, the name is enough. Others with more ambition and experience are fit to be tied, but how many of them also supported the very inexperienced Anointed One for President. So is it really about experience or more about ambition. They are all going to vote the same way.
What's up on Capital Hill have brought this country to the abyss it is sinking into, no matter which Dem they appoint the vote counts won't be affected.
This country needs to get serious about its leaders if we are going to remain a great nation. Putting people in office for their name or their ability to use a teleprompter when they have no substance says more about our electorate than the people running for office.

Glass houses
I'm not in favor of political dynasties, but give me a break!

Can someone point out, exactly, what qualifications the current occupant of the White House had for running for governor of Texas or President of the USA besides his family name and money?

The Senator-Select wears Prada

Why won't the media ask the important question that we REALLY want to know?

HOW MUCH DID CAROLINE SPEND ON HER SHOES?

The Genes Stop Here
When you think about it both JFK children are/were pretty ordinary. JFK, Jr., needed to make several attempts to pass the bar examination in New York. As sure as the sun rises in the East, he was slated for a great political career and, eventually, the presidency before his tragic death. I am not sure he wanted it. I think he just wanted to live the good life.

As for the Reagan children they still suffer from the "famous father syndrome." I think Ron Reagan could not be elected to dogcatcher, which is a good thing for him--and for the nation.

Kennedys typify stereotype Irish: Brawling, reckless, alcohol and drug users--and forever political down to the last molecule in their bodies.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could relegate them to history, nostalgic puff pieces, and what-if TV epics? But there are a lot of Kennedys still coming down the pike...(sigh).

manipulations
Mr. Bozeel lll and Geri, I couldn't have said it better! You have summed up my detest for politics and the manipulations of the left today, quite constructively also. This election was a fraud, so is the the P.E. I think adding a Kennedy to this mess, just proves it! - Thank-You!

Airheads
If Barbara Boxer can be a senator, why not Caroline?

P.S. to The Celebritzation of America
I forgot about Al Franken in Minnesota. He is in the process of stealing a Senate seat there partly on the premise of voter intent; ballots that weren't marked for him, but if they voted for other Dems, they must have "intended" to vote for him. But if so many of the voters hadn't cast their ballot for a such a crass individual (I am trying to be polite here) there would be no need for a recount. But then Minnesota also had Jesse the Body for Governor. I remake my point.

Camelot
The original Camelot was more likely a myth than historical fact. And the Kennedy Camelot was even more mythical in that it was nothing like the imaginary first Camelot. It wasn't King Arthur who had the other love. There surely was no Sir Galahad or even a Sir Gawain. If there was a Kennedy Round Table of noble men, I never heard or read about it.
Camelot, my foot.
Donald w. Bales

Jude: Yikes! You have a point! SCARY

point, but a point never-the-less.

This whole thing is probably the most ridiculous idea since, errr, uhh.. well, you know... Bozo Obama getting elected!

Yeah, that's the ticket!

And, in one interview, she actually managed to say "you know" TWELVE TIMES in 49 SECONDS.

If Carline and Frankenstein manage to be senators, C-Span will have to be rated either "X" or be put on the Comedy Channel.

Another Kennedy Rears an Ugly Head
This is a great article. However, can we really expect much more from the liberal media? I've become immune and numb to the preposterous values/views of the left. The over-the-top praise of "Camelot" has been a media favorite for years. Unfortunately, we know the Kennedy family is not going to disappear from politics anytime soon.

MTS
The differences between President Bush and Kennedy?

For one, President Bush actually had some business experience before becoming governor.

For another, he ran for office, he was not simply selected to be governor. If he had been, I would have been as much against that as I am against Kennedy. It is one thing for a family name to give you recognition in an election. Does it help? yes. But that is a choice the people make. I would hope that when an office is filled by appointment, rather than an election, the governor would actually look at the qualifications of an individual and not simply pick a name the press likes.

By the time President Bush was elected as President, he had had a very succesful time as governor of Texas. This was infinitely more experience than Kennedy has had.

