Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

The bad news is that it’s as ugly as many of us expected it would be.

The good news is that Americans are questioning it, and in many cases, rejecting it.

The “it” I’m referring to is the huge expansion of governmental power in Washington. It’s the kind of power that was promised from candidate Obama - - and, of course, it was promised to be all for our own good - - and is now been wielded by his fellow Democrats in Congress and by his administration. And for those who truly believe that government employees and agencies can and should solve all of one’s problems (and for those of us who actually know better), the first few days of the Obama presidency have been quite an eye-opener.

The government hand-out bill that’s currently being tossed around in the Senate - - the one that even Congressional members themselves only jokingly refer to any longer as an “economic stimulus bill” - - is a life-lesson in itself. The version of this bill that Speaker Nancy Pelosi produced in the House of Representatives was so wasteful, so welfare-like, so “pet-project,” so “non-simulative” that even her fellow Democrats in the Senate found it to be distasteful, and declared after the House vote that they could not support it.

Only a few weeks ago, President Obama’s stated intentions of a “stimulus bill” were to devote an enormous sum of taxpayer dollars to repairing, enhancing, and expanding America’s “infrastrucutre” - - roads, bridges, public buildings, and so forth - - with the belief that this spending would create work opportunities, and thus, “stimulate” the broader economy.

Today, estimates indicate that a meager 3% to 7% of the roughly $800, 000,000,000.00 spending spree has anything at all to do with America’s “infrastructure.” Worse yet, the “infrastructure” projects that actually are stipulated in the bill are so misguided, even the New York Times was prompted last week to publish a story about how Japan’s two decades-long spending orgy on “infrastructure” has done nothing to boost it’s national economy.

It must be quite a heady experience to be a “governmental official” - - to be able to control so much of other people’s money - - and to be able to spend it as you see fit, even if it’s not the way you promised that you would spend it. And by every indication, much of the new Administration and Congress is made up of a special breed of person who is not only comfortable breaking promises, but is also skilled at ignoring the most inconvenient of laws.

Consider that no less than four such “officials” personally selected by President Obama to serve in his Cabinet have been embroiled in scandal, and most of these have been forced to step-down. The first to fall was New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, chosen to head up the Department of Commerce, but then was discovered to be under federal investigation for allegedly granting government business contracts in his home state in exchange for campaign donations.

Then came the succession of three Cabinet nominees who, as it turned out, had all dodged the I.R.S. and had failed to pay their taxes adequately and on-time. Among this select crowd was, ironically, Nancy Killifer, the person chosen by President Obama to be the first-ever “Chief Performance Officer” of the U.S. Government, the person who would ensure our government’s “efficiency” and who would seek to eliminate “government waste.”

And of course, the irony among ironies - - there is our new Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner. Mr. Geithner is the one scandal-plagued Cabinet nominee who did not withdraw his nomination merely because he failed to manage his personal finances correctly. Today, Geithner is the tax dodger who oversees the entire I.R.S.

Is the scandal, and corruption, and “conflict of interest” that is so flagrantly on display in Washington right now a phenomena unique to Democrats? Absolutely not! Republicans have known their share of such misgivings. At the very least, an intellectually honest person would have to admit that while Congressional Democrats may have begun the modern-day “art” of earmark spending, the Republican-controlled Congress of the Bush-era most certainly “perfected” the art.

The difference between Democrats and Republicans in this regard is, largely, a philosophical difference, but it is a profound difference nonetheless. Contemporary Democratic thought insists that as long as power is concentrated in the hands of the “correct people,” with the “correct ideas” about how to wield that power, then there is no limit to the goodness that government agencies and programs can bring about.

Historic Republican thought has, until recent years, insisted that increased concentrations of power in the hands of governmental agents tends to corrupt even the best of intentions.

Today, we have a President who believes that the U.S. Constitution is flawed, because of its focus on what government cannot do to U.S. citizens, rather than focusing on all the wonderful things that government CAN do for citizens. And he is well underway with his efforts to do many “wonderful things” to us all, even as his well-intended plans continue to go sour.

It is time for Republicans to return to their “historic” philosophical underpinning. America must re-discover a healthy skepticism of government’s “wonderful things.”

It amazes me
that the Democrats have jumped on Bush for running up the deficit the first six years of his presidency by $2.6 trillion. Then since the Democrats have been in charge of Congress increased it by another $2.4 trillion in two years and promise to add another $2 trillion this year with this $1 trillion porkfest but that it is ok. Not only is it ok it is mandatory.

Right on, Mr. Hill!
You neglected to mention Daschle, tax cheat and conflict of interest candidate who was to bring us socialized medicine. At least these four had the decency to withdraw, so we wouldn't have to watch our Republican senators confirm them, like Hillary and Geithner.

Culture of Corruption & Hypocrisy
Richardson,Daschle, Rangel,Reid, Pelosi,Gore, Clinton,Geithner, Killifer, Obama, Biden, etc.

Where's our catchy phrase? "Hypocrisy culture", "Culture of Hypocrisy & Corruption", "Limosine Hypocrits", "Socialists", "Peloxists","Gorelicks" "Killoffthejobs", "Bidemytimixts" I should go to bed now.

What a gig?

Wow.

What a gig?

I want to be a Senator or a Representative.

Buy the job for half a million $, earn $5 million in bribes, pay off my backers for $2 million and I am still rich.

The Clintons were very poor, but after 8 years they are now near Billionaires.

Arab money? Chinese money? Don't matter. Money is money.

What a gig? Treason? Don't matter. We can stall.

"I can't remember, the worst December..."

But, after the statute of limitations had expired, the papers were magically found on a table in the foyer.

What a gig?

I can lie with the best of them, if I choose, but I always give myself away with uncontrollable giggling.

I am therefore, unelectable.

Dang ! Dang !

TurboTax
I noticed on a TV ad for TurboTax that they are offering some sort of door prize.
I hope if Mr. Geithner wins it he will remember to report it on his next tax return.
(Do we all remember that Geithner said he used TurboTax to calculate his taxes?)

What a gig, Part deux...

Oh, the O'Blammer campaign cost nearly a Billion Dollars. Sources unknown.

Suspected to be the same muslims that funded his life.

School, expenses, drugs, parties, money leveraged access to big name colleges, hidden grades, hidden theses, hidden birth certificate, hidden records of all aspects of his life...

Takes a lot of money to hide all this.

Now look at Porkulopolis Bill. PAYBACK TIME TO SOME.

Arabs ( muslims ) get a different payback. Look for it in the near future.

This fiasco has been at least a 30 year plan, with careful nurturing and tutoring by VERY BIG MONEY, for a specific purpose, which we are just now beginning to see.

Am I just a sceptic? I do not think so.

Politics for sale? Make me an offer I can't refuse.

BO and Blago
BO and Blago are cut from the same cloth. Only BO did less for more and followed more for less. Blago waved his finger at his fellow crooks. Now BO is waving his finger at ME, and I dont like it one bit. I dont agree with him that the friggin spending bill is cool enough to drool over. I don't want his policies to work because I don't want bigger government and I dont want to get screwed by him and his cronies. We now have a TAX CHEAT as Sec of Treasury. Don't you just wanna slap the boy (I can say that because he IS a boy and I am black).Folks, bend over. Y'all asked for this hope and change bullcrap. It is gonna be a rocky ride under the arrogant, vapid BO and his little dog too.

"Confession is good for the Party"
It's time for the Republican Party to admit that George Bush turned out to be so low of morals that the Democrats wouldn't have him. I admired him but he turned out to be just another Washington insider.

