Do you feel the leaked information from a global warming alarmist organization is meaningful?

Apparently, my position on immigration is that we must deport all 12 million illegal aliens immediately, inasmuch as this is billed as the only alternative to immediate amnesty. The jejune fact that we "can't deport them all" is supposed to lead ineluctably to the conclusion that we must grant amnesty to illegal aliens -- and fast!

I'm astounded that debate has sunk so low that I need to type the following words, but: No law is ever enforced 100 percent.

We can't catch all rapists, so why not grant amnesty to rapists? Surely no one wants thousands of rapists living in the shadows! How about discrimination laws? Insider trading laws? Do you expect Bush to round up everyone who goes over the speed limit? Of course we can't do that. We can't even catch all murderers. What we need is "comprehensive murder reform." It's not "amnesty" -- we'll ask them to pay a small fine.

If it's "impossible" to deport illegal aliens, how did we come to have so much specific information about them? I keep hearing they are Catholic, pro-life, hardworking, just dying to become American citizens, and will take jobs other Americans won't. Someone must have talked to them to gather all this information. Let's find that guy -- he must know where they are!

How do we even know there are 12 million of them? Why not 3 million, or 40 million? Maybe we should put the guy who counted them in charge of deporting them.

If the 12-million figure is an extrapolation based on the number of illegal immigrants in public schools or emergency rooms and well-manicured lawns in Brentwood, then shouldn't we be looking for them at schools and hospitals and well-manicured lawns in Brentwood?

I believe that the shortage of unskilled, non-English-speaking Mexicans we experienced in the '60s has been remedied by now.

Since Teddy Kennedy's 1965 Immigration Act, more than half of all legal immigrants have been unskilled, non-English-speaking Mexicans. America takes in roughly 1 million legal immigrants each year. Only about 30,000 of them have Ph.D.s. Why on earth would any rational immigration policy discriminate against immigrants with Ph.D.s in favor of unskilled, non-English-speaking immigrants?

Say, don't Ph.D.s and other skilled workers have more influence on government policy than unskilled workers? Aren't they more likely to bend a president's ear? Yes, I believe they are! Noticeably, the biggest proponents of the government's policy of importing a huge underclass of unskilled workers are not themselves unskilled workers.

The great bounty of cheap labor by unskilled immigrants isn't going to hardworking Americans who hang drywall or clean hotel rooms -- and who are having trouble getting jobs, now that they're forced to compete with the vast influx of unskilled workers who don't pay taxes.

The people who make arguments about "jobs Americans won't do" are never in a line of work where unskilled immigrants can compete with them. Liberals love to strike generous, humanitarian poses with other people's lives.

Something tells me the immigration debate would be different if we were importing millions of politicians or Hollywood agents. You lose your job, while I keep my job at the Endeavor agency, my Senate seat, my professorship, my editorial position or my presidency. (And I get a maid!)

The only beneficiaries of these famed hardworking immigrants -- unlike you lazy Americans -- are the wealthy, who want the cheap labor while making the rest of us chip in for the immigrants' schooling, food and health care.

These great lovers of the downtrodden -- the downtrodden trimming their hedges -- pretend to believe that their gardeners' children will be graduating from Harvard and curing cancer someday, but (1) they don't believe that; and (2) if it happened, they'd lose their gardeners.

Not to worry, Marie Antoinettes! According to "Alien Nation" author Peter Brimelow, "There is recent evidence that, even after four generations, fewer than 10 percent of Mexicans have post-high school degrees, as opposed to nearly half of non-Mexican-Americans." So you'll always have the maid. As New York mayor Michael Bloomberg said, our golf fairways would suffer without illegal immigrants: "You and I both play golf; who takes care of the greens and the fairways on your golf course?"

We fought a civil war to force Democrats to give up on slavery 150 years ago. They've become so desperate for servants that now they're importing an underclass to wash their clothes and pick their vegetables. This vast class of unskilled immigrants is the left's new form of slavery.

What do they care if their servants are made citizens eligible to vote and collect government benefits? Aren't the fabulously rich happy in Venezuela? Oops, wrong example. Brazil? No, no, let me try again. Mexico! ... Well, no matter. What could go wrong?

Mitt Romney
Mitt Romney says he supports English as our country's language and yet he has a Spanish version website. Doesn't that concern you about someone who wants to be President? Maybe you should bring this up on your favorite talk radio show. Ask the host if they would consider getting a Spanish version website, like Mitt Romney. Or maybe Mr. Romney will come on that show to talk about all the great benefits of having a Spanish version website. What do you think? I'd really like to know what Mr. Romney has to say since he never did answer Wolf Blitzer's question in the last debate!

I agree with Juandos
"I want the US to stop exploiting the rest of the world so that other places can have the chance to become as desireable and safe as the US advertises itself as being"...

Juandos, like you I agree that this is a flawed economic analysis.

Surely now, in the 21st Century it is time to throw away, and I mean throw away, Marxist economic analysis, which has distorted any efforts by the pragmatic left to address social justice issues.

If you judge the theories by results, then history has proved that these theories are wrong.

For example, the "labour theory of value" distorts the market, placing value judgements in the hands of the producer rather than the consumer. And hey, if it takes twice as long to make does that mean it's twice as useful? Of course not!!! All it means is that the company that is producing the goods is twice as inefficient.

The "extraction of surplus value" theory demonises all investment, and the logical conclusion to such an analysis is the "dictatorship of the proletariat" where all industry is owned by the state. But if all industry is owned by the state, then at a stroke you throw out competition, and hence any incentive to increase efficiency or respond to messages from the market.

"From each according to his ability; to each according to his need" This may have a superficial moral appeal, but in practice the unintended consequences of this are that you destroy the market, and hence destroy the price mechanism. The price mechanism is a far more efficient means of matching supply and demand than any amount of state control - hence the queues for bread in the Soviet Union.

"You're kidding - right?
People still listen to Anne Coulter?"

Hell yes!

I listen to Ann Coulter, because however stringently uncompromising she is, I prefer her punditry to the nauseatingly liberal stuff that the BBC churns out.

Oh, and by the way - I am forced by law to pay for the BBC. At least with Ann Coulter, you don't have to listen.

That's the difference between conservative and liberal broadcasting.

"Liberal" broadcasting in my country is paid for through coercion as it is a CRIMINAL offence for me not to pay my TV Licence which is punishable by a fine of up to £1000 pounds.
http://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/information/detectionandpenalties.jsp

Conservative broadcasting is take it or leave it.
No-one forces you to pay for Ann Coulter's punditry!!! That's because it is a FREE MARKET.

You see - that's the trouble with American liberals - you have no idea what liberal socialism actually leads to ....

By the way, in the future a tracker will be attached to my car so that the government can monitor where I am driving and charge me by the mile:

"Your papers pleeze ... give me your papers ...."

You're kidding - right?
People still listen to Anne Coulter?

that americans won't do...
Excessive immigration distorts everything... look if it takes twenty or thirty bucks an hour for americans to do agricultural field work, then so be it. If strawberries have to cost 10 dollars a basket, then so be it. Other wages will rise to accomodate. White collar work will become less well-rewarded relative to blue. Let's pay people what it truly costs for all the hard and dirty work that is still necessary in our industrial and post-industrial economy. That's honest. And our whole system will rationalise. It needs it. Jobs Americans won't do? Bu11. We waste too much food in this country anyway. We have lost our connection and respect for it. And we have too many lazy, useless native teenagers...who should start working for their suppers, and their vast inheritance.

Immigration
True valiant, courageous Americans need to revolt. We need a revolution. Nothing lesss than a revolution will work. We need to save America, from the bigots in Mexico. Anyone for a revolution?

Immigration
I am a naturalized citizen, born in South America. I know their bigotry firsthand. Bush will sign Bill and America is done, forever, unless we revolt. WE NEED A REVOLUTION.

The President says. . .
If you oppose his plan you don't want what is good for America.

There you go.

Republican President smearing the dissenters. Can he get anymore "Democratic?"

Yeah George (Bush); Ted Kennedy knows what is good for America and we don't.

Why I’m Leaving The L.A. Times

When I ran for office I heard the same complaint from reporter at the AJC and other major media outlets. They also made it clear that the paper and media outlets are killing stories about how illegal immigrants and overseas outsourcing was killing wages for workers.

I was told on many occasions that the fastest growing departments were focused on the growing illegal community. The news media was about making money first and news second.

Do you think corporations have taking over the major media outlets? Is the internet our best hope to get out alternative views on issues that are not bought and paid for?

Why I’m Leaving The L.A. Times

By- Nancy Cleeland

HP-After 10 years, hundreds of bylines and some of the best experiences of my professional life, I’m leaving the Los Angeles Times at the end of this month, along with 56 newsroom colleagues. We each have our reasons for taking the latest buyout offer from Chicago-based Tribune Company. In my case, the decision grew out of frustration with the paper’s coverage of working people and organized labor, and a sad realization that the situation won’t change anytime soon.

It’s awkward to criticize an old friend, which I still consider the Times to be, but I think the question of how mainstream journalists deal with the working class is important and deserves debate. There may be no better setting in which to examine the issue: The Los Angeles region is defined by gaping income disparities and an enormous pool of low-wage immigrant workers, many of whom are pulled north by lousy, unstable jobs. It’s also home to one of the most active and creative labor federations in the country. But you wouldn’t know any of that from reading a typical issue of the L.A. Times, in print or online. Increasingly anti-union in its editorial policy, and celebrity — and crime-focused in its news coverage, it ignores the economic discontent that is clearly reflected in ethnic publications such as La Opinion.

truthteller and missing the point
truthteller,
you called Anne a "phony" for blaming dems, in general, and in a context around immigration and as a response to the recent immigration bill. You are the phony for pretending to be clueless that her whole premise of entertainment, ie. humour, of and in this article is in analogising the dems support of slavery in the 1800's with their current overwhleming support of illegal alien amnesty issues nowadays. Therefore you are a phony, not a truthteller.

so let me get this straight
so now even the Wall Street Journal is trying to make Bush look bad?

I guess its like no one pays any attention to the usual anti-bush outlets anymore.

Its really uncanny, never before has a president in U.S. history been attacked by the press from every angle.

This of course tells me he must doing something right.

