Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

In the past week, there are 476 documents on Nexis heralding the magnificent achievement of Nancy Pelosi becoming the FIRST WOMAN speaker of the House.

I thought we had moved beyond such multicultural milestones.

The media yawned when Condoleezza Rice became the first black woman secretary of state (and when Lincoln Chaffee became the first developmentally disabled senator).

There were only 77 documents noting that Rice was the first black woman to be the secretary of state, and half of them were issues of Jet, Essence, Ebony or Black Entrepreneur magazine.

A New York Times profile of Rice at the time waited until the last sentence to note in passing that Rice was "only the second woman, and the first black woman, to hold the job." (In a separate column by me, it was noted that Rice was the "first competent woman" to hold the job.)

Not everyone ignored Secretary Rice's achievement. Gore's campaign manager, Donna Brazile -- the last black person to hold a prominent role in any Democratic presidential campaign -- told Newsweek that when she watched President Bush nominate Rice, "I had chills up and down my spine." Brazile said: "I never thought in my lifetime I'd see an African-American woman being nominated as secretary of state. George Bush made that happen."

On MSNBC's "Hardball," even Al Sharpton said of Rice's appointment, "I don't think you can sneeze at the fact that she has made a tremendous achievement as the first black woman in history to be a State Department head."

Rice was not the first black secretary of state because Bush had already made Colin Powell the first black secretary of state. That was back during Bush's first term, when Rice was the first female national security adviser.

Bush also named Alberto Gonzales the first Hispanic attorney general. He made an Arab-American, Spencer Abraham, secretary of energy; a Cuban-American, Carlos Gutierrez, secretary of commerce; an Asian-American, Elaine Chao, secretary of labor; and a retarded-American, Norman Mineta, secretary of transportation. It was as if Mariah Carey and Tiger Woods had children and they all joined the Bush Cabinet.

The whole place has been lousy with women since the first Bush term, including Gale Ann Norton, secretary of the interior, Ann Veneman, secretary of agriculture, and Margaret Spellings, secretary of education. For a while there, it looked as if Bush might become the first president whose entire Cabinet's menstrual cycles were synchronized.

In a rare article taking note of Bush's "Benetton-ad presidency," Time magazine's Joe Klein said of Bush's second-term appointments: "It took Bush a month before he named a standard-issue white male."

By contrast, John Kerry hired only white males for top positions in his presidential campaign, a fact so embarrassing that even the media eventually took notice. In Kerry's defense, almost all of his and Teresa's domestic servants appear to have been people of color, although we still don't have a final head count on the place in Aspen.

But when Nancy Pelosi -- another Democrat who married a multimillionaire -- achieves the minor distinction of becoming the first female speaker of the House, The New York Times acts like she's invented cold fusion.

There were two major articles breathlessly reporting Pelosi's magnificent achievement as first female speaker and an op-ed by Bob Herbert, titled "Ms. Speaker and Other Trends." Beatifying Pelosi as "the most powerful woman ever to sit in Congress," Herbert began: "Sometimes you can actually feel the winds of history blowing." There was a major Times profile of Pelosi, gushing that Pelosi was "on the brink of becoming the first female speaker." (Isn't she just the most independent little gal?)

So in addition to bringing back a cut-and-run national security strategy, tax-and-spend domestic policy and a no-enforcement immigration policy, the new Democratic Congress is apparently ushering in a return to feminist milestones.

I warned you people about what might happen if "Take Your Daughter to Work Day" ever caught on, and now you've got no one but yourselves to blame. Happy now?

Looks like George Bush can pick a team
Stop by my blog and check out the article: Some Thoughts on Diversity. It dovetails with this pretty well.

BTW, Will the MSM ask Pelosi why she refuses to use unionized labor at her winery, hotel, and other business holdings? I thought Dems were pro-organized labor.

News
Its only news if it is out of the norm.

An RX for post election syndrome
TY Ann, for just the right comment to chase my depression following the election. "...synchronized menstrual cycles"

A Republican majority in both houses of Congress acted like liberal Democrats; in the election campaign, the Democrats acted like Conservatives, and on election day, Conservatives voted to elect Democrats. ( for the sake of change, just so we can preserve some logic.)

Conned by their own rhetoric, and using their own words and values against them, Conservatives, values voters, evangelical Christians and anti-Christian libertarians were duped into voting for upside down values that do not apply to liberal left Democrats.

Gullible, morally weak Conservatives cannot be expected to successfully defend Conservative values in the future. Liberal extremists, socialists, and a left wing media, will purge Conservative ideas as a factor of political discourse. And, without leadership, there is not much anyone can do to stop it.

It is a topsy turvy world that presents a dangerous time for America because of the good, though gullible people who did nothing, or the wrong thing, about it. The question now is, will Conservatives walk out once again while what they believe is destroyed and replaced by an unimpeded Left?

Many things are not right with the world, and it's not just political; it is spiritual.

I need another dose Ann's column for PES.

Correction:

It is only news if it paints a Democrat in a positive light or casts a Republican in a negative one.

As Ms. Coulter illustrated in her column, media bias has been around the duration of President Bush's term. Here she points out how in the case of a Republican, milestone after milestone is glossed over, while for a Democrat the teentsy weentsiest little step is cause for major celebration, crack open the champagne the winds of change are a'blowing press blather.

Most folks don't know about all the stuff Bush did to advance and appoint minorities in his staff. They also don't hear about the blatant hypocrisy of the left or their racist tendencies in selecting their personell. Of course the moment the left does something rediculously minor that only by chance hasn't been done before everyone knows about it. You can thank the press for this.

Ann and Bill
Amen!

Black President
As I recall we've already had a black president so Barak need not apply for that job!

Ann, thanks for reminding us that Mr Bush provided a more inclusive cabinet than any of his predecessor from the so-called diversity party.

Ann - MSM's Duplicity Not Surprising

The MSM were so desperate to promote their Party’s purported advancement of race during the last Presidency they had to resort to referring to Clinton as the “First Black President.” I suppose, in future years, when Republicans put an actual man or woman of color in the Whitehouse for the first time, there will be historically challenged nitwits pointing back to Bubba, daring us to prove otherwise.

Oreos
Another comment: the MSM doesn't really consider Bush's appointments as "people of color" since they were all conservative. These conservative (yes, I know that all weren't conservative but compared to the liberal press...) of color are really oreos--they may be black (or brown or yellow) but their all white on the inside so they don't really count! It is only when a Democrat appoints them that they are truly minorities.

Speaking of race firsts...
...if Bill Clinton was supposedly "the first black President" are we allowed to claim that George W. Bush is the first Jewish President?

Black President
Colosteve: I believe you have that wrong. Bill Clinton was what my Grandmother would call our first "White Trash" president.

Until Pelosi opens her mouth
The media can prop up Pelsoi all they want. They do this so when she speaks, all the praise as the first woman Speaker of the House will somehow erase the stupidity that follows her statements. Pelsoi isn't known for making rational statements. I can just read and hear it on the liberal networks. A new day is coming. Wow, what words. Soon, the media will be comparing her to a female Winston Churchill. We know why Pelsoi is going to be voted in as Speaker of the House. To begin with, if loan shark Pelosi didn't get the votes, she might call in some of those loans she made to some of the Democrats. Pelsoi's in and it's not because of what's between he ears. Her ideology makes her the perfect woman Speaker of the House. Now, if she can just learn to do her job without uttering a word, she'll do fine.

"Sometimes you can actually feel the
winds of history blowing."

I'm not sure, but that may have been a wind of another sort blowing.

O Kimberly
Kimberly, I’ve found just the place for you, Philo (whatever) etc. It’s the Portland independent media center. Here’s the link: http://portland.indymedia.org/.

You will fit right in.

Better yet, move to Portland. Many years ago I passed through the City of Roses on my way to Washington State. It was very nice. But since then, its turned into, for lack of a better discription, a political sewar.

Oops
More at, a far left wing political sewar!

Wow, we're progressive now!
The problems facing this country will far outlive the novelty of a new/first demographic in a position of power.

So Nancy's the first female Speaker. So what? What will she do in her position that makes her different from anybody else who held the job? Nothing! How will her gender affect her decision-making or policy? It won't!

I could care less what a politician is. In the big scheme of things, it just doesn't matter! If they can do what needs done, who cares about gender?

The more I see "progressivism" advocates in action, the more I see progressivism as nothing but superficial, novel concepts that bear little resemblance or relevance to reality.

Appologies to that charge card company
Liberals appointing females and people of color to top positions - Inclusion (but it you check, it rarely happens)
Conservatives appointing females and people of color to top positions - Tokenism
The MSM glossing over this fact - Priceless.

