Poll
Do you feel the leaked information from a global warming alarmist organization is meaningful?

Florida delivered as promised as national front runners were singled out in the state’s primary contest. A record-setting turnout gave Senator John McCain 57 winner-take-all delegates and Senator Hillary Clinton a little more than a few days of bragging rights. The Democratic Party had stripped Florida of its delegates as a penalty for moving its primary ahead of February 5.

Floridians were also voting on a Constitutional Amendment to lower property taxes— bedeviling pollsters once again as the amendment brought out more voters, including more moderate voters, which helped give John McCain a clear margin of victory. These casual voters were not factored into Mitt Romney’s game plan and it cost him dearly.

McCain also had last-minute help from Senator Mel Martinez and Governor Charlie Crist. The Martinez endorsement was influential with south Florida Hispanics who hope for a more flexible plan to deal with the nation’s illegal immigrants. And Governor Crist had long been in the Giuliani camp, his last-minute switch from Giuliani to endorse the Arizona senator further helped McCain. (Rumors are Crist brokered his support to McCain for Vice President consideration but the McCain camp is denying it.) Jeb Bush, whose former campaign team and staffers ran the Romney effort, personally stayed out of the endorsement bidding process, hurting the former Massachusetts governor.

And who may be making the best case for V.P.?

Mike Huckabee finished fourth, right behind Giuliani but had a successful week of fundraising in the state. He remains the least talked about candidate in national media circles, but he may be holding the keys to the White House. Not for himself, mind you, but for another.

Many agree that the results in Florida are a good sampling that mirrors the country as a whole. In light of that, look at how Huckabee faired with the evangelical base. Remember, they are voters that Romney also needed to win in Florida as well in future contests.

According to Florida exit polling conducted by Edison Media Research, among those who identified themselves as evangelical Christians, McCain received 30 percent, Romney 29 percent and Huckabee 29 percent. This three-way split of the “values” vote indicates confusion within the base, probably over Huckabee’s electability and the division of who, among the other two contenders, is best suited to carry the social conservative agenda. Good article
While McCain certainly is not my ideal candidate, A McCain/Huckabee ticket would do quite well in November IMO. It would also show how little influence so-called conservative talk radio actually has over politics, which considering how deranged the Rush/Hannity crowd has become these days, that would be a very good lesson to them!

Anything that keeps the flip-flopping Romney off the ballot in November is a good thing!!!!!

Cavalier, And clean campaigns?
Dude, he has been whacking Romney in public and private since his "devil and jesus" stint. just because he smiles doesn't make him nice. He hates Romney. Because of comparison adds in Iowa where Huck won anyway? spare me. Up until the anti-mormon pastor push in public, Romney was way up with Huckabee voters. He keeps cheap shoting Romney every chance he gets.

see what you want to see. i understand why you like him, but there are plenty of reasons why others don't want him for president.

Cavalier, you forgot to add
anti-mormon cheap shot artist. even though it worked to launch Huckabee thanks to the pastors and open public caucuses in Iowa, it also really aliented a lot of mainstream conservatives . . .

i also find it amazing that no one talks about Huck's history of ethical issues, paying himself to give speaches . . . . you guys would be going ape-stuff if Romney had done anything like that

cavalier973 ...time will tell and ...
If Huck accepts a position in the McCain spoils..

He will have been revealed and you will have been fooled :)

Huckabee is not scum
And he's not a liberal. He's Pro-life, Pro-Family, Pro-Marriage, Pro-military. He not only will try to make the Bush tax cuts permanent, he will work toward comprehensive tax reform (the Fair Tax). He's for winning in Iraq, he's for winning the war on terrorism.

And he's not splitting the conservative vote with Romney. If anything, Romney is taking votes from Huckabee, because the chatterati have people convinced that Romney is the only viable "conservative" candidate. But I think people are starting to realize that Romney has spent a lot of money with the weak result of a second place show (so far). Romney only wins states that no one else competes in, with the exception of Michigan where his dad was governor and where he promised federal money to save the auto industry.

And Romney just doesn't seem right; his switch to being a conservative seems to be a matter of political expediency.

Huck and leverage
The only way Huck has leverage is if McCain does not get enough delegates before the convention.