I'm not really interested in the wsj article, but I imagine if they broke it down by ethnic group, results would vary widely, but I'm thinking the pupose of the study is to provoke caucasian men in their thirties to dislike Bush, but I could be wrong, maybe its just an objective look at the facts.

Race to the Bottom

Men in their 30s lag behind fathers in pay

Our trade and immigration policy is selling out future generations in America. Do you think Americans are waking up to this race to the bottom economic policy that is driven by cheap wages that help Multi-national Corporation at the expense of the middle class?

By The Wall Street Journal

American men in their 30s today are worse off than their fathers’ generation, a reversal from just a decade ago, when sons generally were better off than their fathers, a new study says.

The study, the first in a series on economic mobility undertaken by several prominent think tanks, also says the typical American family’s income has lagged far behind productivity growth since 2000, a departure from most of the post-World War II period.

The findings suggest “the up escalator that has historically ensured that each generation would do better than the last may not be working very well,” says the study, which is scheduled for release today.

TheEruditeEarlobe: it's overpopulation
You point out the see-saw battle between the UAW and Detroit auto industry executives and stockholders but draw conclusions I'd like to call into question. For one, when you state that the UAW forces "outrageous" benefits down the throats of the executive class you seem to be unaware of two major facts. First, the profit made from the investment made in the enormous GM pension fund exceeded all profits made from manufacturing cars, in fact dwarfing it, as manufacturing profits are actually nonexistent, in the negative for several consecutive years.

Today GM loses money building cars, but makes billions managing it's pension fund. This makes the phrase "our greatest asset is our people" all too true. So if not for those benefits you complain about, GM might be gone by now - this makes your post quite ironic and in need of restatement.

Moreover, the workers have quite vocally complained about the direction management has taken in light of competition from overseas hybrids and even threatened to sue GM executives for mismanagement. The UAW has spent it's own money lobbying Congress to provide incentives for US carmakers to build hybrids because they felt that the early success of the Prius in 2000, 2001 and 2002 signaled a coming shift in the industry. Now it is 2007 and we see the unions were right, and GM was wrong - GM's sales continue to slide and Toyota, the most profitable AND most fuel-efficient AND least polluting carmaker is poised to premiere the hybrid Camry, combining the best selling car in the US with technology that will save the driver money over the life of the car. Behind that launch will be the hybrid Corolla, currently being designed to bring an affordable hybrid to US buyers. Bravo to the UAW for trying multiple ways to remain competitive despite poor management.

This debate is closely related to the debate over immigration. Caterpillar shows how busting it's unions can keep it competitive, now with a market value higher then the big three combined. Unfortunately, they now pay an average of $10 hour meaning tens of thousands of it's employees better not plan to send their kids to college. Jumping on this bandwagon is Chrysler, bitterly pawned off by Daimler onto Cerebrus who began negotiations with the union seeking starting pay of $12 per hour.

This is the effect of not only immigration, but of globalization. Before NAFTA, we were told to proudly "buy American", but now there is hardly anything being manufactured here. No TVs, appliances, electronics, bicycles, sneakers and fewer cars every day. Wal-Mart leads the corporate offenders, with 1 million low-wage employees, cheaply manufactured imported goods, and numerous, repeated violations of immigrant hiring laws. Despite it's size, this company does the USA no good. It's business practices add to the record trade deficit, target and destroy small businesses all up and down hometown USA main streets, and trains their employees in the tricks and practices of leeching off state and local assistance programs like foodstamps and health clinics, to avoid paying a living wage.

This is America's largest corporation today, our largest employer, a low-class, low-rent box store combining policies neither Orwell nor Dickens could have imagined. Give me the lively see-saw battle of a US auto manufacturer with it's worker union any day.

I'd pay more for products with conscious any day. Like green products, or sweat-shop free products. Or even Made in the USA products. But you won't - and that's our problem. Each Wal-Mart has 10,000 customers a day, uninformed, unenlightened and not giving a rat's tail about anything other then low price.

Which brings us to the subject of our mutual greed. The immigrants seek "a better life", but are actually quite happy on the sub-minimum wage off-the-books wages they earn doing backbreaking labor here illegally - it still beats the options back home. But the folks who hire them have a much deeper greed. They have more options - they could hire a licensed, insured, bonded, taxpaying landscaper, but are looking to save money, unmindful of their contribution in depressing American wages, exportation of US cash, and increasing the lure of other immigrants. Large corporations are complicit, with Tyson Foods, Smithfield and Swift Meats all enormous hirers of illegals, with half their plants staffed by undocumented workers. This amounts to millions and millions in saved wages, not only the lower pay they get away with, but they way this drives down legal workers' salaries.

So the deportation option is dumb and hollow without enforcement and fines for the corporations, businesses or employers of illegals. In combatting prostitution, going only after the hookers is a exercise in folly - they have little to lose in going for the gusto and hoping to get away unscathed. But start publishing the pictures of the johns in the paper, and you'll see the industry dry up overnight. But Republicans are as hooked on low wages and (artificially) increased productivity as Liberals are on providing social services and entitlements, effectively another example where the politicians are using taxpayer money to pocket private profit.

So like it or not, the immigrants are here, too many to be deported or even accurately counted. Some say the reason is because US policies in Mexico and Central America have made it unlivable there. That we'd be better off taking all the money we pay for social services and infrastructure here and invest it in those countries where the same money has much greater value to "keep the workers working over there, so they don't have to work over here". Specifically, giving jobs and livelihoods to women of child bearing age who would otherwise just keep cranking out pups (Honduras for example averages 4.4 children per woman).

The entire issue is all a smokescreen for the problem of overpopulation. The US is growing too fast, and in major part by immigrants because their home countries are too mobile. Without working economies and representative governments, poverty drives families to have more and more kids who try to come to the US.

Even in the so-called civilized USA, there is no awareness of the overpopulation problem, even though the average one-way commute is 45 minutes, with people camped inside idling cars in packed highways in every day. Though we are reminded our fertility rates are stable, almost every American city has outgrown it's infrastructure, water resources are getting more scarce and energy costs are slated to increase by 50% in coming years. Urban sprawl and overdevelopment has reached far into formerly outlying wildernesses and put identical shopping malls in every locality up and down the geography of our country. The Gap, Ladies Foot Locker, Dunkin Donuts up and down the longitude and latitude of the country that once was robust with diversity and small town charm. And if you think it's bad in the US, look at China where four times the population of the US is cramped into a country about the same geographic size as ours. This means there are more people of above average intelligence in China then there are people in the US. They've had population-control laws in place for over 25 years, mandating that families can only have one child. Do you think that would go over well here? India is surging as well, with engineering and business schools brimming with talent ready to inspect our CAT scans or handle our telemarketing for us.

America needs to seriously rethink it's family planning, economic values, infrastructure and job prospects for the future. In the US there is one birth every 8 seconds, one death every 13 seconds and one international migrant (net) every 27 seconds, meaning the US is gaining one person every 11 seconds, while our jobs are being continually shipped overseas or being replaced by automation. So families that have more then 2 children increase the overpopulation problem.

We are today the consumer and customer of the world, bred to buy and borrow and fattened up for the impending kill. Just like Halliburton has announced it will be moving it's HQ to Dubai, after receiving billions in contracts from American taxpayers, so too will we learn exactly how the multinational corporations have been playing us. With branches in more then one country, these massive international conglomerates can sell themselves goods at any price and choose which countries to pay their taxes in, moving assets about to avoid paying taxes altogether.
This is how this racket works, written by the former VP of Pfizer:
http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/HL0611/S00390.htm

This is how much of various US industry is owned by foreign investment:
http://www.economyincrisis.org/content/ownership

What I hope we can all learn it is not the left or right allowing the immigrants in to depress American wages and take away jobs, it is the rich who benefit, helping to create the Two Americas concepts where a destitute slave class struggles to serve the feudal lords who own all the wealth. Even Ann Coulter affirms and celebrates this. Wake up and see how this land of Wal-Marts and cookie cutter malls are only taking good jobs away from locals and extracting profits off to another state or country. Your region is undoubtedly shipping off it's local revenue off to multinational corporations who have no allegiance to any country, only accumulation of wealth.

What would help? First creation of an American Union, similar to the EU which would create a representative council of nations from Canada to Chile and work to encourage curbing of population growth by any means that work, and cooperation on issues like agriculture, immigration and the environment. Unfortunately, US policy continues to exert political and economic control over many South American nations, installing puppet dictators in "banana republics" for decades, allegedly including more recently the black bag operations detailed in Confessions of an Economic Hit Man and A Game As Old As Empire. In the end, it all comes down to simple morality - if not for the pursuit of greed and wealth, people of the world might make headway in structuring alliances for mutual coexistence. But the lack of morality, particularly between the international corporations and their hired politicians in the U.S., we will continue to have the chaos in our cities and towns you all complain of.

As an international adoptive parent and inner city schoolteacher, I do my best to educate immigrant children (about 1/4 of the school) to assimilate, to become productive members of the country and the world. By and large, these kids are more studious then their native counterparts, complain less, get into trouble less and are less likely to be obese or from broken homes. Though I am not allowed to know their status, it's clear many are undocumented, but just like the Italian, Irish, Asian and European immigrants that came before them and are now ensconced in American society, they seem to appreciate the USA far more then the people who moan and complain but do not take an active role in politics or civic policy on any level. Please list what you are doing to help the situation so we can see who is part of the problem and who is actively exploring possible solutions.

Deport'Em
A fella had the idea that rather than keep on importing Mexicans, we should export Ted kennedy. A good start, but why not get rid of the whole family along with the Bushes,NcCain,Kyl,Graham,Durbin,Obamarama,DEFINITELY Chuck Schumer and the Clintons too. If we succeed in that, we can start working on Lawyers,Law Students and absolutely,Law Professors.

where do they get the money?
It strikes me that all these small businesses that couldn't survive without paying substandard wages to illegal immigrants seem to have plenty of cash with which to lobby Congress. It also strikes me that if we legalize the current illegal immigrants, they will demand standard wages. These small businesses that depend on illegal immigrant labor have to be a fiction.

Democrats importing a new slave class
Yes, the Democrat elites are fond of others being in virtual if not actual servitude to them. Watch the D's bring back the draft (oops, "Universal National Service") if they win in '08. They'll have some rationalization about how it's appropriate and noble to give coerced, involuntary service to your country - but what they really want is another source of young, energetic, and sponge-headed subjects to inculcate with their collectivist philosophy. Democrats love it when people come to believe they are subjects (slaves) of the government, rather than its masters. What better way to acclimate the nation's youth to slavery than through coerced "service" to the collective?