Conservatives Conned??
Bill,
It sounds like you are suggesting that Conservatives should have voted for Republicans despite their abysmal record these last 4 years, or so:
signing a law restricting freedom of speech;
ballooning federal spending (earmarks);
Increasing the Education bureaucracy;
new entitlements no one was calling for (except drug companies);
lax border enforcement;
corruption scandals;
and, yes, poor Iraq planning and not winning.

I hope you're not saying that Conservatives should become wards of the Republicans, a reliable voting block that can be abused and ignored the way Dems do blacks. Politicians of both parties need to see that conservatives will vote for whoever promises conservative values, especially when actions are found so wanting. Without "tossing the bums out" now and then, Converatism will never get the respect it deserves.

Republicans deserved to lose this time around. But, the Dems did not deserve to win. Would that there would be some other choice to vote for....

I Have Not Laughed Like That In Awhile
My favorite parts were the menstrual cycle synhronization, the retarded american, and the Heinz family's colored servants comment, in descending order.

Someone should tell the journalist to smell the winds of change. If he does so, he'll be able to trace it to the other side of the building where Hillary Clinton's @$$ has just filibustered.

Funny!
Funny column. The only problem, of course, is that the position of Speaker of the House is a far greater achievement than Secretary of State or Agriculture. Pelosi has, in fact achieved the highest political position yet for a woman. Newsworthy anyway you look at it, and hardly "minor."

Coulter would do better by doing a little soul searching and laying off liberal bashing for a while. (I guess she hasn't made enough money off of Bill Clinton. News flash... he left office six years ago. News flash... The Dems have elected far more women and blacks than the GOP. Does that mean anything?)

The winds of history are blowing --
or do I mean the gases? At, the hot air of history is bloviating. But I might be small minded and mean spirited.

http://forgottenprophets.blogspot.com/2006/11/who-are-these-people.html

See?

On the other hand, even a poisonous ideologue such as myself has gentle moments.

http://forgottenprophets.blogspot.com/2006/11/shining.html

But when we look at the issue without emotion, harsh or gentle, we find the cold demand for competence, rather than precedence. Is Ms. Pelosi the best man for the job? She certainly has mastered the techniques of invective. Wasn't it she who said Mr. Bush was Alfred E. Newman? Or was that Hillary? Same guy, practically.

No point. Just wanted to vent. Vent my winds of history.

I don't know the statistics on women, but saying that the Dumocrats have elected more blacks than the GOP is like saying the Dumocrats have elected more Dumocrats than the GOP. If 90% of blacks are Dumocrats and only 10% are GOP then unless the Dumocrats have elected more than 9 TIMES as many blacks as the GOP then they haven't done ANYTHING SPECIAL. If they HAVEN'T elected MORE than 9 times as many blacks, then they have NOTHING to brag about and they should be ASHAMED.

I've noted
The preponderance of voting in the last congress by the Democrats bears a resemblance to the boarding house effect that Ann noted in her column. We'll have to see if Pelosi's influence can continue such a rhythm, getting things quickly flowing to the left, especially.

red_nc
We conservatives found ourselves "between a rock and a hard place" in the recent election. The Republicans in power let us down, big time. While they taxed us, they did not respresentative us.

No, we cannot, should not let the Republican party take our loyalty for granted. And I agree that conservatives will vote for whoever promises conservatives values.

Therein lies the rub. Of the two major parties, while Republicans behaved like liberals, Democrats ARE liberal! They are the antithesis of conservative values.

I'm more convinced than ever that this country needs to get beyond the two-party system, that is, if the Muslims don't take us over first.

For those who care, I ended up voting straight Republican on Nov. 7, though I seriously considered not voting, or voting for the Democrats, which in either case amounted to: "Throw the bums out".

Harmony
I voted straight R's too except for RINOs... I HATE RINO's! I voted libertarian as a protest against the Governator.

I'm Not Feeling Well
I'm trying so hard to think of spiffy things to say about Pelosi, but just saying her name makes me ill.

Thinking about how she's going to screw it up for women in leadership is close to making me retch.

I have every admiration for Bush and his selection of Condoleezza Rice and the other qualified people for his cabinet and the courts. (I feel better, now, thank you.)

Bill is off-base...
...suggesting as he does that GOP losses should be laid at the doorstep of "morally-weak" conservative voters. GOP losses are due to morally-weak GOP incumbants who were held to account by morally-upright conservatives who said what they meant and did what they said they would. GOP incumbents were told in no uncertain terms what they could expect as the consequence of their own actions if they did not get right with their consevative principals and they base that were promised them.

But they didn't, and so many of them are out, and now its time to move on to something that is relevant, like rebuiding the party into something that conservative voters can support without looking like a bunch of unprincipalled sellouts.

word derivation of "lame duck"
The fourth Duke of Orly (Henri d'Orly, best known for a raid on the village of a young Joan of Arc) was so deeply despised by his subjects that they instinctively rejected any overseers who found favor in his eyes. Over time, the phrase "Le duc l'aime (The Duke loves him)" became a designation for public officials who no longer had the confidence of their constituents. This has survived to become "L'aime duc", or in its present form,The Duke of Orly is also commemorated in the hit song "Duke of Earl".

Tigerrick
Don't leave out Radical Communist Jews.

Bill
If the problem is spiritual and not political, how will voting for RINOs solve it?

Keep it up Ann
Stick their hypocracy right in their face for all to see. Lord knows the MSM are absent in the fairness department. How is it that when Republicans are caught in a scandle, they (rightly) resign and are excorciated by their own party, but when a Demon-crat does the same, they make them their leaders?

red_nc
So let's see if I understand you:
instead of choosing the lesser of two evils, you chose the greater of two evils?
Hmmmm.....perhaps we should be grateful that you've gone to your true liberal calling.
That's one of the advantages of this past election: it allows us to see people as they really are.

Ann, Once again, You crack me up!
Ann,
The article was very funny and yet sad. It is a sad state of affairs now. Evey time I think of the words Speaker & Pelosi in the same sentence I get chills. Not good ones either.
I agree that the Rinos BLEW IT big time spending our tax dollars on pork like a bunch of drunken sailors on leave in the Fillipines. Even that analogy is not fair to our hard working Navy Seamen and Waves.
I admit I voted straight GOP except for a local councilman race. In agreement with a previous blogger, I can distinguish GOP Conservatives wearing a moderate halloween masks from Liberals wearing complete conservative costumes. We know liberals do not represent American values, so why elect them to punish errant conservatives?
Now they are talking about making Cut & Run Murtha the Senate Majority Leader? What next?
I don't even want to think about. My head hurts.

A lot of good it did
I can just picture George W. surrounded by women, Hispanics, et al as he hoisted more than his share of tequillas in college. Prehaps he wanted to recreate that thrilling atmosphere when he moved his "party" into the white house. The problem is that he should have found people with pratical and formal experience. This way instead of being so thankful to him for making them the first this or that, which only put them in awe of him, that they could have actually advised him. Maybe then he wouldn't have spent money like a drunken college student on spring break (another old habit?)and his closest advisors would have actual say "NO" to him as they should have to a number of blunders. He should have probably hired his father and mother since it's clear now that they are the only ones that can lead him to Lake Clear Thinking. The road to obscurity is paved with good intentions and his team, the "DC Diversities", will go down as one of the most diverse AND obscure in history. Great job W.

..."We were lied to"
I also voted straight Republican, because I could not in any way shape or form vote for a Democrat ever!! (use too, never again, saw the light)

Who in their right mind could have ever believed that a Dumocrat wrapped in Conservative attire lieing about values he/she doesn't even understand yet alone profess to follow, could be anything but a Dumocrat, is beyond me.

They will ALL "follow the leader" Pelosi, Reid Schumer etc. in their voting and the Conservatives who thought otherwise ( w/voting for them ) was "lied to". Republicans may have failed us in ways, but a Democratic House & Senate was too extreme of an answer, now we'll all pay the price..Bizarro world, upside down thinking.

And yes it was also spiritual, but a bad spirit!!

What? Pelosi's NOT middle class?
Lawdy,
Ann just blew Dominatrix of the House of Ill-Repute-elect Grandma Pelosi's class status cover.

What's this, Nancy Nice married a "multi-millionaire?" So much for her storied mom of five turns forty, has a midlife crisis and takes it out on the rest of the country (all the while carrying on as she's like the "rest of us" MYTH.

Gee Ann, you could've spared me this one, after the Easter Bunny, Santa, Parson Weems'tales of the original W, etc.

I guess I'll just have to gather the family around the tube, especially my two daughters in their late teens, just when Oprah pops up on the boob tube. Maybe they can help me recover. Sniff, sniff, sniff

Heck no, I'm gonna turn on iTunes to hear some real women sing the real blues on the classical channels. Unlike Nancy, these babes didn't marry their way to the top. They paid their dues.