Never heard no
Both Obama and Caroline have never been told "No". As Michael Savage says "Liberals will walk on all fours for a bi-racial child". Obama went to his elite prep school that my middle class white parents pondered, but realized we could not afford. Despite his claims of struggles, this man does not know struggle. These two are EXACTLY what our country DOES NOT need right now. We need people who weren't given any golden path, who were told "you want that, then you better work for it, b/c no one will give it to you". I cannot believe this country is even considering Caroline Kennedy for this position. This is exactly the type of person this country allegedly despises. These types are not the backbone of our country. The Kennedys don't fight our wars. Jack was the last one to lend a hand with that. They don't start small businesses. They make a lot of "documentaries" (as do all rich kids) Does the public realize this woman has never had to fight for a parking spot, never done a load of laundry, never taken out her own garbage? The list is endless!!! WHAT the heck is wrong with this country?

Kennedy
Where is the NAACP and Jackson and Sharpton on this "white woman getting a job because she is white" refrain?? Where is the lunatic left and its hatred for the rich, white, upper class getting what they want because of their station in life? Both groups are curiously silent. What can we deduce from their silence?

What an abysmal joke!
Putting it mildly, Caroline Kennedy is NOT qualified.

These same reporters who were attacking (and still do) Gov. Palin over everything, go ga-ga over another Kennedy. Gee, what a surprise.

What's worse is that too many Americans remain completely deaf, dumb and blind to the MSM double-standard.

C'mon America! Wake up for Heaven's sake!

Hillary, um, you know, paved the way
for the use of "you know" in her speeches. When she was an active candidate for, you know, President, it drove me crazy how many times, you know, she said, "you know." Now, Caroline has picked up the ball and we are served more drivel. I guess, you know, that's what the media, um, likes. Do any of our media hacks have more than a third grade education?

Geri (reply #13)
"...This country needs to get serious about its leaders if we are going to remain a great nation. Putting people in office for their name or their ability to use a teleprompter when they have no substance says more about our electorate than the people running for office."

EXCELLENT!! Perfectly true statement!

When all is said and done, it is We The People who need to come to the sobering realization that the problem rests with the American citizen (you and me).

The road to saving this country is daunting with a long laundry list of challenges, but the very first step for every American is to simply WAKE UP.

Mike
Great idea. If she needs a real estate agent to help her find a residence, I'm sure BHO can recommend one who can get her an excellent deal.

The Bush experience
Matthew - "By the time President Bush was elected as President, he had had a very succesful time as governor of Texas. This was infinitely more experience than Kennedy has had"

Wow, his experience really paid off, didn't it?
Look how our country has benefited from all his "experience". Give me a break.

none
Very well said. Their rare silence speaks volumes.

Voting record
she didn't vote in the past, like a lot of Americans, because she wasn't inspired. It's like choosing between spam and potted meat. At least she didn't vote for a candidate based on whether or not he or she is a democrat.
She shouldn't have to explain herself or apologize. I only vote when I believe in the candidate - I refuse to vote otherwise. It's stupid to vote for partisan reasons.

You know and You betcha
the "you know" does get on my nerves. She is extremely intelligent, but it makes her sound illiterate. Like Palin and her dumb responses to interviewer questions. Neither one are eloquent speakers. Palin needs a speech (written by someone else) in front of her, and Kennedy needs a speech therapist.

Caroline
When I see her,I can't help thinking what tragedies she has had to endure. Much more than most of us.

She may fill the qualifications required to be a senator, but should she be one? Should she start at the top, having never shown any political interests? Not for me to say.

Let's see ... Caroline or Sarah?
Is Caroline Kennedy really better suited for high office than Sarah Palin?

Let's see.

One of them has a law degree from Columbia and has co-written two critically acclaimed books about the Bill of Rights, one specifically about the Fourth Amendment. The other has a journalism degree from college in general and had this conversation with Katie Couric:

Couric: Do you think there's an inherent right to privacy in the Constitution?

Palin: I do. Yeah, I do.

