What is morality? Politicians toss phrases such as: my morality, your morality; I cannot force my morality of a pluralistic society. Using new definitions for accepted meanings of established words, politicians have changed adultery into freedom of expression; sex is now fooling around, promiscuity is recreational, homosexuality is a lifestyle and abortion is a choice. Morality is doing what pleases you. Which definition you choose is a demonstration of self-centered egotism, which is part of a modern culture that glorifies the self over everything, even if it is harmful. Like redefining government, morality has been more than redefined, it has been downgraded to personal opinion. What is the meaning of morality? Classic scholarship accepts morality to be a firm standard for thought, words and deeds monitored by an educated conscience. The education is based upon a differentiation between right and wrong; good and evil. Thus, the educated conscious, in conjunction with the intellect and free will, arrives at a decision to think, speak and act in a selected manner that is deemed moral. Like the arrow on a compass, which always points north, proper morality is similarly directional, as it points to goodness. Hence it is, that morality can never be used by any modified definition to serve as a basis for false ideas, unethical commercialism, political correctness or deviant lifestyle. Morality is the same for all races in the human family. Cultural backgrounds and inherited traditions may differ, but obedience to the moral law is a universal obligation. Duties do not change with skin color - that is superficial anatomy. Dermatology is unimportant for being morally good. It is character that counts. The essence of being a human being is moral code, which emanates from spiritual grace and which guides correctly. With proper morality there is an accompanying peace of mind, peace of soul and physical well-being. All of which build character that withstands the whirlwind of immorality, teaches moderation in all things and grants the blessings of goodness. Remember that character is what a person "is" and reputation is what people think a person "is." The verb "is" has been misused by politicians to escape responsibility and to avoid culpability. In courts of law, perjury is the most common felony committed. No longer looked upon as a crime by people in high places, they comment that it depends upon what perjury "is." Disregarding the definition in every dictionary, revision is made to the meaning of "is," which declares what is desired without respect to its original usage. Simple research reveals that the present tense of the verb "to be" satisfies the existence of "is" as singular. As an intransitive verb, it demands no object. Considered to be an equalizing verb, a restricted literary usage is part of its uniqueness. What is, is and nothing can alter, it to suit the accommodation of immorality. The power to retain the spirit of traditional morality resides in the belief in God's love. Without God in their lives, human beings are spiritless nomads without full knowledge of the purpose of their existence. Goodness is derived from God who is the perfect example of this virtue. The opposite of goodness is evil, which does not suffer mortal death. But it dies when right reason selects goodness over it. Hence, inevitably, goodness will triumph over evil. Because followers of evil are having a temporary romance with a mummy. Whereas morality's divine derivation discloses that the wisest person on earth is a fool compared to the wisdom of God.