Report critical of Bush

Report critical of Bush immigration record

Why would President Bush start enforcing immigration laws after a new bill when he is not doing it now?

CNN-WASHINGTON (AP) — Immigration arrests under President Bush are “stagnant and unimpressive” despite massive increases in Border Patrol agents and other immigration enforcement measures imposed since 2000, a report found.
Bush promoted border enforcement successes this week while pushing Congress for a comprehensive immigration policy overhaul. But the centrist private group Third Way questioned his record in a study released Thursday. It found that arrests and deportations are down almost 30 percent since the Clinton years.

“The decline in immigration enforcement has been steady, dramatic and long-standing,” said Jim Kessler, the group’s vice president for policy and a co-author of the report. “This may not be the cause of our illegal immigration crisis, but it has certainly contributed to it.”

Latest Congressional approval poll
According to the Fuzzy poll of 5/26/2007 confidence in the United States Congress in general has dipped to its lowest level ever, bouncing between zero and 1%.

Approval rating of House Republicans - 3%
Approval rating of House Democrats - statistically zero.

Approval rating of Republican Senators - Can't get a pulse.

Approval rating of Democrat Senators - Taken as a rhetorical question. No approval noticed among sane people.

Morons & mentally deficient Americans were eliminated from the poll to avoid bias in favor of Democrats.

Well- There you have it folks.

Morons & illegal aliens are having the time of their life and LOVE our congress. If they are added to the poll, congress receives a 100% favorable rating. New of this caused congress to throw a party and raise taxes in celebration.

Good Article Ann, but what about Dubya
This was one of your best articles and I agree with everything you said. The problem is what you left out.

There has been a large scale sell out by Republicans as well, starting with Dubya, who seems to worry more about Mexicans than Americans. The Bushites are selling this country on an international garage sale and this is one part of it. But then there is also Guliani and McCain. Bloomberg is a Republican too. To be a member of any political pary simply involves getting on the State Governments web site and clicking a radio button. That is how I dropped my membership in the Republican party and became an Independent.

If all Republicans wanted to enforce our borders, and only enforce our borders, I would still be a Republican. But Republicans like cheap labor too.

I think it is the Republicans who support amnesty that are the ones who want to import slave labor.

The motive of the Democrats is that they want to create a consituency for their welfare state obsessions. When Americans began to resent welfare programs, the Democrats decided to replace them with a new constituency that would support their socialist dementia.

The American system was so successful after WWII that the new dealers lost their energy. They want to destroy the middle class so they can resume their power hungry agenda. The Republicans (Bushite ones anyway) are biting the hand that fed them, because they are a bunch of mean spirited selfish pr@cks who resent the fact that other Americans had a piece of the action too.

For me, it is either Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson, Tancreto or no one! NO AMNESTY!!

ANYONE????
Anyone out there willing to discuss / plan armed (rifles) protests? Check your state laws, most states do not prohibit open carry of long guns as long as they are not used in a threatening manner. If you can't pull yourself away from American Idol long enough to participate, please do not respond. You can just continue cowering in the corner while asking other parents to send their kids off to war to be blown up. Some of us are ahead of the rest in realizing that no elected politician can stop this, no matter how strong they are. Some of us also realize that we are a nation at war, and the civilians, in the absence of government forces, MUST secure the border!!! (With rifles, not cell phones like some claim to be doing)

John Konop
We had no choice with GWB. No one thought he was conservative before he got elected the first time. He was only, as usual, better than the alternative (one of which was McCain).

He didn't even pretend to be conservative. He has done some good things when he chooses to lean conservative but every good thing is about to be wiped out with immigration.

I pray for GWB because I don't walk in his shoes & know there must be gut wrenching concessions sometimes for the greater good. Being on the outside of politics, I firmly believe there are still many concessions that should never, ever be made. We are discussing one of them here today.

George has crossed the line. I believe he is a decent man but an average leader. Remembering the Republican revolution of 1994 - that is when we had Newt being an awakened lion holding firm to what was right and decent. He was sacrificed for doing nothing more than has been done at least twice since by CURRENT members of congress.

I long for a lion that stands tall in the face of all comers. Someone who got elected because he or she was honest and really is conservative. The icing on the cake would be if if was a minority person. My heart soars when I see another black man stand for conservative values after coming from generations of "close your eyes, pull the voting lever for straight democrat party, and wait for the candy to drop from the federal goodybag".

George W. Bush Is GOP’s Bill Clinton

I recommend everyone read this article. Do you think Ron Paul is the only hope for the GOP in 08?

by Chuck Baldwin

Those of you who heard my radio program back in 2001 know that I predicted then that George W. Bush would do to the Republican Party much the same thing that Bill Clinton did to the Democratic Party. However, I must confess, I could not then realize the magnitude of that prediction.

Most of us remember that it was the election of Bill Clinton in 1992 that was the impetus for the Republican revolution of 1994. If you recall, a congressional election sweep of the magnitude of 1994 had not been seen in the previous seventy years. It is a truism that Bill Clinton helped to elect more Republicans than the Republican National Committee could ever dream about. Now, the same thing is happening with George W. Bush. In spades!

Amazingly, the two issues that I predicated my prediction on have materialized exactly as I said they would. I warned my audience in 2001 that George W. Bush had every intention of invading Iraq, and once there, did not plan to leave, but would probably seek to expand the war’s theatre. I also predicted that Bush would seek to facilitate illegal immigration and create the working group to create a hemispheric government.

So much good stuff
Ok - lets make a law that illegals will be considered illegal.

Done.

Ok - lets make a law that says people doing illegal things are lawbreakers.

Considering.

Ok - lets give people jobs, healthcare, and free legal protection for breaking the law.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.............it feels so good and there are always towels in my hotel room. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM...............

Isn't the next logical step finally shutting down one gov't institution? Shouldn't ICE, INS, whatever be irrelevant if this abortion of an immigration bill passes?

I see a vision of the future. A red carpet all the way from Acapulco to LA. Beautiful taxpayer funded fountains and rest stops along the way. A true utopia. Wheelchair accessible illegal immigration.

Good job you sell out, corrupt, worthless politicians (gotta keep it nice).

On another thread at TH people were upset the Reps were asked about evolution since it was a loaded question. Like trying to figure out what candidates actually believe vs the filthy garbage they say just to get elected.

How many big cities in America don't have a liberal minority mayor 90% of the time? Is it 2 or 3? Its because so few decent people want to be associated with the lying and filth politicians have to engage in to get elected. White people like Bill Clinton use the system to be able to forgo ever having to work as it would have gotten in the way of his gaining power and enhancing his chances for liasons with willing and unwilling concubines, which we all know Hillary is perfectly ok with and is EMPOWERED as a woman by.

My hair is too long according to my wife. Time for a $20 hair cut. That equates to about $400 in tomorrow's after tax value thanks to swindling , law abusing shyster attorneys like John (I'll sue for anything if there is a paycheck in it) Edwards.

What qualities to liberals possess. They are much better liers and proud of it. Its for our own good, isn't it.

Ok - some of it is out of my system. Not much, but some.

AAARRRRGGGGGHhhhhh

Median income dropping

Median income dropping for men, slowing for households

The trade and immigration policy supported by the elites of both parties are destroying working class people. This is why lawmakers will take it on the chin in 08 and beyond the more voters figure out they are being sold out by politicians who are bought off by Multi-national Corporation seeking cheap labor!

MSNBC-The American dream has always held that each generation will enjoy a higher standard of living than the previous one, and that is still true, as measured by household income.

But the generational gains are slowing, and the increased participation of women in the work force is the only thing keeping the dream alive, according to an analysis of Census data released Friday.

A generation ago, American men in their thirties had median annual incomes of about $40,000 compared with men of the same age who now make about $35,000 a year, adjusted for inflation. That’s a 12.5 percent drop between 1974 and 2004, according to the report from the Pew Charitable Trusts’ Economic Mobility Project.

Ann's problem
I love the way Ann blames the wealthy and the liberals, and the "elite." Like this woman is not wealthy or part of the elite. And I love the way she compares the Mexicans crossing the border illegally to rapists. Good way to win an arguement there Ann. Also if anybody wants evidence of the racism rampant in the Republcian party, they need to come read the comments on these sites.

And another thing
What about those three Texas border sheriffs who reported the trend of Middle Eastern types , who live in Mexico a while, until they assimilate enough to pass as a Hispanic, then sneak into America, only to get caught by one of those sheriffs? You figure they are just looking to become a landscaper? You figure they are all getting caught? Why did the downstream media tell us about this fact? Doggonnit, I'm getting sick again.

It would be easier
to deport all the illegals than to read all of these comments, so it would be hard to not be repeating some. If we make it inconvenient for an illegal to live here, they wiil leave, and maybe go home and make their own country a good place to live. We could even give them a hand, or a foot. How about not letting them buy alcohol. Are they not required to show an IDn to buy alcohol? Where the ()#!! do theyn get their's. I went through all kinds of ()#!! getting my DL renewed because the woman at the DL office could not read my SS# at a glance. I gotta go throw up.

NAFTA
This "problem" doesn't go away until NAFTA goes away. Trade isn't free because the markets aren't free. NAFTA HAS to go!

Tax Slavery
When Mr. Chertov let the cat out of the bag, in saying "We need taxpayers to support all the retiring baby-boomers."

I have been concerned for my children and grand-children for some time. Looking at the figures on future tax rates, I've felt that they will have less freedom than we enjoy and will be fundamentally beasts of burden, bearing governmental policies on taxes, self-expression, bent beneath legislative excess, executive indifference, an judicial activism.

I am 60 years old, disabled and supported by my hard working wife who loves me very much. Her retirement plan is with a state fund. THIS I BELIEVE MOST STRONGLY, I REFUSE TO PUT MY LOVED ONES IN THIS POSITION. If this is so, let me say that I reject the enslavement of any other "group" to 'cover' shortfalls in the governmental program that will not be reformed.

Stop slavery now.FtA

Finally, the cat's out of the box!
Finally, our Ann has spoken the truth that illegal immigrants are the new slaves of the 21st century. Ann writes: "This vast class of unskilled immigrants is the left's new form of slavery."