The Republican Party needs to clean it's ranks. Otherwise, why be a republican?

Though true, the argument that
GOP pork was OK because the Dems do it worse failed, as it deserved to do. But now we do indeed have Democrat pork. It could be worse. It could be McCain in there getting conservatism blamed for the meltdown. Now at least there is a chance that 6 or 8 percent of the naive fools that put Dumbo in the WH will realize they got diddled and slimed. This is all it would take to get him out of there. This won't be enough to reverse our slide, but its a necessary start.

BO Corruption
Why is it a surprise to learn that BO runs a socialist, centrist, and often corrupt administration. Where's he come from? What's his background? Who are his friends and colleagues?

Why is it so difficult to understand that Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, Dems both, want to promote the largest government expansion known to the U.S.?

When we became politically correct, thanks to our government education (or lack thereof), we stopped looking at people's background and experience and stopped judging people who wanted to represent us. Too bad for us.

Now we have a socialist and usurper president, a socialist congress, and basically a bunch of crooks wanting to take our money, and our children's money, so they can spend it as they choose. Good for them - bad for us.

Time to clean house and get rid of the rodents posing as our representatives in Washington. They aren't there for us - they're there for them. We've created our own royalty.

IMHO.

Re: Highlander Juan
Exactly right, Highlander Juan. Why are we suddenly surprised by Barry Dunham? He is a socialist who masks his true desires with a calm, friendly voice and a big smile. And that's enough to get "guilt ridden" white Americans and of course the MSM to ooh and ah over His Greatness.

More and more Americans need to give The Messiah With a Thin Resume our middle fingers - literally. This moron is an appeaser to our enemies and can't wait to shove big governmemt socialism down our throats with the phony issue of "universal healthcare". 85% of Americans have health insurance. The remaining 15% are illeagl immigrants, those between jobs and their insurance hasn't kicked in yet on their new job or those who choose not to have insurance at a certain time in order to make more money.

But the do-gooders, i.e., liberals and the media will not stop until they have everyone under govt. control. And the best way to control the population is to enact nationalized, universal health care.

Blunder on Blunder, Miracle of Miracles-
Dodge one for Barry once again,
Stood up for ethics - miracle of miracles-
Tax cheats enter Barry's den.

Blunder on Blunder, miracle of miracles-
We were afraid he was a clown
But as we knew so long ago, in Chicago
B.O. would make Bozo frown.

When B.O. forgave Geithner's 'err', that was a miracle.
When Hillary got the SOS Chair, that was a miracle too!
But of all his miracles large and small
The most miraculous one of all
Is out of that worthless 'Hope and Change'
Now we see he is deranged!

Blunder on Blunder, miracle of miracles-
BO is POTUS of our land
Now that he's there no miracles or miracle -
Just more danger from his hand!

When US Air lost its engines, (guess!) Was that a miracle?
But the pilot set it down in the Hudson (yes!) that was a miracle true!
But if we want miracles large or small
To look to Barry's a silly call
For you see what's obvious to me
Miracles Won't come from He.

Hey Juan
It won't be long before you "wish" that Obama would run a "Centrist" administration.

BTW I'm still looking for that portion of the bill that will address our lack of industrial production, or any kind of production for that matter. I mean, after all, isn't that part of our problem, we don't produce, we consume. We consumed so much, without producing, we began eating ourselves. This isn't "Voodoo" economics, we either compete and win in the current market, or we can forget how we have been living for the last several years.

This bill will immediately aid some left wing reactionary social engineers. The rest of the population may eventully benefit after they involuntarily enlist in Obama's proud and elite "Army of the Homeless."

Kumbaya, my brothers and sistahs

Its about Spending Stupid
Republicans have done a great job or twisting the intent of this bill. They say that it is not a stimulas bill it is a spending bill. Dah, and that it runs up the deficit. Duh, any deficit spending puts money into the economy and that is the purpose. Give money to the states, fund education, Resod the Mall in Washington are all stimulative. They either create jobs or they save jobs that would otherwise be lost. 40% of the plan is tax cuts which frankly are not very stimulative unless they are targeted at the poor. Tax cuts for small businesses are not stimulative because if you are not doing well you don't pay much in taxes and tax cuts do not stimulate investments unless there is demand so the Tax Cuts for Small Businesses do nothing.

As to the small percent going for infrastructure that is because Republicans and Blue Dog Dems demanded tax cuts and Republicans complained about anything that took too long to implement.

So whats really going on here. Circumstances have turned Barak Obama into the new FDR. If he is successful in turning around the economy it will change the face of American Politics for Decades to come. Programs that Obama puts in place will be difficult to dismantle.

So as Rush honestly said they want him to fail even if it means that a lot of Americans will suffer. They don't want things to get better and would rather see things remain bad for a few years so that by the time the mid-terms come around the public will be fed up and blame the disaster on Obama.

Curly, MI Feb 8, 2009 - 7:23 AM EST

Economically speaking, what we see around us is that capitalism, in the form of the huge multi-national companies and the financial capitalists, is getting stronger than many nations (maybe even the USA), choosing their business locations in the world from countries that offer the lowest labor costs and the best tax positions.

What I think we need to look at, economically speaking, is the fact that we charge 35% tax rates to corporations now, and that is one of the highest rates in the world. It is my belief that if we were to lower our corporate tax rate to 5%, we would see a resurgence of business in the United States that would be overwhelming.

But the socialists in power, our current control freaks, will never let that happen because it allows another force to be more powerful that them. And they can't take that.

Bunch of wimpy losers.

JMO51
It is difficult to know where to start to dismantle your stupid assertions.

Would you believe Forbes?

Why don't you investigate his suggestions for economic recovery? He thinks the current legislation is bad law.

Incidentally: How many workers will find jobs fixing the sod on the Capitol Mall? How long do you foresee this as a boon for the unemployed?

Obama ran on Tax Cuts! For 95% of Americans!!

AND all the stupid voters that gave him their voice believed the schmuck. Surprise!!!

Change?
So you voted for change and received more of the same. What happened to energy independence?
It's pay back time and they aren't even trying to hide it. They are all arrogant and they even have Republicans working with them to screw the American people. We all need to read the Declaration of Independence and think about the words written so long ago.

JMO51, NY Feb 8, 2009 - 7:32 AM EST

You and I have disagreed in the past. Forget about Obama being successful. He has too many things going against him, starting with himself and his own drive for personal glory. Let's consider a few of the things that will prevent Obama from being successful.

1. Socialism is a loser's philosophy. It kills everything it touches, including people and countries. It will kill us if we keep it.

2. Obama is in office for Obama, not the country. People recognize the signs of ego and self aggrandizement, and will gradually withdraw their support of the messiah.

3. Because he was raised by corrupt Chicago politics, his administration is composed of people of that same ilk. Many of these guys will end up in jail.

4. There are still several legal activities alleging that Obama (or Soetoro) is not a natural born citizen of the United States, and is therefore ineligible to be president. If just one of these cases proves successful (and I believe at least one will prevail), Obama is gone, and everything he has done is dissolved. That's change I can agree with.

5. As Americans smarten up (in spite of their government education) Obama's popularity will get lower than it is today. If you notice, his popularity is going lower every day. Not a good sign.

We need change alright. We need to throw the self-serving socialists out of the Office of President and out of Congress and return to the ideals that made America great in the first place.

We, the people, need to take control of our government again. That will mean an educated and involved electorate, stronger state's rights, better vetting of elected officials, government free education, lower taxes, etc.

