Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama sought to temper news headlines in the aftermath of his longtime friend and former pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s controversial media tour by denouncing Wright’s recent remarks.

Obama called Wright's conspiracy theories about the U.S. government and praise of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan "ridiculous" and "offensive" in a hastily-organized news conference in North Carolina.

"When he states and then amplifies such ridiculous propositions as the U.S. government somehow being involved in AIDS; when he suggests that Minister Farrakhan somehow represents one of the greatest voices of the 20th and 21st century; when he equates the U.S. wartime efforts with terrorism, then there are no excuses. They offend me. They rightly offend all Americans. And they should be denounced, and that's what I'm doing very clearly and unequivocally here today."

In recent days Wright engaged in several high-profile media appearances to refute the negative news coverage of his church. Many political analysts agreed Wright only called more attention to himself and gave reporters more reason to question his relationship with Obama.

Wright had stayed relatively quiet until last week when he spoke to the New York Times, participated in a television interview on PBS and made speeches before the NAACP and the National Press Club that were carried by major television networks.

In those appearances Wright repeated many aspects of his most offensive remarks, including the U.S. government?s responsibility for creating and spreading the AIDS virus.

"Based on this Tuskegee experiment and based on what has happened to Africans in this country, I believe our government is capable of doing anything," Wright said.

Wright was aggressive with reporters, refused to criticize Farrakhan, theorized black and white children have genetically different learning styles and said any attacks that have been made on him were also an attack on the black church.

The consequent media coverage was almost entirely harsh.

Obama’s history with Wright began when Obama started attending Wright’s church in Chicago’s more than 20 years ago. Wright married Obama and his wife and baptized his two children. Obama was so enamored with Wright he titled his autobiography “Audacity of Hope” after one of the pastor’s sermons. Wright was also once considered Obama’s “spiritual adviser.” But as reporters began to examine Wright’s church, which preaches “black liberation theology," boasts an “unashamedly black and unapologetically Christian” motto and encourages members to adopt their “Black Value System,” people began to question Obama’s worldview.

Attention increased on Obama’s roots to the church when ABC News obtained tapes of Wright giving anti-American and racist sermons. These clips dominated news coverage and ultimately led Obama to deliver a major speech on race relations in the United States.

Obama repeatedly defended Wright until today.

“Whatever relationship I had with Reverend Wright has changed as a consequence of this,” Obama said.

So now you are offended?
You weren't offended for the last 20 years, and you obviously weren't offended enough to get married elsewhere or have your children baptised elsewhere -- but now that you are running for President and possibly seeing your nomination slipping away, NOW you are offended? Yeah, right.

Sorry, Barack, but you are indeed the very politician that Wright claims you are. Wright rarely speaks the truth, but he spoke the truth big time when he called you a politician.

Barack Obama is so totally unqualified to be campaigning for anything, least of all POTUS -- I hope his many known, seedy and pathological associates just keep speaking out all over the place and doing him in, little by little.

Ploy
I think this may have been a ploy to give Obama another chance to denounce him. Trying to save his skin from the past months of not denouncing him.

Any thinking person already knows what Obama thinks on the issue. Too late Obmama!

As the Candidate Fumbles...
...Operation Chaos continues!

The chickens have come home to roost...Birds of a feather have flocked together for two decades. Now they are coming home to roost....about time.

Beat at his own game
Wright was told to take a back seat when Obama launched his campaign because his rantings might be a little bit too much for some people to handle (probably typical white people). Obama shoved him aside for his own political expediency. Maybe Obama made a deal with Wright last yeat that if he won the presidency he would let Wright out of the closet and give his a place of prestige in the new Obama Whitehouse.

Kept in a corner for over a year, oops, Wright was finally outed in all of his looney rantings. Obama, consumate politician, was forced to deliver "The Race Speech", with the MSM swooning.

But Wright couldn't take being dissed by conservative talk radio and tv. He said he used to play a game called "The Dozens", but he would not allow the press to insult his Mama, or his Mama's religion..., and I think this was the impetus for his rehab tour this past weekend.

Wright proves to be a worthy opponent of Obama, beating him at his own game. Obama is a politician and has to say or anything in order to reign supreme over this country. Wright has proven that he, too, will say or do anything in order to reign supreme in his little world.

Obama has been beat at his own game.

"I saw your mama at the top of the moon...the ripples in her belly said 'come back soon'!"
Obama is now forced to denounce Wright, his pastor and mentor of 20+ years, in order to save his political skin.

Obama has just been beat at his own game.