Couric: (That's) the cornerstone of Roe v. Wade.

Palin: I do. And I believe that individual states can best handle what the people within the different constituencies in the 50 states would like to see their will ushered in an issue like that.

I know that was months ago, but my head still hurts. Palin is fanatically anti-abortion, but she obviously knows less about the legal arguments for and against Roe than she knows about life on other planets. She doesn't know that the right to privacy implied -- but not stated -- by the Fourth Amendment is an argument for abortion rights. And beyond that, she doesn't comprehend that a Constitutional right applies to you whether your mayor thinks it does or not. To understand the Constitution less than that you'd have to be a monkey.

I'm gonna have to go with Caroline Kennedy.

Amy
Comeon now. Not to be confrontational but you certainly are making a lot of excuses for this woman. To me, no excuses are necessary. NY can send whoever they want but please stop the excuses and mitigation.

Not voting because she wasn't inspired? Weak. Lame. Most people I know regard voting as a great privelege bordering on obligation given that this system has given us the greatest standard of living in history. Given us the greatest freedom ever kown to man. And, please, can you back up your statement that she is "extremely intelligent?" What is your evidence? Book smarts and being able to pass tests does not necessarily equate to intelligence. Giving out Mommy and Daddy's money does not equate to intelligence either.

So like I said, NY can put whoever it wants in the Senate. However, please stop making excuses for an obvious mediocrity.

you must remember this -
Democrats (and the fawning press who support them) are immune to embarrassment.

Just keep that fact in mind and filter everything through it and everything will make sense.

Did I say 'make sense'?

Wow

JFK was the last "Good" Kennedy
Yes he was for big govt. but he was still an Anti-Communist.

His brother and their progeny all worship at the altar of Fidel Castro.

The double standard exhibited by the press in this country is astounding. Sarah Palin gives a few vague answer in her interview with Couric and she's instantly labeled a Moron, Yet Princess Caroline shows all the intelligence of a slightly retarded 2nd grader, and she's celebrated as a political genius.

I really hope she gets the seat, and Franken succeeds in stealing Coleman's senate seat.
Those 2 morons alone will go a long way in ushering in a new Republican majority in 2010.

Short term pain for long term gain.

Not to mention the fact that they will be an endless source of new material for us political satirists!

For the next 4 years, my biggest problem will be sorting through all the democrat shenanigans to pick the best stuff to make fun of.

Fasten your seat belts folks, it's gonna be a Bumpy Ride.

Jackpine
Sarah Palin's answers to Couric's, and other's, questions, weren't 'vague', as you so euphemistically put it. They were incomprehensible. For example:
Q: One of the things you talked about last night was the flexibility the vice president has--
PALIN: Yeah.
Q: --Uh. What did you mean by that?
PALIN: Uh. That thankfully our founders were wise enough to say we have this position and it's constitutional -- vice president will be able to be not only the position flexible, but it's gonna be those other duties as assigned by the president. A simple thing.

Two more points: I don't think graduating with highest honors from Columbia Law is a sign of retardation, and if Franken (the better candidate) wins, it will be because more citizens exercizing their right to vote cast their ballots for him.

The Kennedy "tragedies"

It has often been said that the Kennedy family has had more than its share of tragedies. Up until Chappaquiddick, I would have agreed. The plane-crash deaths of Joseph P. Kennedy and Kathleen Kennedy Cavendish in the 1940s, the premature birth and death of John and Jacqueline’s son Patrick, and the assassinations of JFK and RFK certainly made it seem as if tragedy was stalking this family.

After that, it was pure stupidity. Teddy drove off a bridge, resulting in the death of aide Mary Jo Kopechne. Bobby’s son David Kennedy died of a drug overdose. Another RFK son, Michael Kennedy, was killed when he slammed into a tree while skiing in Aspen — the result of a stupid game that the ski patrol had warned the family not to continue playing on the slopes.

John F. Kennedy, Jr. was a 100-hour pilot, not instrument-rated, who wasn’t qualified to make the flight he made over water in gathering darkness. He, his wife and sister-in-law perished in a crash off Martha’s Vineyard.