But come on Ann, you shouldn't put it all on the left's shoulder, the right is as much to blame as the left is. It's all about big (and small) businesses wanting cheap labor.

I'm so ashamed that our country still operates in the slave business, yet spins it by calling it "the American dream". Yet they aren't paid fairly, aren't given health insurance or paid holidays, or even a voice if they are treated badly. Downright slavery, no matter how you try to spin it. Don't get me wrong - I want the borders closed and I think they should be sent back to wait in line to come here legally (which in the long run would be better for them). Although, being used like slaves is wrong.

My question is - If we give amnesty to all of these illegals and the minimum wage has been increased (which they will have to be paid) - which group will then become the new slaves in America? I'm afraid the Portuguese will have to get back in the slave trading business again, since we'll be needing cheap labor.

Does anyone know how to say "you wanta job?" in Swati or Tumbuka?

Teh Employers
We don't have to deport illegal aliens.

It's been said in so many previous posts--in response to Ann's essay, and to previous essays:

If there are no jobs for illegal aliens, the illegal aliens will leave of their own volition.

Crack down on the employers of illegal aliens. That is the key. That is Occam's Razor.

alopekos teumesios
How right you are! Will and Ariel possessed preternatural intuitions. Thanks for the reference.

You Go Girl!
Way to go Ann. Right on as usual.

Be sure and record the vote on the Immigration Bill for future reference. My bet is that at least 90% of every Republican Senator or Representative that votes for this bill will not be re-elected. Congress has just not figure it out that America is mad as Hell and do not trust them to make the laws for the rest of us!!!

Liberty
Cheney has no intention of running and I did not say he would.
I am fully aware of all the New Left LIES about Cheney. As many times as Amnesty International has been caught inventing U.S. atrocities I find ANYONE laughable who still gives them credibility.

I was trying to enlighten Democrats to the fact that removing Bush OR Cheney at this time would be equal to giving the 08 Republican candidate untold millions of dollars worth of free air time.

I do not see a strong Democrat candidate.
Giving the Republican candidate a head start would not be very smart but it would be typical.

MyOpine
Do you really think Cheney would stand a chance? More people associate HIM with the Iraq war, Halliburton, Gitmo, torture, etc., than I think they do Bush.

I think he would be flattened like a pancake.

MyOpine
"Just announcing intent to put America on Full Wartime Footing, ration food and gas and warning people to register for ration books, would start a mass migration of Mexicans leaving while they still could."

MyOpine, I understand the intent and I certainly agree with it, but this sounds a lot like martial law. Given some of the other things going on, I would really be concerned about using this particular approach.

Taken a look at President Bush's new Executive Order?

The illegal invaders have their own vehicles now (remember all the DUI, hit-and-run illegals?), so they can drive themselves back to Mexico. Cut out the freebies. Adios.

Charlie, La Raza won't waste their time and energy "debating about deporting us," and they won't worry about being fair.

If this bill passes, our teachers will be required to take 300 hours of ESL (English as a Second Language).

American college students will have to learn Spanish, so that they can apply for jobs that illegals will refuse.

Countryman
We have a new system to replace land mines that works sort of like command detonated mines but instead of mines it fires mortor shells instead.
Using that system, backed up with Apaches, America COULD seal that border within hours.

Just announcing intent to put America on Full Wartime Footing, ration food and gas and warning people to register for ration books, would start a mass migration of Mexicans leaving while they still could.

With gas rationed they could not get back to Mexico.
With food rationed they could starve or turn themselves in to the INS.

Our Government COULD get them out if they wanted to and let only those we wanted here to enter.
Our Congress is too blind to see the real harm they are doing.

This open border costs us more tax money than the Iraq war.
It costs us more American civilian casualties than the number of soldies we loose in Iraq.
It degrades our schools and medical facilities.
They are polluting our rivers & streams just like they do in Mexico and soon we will have the same water quality as Mexico.
NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE!

don't get me wrong..
you liberals who sneak a peek at this column (but you will anyway).

If Hitler was able to identify and round up millions of Jews, Poles, Slovaks, and Gypsies with the paper and pencil bureaucracy of 70 years ago, why is it impossible for the US Government to identify and roundup 12 million illegals with modern computers capable of cross-matching billions of records from all agencies, hospitals, and schools?

Bush not finish term?
The only prayer Democrats have in 08 is that Cheney will not run for president.
If Bush OR Cheney was to leave office early enough for a replacement to gain name recognition, the Democrats do not have a candidate who could beat Fred Flintstone!

This Amnesty thing kind of tore Bush with me but I am kind of interested in seeing what he has in mind to do with his newly acquired powers.

Dying at the Border

Bush Administration, Dying at the Border

This is from “Skeptical Economist”. This is the one of the best articles I have ever read on economics and illegal immigration.

It is no secret that the Bush administration is failing and failing badly. The woes of the administration are legion, Iraq, immigration, the economy, Katrina, health care, gasoline prices, etc. The impact on public opinion is profound. Bush is well on his way to being one of the least popular presidents in U.S. history. His current popularity rating of 31% may be a high water mark. The twenties and perhaps teens are not that far off. Increasingly he has lost, not just liberals and mainstream Americans, but conservatives as well. The key question is why? Why has this once promising administration gone downhill so far and so fast? Is it just bad luck or is their a deeper force at work? In my view, the ideology and practice of Open Borders has condemned this president to complete failure. Could the Bush administration turn itself around by changing its stance on immigration? Yes, but it is exceedingly unlikely to happen. Bush is doomed and may not finish his term in office.

All-AmeRICKcan - your post of 2:58 PM

Query: If the posters on this web site can understand what you are saying, why is it that the people who are responsible for our present condition - the liberal indoctrination system, the MSM, the judicial system - also do not understand it?

Why is it they persist in greasing the skids on a failed agenda? They are just like GWB. They don't want to admit defeat and just keep adding more fuel to the fire.

Thanks for listening
On BBCs Question Time tonight, I heard the following (it's in the first 5 minutes of the programme - try the link)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/question_time/default.stm

Q: Does yesterday's news of terror suspects absconding not prove that Britain needs to put national security ahead of the human rights act?

In response, Michael Hesletine (Conservative MP) provided a considered and measured analysis relating to security, the European Court of Human Rights and a critique of the effectiveness of control orders.

Here's what Bob Crow of the RMT Union had to say:

We all totally deplore terrorism ... by the same token we have got to look at the human right issue ...

Then, intellectually incapable of providing an analysis of the situation, he instead launched into an attack on the Thatcher government, comparing its handling of the miners strike with the way East Europeans were treated by their governments during the Cold War!!!

Presumably he is referring to the Gulag that Thatcher threw the miners in!

This is why I listen to conservative talk radio on townhall.com. The BBC is bad for my blood pressure!!!

Malou clarifies the leftists' position
on immigration (see her post on Wednesday, May, 23, 2007 9:02 PM): no borders; whoever wants can come on in (except there is no "in" because there wouldn't be any borders). I'm always happy when leftists are honest and put their position on the table for everyone to see how looney the left really is. Would that their politicians did the same.

By the way, anyone interested in more columns on immigration and amnesty is welcome to drop by my blog (just click on my name); I've got links to a couple of columns by Mark Steyn, Jack Kelly, and others. This has been a public service announcement.

Jobe
Your careful reading no doubt picked up the specific references to "Ted Kennedy", "Liberals", and "Democrats" singled out by Ms. Coulter as being responsible for the immigration bill, and you certainly could not have missed the fact that Ms. Coulter studiously avoided any reference to "Trent Lott" (or any of the many other Republican senators who sponsored or support the bill), "Conservatives", or "Republicans." As the old saying goes, sometimes its not what you say that counts--its what you don't say.

wayward1

"Where are our Patrick Henry's of the day?"

Right behind you o' wayward1.

Maths & Science
I agree with your point about math and science.
I sometimes think that our youth are not being taught the economic facts of life at a young enough age.

Before any kids are shown Al Gore's horror movie "Waterworld" or whatever it's called, they should first be taught about infrastructure.

You know - running water, lighting, heating etc.
They should be taught about shipping, and oil exploration, and food storage and all the industrial processes that go on in the background to provide them with such a comfortable life (for the vast majority of people in any case).

They should be taught all of this before they are taught all that crap about how capitalism is destroying the world!

On another note - or what really gets my goat:

In the UK the latest problem we have is a "deprived" underclass that beats people up and FILMS the beating on video mobile phones!!!

Unbelievable. What do you mean deprived?

People like this take advantage of all the factory workers who put in long hours to build the mobile phones, and all the graduates who bothered to learn Maxwell's equations so they might have a chance at understanding how electromagnetic signals are transmitted.

People like this don't deserve video phones.

They don't even deserve running water. They should be chucked into a C130 and parachuted over Afghanistan to see how the other half live.

lilly - immigrant engineers

You are absolutely correct regarding the current engineering situation in the U.S.

A recent article in a California newspaper highlighted that fact that the State would be in serious trouble in less than 20 years if more students don't enter engineering school. The kids today - and I put the blame on the unions and the NEA - are not motivating students today to tackle the challenge of knowing math and science.

An earlier poster brought up what the influence of the Chinese will be in our culture in the not-to-distance future. The high school I went to in San Francisco only had a nominal number of Chinese. Today, over 50% of the student body is Asian. Virtually all of them go on to Cal-Berkeley and Stanford and many schools in the East.

They will be the financial and scientific leaders in our communities before this century is over. Those of Mexican descent.....well, I suppose most of them will be doing then what they are doing today.

A Real Conservative Party.
Ladies and Gentlemen:

The immigration bill, the hate crimes legislation, the law of the seas (Phylis Schaffely has written on this several time in the past few week with very little response). It is all linked together and is heading the same way organized by the same people.

What does it take to establish a true conservative party? There appears to be a number of fabulously wealthy men (e.g. Soros & Bloomberg) who are willing to finance the promotion of socialist government. Are there no wealthy men who will throw their weight and treasure for capitalism and constitutional government? If you have political capital you burn it on worthwhile causes. If you have fabulous wealth now is the time to use it for the promotion of capitalism and our constitutional government?

As to the rest of us… are we old and retired with little left in us but to follow TH? Or are we too busy working to keep body and soul together and pay the bills?

How do we do it?