It is far better for Huck to have Romney win some states where Huck has no chance than to have them go to McCain.

If Huck voters supported Romney in NY and CT those delegates may not go to McCain. The same is true for IL and most of CA.

Huck is going to win the states he is going to win.

However, blocking Romney and giving the nomination to McCain will backfire on Huck. Huck does not offset McCain's weaknesses. McCain will not make Huck VP unless there is a brokered convention.

Even if Huck voters helped Romney win a couple of states that would normally go to McCain that would give Huck had a lot more leverage.

McCain will owe (and give) Huck nothing if he gets the nomination before the convention.

Huckabee Voters Think about this
If McCain gets enough delegates before the convention, Huck will have no leverage. Adding Huck as a VP does not offset McCain's weaknesses. McCain will not pick him unless he has to.

If Huck wants some leverage he needs a brokered convention. The only way that is going to happen is if Romney stays in all of the way.

The Huck voters in all of the states that Huck is losing need to vote for Romney on Super T. That helps Huck a lot more than giving those states to McCain.

If Huck divides the Super T delegates between McCain and Romney instead of blocking Romney then Huck begins to have some real broker power. If he doesn't Huck will get used by McCain.

huckabee shows himself
to be no more than McVain's little attack dog. McVain is the now annointed front runner and overtaking Huckabee in states long thought to be strong for huckabee, but who is huckabee attacking? Romney. makes no sense to me that he is really running for a win.
a contestant running for the "gold" would be pressing the leader.
Huckabee reveals he has sold his soul to McVain.

Hagar
what are you smoking my friend?

Romney will drop out, Huckabee will win
Romney is not winning in ANY super tuesday states...Romney is finished.

Romney's not even planning on spending money on a big super tuesday ad campaign...he will drop out soon and all of the anti mccaon support will go to Huckabee.

Romney was a fatally flawed candidate from the start..his flip flops and mormonism would guarantee a loss in the general election anyway...a minimum of 28% of republicans would boycott him in the general election!

When it is Mccain Vs. Huckabee have no doubt Huckabee will win!

How is Huckabee "Stealing" anything?
That operates on the assumption that Romney will get Huckabee votes. I expect they will be more equally distributed.

As a Huckabee supporter, I can quite definitively say that Romney doesn't get my vote absent Huckabee.

There is no reason to support Romney.

Running for 1st place
Mike Huckabee doesn't run for 2nd place. He and his supporters believe he can win. His supporters believe that he is the only true Conservative in the race. He supports the Fair Tax and was endorsed by Neal Boortz. He supports secure borders and was endorsed by Duncan Hunter and Jim Gilchrist. Only the cynics think that Huckabee is running for VP. I'm a Reagan optomist and a Huckabee supporter.

RA is right
Huckabee released violent criminals from jail and when the mother of one of Wayne DuMond's victims had the nerve to speak against his campaign, his first reaction was to attack her.

He has referred to supporters of immigration enforcement as bigots and racists. His standard response to anyone who disagrees with him is to question their Christianity (much like the previous posters did with RA).

Not to mention his numerous ethics problems, destruction of computer hard drives when he left office and theft of furniture from the governor's mansion.

Huckabee is scum and yes I am an evangelical Christian. The Bible teaches me to recognize evil when I see it.

Some trust in chariots...
...some trust in horses. But I will trust in the name of the Lord, Our God." Huckabee is the man we need to lead our nation during this difficult time in history. He is the only candidate that has proved trustworthy.

Response to Huckabee is a scum...
I am an Independent voter from Iowa, who along with my Democratic wife, attended the Iowa caucuses and supported Mike Huckabee. In talking to people in our area, many are turned off by Clinton and Obama and you are going to see some Democrats vote Republican this November. Huckabee garnered both Independent and Democratic support in the caucuses here. We had the best chance to get to know the candidates as it is all about little time and stretched resources now. Take it from the state that got to see all the candidates up close and personal, Mike Huckabee is the REAL DEAL! Romney is trying to BUY the election, McCain is a great patriot but is getting up in years, Guiliani was invisible in Iowa and he paid the price for that...I am NOT a religious fanatic; I am just very impressed with his stance on life, marriage and the fair tax. He is also a greater debater and would fair the best against both Obama and Clinton. I am not totally sold on joining the McCain ticket yet, but I think it is a viable alternative...I do know that I am going Huckabee all the way no matter what...I urge voters not to sit out this November if your candidate isn't on the ballot but just write in who you actually prefer. I am tired of picking between 2 evils and I think that it is time that we show the media and the political big wigs that we will vote who we want to...