The problems we have in our country now didn't happen over night, and they won't get fixed overnight. It will take time, but we can do it.

We have to do it.

Highlander Juan

There Is No Corruption
There is no corruption, only innocent and harmless mistakes. And besides, those who make the mistakes are so valuable to this nation that we absolutely have to overlook and forgive (ignore) any indiscretions.

Look at how valuable Tom Daschle would have been, with his experience and his connections, to the cause of socialized medicine. As for Mary Shapiro, who is to be the new head of the SEC, do a google search on Shapiro, FINRA, and corruption. She's probably the most valuable addition of all to Obama's team for the 'good' he wants to do for out nation.

Steven S. Delaney in 'What the SEC, FINRA, Shapiro and Obama have to do with "protect my principal"' writes:

"Here is the systemic problem: FINRA, under the guise of "Investor Alerts," proposes to be an advocate, a defender of consumer/investor rights. My opinion (along with many others), however, is that they are in no small way responsible for all this financial failure and for the individual losses suffered by average investors.

It all trickles down from above, and FINRA, along with essential financial marketing myth-builders, are setting consumers up for failure, setting false expectations and steering everyone into the market under almost any financial condition."

A Vet Looks at Barack Obama

Highlander Juan
You make a lot of statements not based up by facts. You say socialism kills. By socialism do you mean social security, unemployment insurance food stamps? Cause those are all very popular. Or do you mean government ownership of the major factors of production? That is socialism and I don't see Obama proposing that.

You say that Obama is in this for the glory, no one runs for president that does not have a big ego. Glory comes from being successful so if Obama gets some glory by saving our sorry butts after 8 years of the failed policy of the Boy King thats fine with me.

Truman was a product of machine politics but Republicans love to present him as the Dem they love the most. Better the knuckle bare politics of Chicago then the country club insider legacy frat Republican Political Machine.

Back to what made this country great. What made this country great were men like Teddy Roosevelt who were willing to challenge the Robber Barons and look out for average citizens. Todays Republicans are all about bring back the age of Robber Barons like the crooks on wall street.

more welfare programs that
will never go away.

from the Heritage Foundation....

According to a new study by Heritage senior research fellow Robert Rector, once the hidden welfare spending in the bill is counted, the total ten year fiscal burden (added to the national debt) will not be $816 billion, as claimed, but $1.34 trillion. Where is Obama going to find all the money to pay for this spending? Right now Treasury securities are selling at high prices and with low yields. But how long will credit be cheap? Will it still be when the Treasury is scrounging around in the international credit markets six months or a year from now? China and Japan account for almost 65% of total Treasury securities held by foreign owners. But their economies are also slowing. If they even start slowing their appetite for U.S. debt, a drop in world market demand for Treasurys could drive borrowing costs upward, and there could be a ballooning of the interest cost line in the budget that will worsen an already frightening outlook.

Last night Obama told Democrats, "If you’re headed for a cliff, you have to change direction." That's a decent analogy, but the problem is his Trillion Dollar Debt Plan is not a change in direction. It is a foot on the accelerator. Instead, the Senators voting today should take another saying to heart: "When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging."

Mrs Paddy
By all means go to your little bubble a place were you can all agree with each other unfettered by pesky things that facts. A place where you can congradulate yourselfs for all being so right, Eh I mean RIGHT.

One more thing Juan
Where have you been for last 8 years. One thing that was very clear from this election is that people wanted change. Change from what you might ask, change from what you want and believe in. Like a car that turned out to be a lemon, the country wants to switch brands.

JM051
The porkulus bill will fail to turn around the economy. It won't even stop the slide. I've been wrong before, and here is another chance to be wrong. You support the bill, apparently in the belief it will have some sort of beneficial efect. What is your prediction? Let's see who is saying i told you so in 6 or 8 months.

Bushonomics on steroids...
Seriously, where has Obama been the last eight years? What does he think got us into this mess? Where does he think those deficits came from? Here are the facts. Before President Bush took office, the federal government took in $2 trillion in revenue in 2000. In 2009, the federal government is expected to take in $2.4 trillion. After eight years under President Bush, the federal government is taking in $400 billion more a year in revenue. So why did Congressional Budget Office project a $1.4 trillion deficit for the 2009 budget? Massive spending increases. As McClatchy reports "George W. Bush, despite all his recent bravado about being an apostle of small government and budget-slashing, is the biggest spending president since Lyndon B. Johnson. In fact, he's arguably an even bigger spender than LBJ." McClatchy goes on to detail Bush's spending binge including an 18% increase in education spending, a doubling of agriculture spending, the 2003 Medicare expansion which was the "biggest single expansion in the programs history", and the $295 billion 2005 infrastructure bill.

So to recap, in 2000 the federal government spent just $1.8 trillion. Now the CBO estimates that the feds will spend almost double that, $3.5 trillion, in 2009 (and that does not include Obama's Trillion Dollar Debt Plan). Combining the increased $400 billion in revenue with the $1.7 trillion increase in spending, we see that the mountains of debt Obama is whining about inheriting all came from massive increases in federal spending. It was borrowing and spending that got us into this mess. Obama's Trillion Dollar Debt Plan is not a 'change' from Bush, it is Bushonomics on steroids.

Change we can believe in...I don't think so!

Mrs. Paddy, FL Feb 8, 2009 - 8:23 AM EST
Mrs. Paddy,

Thanks for the invite. I'll cruise by there in a short while.

Also, to support my thoughts about the illegal Obama, I have two additional thoughts.

Alipac has a very informative forum concerned with Obama's illegal status as a natural born citizen. See http://www.alipac.us/ftopic-137238-days0-orderasc-775.html for page 32 the forum. A quick review of the previous two pages will bring you up to date. This is a good forum.

There are now nine or so states that are in the process of, or which already have, asserted their rights according to the Tenth Amendment of the Constitution. All are listed on Alipac.

Bottom line, there is a lot going on in the Obama world these days.

Have a good one, and thanks again for the invite.

Democrat Party
The Democratic party is the PARTY OF THE RICH. (Say that again and again) Most of them are Tax cheats or tax debtors --- now I read that Al Franken that weasel who is trying to steal the Minnesota Senatorial election --- Franken owe some $50,000 in back taxes.

Buffet, Gates, Kerry, Kennedy, Clintons, Schumer and on and on are all very rich and they are Democrats.

The Republican Part is the perty of the middle class and the poor but the DSM (Down Stream Media filled with sludge and sewage) will never admit ---- because media owners Turner, Murdoch, are very rich and they are Democrats. Can you say democ-RATS. and RATS are very harmful pests.

little piggies...
this little piggie went to market (Dems) this little piggie stayed home (Reps) this little piggie got roast beef (welfare recipients) this little piggie didn't get none (taxpayers)...

as I watch all the hullabaloo going on in DC, it reminds me of watching a new litter of pigs fighting over the available teets on the old sow. BTW the sow always rolls over on at least one or two little piggies and suffocates them.

How many new teets is DC growing?

Farmer's Wife
Well said. Dumbo is not a change of direction, he is a foot on the accelerator. Its been frustrating to listen to the moonbats criticze Bush for reckless spending....and know they were right. But its obvious they were not criticizing spending, they were criticizing Bush. What dolts he, and the rest of the CINOs were to put thewmselves in this untenable lose/lose position. At least now the foot on the accelerator has a Dem label and unabashed "must" recommendation. This is better for the conservative cause than the back door stealth most of the CINO pork distribution had.