If Bill Clinton was Our 1st Black Prez
the upcoming "Amnesty Love Fest" with Red Nancy will validate Jorge Bush is our first Hispanic President.

He will long be remembered in the Mexican comic books handed out at the border to future generations of illegals.

His name will be celebrated in all future Cinco de Mayo festivals throughout the Republica del Norde, formerly known as California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.....oh, and part of Colorado.

Viva Jorge!

Warrior
Warrior, stop it with the "Communist Jews" already. I know you claim a lack of antisemitism, but every time you feel obligated to make a special mention of those "Commie Jews", you bring just a tiny hint of Hitler to this board. You don't feel the need to point out the left-leaning tendencies among Catholics (and thanks to "liberation theology" there is an alarming leftward slant among the progressive Catholic clergy), or the far-left agenda of many Episcopalians, so why do Jews merit a special mention all their own?

By the way, a few days ago you also posted "left-wing whites and Jews". I need to correct this. European jews are by and large, white. The only ones who seem to think otherwise are neo-Nazi's and the "Christian Identity" movement and it's skinhead hangers-on. So, a bit disturbing that you feel the need to separate Jews from "whites" as well.

Lastly, I don't know if I buy your "I am not an anti-semite" claims after I saw you defending the possible validity of the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion a week or two ago. I am beginning to pbelieve that, no matter what your claim, you may have a pillow case with a few extra eye-holes.

Disclosure
Ok, just to set Warrior's jewish conspiracy bells chiming... I am Jewish. But I am also a registered Republican with mixed conservative/libertarian beliefs. And, no, I do not get the newletter where we discuss taking over the world, and warn one another not to go to the WTC on 9/11, so I can't tell you what the next step is in our evil schemes.

And, yes, the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion IS A FORGERY. You seemed unconvinced last time I argued this point.

By the way, I also have to add "fluoridation is completely harmless, and not a plot by we commie Jews to sap and impurify all of your precious bodily fluids."

pelosis promise
"The gavel of the speaker of the House is in the hands of special interests, and now it will be in the hands of America's children"

-Nancy Pelosi

And so it is...

Is Nancy married to a multi-millionaire?
It is always so much easier to pass responsibility on those who "should bear more taxation"...the middle class...while their backs are breaking...Whilst you are sitting high up on the tufted cushioned seat of a rich man's money
Nancy...keep letting the illegals pour through our borders, let them bring in tuberculosis, chagis disease, bedbugs, crime, drugs and gangs, and make certain that you explain to the middle class of our responsilbiity to foot all of the bills..After-all...we are the "backbone" of America....Break our backs Nancy...and then sit your bottom down on your tufted cushion...your bedbug free tufted cushion.....actually the same can be said of George Bush...So who is going to lead us in 2008 !!! Give me some hope please ..

A book with some revelations
on San Fran Nan is "Do As I Say - Profiles in Liberal Hypocracy". Nancy has a chapter all to herself. Since she's the Speaker of the House, maybe it should be required reading.

BIGbelly HAS A POINT
GWB may have a diverse cabinet, positions given without consideration of race, creed, sex or national origin. So if his appointment were so darn good, how has just about everything imaginable gone into the dumper during his six years in office? Images of People standing on rooftops and crammed inside the Super Dome for days and days waiting for the President of the United States of America to do something. Not a very good representation of a well functioning cabinet.

As we all know, the only reason that Pelosi has been splattered all over the MSM is because the MSM is controlled by the Jews, and the Jews are simply helping themselves and their party by doing so. When it comes to releasing propaganda that supports their party, the business on the left corner is way ahead of the business on the right side of the street. The question is, why do the store keepers on the right corner continue to sit on their hands and not figure out a way to give the store across the street more competition when it comes to self promotion?

I have a dream!
The Republican's have embraced this dream of MLK, to judge an individual for his/her character not the color of their skin.
When will the Democrats turn from their racist ways and stop judging people by their skin color and embrace this dream?

Huh?
"As we all know, the only reason that Pelosi has been splattered all over the MSM is because the MSM is controlled by the Jews, and the Jews are simply helping themselves and their party by doing so. "

Whoa! I start off criticizing Warrior for feeling the need to make special mention of Jews in every post and now I get this?

I am a conservative, Republican Jew, and have spent a lof of effort convincing liberals that they are wrong to claim the right wing is antisemitic and racist. And then this comes along? What is going on?

Ok, guys, this is getting a bit disturbing. Show of hands, how many of you want to shove me into an oven? (Along with Krauthammer, Jeff Jacoby, and all those other "commie Jews" on this site)

To ed-NC
First of all, my criticism is of unthinking Conservatives, not encouragement of lockstep Republicanism. Conservatives did their part to help elect a Democrat Congress by casting their vote for change or by throwing in the towel and not voting at all.
My plea to Conservatives was to resolve to turn out in great numbers to support and vote for any candidate who stands for Conservative principles and who values our freedom, our traditional culture, our way of life. That could not be done by quitting the game. The alternative is to be governed by Liberal Left extremists who will lead us closer to Socialism, make us weaker in defense against Islamic terrorism and purge conservative ideas as a factor of political discourse.
But, I say again, Conservatives were conned by Democrats who only SAY they are Conservative. We were abused---by Democrats who know how better than anyone.
Think. When Conservatives voted for Democrats, did they want a radicalized, over-regulated, socialist America where the Constitution and freedom of speech are squelched? Did they want to be governed by people who constantly stream hate, anger. bitter controversy and argument?
Now that Conservatives do not have a majority to appeal to, where do they go? To the Democrat leadership? Will they listen to you, consider your case, or even care what you think if you are not even their constituent or at least a Democrat?
In “throwing out the bums” , the Conservative voter miscue also threw out some good Conservative people.
We certainly agree that Republicanism let us down in acting like liberal Democrats and deserved the boot, but now, for the sake of change, we have little or no leverage to advance Conservative principles. Bad for America.

tigerrick
You miss part of Ann's point. There is a big difference between who is elected and who is appointed by leadership. Democrats preach diversity to us, but when they themselves have a chance to practice their preaching on diversity, they are sorely lacking. So it is OK for minority democrats to be elected, just don't bother the dem leadership with actually giving them positions of power.

John Kerry-no blacks on his presidential campaign. Al Franken not seeing his way to hiring blacks when he has had a chance-less than 1%. Stop the hypocrisy. Conservatives look at everyone as individuals who will succedd or fail on their own merit. Democrats patronize minorities and hypocritically do not promote or hire them when given the chance.

Voting the Dems in...
or the GOP out...

The DCC leadership did a great job of recruiting moderate to even conservative Dems to run against Reps who were especially vulnerable (either they themselves or due to the taint of issues like the pork spending, Foley, etc.) And it was these people, for the most part, who won. I did not know that there were so many NRA Democrats who supported abortion restrictions! :-) Now lets see if these "Blue Dog" (or in the past many were known as Reagan) Democrats vote strictly the party line on issues they supposedly disagree with or will they vote their "concience"--yeah, right!

Remember, in most districts Reps do not hold a majority of registered voters (many with a plurality though) and no states are like that. So in order for a GOP candidate to win we have to also get enough of the "independents" to vote GOP. Also, something lost on the MSM, out of the 435 house seats, only 30 changed hands. While not an insignificant amount, it would hardly qualify as saying that Americans support everything that Pelosi, Conyers, Frank, et al. want.

A bit over the top
Ok, my last sentence int he last post was over the top, but getting tired of "Jewish conspiracy" talk. We run the media, we are behind the Dems, etc.

First, Jews are far from monlithic. If there are a majority of left-leaning Jews, there are a majority of Democrat supporters among several Christian denominations that no one ever feels the need to emphasize. Only jews.

Second, we do not get together and plan things. So even if there were a majority of Jews in entertainment, that is no more significant than there being a majority of blondes in cheerleading. No one worries about "blondes controll cheerleading", yet they see jews in the emdia and think we get together nd conspire to push the country left.

Third, the media is hardly jew-friendly. Look at the treatment of Israel in general. look at the characterizations of the JDL and Meier Kahane (admittedly, a bit extreme, but if the media was so pro-Jewish, you think the JDL would get a pass).

Lastly, many Jews, especially among the orthodox, are much more right-leaning than this theory of "commie jews" would suggest.

Just wanted to moderate my last post and adopt a slightly less strident tone.

Hazzards past and future
Condi is so great? Bush says, there is no reason to have a cease fire in Lebanon if Hezbollah will not lay down their weapons. What does Condi do? Negotiates a cease fire that not only fails to get Hezbollah to disarm but does not recover the Israeli solders. Hezbollah, Syria, and Iran were handed a clear victory. Then she goes and talks to the Chinese and they put pressure on North Korea. Good move but now she are railing on North Korea again. She has no credibility of course and neither does Bush.