So No One Looks Like A Fool
Don't Count Mike Huckabee Out...the innings aren't over.
Remeber it's not over "Til the fat lady sings"
which that could maybe fit "RA's description"

EAT THEIR WORDS
All the know-it all's... FoxNews, Limbaughs, and the rest...that said, Mike Huckabee was after the Vice President position....
WRONG.....On the Jay Leno show last night who appeared with McCain and Jay Leno didn't even know he was going to show up "RUDY" and who said, he was going to campaign for McCain "Rudy"
They talked about McCain and Rudy going to foot-ball games together and how Rudy campaigned for McCain before.
Where all of the Know-All's have missed it, it is a race between Fred Thompson and Rudy G. for the VP. If you noticed from the beginning of Fred Thompson's campaign he had no intention of
staying in, he went in to take votes from Huckabee for McCain.Fred's statement on leaving
was " I hope I served my party well" how did he serve his party?????

What are you smoking?
"Increasingly, John McCain is sounding like Huck’s preferred candidate, should he get that opportunity."

I've heard nothing to suggest this reality. Since you don't support your provocative comment with any specifics, we'll have to assume it's simply for shock affect, or worse...an underhanded endorsement of Romney.

Step up and provide the evidence to the readership in this forum!

In Regards To RA Statement
You call yourself an Evangelical, I notice but,
I also noticed you didn't say Christian...which I am glad you didn't. And I also noticed you said "Attended"
Apparently if you go to church...you sleep
also, you must never read the bible.
RA wake up,dust your bible off and read James 4:11, if you actually have a bible and if you even attend a church, also, guess you slept throught this also," If you want to be forgiven, you must forgive" so where does that leave you?
And ask your pastor about,"Judge not, lest you be judged and with the same measure you use, it will be measured to you."

RA
Wow. That was quite the a loving statement from an "evangelical"!

I'm glad Huckabee is still in the race and chose not to respond in kind to Romney's attacks in Iowa. It's humorous to see Romney whining like a kicked dog now that someone is firing back at his pathetic record. Flip-flop Romney could never withstand the Democrats' assault in November.

Huckabee Is Scum
I'm an Evangelical who attends a Southern Baptist church. Huckabee is scum. He is forcing the choice between an ultra liberal Democrat or a Liberal Republican.

After this destructive power grab on his part he should not be elected to ANY political office higher than dog catcher.

If he stays in thru super Tuesday, his idiot and feeble minded followers will guarantee a McCain win and a liberal in the White House in 2009.

I will never forgive Huckabee or his stupid followers for casting this plague on our nation. I have lost a lot of respect for my fellow Evangelicals. The Huckster and his followers are a disgrace.

I thought it was obvious...
...That the Huck was running for vice president. He knows he is not going to get the big prize and just wants to be a king maker for good reason. He would get to address the nation,in prime time at the Convention while making his concession speech (don't forget the ego factor in that). He may already have been promised the VP spot by McCain behind closed doors if he stayed in,stealing votes from Mitt.

The problem is that he is not going to get the VP position for 4-8 years because McCain will NOT win the presidency. Not because Hillary-Obama are so popular but because so many Republicans will simply go fishing on election day. ( I am cleaning my fishing gear now and I want to get out early to get a good spot.)

PS: I thought Townhall misspelled Buckley's name,but this is a good,new columnist.

actually the media tagged Mike
as the Christian candidate. NY Times ran the note as the same time as they called him one of the best governors in the country but the biased and unfair boys at Fox News didn't pick up on that. Want a clearl analysis. McCain gets the NE and California(although that vote is split up in percentages): Mitt gets Mass, Utah, Colorado, and the northwest(although Mac and Mike get votes as those aren't winner take all either):
Mike wins Georgia, Bama, Tennessee, Arkansas and possibly alabama and Missouri(Mo is the prize as it is a winner take all and has more delegates than Florida) and majority from Texas. McCain goes to the convention with 950+ votes, mitt with 550 and Hike with 550. Winner needs 1091.