JMO51 NY Feb 8, 2009 - 8:35 AM EST

You've got to be kidding. 'Change' was Obama's theme, I'll grant that. But his voters, have been shown to be largely uneducated and were swayed by his smooth talk. The Pied Piper of Hamlin analogy comes to mind.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm1KOBMg1Y8

If the voters were really smart, they would recycle Congress, whose popularity rating was much lower than Bush's popularity rating.

Regarding my posted comments and their connection with facts. In my posts I express facts and opinions, just as you do. When I make definitive, non-opinion statements about some specific item, I can back up my comments with details, as I have been doing this morning on several forums.

If you have some specific comment I've made that concerns you, send it along, and I'll tell you if it was fact or opinion.

Now there's an offer that's hard to refuse.

Pistol, I knew...
we were in deep you know what when one of the first things Bush did was to let good ol' Teddy write the education bill...

Domestically Bush and CINOs became Dems best friends. I didn't see any of these clowns trying to cut spending domestically while borrowing more and more to pay for WOT.

It isn't deficits Dems hate, it is deficits that don't produce more loyal voters that they don't like.

National emergency....pishaw, spending at the speed of light. They are growing new teets on the old sow, but who is going to feed the sow?

The Obam-o-thon continues
Now we get Gov. Sabillius for HHC Secretary? This is another entry for the Never Ending Parade of Stupid. Da da dada dada da da da daaaa da.......

Just what we need - the witch who managed to get Tiller the Baby Killer off the hook, bankrolling more abortions and destroying the the best health care industry in the world (although flawed, due to previous gubmint interference with free markets).

The dhimmicrats are WAY over-reaching, as predicted. The sad part is, the voting public is protesting this pathological plunge into socialism, but unlike the Amnesty Bill, which the people denounced and rejected, they will shove this phony Spendulous Bill down our throats, bankrupt the country and bring about a serious DEPRESSION!!!

What are you who support it going to say in 6 months when disaster hits? It's Bush's fault? Grow up, get a clue.

when I mail my...
tax return this year, I may just send my check straight to where it going to wind up anyway...in the crapper, along with a note as to where they can find it.

THE RETURN OF PAPER TIGER AMERICA
America is seriously disconnected from reality with a leader who minimizes the danger we are in and widens the gap by the day. As weakness begets war its reality will return with a terrible vengeance with turmoil in the Middle East or new attacks on our shore. The 60s born Obama is the right man at this time to lead our war weary nation into peril. People and leader are suited to each other for both are blind and fast asleep, ignorant of the enemy and the reason for this war. 9/11 is prelude and the years preceding that attack are mindlessly being restored with an administration staffed with Clinton insiders and Hillary at State, a woman with the veneer of strength masking a soft liberal core. It’s the 1990s all over again with Bill and Hillary playing the role of mentors-in-chief schooling Obama in the soft-on-terror politics of the past, when America was seen as a "paper tiger" for treating combatants as felons and weakly striking back. Yes, leader and people are fast asleep lulled into lethargy by Bush's success in keeping us safe and the absence of an alarming threat. But the menacing clouds are gathering strength ready to explode and we'll be shocked out of sleep by the scourge of Moslem terror at home or abroad like never before.

Actually, I'm not shy of stating my opines on this thread, but it is nice to escape to chat with friends sometimes.

You may attack the messenger, but the botom line is your hatred for Bush blinds you to the fact that Change for Change's sake is not a great idea when you jump out of the frying pan and into the fire.

What abut 80% of Americans disapprove of the pork-laden, mis-named 'Stimulus' bill is difficult for you to understand?

Did you educate yourself on Steve Forbes' plan?

Or are you too afraid that it might shoot holes in the good ship Obamanation?

NSC
There's a power-grab underway: the NSC will move closer to consolidating national power "in the event of a national emergency." The "national emergency" can be something small - popular discontent, an unsympathetic press. Go back to the Reagan years, when such plans - developed during the Nixon years and after - were laid out "in case of popular resistance" to our invasion (which never happened) of Nicaragua.

Now that others hold the reigns, and the NSC is being revamped...watch out. Your freedoms are at stake, under Executive Order 11490. The order made sense, in the event of a nuclear conflaggration with the Soviet Union, but it was so open ended, the only thing keeping a President from using it was his personal good will and character.

Now that this character-less occupant of the oval office is already ramping up that machinery, you better hide your guns: there'll be no 2nd Amendment right to guarantee if there's no Constitution.

JMO51, NY Feb 8, 2009 - 8:29 AM EST

Socialism is a philosophy in which the government elites take control of individuals and commerce because they promote the idea (erroneously) that they can control things better than the people involved (actually socialists merely want to plunder the productivity of a successful nation for their own purposes).

Wrong and bad philosophy.

Aside from being able to successfully wage war, there is nothing I can think of that government controls, or could control, that would not be better served by the private sector.

I do believe the current financial crises has been caused by government mistakes and not by free enterprise. I also believe this crises has been a great excuse to pass an 'urgent' bill to rescue us all from failure.

B.S. It's all fraud and manipulation, and I don't like it at all.

And yes, I am an unabashed free market economist.

And you, my friend, appear to be an unabashed socialist.

Nice to meet you.

When Republicans spend money
the Democrats whine, "BUT HOW ARE YOU GOING TO PAY FOR IT?"

When Democrats spend money, the silence is deafening.

Blame Bush
Our own guy, I'm speaking as a republican, opened the bank vault for the crooks.

When Paulson started throwing around the big numbers - he gave them the thumbs up - he opened the vault - the dems are in the vault right now taking your money. Blame Bush.

Obama's On the Job Training

It is amazing what Obama has learned so far in his job as POTUS.

Windows and Doors are different, in that Doors have Door Handles and windows DO NOT have Door Handles.

WOW

There is no telling what he will learn by the end of his first month as POTUS.

carlos
i have maintained that bush went into retirement after the 06 elections. It seems his real regret that when the repubs lost control of congress he couldn't move back to texas and chop firewood.

That he had been a very poor steward of the economy by letting the repubs spend like drunken sailors when he should have been slowing govt growth has been well documented.

But the spending orgy by the messiah and the dims will make the country long for the days when the bush deficits were only $200 billion and not the $2 trillion we will likely see this year.

But both parties have long looked at the treasury as their personal piggy banks and it seems now that this porkzilla will dwarf any spending previously engineered by congress and a compliant president

Hope and Change
I voted for Bush and he repaid me with more defecit spending and more government. I thought maybe he had his eye on reelection and we would see some "change" in his second term. Once again I was humiliated with nothing to say when he did the exact same things I was unhappy with the Dems for. Now the Dems, not to be outdone, have out done it in just a few months. The only real hope for change is that the states are trying to reassert their rights and put the monsters in Washington back in their cage. I am hoping for term limits for all in Washington and, since they are ALL rich, that serving the people should be PUBLIC SERVICE! We shouldn't have to pay them to rape us. Not to mention even if we fire them they get paid, luxurious health benefits for life, all the things the slaves don't have, they award themselves. Maybe they should start their campaign of "hope and change" with these cost cutting changes.

Hope and change.
Well, we got it. Those that wanted change, from bush to Clinton. to Bush and now back to Clinton. Anyone remember the yoyo?

The only thing new about Obama
is his ability to get elected despite a total lack of relevant experience for the job. We now get to watch him learn as he goes. I can only hope the country will learn from this as well. We need more than a voting registrar with good speaking chops to assume this most difficult position.

People are listening & understanding
I am an artist and most of my customers are Dems.