I’d like to stay and follow this thread but I must go to work. (I answered half of my question.) If I’m still standing I’ll check back at 11:00

Coulter neyyyyy!
Polla consistently show McCain-Kennedy and other similar bills are favored by larger numbers of GOP voters than Dems, but Dem. voters consider immigration less important. A neighbor of mine, a GOP money man, says its because Dems focus is on Iraq. Republicans include large numbers of religous groups who favor illegals, along with many business interests, like Chambers of Commerce. Former Reaganites, including Larry Kudlow and Grover Norquist. GOP leadman Ed Gillespie works as a lobbyist for groups pushing illegal immigration and for Airbus.

Bigmick
My name gives you a clue ...

I have just been listening to Dennis Prager's arguments about immigration (Monday Prager H3).

It's an interesting argument he makes ...

ANOTHER GREAT article by Ann Coulter
Thank you Ann!! :-)

Bring back the ability to secede
As the democrats reclaim there slave heritage is it not possible for the south to secede and close its border? Having been taught the lesson of slavery from big yanks with lots of big guns we really don’t need that retribution and vulnerability all over again—do we?

Funny!
Anne, you are hilarious.

"The key to good humor is that it is based on the truth."

I take it back... Anne, you are scary!

Thanks for the way you do that thing you do!

nastiman - 7:47 PM entry
Bulls eye. Absolutely dead center.

But be careful... your wisdom is showing.

It still boggles my mind how many people fell for the lie that the minimum wage is a "living" wage and not the ENTRY-level wage that it is.

And how many people that don't realize - that by raising the minimum wage, they just socked it to the ones who most desperately need the job and the training... the inner-city black teenager.

Disguisting.

truthteller,
I'm a pretty careful reader and I did not see language that excluded republicans from the wrath of Ms. Coulter. Do me a favor, point the specific language out for me.

The end of America as we know it
Having taught (conservative) history and politics for 30+ years in a Long Island public high school and being witness, but not a party to, the indoctrination known as "multi-culturalism" (diversity) in our public education system I have come to the inescapable conclusion that this ongoing balkanization is destroying this once great country.

Assimilation, the melting pot, if you will is dead and its death ultimately means the death of what "America" once represented. The sickening emphasis on ethnic identity, misplaced compassion for people invading our nation, political correctness, religious, racial, sexual and ethnic enclaves and a total lack of conviction and courage by our elected representatives portends the end of a once great nation. Whether we speak of the war against Islamofacism, immigration, abortion, taxes, et.al., everything is seen through the ugly prism of some hyphenated group (African-American, Gay-American, Mexican-American,Islamic-Americans, etc.). Everybody has a grievance to bear and it is usaully claimed that the roots of those grievances rest in that group's historic victimization by, of courses, the white man and Anglo culture.

Now, once more the feckless politicians in D.C. are again trying to pull more wool over our eyes and even if they fail with this bill they will not stop in their efforts to permit the slow death of "Americanism."

By choice, my wife and I opted not to have children and I know that I denied myself a certain amount of self-fufillment by doing so, however when I see where this country is headed and how quickly we are going there I also feel that I've made a wise choice. 30+ years from now this country will no longer be recognizable as the United States I grew up in. This trend began with the inception of the USA as a welfare state and has grown and permeated every aspect of our culture and it sickens me.

Mr. Lincoln said it best: "Whence shall we expect the approach of danger? Shall some trans-Atlantic giant step the earth and crush us at a blow? Never!...If destruction be our lot we ourselves must be its author. As a nation of free men we will live forever or die by suicide." We are witness to a suicide.

Anne's never wrong
Criticize her if you like but Anne Colters right 99% of the time. Her articles are a must read and remember, she's far smarter than you and i.

Ahem!
Why not have an exchange scheme? Michael Moore can live in Cuba, a Cuban refugee can live in the UK, and I get to live in the US of A.

That way, everyone is happy!

Immigration
As a conservative, I am sick and tired of all the whining from conservative writers and talk show hosts about this issue. Most comments relate to hype like amnesty, slaves, etc. It is also amazing how many conservatives are willing to leave conservative principles pertaining to this issue. Examples are: cheap labor, permanent underclass, law breakers. I would prefer more discussion on viable solutions. Therefore here is mine.
1. secure the border-the goal should be to make it 95% probablity of getting caught if you try to cross the border not going through INS. The motivation for this is not immigration, but security. A secondary benefit would be to put teeth into deportation. Currently deportation is a revolving door.
2. Significantly vet the current illegal population-I feel that the carrot of legalization will bring most out of hiding to get documented. This would allow these folks to get bank accounts, drivers licenses, etc. The primary goal is to get the number of undocumented down to a managable level, then deal with those.
3. Establish an immigration board that manages legal immigration based on employment need, economic impact, and future demographic issues. The basic guidelines would be to keep employee to retiree ratios about 4 to 1. According to Larry Kudlow, that would keep us at a nice population growth rate (2million/year over 20 years) and does not replace those lost by past and projected abortation.

I believe the cost and disruption of having 10 million+ people up and leave is not worth the principle of "punish law breakers". Especially when current unemployment is below 4.8%.

joke
knock knock whos there a skilled worker can i come in before u build a fence.no, got enough but at least u asked.

Greg England
You bring up a good point albeit jokingly.

If someone wants to emigrate to the USA and has a "HOT" skill, they should be pushed to the head of the line or "fasttracked" if you will. That BENEFITS the USA, the immigrant, as well as making sure they HAVE a job to go to and are vetted.

patches patches patches
Whoaaaa Patches! "If we FORCED American companies to come back to America"? You sound like Hillary with her "I would TAKE those profits", referring to the money EARNED by oil companies, or her statement to a roomful of wealthy democat donors "we will take those tax reductions back FOR THE GREATER GOOD" My Lord man, those two statements, and yours also, are right out of Lenins book.

gunnyg, your right on the education thing.i live and work in sothern cal. i c first hand the immagration problem and here in la county its so bad im about 2 move.how mutch do u think we would save if we stopped printing everything in spanish millions if not billions. 4 every book written another has 2 be written in spanish.americans dont speek spanish.its crazy man.

Why the madness festers
It all goes back to... this: http://www.eagleforum.org/topics/NAU/

It's the only thing that makes sense to me logically, even if at first it makes you think "huh?? No way." It's well researched and has clear evidence. If we build a fence (which is easy, and not too expensive if you compare it to say, education, which won't exist if we're all dead anyway from a terrorist nuke being "smuggled" over the boarder) it'd ruin this NAU plan.

Knock knock
I'm a skilled worker, and I speak English.
Before you put that fence up, can I come in?

if we just inforced our laws now we wouldnt even be talking about this. thats whats the real problem.why even have laws if we dont enforce them.

thinker
I'm not surprised. The hispanics do not put an emphasis on education (en masse) as other races do. My parents, Dad especially, was kicking that A** for ANYTHING under a B and he even freaked over B's! His question was always, "If you can make a B why not an A?"

Indeed, the Asians put the rest of us to shame but for hispanics, school simply sucks. I've seen this when I was working out in AZ/NM.

So, they found that these men
were illegal after they had been working for 10 days. This new law only gives them 24 hours to check! That is one of the reasons this new law is a farce.

immagration
mexicans dont do jobs americans wont do.they do jobs we wont do 4 3dollars an hour. for all the money they pay in taxes, its sucked out in welfareand our prison systems.its not 4 mexecins do decide how many come here its 4 us.if we just had mexicos immagration policy they wouldnt be here. there are hugarians, africans, poloish, french, chinees, koreans, tons of people who cant come here because of mexicans.its not 4 them 2 decidec who comes.just because u share a border with us gives u no right to come here.bottem line they want to breed us out and take huge parts of this nation back.millions already look at mexico as there true nation with no thoughs of assemelating.i undestand they come because there starving. to bad there are tons of americans starving they should come first. mexicans should try to fix there own country instead of ruining ours.

HEY YOU!
There are many Americans who do not follow politics and have no idea what is going on.
Do you know any of those people?

Send them an e-mail and tell them how 20 million illegals coming into the open and joining the legitimate labor market will affect their jobs.

Explain how many of the American workers who would be displaced "Live on the edge", butt over head in debt and will loose homes & cars.
Explain what an epidemic of forclosures glutting the market will do to the value of that home they worked so hard for.

Explain what a glut of forclosures will do to our banking system and American enterprise.

Tell them this Amnesty Bill will affect THEIR livelyhood!
Tell them where to call and e-mail.

Our mission
is to keep the issue "HOT!" Badgering the pols and law enforcement to do their d*mn jobs and uphold their oath of office will result in more of this!

KENNNEDY'S CHOICE - IQ OF 87 (HIS#)
Heather McDonald: “From 1990 to 2004, Hispanics accounted for 92 percent of the increase in poor people. Half of all children born to Hispanic-Americans in 2005 were born out of wedlock -- a reliable predictor of social pathologies.”

Robert Rector of The Heritage Foundation: “ a low-skilled population will cost the welfare state far more than the immigrants' contributions to the economy and government. He argued that low-skilled immigrants are costly to the welfare state at every point in their life cycle, and are very costly when elderly. Just the 9 million to 10 million illegal adults already here will, if given amnesty, cost an average of $300,000 -- cumulatively, more than $2.5 trillion -- in various entitlements (Social Security, food stamps, Medicaid, housing, etc.) over 30 yrs.

Peter Brimelow, "There is recent evidence that, even after four generations, fewer than 10 percent of Mexicans have post-high school degrees, as opposed to nearly half of non-Mexican-Americans."

Lolo
I hear you and agree. Our crop of gutless politicians are afraid to stand up and say what they believe in for fear of: ACLU, Code Pink, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, La Raza, ATZLAN, etc, etc.

GunnyG
I'll tell you what it says...They are hiring cheap labor. Think about how many politicians have lost their position because they have illegal nannies etc. WSJ represents big business first and foremost. Take what they say with a grain of salt as you should with anything in the media. Hiring cheap illegal labor increases the profit margin in two ways. They cut their overhead(not just in wages btw) and their fellow citizens help pay the wages in the form of taxes and social services. This is why you will never see any politician in any party ever move to do away with and social service program.

MyOpine

AND; The 40 months Americans must work to be eligible for SSI?
Mexican Nationals will be eligible for our SSI after 18 months.