WOW
And this is the guy we're supposed to trust to care for the state of our union? Either he is a complete dolt or the most conniving pol in modern times. At what point does 'AIDS invented by the government to oppress the black population' not offend you?
Sorry, Barack, you can't run away from these comments in the politically expedient way that you are trying. As you said, you can no sooner disown Rev. Wright than you can disown the black community.
Barack's chickens are circling. I suspect they will be roosting soon.
Meanwhile, Rezko is only just starting to heat up. Mr. Obama is about to find out just how hot the summer is going to be, notwithstanding the foolishness of global warming. This heat is most certainly man made-Barack Obama style. It couldn't have happened to a better man.

Politician
Voters must remember Wright's words when considering Obama's refutation of his pastor. Wright has said that Obama must refute in order to survive politically. This idea is now in the conversation. The fact that Obama is only now starting to condemn, which he did not do in his Philadelphia "Race Conversation" speech, merely confirms that politics is the motivation behind Obama's newfound disgust. The fact that Obama thought he could somehow skate under the radar about his church in a national campaign is either naive, or it shows that he realized the leftist media was fully imbibing the Obama kool-aid.

hmm
Its like a man who for 20 years doesnt buy a smoke alarm. Only when his house is burning down he decides to be anti fire. Not very surprising that Obama is anti Wright right now... He just got his house torched.

Obama walks a fine line
I almost feel sorry for this guy. He can't complelty dis-own Wright, as he would alienate a large block of voters.
He's waited so long to say anything, that anything he does say will look like political pandering, and he will not be belived.
He is truly stuck. But he made the decision to join this church, either for political gain or because he belives this stuff...and which is worse to his block of voters?
Yep.
Stuck.

Obama stuck with Wright, Michelle and...
After listening to the Messiah's spin, I was struck that he still waffled as to his own understanding of black liberation theology and know that he will never denounce his own wife's leftist statements about the USA> They just are in the frame and fabric of his foundation of socialism and pacifism. Both evil and deadly for America's future. And the Hildabeast is no better but she is far more devious and clever than the Incompetent.

On Blackwell's list
Grandma, Geraldine Ferarro and now Rev Wright under the bus. Look out Michelle might be next!

Why wasn't BO quizzed on his connection with Robert Blackwell Jr. BO takes a $112,000 "retainer" from the guy over 14 months starting in 2000 and Blackwell gets $320,000 between 2002 and 04 from the state of IL to promote his pingpong tournament. BO wrote IL officials on his state senate stationary urging the state of IL to give Blackwell the money.

LA Times story makes it obvious that BO was really in a financial bind in 2000. The monthly "retainer" from Blackwell was about 60% of BO's monthly income. Of course BO and his love of government transparency did not easily disclose his relationship with Blackwell. The retainer went to a law firm which passed it on to BO. BO then reported the income as coming from a long list of clients at the law firm. Can anyone say BO was in Blackwell's pocket and wrote whatever Blackwell wanted? Those "special interests" have a way of biting you in the @ss!

BO campaign officals say anyone making a connection between the retainer and subsequent IL state monies flowing to Blackwell is nuts.

Judgement
This is supposedly the tempered version of Rev. Wright. He was brought to the church to infuse it with a strong sense of nergery for the Black Liberation Theology which Wright espouses. Many of the moderate members of the church left when Wright started his hysterical preachings. In the meantime, Obama joined and stayed at that same time. He even identified Wright as a spiritual mentor and chose him to marry him and his angry wife and baptize their children. He has repeatedly exposed those same children to this fiery hate speech.

So, now, with the made for TV appearances that Rev. Wright has made, suddenly Obama is offended. Does anyone believe that regardless of the subject the Reverend Wright was less bombastic in his church proceeedings than when compared to the recent televised appearances? This man is a charlatan and Obama is his useful idiot. He has been played like a cheap fiddle. If the white man can't be forgiven for this nation's 'original sin' of slavery over 150 years after the Civil War (of which most of todays whites are not decendants of slave owners and most of todays blacks are not decendants of slaves), why does Barack think he should be forgiven the sins of his personally chosen adult association with an ignorant race bating spiritual mentor?

See 'ya Barack, wouldn't want to be 'ya. (Accents on the second and fourth beat for all you left sided brain, bitter Hillbill,y bible thumping, gun toting, immigant hating, flag loving Americans)

retainer
To clarify Blackwell paid BO $8,000 per month for 14 months totalling $112,000.