It's time to stop worshiping this stupid family! Let's hope no more of them make it into the Senate.

What's all the fuss?
What's all the fuss about Caroline's experience? Didn't we have three senators running around the country for almost 2 years. How important can that job be when you can be absent for 2 years? Felons, alcoholics, thieves, sexual deviants, windbags, drug abusers, philanderers, self professed war criminals, klan members, extortionists, murderers etc would have one think of the french foreign legion-but no these are some members of the U.S. Senate. So what if she sounds like an NBA baketball player when being interviewed, at least she's from NY unlike like Hillary and her uncle Bobby.

George
I think you've made your political leanings clear, not to mention your snobbery with respect to Sarah Palin committing the apparently unpardonable sin of NOT attending an Ivy League school. Uh you know.... I think uh those Ivy League degrees might be, like, uh, overrated, you know? And like, maybe, you know, her last name got her into Columbia like...uh.... you know, in the first place?

Now, let's see how you do with consistency... Another of your liberal icons, none other than Al Gore, enrolled in and then promptly flunked out of divinity school at Vanderbilt U. in 1971. Meanwhile George W. Bush was well on his way to earning his MBA at Harvard. Incidentally GWB also had a higher undergraduate GPA than did Al Gore. Surely you must agree that on the basis of their respective acedemic records and pedigrees that GWB is the intellectual superior of Al Gore. Right?

I suspect that you don't believe that, which of course makes you a hypocritical clown.

Uh, like.... you know?

On reconsideration
Caroline's recent public performances have shown levels of arrogance and cluelessness that one expects only from experienced politicians, such as Joe Biden, Robert Byrd, and her own Uncle Teddy. She and the Senate sound like a good match after all.

Gee wiz, she's a "co-author" too??!
Oh, and George.... the fact that you think that having "co-authored" a few books in any way qualifies Caroline Kennedy for the Senate is priceless. With her grammar and oratorical skills she certainly needs a co-author. She probably also needs one for the subject matter.

Caroline
If she was a Republican, she would already have been laughed off the stage. Democrats have no shame,so they are ashamed of nothing.

Democrats have their own advertising agancy, the news media. The advertise what they like and demonize what they hate. They can make you or break you. Guess who they tried to break.

Space and time does not permit the list of what the MSM has covered up this election. They demonized the good and praised the bad. That's just who they are . That's just what they do.

Kennedy{Camelot} Myth
JFK was put in as president with a long list of dead voters who miraculosly came to life long enough to vote for him, along with the fortune his father made in the bootlegging business during prohibition. The media created the myth about the JFK years by not exposing all of his affairs with one being the mistress of a well known mobster and Marilyn Monroe. The press knew all about it but chose to help cover it up much as they do today when a dem is involved. So it really should come as no surprise that they also want to coronate another Kennedy. The press coronated Obama so we will never be informed of anything corrupt that he does either. Wonder why so many papers are going bankrupt? Maybe because somany people see their bias and refuse to buy into what they have to say. That is to say the ordinary people, not the elitists who love it.

George's "Logic"
""Two more points: I don't think graduating with highest honors from Columbia Law is a sign of retardation, and if Franken (the better candidate) wins, it will be because more citizens exercizing their right to vote cast their ballots for him.""

First of all, I never said kennedy was Retarded. Like most libs, you see what you want to see. I said she "shows all the intelligence of a slightly retarded 2nd grader,". I will translate for you, "She don't talk so good".

Of course, you knew that, you just thought it was a convenient way to take a poke at me.

According to you, Kennedy is more Qualified than Palin, because she has an ivy league diploma.

Let's see, Palin went to college on Her Dime, She didn't have a famous daddy, and family billions behind her to open doors.

Palin was Mayor of a city, then Governor of the biggest state in the country, all achieved by her own talent.

Kennedy has spent her life being a Kennedy.