Ann doesn't know how right she is!
We had an artificial turf lawn put in this week that cost a minor fortune. The company and salesman were all white. The workers however were straight from Mexico. It broke my heart when I found out how much they were making for that back breaking labor. Needless to say I encouraged those men to demand more money and explained to them that no other race in America would tolerate that low pay. We had quite a conversation about how to undertake this. I also encouraged them to get their fellow Hispanics to start demanding more money. This has a two fold purpose. If they make more money it is less they take in social services. If they demand more money en masse you will be amazed how quick that border will close. Money is the key motivator for people on both sides of the issue. Both want to exploit for personal gain, and we the law abiding tax paying citizens get the shaft.

Agreed on the cheap labor in the short run but in the long run, it's killing us. WTF does THAT say for the politicians and business leaders who are supossed to be running the show!

Vic
You are EXACTLY right. They are definately gaming the system and I think that Americans are seriously getting tired of it. It'll take another year or two, but we're seeing the beginning of a backlash against the pols as well as their voter base, the illegals.

GunnyG and poot
GunnyG: I read the WSJ everyday and they have been out to luch on this issue for a long, long time. They take this position because they want cheap labor and it does a end run around the unions.

poot: ON THE MONEY! This is what I have been saying for a long time. The Silent Majority can no longer afford to be silent since most issues get decided before they ever see the ballot box.

SSGTRET
Good luck to him. I posted a highly motivation article on a devil dog. It's a compare and contrast between the Marine and a slimy hippie in Bezerkely!

To GunnyG
What the WSJ is missing is that welfare and food stamps are State programs and elligability depends on the State. My State dos not allow illegals to draw welfare and food stamps, but that doesn't necessarily follow for other more liberal States. As for the "rent" argument one house being rented will house at least 4 mexican families. So I wonder at how much school taxes are paid.

Here it is
This is how the rumors concerning how "great" the invasion of the benefit snatchers is.

http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110010116

The WSJ sure missed the boat here.

Take back your country
Boys & Girls, I hate to be the party-pooper here, but this is a country of the people, for the people and by the people. If you're sitting on the sidelines and not taking action, then you're part of the problem. You are allowing your country to be taken in a direction that you abhore.

Have you gotten involved in your local political party activities? Do you vote in primaries? Are you doing everything you can do to affect the changes that we all see are necessary? This is not a spectator sport and I know we all work very hard for a living and all, but this is important. We're talking about the survival of our nation.

I don't have a problem with Mexican people or Brown-skinned people, or whatever. What I have a problem with is unfettered access to our country with no safeguards that the people streaming in are not here to destroy us. The USA as enemies all over the world and to leave the front door open for anyone and everyone to come across our border at will is suicide.

The solution is simple, but not easy. We have to overtake the political-elite class in our country the only legal and non-violent way available. The remedy is right before us; we just have to get off our behinds and fight for our survival. If the liberal vermin in this country can take control of the government, the media, hollywood, and our universities, we have to be willing to do the heavy lifting to take it back.

Whining and complaining won't get it done. Contact your local political delegation and get involved. Affect change. Make your voice heard. Calling Congress and the President is a good way to make yourself feel good and might make a slight difference in one issue at a time, but what we need is wholesale change. We need to purge the political class of the sell-outs who have taken it over. Nothing short of this will put this country on the right path. Oh, yeah, get involved with your kids' educational system too. We need an educated populace to make informed decisions or we'll continue slouching toward Gamora, as Judge Bork once wrote.

SSGTRET
Nada.

It's actually spelled, Lejeune. As in: "General John J. Lejeune was one d*mn fine Leatherneck."

To SSGTRET
I took it as a bad pun, no offense intended.

Georgetwin
Not a bad idea. At least the illegals want to work. Liberals seem to want everything handed to them by Mommy Hitlary and the Dhimmicrat Party.

Low wages in Utah
I agree, Utah's unemployment is very low...last management meeting I was in, it was reported at 2.2%, the lowest since the Great Depression. And because of that, there should not be a "minimum wage" class of worker in this state. Most of these companies would need to compete for labor...hence paying much better than minimum wage for these jobs. Along with hiring incentives even for unskilled labor...my company is offering finders fees for employees finding housekeepers. But the company will hire only legal workers, both citizens and green card holders...as long as they are legal. Oh yes, the housekeeping jobs are 3 to 4 dollars an hour higher than minimum wage.

Here in Utah, if there was no way employers could hire illegals, everyone, including your daughter, would have a higher standard of living. And don't bring up the idea this would drive companies out of business, because there are virtually no companies in Utah that are not making a ton of money. This economy is probably the best in the nation.

Excellent
Excellent article. Isn't it amazing that when chambermaids and bellhops were all legal citizens that I could rent a hotel room in downtown San Francisco for $31 a night. Granted, this was 1974 but it was still a Hyatt. What does this same Hyatt cost today for a single night? Over $200? This must be the result of hiring cheaper labor.

COulter writes "..I keep hearing they are Catholic..."

(shakes head in disgust)

Many of these human beings are Christian. Let me say that again, CHRISTIAN!

COulter writes

"The jejune fact that we "can't deport them all" is supposed to lead ineluctably to the conclusion that we must grant amnesty to illegal aliens -- and fast!"

I like "jejune" and "ineluctable" now those are words!, Hopefuly more people will use them.

But despite the truly elegant language that sentence is just loaded with a massive strawman.

I would modify the statement to

The fact that is is the right thing do leads to the conclusion that we must do it.

I havent heard Bush or any members of COngress say the reason why we must give them a path to citizenship is because we cant round them all up.

But, I dont have access to Lexis Nexis, feel free to use it and tell us who is using that reasoning that you sort of assign to the general ether. By the way a good word to use when you want to assign something to the general ether is "presumably"

Finally!
Now that was a column worthy of O'Rourke, Ann. Bravo!

Best of all, it includes the perfect, universal description of the liberal mind:

"Liberals love to strike generous, humanitarian poses with other people's lives."

Life really is like South Park
Ann's article really reminds me of the "Goobacks" episode of South Park. In it, a bunch of illegal immigrants from the distant future travel back in time and are willing to work for virtually nothing. The liberal class of South Park at first defend their rights (such as Randy the geologist, Stan's dad) until their jobs are taken by the immigrants. Good stuff.

Here's an idea
To build a cheap wall

Stop illegals at the border. Intern them in camps. Pay them below minimum wage (say $2/hr), but provide comfotable cots/tents, and food and have *them* build the wall for us. The irony would be worth it!

Here's another idea: We let them all in, but for every, say, 10,000 illegals residing in the US, we move our southern border 1 linear mile -- from West Coast of Mexico to East -- south. Invasion? No, just making room. The additional land/resources would offset some of the cost nicely. I wonder how the Mexican government would feel about illegal immigration then?

Ann
Jejune? I had to look that one up. Well, Ann, take comfort in the fact that our golf courses will be nice and green. That will replace the green that will come from our wallets.

utahnotmormon vs. utahjackmormon
Utah not a Mormon has apparently not read much of Ann's material. Her writing style is always caustic, sarcastic, and ironic. When she is calling Americans lazy, she is being sarcastic. She is parroting what the 'amnesty now' proponents are saying in a backhanded way. And that is 'Americans are lazy so we need to let all these people in here to do this work that we won't do'....Ann does NOT believe Americans are lazy, if fact, Ann loves America and Americans.

Read a couple of her books or go on her website and read some of her weekly columns...Ann is a satirist first. In fact, Dennis Miller called her one of best natural comics he had ever read.

In a nut-shell
Well said Sir! Sour the milk of the tit that the illegals suckle from and they will ween themselves!

MrBannanaGrabber
I have a friend who started a cleaning business that took off like a shot. He was hiring people and could have grown his business triplefold within the first five years. He could not. Why you ask?

HE COULD NOT FIND RELIABLE WORKERS! He was even offering them partnerships and they declined. That kinda stuff takes WORK!

Why are businesses outsourcing? Because people with a work ethic are being found more and more overseas. Why?

Because most Americans are too busy to get off their azzes and work for what they want. I watched the Asians for years working and brother, they GO AT IT like there is no tomorrow. But we've been corrupted by greedy unions demanding more for less.

I have another friend who retired from Mother Green (USMC) and went to work for the CIA in their Security forces. He was a Shift Leader in 6 months. Why?

Because when they needed people to work overtime, most of the other folks had TV to watch and declined. He didn't. I see this daily among military retirees and/or vets. They are willing to work hard to get the job done but most Americans couldn't give a d*mn.

I lay the blame solely at the liberals and their attempt to create a "great society" during the LBJ years. Why work if the government will wipe your butt from cradle-to-grave? Indeed, why work or create a business if the only thing is going to happen is that the tax and spend Dhimmicrats are gonna tax the bejesus out of you!? Why bother?

Well written Ann,
To expand on one of your points, we don't need to “deport them all.” All we need to do is;

* Outlaw Sanctuary cities (no more safe havens)
* Deny all social service benefits to illegals (no more cash, food or medical assistance)
* Deny citizenship to children born in the US who do not have US citizens as parents
* Make it a crime to rent to an illegal (no more roof to live under)
* Make it a crime to do financial business with illegals (see Bank of America)
* Make the penalties for employing illegals more severe
* Mandate local law enforcement to detain and turn over to INS any illegal they encounter
* Aggressively enforce the laws on the books that illegals already violate to get and stay here

If we act to limit what benefits and rewards the illegal aliens can get once they are here and they start to see us rounding up illegals they will eventually self deport.

If they truly wish to immigrate, assimilate, and become citizens of the U.S. there is a process they can and should follow.

Add the above list securing the borderwith a fence or barrier of some type and hiring more border patrol agents/officers (instead of jailing them for doing their jobs) and it sounds like a pretty “comprehensive” plan to me.

Sour the milk of the tit that the illegals suckle from and they will ween themselves!