I have heard this echoed from many of my customers, OMG what have we done.

Obama Picking Crooks NOT Surprising

The 'Tax Cheats' Obama has personally Chosen is probably the MOST HONEST people he has ever known or Associated with.

Barack Obama's friends, Mentors, religious advisers and alliances, look like the 'Who's Who of Radicals, Terrorists, Hate Mongers and Racists' in America.

The question is:

Are fundamentally flawed and corrupt people attracted to Barack Obama?

OR

Is Barack Obama attracted to fundamentally flawed and corrupt people?

OR

Is it just a mutual admiration society?

Democracy is dead!
More than 50% voted for Obama because they wanted Socialism! And with the passage of the Pelosi pork bill, more than 50% of the voters will be sucking on the Government tit.

That my friends is the tipping point that ends a democracy.

We have in less than three weeks shot past Socialism are getting deep into Marxism.

Those of you that believe that the Constitution and Supreme Court can save us had better think again. The Court has no power unless the Executive or Legislative branch provides it! Currently, both branched see the Constitution as a hindrance. Both will continue to ignore our founding documents whenever they wish. Elections and Rights may soon be a thing of the past.

It
"The “it” I’m referring to is the huge expansion of governmental power in Washington."

I'm glad we can both agree that Bush's huge expansion of the executive office, what is known as the "Unitary Executive" was unconstitutional and illegal.

I'm sure that is the "it" you are referring too.

"It’s the kind of power that was promised from candidate Bush - - and, of course, it was promised to be all for our own good - - and is now been wielded by his fellow Democrat in Congress and by his administration. And for those who truly believe that the President and agencies can and should solve all of one’s problems (and for those of us who actually know better), the full eight years of the Bush presidency have been quite a power grab."

Juan
"What I think we need to look at, economically speaking, is the fact that we charge 35% tax rates to corporations now, and that is one of the highest rates in the world. It is my belief that if we were to lower our corporate tax rate to 5%, we would see a resurgence of business in the United States that would be overwhelming."

You are absolutely correct a lowering of the corporate tax rate (we have the second highest tax rate of any industrialized nation) would most certainly help our competitive status. Money should be allocated toward research and developement of energy related products as well as other long term manufacturing projects. What we want is to provide jobs and income over the long haul. What we don't want is the type of shortsightedness advocated by your chief antagonist JM051 who thinks the resodding of the mall is a solution. So Little Johnny sods for a month. Where does Little Johnny go next month?
To use his clever phrase "DUH" Johnny goes back to being unemployed - problem still exists.

How's this for some convoluted logic:

"Tax cuts for small businesses are not stimulative because if you are not doing well you don't pay much in taxes and tax cuts do not stimulate investments unless there is demand so the Tax Cuts for Small Businesses do nothing."

It's hard to argue with that. Let the little buggers fail if they can't pay their taxes. It's survival of the fittest, "socialist style."

These folks can't see the forest for the trees. The benevolence of the "G" is choking me.

IMPEACH PELOSI AND REID
Obama was elected as POTUS and now we have Pelosi and Reid running the country. What a kettle of fish this is and getting more to stink by the day.

It is time to recall those crooks in Washington and have a special election today.

Back in January 2008 someone ask me what I thought about Obama running for POTUS and my answer then was that if the Democrat party of FDR and JFK could not come up with a better candidate than Obama, they must be using him as a front man. I have not changed my opinion since. His lack of experience in managing anything is evident and Americans will suffer as a result.

Huge misunderstanding of human nature
What the Democrats fail to understand, once again, is human nature. Power corrupts human beings. It just does. There are no "correct people" in a government system that can take mass amounts of money and NOT mis-spend it, mis-use it, and waste it. Republicans or Democrats, it doesn't matter.

An entertaining video showing this:

DISGUSTED AMERICANS SPEAK OUT!
THE PHONES AND EMAILS ARE GOING OFF THE HOOK IN WASHINGTON BECAUSE 'YOU' ARE CALLING/EMAILING…BUT WE NEED THE REST OF YOU TO DO YOUR PART FOR YOUR FAMILY…CONTINUE TO CALL AND EMAIL AND TELL THEM NO>>>NO>>>NO STIMULUS PACKAGE WHATSOEVER.

IF THE SKY IS FALLING EITHER WAY, WHAT DOES IT MATTER?

WE BORROW TRILLIONS AND PUT OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN IN DEBT AND TAKE A SHOT THAT IT WILL WORK - EVEN THOUGH THE BAILOUT DIDN’T

OR

WE CAN HANG TIGHT, TIGHTEN OUR BELTS AND WORK JUST ON HELPING THE HOUSING CRISIS THAT GOT US INTO THIS MESS IN THE FIRST PLACE AND TRUST THAT OUR SYSTEM WILL WEATHER THE STORM BUT WITHOUT ANY FURTHER DEBT!

==============================

AMERICA…WE ARE THE NECK THAT TURNS THE HEAD…IT IS HIGH TIME WE TURNED IT TOWARD THE AMERICAN TAXPAYER AND NOT A GOVERNMENT HANDOUT!

Barack Obama doesn't Listen

Barack Obama doesn't Listen well or comprehend what he does hear.

Barack Obama personally choose Jeremiah Wright to 'Mentor Him', Obama 'listened' for 23 years and then had no idea what Jeremiah 'God Damn America' taught or believed in.

Those of you who think Obama will listen now - Good Luck with that!

On a Positive Note for Conservatives ...

Unlike the Jimmy Carter years, the fair and honest Conservative movement of today has a modern organization. Townhall.com and hundreds of other information outlets were not available back then (although the MSM was just as ruthlessly slanted then as now).

Conservatives are now able to learn, share, and forward information at light-speed, even faster than the Dan Rather spins logic into lie.

We must remember that most American voters are ignorant, not stupid. When presented with facts from adept Conservative heroes, the tide of ignorance will wane faster than Jimmy Carter can flip America the bird from his perch in Havana.

Disclaimer: I am referring to the education of American voters, not the feral Liberals. Don't even waste your time on these mentally ill types, we'll leave that to the game warden.

Dear Barry - You are goin' down punk !!

retired geek
last week the meesiah, correct spelling btw, said wash dc was full of economists, implying not only was he one but that he fully understood what ails the economy but he knows how to fix it.

Whereas he says the country not only this $trillion in porkzilla, but additional $trillions will be necessary in coming months and years.

However I am waiting for him to explain, based on his experience as a world renown economist who is going to pay the bills when they come due.

But isn't this the typical nonsense we hear from american leftists. The reason socialism has failed other places is that the right people wren't running the scam.

It seems the american lefties now think that with the meesiah, corrupt land deal reid and pelousy, the dream team is now in place

"Earmarks" make me laugh
I read again this morning in an AP report that "the Economic Recovery Bill contains no earmarks". What a joke, it is one 665 or so page earmark. No one likely has read it, I've heard oponents can't even ask for a "reading" into the record to delay the vote because its' a work in progress. Contact the Congress..NO way should this be passed.

The bad news
"The bad news is that it’s as ugly as many of us expected it would be."

It really is as bad as I thought it would be. I remember all those people saying he'd be a centrist. Yeah, right.

Pie in the sky.

JMO51 you need to wake up
obama is a fear monger and have never heard a President threaten the people of the free world, not just American's.

Term Limits

Tax audits on all public held offices

If you cheat on your taxes that run this country, don't try to run it. Your out of here.

Please keep flooding your public officails, fix the housing mess first.......