20 Years Too Late Barack - BYE BYE......
Barak is back to his former defense, 'i have never heard Wright sound like that in private or in public'. What happened to UNCLE Wright? Guess Obama is finally disgusted by Wright's views on America and Americans. Okay, now Obama should explain Ayers, and Rezko and ooooh Michelle's lack of pride in country - 'down right mean!". Obama is DONE! He may wimp into the nomination but McCain does not need 100 reasons, he just needs one to win with 45 states. The truth does set us free, and today Americans are free from the lie that Obama can unite this country and bring 'hope and change' after being mentored by this angry, racist lunatic. Do liberals finally get it? or should Wright do another tour to put everything within context LOL!!!!!!!!

Chickens
Hey Barack, speaking of chickens, I think you beautifully demonstrated that 'you can't make chicken salad from chicken sh!t.' The parade has been officially rained upon.

So what is it.....
March 17 - Obama ahead in the polls.....

“I can no more disown him [Rev Wright] than I can disown the black community.”
BHO

April 29 - Obama dropping quickly in the polls....

“Whatever relationship I had with Reverend Wright has changed as a consequence of this.”

Or even better, it's like a man hearing his home fire alarm go off for 20 years and doesn't leave the house!

DocTony, you mean SOUND judgement?
You made my day with the last paragraph. Bring it home for Barack, please. Somebody needs to tell him the time considering it's taken him over 20 years to figure out who Wright is when most americans (elementary kids included) figured out Wright is an angry lunatic when he stated then defended his lie that the govt. lead by 'typical white people' created AIDS to kill blacks. This should have been Obama's epiphany moment but I guess he had not decided to run for president and still needed the 8000 votes in Wright's church. Am sensing he tried brushing this one off then settled on Beyounce's words 'you must not know about me' when saying Wright was wrong to call him a 'politician' when he {Obama) was committed to bringing a whole new brand of politics i.e. black panther and black liberation theology to the whitehouse and in general to the 'bitter and frustrated gun totting bible thumping mexican hating small town middle class america'. LOL!!!!

CKHustler
I have heard someone else say this may be a way for Obama to officially cut his ties with Wright and get some sympathy, besides.

He says he is appalled at what Wright said yesterday. He said nothing Obama has not heard many times over.He just said it to the general public.Maybe the message was not ready for prime time, but we heard it loud and clear.

The left-wing press is already trying to patch up Obama's image since the 'wildman'came out yesterday. We knew that would happen. His news conference today was more rehab.

We all know politicians cannot be trusted. We'll see if this was on the up and up,or just another sly trick, like."how can we fool 'em today"?

Soros' protege
Poor George. His #1 protege seems to find himself in a bit of a pickle these days. But even if Obama goes down in flames, Soros still has 2 more candidates in this race, so he wins no matter what. Hillary is okay with Soros, too, and even if McCain wins in November, Soros can still do his bidding through McCain, although it will be a bit trickier without Obama and his swooning masses.

I wonder how much more money Soros and his minions will dump into Obama's campaign to keep it afloat after this current tempest?

My take - two Obama's
The problem here is that Obama's white personage just does not understand black religious heritage. But Obama's black personage does and tried to explain that a month ago. Now his white personage is outraged (racist) and is denouncing Wright. Tomorrow, Obama's black personage will meet with black leaders and make peace. The next day he will meet with Muslim leaders (wait, that makes three Obama's).

This gets a little complicated for me as well - not knowing when I am listening to white racist Obama and when I am listening to tolerant black Obama.

Reminds me of the years with the Clinton's - how they seem to always want it both ways. I was for the war until I became against the war but voted for it and thought it would be good to vote against it, well never mind.

Obama, good luck with all this.

Oboma's ears ?
Fore Oboma to tell us now that the first time in 20 years he ever heard his Rev's bare faced lies and hate Whites and America was yesterday with a 20 minute speech and a 20 minute at the National Press Club is about like Bill Clinton telling us "He didn't have Sex with that Women " !
Liberal liers all !

Speaking of Bill Ayers
These events are the Todd Gold equivalent for Barack. Gold was the bumbling terrorist in the Weather Underground who successfully exterminated himself when his self made bomb, intended for a dance, exploded in his face killing himself and two accomplices.

Instead, we have Barack tinkering with a human time bomb equivalent. Barack, no doubt overestimated his ability to control the bombastic Rev. Wright. Instead, Obama also learned that sometimes things don't work out the way you plan. It was politically expedient to befriend Wright. It was politically calculated to 'distance' himself from his looney Uncle J. Wright. Now it has been politically devastating to be conveniently offended by Rev. Wright.