Huck supporters
Huck lost his chance as POTUS the moment he decided the best way to win IA was to run as THE CHRISTIAN CANDIDATE. In fact, Huck probably was smart enough to know that in doing so he'd have no shot as the nominee. So rather than blaming the MSM or Romney the blame lies with Huck himself. He decided to use identity politics in order to move the needle and this is the result. It has nothing to do with anti-Christian. If Obama ran as the "Muslim" Candidate would you be voting for him? Didn't think so.

Huck/McCain are LIBERALS
Huck is only in this to hurt Mitt at this point.

He hates his fellow Christians in the LDS Church and will do anything to malign Mitt for it.

He also has struck a deal for the VP spot so as long as he stays in the race, he keeps the GOP votes split and allows the Democrats to nominate the Republican candidate.

Huckabee stealing Romney's
true conservatives?
Before last week in Florida, the pundits, media etc... were selling as fact that Huckabee could only pick up the religious vote. And other than that, only the moderate to left leaning vote.

Now, after closer inspection of the Florida and South Carolina votes, it has been shown that those considering themselves true conservatives or extremely conservative came out strong for Huckabee.

So all of sudden it's Huckabee taking away the conservative vote from Mitt.
Spot light on conservative and Huckabee in the same sentence. It took awhile but they're starting to get it.

The labels:
1. Religious candidate
2. Only a social conservative
3. Too liberal
4. Today, gets the votes of true conservatives

Huckabee. The best communicator. The best new conservative ideas to lead.

Who really won the Calif. GOP debate?
Who really won the California GOP debate?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bVyLaU4HDY

Noooooo!!!!!!!!!
No more big government RINOs!

McCain/Huckabee is a losing ticket. McCain needs a REAL Southern conservative like Thompson to balance the ticket, not a nanny-stater like the Huckster. Sure, Huckster could help win Alabama, Arkansas, and the hillbillies in between, but would lose the rest of the nation in a landslide.

7 good reasons to support Mike Huckabee
Seven good reasons to support Mike Huckabee [be sure to read reason number seven]

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1962819/posts

Don't Give Up on Huckabee
And then there were three
http://www.nwanews.com/nwat/Editorial/61785/

I suspect, wherever Huck won't win, Mitt CAN'T win. If Mike dropped out right now McCain would take the Southern states over Mitt and McCain will take the RUDY states over Mitt. Mitt has nowhere to go. (Maybe Utah and Mass.)

Why? Its not about the VP.

Large numbers of Social conservatives (I don't believe) are as disturbed as the right-of-center punditocracy about McCain. We suspect we would be no worse off with McCain (Tweedledee), than we would with Romney(Tweedledumb). McCain is indifferent to our primary concerns, and Romney is insincere. Whoopee.

So, in both cases our central concerns take a back seat (if any seat). BUT, with McCain we get a man whose center is as an able commander-in-chief vigilant about the war with Islamic jihadists; with Romney we may be getting a man whose center is as an empty suit pandering to corporate America.

Now, I wonder if WND columnist Doug Wead is on to something?:

Don't Give Up on Huckabee
http://www.newsmax.com/politics/huckabee/2008/01/29/68254.h tml

If Huckabee has a realistic chance to win the states in his current target: deep South (GA, AL, AR), border South (TN, WV), west/central South (MO, OK). And, Lord willing, maybe some non_South --and I think he does-- then does he not also (if he succeeds) have a realistic chance at the big prize on March 4th, TEXAS?

Huckabee is in this to win
Are we supposed to be sheep? Do we vote for who the pundits tell us to vote for, or the person we think is best qualified for the job? Last time I looked most of the country hadn't voted yet. Let this play out without racing to close the deal. My state doesn't even have a primary until May. Doesn't my vote count?
After watching the debate last night it seemed more clear than ever that the political punditry is trying to steer this election. Why didn't they let all the candidates talk. No matter. The bias was clear and so was the winner. Mike Huckabee made the most sense and connected with the audience. (Even with all the strange camera shifts and lousy placement.) I will vote for Mike Huckabee and am now actively trying to spread the word about him. He's not just a man, he's a cause. I want a voice! He's the only conservative that didn't have to spruce up his resume to call himself one.