Yeah, I can clearly see how she's qualified if I apply "Liberal Logic" (Shes a dem And a Kennedy, she's qualified)

George, you just prove my theory that Liberalism is Logic's retarded cousin.

Happy New Year gang!!

David
I am no fan of the Kennedy's and I do agree about the stupidity of some of the 'tragedies'. However, the innocent ones who lived through those 'tragedies' were no less hurt by them. Don't you agree?

Ask Harry Reid why it ok for the Gov of
New York to anoint Sweet Caroline, and the Blago idiot won't be accepted by him??? The Gov. of NY wasn't the original Gov. remember he was the LT. Gov, and moved up when the original Gov. was proven a pervert, so not ok for pervy Blago, but ok for replacement Gov. to anoint someone with absolutely NO qualifications, whereas the person anointed by Blago at least served the people of Illinois.
BUT wait, Caroline worked for the NY school system, BUT her children weren't allowed to go to the same school system she is touting. Sounds like someone just peachy keen for a US Senator eh???

Glass Houses Redux
To Matthew, who said:

"For one, President Bush actually had some business experience before becoming governor."

Yeah, except for the baseball team, he ran every business he ever had anything to do with into the ground, only to be rescued by bribes disguised as "investments" by his daddy's rich friends and people who either had or wanted government contracts. He then pretty much bankrupted the state of Texas, leaving it unable to carry out the basic functions of government (probably his intent, to the extent that he had any intent besides self-aggrandizement and power).

As someone else pointed out above, his "business experience" has really paid off, hasn't it?

Someone with his "qualifications" running for governor whose name was, say, John Smith, would have lost by a landslide to anyone even remotely qualified (and fuggetaboud president).

As I said, I don't really like dynasties, and I don't think appointing Caroline Kennedy to Mrs. Clinton's Senate is a good idea, but I'm amazed at the hypocrisy of those who claim to be shocked by it, or deny that it happens just as much, if not more, on the other side of the political spectrum. Hell, half the political pundits on the right, especially the younger ones, would be managing trailer parks or pumping gas for a living if their parents weren't who they are. (Does anyone REALLY think Jonah Goldberg got a gig writing for the LA Times on merit? Or that William "I've got a lower accuracy rating than a TV psychic doing a cold reading on James Randi" Kristol would be taken seriously were it not for his lineage?)

As we were told time and time again about two stolen president elections, "Get over it." Ms. Kennedy's appointment, if it happens, will at least be legal.

more for George
""and if Franken (the better candidate) wins, it will be because more citizens exercizing their right to vote cast their ballots for him""

I almost forgot to address this "pearl of wisdom".

Can you please tell me how Franken is the Better candidate? (Beside the fact that he's a democrat).

Writing bad comedy skits no one wanted to watch, writing bad books that no one read, and hosting a bad radio show no one listened to, along with bankrupting Air America qualifies him to be a Senator?

And you guys call Bush a Failure??

Once again, Liberalism: Logic's retarded cousin.

Almost forgot
I almost forgot to point out the obvious: Brent Bozell III owes his entire career to political dynasties: that of his father, and the fact that he's a nephew of William F. Buckley. Talk about glass houses...

MTS
""As we were told time and time again about two stolen president elections, "Get over it." ""

Keep flogging that expired equine MTS, it may actually walk again some day.

Even the liberal "Paper of Record" (The NY Slimes) admitted that Bush won fairly in 2000, of course facts and liberalism have never been close friends.

See my post above about liberalism, then look at your post.

See yourself?

Caroline looks like someone
who did too much speed and talks like someone who did too much acid.
The Democrats are always lowering the bar to accommodate their flunkies. What a party.