Ann
Great column as usual.I do have to agree with several posters above though. This is not just a democRAT screw up.It's a liberal one. This issue has really shown who the the rhinos are, including our own POTUS.You,Ann,should have included pols from BOTH sides of the aisle on this one.

utahnotmormon
You are a very sad case. Making allegations such as these shows only one thing you have your head up your @$$. Since my whole family has at one time or another worked for minimum wage or less. It would make sense to conclude you must be the one on meth or be an alchoholic. You also say americans are lazy. I believe my daughter would disagree with your statements. You see she started working when she was 14 for less then minimum wage, with all the money she saved bought a car and paid for the insurance at 16 and working for just minimum wage, still going to school holding an A average, graduated with honors early at 17 half way through her senior year, became the manager where she worked. She worked doing that for a while, but then a few months after 9-11-2001 she joined the military. She continued with her education, taking classes on line and studing when she had a little time, she has also gotten many differant merits and awards, such as Airman of The Year and was awarded the rank of Staff Sergeant six months before she was Honorably Discharged. She continued her schooling got her degree and is now going to grad school. So I do believe she would take exception to your position as I do.

PAY!
If companies weren't taxed to death in order to cover the drain on social services as a result of 12 million uneducated, poor, uninsured illegals, they would have the money to pay a better rate to attract american workers.
The money is already being spent. Where you you rather it go?

No, no, no.....

I'm an 'average, natural-born American Citizen' and I've had just about enough of the 'you're a racist' line being trotted out, every time there is an issue that affects minorities. I'm not, and as far as I'm concerned, that button has been pushed one too many times. When I hear that line, I now wonder - what are this person / this group / trying to get from me?

At this point - all that I'm willing to accept from Congress, is a bill that tells all the illegal's to go home, and to re-apply - legally. Put the National Guard on the border with instruction to turn anyone back who tries to cross illegally - right then, right there - no hearings, no 'catch and releas' with promises to 'appear' ... they simply return to their home. Give all the illegal's within our country 120 days to leave - after that, it's extremely heavy fines for those who employ them - perhaps even to the point of enacting seizure laws. And for those who call this 'impractical - how are you going to remove 12+ million people?' -- to them I say --- how did they manage to get here in the first place? Let them return the same way they got here. For those who whine 'you can't break up familes ... what about the anchor babies' ... take 'em with you, because we're going to make Congress enact enact a 'no citizenship rights for those who were born to parents of illegal aleins' bill anyway.

I don't want the message sent from our country to the rest of the world -- 'hey, you can break the law getting in here ... don't worry about it, we don't really enforce them anyway ... and we're so weak about it, we'll eventually reward you with a path to citizenship.'

Instead of running out a whole new bill ... why not just enforce the law from the 1986 bill ... you know, the one that was supposed to be THIS IS THE ONE AND ONLY TIME AMNESTY bill? Put the security provisions and employer consequences of that bill to work ... right now. Its LAW ... enforce it...!!!! No more new laws ... until the ones in place are enforced FIRST.

The next argument will be 'what about the economics -- who's going to pick the produce? Haul the bricks? Make the beds?' To that I say --- let the good old 'free market' decide that. If it takes paying someone $20 and hour to pick fruit... then it takes $20/hr ... if it takes $18/hr for someone to make beds... then either pay someone $18/hr to make the beds... or let 'em go unmade...! (As a side note... perhaps Paris Hilton's punishment should be to have to make all the beds in her hotels for 10 weeks ... good 'ol fashioned hard work might make a new girl out of her.)

Congress seems to be happy with just sitting back and letting 'market forces' drive up gasoline prices to back-breaking highs ... why can't they let the same thing happen for every market? You don't seem too concerned about the impact on MY bottom line, when the gas prices jump 10 - 20 - 30+ cents a gallon every week. Why are Congress and the President so concerned about businesses 'bottom line' all the time?

Next point: I'm sure there are plenty of big businesses who LOVE the cheap wages ... and so long as the economy seems to be moving along --- that's great. But, what if we legalize 12M+ people, give them total citizenship rights ... and we have a serious downturn in the economy? What if we shoot up to 10-15% unemployment? Who's going to pay all those 'entitlement' bills (food stamps. Medicare, Social Security... etc.) that will suddenly start pouring in? Those Big Businesses who profited from cheap labor...? Hardly. It's going to fall on the backs of the Average American Citizen. We'll have to foot the bill. And how will that hapen... well, all those 12+M new voters are going to demand their representatives give it to them - after all, they suffered so much being second-class citizens for being bed-makers, brick-haulers, and fruit-pickers --- that the rest of the U.S. population 'owes' them. If you don;t think that's not coming ... you're living in fantasyland.

Congress needs to wake up ... because the 'special interests groups' don't vote them in ... the 'Average American Citizen' does. Congress needs to stop focusing on the top 15% and bottom 15% of wage earners in this country --- and start focusing on the middle 70%. We're watching Congress ... and were getting mad as hell - and aren't going to take it anymore.

Another note slightly off-topic (but not by much)-- the same goes for H-1B increases. No more new people in, until all AMERICAN CITIZENS have been giving the opportunity to attend college ... with a 'G.I. bill' for those who can't afford it. No more outsourcing of American Jobs ... I'm tired of hearing about 'realities of globalization' from people who do nothing but profit from living in the U.S. ...and then have the nerve to disparage hard-working American Workers who want nothing more then a fair share of the profits of the companies who gain by their talents. This is all nothing but a smoke-screen used by corporations to justify driving down wages --- both in this Amnesty Bill, and these H-1B visa programs. Corporate America, the last time I looked ... seems to be doing quite well - profit-wise. It's time for Congress to step in and make sure Corporate America, are being good community citizens.

minimum wage ignorance
If the going rate to get an American worker is $15/hour or $20/hour, that's what we should be paying them. Where is it written that landscape workers and hotel maids MUST be poor? Does supply and demand only work if you're a white collar worker? If Americans willing to do this work are rare and in high demand, pay more and you'll have plenty of them! But until the flood is stopped and the employers who break the laws punished, you can't hire them an American at $15/hour when your competitor is paying $8/hour off the books and the employee is paying no taxes. Illegal (and legal) immigration depresses wages for American workers.

By the way, I own a lawn maintenance company, and if you paid a worker $18/hour, a very middle class living, instead of $8 illegals are currently paid, that would work out to about $5 more every time your lawn is mowed, or about $175 a year. Hardly a disaster. Yet American fools pay many times more than that in taxes and increased medical costs due to their presence here and think they got a "great deal" on their lawn service which hires them. Fools.

And the funny thing is, now job outsourcing is beginning to affect the other, higher skilled segment of the population. The double whammy of this will destroy the economy. Did you know that China and India each produce over 3 million English speaking college graduates each year? Why do you think they're learning English? To take vacations here?
The bell tolls for you too, white collar guys.

Let's see....low wage service industry jobs go to immigrants, Medical jobs go to legal immigrants, high tech and customer service and production jobs go overseas. That leaves about 20% of the economy left. Enjoy competing for jobs folks.

Ann's whole point was that high paid workers in their own ignorance see no problem with this fiasco since they feel invulnerable to its effects (which they most certainly are not in the long run).

jimbo
I'd use my VACATION time to DRIVE the BUS! As long as my CCW is recognized from start to finish, I'd down with it.

And it's nothing new
Ann, have you been reading my blog? Actually, I'd me more than happy to have you read my blog - it's nice to find someone with a national platform who actually says the stuff the rest of us are thinking.

Busses
Ray Nagin has enough unused school busses in New Orleans to transport LOTS of illegals home.

The elected elite believe it's too expensive to deport them all? Tell you what; I'll personally sponsor removal of one entire family of illegals. Get rid of them all and my taxes and insurance should go down a measurable amount - I'll eventually make my money back.

How to Deport 20 million Illegals

.....PRINT OUT ...

step one ...deport one illegal alien family

step two ...repeat step one

step three ...loop steps one and two

.....END OF PRINTOUT

.....COLOSSUS

It's easy to be altruistic
Amen! This point has been a long time coming. Throw this into the face of every race card playing liberal you come across. Northeastern liberals get offended any time they see a new member at their country club that didn’t come from old money. Can you imagine the tantrum they’d have if it were their precious enclaves that were inundated with a bunch of illegal immigrants that can’t speak a lick of English? This issue is no different than school bussing in that liberals get to feel altruistic and compassionate while wrecking other people's communities.

Manpower
There is a great untapped resource of manpower who could assist in the roundup and deportation of these illegals.

The government could deputize any interested retired law enforcement and military personnel who would be willing to participate. I am certain that there are many!

These people could be assigned locally, within their own neighborhoods and coordinate with Feds.

Once these efforts started, many of the illigals would simply give up hiding and pack up and leave knowing that they are going to get caught.

This task can be done folks! Block by block, neighborhood by neighborhhod!

Bush?
My only question concerns why doesn't Ann rail on the traitorous Bush who is blood brother to Ted Kennedy. This is a Bush sponsored I bill.

The US Senate sells out

This is a letter sent to me about the immigration bill that Phil sent out in protest to lawmakers.

As a registered Republican who is also livid at the sell out being orchestrated by the traitors who call themselves representatives of the people. The US legislative branch has been disconnected from the electorate on the issue of illegal aliens and unlawful immigration for years. I had the pleasure of listening to Rep. Dana Rohrabacher on CSPAN last night where he went over the details of S 1348 with a critical eye. He and many like him can see this sell out for what it is. I am curious if the CofC and moneyed interests have influenced your judgment as they have many on the hill. If you spent some time with D.A. King of The Dustin Inman Society, I am sure that you will change your tune. Let's be honest. This is all about cheap labor and money being preferred over the American middle class and to further the integration of the USA with Mexico and Canada. What that happens America will no longer exist. I would hope that you would be able to see that. NAU, SPP, CAFTA, FTAA, LOST, etc. are obviously cogs in the wheel to establish the NWO. There is sufficient information in the public domain by the likes of Robert Pastor and his ilk at the CFR on the CFR web page, to make obvious to whomever wants to learn, our national sovereignty is being threatened and S 1348, if passed, would create a third world banana republic where the United States of America used to be. Wake up sir.

Ron Paul is the only one speaking the truth. Certainly not Saxby nor Johnny.

Regards,
Phil

Good point Lynne
The 1986 amnesty was based on the fact that the US "was unable to round up and deport" the 3 million illegal aliens then estimated inside its borders.

As I said before (on another page addressing the now-disguised amnesty), could someone please explain to me how the following could occur--with MUCH WORSE transportation systems than were THEN (let alone now) existing in US:
(1) during Partition, 7 million Muslims went from India to Pakistan and 6 million Hindus/Sikhs from Pakistan to India
(2) in 1971, over 10 million refugees went into India from East Pakistan (of which 9 million returned to their homes in newly-independent Bangladesh in 1972)

Till I get an answer to those questions, the idea that it is "impossible" to round up and deport the illegals from the US should be silenced!

the moronic Malou whines...
"I want the US to stop exploiting the rest of the world so that other places can have the chance to become as desireable and safe as the US advertises itself as being"...