Nancy is just as bad except she presents a problem when it comes to immigration. Bush and Pelosi will open the borders. Together they will grant some form of easy citizenship (test in native language about the government of origin. not in English about the US because that would be discriminatory) and now that Bush wants a far east equivalent of NAFTA we can welcome the Radical Islamists from the Phillipeans with open arms. We can do a citizenship test on the Koran.

I notice Bush has not used his comment on minority members of his cabinet and else wise as being 'talented'. It betrayed his bigotry and maybe Condi corrected him. Jeb used 'talented' in his efforts to fix discrimination in Floria higher education. Bush is too incompetent to pull off his attempts at concealing his empty gestures.

Note the real problem here is Bush. Gender has nothing to do with it.

Republican Parrots?
Donaldd, you want to see parrots? Wait until Miz Pelosi starts cracking the whip on those blue dog Democrats. You'll see their "conservative" patina vanish pretty swiftly as they fall in line with the Pelosi-Conyers-RangelWaxman far-left line.

To Bipsy-Quee

Nice opening. Thank you.

Politics will never define who we are, our worth, or the values we live by.
Rather than answer your question with direct Biblical quotes, I’ll do it the indirect way by quoting someone else.

“.......morality exists outside our egotistical, materialistic, fickle megalomaniacal Hillary Clinton, Barbara Boxer,Conin Farrell, Paris Hilton selves. These rules are decreed by a legislator whose opinions are not subject to appeal by the ACLU. We can't discover penumbras that will suddenly allow us to endorse genocide, sex with animals, gay marriage, strip clubs, premarital sex or whatever the latest liberal fad is. The truth is the truth whether we like it or not. While secularists are constantly comparing conservative Christians to Nazis, somehow it’’s always the godless doing the genocides.

Full of pelosi!
While there may be something to this "FIRST WOMAN speaker of the House", I will always embrace Nancy Pelosi's first distinction;
FIRST SEA-HAG VOTED INTO CONGRESS!

Just Curious

.....Everyone seems to be complaining about how the RINO's screwed up the Republican Party...

Question: Who voted those RINO's into office?

.....COLOSSUS

Poor Andrews
There must be something wrong with my computer- I am not getting the comments being made to Andrews critising him and his Jewishnish. So you are a jewish conservative, so what! do you want a medal? So you think you are sounding more moderate with you last post? I think you are sounding like a pathetic whiner.

Condi vs the Frisco Liberal Threat
Donaldd writes "how many obediant wives does George have." I would guess fewer than the number of raped and molested women Slick Willy has in his past....

And, according to Donaldd, it takes a "yes sir Attitude" to be in the Bush Cabinet. Could someone please remind me how many in the Clinton Cabinet publicly denounced Clinton for that Lewinsky hummer he got in the oral orifice, uh...I mean the oval office???? How proud Chelsea must be!!!!

Lastly, Donaldd says, "Nancy Pelosi isn't one of George's tag along "wives" who will mouth his words as if they were gospel." You are right about that, Donaldd. Pelosi will mouth off about how a Democrat woman will clean up Congress, then she will back good ol' John "I won't take your ABSCAM bribe...at this point" Murtha and Charlie "who the hell wants to live in Mississippi" Rangel. The ink isn't even dry on the election, and she's already showing her true colors.

Condi would have a heck of a backing if she were to run for President. If "Rice" Pelosi, the San Francisco Threat, ever decided to run, she wouldn't even get out of the Frisco city limits before the rest of the country would be howling their opposition.

Andrew
Hate to say it, but there is no one more thick skulled or paranoid than those folks convinced of a Jewish cabal. To try to reason with these guys is a waste of time. Apparently, they've never read Dennis Prager's brilliant series on why jews tend to be liberal, why they tend to be secular, and why they tend to in fact NOT be universal in their thinking or actions.

It is much like the left's suspicions about how Evangelicakl Christians want to somehow form this united Christian theocracy, when in fact, anyone who's been a Christian for 20 minutes knows that churches will split over the color of the carpet in the sanctuary or whether Adam had a navel or not. Perhaps this is why there are over 200 hundred Christian denomonations and splinter groups.Forget about being organized enough to take over a country. Likewise with Jews, who have even less a reason to band together than do Christians, as unlike Christianity, it is possible to be jewish by birth without having any faith in a diety at all. And finally, like Christians, jews do not make good blind followers of leaders, nor do they seem to need them. Just read the book of Exodus and look what poor Moses went through if anyone needs confirmation!

Jewish cabal,indeed.

Bootstraps
If you look at the stories of the Bush appointees, you'll find a common theme: hard work, humble beginnings, American Dream. All the discussion about how effective they have been, how powerful they are versus Pelosi is useless banter. We have an idealistic president whose values are apparent. Has he made mistakes, yes. But he represents more core values of mainstream Americans than harrumph "Captain Planet" Al Gore and Monsieur preening pompadour(Oh how he loathes the military) Kerry.

Principled leaders, (yes, you can disagree with his principles) are usually faulted by people who have a sliding scale of principles. Their Machiavellian skirts will rise for any tryst that furthers their self-absorbed agenda.

As Ann points out, the Democrats tend towards oligarchy. That is, they mouth diversity but only as it maintains their power base and the ruse that they "care" about the plight of the underdogs. The arrogance they show by ignoring real diversity that doesn't kow tow to their core is apparent to all who care to see. To those who won't see, they'll be lead by the same into a ditch.

Andrew
Don't worry about the couple "Jews run the world" whackos on this site. (btw, there are far more on Daily Kos)

I assure you, 99% of people do not believe this conspiracy crap.

I'm glad you are a conservative. Every Jewish person I've known has been a self-reliant, hard-working, and a loyal American (I'm sure there are exceptions).

It only amazes me that all Jewish people are not Republicans.

Well shoot!!!!!
Here I am a life long Republican. Now I find out it is the Dems that are out there marrying multi-millionaires! Should have joined the Pelosi-Kerry club long ago.

Coulter
Why does Mr.Coulter hate women?

Sorry. Ya'll Misread The Article.

The whole point of the article was just ANOTHER demonstration of the "Liberal-Democrat-Party" bias of the "mainstream" media.

At least OUR liberals here at Townhall get SOME exposure to sources other than NYT, WAPO, or CBS.

And thanks, BigIron, for that great link to Portland Indymedia. Now THERE'S a resource beyond the norm.

can we find out
Since Ms. San Fran and her co-horts will want to tax the filthy rich who don't pay their share....I'm wondering exactly how much Ms. San Fran and cut and run Murtha and I hate the military Kerry pay in taxes? I'm not sure how to go about finding that out, but I'm sure someone here is.....

Kimberly....
As you've clearly pointed out in this post today, you OBVIOUSLY get your news from the MSM:

http://newsbusters.org/node/9094

Wow, I didn't know you love Keith so much! And I'm going to be blunt - what a lame attempt to attack bloggers with a different opinion than you on this site.

You know, there's a reason this didn't make MSM news, yet Olbermann was the one that covered it - it is not the majority of people. But then again, perhaps you are the PERFECT example of the students at Columbia University, which rioted when the Minutemen showed up, yet did NOTHING when Khatami spoke at Harvard...

Let me know if I need to send you a link outside of TH discussing this... Because you can't possibly believe anything that comes from a person on this site, can you?

Right
Facists are considered "right wing" and communists are considered "left wing." Many jews historically associate "right wing" with Hitler, and what Jew would want to be found in bed there (a bed of ashes). Part of their tendency, as a bloc, is to move more left. Sadly, uncle Joe Stalin on the left had similar designs on Jewish folks too. The tendency of the very creative folks, Jewish and otherwise, is to be very egalitarian and assume that "cultured people" will appreciate the arts and be kind, indeed. Steiner pointed out, however, that the Nazi's raped Europe of its best art and music and enjoyed it while scraping the ashes of Jews from under their fingernails. The "cultured bunch" is not always that kind after all. The sad part is that many Jewish folks fail to understand that the liberal impulse will be to sell Israel to the dogs if it's expedient.

Profblog Nails It - AGAIN

I had to read your post over. Great stuff. I'm cutting pasting and sending copies to my friends.

Cheers.

andrews
Hey brother!!! I'm a Roman Catholic Jew!!!! I come from a total Czech background yet, my great-great grandmother married a Jewish man! How cool is that??? Oy!!!

OK...
OK, you know what, Kimberly? I may have been a little over the top on that last post. This is the thing that burns me the most about your presence, as well as others with similar views as yours on TH: you are given many chances here to discuss your points. While some people return in kind or kinder posts, and others don't - you like to focus only on the second group, ignoring those that would like to debate with you on topics.

Furthermore, examples such as your posts are a blatant attack on anyone that is both male and a conservative. So whether you named me in that bunch or not, my name also gets included. And sorry, that's by far one of the cheapest shots I have seen, comparable to r0-d2.