Jackpine and Brian
Your reactionary responses were about what I expected. I specifically gave a represenative quote from Sarah Palin, which was unintelligible, as were many of her statements during the campaign when she wasn't reading from a teleprompter. You chose to ignore the core points of my posts, and launched into a diatribe about Libs, which, by the way, is a club I don't happen to belong to. I'm just someone who abhors illogic and distraction, something that seems to abound here in spades. The comments about Caroline are all over the road, mostly in the wrong lane. It isn't the fact that she got into Columbia that proves anything, it's that she graduated with highest honors from Columbia Law School that says something. George Bush was roughly a C student and seemed to be proud of it. And just in case you didn't know, he applied to the University of Texas Law School and was denied admission. I read two of the three books that Caroline either authored, co-authored, or edited. I highly recommend them. You might want to brush up on your reading comprehension before tacking them, though.

Caroline Will Fit Right In......
with the rest of the liberal whack-jobs in Congress. This vapid woman is a frickin' fruit-loop who can't even emit a coherent sentence. I am sure Dirty Harry, Bela Pelosi and the rest of the alligator's in the swamp will welcome her with open arms. How disgraceful!

Alledged quotation
George of Maryland alledges to have provided us with an unintelligible quotation by Sarah Palin, but some, if not many, of the quotations attributed to her by the Leftist infested MSM were falsely attributed to her & outright lies aimed to denigrate her.

The Left is correct to fear Sarah. She does pose a dire threat to it.

Friend George goes on to attempt to belittle Geo. Bush because of his GPA. This perhaps signifies George of Maryland's generation. Evidently he's too young to be aware that until the Viet-Nam War & the onset of grade inflation there was nothing disgraceful about a university student wobbling through school with a "C" average. Back in those days it was referred to as "A gentleman's C"

On a strict bell curve half of all graduating students are graduated with "C" averages. But of course, these days it seems every Iny Leaguer at least is graduated with above average grades. Since the onset of grade inflation GPAs have become nearly meaningless.

I'm darned proud of having been graduated from the Univ. of Kansas regardless I was graduated near the bottom of my class. For one thing, hailing from a working class family from Galena, the only Kansas town mentioned in John Steinbeck's "Grapes of Wrath," a place as poor as that impliies, I had to bust my fanny to pay my own way, by holding down jobs all of the time, through school.

No, I wasn't an academic star, but through sheer perserance, as is not uncommon of working class youngsters, evidently including Sarah Palin, I finally earned my sheepskin. Although it was a mite soiled by a low GPA it served to aid me to claw my way upwards out of the lower working class.

You wrote: "She is extremely intelligent"

Upon what do you base that statement?

Hmm...
From Peggy:

"Subject: Caroline Will Fit Right In......

Two words: Ted Stevens.

Two more words: James Inhofe.

Again, glass houses.

Dave
My quotation from Sarah Palin came from verizon.net. I also heard her utter those words, as well as many more confusing and inaccurate statements. I don't happen to be on the Left, but noone has anything to fear from Sarah. Someone with such a shallow grounding in facts of government and the use of her own language only poses a threat to the Party she represents. Why do you think McCain lost his bid for the presidency?
You were way off on my age, I'm about to turn 56. A "C" average has always been mediocre in college, my friend. And grade inflation had already taken hold by the time George Bush was in graduate school. C's in grad school are basically equivalent to F's in a baccalaureate program. There's absolutely nothing wrong with someone getting C's if they are striving to do their best. More power to them. But given the choice between an A student and a C student, I'm pretty likely to go with the A student for my choice of President. The choices they have to make are far too serious to go the other way.

You should be proud of your graduating college. I'd be the first to laud your effort and determination. I hope your academic acheivement leads to a good life for you and yours. Just don't expect for me to ignore the fact hat Sarah Palin is both ineloquent and unknowledgable. It's an untenable combination for someone that was presenting herself to be qualified to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency. There are plenty of qualified Republicans. She just isn't one of them.

Where Do I Protest?
I agree with her not having enough experience, with the LEFT Liberal media being sweet on her (and any other Lefty)....where can I protest? I am SO Very Tired, frustrated, disgusted and Fed Up with reading their tripe and listening to it on tv (until I change the channel). Where do I protest? Had Enough.

