"Booty Call" Will Stimulate Something Other Than The Economy

Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

You did hear about “Booty Call,” didn’t you?

I’ll have a “Booty Call Update,” in seconds. But first, let’s take a look at the disastrous, so-called “economic stimulus bill” making its way through Congress.

What’s not to love about it? Plenty. The bill has little to do with “stimulating the economy,” and lots to do with expanding the size and scope of public welfare programs. Two billion of our tax dollars devoted to Child Care Block Grants. $120 million for the hiring of part time workers at senior citizen’s community centers. $87 billion for Medicaid “family planning services” (contraception). $650 million to “assist” Americans in buying digital TV converter devices.

Forget tax cuts, or added deductions, that might encourage investors to risk their capital in new, job-creating business ventures. This is about your government employing more daycare workers, preventing pregnancy, and protecting you from the hardship and horror of having to pay for your own digital TV converter.

And then, of course, there’s the $335 million allotted for education on sexually transmitted diseases. And yes, part of this effort involves funding for an “educational program” entitled “Booty Call.” We can all imagine what gets stimulated with participation in a “Booty Call” program - - but it is certainly not the economy.

After passage in the House of Representatives (and with no Republican support at all), the bill is now being considered in the Senate, where it is already being met with opposition from the Democratic majority. One of the nay-sayers, Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill of Missouri said of the bill “whether it is the National Endowment of the Arts or some of the STD funding or contraceptive funding, all we did was just tee up ammunition for the other side to tear this thing down. And I would like to think we are smarter than that. I'm hopeful on the Senate side we will be smarter than that.”

Call me crazy, but it sounds like Senator McCaskill is tacitly admitting that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s idea of “economic stimulus” is not smart. I’ll take it a step further and declare it to be dumb.

But Speaker Pelosi was not the only high ranking government official to display a frightening level of economic illiteracy last week. None other than President Obama himself, in an extemporaneous, and not-so-eloquent moment in front of reporters, had another anti-business tirade last Thursday. Ostensibly, he was upset over reports of bonuses being paid to executives who head-up poorly performing companies. Some of these companies had even been recipients of government “bailout funds.”

The President said that the executives’ conduct was “shameful” and the “height of irresponsibility.” But are corporate CEO’s really to blame for this? If a corporation is paying a big bonus to an executive who shrinks the business, instead of growing it, that’s a huge mistake on behalf of the corporate board of directors, not the executive that the board employs. And the most irresponsible and “shameful” part of this is that our federal government “bails out,” and subsidizes, this kind of corporate dysfunction in the first place.

But worse yet, in this midst of his moral indignation, President Obama said of the executives “there will be time for them (corporate executives) to make profits, and there will be time for them to get bonuses -- now is not that time.” Is President Obama really so economically illiterate that he thinks that the words “profits” and “bonuses” are to be used interchangeably? Or, as is usually the case for socialists, does he actually believe that, indeed, executives should not be producing profits right now?

The Republican minority in Congress is facing a tremendous opportunity in all of this - - an opportunity to point out the obvious. Some Representative or Senator needs to get bold, and set the record straight: the “economic downturn,” the very “crisis” that Speaker Pelosi and President Obama purport to be saving us from, has unfolded precisely because corporations are not producing adequate profits. And things won’t improve until businesses begin to produce greater profits once again.

But wait, there’s more! Congressional Republicans now have an opportunity to atone for their own reckless ways earlier this decade, and return to a truly conservative vision of the appropriate role of government in the lives of the American people.

Opposing federally-funded “STD education” and contraception programs is appropriate. But it is inappropriate to push for federally funded “abstinence only education” and “marriage enrichment” programs at the same time. The Bush-era, “big government is okay as long as it advances my interests” approach has to be abandoned - - NOW - - and the sooner Congressional Republicans assume this stance, the sooner the party will begin to regain its momentum.

Government-funded “Booty Call” is bad. Corporate profits are good. And marriage, and sex education, are far too important to entrust to government bureaucracies.

March 15th Movie - "Obama Deception"

Get On the Phone And Call Your Senators
Someone once said, "Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country."

The time is NOW. Call and e-mail all your senators and put a grinding halt to the madness. Cut taxes (capital gains taxes and corporate taxes) and the economy will boom again. It's been proven over and over in American history that cutting these taxes stimulates and invigorates our economy.

Looks like Obama and his cronies are doing everything in their power to destroy America and rebuild something else. Are we willing to sacrifice our standard of living to be equally fair and equally miserable? The time to act is NOW.

Missing the Point
Out of a 800+ trillion bill find petty little things to object to. This is called straining out a gnat but swallowing a camel.