Hmmm, US is exploiting the rest of the world, eh?

Are you merely delusional or does your abysmal ignorance come with a due date on it?

Libtards like Malou show us why taxes extorted from the productive to be spent on public education is money well wasted...

Say it AGAIN AND AGAIN......!
To TheEruditeEarlobe,

Welcome to AMERICA, and thank you for you and your families loyality to this country that has opened it's doors to you and all other LEGAl immigrants who applied and entered this country legally. You were not looked upon as a vote to be bought or as a cheap source of labor, but as a family that would contribute to the wealth of this ONCE great nation. I would like to apologize to you and all other LEGAL IMMIGRANTS who went throught the pain staking process of entering this country legally. I would also like to apologize for the corrupt government we now have governing this ONCE great nation.
It is sad to think that these so called leaders in Washington would work to sponser this type of legislation to ruin this great nation so that they can gather the votes they need to stay in office (TERM LIMITS NOW), and so that they and their biggest contributors to their campaigns for office can have their cheap labor. Again please accept my appologies for the way this government is slapping you in the face and the way they are treating you and all the other legal immigrants who worked hard to enter this country legally and have amde contributions to this country.
For all you PRO amnesty government officals out there who are supporting this legislation for AMNESTY for these ILLEGAL LAW BREAKING IMMIGRANTS, we are watching YOU very closely and will remember who you are and what you have done to conspire aginst the will of the people who put you in office to begin with. Prepare to reap the whirl-wind for your actions. Don't think the LEGAL voters of this nation will forget because we won't, I PROMISE you that.

DaveH
I agree. Deport the illegals and imprison the employers and all responsible for hiring them. A MANDATORY 5 YEARS per illegal! All will be relocated to farms to serve out their sentences in the fields. That way, we kill two birds with one stone! Ditch the illegals and STILL have someone to harvest crops.

For the libs
I know that you whiny limp noodles will start showing up around noon when you roll out of the rack, so here is something for you to examine before you try and rebut Ann.

want to get involved?
Ann... I do not always agree with your irreverent candor, but you are speaking inconvenient and necessary truths here!

Scamnesty: The Ultimate Largesse

Be afraid-- be VERY AFRAID! Congress, pushed relentlessly by the Conpiracy Of Evil, is poised to create a path to Scamnesty for 12-20 million ILLEGAL aliens. With "chain migration," that will mean MANY MORE millions of indigent poor-- and the permanent morphing of America into an entitlement government welfare state. The public trough will become a voracious, inexorable black hole devouring all that has made America great as we morph into a bilingual barrio.

If you listen to the pro-ILLEGAL alien arguments by members of the Conspiracy Of Evil, they are like low-hangin' fruit to refute... let's demythologize a couple of the most unctuous:

1) Disingenuous premises:
The "undocumented workers" are generally hard working, good people who simply want to feed their families and do those jobs that Americans won't do that America must have done... on balance, they give America more than they take... indeed, we MUST have their labors.

Reality Check:
ILLEGALS are too often both poor and undereducated-- a formula for socio-economic DISASTER if they are allowed to naturalize. We are simply allowing corrupt Mexico to dump its welfare problems on America. ILLEGALS drive down wages, and they ARE taking good jobs-- America does not save at all! A relative few hoteliers, contractors, meat processors, and other law-breaking employers milk them for lesser wages, then the TAXPAYERS GET STUCK with the crimes, barrio blight, drugs, gangs, sullied schools, ethnocentricity, and welfare costs. Bilingual education is a scam and an abysmal failure. ILLEGALS are at least 3x as likely as legal residents to be incarcerated for serious crimes:

http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2006/3/27/114208.shtml
http://www.theamericanresistance.com/articles/art2004jan04.html
http://www.amren.com/Reports/Hispanics/HispanicsReport.htm

2) We should respect their "rights" and put those who have a job on a path to citizenship and require the payment of back taxes, learning English, and paying a $2,000 fine. They have a right to come here because "our immigration system is broken."

Truth Check--
HOGWASH! We owe them NOTHING! NO THING! It is NOT our immigration system which is broken-- it is the nonfeasance of the national pols to enforce existing laws which has precipitated this crisis. We need to require a tamper-proof I.D. card ASAP for ANY non-citizen to function here period-- to work, get a license, attend school, rent an apt., pass go, etc. They will not really build the wall or otherwise crack down on employers-- the I.D. card radiates the cancer at its starting point. Make ILLEGALS repatriate to apply for it, then vet them thoroughly to see who might come back on an INTERIM basis to work.

There should be NO CONNECTION WHATSOEVER between having been here ILLEGALLY and later gaining citizenship. Token fines and back taxes are a farce! Some would charge them a $2,000 fee when their ANNUAL cost to taxpayers (per Heritage) will be $22k just in net govt. services used alone for a family headed by an uneducated, poor ILLEGAL?!?!

Why is this such a vexing problem? Because different powerful users with ulterior agendas salivate over ILLEGALS --> the PC "elite" left sees poor, malleable voters (40 acres and a mule redux) who will assure big entitlement government for the Big Brother elites to control; miscreant employers see cheap labor that the taxpayers are forced to subsidize; the scandal-plagued Catholic Church sees replacement contributors; self-serving national pols see hispanic votes in key states; the well-heeled like their cheap domestic help-- and THEIR children will not have their private schools ruined by them; finally the latino groups quite simply indubitably seek the Reconquista-- the morphing of America into Mexicomerica.

Middle America MUST unite and stop Scamnesty which is again pending in Congress. You can learn more and/or get involved to save America at the sites below. First, an easy way to reach the OFFICIAL contact info for your Senators and Representatives to oppose the pending Scamnesty Bills:

http://www.congressmerge.com/onlinedb/index.htm

BOOKMARK IT AND BARK AT THEM OFTEN! It IS EASY-- just a few clicks!!!

Some say that it does no good to contact Congress... don't believe it! Middle Americans like you derailed Kennedy-McQuisling Scamnesty in the House last year! Congressman Peter King said he had NEVER seen such a revolt in the heartland in his many years in congress. BUT the Conspiracy Of Evil is determined to cram ILLEGALS down America's throats, so we MUST BE RELENTLESS in expressing our righteous indignation to stop Scamnesty. We won the first battle, but we MUST NOT LOSE THE WAR! Congressional staffers track the feedback... I get letters and e-mails back from Congresspersons who do not even represent me addressing my specific concerns. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Other good sites are below... the first one is GREAT -- a well-organized group trying to save America from myopia... it has prepared e-mails addressing proposed legislation you can customize and/or just send to your elected representatives!:

FOLKS, THE VERY SURVIVAL OF THE AMERICAN HERITAGE, RULE OF LAW, CULTURE, COMMON LANGUAGE, SOCIO-ECONOMIC STABILITY-- INDEED THE AMERICAN WAY IF LIFE ITSELF-- ARE IN DIRE JEOPARDY!

That "cheap" labor is nothing of the sort! Per Heritage, EACH household headed by an undereducated, ILLEGAL alien will cost taxpayers $22k a year in deficit taxes versus services used alone! And that is just the tip of the iceberg of their total costs (crime control, enervated schools, balkanized barrios)! GET INVOLVED TO STOP THE INVASION NOW FOLKS-- BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE! AMERICA WOULD BE A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE!

To Liberty
Probably for the same reason that 56 RINOs voted for it with their Democrap brethren.

Goota Love it
Ann drags those frothing barking liberal moonbats out into the open. Now if we only could get hunting licenses...

While we're waiting for THAT to happen, swing by my blog for several motivating articles including a comparison of a right-wing youth vice a lefturd one.

Eisenhower
Eisenhower found and deported over 1 million illegals long before computer databases existed to track them. Our leaders don't have the guts and most conservative republican talking heads on tv are in favor of amnesty for their landscapers, maids, laborors and servants - LIBERALS ARE OUT TO DESTROY THE REPUBLICAN PARTY with this bill. Sorry Ann you got it wrong but your on the right track (of course).

Vic
I wonder why Hunter abstained?

funny part
The funny part is listening to the media and the washington crowd (pundits and pols) say that if your against this your a racist. Also as ann said they argue that people against this expect 12 million ( or whatever) to be deported. When illegals are pulled over - no licence - no reg - maybe drinking , and all they have to do is speak spainish and they are let go because most small towns dont have interpreters. I see a big problem. As i understand it 25 people a day in the usa are killed by illegals in some way or another. Lets not bring that up though.

How do you explain "Cheap Labor".
It is this simple:
1. An American Worker has to earn $40 /Hour to get him and his family by.
2. Illegals earn $10/hour--under the table, off the books. NO taxes or Health Care Insurance premiums are withheld.

3. OBviously, there is a $30 / hour difference.
Who pays that?
YOU DO. The Good Old American Sucker/TAXPAYER.

4. CONCLUSION:
Cheap Labor means unethical employers, who put profit ahead of Country, are given an UNWRITTEN, NEVER PASSED TAXPAYER-FUNDED SUBSIDY

Imagine....
Millions of citizens who wrote their elected officials telling them they would no longer file an income tax return if amnesty is given...and living up to their words.

Imagine millions of loyal american that were willing to endure the personal sacrifice and possible imprisonment if our elected officials voted for any proposal other than deportation and enforcement of existing laws.

Gandi and Dr. King taught us that peaceful, non-violent demonstration and personal sacrifice is what it takes to effect political change. I ask you, is it any wonder that the only voices being heard are those that are marching in the streets, demanding what they are not entitled to?

Unfortunatley, most citizens would rather take on the role of "the armchair quarterback", posting meaningless drival in a virtual arena, rather than standing up for our nation and our future generations.

Publicly state that you will no longer file an income tax return, send it to congress, the house, your local rep's and then pass your message along.

Finally - Stick to it and not file - and be willing to defend yourself in a court of law.

Where are our Patrick Henry's of the day?

To ALL
Remember the George Will column on the Democrap legislation for price gouging. Well while your attention was directed towards the illegal alien issue, the communists passed that bill in the House. Below is the original column and the list of who voted for it.
