Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

The contentious 2008 Election has finally come to a conclusion. Divisions in America are as pronounced as ever before. Not since Franklin D. Roosevelt of the Great Depression era has a president assumed the office with the nation in worse trouble. Will Barack Obama follow in the footsteps of the Democratic icon and push the country to the left? Are big government and liberal ideals poised for a comeback? The answer is almost certainly “yes”—and like a good old southern saying, “things will be a changing, folks.” “Live and let live” will be the drumbeat of the ruling left.

But chin up, orthodox Christians. We know how our story ends. Our joy is not dependent on happiness or happenings.

And don’t forget there are a few bright spots. The Democrats failed to obtain a filibuster-proof majority in the U. S. Senate while U. S. House Republicans gave up more control to the Democrats. Marriage that is limited to a man and woman carried the day big in Florida as well as California and Arizona.

But in the months ahead the waters for the good ship United States will be filled with rip currents and unexpected dangers just below the waterline. We will be tested in ways unimaginable just a few months ago. How we respond and to what degree we seek the Lord and his principles will determine the future of our beloved land.

The foremost issue on the voters mind was the economy. Barack Obama will forever be thankful for the financial meltdown of our country. It put him in the White House.

We have witnessed unbridled greed and irresponsibility in a runaway housing market that saw its bubble burst. The result in many neighborhoods is a downward spiral in home values. This trend is frightening to many Americans whose only nest egg for retirement is their home. For others with declining values in their IRAs and 401(k)s caused by the dramatic drop in the stock market will postpone or eliminate plans for retirement. It will be an opportunity for those facing uncertainty in their golden years to renew a sincere dependency on the Lord and not on their riches.

Abroad, the war in Iraq will be gearing down and much of our troop force will be withdrawn. But before we celebrate their return we’ll learn that many of those troops will be redeployed to the mountains of Afghanistan to fight the insurgent Taliban and the elusive Bin Laden. That may well be the only area of military emphasis in an Obama presidency as the military budget will more than likely be reduced as a result of the declining economy and a redistribution of defense revenue to accommodate domestic social programs.

Russia will test the United States’ resolve in many ways as she continues to muscle her former satellite states over oil dominance while strengthening their relationship with Iran. And speaking of Iran, Israel will now have a tough military decision to make now that their close relationship with the U.S. will probably experience a thaw. Iran may be close to developing a nuclear weapon. Does Israel go it alone to take out Iran’s nuclear plutonium site and if so, when? Some predict a strike could happen before the presidential inauguration in January.

Will there be a firmer push by Obama’s State Department to force Israel to accept a two-state solution with the Palestinians, possibly including a dividing of Jerusalem? Many will see ominous signs if a forced two-state solution leaves Israel vulnerable while additional conflict escalates in the Middle East.

Vice-President Elect Joseph Biden was correct to point out that the new president will be tested in his early days in office. Barack Obama’s responses to those challenges need only to be preceded by the fervent prayers of a God-fearing remnant.

Freedom of speech will be under attack as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will almost certainly try to pass the so-called Fairness Doctrine on America’s radio waves. Obama may opt to implement the restrictions by executive order through the FCC. Think of a day without hearing from your favorite ministry or listening to your favorite talk show host. We’ll need your help in Washington if they move on this issue.

For Christians, thoughts about the sanctity of human life and the real possibility that unborn children will be more at risk in a woman’s womb are most disturbing. The fight for life has never been easy and we must resolve right now not to give up.

The coming changes to our world will not be easy for social conservatives. But be comforted because our Savior is still the Kings of Kings and Lord of Lords. He will never forget us nor forsake us. In fact, I believe the soil may soon be ripe for a new Great Awakening in this country. Man does not have all the answers, Jesus does. Let us be ready to share the true hope that is the basis of our faith. For it is through this present adversity that we can experience our greatest moments of sanctification. Let us accept the challenge to be steadfast in Him and take this opportunity to reach out to a misguided and hurting country.

Pray!
Whatever you do, PRAY that Obama does not fail!

Amanda
I personally want Maobama to fall flat on his obnoxious, arrogant a$$! Only then will the useful idiots come to their senses (maybe)!

RIGHT ON BUNKLEY !
THERE IS ALOT TO PRAY ABOUT!HOPE WINS EVERY TIME HIS NAME IS JESUS CHRIST!THE ONLY HOPE WE HAVE THAT WE CAN COUNT ON!

Nov 4 2008…Judgment Day…

First I would like to congratulate Obama for the greatest of victories. He got his moneys worth from the Democrat Party Machine, ACORN, and all the other supporters of his campaign. Lies and deception won-out this time and once the truth is known President Obama will have a lot of explaining to do and will become history’s answer to; “WHY DID AMERICA IMPLODE ON ITS SELF”.

Now… (I hope I am wrong) Let the revolution begin with…”WE THE PEOPLE”, have decided that our founding fathers were wrong. Their principles, ideals and their American Dream flawed. “WE THE PEOPLE” have decided that the Socialist principles, ideals and the Marxist Dream are a much better way.