If you have to pay back folks that got you in do it later. ACORN is still getting 400 million dollars in this pork bill. ACORN should be shut down

All involved scandal, not just some
Every person appointed by Obama has involved scandal, just not scandal of getting caught with their taxes down. Everyone who was not a Clinton retread, a scandal, managed to say of do something scandalous. Chu showed hope until he opened his mouth and claimed he is a scientist who thinks Al Gore is preaching science. Get him out of here, unless he is going to implement nuclear power plants to fight carbon dioxide emissions from combustion. That would be intellegent.

EILEEN - MI
I have sent e-mails to the two Texas Senators and all congressmen/women regardless of party. This morning I sent e-mails to the three Republicans in other states who may be supporting the Stimulus Bill, one is Arlen Specter.

The Democratic Budgeting Office has even said that this bill may not stimulate the economic and Joe Biden stated yesterday that there is a 30% chance that the Democracts may get it wrong.
He probably could not say 90% and stay as VP.

This bill is simply a pay back to the supporters for the election in November. One thing I have heard that is in the bill is funding for a Museum on the Mob organization in Las Vegas. Go figure, the Dems are looking after their own.

Common Theme
Bush spent billions you didn't complain? Why does the other side think the idea of John McCain representing the republicans was so hard to swallow? More of the same SPENDING.

The farm bill was a joke, the last stimulus was a joke, this one is a joke. At least with defense we get advances in lazers, advances in metallergy and ceramics with new armor for tanks and equipment, GPS and other technologies. With Iraq we at least got 50 million people out from under the rule of a tyrannical thug.

The Bush administration hands President Obama 350 billion of the surplus and what do they ask for? 800 billion more. Will we get free of Foriegn oil? Will we get 10 new nuclear power stations at 8 billion each? No, only 18 billion in the whole package for energy on the front end. Another 17 b. to modernize the grid. What does that mean? How does that get us off foriegn oil?

The congress passes spending bills. 89 Billion for temporary medical assistance, 60 billion for schools that do not teach now, 5 billion for community development (like the goups the get vote out, for no particular party of course)

This is not stimulus which builds to last. It will help pay off political backers.

The Greeks were right
Maybe democracy doesn't work. We had a good run...it's time to pack it in. Over half the voters are willing to believe anything or to vote for somebody because of the color of his skin (I thought that was racism and bad). So now we are left with posers, fools, children and the terminally ambitious running our government. You can proclaim facts at the top of your lungs and who listens? Californians are facing bankruptcy, maybe they'll listen someday soon. But the Feds print money, so heaven help us there.

Bob's Post Elsewhere
STIMULUS BILL ACCORDING TO MAXINE

"Back in 1990 the government seized the Mustang Ranch brothel in Nevada for tax evasion and as is required by law to collect back taxes, tried to run it. They failed and it closed. Now we are trusting the economy of our country and our banking system to the same nit-wits who couldn't make any money running a whore house and selling whisky."

Obama's lack of executive experience
... is becoming more painfully obvious with each passing day. The empty suit is learning that talking about being a Great Leader is a lot easier than being an effective leader. He's well on his way to a total meltdown, and may be the first President since Carter to self-neuter through sheer incompetence.

The result? Obama's approval numbers are steadily declining. Public support for his dishonestly named "Stimulus Bill" is tanking. This makes it far less likely he will be able to push his socialist/Marxist/Black Rage agenda. A neutered Obama? Now that's Change We Can Believe In!

naive punk
enough of this unqualified punk hell bent on bringing our nation to ruin. Impeach now.

All of this complaining

about the democrats doesn't really make sense. It was the conservative economic policies (redistribution of wealth to the rich) that has caused this meltdown. So how can you possibly expect democrats to continue with these failed policies?

As for the stimulus package, the democrats have already compromised in the Senate. They jettisoned legitimate spending (on education, health, etc). in favor of less effective tax cuts. At this point, the bill is roughly 60% spending and 40% tax cuts. I understand that republican senators want 100% tax cuts, but this would be absurd given what we know of economics and the failures of Bush's tax cuts.

I don't understand this silly talk about "socialism". Obama isn't remotely socialist, nor are his policies. Why don't you educate yourselves regarding the differences between liberalism, social democracy, democratic socialism, and socialism?

dr douglas, elitist parasite
I am still waiting to hear any of you lefties justify growing the deficit by several hundred billion just so you messiah can send out welfare checks to everyone for the next two years.

This fiasco was tried by bush whe he grew the deficit by some $250 billion last year to send out these checks which did nothing to helpt the economy.

Oh wait I forgot, deficits by the dims work to fix the economy while deficits by the messiah will grow the economy.

In answer to your question from yesterday, I do not advocate violence towards any in this country. However if a person is attacked by a violent person they have the right to defend themselves

Dr, Doug
The credit meltdown is from 60 years' of Dem. nitwit social engineering with financials like Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, and the CRA's demanding banks loan to bad creditors in unregenerate locations that don't produce capital replayment.

The huge foreclosure fiasco in CA is primiarily due to the push to get Hispanics homes without down payments, income, or assets. Now those *fortunate* home owners have skipped and even left for MX. Those loan ideas weren't cons. or Rep. ideas.

The entire cultural collapse with a million abortions a year and an epidemic of single mothers without income or prospects, the unrelieved drug culture, the degeneration in the arts and entertainment all come from leftist beliefs and promotion.

No cons. ever conceived of the drug culture as a way to run a country. No Rep. pushed for the sexual revolution so he could corrupt 12 year old runaways picked up at bus stations.

If you don't like the world in the US as you see it today, there is very little that is Rep. that made it. And the only thing that will save the US from current conditions is business and hard-working citizens. Not handouts and not welfare and not deficits.

I'll NEVER run for ANY public office...
...until I've had a certain question regarding politics and power answered to my satisfaction:

IS IT THE PERSON WHO CORRUPTS THE POWER OR IS IT THE POWER WHICH CORRUPTS THE PERSON?

I've asked this question of more than a hundred people, and none of them have given me a satisfactory answer thus far...

How about you?

DEAR BOB AT 2:08 PM
Thank you for joining with millions of us who are speaking up and speaking out by calling our Senators and letting "them" know who is the boss here. Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Libertarians and all others...if you agree...please call Monday (2/9) morning!

They need to hear our voices...we are the incentive for "them" to speak out...when they know there are enough of us behind them...they will have leverage to do what is right...and what is right is unifying together to defeat this overly bloated bill that will do nothing to create "permanent" jobs for our country.

It has been said that we need to focus on the "housing" situation, and I totally agree.

That is where this financial crisis started, and that is where we should concentrate our efforts. Congress needs to go back to the drawing board to make up a new bill for the housing and mortgage crisis before anything further is done.

America...if you haven't voiced your opinion to your Senator...please do so before Monday afternoon when the debate starts again on CSPAN (2/9 at 1:00 pm est)and tune in to see what this bill is all about!

Call them/email them...get them your message...no to this bill...housing only!

AMERICA WE ARE THE NECK THAT TURNS THE HEAD AND THE HEAD NEEDS TO BE TURNED TOWARD THE AMERICAN TAXPAYER AND NOT BIG GOVERNMENT ON IT'S ROAD TO SOCIALISM!

Pork
A Chinese friend just confirmed what I read on another thread that "pork" in Chinese is "Zhou Rou" and it rhymes with "sc*ew you".