One Man Race
GJ is right. Huckabee will not only win many of the 1000+ Super Tuesday delegates, but a strong showing could turn the entire race on it's heels, and there are still another thousand delegates to go AFTER Super Tuesday.

I am voting for Mike Huckabee.

Kaniac, do you often speak to
pathological...

woops, ah! gotta go!

Anne will give me that look!

This is a 3 man race
Do not listen to the media. So much for Fox being fair and unbiased. They lied and told the public that Huckabee wasn't going to run in Florida, and he did. However, many people thought he had given up. Now they say it's a two way race. It's not. He and Romney and are in the exact same position nationally. How in the world does that work? If it's because Romney has the money, that is pretty sad don't you think. I am excited about Mike because he can SPEAK for us. To me, a President needs to be able to articulate a message. Mike is every bit as capeable and conservative as the other two. He is, HOWEVER, 100 times the public speaker and able to compete with the dems. Give him a chance!!!

Note to Kaniac
From Mitt Romney, Drop dead.

Note to Mr. Romney
Mr. Romney,
I am writing to strongly encourage you to drop out of the Presidential primary race and endorse Governor Mike Huckabee. At this point, realistically, you are very unlikely to garner more support and delegates than Senator McCain. Even if you were to do so, a huge percentage of American voters will refuse to vote for you (as, indeed, they will if John McCain wins) because they perceive you to be “not conservative enough”, and the Democratic candidate (whoever it may be) will end up winning the election. However, if you back Mr. Huckabee, and he wins the primary, your influence with more moderate citizens his with conservative and Christian voters, would be a huge force to be reckoned with, especially since it is this conservative block that is largely responsible for President Bush’s reelection in 2004. The liberal media understands this, and, therefore, how dangerous Mike Huckabee’s candidacy would be for the Democratic Party, which is why their tactics during the past few weeks have been to smear, distort, downplay or completely ignore him. Please take this into consideration and do not allow this to happen to our country. We cannot afford to lose the White House this year. Do the right thing for America.

HUCK TRYING TO HURT ROMNEY
Hucks sensitive feelings were "hurt" when Romney showcased his weak record during the Iowa election. So now Huck who is supposedly a "nice" guy, is tryint to stab Romney in the back by staying in an election he can't win. Can't anyone else see this? Huck hates Romney and he loves McCain. Is it too far a stretch to say the two have cut a back room deal for Huck to stay in the race and siphon off social conservatives from Romney? Even Rush believes it. This Huckabee chump is one shady character.

Thank You~
I am glad people actually realize that Huckabee is the most conservative. When you look at these peoples records its so obviuos Huckabee is the right choice. He is truely for the people and has never supported Gay marriage or never been Pro Choice. This is a man who sticks to his convictions and does not say only what you want to hear inorder to get your vote. The people out there who have taken the time to get to know Huckabee through his website have been changed. I have been changed, I see hope in politics. I am here blogging for the first time for my candidate. My candidate brings tears to my eyes when I hear him speak. I am not ashamed though, I admire this man's courage to stick up for truth, I admire this mans undying spirit to fight the good fight, this man of great integrity would make a very good president indeed. I am 24 and a server/student and I promise you that I tell every customer I know about Huckabee. I will start with small talk about...did you see the debate?...glad politics is almost over?...Then i will go on to talk about Huckabee, I first time donated to Huckabee, first time I signed up to blog, first time to make campaign phone calls. I am inspired and I want to inspire you to check him out with an open mind. Huckabee has my vote, certainly doesnt have the medias though does he? why is it that its a two man race with Huckabee 2nd in national polls? if its a two man race according to the media then why isnt it a Mc Cain/ Huckabee race?

Huckabee can still win
If Huckabee carries a few big states on Super Tuesday, he can parlay that into a Texas victory. With California being a non-winner-take-all state, and McCain and Romney splitting the other SW, NW, and NE states, Huckabee could end up with the biggest total.

It would be great to see the only conservative candidate in the race, Mike Huckabee, get the nomination.