I find it unbelievable that America would elect an unknown far left Liberal/Socialist as President of these United States of America. What have we done? Do we realize that we just enabled a far left Liberal/Socialist agenda upon ourselves? Our forefathers must be turning over in their graves. Mr. “HOPE AND CHANGE” with lack of grit will, both at home and aboard; be tested early and often. What if he fails these tests? Then WHAT…? Can we afford his failures?

We have chosen an intelligent, eloquent but untested conman as our leader of the “Free World”. The obvious apprehension is that the anointed one is a stranger—a deeply engaging, elegant, brilliant but flawed stranger with whom we had a torrid affair. Once we wake up, we will see the ring and wonder who exactly we married last night.” If President Obama is able to parley Congress to get what he has promised (taking from Peter and giving it to Paul; you will always get Paul’s vote), this wake-up-call may come to late to save America. We made the mistake of giving him the ring on November 4th. We were so disposed in doing so, only time will tell if we will live to regret it. Nov. 4th, 2008 will become known as “Judgment Day”.

Amen, Diamond. No matter
how scary the thought of Obama and his leftist illuminati ideals are, at least we know that there is someone even the Great One has to answer to: God.

Obama, the false prophet ...
is already in hot water, as are his circle of adviser illuminati. God remains on the throne, ready to judge all. There is peace in that realization for those of us who know Him intimately.

Let not your heart be troubled!
Remember, we worship a very big God and HE is on the throne. He never promised an easy life, we have to go through trials and grow stronger for it. Seems now is the trial time. Keep the faith and allow Him to work through us to steer this country back to the road we've veered from.

reasonable column
This was a fairly reasonable column. Not that I agreed with all of it, but where it goes wrong are on policy issues rather than on trying to gin up bizarre conspiracies. (The comments seem to take the latter approach).

The fairness doctrine has always seemed a bigger bugaboo on the right than an actual policy goal on the left, so I don't see that being part of anyone's agenda.

And the US has neither the desire or the ability to force an agreement on Israel, although they would benefit, particularly in safety if such a deal could be reached.

And I suspect that fetuses' in the womb will be better protected by progressive policies that affect the root causes of abortion than they are by attempts to criminalize abortion.

But these are all, at least, serious issues, and not ones based on wacky beliefs about Obama being secretly an X.

rights of the unborn
Abortion measures were abundant in this election. S Dakota had a measure to ban abortions and it failed. Colorado had a measure to declare live begins at conception and it failed by almost 1 million votes.
It remains a choice. if you oppose abortion don't have one.

Good commentary
Good commentary by Mr. Bunkley. I am saddened by the choice Americans made with B.H. Obama. His presidency will be an all out assault on conservative values and our Constitution so it will be an uphill battle for conservatives against his policies and his ideologies. I pray we prevail.

Community Organizer
There goes the neighborhood and Wall Street is reflecting that opinion.

The Obamamaniacs say
that in ten years we won't need oil and coal. We will have all these alternative energy sources. We will have all these wonderful lives, etc, etc, etc.

It won't happen. To do this, the people that can develop these things need money for this purpose. Government already takes half the operating capitol of every business and industry as taxes. This is why so many thousands of employers went out of business or out of the country since 2000.
Now Obama wants to increase that to three-quarters (3/4) or more just for the feds. The recession his election has caused will make things even worse, with states and cities increasing taxes and taking even more from businesses that provide jobs and things that make life better.
Coal powers trains and power plants and converts iron into steel. When Obama puts the coal industry out of business, we won't have any of this, no coal and nuclear power, no steel to make almost everything, no trains to transport people and products.
You are so going to regret voting for the Obamanation and the Demoncrats.

Pray, America
Fly the flag upside down to show distress and pray with all your might and I'll be praying also.

The Look Ahead
Conservatism has taken a body blow, no doubt, but we are not out for the count! You can bet that the liberal left, all flush with “victory”, will overplay their hand in very short order and with hubris typical to their kind (different and inferior species) they will hoist themselves up by their own petard and disgrace themselves royally. Hopefully, they don’t take the Nation down with them!

In all this liberal
partying and celebrating for the Savior ending the Republicans' rule, there will be plenty of slip-ups and typical Democratic indiscretions. Sandwiched between those will be the broken campaign promises of Obama and his leftist illuminati cronies. Welcome to the new and improved America!

Obama-liberal-Nazi's
Jason M. Leavitt wrote (some of this might be plagurized but i cannot remember, because I am handicapped: some words and thoughts are mine but some are not)
Obama is far more dangerous than Bush because he can sell a line to those who are in the trance while Boy Bush could not do that on anything like the same scale. Bush was a transparent idiot with no communication skills who needed massive fraud at the polls to get him officially 'elected'. He could never be the figurehead to inspire a mass movement of the people to support some vacuous 'hope', 'change' and 'believe' when they don't even know what those words are supposed to mean.
One of 'his' (his controllers') prime targets are the young, just as they were with the Nazis and the Hitler Youth Movement. If you think this parallel is far-fetched then just wait. One can see how extreme Obama worship has already become for some young people.
Ever wonder where are country, or rather world, will be in the next few years...well with that being said, I will say that I am not all that concerned (Romans 8:37-39). But I was just meditating on possible cause and effect relationships regarding our current events in relationship to God's Word. And I thought about the blessings/curses depicted in Deuteronomy...