George you are so misguided
Like many innocent citizens, during this election we were manipulated by editing and the suppression of the truth. (Especially during the couric interview) The puntive liberals (with the help of the msm) destroyed and distorted any possibility of a fair election. The facts and associations were suppressed and spun. The voices of many concerned americans were suppressed. The election of pebo was nothing more than a whole country being manipulated by Saul Alinsky's Best Student! -- I love this quote, It sums up the whole election for me: "If you believe the left is tolerant, open-minded and democratic, you're in for a rude awakening" by Limbaugh (Please read: Liberal Censorship and Its Roots by David Limbaugh) I am so disappointed in my fellow americans, the kool-aid flavor "change" was flowing and no one bothered to research the recipe, or that it's ingredients good harm us all.

Palin 2009!
SARAH PALIN'S SECURITY CLEARANCE

Before you dismiss the fact that Sarah Palin is Commander of the
Alaska National Guard, consider this:

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor
defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska
National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from
ballistic missile attacks. Its on permanent active duty, unlike
other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska , Palin is briefed on highly classified
military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her
exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's and
certainly by far exceeds Obama's.

She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense
Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into
Homeland Security's counterterrorism plans.

Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to
the entire country's defense. Given Alaska's proximity to Russia ,
she may have security clearances we don't even know about.
According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in
February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to
keeping secrets.

She can be entrusted with our national security, because she
already is.

tired of the punitive liberals bashing
A simple analysis of the relative experience levels of Sarah Palin compared to either Democratic candidate puts this to rest. For over the past decade, Sarah Palin has been involved in executive decision making at increasing levels of elected positions of public trust. Obama has no executive experience, Biden has no executive experience. During that time, Palin left off running an actual private business in Alaska, a commercial fishing business and was elected to her city council and then, in quick order to be Mayor of her home town. She did so well there that she was ultimately elected to be Governor of the State of Alaska, managing 17,000 personnel and a 9 billion dollar budget. Obama and Biden have absolutely no comparable experience at all, neither of them. There is also a part of Sarah Palin that most hard working, patriotic, and committed Americans are coming to adore about her. She is real. She is authentic. Not only has she stood up to corrupt politics and the old networks that have produced so much waste, fraud, and "bridges to nowhere", she is also a regular person, and authentic all-American girl, wife, mother, and citizen. She has actually walked the walk of reform and change instead of just talking about it.
She does not come from privilege, did not aspire to it, or become placed in it. YES She did not attend the Ivy League or prestigious schools. She has gotten to where she is by pure honesty, integrity, and strength of charachter and has been raising five kids and enjoying life while doing so.All of this drives the leftist and anti-American crowd mad. Sarah Palin is the real deal. Young, refreshing, committed wife, mother, American citizen. She is the real deal when it comes to the change that is so much needed in American politics, particularly in Washington. She represents in fact, and in her own actions, what so many others (including Obama and the entrenched Biden) only talk about, and then go on with business as usual.

Kimberly
Experience is of little help when you can't string two sentences together that are intelligible. Ineloquence at the level Ms. Palin demonstrated almost without fail during the entire campaign is a sure sign of diminished capacity. The woman could not even intelligently articulate the duties of the office to which she aspired. Call me silly, but I wouldn't dream of pulling the lever for someone who seemed like a deer in the headlights when she wasn't reading from a teleprompter. There are many qualified Republicans. She is not one of them. Doing "such a good job" at being a Mayor of a town of a few thousand people doesn't qualify her to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency. And her record as Governor included her supporting the "bridge to nowhere". It's interesting that you brought that up. Support anyone you please, for whatever reasons you please. But someone is not anti-American for having a different opinion. Let the knee-jerk reactionaries use that tired rhetoric, and rise above it.