Barack is learning that presidential politics is not a pseudo-episode of 24. The American population gets it alot more than the peddlers of populist tripe like Obama believe.

Hey Barack, that ticking you hear is the last seconds of what you once thought was a promising political career.

Self-preservation & sabotage?
Several pundits have theorized that if Obama is elected, then Wright (and really ALL the race hustlers) will be out of business, and it is beginning to make sense to me. What do the race hustlers sell? That blacks are "grinded under" and have no fair chance in this unfair, hateful country. If Obama becomes President Obama, that puts that lie to rest. How can such a country elect a black to the highest office in the land? (I would add that the lie has already been done because of how close Obama is to the Dem nomination.) So it is time to retire Wright, Sharpton, Jesse, NAACP, et. al.

Oh if he wasn't in first place
How fast would the Dems drop this guy if he were in second place right now?

Still waiting for the real black church to speak up and educate America about people/churches like the one Wright used to pastor. They are giving good people a bad name.

In all fairness
Wouldn't this be a boring campaign if these two weren't doing what we all knew they we capable of? All the lying, cheating (Florida) and being themselves.

Talking about 'change and hope' ......
Barack's change message has begun with disowning or is it distancing himself from Wright. Now we can have hope that he will join a normal church or just go back to worshipping in a mosque where a good Imam will not impact his presidential campaign in a negative manner. Obama's idea of 'change and hope' combined with 'sound judgement' is .......a JOKE!

RealcommoneSence - shhhhhh
Don't give away their plans.

At what point do the followers of these yahoos wake up?

Sarah
What I really meant was how much fun I am having watching all my Liberal 'friends ' who suffer from 'White Guilt' stumble all over themselves trying to explain away Obama's relationships with bona fide anti-American scum. Like this was some type of accident which befell BHO. Better yet, given enough time, I'm sure these dolts will somehow come up with a self-deluded explanation that this is some type of white racist conspiracy against Obama. They are the proverbial crew on the Titanic rearranging the deck chairs. Even a rat knows to abandon a sinking ship.
Has anyone else noticed the trolls are lying low. I guess they're waiting for their talking points from HuffPo or CrazyKos or maybe Dr. Dean. Either way, I suspect that even they are a bit embarrassed by this. Oh, wait, what was I thinking? They have no conscience and no soul, so why would they be embarrased?

Remember Baracks OWN words
"I can no more disown him [Wright] than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my [typical racist] white grandmother."

Pastor
Spirtual Mentor
Performed Barack's marriage

DocTony
Rev. Wright is not anti-American and I think he has made some good points. The problem is that he has made himself a part of this process and it can only further hurt Obama. I know everyone wants to associate Rev. Wright thoughts to Obama but they have two different takes on the world... but in this context, that doesn't matter. The issue is what is political useful and the Q&A session on Monday given by Rev Wright was not useful to him or to Obama.

For many people on TH is doesn't matter because you guys were not supporting Obama anyway. In fact, you're not even supporting the Democrats. So you opinion carries no weight.

Rev. Wright should have known that the agenda of the press club was to obtain nuggets and he offered a bag full. I think it's over for Obama and that is a shame because he is a better candidate than Hillary Clinton.

A couple of things
First, it's not like any of you esteemed Townhallers' were going to vote for Obama so, no loss there.

Second, this entire Rev. Wright affiar is a glorified McCarthy hearing (again that doesn't bother most Town Hallers as you likely believe McCarthy's paranoia was just dandy). But for those of us outside the lunatic fringe a couple of quotes may be helpful in considering the current so-called controversy:

"It is now evident that the present Administration has fully embraced, for political advantage, McCarthyism. I am not referring to the Senator from Wisconsin. He is only important in that his name has taken on the dictionary meaning of the word. It is the corruption of truth, the abandonment of the due process law. It is the use of the big lie and the unfounded accusation against any citizen in the name of Americanism or security. It is the rise to power of the demagogue who lives on untruth; it is the spreading of fear and the destruction of faith in every level of society" Truman 1953

Saving their livelihood
Black on black crime, blacks destroying their own neighborhoods, blacks not getting ahead. It has always been the white governments fault. That's what is taught in black churches by their leaders (Jackson, Sharpton, Farrakhan, and Wright) to name a few. They blame the government for all their troubles and the president is the top target. These black leaders can't let a black man be president or they will have to start blaming one of their own or start taking resposibility for the own lives and families like Bill Cosby has been telling them for years. The sermons they preach today are just updates from the sixties. Blame instead of taking positive action to fix their lives.