Now I've ignored the advice from others because of an inherent belief taught to me BY LIBERALS that all people mean well. Heck, that's what they teach in Psychology 101, isn't it? And that's not 100% true, but maybe, just maybe... I thought it could be applied here in TH. You and some other posters have proven that wrong.

So you oppose views, that's fine. But if your point is to pick a fight with other people, I suggest another location. And that's why I'm writing this second post - I do not condone the name calling or flaming of others in threads.

Thank you for your time.

USA Believer

You gotter, kid. The libs who post here tend to mean-spirited personal attacks, but they get responded to in kind - and sometimes preemptively - by many of our non-lib fellows.

Grab a broom, let's clean up this act.

Now, to the article...
With my little sidebar now finished, I think this point hits home. While Rice may not be in an elected position, traditionally the Secretary of State is a more internationally viewed position than the Speaker of the House. This deserves a lot of credit, whether you agree or disagree with her qualifications or duties. But it did get buried in the news.

Why the glorification of Pelosi over the past few weeks? One possibility, mentioned by both liberals and conservatives - because she's a better choice for 2008 than Clinton. All of a sudden the discussion of her liberal and progressive ideas are off the table (as complained on several diaries in Kos) and now working for bipartisanship. That couldn't possibly be used to make her look really good for a presidential nomination, could it?

Realistically, I find it very likely that the Democrat party will be pushing a female presidential candidate in 2008. Just which one?

But the MSM bias is not limited to news alone. For example, Law & Order CI had an episode this week "The War at Home", where a deputy commissioner's daugther was killed on leave at home because she saw a cover-up in Iraq. The story said that an Army squad leader - appearing to be mid-20s - killed an Iraqi army platoon execution-style because bad intel from their sergeant led them to an ambush, killing 2 of his squad. Then it was covered up by blaming "insurgents".

The other more blantant example is ABC's Ugly Betty, where the father has not only disclosed that he is an illegal immigrant, but he didn't try the process because he killed a man to protect the woman he loved.

Of course, there are other blatant examples of bias against conservatives, such as the Countdown this week that Kimberly referred to but failed to mention the source... the point is the MSM will do what they have to in order to sell a story. Guess which side they have for a stronger audience? You do the math.

Thank you for your time.

GunnyG --
Just took a look at two local papers that I remembered from Ohio - the Cleveland Plain Dealer, and the Akron Beacon Journal (Was Knight-Ridder, but I think they got sold) - Funny, not ONE MENTION of Kucinich's remarks in the papers. Like I said in the other thread, his comments by many people in the area, liberals and conservatives, are considered off-the-wall.

I'll keep an eye and see if I find a link, but again, so far nothing.

profblog says...
...the Liberal impulse would be to sell the Jewish folks to the dogs.

How right you are; I have been banned from a far-left blog (Newhounds, disgusting site),for taking the side of Israel on issues, the
moderators are always posting pro-Arab, Iran etc posts. And hate and I mean hate anyone who disagrees w/their point and exposes their bigotry and intolerance. Unbelievable, but so apparent, they call you "disruptive". I also wonder, why more Jewish people are not republicans, the Dems use and abuse them so.

BTW, they fail to understand that getting banned by them is comparable to being told by Satan that you're not wanted in hell.

OK. So, I am a bit touchy when it comes to warrior who has said "Maybe the Protocols of the Elders of Zion weren't forgeries" and then finds a way to add "And Jews" to every comment.

But to have that followed by a "Jews control the media"...

Look, I have never felt out of place in conservative circles, nor do I find discrimination and racism everywhere (or much of anywhere to be honest). And I will admit, without the context of weeks of Warrior finding Jews behind every social ill, defending the Protocols, and feeling the need to add "and Radical Jews" to every post while arguing that no one should call him anti-semitic, his post seems innocuous. On the other hand, what part of "Jews control the media" do you not comprehend as bothersome?

Or do you think we really do have big meetings where we plot what Katie Couric will say next week?

Ringmaster
Just re-read your post, and decided you are just a moron. So ignore my last post, as I was trying to be reasonable, and you are obviously an idiot.

kucinich
the man who put cleveland in default, and a liberal that for some reason keeps getting elected is a fence sitter on most things unless its going to benefit him,he has aspirations to higher office and his recent rants are another reason not to elect him for anything other than a councilman.

Kimberley finally emerged and wrote
"Enough said about Coulter and her vile columns."

If you find them so vile, why do you waste your own time reading them? Why not comfort yourself with the collected works of Eleanor Clift and Maureen Dowd, pour yourself a nice chianti and make sure the batteries in your vibrator are new.

Democrats and the Conservative Agenda
Let's see here:
Babs Boxer, the Senate's other Blithering idiot [she sent me email once expressing her concern for illegals tunneling into the US; apparently the walk-ons were no problemo!], has been put in charge of an environmental committee [yep, the Dems nailed it ... environmentalism is the soup de jour with these dolts]; the Dem Senators are already talking about pulling the troops; Henry The Wax Man and Joseph Hairplug Biden are gearing up the investigative committees prepatory to bringing impeachment proceedings on Bush; Conyers, et. al. are going to quiety let the tax cuts expire and then go for a tax hike if a Dem gets in the WH, or McCain, same difference; tax cuts for the middle class and tax hikes on the "rich" thus putting the economy in the tank again; and of course the gays will want the right to marry each other and all the other little kook fringe groups that make up the modern Democratic Party, i.e., the Party of Perjury, Paganism, and Perversion. John Murtha will be the poster boy for Democratic values, but will be hard pushed by Alcee Hastings, the impeached former judge who became a Congressman, [Dems can do this; Reps get purged] a man pelosevich voted to impeach and is now being given a committee chairmanship courtesy of said Pelosevich.
Yep, the Dems did their makeover and can now call themselves Conservatives after vanquishing the Big-Government Republicans.

ProfBlog
states: The sad part is that many Jewish folks fail to understand that the liberal impulse will be to sell Israel to the dogs if it's expedient.

That is SO true and so sad. Really. I don't know what it is with the Jewish people having to suffer so much. They are, after all, God's chosen people. I actually know some Christians who think that Jewish people will not go to heaven!!! Like they have God and His Son, Jesus, so figured out. We don't know what happens at the moment of death and I, for one, believe that every truth seeking (i.e. God seeking) person will actually meet Jesus at death and He will be the natural choice for those who have tried to follow God's will in their lives. Oh boy. Here we go. I'll probably have every rabbi, priest, and God knows what else on my case from here on in.....

Coulter's piece on Pelosi
George Bush's misplacing of his veto pen for over six years should be included in the long list of reasons his party took their thumpin' in last week's elections. As I recall, he's vetoed only one bill, one which would have provided federal funding for stem cell research.

It'll be interesting to see what, if anything he will veto between now and his exit from office. With Superwoman becoming the House Speaker and a number of her fellow liberal Demos moving up to positions of great Congressional clout, will Dubya have the stones to counter with his veto power any of the bad legislation they're certain to produce?

It is always odd
It seems always odd when people forget their intellectual roots. The broadcast media, national daily newspapers and liberals in general have long promoted civil rights but it seems equal opportunity only applies to those belonging to the Democrat Party. Any African American or women appointed by a Republican is most obviously just a token, house slave or bimbo.

They seem to forget, though we hear quotes every year, Martin Luther King's "I have a dream speech".

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

I guess character only matters when you are a Democrat.

At least Dr. King read the Declaration:

"I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."

Makoshark
"I guess character only matters when you are a Democrat."

Should probably read:

"I guess character doesn't matter when you are a Democrat."

After all, we all know the only things that matters for Democrats is that (D) after their name. Once you have the (D) you can do anything you want. Drive women off bridges, run male prostitution rings, accept Abscam bribes [but "not yet"], take your underage male page out of the country for a love-in, make some interesting land or cattle future deals, anything... And even after you do it, even if you admit to it, the Democrat faithful will all go to great lengths to "prove" it was no big deal.

One distressing thing about Ann's
column is the picture of Nancy embedded in it. Right above it reads: Enlarge this photo to view more.
Yikes! No thanks.....Halloween is over.

Dear RightisRight
You said, "BTW, they fail to understand that getting banned by them is comparable to being told by Satan that you're not wanted in hell." That's more credit than I'd give them. Satan is called the "deceiver of the World." While they may inadvertently aspire to such a post, I don't think that such mental capacity exists within their ranks. However, to pick up on your analogy, what often happens on campus is that a few lone males that sign up for "feminist literature perspectives" are cold-shouldered out. To borrow Ann's allusion to groups of females together, ("For a while there, it looked as if Bush might become the first president whose entire Cabinet's menstrual cycles were synchronized")your being axed by Newhounds looks like a failure to "syncronize" with their cabal, and, to push their name further, they may be more "alpha bitches" than "alpha males."
Cheers.

Hoyer is #2 Democrat
I just saw that Steny Hoyer was selected to be the #2 Dem behind Pelosi so she lost her battle to get Murtha as Majority Leader. Apparently a number of Dems (over half!) must also have believed that Murtha was not fit to be the House #2 man in spite of Pelosi's arm twisting. They must have believed all those right-wing wingbats!

I think Pelosi lost a lot of credibility with this one.

More on Hoyer...
I saw the vote was 149-86 for Hoyer. Sounds like a land-slide to me! Pelosi is gonna have trouble explaining that one.

I was more concerned with the view that there is some group called "the Jews" who control the media. If a field is predomnant Catholic, no one (excluding some fringe groups) argue that Catholics control that field.

However, some seem to ahve no problem seeing Jews filling a majority of an occupation and ascribe to them some sort of common motive.

I was arguing that saying "jews control the media" is misleading in that it is a number of individuals, many Jewish, and not some horrifying cabal of jews who somehow scheme to dominate media.

In addition, I deny that the Democrats are "their party", as, though Jews may be disproportionately Democrat, they are not mroe so than any number of groups. Once again, would you say the Democrats are the Catholic party? Or Episcopal party? Yet both of those Christian denominations tend to skew Democratic.

Lastly, perhaps I was a bit more critical as you were posting after I had criticized Warrior's earlier post. I have never seen another post of yours which credited any sort of Jewish conspiracy, so I am perfectly ready to accept that I may have read more into what you said than was there. As I said, it may have come at a bad time for purposes of my response, and if so, I am sorry for misreading your point.

Deb
Good to meet a fellow Pole, though my relatives spoke Russian as they immigrated from Polish-Ukranian areas under Russian rule, where the Czars had enforced Russian-only education.

I am actually surprised at the number of people who have never met a conservative Jew. True, almost all of the Reform and many Conservative and Orthodox Jews are democrats, but so are many Catholics, and, many of the Orthodox, just like Catholics vote Democrat more out of tradition than belief. As there are large numbers of conservative Catholic nominal-democrats there are a large number of conservative orthodox nominally-democrat jews.

In addition, just as the South, the Catholics, and a number of other traditionally democrat bastions have begun to erode, so too the more traditionalist Jewish groups have slowly begun to move to the right and some have even moved officially into the Republican party.

As I said before, Charles Krauthammer and Jeff Jacoby are hardly left-wingers here on Town Hall.

Lastly, to Deb, feel fortunate that you only had two languages. In government offices in Maryland in Montgomery County the signs (last time I checked) were in eight separate languages. I would love to go back to just Spanish and English.

Great Letter to Jon Carry (sic)
Dear Senator Kerry:

We are still laughing over here in Iraq at your joke about the troops being dumb. We do recognize that you are a lot smarter than we are because you were able to get out of combat in three months. This is why we are seeking your advice. Please give us guidance.

1.) Where is the least painful area on the body to inflict a wound?
2.) Does it have to bleed or will a scratch do?
3.) Where do you get the forms to fill out recommending yourself for a purple heart?
4.) Do you need a witness? If so, how much does that cost?
5.) Are three purple hearts still good for a trip home?
6.) What is a realistic period of time in which to acquire these wounds? Less than three months sounds a little suspicious even to us.

Thanks for your help and keep the jokes coming.

Just a dumb G. I.

P.S....What advice can you give me on how to meet
really rich women?

Kerry hypocracy contageous
Pardon me if I don't partake in the Comments Section's argument on Jewish conspiracies. There are more important matters to discuss here, like Ann Coulter's latest article for instance.

I found it right on the mark about the double standard that Republicans don't get credit for gathering minorities in their tent, and Democrats aren't taken to task for excluding them from theirs.

One example of Kerry-type hypocracy that may qualify is the backing of a MAN by Nancy Pelosi for chairman of the House Intelligence Committee (Alcee Hastings) over a WOMAN, Jane Harman, who happens to be that committee's top ranking member.

While it may be true that Hastings is a man of color, it should be noted that his past is much more checkered than John Murtha's. In fact Hastings, then a judge in the 1980's, was impeached by both houses of Congress and convicted by the Senate (only one of six judges in history) for perjury and bribery taking.

We know what just happened to Murtha in his Pelosi-backed quest for Majority Leader. Can we hope for the same in this instance? That way, Pelosi can be discredited for losing two battles and betraying her own sex in the process. Maybe she'll even ditch both candidates for that chairmanship and do like Kerry does. Hire a white male for the position while claiming to work for women and minorities.

By the way, Ann, I didn't know Norman Minetta was a certified retarded-American. I thought he was just a little slow.

Kimberly

As Kimberly has clearly shown today, respond without an insult and she'll keep you off the radar. I've found we share several things in common, disagree about some, but I find it better to talk about better things than spending my time trying to get her to understand or at least accept there is another point of view out there.

My suggestion: let it go. Hard to do sometimes, yes - but putting her center stage only fuels the fire, rather than letting it burn out. If she wants to get into a real debate - then give her the time.

GunnyG - She obviously is not giving you equal respect by reading your posts or your blog. In those two places alone she would have invalidated her last statement.

GunnyG:
Went to your blog... you're right, another great message to Jon Carry (sic)!

Funny... haven't seen this one in the MSM either... I wonder why? :-)

Today's WSJ's Best of the Web on Kerry
James Taranto had this little nugget on Kerry in his BOTW:

United Press International (http://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/view.php?StoryID=20061115-012201-2794r) does sound one encouraging note about the Democratic leadership:

U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer appeared to kick Sen. John Kerry out of a Democratic leadership walk in Washington, a reporter who witnessed the event said.

An ABC News reporter said the incident occurred Tuesday outside of the Old Senate Chamber as members of the new Democratic leadership, of which Kerry is not a part, left the chamber en route to the Ohio Clock Corridor to discuss leadership elections, the incoming majority's agenda and Iraq. . . .

When Schumer noticed Kerry, D-N.Y., walking behind him, he turned and said something to the Massachusetts senator that caused him to stop.

Kerry waited for the Democratic leaders to walk ahead and then ducked between two statues.

You know, education--if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck between two statues.

The coverage of woman-house-speaker vs the coverage of woman-secretary of state is perfectly proportionate:

One is elected, one is appointed.

Get real

jd
So you 're saying unless you are elected your accomplishment is tainted or of a lesser quality? Interesting, because in the real world, let's say business, it is your qualifications and abilities which commend you , not necessarily if you are popular with the gang. Your comment speaks volumes about the Liberal mindset which doesn't recognize meritocracy, but only vague notions of results equality which reflect what you believe is "fair".

TY very much - I especially liked that 1966 pic. I never knew John Fonda Kerry had a career in TV before he went to VietNam!

Thanx Ann

It's also news if it's about creating - oops, I mean, discovering - a new victim's group. Such things must be covered in detail.

For example, I don't know if you're old enough to remember when the first poll was done showing that women were under-paid and generally discriminated against by their employers. That story lasted for weeks!

These things are news because they provide fresh material for Liberals' speech-writers.

USABeliever
Thank you for the advice. However, notice that since my post and some others, Kimberly hasn't had anything to say on this blog. My point was that she? thinks she? Truthbetold...
Nah, she just jumped on the train and moved over to Larry Elder's column. Left Angle's been posting on Novak's column... Believe me, there's plenty to go around.. We'll just keep it out to them, and then they'll change it up. (You should really see Left Angle's posts today)

truthbetold
I think you're pretty accurate about Kimberly - she seems to have started with two plus two equals five, if that's what you're comfortable with, and continued to distort reality from there.

That, and she depends heavily on discussions with her fellow moonbats to determine how to think TODAY. (Tomorrow might be different, because another species might be added to the endangered list, some congressman/woman might propose making it legal to marry your pet rat, .....)

jd
Counterbalance that, if you would. The speaker represents one precinct of one town of one state, for one house of the Congress.

The secretary of state represents the entire United States to every country on the planet.

jd
Also, the wonder of a woman getting elected to the House is not a first at all. No one elected her to become Speaker of the House other than the democratic house that appointed her there.

Don't go away guys, there's more!

MyOpine...
Yeah, bring those on! I saw some of those yesterday!

Link does not go where it should
That link DID go to an article about Coulter & Malkin being blamed for some nut cake sending hate mail & baking powder to people he did not like.

Here is your new direction America
Copied and pasted from (gasp!) foxnews.com:

'Asked about her decision to support Murtha, Pelosi later told reporters that she did not think her endorsement had marred her ability to lead the caucus or its ongoing unity.

"I am completely jubilant today to be nominated by acclamation by my party. I have to be who I am and I am a person who is committed to ending this war. It has been a grotesque mistake. ... and I promise I will do everything possible to end it," she said. "The caucus thought differently."'

I thought the democrats did not want to cut and run? With Murtha as Chairman of Defense Appropriations, how long until the ongoing operations in Iraq are defunded?

MyOpine...
It works the way it was supposed to for me. The page header won't show it though, because there's 5 topics on the same page.

More replies rather quickly...
RedStateNative - If Kucinich has his way, soon. He's already talking about it (GunnyG mentioned it in his blog, Drudge has it too)

MyOpine - KO wasn't done with just that piece - he then started on Fox News:

There once was a Speaker named Nan

On a platform of fog,
She recaptured the bog,
Without even offering a plan.

You have a reading problem--you obviously failed English comprehension. My point about Liberal/Progressive/ Communist Jews is to establish they exist. Everyone beats up on the far Right Fundamentalist/Charismatic Christians and the Radical Muslims or Islamofascist but treat all Jews as a homogeneous sacrosanct group exempt from all criticism. To criticize a Jew is to be labeled anti-Semitic. Many communist Jews immigrated to this country from Europe and parts of Asia(they numbered in the thousands) and they have raised their children to embrace the Communist ideology. I believe those people have no allegiance to the USA, they are secularist, and they are the prime movers in the attempt to push God from the public square. They, the Radical Communist Jews, are in the fore front of the ongoing cultural battle for our American way of life. I don't like it and I want them identified for their role-George Soros is one that can be easily fingered. It is not the courts , MSM, Hollywood, ACLU, Universities, or some other nebulous institution; it is the individuals that have permeated those institutions and through their anonymity are attacking the American culture. Many of those are Radical Communist Jews and to criticise them is nothing more insidious that trying to save all that I love. If you want to label me--I do not care.

No MyOpine...
What I believe you were linking to is EXACTLY what you linked to before. That was a good topic to link to, especially in this thread.

.. But those other links are good links too! Well, going to call it a night, see you all tomorrow!

San Fran Nan
"I was proud to support (Murtha) for majority leader because I thought that would be the best way to bring an end to the war in Iraq," Pelosi said after the vote"

Translation: I'm smarter than you idiots, so don't blame me when we fail

George W. Bush, Jewish?
Of course, when I say we could call Bush our first Jewish President, I mean that he's treated exactly like the Jews: accused of being stupid and incompetent, and yet somehow clever and menacing enough to be in charge of a huge Jewish conspiracy at the same time.

(As I'm sure you know by now, 9/11 was all a big Jewish conspiracy to get us into a war for oil for Israel. It was only the best-planned and best-executed Jewish conspiracy ever, EVER.)

Have a good day, and feel free to post on my site.

Kimberly, blue, & Sweet
Kimberly: Yes I do smoke cigars Arturo Fuentes (Seleccion Privada #1) and Partagas (Spanish Rosado). I’m sure these are quiet above and beyond your taste. These however, these are not dipped in interns.

It’s interesting that you would accuse other good honest conservatives and myself posting here of the type that would threaten and attempt to perpetrate a hoax on someone, ref. Chad Castagana, yet you know nothing about us. But then, that’s the Democratic party way.

With regards to myself however, I’ll enlighten you just a tad bit. Yes, I smoke. I smoke some of the best cigars (see supra). No, I do not threaten a man, woman, or child. No, I do not attempt to perpetrate a hoax on anyone. Yes, if I catch you at an off moment, I’ll have some fun at your expense as long as no one gets hurt (my type of humor). I grew up about 30 miles from town and was working (tilling the soil) by the age of 11 or 12. I’ve feed the livestock when the snow was above my knees and when the temperature was 20 below zero. My word is my bond and I expect the same from any other man or woman. I do not live lavishly (beyond my means) nor in a large home. Do I drink? Yes, Scotch is my preference, however your logic expressed in your posts leads me to conclude that the liquors in my liquor cabinet far and away exceed your age (mentally and physically). I would be willing to bet a good cigar I bought some of them before you were a twinkle in your daddy’s eye. What’s with the “Big Iron,” it’s because I carry one. Would I use it, I have before and will again if I deem it necessary. Don’t worry Kimberly, you have nothing to fear from me or the Big Iron. Where I go, as have/do others who post here I’m sure, people like your self, fear to tread.

Conservatives post here in good faith. They put forth the truth and they expect nothing less from the liberal side of the fence. They also expect a reasonable response, not hate posts. If you can’t abide by these simple rules you and your ilk are the looser.

How about yourself?

Blue: you’re welcome. I’ve followed the postings on the site for about two years. It’s really a hoot. When I go to the site, even my dog covers his eyes. You are correct it is way beyond the norm especially when it comes to the 9/11 and the contrail conspiracy theories.

Sweet: The time I spent in Portland, I enjoyed. It is great country. It’s too bad the few cast such a shadow on the rest of the state.

GunnyG
I’ve not tried the Canones but I’m sure they’re good as are all Fuentes I have tried.

Thanks for the complement regarding the post.

As for being over Kimberly’s head, probably so, but maybe some light will pass her way. If not by me, maybe someone else will have better luck. One ignores the real world at their own peril and in doing so they only live to reap the devil’s whorl wind. I’ve seen it happen time and time again. The sad part is, when it occurs, they don’t understand why it happened to them and they blame someone else.

Now where did I put that cigar and Drambuie?

GunnyG
Not to fear, I found them.

doc, re:white trash
Actually, Jimmy Carter was our third white-trash president. Andrew Jackson was our first. Lyndon Johnson was second.

Warrior and Jews
I guess I am not sure what your point is about Liberal, Progressive, Communist Jews. So what that there are Jews who meet one or more of those adjectives. There are also Catholics, Methodists, Atheists, etc. who do as well. And there are Jews, Methodists (I am one of them), Catholics, and Atheists who are Conservative, right wing, or whatever. So why do we need to add the religion aspect to this?

BTW, I subscribe to the Jewish World Review (http://jewishworldreview.com/) which is anything but left wing/communist. It is as conservative as this website (many of the same columnists are available on that website too. And I really like the political cartoons available on the site, especially Chuck Asay.

Just my opinion...

Wingo
Perhaps BillyBob Clinton is the fourth white-trash president but I think he can be called the first trailer-trash president! And wasn't it someone in his administration who said something about "who knows what you'll get if you drag a $100 through a trailer park?" Apparently a president!

USABeliever - Moonbats:

I reprised the following from a post I made on July 24th and revised some of the laguage to make it more generic. It's my achrostic for MOON-BATTERY -- inspired by one of the more virulent strains of the species.

How to recognize signs of Moon-battery?

Makes himself/herself/itself/their selves the authority: Ultimately ruling on all outcomes.

Obfuscates by parsing (deconstructing) your arguments: When you get them (your arguments) back from a Moonbat they’re barely recognizable.

Often breaks own rules: As the authority, when questioned, obfuscates.

Never concedes on large issues: No matter the weight of evidence to the contrary; escape hatch is almost always, conspiracy.

Believer: Ideological to the core – a certifiable true believer. References to Conservative talk show hosts actions; such as Sean Hannity’s ferreting out people like them, is probably from first hand experience. Sean understands you could more easily convert a stone than a Moonbat.

Attacks only Conservatives: While at times offering to do likewise to Liberals, never actually do.

Tyrannizes with talking points: Most of us get online to engage in dialogue. With Moonbats however, it’s all about the guano dump: cut and paste, cut and paste, cut and… INCOMING!

Trojan Horse: Uses a purposefully deceptive name as the shell to gain entry or in the very least to appear non-threatening. “Wisdom however, is known by her actions.”

Egocentrically self-congratulatory: Believes that convincing arguments were made by them and we all have gone for the Kool-Aid.

Really need to get a life: Thirty plus years old and still living with Mommy and Daddy or (at a minimum) still subsidized by them.

Yippie or wanabe: longs for the “Glory days” of unrestricted sex, drugs and campus anarchy.

How do I get to your blog GunnyG ???
Can you please link me to your blog...I grew up on the South Side of Chicago...It was different then....Now..we are choking on our politically correct vomit...Everything is out of whack....now parents are sueing a school because their kid got hurt playing dodgeball...I don't know..I think we have gone past the point of no return...I seriously do not want to advocate violence but the Jihadists are raising up some bad-ss youth...Your take???

Speaker of the House
So Nancy got elected from San Francisco and grew old in the House, thereby qualifying for the position of Speaker. She didn't do anything but age. Her only accoplishment was to get elected from San Francisco, from where I'm sitting it looks like any NUT can do that

Colosteve
Do you consider you are part of the Christian right? What makes you different from the Christian right or what makes you part of the Christian right? Most Christians believe there is a Christian right and they are not part of it. Is there a Radical/Communist Jew left that are secularist. I say there is, but they have not been identified. I do not mean identified by name but as a debilitating force on our culture. Here are my words from my other blog--"Many of those are Radical Communist Jews" ... Note the phrase "Many of those"--that does not imply they all are Jews, some are Methodist, etc. as you suggested, but so did I. Because of your handle Colosteve--I will guess you have a link to Colorado--just a guess. At the Air Force Academy, Fisher DeBerry, Head Football Coach, is a very religious Christian guy. He has coached there for roughly 20 years and he has used his religion to motivate his players to distinguish themselves by good clean living , teamwork, and sportsmanship. He was very successful using that technique. Recently( a few years ago), the AFA came under fire for praying at meal time and Coach DeBerry was singled out for his Christian beliefs and his emphasis on it. Right or wrong, it happened. The complaint was made by a Jew cadet from New Mexico (I think I remember that correctly) and he did not play football. He was a closet secularist( I have been told) and he was changing our culture--in my opinion. Immediately, all the Radical Communist lawyers crawled from the woodwork to support his claim. The result , no more "Grace" before meals and one of the most effective coaches in America lost one of his prime motivating tools for coaching. You may say "good"--I do not. I resist change to what our founding fathers created for us, I fear the unknown, and I am paranoid with respect to attacks on our basic institutions.

Pelosi and Speaker of the House
Once again Ann Coulter is right on the money. It's amazing how much we hear about Nancy Pelosi becomming Speaker when it was barely mentioned about Rice being named National Security Advisor and Sec. of State. As usual its the same old MSM speaking for the democrats and against the GOP. When is the media going to learn to speak for the people and not for the democrat party.

Nancy's Nightmare:
After Ms. Pelosi's less than stellar arm twisting and Debutantes Ball, ala Mutha and Hoyer. It's going to be very entertaining watching the in-fighting and eating of their own along the Dem side of the aisle.

Kind of like the newer "Dawn Of The Dead" aboard H.M.S. Titantic as it heads towards an iceberg with Nancy at the helm!

Jack.

State Department Dung Heap
So Condi Rice is at the top of the heap over at the State Department? Ann would have you believe we're supposed to be impressed.
If you only knew how chocked full of certifiable morons, drooling imbeciles and arrogance jerkoffs that held court at the US State Department you might just begin to understand why the world holds the US in such low regard.
Perhaps Pelosi and Rice have more in common than anyone here would like to admit. Even at the top, a dung heap is STILL a dung heap.

Sheeple

Coulter lies about the attention Rice received in the MSM -- to sheeple who proudly claim to never read the MSM.

Those same sheeple swallow the lie, hook, line and sinker -- and vent their rage -- in abject ignorance of reality.

Plus, the MUCH higher importance of the House Speaker is (of course) caused by being second in the line of succession to become President.

Bill, krystalbird, and Harmony
Thanks for the feedback, but I guess I didn't make the point enough. Jerubaal actually understood it best in response to Harmony; " I HATE RINOS!"

My point is that if we keep taking whatever junk laws they enact for us, pay for all the earmarks, allow the increased regulations, like McCain-Feingold, and then still keep voting for them, how is anyone going to get the RIGHT idea? Compassionate Conservatism turned out a whole lot like liberalism, seems to me.

They paid a few respects to our conservative values, then went on a power grab and spending spree like nobody's business. Now that both parties see that that behavior is not acceptable, we might start seeing some moderation of that trend. If we can make them understand that the election was not about Iraq, but about the other things on my list above.

krystalbird, you're way off. Despite not being lied to by Republicans, I'm about as conservative as they come. I will never vote for another dem, unless a conservative version happens to show up to compete with our beloved Mr. Price. But then again, I can't vote in the Dem primary. ("red"_NC)

Correction, sorry
I entered:" Despite not being lied to by Republicans, " when I should have said, " Despite not liking being lied to by Republicans,"

I have stopped equating Republican and Conservative. I'm looking for a conservative alternative.

Conservative Alternative
Alas, there is no conservative alternative (in terms of political parties) that has any hope of winning elections, largely because there aren't enough socially and fiscally conservative people left in this country to form a true majority. With somewhere around 50% of the population dependent on government largess (from Social Insecurity on down), all too few people have any incentive to grow up and avoid the temptation to vote for their share (and more) of the public treasury.

I hope I'm wrong, but it appears those of us who may be defined as reasonable or sensible are fighting a losing battle against those who are not.

That's why I work as hard as I can to encourage people to look up toward the High Frontier--settling the Solar System and beyond--because a large part of our problems, socially and fiscally, are caused by the closing of the Frontier in this country at the beginning of the last century. The only place for those of us with the pioneering spirit to go now is up. Since the sensible, reasonable principles of Ludwig von Mises (economics)and the word of Yahweh (social) are the only principles that will work to enable survival on the High Frontier, where better for us to go and establish a civilization that works?

When you're stuck between a rock (Demofascists) and a hard place (RINOs), the only way out is up.

Overinclusiveness
Overinclusiveness causes paralysis. Not surprisingly, the very libertarian views of Ayn Rand which leave God out of the equation tend inevitably in the direction here mentioned.

A male white president has to have women and minority stooges, not because he necessily needs the votes they represent--Karl Rove found that out--but because in order to be elected he must fit the category of a dumbed-down white male with a lot of stupid ideas, because only these kind of ideas appeal to a multicultural, multiethnic population. The elected official is therefore too inadequate to associate with real (meaning "authentic") people, and must delve into the treasury of affirmative action and equal opportunity to fill the void. Actually, he becomes isolated and self-absorbed, hence Pelosi's reference to the Emperor with no clothes.

Allen
And how will history shine on Pelosi but through books? And how many has she written?

Part of the history about Pelosi has already been written by Ann Coulter in at least two best-selling books. And those books will live long after Pelosi is gone. Not even to mention that Ms. Coulter is prolific. There will be many more books.

Allen - Speaking of Schticks...

Ann is only making observations; pointing out the disproportionate adulation heaped on the Democrat leadership by their cheerleaders in the msm. Facts are stubborn things and the weight of evidence speaks for itself. She merely has a way of presenting them (facts) in such a way as to make Liberals squirm, not unlike you are now.

Insofar as shticks are concerned, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen the “Big Momma’s House 2” spiel parroted by trolls. If you’re stupid enough to continue aping this comparison, no amount of discourse will dissuade you from your lemming course and frankly, I have neither the time nor the inclination to dignify this further.

Amongst other things, Miss Coulter will be remembered for daring to challenge the previously unassailable strongholds of liberalism; one of which she has referred to as, “The Doctrine of Invincibility.” If the Jersey Girls are victims, it’s of their own ill-advised ideologically driven post 9/11 course of action. Had they remained non-partisan and not allied themselves with the ongoing Kerry campaign, everyone would have championed them. They chose to do otherwise and Ann called them on it. Her alternative is honest discourse by individuals that we can respond to. Seems reasonable to me – I’m personally tired of the victimhood shtick and of all its all too voluble sycophantic adherents.

Bad getting worse
You think Pelosi is bad? We now have the MSM and some "conservative" pundits like Michael Balone(y) telling us that unless conservatives embrace the 20 million illegal aliens here, and grant them all citizenship along with a Republican party membership card, the current party will "go the way of the Whigs".

Well, I for one am still wishing for a return of the Whigs! At least they stood for something!! Shine on Whigs!

Thanks Ann!!! and hello to GunnyG

As a best-seller, she's a fraud . Places like NewsMax GIVE AWAY her book ... which artificially swells the sales figgers.

A neat racket.

One more time for the thinking impaired ... Coulter lied about the treatment Rice received in the MSM ... to readers who proudly never read the MSM.

That makes Coulter a liar ... and her fans blindly gullible.

Allen:

Nice pick on the “Doctrine of Infallibility.” Either you actually read her book or you have good talking point resources. I ‘m inclined to believe it’s the latter. It’s also been my experience that all you trolls ever seem to want to do is parse statements, that is, while avoiding the point. I’ll give you credit for taking this head on. Insofar as your statement, “The ‘Jersey Girls’ had every right as Americans to do what they did.” I never stated otherwise. Once they made it a partisan endeavor however, they were fair game – which is what Ann’s point was in her book. Your Terri Schiavo comparison is about as apt as your Big Momma’s House 2 comparison. Allow me to point out the painfully obvious for you; Terri Schiavo did not have a voice. We will be judged as a society by how we treat the weakest amongst us and for the record, in using the word, “us” I mean people us. You then make another ridiculous comparison – Schiavo/Katrina. More parroted talking points. Bush’s biggest mistake concerning Katrina, was his not realizing the ineptitude of the Democrat leadership ala Governor (I couldn’t understand the forms) Blanco and Mayor (yellow school bus) Nagin.
