Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

On Harry Reid's planet, America's enemies need only have one objective: to murder, in a sensational, media-magnifying manner, enough of their own citizens to discomfit and distress Harry Reid Democrats.

I distinguish Harry Reid Democrats from Harry Truman Democrats. Between these two Harrys spreads a vast moral chasm that 60 years of history do not fully explain.

"Give 'em Hell" Truman possessed a large quotient of common sense, as well as the courage of his convictions.

Assess Reid for yourself. Last week, the Senate majority leader said, "Now I believe myself ... that this war is lost, and that the surge is not accomplishing anything, as indicated by the extreme violence in Iraq yesterday."

But within minutes after declaring Iraq lost, Reid returned to the mikes to backtrack. "The (Iraq) war can only be won diplomatically, politically and economically, and the president needs to come to that realization," Reid said,

It's lost, but can only be won, if if what? If "Give 'em Hooey" Harry Reid is in charge?

How refreshing if Reid had the courage of his defeatist convictions, except his convictions aren't convictions, they are postures. Reid tosses a line to Democrat defeatists, then when he discovers his mistake, edges toward reality with an oily pirouette.

There are (and have been) four lines of operation in Iraq: security (military operations and building Iraqi defense capabilities), governmental (political participation and structure building), information (intel, media and political perception) and economic (economic development and infrastructure creation).

Our media tend to favor sensationalism, not contextualism. (If contextualism wasn't a word, it is now.) Reid's attempted political slither relies on "tyranny of the immediate" reporting and headline preference for violence. He's pretending his belated qualifications say something new. They don't. Mayhem and military macho are hot, fast stories. Economic development and infrastructure are incremental and slow.

Ironically, Reid's rhetorical retreat unintentionally acknowledges the hard slog of economic development and political stabilization. However, the man and those for whom he speaks lack the key traits required to achieve those goals: determined will and gutty perseverance. Continued...

Send a message!!! Support our troops!!
Support our troops. PERIOD!

The military men and women of the United States are being slapped in the face. A portion of the population of this great nation, (the press, and anti war demonstrators, Mr Reid, and Nancy P), like to bad mouth our Commander in Chief and speak out against the war publicly. Some call for an immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq, and complain about how much this war is costing. Do these folks understand that we currently have a volunteer military and that our troops believe in the mission? Does the press or the anti war movement NOT remember what happened on September 11th? Do any of these folks recall the immediate unity that took place within hours or even minutes of this great American tragedy? I am proud to be an American, and can remember vividly September 11. I recall the outpour of support and heroism that took place at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and that lonely field in Pennsylvania. Do the press and demonstrators actually possess the ability to “forget” about the tragedy and loss we suffered on that day? Do they not feel personally violated and disgusted by these attacks? I am all for freedom of speech and our other American freedoms, but when some choose to publicly demonstrate that they are against the war, but say they support the troops, they are slapping our brave men and women in uniform in the face. You can not be on both sides of this fence!! These folks are sending a message of non-support with their actions. Some “Americans” are actually burning flags and effigies of our troops; YOU’VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!! I say box these folks up and ship them out immediately if not sooner!! As a former Marine I can tell you that when I hear and see the press constantly run stories about “the bad stuff”, it irritates me tremendously. I know for every bad story that makes it to print, that ten stories of hope are out there, but we do not see or hear of those on a daily basis. Why? The press and anti war demonstrators are fixated only on the negatives of what is happening in Iraq (war is not glitter and caviar folks), so they hide behind their American rights in order to sell papers, get television ratings, and push personal agendas. I do not “want” to lose any of our brave men and women, but I can find comfort in knowing that each one that has perished has done so willingly to protect our freedom and liberties. Our Commander in Chief has our military protecting each of us and is attempting to keep the battlefields off of our homeland. You may not personally agree with each move that the administration is making and that is your right. But remember this: Your country needs you, and your troops need your undivided support. You have the luxury of living in the greatest country on the planet. You live in a country which affords you rights not allowed in most of the rest of the world. You have and will continue to maintain those rights because of the heroic men and women of our military. Be a friend and support our troops!! PERIOD!! If you choose not to support our troops, maybe you could move to China, North Korea, or Iran and see what your public opinions or news articles will get you. If you need help relocating, I would be most honored to help you pack your bags and send you on your way!! For those of you who have served, support or are serving in the U.S. military,
God bless and THANK YOU for our freedom.

David L Gaydon (former Sergeant U.S.M.C)

Shame
Is what a normal person would feel if he'd uttered such contemptible words, but Harry Reid doesn't. The reason he doesn't is that the concept of honor is alien to this senator. If Reid had even a fraction of the quality the least of our men and women in uniform have, he'd have resigned today.