The fact is that the entire stimulus bill is bogus. Will it stimulate? Yes. It will stimulate. But it won't fix the fundamental issues in the economy that caused the current depression, and it won't fix the fundamental problems in our economy that are going to impede long-term economic growth. It's just a very expensive buzz.

Why do we need more daycare workers
if we are paying people to kill their babies or never have them at all?

And does King O not realize that 40% of the babies he is paying people to kill are BLACK BABIES?

This collapse is coming faster than any of us hoped it would -- and it ought to be fun. A teachers pet with a thin skin is such a tempting target that even Doonsbury wont be able to resist. And then you will see tantrums and screaming and we will all have fun getting ready for the two-year elections.

ANGRY AFLAC DUCK CONFRONTS PALIN
Governors Sarah Palin, Charlie Crist, and Jim Douglas are among those urging lawmakers to support the Obama's stimulus bill. Read it at, http://stopthepresses2.blogspot.com/search/label/Aflac%20D uck

Governments(local,state,and national...)
...are incapable of creating wealth.Only private entities can produce wealth.Governments can only CONSUME wealth.

And BTW Brickhouse that quote is "...come to the aid of their party".A big difference.

I support the President Barack Obama

I just don't support his MISSION.

I don't support his Marxist approach to Government.

I don't support his Agenda.

I don't support his Cabinet choices of tax cheaters and other nefarious types.

I don't support his 'Spread the Wealth' nonsense.

I don't support his view on Homosexuality.

I don't support his leadership in conducting 'Black Genocide'.

I don't support his maniacal support of 'Partial Birth Abortion'.

I don't support his 'Black Separatism' philosophy.

I don't support his giving money to ACORN to continue and enhance 'Voter Fraud'.

I don't support his oppression of 'Free Speech'.

I don't support his expansion of 'Hate Crime' which is nonsensical at best and tyranny at worst.

I don't support his attack on the US Constitution and Bill of Rights.

I don't support his attack on American traditions.

I don't support his coddling of Terrorists.

I don't support his stimulus bill, which is nothing more than redistribution of wealth.

I don't support his doctrine of 'Punishing Success and Rewarding Failure'.

I don't support him having his office 'Hot Enough to Grow Orchids' while asking others to lower the temperatures in their homes.

I don't support his Energy policy of bankrupting coal, which produces 50% of electricity in America.

Most of all, I don't support his torture of little babies who had the 'Audacity' to survive an abortion.

I support our President, I just do not support his mission.

Booty Call just their Screw You!!!
It has become painfully apparent that this "change" we are getting is nothing more than a abject power grab reminecent for those of third world tin horn dictators. The use of the military in the future to secure their hold on power will probably not be out of the question either. Has the American populace become so un- intellegent as to buy into the obvious "democratic" takeover we are witnessing? Must be, for I fear the Republic of the United States has been made null and void. How can any one with half a brian watch this happening and consider that our best intrests and future security are being protected. No, I know they are only protecting THEIR OWN INTRESTS AND POSITION OF POWER. Uprisings and revolutions are made of such, or have Jefferson's words come back to haunt us: "and they will wake up slaves in the country their fathers secured for their freedom". Maybe that is what they want, to finally and defineitivly consolidate the tyranny and slave state they have taken years to put together through lies; by using military force to control the populace. God help us all.

FAIR TAX NOW!!!
Brickhouse
You got the right idea, my friend - a key element in the demise of the U.S. Economy IS taxation, but "cutting" taxes here and "cutting" taxes there ain't gonna "cut it!" (No pun intended.)

Congresses have been diddling and dawdling with the tax code for DECADES . . . sneaking in taxes here - giving tax credits there, etc. The last time the Internal Revenue Code was changed to establish three FLAT tax rates (for you Flat Taxers out there) was in 1986 (Reagan Years). Guess what? It has been AMENDED over 8,000 THOUSAND times since then! So much for making a puny "cut." The law of the land needs to be CHANGED! (For any Obama Change freaks out there.)

The Fair Tax Act of 2009 (H.R. 25) would ELIMINATE corporate taxes, and individual income and payroll taxes, and capital gains, estate, alternative minimum taxes, etc. It would DE-FUND the IRS (guess what would happen to them?) and REPEAL the Internal Revenue Code.

America, under the Fair Tax, would shift from taxing productivity (profits, earnings, savings, investments, etc.) to taxing CONSUMPTION!!! What a novel idea!

Just GUESS what THAT would do to "stimulate" the U.S. Economy??? . . . and would like the idea of never, EVER again having to file an income tax return??? Huh???

Familiarize yourself with the Plan - and contact your Representative.

Fair Tax Now!!!!

Advice to America from 63 BC

"To avoid bankruptcy, Rome's budget must be balanced; debt reduced; arrogance of authorities moderated; payments to foreign governments reduced; people must learn to work, instead of living on public dole." Cicero. 63BC

Application of Cicero's statement to Rome, to America almost 2100 years later.

1) Require the American Government to balance its budget.

2) Require the American Government to reduce its debt.

3) Require the American politicians to serve the citizen, instead of the citizen serving the politicians.

4) Require the American Government to stop payments to foreign governments, especially those foreign governments that want America destroyed.

5) Require the American Government to stop paying citizens to not work or pay taxes.

Simple but excellent advice.

Bonus banter is bogus
Barack Obama wants to hand out $819 billion to his cronies and cohorts in the name of economic stimulus and he has the “audacity” to be bugged by bonuses?

walter william, real economist
dr. williams pointed out a colleague has stated that we have a $14 trillion economy. Of that figure the govt spends $4.5 trillion that it takes through a flawed tax collection system

Now the dims want to spend and additional $1 trillion which means the people must decrease their budget's by $1 trillion to compenstate for this increase or pay even larger an amount years down the road in increased taxes to pay for this increased spending.

But the dims and their clueless leader cannot explain why the public must continue to make sacrifices to pay for more failed govt programs and wasteful spending.

Why isn't this clueless president talking of cutting spending programs that are no longer necessary. Surely in a $4.5 trillion budget there are vast areas to find savings. This notion that all govt agencies and their spending is vital to the country doesn't pass the smell test.

And still the dims only talk of spending an additional $1 trillion on top of the $870 billion they have spent since last fall on the tarp and pork spending that so far has done nothing to reinvigorate the economy

Mr. Hill
Excellent column!

Smart
Does anyone actually think that Pelosi is smart? That's scary.

Obama's objection to bankers taking our money personally came after they had used it to finance his inauguration. Now their feelings are hurt and they're crying all the way to the bank. Naughty, naughty, he says.

There's a way to pour trillions into the economy without printing, borrowing, and spending a dime, but it involves giving us our money back, which is too foreign of an idea for them to consider.

http://ewebsmith.com/finance/betterstimulus.html

Economic stimulus
Part time jobs, creating more welfare recepients,by causing full time employees to lose their jobs. This is loonecy, and money to the abortion pit, in the name of STD's, genocide and infantcide. Over $442 millions to promote sexual deviancy, and then there is the $650 million television converter box hoax. There is no right to television, only the need of congress to be seen and not just heard. Waste in the name of stimulus, is still costly to all Americans.

Bill: Our Leaders Would Never Pass It
I agree with you that the Fair Tax would energize the economy and get us booming again, but I know our leaders would NEVER approve it. The Fair Tax doesn't leave them any money for their silly programs and pay-back for their cronies.

The only way we could get a movement for the Fair Tax going would be to use it as a campaign platform, but the entire party would have to be willing to promise to accomplish it if they are elected; all of them have to be on board. Sort of like Reagan's contract with America. That would give us a mandate to change the tax code so drastically.

Retired Geek's Support for The President
Retired Geek, as always you said a mouthful. I too support President Barack Obama, but I want him to do what is in America's best interest. His cabinet selections have thus far been a great disappointment; somehow, I was expecting a few new faces, brilliant average Americans selected. To see the Clintonistas back is hardly change, no matter how they spin it.

I don't support relinquishing our freedoms and indebting my family for generations and generations to come. How can they dare call it stimulus? They insult us by assuming the American people are stupid. Americans gave Obama the "benefit of the doubt" and voted for him, expecting him to at least TRY to do what is in America's best interest. So far, it looks like we are in America's de-construction stage, and they are asking us for money to build their socialistic utopia of equal misery.

Historical Precedents
There are plenty of historical precedents for what happens when governments take over total control of an economy. It's never been good.

It's also in the nature of government, or at least of the bureaucrats within government, to constantly try to increase the size of that government. For the good of the people, of course.

Right now, it looks like we're in the process of selling our economic and personal freedoms for the promise, and just the promise, that we'll have continued comfort and security if we just trust the bureaucrats in the government.

A bureaucrat, by definition, isn't interested in any solution that would lessen his own control. It's up to an educated and involved to exercise that control.

The Perfect Economic Stimulus Plan

Hey, I' got a Stimulus plan for ya'

Maybe if all the tax-dodging Democrat politicians in Congress and the Obama administration just came forward and paid all the taxes they owe to the American people and the U.S. Treasury, we wouldn't need to allocate any additional money at all.

Their tax-cheat money, if it's ever collected, would probably cover the entire cost of Obama's "economic stimulus" plan.

...with enough "Change" left over for them all to catch the next thing smokin' out of town.

Unions Get Half
According to Ben Stein, unions get half of the "Stimulus."

http://www.newsmax.com/insidecover/ben_stein_stimulus/2009/ 02/01/177324.html

Well, now..the cat's out of the bag

I think this entire article needs to be posted:

Ben Stein: Half of Stimulus Goes to Unions

http://www.newsmax.com/insidecover/ben_stein_stimulus/2009/ 02/01/177324.html

Sunday, February 1, 2009 1:01 PM

Columnist Ben Stein has taken a close look at President Barack Obama's proposed $820 billion stimulus package, and made some eye-opening discoveries.

Writing for Spectator.com and NYPost.com, Stein calculates that:

The House of Representatives debated the bill for eight hours, or roughly $102 billion per hour.

Only 10 percent of the stimulus funds would be spent in 2009.

Almost half of the $820 billion would end up in the pockets of Democratic-controlled unions, such as the Service Employees International Union, and federal, state, and municipal employee unions.

At 680 pages long, neither Obama nor any member of the House had enough time to read the entire bill before the House voted.

The $820 billion would be enough to give every unemployed American $75,000.

Says Stein: "There has been pork-barrel politics since there has been politics, but the scale of this pork is beyond what had ever been imagined before -- and no one can be sure it will actually do much stimulation. ... This has been a punch in the solar plexus to the kind of responsible, far-seeing, mature government processes that are needed to protect America."

Somebody please tell me...

...What have these Obamamaniacs and weak-minded liberal Pinkos & Commies unleashed in America, that they would support the corrupt Socialist Obama and the M*****Fers we now have him appointing and anointing to run our government into a Socialist Worker Party hellhole?

God help us.

the problem is the weak middle class
The stimulus should be focused on saving jobs, creating jobs, and making working class jobs pay better.

That will not happen by giving wealthy investors tax breaks on their capital gains.

THink about it: if you could make a million dollars in the stock market. Would you not invest just because you have to pay 15% on the profits? Only a fool would reason that it isn't worth investing.

The problem is that the working class is tapped out and they're losing jobs left and right. As a result, they aren't buying goods and services from companies so companies aren't making profits. They are also hoarding money because they don;t have confidence in the economy.

Building infrastructure will put people back to work, which will give them money to spend, which will increase corporate profits, which will bring the investors back, which will increase consumer confidence.

In short, we need trickle up policies.

But you won't see that from Republicans because their objective is to make the rich richer and the poor poorer. At least, that's what their policy proposals would suggest.

The ONLY decent idea I've heard from Republicans is to lower mortgage rates to 4.5% so everyone could refinance their homes.

Other than that, all you get are people like Austin Hill taking rhetorically sensational pot shots at tiny aspects of the stimulus bill.

Phylo out.

Phylo Se Fiser...do some homework please
Its a documented fact that reducing the capital gains tax increases tax revenue for the government....so please tell us how can this happen unless there are more businesses? Do some homework before you start talking smack on these forums....simple google search or take a course in economics.

Phylo Se Fiser ... do some homework
You cant have trickle up ecomomics. Middle class doesnt exist unless people are willing to take the risk of starting businesses. JObs dont exist unless those businesses are profitable.

Its a documented fact that reducing the capital gains tax increases tax revenue for the government....so please tell us how can this happen unless there are more businesses? Do some homework before you start talking smack on these forums....simple google search or take a course in economics.

Even BHO admitted this and in same breath communicated to the world that he wanted to "spread the wealth".

http://mediamatters.org/items/200804180012

J
J writes: its a documented fact that reducing the capital gains tax increases tax revenue for the government.

Phylo: Where exactly has this "fact" been documented? When you fail to find such proof, come back and have the integrity to admit you were wrong.

Seriously, do you honestly imagine that lowering the capital gains rate will make people buy stock? What moron is stashing his cash in his mattress until the capital gains tax rate goes down. What moron is looking at a promising investment opportunity and holding off because they will have to pay 15% on their profits? Anyone that stupid, wouldn't have any money to invest anyway.

J
What creates jobs is demand. If there is no demand, there is no reason for a business to exist.

I own a business. Right now it's struggling precisely because there is no demand for my company's services. Were there demand, I would be able to hire more people, and I wouldn't need a dime's worth of capital to do it.

Maybe you ought to do some reading about economics. And don't read Thomas Sowell. He's a simple minded fool. Or at least mix in some Krugman.

Also, look up something called the neo-laffer curve. It will help explain why there is no documented evidence that tax cuts raise revenues to the government.

Phylo Se Fiser
Tax cuts work. It worked for JFK. It worked for Regan and it worked for Bush. Tax revenues increased dramatically in every case. How much "documentation" do you need??
Why don't we tryt it again??

Don P
You guys have all been taken in by a myth. The fact is, revenues to the government have increased steadily under every single president. Revenues to the government grew under Clinton. But I'm not stupid enough to argue that raising taxes always raises revenues to the government.

What we're talking about here is the Laffer curve. The theory says that if you start at zero taxes and raise taxes, revenues will steadily rise. But there is a point where increasing taxes reaches a point of diminishing returns because people won;t feel it's worth it to keep earning money.

There is also something called the nep-laffer curve, which shows that up around the top of the curve, it becomes difficult, if not impossible to know what raising or lowering taxes will do to revenues.

Stop listening to Limbaugh. He is making you stupid. he is not giving it to you straight.

woops
that's the neo-laffer curve, not the nep-laffer curve.

Excellent point!
"Is President Obama really so economically illiterate that he thinks that the words “profits” and “bonuses” are to be used interchangeably? Or, as is usually the case for socialists, does he actually believe that, indeed, executives should not be producing profits right now?"

My guess is yes he is economically illiterate. Aren't most liberals?

Brickhouse... 2:10AM
the actual quote is "now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their PARTY." And, it was a typing drill.

That said, I have given up on any party for now. The Democrats are a waste of time (and money) and the Republicans are acting like Democrats.

PHYLO SE FYSER. Thomas Sowell is head and shoulders more intelligent then you are as proven by you pseudo-intellectual posts.

Reply to emf
Not only are liberals economically illiterate, they are, in fact, Mentally Deranged, and Obama is the worst of the lot. He is an out and out narcissist who has delusions of grandeur. This is a mental defect of the highest order, and this makes him a very dangerous man. At least, as President, he will have about 200 armed Secret Service personnel watching his every move, and hopefully will prevent him from doing anything truly bizarre when his ego gets attacked. A narcissist cannot stand opposition, and that is why he hates Rush Limbaugh and others who do not fawn over him.

Reply to Phylo whatever
In no circumstances can a government operate without deficits if they spend more than they take in as revenue. And, under no circumstances, can a population with a limited numbers of workers continue to fund a wasteful and fraudulent government that buys votes by making it more attractive to be on welfare than by working, and in order to do this, they keep expanding the government with more welfare programs with even higher payouts to the recipients, who, for the most part are nothing more than deadbeats. This is what Obama and the mentally ill and corrupt liberal congress is trying to do, and this is what the liberal democrats have been doing since the days of LBJ and his so called Great Society Programs that have already expened over 8 trillion dollars on worthless programs that have destroyed the work ethic in several generations as well as destroyed the traditional American family that used to get a job, get married, have children and live happily ever after. And, this so called War on Poverty program has expanded the numbers of people in poverty, which was the intent to begin with. The socialists have long known that if you destroy morals and turn people into peasants living off the dole, they are easy to control, manipulate, and dominate and as an added bonus, they will vote for you because you promise them even more for nothing. The current Liberals have mastered this technique. Chairman Mao, Lenin and Stalin would be proud of Obama and the Liberal Democrats of the USA.

Greyhawk
What you said is pure nonsense. It's total paranoia. No one on the left, except maybe a few lunatics on the way out fringe, believes anything close to what you said.

The goal is not, as all the right wing shocks say, to get people to be dependent on government. The goal is to smooth out some of the hard edges and inequalities in a capitalist system. The goal is not to run the whole economy and tell everyone what to produce and when. No one on the reasonable left wants anything like that. Don't you have some friends or relatives that you can talk to about this? Or are you living in bubble that only receives right wing radio?

And I know the shock jocks like to call it welfare. But it's nonsense because the tax cuts only go to people who worked and made enough of an income to qualify. If you don't work, you don't get a tax cut. That's not welfare.

The goal is to strengthen the middles-class. You might think they're wrong in the way they go about it. You might think that supply side is the way to go, but to assign these sinister motives to them borders on insanity on your part because there is simply no evidence of this.

Personally, I think supply-siders have lost this argument. If you give capital to some company right now, they can't turn it into extra profits because there is a shortage of demand.

The problem in this country is that the wealth has all been flowing to the wealthiest people, and the middle class is tapped out of resources. The economy won't begin to turn around until that situation changes.