CHANGE MEANS POLITICS AS USUAL SO FAR
So far, nothing new in Washington DC. Apparently hope is not working.

http://greensrealworld.blogspot.com/2009/02/our-ship-of-sta te-has-no-rudder.html

Wild Bill
How's this for starters?..."And the devil, taking him up unto a high mountain, showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him,'All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them;for that is delivered unto me,and to whomsoever I will,I give it.If thou therefore wilt worsip me,all shall be thine'". That's form Luke 4:5-7

Greek mistakes guided our founders
Our founders rejected democracy and formed a constitutional republic in Article 4, Section 4. Democracy authorizes three wolves and a sheep to vote on what to have for dinner. A limited-government republic would have prevented that, but we decided that we preferred a "wonderful" democracy and a living-document constitution.

God help our REPUBLIC. THE 5-4 DC Supremes never will.

Even Uglier
As Obama said in his interview with Bill O'Reilly when conceding the surge in Iraq had worked beyond his wildest expectations, Obama has failed so far beyond my best or worst expectations.
I challenge any and all Liberal Democrat Obamaniacs to name and be prepared to defend one thing Obama has done right on or since January 20.
Few have tried to meet the challenge; all have failed.
As Obama said on two matters, "I screwed up." I hope he has learned also from his overtures to Muslims that apologizing to or for them only got him his own words shoved back down his throat, and that he, like Hillary tried with her stealth HillaryCare plan, can expect failure or only partial success with much backleash if he tries to ride roughshod over the Congress as with his Porkulus Package.
I want him to succeed since if he fails the nation and all of us go down with him. He must, however, hope for change of his own behaviors if he is to succeed as the "one President at a time."

Legitimate spending?
What is legitimate (constitutional) about forced spending on government monopoly indoctrination and health? And, what happened to the goal in this country for individual freedom/responsibility?

Vouchers for students would add to that freedom while forced marches in lockstep with majority mandates reduce it.

$600 MILLION FOR GOVERNMENT VEHICLES

This amount is in the Stimulus Bill. Sounds like another auto bailout to me. I could purchase approximately 12,000 Hummbers for that amount of money.
Or better yet, the auto makers could purchase 12 Jet Stream planes for that amount.

Don't make me laugh, Mr. Hill
Mr Hill is remiss in his history lessons. He thinks the Republican party should "return to its historic philosophical underpinnings." So let's review the history of the Republicans and see if we can find those underpinnings: Lincoln--expanded the power of the federal government, started an unnecessay war. Grant--Most corrupt president up to his time. Expanded government, waged war on Indians. Hayes--espanded govt power. Garfield--expanded go't power. Arthur--expanded gov't power. Harrison--expanded gov't power. McKinley--expanded gov't power, started an unnecessary war. Roosevelt--really expanded gov't power. Taft--poured gas on the fire. Harding--did nothing, was incredibly corrupt. Calvin Coolidge--did little to expand government, minded his own business in foreign policy. Hoover--greatly expanded gov't power. Extended Depression + laid foundation for New Deal. Eisenhower--expanded gov't, used CIA extensively with bad results we still feel today. Nixon--corrupt. expanded a useless futile war, took USA off gold standard. instituted price controls. Ford--not in office long enough to do any damage. Reagan--expanded size of gov't. Expanded war on drugs. Almost started nuclear war. Bush--1st US pres to start two unnecessary wars in one term. increased govt, and made a massive tax increase. Bush the Lesser--worst President so far in terms of expanding government and blatantly lying us into war. Mr. Hill, if you want to go back to the days of Calvin Coolidge, I am with you. Otherwise, get off the dime.

Paul
Reagan almost started a nuclear war? Wow...get an MRI and some Lithium for the paranoia.

Paul in AZ
Let’s stay within our lifetimes, at least mine, and review the Lib Dem Presidents on the most important job of any legitimate government – national defense. WWII-FDR, HST; Korea-HST fought to a standstill in a ceasefire agreement often violated to this very day; JFK-Cuban Missile Crisis and Bay of Pigs fiasco, Southeast Asia War with his lying and that of his Best and Brightest – Ivy League-educated idiots, continued by LBJ until he quit, RMN stopped U.S. involvement in ways that JFK or LBJ could have used with honor and clear victory long before 55,000 American and an uncountable number of other nationals’ deaths, including Vietnamese, Laotians and Cambodians; Iran Embassy hostage crisis and debacle of a rescue attempt-Carter; Bosnia, Kosovo commitment of U.S. troops and other resources to NATO command, Blackhawk Down due to Clinton’s refusal to provide one or two AC-130s as requested by ground commanders, 1993 WTC bombing, USS Cole bombing and follow up attack on 9/11 to finish what the Islamic jihadists started in 1993 + more, Khobar Barracks bombing due to Clinton’s feckless responses like cruise missiling an aspirin factory in the Sudan; now Obama’s overtures to the Muslims resulting in his being ridiculed personally by them and more demands made of him by them.

Paul in AZ - 2
You seem a likely candidate. I also invite you to meet my challenge posted earlier here as #7. I see you avoided it so far. Give it a shot. I am asking that any Lib Dem Obamaniac (LDO) name and be prepared to defend one thing Obama has done right on or since January 20. Few have tried; all have failed.

Dead Ideologies
Mr. Hill says, "It is time for Republicans to return to their 'historic' philosophical underpinning. America must re-discover a healthy skepticism of government’s 'wonderful things.'”

And Republicans need to finally discover a healthy recognition of the corporate "less-than-wonderful things" that occur in the absence of prudent oversight. While there is plenty of blame to go around for the current national---and international---financial crisis, free market fundamentalism is a major culprit. People who still espouse its false promise have about as much as credibility as the dead-enders in Russia who cling to the dreams of Lenin.

Ronalds problem
Ronald you problem is you believe that Dimocrats who defend Obama are smart enough to defend him, this is not the case Obama depends on his sheep being of limited intelligense, if they were very smart they would be able to see through him and would not support him.

johninoregon
You are a real winner. Either you have been in a union job your entire life or have been a school teacher. I have had my own business for 25 years. And guess what it is bad when the government thinks it is it's job to watch and make business decisions for private companies. And wake up moron the financial crisis was caused by the government forcing banks to lend to people who could not possibly repay their loans. The private sector did not create this problem the government did. And isn't it just so wonderful when people like you think the democrats who caused all of these problems are going to fix them.

The Memorys of all Dimocrats
Dimocrats blame the current economic problems on President Bush and the Republicans and convenintly forget that the Dimocrats were in charge of congress the last 2 years even before the crisis started whats up with that.

Dr Douglas What
Are you spreading drivle about, are you saying there are no rich Dimocrats. All rich people are not Republican only the smart ones. If you are truly a Doctor then you are rich and i can tell by the lack of common sense that you are a Dimocrat. Do you want me to believe that you want to give even more of your money to Obama to distribute to poor people who refuse to work for it. The point you morons continue to mouth is that Republicans only give tax breaks to rich people, this of course is a lie, republicans want to give tax breaks to everybody no matter their income level. You alredy know this so how do you justify lieing like this.

Truth Is All In Your Mind
If you have refused or ignored one side of an issue because you have already made up your mind by agreeing on hearsay by others'How can you call yourself informed or even fair if you refuse to hear the other side based on rumours you heard?

A whole lot of Americans have destroyed their own individual freedom by playing political games for personal gain. This is fact. Disagree if you want...but facts seem to always show up when it's too late on today's political stage..