George, you missed Kimberly's point...
...and your bias towards Governor Sarah Palin is blatantly obvious. Gov. Palin is very intelligent and she can certainly string two sentences together. It amazes me how Obama supporters and the m.s. media attacked this lady on such false and idiotic claims of inexperience with public persona. The media can build or break who they want. The problem with your theory that she was not a qualified candidate lies in the fact of how aggressively Obama’s campaign and the media went after her. If in fact she was not qualified, then the process itself would have done the McCain campaign in from the beginning. Since Sen. Obama and the media relentlessly went after her with under-handed and dirty reports, this proves that she was a force to reckon with. I’ll never forget the looks on Obama and Biden’s faces when McCain announced Gov. Palin as his VP pick. You could tell then that this was not what they were expecting and that they had to re-strategize (which obviously helped them in the end along with the fact that not many Republican voters were sold on McCain). But even with their attacks and a lack of enthusiasm from conservative voters for McCain, the McCain/Palin ticket almost pulled it off. Remember, McCain and Palin were leading in the polls by a healthy margin until the financial crisis was reported on in September. This is what propelled Obama to the finish line. Gov. Palin was a bright spot for many conservatives and the number of people at her rallies proved that. Sen. McCain was unable or unwilling to give people a reason to vote for him on Nov. 4th. Gov. Palin being on the ticket did not dissuade people from him, but actually brought people out to vote for him. Their inspiration was her. Why does it matter that Wasilla is a town with a “small” population? What matters is how effectively one does the job and apparently she did a good job to be elected governor. What did Obama or Biden accomplish in their legislative roles in the Senate?

Chelita
I didn't miss Kimberly's point at all. I just didn't agree with it. I don't form my opinions by following the lead of the media. I heard the woman repeatedly respond to questions with incompehensible answers. Her behavior with the winking duing the debate was puerile and cloyingly saccharine; one so inept at extemporaneous replies cannot be as intelligent as you claim. If you sound and act like a dullard, you must be one. I don't vote for dullards. You vote for anyone you choose, it's your right.

Thank-you Chelita
Thank-you Chelita, Well said. Palin can speak just fine with out a teleprompter, She did so many times. Unlike the bho and hiden biden. McCain should have come out and explained how the financial crisis began, we wouldn't be in this mess now, we would be looking at a much brighter future. Now we are all left looking at a fraud of a pebo without a teleprompter voting "present" or hiding his lack of knowledge with his new response "one at a time". ( It's sort of like voting present ? ) George I suggest you read: Why the Mortgage Crisis Happened By M. Jay Wells http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/10/what_really_happene d_in_the_mo.html -You might feel differently about the fraud that was elected with untraceable funds.

Kimberly
We needn't keep up the dance we're doing. I provided a quote, one of scores I could have, that as clearly as possible highlights the ineloquence and lack of evident intellectual capacity of Ms. Palin. It isn't that she fumbled once or twice, we all do. I make no claim to perfection. But that quote was indicative of her responses over a very long and arduous campaign. Eloquence, by itself, is surely not the sole indicator of mental horsepower. But noone with that level of ineloquence, especially after having served as Governor, would ever earn my vote. And, the eloquence issue is actually a distant second to the much more important issue - she could not even articulate what the duties were of the office for which she was aspiring. Again, there are very many qualified Republicans, she isn't one of them. If she inspires you, so be it. We just have to agree to disagree on that point. She just inspires me to resort to ridicule, gosh darn it, which I've been rather circumspect to avoid. It doesn't serve any purpose to continue what could reasonably be called a pissing contest. So go in peace, and continue acting on your beliefs, as I do. Take care.

palin
Sarah Palin, the perfect female, feared by liberals with their expensive ivy league diplomas, which are actually worth nothing, hated by the media, worth less than nothing, envied by whiney women and blacks. Sarah, the only person in the 08 election with real leadership and business experience, relied on faith and work instead of the government.

Gerald
Noone fears Sarah Palin, except those of us, especially Republicans, that cherish intelligence and eloquence. And mock Ivy League diplomas all you want. Generally people without them deride them. It's odd you would discount degrees from the most selective institutions, those very same hallowed halls that educate the most intelligent conservative leaders. Odd, indeed.

Another inbred idiot...
Um, I think that, um, you know, Caroline Kennedy, um, you know, Schlossberg, is a, you know, inbred idiot, you know?

I know parrots who speak better than her.

And her father never impressed me either:
