Obama's Foreign Policy "Unacceptable" Says McCain

Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain described his Democratic rival Barack Obama’s willingness to negotiate with enemies of the United States as “unacceptable” in a conference call Tuesday afternoon.

"I think it is an unacceptable position and shows Senator Obama does not have the knowledge, the experience, the background to make the kind of judgments that are necessary to preserve this nation."

“My question to Senator Obama is ‘what do you want to talk about with them?'” McCain asked. Specifically addressing the scenario in which Obama might meet with Iran’s President Ahmadinejad McCain said, “If Senator Obama wants to sit down across the table form a leader of a country that calls Israel a ‘stinking corpse’ and comes to New York to say he is going to wipe Israel off the map, what is it that he wants to talk about."

McCain added doing this would give Iran “prestige enhancement and a bigger influence in the region which would be directly contrary to America’s national security interests.”

Obama’s diplomacy was a hot topic of conversation of the call, held hours after President Bush scolded “appeasement” in a speech celebrating Israel’s 60th birthday Tuesday morning.

Before the Israeli Knesset President Bush said: “Some seem to believe we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along. We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: ‘Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler, all of this might have been avoided.’ We have an obligation to call this what it is – the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history.”

The Obama campaign released a statement sharply criticizing Bush for these statements.

“It is sad that President Bush would use a speech to the Knesset on the 60th anniversary of Israel's independence to launch a false political attack,” it said. “George Bush knows that I have never supported engagement with terrorists, and the President's extraordinary politicization of foreign policy and the politics of fear do nothing to secure the American people or our stalwart ally Israel."

Obama has said several times while campaigning for the Democratic nomination he would meet with “friends and foes” of the United States, a position his rivals, including Hillary Clinton, have scolded him for holding.

“It’s time to end the politics of fear,” is one of Obama’s favorite responses criticisms pertaining to his open negotiation philosophy-- a refrain repeated in his Tuesday statement.

The White House contends the President’s “appeasement” reference was not specifically directed towards Obama. “There are many who have suggested these types of negotiations with people that the president, President Bush, thinks we should not talk to,” White House Press Secretary Dana Perino told reporters in Israel.

“I understand when you’re running for office you think sometimes the world revolves around you” Perino said. “That is not always true and it is not true in this case.”

McCain was asked on the blogger call if he believed Bush was directing those remarks towards Obama. “President Bush said he wasn’t talking about Senator Obama and I take President Bush at his word,” McCain said.

McCain held the call Tuesday afternoon after making a speech in Columbus, Ohio about his vision for America in the year 2013 after four years of President McCain.

My 2 cents
In times like these the overriding issue of EVERY election is national security. Obama is completely over his head and out of his league in this area and no matter what word games he plays he can't run from that. Hopefully the undecided voters can pick up on that, because I think THEY are going to decide this election.

Obama is just a pup.

my 2 cents pt. deux
'The White House contends the President's "appeasement" reference was not specifically directed towards Obama.'

Yeah, right.

But it IS nice to see them speak out for once.

What country did....
McCain run that gives him all this experience?

1 more makes a nickel
It's interesting to see BO speaking as if the democrat race is already over. He is now trying to sound more presidential, leaderlike, ready to assume the burden, yada yada yada (yada) - like THE nominee.

HOPEFULLY the nutty CA Sup. Ct.
and its gay marriage ruling will remind those people on TH McLaming McCain that he is the only mature, experienced, veteran, and adult politician running for president.

McCain Is Unacceptable

John McCain has not changed his mind about "Comprehensive Immigration Reform", amnesty, at all.

http://townhall.com/columnists/AmandaCarpenter/2008/03/28/b loggers_press_mccain_adviser_on_immigration
“John McCain’s position on immigration is very clear and this a question that gets asked at townhall appearances everyday in media appearances and has answered the question at least a thousand times before the New Hampshire primary,” Schmidt said.

He explained, “Any person who supports John McCain’s campaigns is a subscriber to John McCain’s views"

A vote for McCain is a vote for surrender of your country.

Your vote for McCain will be used as proof that you want amnesty.

Many of us see another amnesty as the end of the Republic, the stampede it will set off will be overwhelming. If we don't stop the inundation none of the rest matters. We'll be a banana republic before the jihadis can get us. There will never be another GOP president or Congressional majority. Importing voters for the socialists is as stupid as it gets.

McCain keeps saying "Secure the border first". We know that he means amnesty next. The plan is to get the border state Gov's to declare the border secure. Conveniently, they are all on board the cheap labor express. Then his good friend Ted Kennedy will bring back McCain/Kennedy and McCain can provide his good friends across the aisle with their new permanent majority.

I will not vote for amnesty.

renny
I guess I missed it. What ruling exactly did the California Supreme Court make about gay marriage? I lived in California (LA County) for 15 years until the beginning of this decade; since I moved away, I haven't paid much attention to what's been going on there. So I'd be interested about hearing about this decision the CA Supreme Court made about gay marriage. What, did the long-lost twin sister of Rose Bird wind up on that court?

Obamba is unacceptable, period!
Senior~ Obamba is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE, PERIOD!

On all grounds, for all reasons: stamped REJECT

my two cents on top of Max's two cents
Barry Obama and his cult of deep thinkers are living proof that any intellectual mediocrity can get into, and get through, our country's so-called elite universities.

The history of the world is the history of one group of "elites" after another screwing things up for everyone else, over and over and over again.

Monique
what if he wins?

Obamba animal cruelty just black culture
Obamba has made it clear he as no special interest in helping animals--EVER. Black power militants tend to take a concentrated effort to disregard any type of animal abuse. And YES, I truly believe Obamba shares a lot of his pastor's views, even if not all of them.

Case in point: Michael Vick and his thugs tortured and killed hundreds of dogs and what did the black power community say: “well, that’s just BLACK CULTURE YOU WHITES JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND.” Even whippie Goldberg showed her ignorance in stating that same thing as well.

Well, my big, BLACK Pit Bull “LiCORiCE” says color ain’t got nuthin to do with it, it’s just HUMAN HATE, plain and simple.

Leave it to a dog to have more intelligence than Obamba and any black power racists.

“Ask the animals and they will TEACH you…”

! BYE-BYE LA OBAMBA !

just say NO to "O"

Obama has no foreign policy
He claims he'll talk to tyrants Ahmadinejad and Kim Sung II but he's afraid to debate Hillary again.
He's afraid of ABC newsmen Gibson and Stephanopolos.
If he isn't constantly praised and petted, he is cranky and pouty.
Consider the calumny Bush has endured with little response, the nightly Letterman *presidential speeches* bit, the Letterman *stupid* joke and remember Bush has never stormed out of a press conference telling the media he's taken 7 questions, and he's done.
Obama is a joke as a candidate, and Geraldine Ferrara was exactly right when she said if he were a white former IL pol. presenting himself for president, everyone would laugh.

wrightsrong52
I say he will be REJECTED and will not win.

! BYE-BYE LA OBAMBA !
Thanks for the memories and special thanks for your Rev. Wright greatest hits videos! When we want a laught, we can watch the reruns instead of the Chales Manson interviews from Corcoran State prison.

! BYE-BYE LA OBAMBA !

Oh, by the way Obamba, drinking beer in a GLASS with your pinky extended while wearing a shiny girlie bracelot just AIN'T GONNA CUT IT.

Are you JOKING? THAT is supposed to make us think you're a "regular Joe?"

Beer in a GLASS?

lol !!!!!!!!!

! BYE-BYE LA OBAMBA !

MoniQue
How about Hillary shown downing a shot of whiskey in Pennsylvania not long ago? That seemed almost as contrived as Obama's photo-op with the beer.

Hmmm, come to think of it, if Hillary doesn't wind up becoming president this year, after the election she may just look at her life and think to herself, "I got my rightful nomination taken away by an uppity black man, the black people we did so many great things for while my husband was president stabbed me in the back, the women in this country who should have kissing my arse for what I've done for them turned on me, the MSM who have been brown-nosing me all these years betrayed me, a lot of my flunkies during the White House years abandoned me - and to top it all off, I'm still married to BILL CLINTON!" Might just drive her to take to the bottle in earnest - and STAY in it!

Chris Matthews vs. Kevin James
Chris Matthews just made Kevin James look like an ignorant, erratic clown. James made a reference to Bush's recent "appeasement" speech in Israel but had no idea of the history behind the comment made by Bush. Matthews would not let his ignorance off the hook and demanded for 5 minutes straight that James answer as much as he could about the history of the Chamberlain appeasement to Hitler. James knew ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about it. He simply kept getting louder and louder, calling both Chamberlain and Obama "appeasers." Kevin James talk radio may pass for conservative, but he has clearly demonstrated that he is not "intelligent." Remember the saying..."better to be thought the fool that to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."

The CA Sup. Ct.
just ruled for legalized gay marriage. I'm saying when Obama or Hillary is pres., the entire liberal-homo-femo-enviro-whacko agenda will be ours on national scale.

I blame the Dem's
for this war lasting this long. Let me give you a quote "mere strategy without unification of wills cannot suffice to strike fear into an enemy even if you have a million troops". All those who have fought Bush out of hate or spite have shown the enemy weakness and so have emboldened our enemy to fight longer and harder, which in turn results in a longer war with more casualties. Please remember that our soldiers need our thoughts and prayers to be with them! There is power in the spoken word and those who continue the path of descent give the enemy power and hope and can cause just as many deaths as those by the enemy. Nobody likes war but for us to ever win we must stand together and strong!

OK, LB8
You seem to be some kind of authority on the subject, so as to proclaim Chris Matthews a tough debater and judge of these things, over another debater.

I didn't watch. My disgust overall with Matthews in fact keeps me completely away from MSNBC; a lost cause.

What then; to you is the reason a conservative was unable to respond when Matthews challenged him on appeasement in history?

I am eager to see what YOU think appeasement (Chamberlain vs Hitler) means. Please explain your views.

Uncle Max
You should look into what Obama has said on matters of national security, especially his anti Iraq war speech. He is the only candidate who takes seriously the perils \America faces with Islamic radicalism and emerging China and the old menace Russia. McCain's a nice old guy whose only been able to run because he divorced his wife and married a very, very rich woman. Also, this news should sober any good American up, he is in with mega-nutcase John Hagee.

I blame the Dem's 2
The porblem with BHO saying he will just talk with all those who wish to do us harm is in the fact that those who have not listened to us in the past can see this as a sign of weakness and think that our country does not have the resources and/or backbone to stand tall and will strike us believing we are weak. I'm all for diplomacy before action but to those who have shown a pattern of thumbing their nose to us must be shown strength or we will parish as a nation and worse, we will parish as an American culture. Running from every battle is not the answer nor is war. The path lies somewhere in-between the two extremes. We must be careful this election becase of the enemy we are fighting to make sure that the next president has the EXPERIENCE to deal with battle!

To Taft...
Considering that BHO has Hamas in his back pocket ( ie, they support him) is NOT good. Flirting with terrorist groups does NOT show that BHO is looking out for the USA. IF you see no danger there then I really feel sorry for you.

Obama has no foreign policy
He says he'll talk to Ahmajinedad and Kim Sung II, but he's afraid to debate Hillary again.

He has NO military experience, has sent undercover goons to Canada to say all his blather about ending NAFTA is just campaigning, and sent other campaign goons to the Pentagon to say he won't do any of the things he's talking about on Iraq on either. That's because he's stupid and knows nothing.

He's a liar and a fraud.

Anyone who votes for him will make George Washington and the colonists who fought for this free country rotate in their graves.

Iran is THERE
The 12 step prayer says something about having the wisdom to know the difference between those things you can do something about and those things you cannot. McCain does not know the difference.

Attacking Iran, be it the training camps or the nuclear installations, will not make anything better. McCain's only hope is that it doesn't make things worse.

McCain's logic rests on one of two suppositions. One supposition is that Iran may not know what it doing, i.e., doesn't appreciate the consequences of what it is doing. Attacking Iran will then show them the consequences and they may change their behavior.

The other supposition is that Iran knows exactly what it is doing but doesn't think America can create any meaningful consequences. Attacking Iran then is meant to be a meaningful consequence.

The point is that McCain wants to change Iran's actions for the better. It's more likely that they will change for the worse.

McCain just doesn't know the difference between wht he can change and what he cannot.

So we should
Just talk to Iran, let them build nukes and wipe out Israel and then MAYBE do something? Unbelievable!

Heavens to Betsy!
McAmnesty actually said something AGAINST a Democrat?

The millinium has arrived, indeed.

We Need To Talk To Enemies

Brent Scowcroft Echoes Obama: We Need To Talk To Enemies
I agree!

HP-Brent Scowcroft, the national security adviser to presidents Gerald Ford and George H.W. Bush and a retired Air Force general, said on Monday that he agrees with the position, stated mainly by Sen. Barack Obama, that the U.S. would benefit from having direct talks with the leaders of its most distrusted adversaries.

“Absolutely,” said Scowcroft, when asked by The Huffington Post whether he thought the next president should meet with the likes of Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. “It’s hard to make things better if you don’t talk.”

a little hypersensitivity with Obama?
Bush could have easily been talking about Carter who, as you may remember, recently returned from an trip to visit Hamas...

to Taft (or is it Daft)
[Obama] "is the only candidate who takes seriously the perils \America faces with Islamic radicalism"...? Who is it who wants to leave Iraq post haste and leave the oil rich country along with its revenue to the possible control of terrorists?
Wake up!

Don't count on it.

Not if/when we fight the enemy.

Much in this Country is unacceptable
Much in our Country is unacceptable and McCain as President ranks right up there on the unacceptable list. Unfortunately, the Dems are not helping us out here! There's always Bob Barr on the Libertrian line.

reply to maximus,

Why do we every day meet clueless people who think like this--?

[Oh no1] and the Dems are not helping us out here! There's always Bob Barr on the Libertrian line.

You must be mad. If Dems can't "help us," show me how Barr is going to help, who first off is nothing comforting; but won't do anything except siphon off a smattering of useless votes going to the trash barrel ? Don't waste a good vote on non-starters! Your vote is gold ! If you think our candidate is a gamble, at least put the gold where we might get something in return besides SQUAT !

How many brain-dead people do we have to put up with, this election year ?

Brave monk
Do you know AQ supports Bush? It means squat Hamas supports Obama as long as Obama has shown, and he has, that he supports Israel, and has a sane ME policy.

So BO admits he is Mr. Appeasement
Look at how fast Senator B.O. identified himself as the anonymous target of Bush's statement.

Seems like Barak Obama himself, believes that Barak Obama supports appeasement.

bryan
"Who is it who wants to leave Iraq post haste and leave the oil rich country along with its revenue to the possible control of terrorists?

Obama, actually says we should leave Iraq very carefully. I real a lot about Iraq and I see no possibility of terrorist getting control of the oil. Either it will be the Kurds in the North, who already have al lot, the Sunnis, who we armed and helped get rid of AQ, and who will not give up oil over their dead bodies, or the Maliki government. Do you have evidence of a terrorist group that could take the Oil? The real problem though, is Iran is pumping off their oil to India and China. We really, really, need a smart ,and moral new leader!

sans pareil, unfortunately right
Yeah, Sans--

You have it perfectly. Talk is for losers, considering who these opponents are. They think of us as monkeys and swine; not diplomats. Most of all if we give them a woman diplomat. To these fanatics women are wombs. Hardly that much; beasts of burden who carry baby car-bombing martyrs in the womb.

Appease them so they can see you as: that eunuch. Neutered and pitiful, to whom they give commands, not diplomacy.

It's a sick order; the Islamic hieirarchy of Iran, Palestine, Syria; who only respects force. See Iraq; how respectful it is, but they at least were only nominal Muslim crazies. The war made them respect you and me. If we'd gone TALKING to Saddam; as Madeline Albright did; or Warren "Blink" Fitzpatrack; a sissy--

He'd be thrilled today; still murdering anybody who dared open his mouth in Iraq. They LOVE force. Not all this comedy we call diplomacy. You can't appease somebody born for homicide.

McCain verses Obama's Foreign Policy...
Doesn't matter WHO's foreign policy, republican or democrat...BOTH will continue the same foreign policy because, the power elite globalists in the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations)who really call the shots for BOTH, from the top, will be in control as always.
McAmnesty McCain and Obama-nation will continue to sell out America with MORE illegal, un-constitutional FOREIGN AID, MORE no-win, undeclared wars,MORE "outsourcing of American jobs" with free trade instead of fair trade, and AMNESTY for 30 million illegal aliens already here. Stop Global Warming!
At 8:05, "Taft" writes: "I real [sic] a lot about Iraq and I see no possibility of terrorist getting control of the oil."

But they don't have to. All they have to do is blow up a pipe-line or a pumping station or two. Then the terrorist in Chechnya will see the press gotten in Iraq, and they'll do it too. Then India and China will have to pay more for the oil they will be buying from the Saudis. So the Europeans will buy from Venezuela. Of course that will raise the price we pay for oil. So unless you are sucking your milk straight out of the cow, the price you pay for a gallon of milk will also go up.

Of course since less oil will be pumped and shipped. Less will be burned. And this will help stop Global Warming. Then Al Gore will be out of a job. Which might make that Iraqi instant pull out worth while.

Hey, you could be on to something!

Taft
What I've heard from Obama indicates he wants to start leaving right away regardless of what the generals in the field have to say about it.
Those who think that Iran and Syria will not go in immediately to fill a void are naive. Iran is already supplying the 'insurgents' (read: terrorists) with weapons to further the chaos. They would be happy if Al Queda Iraq take over, happier still if they (Iran) could control their actions (like Hamas).

dreadnaught
I just saw the Matthews/James clip it was kind of funny in a pathetic sort of way.

James went on a tirade about how Bush was right that the desire to talk with Iran was like Chamberlain's appeasement. So Matthews simply asked James what the appeasement was that he was talking about. For about 5 minutes Matthews kept repeating the question while James kept talking about the dangers of appeasement, with no hint of what it was. And finally admitted that he had no idea.

Matthews was not looking for a deeper answer than the agreement to give the Sudaten land to Germany. But James did not know enough history to even venture a guess.

The Bush quote
The most revealing aspect of the Bush quote is that he pretty straightforward admits he doesn't know what it is too negotiate. His quote confuses negotiation with debating. I would hope that anyone who voted for Bush thinking he had some clue what he was doing (particularly the second time around) feels like an idiot when they see that he thinks that negotiation is about convincing the other side that one is right rather than its actual meaning of working to find enough common ground to advance each sides interests.

negotiate with terrorist?
The only thing a terrorist will accept is surrender! You think we could have negotiated with hitler? You are dreaming. Look, speaking as a soldier I can tell you exactly how to get the troops home sooner..support the USA. Everytime someone says we are losing the war or we should not be there the enemy hears that and is emboldened and then they fight harder battles and more American Soldiers get killed and here at home more people get upset and are ready to throw up their hands in surrender. Its an endless cycle and that is what has made this war last longer. Learn to unite and stand behind the USA and you will see the difference in the battlefield and then soldiers will come home sooner. We are there now and need to stay and get the job done. Period.

What?
So you say Mac is not qualified to be president. What makes Obama? You say that Iraq wants us out? Who in Iraq? You say Bush is an idiot? Funny how he managed to get elected twice, fool over 40 countries into going to war, graduate from harvard-with a higher GPA then Kerry, but he probably fooled the professers there, tricked his way into flight training and flew convair f-102s, and of course was governer of Texas. Oh, those foolish texans. Yep, Bush is an idiot. Now, what have you accomplished?

Senator Obama said:
"It is time to turn the page on eight years of policies that have strengthened Iran and failed to secure America or our ally Israel," Obama said in a statement. And everybody forgot to notice that...
Bush handed Israel a two-state solution.

How's that for not appeasing terrorists?

HOW ABOUT OBAMA HIMSELF UNACCEPTABLE
just another of the number of idiots endorsing a candadate that has no business running for president!! like i said and now i see many others are saying the same thing "affirmative action" presidency!!

obama is being awarded the nominee to fill the quota even though hes the least strongest of the two and is now on whats called "on the job training" and once if he does get in the white house he will be on an "internship"

what does that tell us about the intelligence of all these endorcements he's getting? it tells me there are more dumb people with no sense in this world then i previously thought!!

Bush was in Israel..remember..
There is a large Israeli appeasement movement that jeopardizes its own security.

What makes Obama think it was all about him? Guilt by appeasement...maybe..or just guilt by being guilty.

Obama seems to think that he has a worldly outlook because he spent several years in Indonesia as a child and attending mosque. I believe McCain spent several years in IndoChina as well as being born in Panama...so who is the more worldly?

Obama's mama
As an anthropologist she should have spent more time studying indigenous peoples instead of marrying them.

Good Article

I can normally judge the quality and truthfulness of an essay by the amount of spin from the usual suspects. It is amusing.

The analogy with Hitler is apropos...we can say the same for Hideki Tojo. After the attack on Peril harbor, Japan expected the US to negotiate a peace. Had Sen. Obama and the liberal left of today been in power, suffice to say, we probably wouldn’t be having this conversation.

"First Obama has pledged to the American people that if elected President he will remove most if not all US troops from Iraq and the region within 16 months of his administration. And what will he get from Iran in return?"

Appeasement
It is a known fact that the actions of the hippies/liberals during the Vietnam War prolonged it and gave hope to North Vietnam. they were defeated after Nixon let us bomb the hell out of them.

Jane Fonda and her ilk gave them hope and they hung on until congress gave oin a nd cut off the funding.

the same thing is happening now except the hippies/liberals are in congress. Democrat liberals who were hippies/liberals during Vietnam and are doing the same thing now.

Pelosi and her gand actually go right by appeasement to surrender just in hopes of gaining politically.

They do not care one bit about the country and they despise our military.

Obama is a baby in terms of national security.

John Konop
McCAIN: “They’re the government; sooner or later we are going to have to deal with them, one way or another,"

OK, so i watched the video. I don't get your point.

McCain is correct. At the time of the video, Fatah had lost the election and was (is) no longer in charge. Yet, the administration was (and still is) continuing to deal with Fatah as if they and not Hamas had won the election. I think what he is trying to say without directly saying it, is that such a track is kinda dumb and pointless. And that the Bush administration was in a state of denial over this and sooner or later if we really want to keep this channel open we are going to have to deal with Hamas and face the fact that it was Hamas that won that election and not Fatah.

But, you can deal with them in many ways. By phone. By sending the assistant to the assistant of the undersecretary of state. By simply stopping the foolishness of talking to Fatah as if they won the election.

Or, you could do as Obama has suggested he would do. That being, to invite the leaders to Washington for direct talks at the White House... Presumably over a halal brunch in the Rose Garden.

Bubba... understates Appeasement
Robert Aumann, who specializes in Game Theory, won the 2005 Nobel Prize in Economics for a mathematical proof of basically the following concept...

In International Relations, where there is effectively no police force, compliance with agreements becomes a tricky situation. The parties will only comply if they feel they have something to lose by not complying. Hence, the harder you push via diplomatic means the less likely you are to achieve a goal. The harder you push, the more the other side will understand they have absolutely nothing to lose and they will not comply and demand more.

The only effective diplomatic weapon available therefore, is _time_. The faster you demand an outcome it will either take longer or you will lose out entirely. The longer you are willing to wait out the current situation the higher your degree of success.

Unfortunately this bodes very badly for We Want it Now Democracies.

I found it interesting
that within moments of the Presidents speech, the dems were going ape. Talk about hitting a sore spot. He never even mentioned obama, but they sure recognized his weakest point and sought to insulate him.
If the shoe fits describes this very well, obama is just plain stupid when it comes to keeping this country safe, naivete doesn't come close, this guy is clueless or he is devious and in the control of someone. Either way he doesn't have this countries best interests in mind.

To give that loonytoon in Iran any prestige by direct talks with the POTUS is stupid, instead he needs to be made very aware that any attack on Israel will result in what will be left of Tehran not needing electricity as he says his nuke progarm is all about. It will glow all by itself for 1000 years.

You sound like you have all the answers.People ,such as yourself, have no clue about the WORLD.President Bush could have had the same "Effect",with his speech, without the aside. But,no he went out of his way to present a contrast. At the school I attended, not a public school,we were taught;A Text without a "Context" is a "Pretext".Mr. Bush Tried to establish a PRETAX.It was a "Clumsy" attempt and was meant to be discovered.I would say the Republican party got just what they wanted;Place the focus on "Terrorism" and away from this "Economy".It was political "Trickery" and a "IDIOT" fell for it, YOU...

dreadnaught
You make some good points.

For all the McCain abstainers out there who are thinking about voting Libertarian, you should know that the Libertarian position on immigration is just as liberal as McCain's.

That is the only thing that has kept me out of the Libertarian party. Otherwise, I agree with almost all of their philosophy.

obama negotiates
youve got problems cionservatives. it seems to me that if you are going to raise hell with oback for suggesting that he would negotiate with our enemies youre going to have to condifer this"
ronnie dearest mananged to take his finger out of his ear long enough (actually mommyn dearesr did it for him) long enough to negotiate face to face with every rusian ruler who rulled during his term. i know were geting older and more forgetful but if i remember right the ussr wasdefinitely an enemy of ours. and i dont remember ronnir sweetestt having any extnsive or even minor foreign policy experience. do you???

2 nixon (member him) negotiated face to face with china, another enemy,

ill take your criticism of obama if you must, but you are going to have to wip out ronnie darling and nixon at least in foreigh affairs.
by the way, the Senator that Bush was quoting as part of his silliness about Hitler and 1939, the one that talked about if he could only talk to Hitler. was Senator Borah, a conservative republican most noted for his expertise in foreitn affairs.

Too Much Hubris
And no sense of reality...

Talking is not the same as negotiating. Communication at least prevents escalation and misunderstanding. It is not appeasement.

We are quick to call states enemies when they have not declared us enemies. Example; Hamas is certainly an enemy of Israel, but they have not attacked the US in any way. They are our enemy simply because they are Israel's enemy. This takes us out of the role of neutral arbitrator and reduces our influence.

We demonize our so called enemies too much. So much we back ourselves into a corner and mae it difficult when it finally comes to talk with them. Then people here at TH scream appeasement!

Iran like it or not is a strategic player in the Middle East. They cannot be ignored. First why are they our enemy? What harm have they done to the US? They actually cooperated with the Bush Administration after 9/11 to help track down terrorist .making overture to the US, then Bush labeled them part of the Axis of evil.

Iran is a strategic competitor in the Middle East that is a threat to Israel. So by default they are our enemy. Should this qualify a state a san enemy of the US. Remember it was the US that overthrew Mogadishu and installed the Shah. We backed Iraq against Iran. The US has shown more hostility to Iran than Iran toward the US.

We have not talked to Cuba for 50 years. We can see how well that has succeeded.

McCain offers more of the same outdated Cold War mentality. His Foreign Policy (like Bush) is stuck in the past. No new ideas for a different time and place with declining US influence around the world.

Obama's Foreign Policy "Unacceptable" Sa
We all know the old saying, "If the shoe fits, wear it." It looks like Obama and his left wing whitewashed friends are griping because the shoe fits all to well. The inner cowardice of their hearts have been exposed. I even wonder if they've not forgotten the colors of the American flag.

This gives Mr. McCain a beautiful source of leverage in the upcoming national campaign. I hope he riles them, flusters them and uncovers their lack of patriotism every chance he can.

Obama gets his undies twisted
so easily. What a whinny, pouty, pathetic baby. Obama thinks everything applies to him - he is the center of it all - and that s the only reason he dissed Wright because Wright called Obama what he is - a (lousy) politician who will say anything. It's all about the BO!!!
Appeasement has always been the cause of death and destruction historically. Bush is right, and Jewish voters should remember that!!
But Obama doesn't know history - Mr. part-time Law Professor, Obama doesn't even know the USA has 50 states!! He's said he's going to campaign in all "57 states"!! Without a TelePrompTer and a brain, he reveals his ignorant self.
Obama - the man who would be, but he can't.
McCain knows more about foreign policy, has served in war, understands the enemy, served on foreign relations committees, been in the senate for years, knows foreign leaders, is a fiscal conservative, anti-big government, anti- wealth redistribution, and anti-social engineering. McCain has proven his love for the USA.
Obama has only used the USA for his own ambition and enrichment.
Obama is a socialist all the way!
President McCain will be a smart and honorable leader.

China was not what Iran is.

The USSR was not what Iran is.

The USSR was a major super power. Reagan had Star Wars development going at full speed, and then he invites Gorbachev to Washington. Reagan had the situation well set, while Gorbichev was under pressure and had what to lose.

This is not the same as inviting a little pip-squeak nation to Washington just because they are threatening to build and use nuclear weapons. If you do that, you'll have every two-bit dictator from every 4th world country doing the same thing to get their audience with the leader of the free world.

Stupid is an understatement.

"First why are they [Iran] our enemy? What harm have they [Iran] done to the US?"

You slept through ALL of 1979 and 1980. Now THAT is what i call a power nap!

"We have not talked to Cuba for 50 years. We can see how well that has succeeded."

Except for a problem Kennedy got into with the USSR 46 years ago. I don't see where this Cuban policy has failed. So they are not our friends. Big deal, i don't see where this has hurt us. That is unless you have some special need for Cuban cigars.

"McCain offers more of the same outdated Cold War mentality."

Well we lived through Cold War. I would call that success. Don't mess with success.

how will Senator Mccain handle Saudis
There were 13 Saudis on the airplane on 9/11. Will he confront the Saudis directly? What will be his policy with them they also do not acknowledge Israel!!

When an adolescent
walks into a room, he/she doesn't see the others in the room but rather is concerned about what all those people SEE IN THE ADOLESCENT! ME ME ME ME ME ME

Obama is a prime example of arrested development! He thinks any and every mention made relates to HIM! Hello??? Get a grip, Mr. BHO, there are others in this old world of ours.

I COMMEND President Bush for making such a statement - and before Israel's people is the perfect place to do so! I'm sure he has been more than disgusted to have to sit and watch as Ms. Pelosi and former president Carter cowtowed to the terrorist leaders...chitchatting. If Barack Obama has said he would do the same thing, then, hey "if the shoe fits, wear it!" and don't be sniveling that someone is talking about me. If you make such statements, then stand up for them and say Yes, I did! He is such a total wimp - he whines about everything! And yet he feels he can lead our country????

P.S. Add to the list of people he is afraid to speak with Bill O'Reilly. Even HRC has decided it's okay to appear on Fox. Who would have thunk?? The Dems refused to appear on Fox for a debate and now.........hmmmmmmmm she says its coverage is the fairest?!?!

Stedes
People like you have continually used the phrase "declining US influence around the world" with absolutely no proof that it is true. Please provide me one, just one example of declining US influence. And isn't it the libs who are constantly complaining that we have no business trying to influence policy in other countries? You can't have it both ways. Appeasement is not a policy. It is surrender to any or all of a rogue nation's demands. You may want to be part of the "New World Order", but I'll take the policy of not talking to any of these idiots over surrender any time.

Obama's immigration policy vs McCain
John McCain has stated on more than one occasion that he learned a lesson from the so-called amnesty bill debacle. He has since reversed his stance on endorsing the Kennedy-McCain Immigration Reform bill. However, here is a statement from Obama's website:
“The time to fix our broken immigration system is now… We need stronger enforcement on the border and at the workplace… But for reform to work, we also must respond to what pulls people to America… Where we can reunite families, we should. Where we can bring in more foreign-born workers with the skills our economy needs, we should”

— Barack Obama, Statement on U.S. Senate Floor, May 23, 2007

Unite families? Sounds like we should just bring in every sister, brother, mother, father, aunt, uncle and third cousin these people have. And what skills do Americans not have that these illegals do? I'm telling you, if you're an immigration policy voter, you at least have a chance with John McCain, you have a chance of a stampede with Obama.

Let me get this straight ...
Jimmy Carter just met with terrorist leaders, and has met with the Kim Jong Il (spelling?) and Obama thinks that this reference to appeasement was about him? President Bush's remarks are totally appropriate in the time and place he made them.

Sagredo
Why did they do that? Why do they hate America?

If you understand the history of US involvement in Iran, The US has overthrown popular leader who wanted to nationalize the oil industry and keep US oil companies out. So the US installed the pro-us Shah with Savek the secret police trained by the CIA to terrorize and torture its citizens.

The hostage situation was blowback for these policies. All you see is the evil in Iran, not the evil in our policies. We made them our enemy...

This is the problem. People do not understand our interventionist polices have cause and effect.

“Please provide me one, just one example of declining US influence”

This is hard to measure. However there are several international surveys that support this claim. Some Articles to read:

"Appeasement is not a policy"
I agree. I think where disagree is how you define appeasement. Talking is not appeasement. If you do not talk and keep communication open, then mistrust and hostility grows.

Afraid of McCain
So you are afraid McCain will want amnsity after he secures the border. Well get the Liberal Democrates out of Congress and vote in Conservatives and they will not send McCain a bill that allows amnsity. Ever think of that?

Remember, only Congress can pass a bill that has amnsity written in it and this Congress we have now have done that so many times, we can't get bills through the President that this Nation needs passed (because every worthwhile bill has tax increases and amnsity attached). Congress is to blame for amnisty of illegals, not the President.

Understand how things work in Government and then re-think McCain.
Joy of Iowa

shhhhh Mccain is giving a speech
a long time ago in a land far away (actually yesterday) republican presidential candidate Mccain gave a speech which he himself described as important. It was actually part of his "the
IMPOSSIBLE DREAM" CAMPAIGN AND BELONGED IN THE PLAY mAN OFLA mANCH ALONG WITH THAT OTHER don quixote.

nobody noticed.

Re: Obama's immigration policy vs McCain

I think you could sum things up with:

McCain may let some through...
But, Obama will be sending them bus tickets.

Obama out of touch
Obama is so rapted up in himself that everytime someone says anything, he runs to the Left Wing Media and crys Wolf.

I cannot understand why anyone would support him, is it because they are afraid they may lose their government income or what? He offers this Nation nothing and expects the voters to love him.

Not this voter, he is dangerous to this Nation and a danger to himself, because he just don't get it.

Joy of Iowa

Terrorists and Obama
Obama's stated willingness to negotiate with terrorists is fair game. McCain should hammer on this every day from now until November. All the promises in the world on health care, education, etc are worthless if we are left vulnerable to Obama's friends in the world of radical Islam.

Reply to impeachbush
Obama is dangerous to begin with because of his domination by the verbal terrorist Reverend Wright and his association with Louis Farrakhan. If he can't spot a nutbag racist like Wright for what he is, or tolerates in any way an anti-semite like Farrakhan, how can he handle real terrorissts?

Impeachbush is delusional
If you think that the 9/11 hijackings are a "fairy tale", then that explains why you are supporting Baraq Hussein Obama. You are as delusional as Obama about the nature of radical Islam. I think Bush made mistakes in Iraq by not being sufficiently aggressive and ruthless, but on balance we are better off for the war in Iraq.

Appeasement
Appeasement, literally: calming, reconciling, acquiring peace by way of concessions or gifts (the verb 'to pay' also goes back to the Latin 'pax' = peace). Most commonly, appeasement is used for the policy of accepting the imposed conditions of an aggressor in lieu of armed resistance, usually at the sacrifice of principles. Usually it means giving in to demands of an aggressor in order to avoid war. Since World War II, the term has gained a negative connotation in the British government, in politics and in general, of weakness, cowardice and self-deception.

A famous example is Neville Chamberlain's foreign policy during the period 1937-1939, when he pursued a policy of appeasement towards Adolf Hitler's expansionist ambitions.

Note: Appeasement DOES NOT imply one should not "TALK" with people, organizations or nations that have beliefs, policies, or support actions counter to yours.

sagredo
not onkly are you wron but you are wrong. on treagan met with russias top leadersop of that u=you are in error and are wrong ragan met with russias leaders three times during his tenure. i can understand your forgetting about 2 out of 3 because he probably did too. kennedy negotiated with russian leaders face to face. nixon invited and met palestine leaders two or three times. ford didnt do anything except pardon niixon so he doesnt count. clinton met with palestinian leaders. face to face. the list does go on. bush is well versed in his history. face to face negotiation with our enemies has been a part of out foreigh agende ever since the continental congree sent representative to britain during the revolutionary war to negotiate with Great britain. please sont tell me the iraniand are different.. of course they are, they are iranians. and americans are americans aand palestinians are palestinians and samoans ar.....you see how it goes.????

Romney covered obama
Perfectly. When obama said he would bomb in Pakistan, and sit and talk to the Iranian leader, Romney said"he went from Dr.Strangelove to Jane Fonda in one week"!

Amanda wants to Negotiate?
What is there to negotiate about. Terrorists and Al Quaida declare a war of holy Jihad against the government and people of the USA.
They Attacked us and killed thousands. Now what shall we talk about, `Isreal'.
How is it any of our concern that they cannot win a stupid war with Isreal. Why do `WE' have to support them over Isreal. What do the citizens of the US have to do with the Jews using weapons better than Arabs do.
We offered them weapons and training in the 40s but `NO' THEY GOT BETTER DEALS FROM RUSSIA' Well go blame the Russians for selling them crappy equipment and training.
The nations that are against the state of Isreal are Shi-ite controlled countries, like Syria, Iran, Iraq and dictator nations like Lybia, Sudan, Eygpt was, Yeaman is.
Those Sunni states are ina fragile balance with so many hot heads around them.

SICK OF BOTH PARTIES?

.....Want to stick it to them and really get their attention? ...

.....Then don't stay at home and sit the election out ...go to the polls in November and vote for a STRAIGHT LIBERTARIAN TICKET ...

.....The Demoboobs and the Repugnuts smugly think that they have us by the short hairs because we have nowhere else to go ...let's prove them wrong and knock them upside their heads ... vote for Liberty ...vote LIBERTARIAN ... http://WWW.BOBBARR2008.COM .....COLOSSUS