Frequent Taxpayer Fix
"I think it’s time for a comeback for civil disobedience. The only thing that angers me more than the rampant elitism and corruption in our government is that apparent tolerance for it that was demonstrated most recently with the appointment of what is almost certainly a tax cheat as the Treasury Secretary. Surely I am not alone in wondering why I am a big enough sap to pay tens of thousands of dollars in Federal taxes each and every year, while our Washington bureaucrats seem to get away consequence free with a pattern of cheating and fraud. And please, don’t tell me Tom Daschle didn’t get away with it. Sure, he lost his position for a cabinet position, but don’t you think he will be laughing all the way back to his millions-a-year “consulting” gig? Will he be prosecuted for his fraud like I would be? Did he pay any penalties? No, and no.

Since my single, solitary vote is nothing more that a BB in a machine gun world, I intend to start practicing civil disobedience. In the case of Treasury Secretary Geithner, I am going to have a rubber stamp made that says “Tax Cheat!” in block letters. Every time I see a piece of paper currency with Geithner’s signature on it, I am going to stamp over his name with my Tax Cheat stamp. Sure, this action is just as futile as my vote, but eventually maybe others will reach the same conclusion that I have: it is far past time to make our voices heard." - DaveG at Where’s the Change?

The bottom line is that
Democrats have only been in power for 2+ years and already the public is suffering for it. When Republicans controlled the White House, and Congress, they worked together to 'stimulate' the economy. Once Democrats where in control of Congress you've seen a slight recession turn major as they refused the very bipartisan relationship that they now hail from the mountaintops in order to work with the Republican President. They refused to give regular taxpayers a break (Main Street) so they could keep their homes and/or businesses running, opting instead to give a handout to Wall Street CEO's who promptly partied with it. For their trouble the American people also gave them the White House. Now they are intent on giving Wall Street, the UAW, ACORN, Planned Parenthood, Governors (Democrats I'm sure), and illegals a giagantic sum of money, while Main Street and the taxpayers will get 'the bill' when it comes due. Even the charade has now dropped as Mr. Obama admitted it was a 'spending' bill and the spending was the stimulous.
I wonder how many American's keep charging enormous sums on their credit card with no thought of when the bill will come due or how it will be paid? Or maybe, Democrats are just not sharing THAT with us now because they don't want to turn the cash cow,,,err taxpayers against them.

Now we see that even Al Franken admits he owes $70,000 in back taxes and penalties....plus he dropped the workers comp insurance for his employees in NY. He'll fit right in with those in Congressl who will raise taxes on Main Street but feel they are exempt from having to follow the rules they lay down for everyone else.

It is hight time for Main Street to inundate the halls of Congress and the White House with TEA BAGS!!!

return, what return?
Austin here said that Republicans need to return to their “historic” philosophical underpinning. My question is, when was this? Sure there have been, and are exceptions among Republicans, but the fact is they are exceptions, and have never really been the norm. One time the GOP gets a guy like Reagan, and then from ever on they're Conservatives? Yeah, and Gingrich led a little rally, but really has the tenor of the GOP been Constitutional government? Hardly so. Let's stop fooling ourselves, the GOP is not the go-to party for Constitutional government. I doubt many of them really understand just how limiting the Constitution is supposed to be, otherwise we would see shock and outrage rather than negotiating for lesser versions of the Dems bills. Think third party, and state power.

my two cents
The reason that the excrement has hit the air circulator right out of the gate is simple - the dems know that they will NEVER have another chance like this to impose their beliefs on the rest of us. In another 12 months or so politikin' will start in preparation for the mid-terms 21 months from now and it says here that there will be a large change in the makeup of both houses. The dems know that so they are trying to get their agenda imposed asap.

bo's tactics - branding any resistance to his program as "inexcusable and irresponsible" - are predictable. They are still bs - Anyone with any smarts at all smarts saw this coming, and now the battle is joined.

whoops
Correction - the last paragraph should read "Anyone with any smarts at all saw this coming."

Sorry

Abolish Entitlements Now
SocSec, Medicare and Medicaid must be brought to a screeching, grinding halt.

My platinum-plated, cover-everything health plan needs to be de-coupled from my job too.

I do love having a ten-dollar copay for literally EVERYTHING, but seriously, it drives health costs through the roof just like free healthcare from the govmint does.

No employer-paid health insurance beyond catastrophic. Hefty tax-free HSAs for everything else including OTC medicines, band-aids and NutriSystem.

Allow earned income to be used for weight-loss under tax-free HSAs.

Make all doctor's office visits fee-for-service. Make all drugs payable by check from your HSA.

When we Americans pay out of our own pockets for our own dumb health decisions (personal responsibility), our collective health will improve. We're far more conscious of our wallets' health than our own.

Improving our collective health through preventive lifestyles can do a lot to hold health costs down. Making us actually pay for the services we receive will do even more.

The personal-responsibility side of the equation pushes us to go to the doc when we should. The fiscal-responsibility side pushes us to live so we don't need to go as often, and encourages judgment on when a doctor visit is unnecessary or even counterproductive.

Get costs to affordable levels by re-enshrining rational economics and personal responsibility as cornerstones of the system. At that point, you can help provide care at much lower cost to those who truly cannot affort it through private charitable means, and the libs lose another support of their endless power grab.

"I'll NEVER run for ANY public office...
...until I've had a certain question regarding politics and power answered to my satisfaction:
IS IT THE PERSON WHO CORRUPTS THE POWER OR IS IT THE POWER WHICH CORRUPTS THE PERSON?
I've asked this question of more than a hundred people, and none of them have given me a satisfactory answer thus far...
How about you?"

Bill, the power corrupts the person and then the person corrupts the power, a catch 22 kind-a thingy.

DAVID MA
AHHHHH----AH AH
DARN IT!

In general politics.
"When the pigs get the homeland and they seem to forgot where they came from.? When the pigs like to destroy their homeland and they will continue so." Pigs remember only when they get the food from you.

Sorry, I'm not a politic person but, I like to follow up sometime.

Thank you.

Dr Douglas What?
You are such a dommmy and stupid more on. If, you want to give your money to obama please feel free to do so. But, please don't blame on Republicans and thoses are working hard to keep the Country Safe! For our generations...

Look at yourself in the mirror twices or measure twices before you cut! stupid head.

Black President.
David you made the point! There's no one Country ever successfully that commadnd by this group. I do not remember much about my history class, seem its done. Not is because he's black president. He's more far left, and enjoy to destroy the good that ours great, great, great grandparents had created for us and our grand-childrents for the futre.
He enjoy to cristicism our past President GW Bush, even I don't like Bush much But, I have to gave him a credits because he kept us safe. Otherwire, I never see My grandmother again.
Now, for whoms ever votes for barak obama they must learn some lesson about him. He cannot led us at all. He should go back to be a senator in IL and learn more about Presidency in My opion. If he's really care for our Country at all. Thank you. And sorry that I am such a "Pin Head".

I have a solution for all of us.
Well, we can't allow obama turn our Country to trash! What we have to do in the followings:
1. For whom have their family in the military get them togethers and go to DC as a hugs teams.
2. For whom get hurts and higher taxes also do the same.
3. For whom want self-defenses all do the same.
4. For whom loves the USA all do the same.
Overall, barak obama and his wife never loves USA anyways. They are here to destroy our Country! WE need to go to DC and strikes them out just like Thailand people did!. What do you think?? Now, I am a pin head again.
Well, if for whom or response to my post please do understand I am just a citizen who love USA her homeland but, wasn't born here. and never run for office! but, do understood the politics corruptioned.

I hope obama don't send FBI to arrest me since I posting this out in public.
Thank you for read my post.

have a good day.