Edward R. Murrow 1953
"We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. We must remember always that accusation is not proof and that conviction depends upon evidence and due process of law. We will not walk in fear, one of another. We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason, if we dig deep in our history and our doctrine, and remember that we are not descended from fearful men."

tubbs
"Second, this entire Rev. Wright affiar is a glorified McCarthy hearing"

I should have known it would only be a matter of time before you one of you lefties pulled out your favorite whipping boy. If you want to defend a despicable snake like Wright, that is your prerogative, but spare us the red herring.

This Looks Like a Setup
I'm not usually one to subscribe to conspiracy theories, but this reeks of one. At this point, we are asked to believe that:

1. Wright just decided, all on his own, to go out and stir the controversy up again, AND that, for some reason, Obama has now decided he is offended by what didn't bother him very much as little as a month ago.

or

2. Wright went out to stir this up again specifically so that Obama could finally say he disagreed strongly, and thereby, perhaps, resuscitate his floundering campaign.

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to go with number 2.

@Lew
Dude, save it, please. One, you couldn't care less about the black community so your spew is waste. Two, how is it that Sharpton and Jackson always get thrown in these conversations? There are hundreds of powerful black community and political leaders.

Justpaul

You are wrong. Rev. Wright went in defending Rev. Wright without regards to what it would do to Obama. He and his churuch have done some great things in Chicago and he wanted to defend himself. He did a poor job of it and I expected more from him. Obama would have been happy just to have it go away.

Libs on Wright
You people (libs) keep defending him. Conservatives know how to pounce on our own and call it like it is. You libs have a history of defending the lowest of lows until the bitter end. (not to be mistaken with defending the weak). Learn objectivity.

Sandy Berger and William Jefferson are two that come to mind. Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton may be considered a few more.

Tubbs
You would do yourself a tremendous favor if you actually read the true history related to Sen J. McCarthy regarding his confirmed concerns that the government was being infiltrated by communists during a crucially sensitive point in history. Instead, you demonstrate your ignorance except for your unquestioned acceptance of the liberal mischaracterization of the activities of Sen. McCarthy.

You have most succinctly demonstrated your closed minded Liberal bias. This is the same philosophical failing which will keep Democrats away from the reigns of power. Your dismissal of TH readers as unworthy of consideration demonstrates your lack of consideration that the vast majority of this country is offended by the relationship between Obama and Wright, Obama and Rezko and Obama and Ayers (check out the break-down of votes in PA).
Continue to delude yourself. It makes the process that much easier. Continue to surround yourself with the conspiratorial thinking Libs that you apparently associate yourself with. If and when you choose to break free of your chains of ignorance, there are countless periodical which can disabuse you of your wanton ignorance. Best wishes in your pursuits.

Baracknaphobia
Well, damn, it's about time the country developed a case of baracknaphobia. Someone should try and meld obama's haughty mug onto the body of a tarantula and put it on pins for people to wear. Jusr looking at him makes me want to barf...

justpaul writes: This Looks Like a Setup

"I'm not usually one to subscribe to conspiracy theories, but this reeks of one."

I'm not sure that I agree with either 1 or 2, but somehow I just have one of those "gut feelings" that these is something very sinister going on behind the scenes.

red herring?
Not at all.

Rev. Wright has said a couple of off the wall things, most notably that the U.S. government vreated AIDS. As far as I know, that is absolutely false.

He also said that America was responsible for 9/11 since America has committed atrocities itself. He said "God d@mn America" and that chickens have come home to roost. I'm not sure that rises to macacca level, but that's beside the point because OBAMA DIDN'T SAY ANY OF IT.

This is guilt by association and it's not much different than McCarthy hearings which sought to "prove" that Americans were disloyal through any questionable association he or she kept.

Obama may be guilty of choosing a controversial church, but that's about it. All the rest is paranoid guilt by association.

Anne
Hi! You sure can't take anything at face value today. Hillary set up the Press Club meeting yesterday,Drudge says. I wonder why? Something smells, though.Something rotten in Denmark?

I don't even want to get into the tit-for-tat things but let me name a few: Oliver North, Liberty University, Pat Buchanan, Harry Kissinger, Conrad Burns, George Allen, Jesse Helms... and let's not even go into the events over the years... and the sexual deviants in the GOP go way beyond what Clinton did.

Doc Tony
"You would do yourself a tremendous favor if you actually read the true history related to Sen J. McCarthy"

The "true history" as told by that paragon of historical accuracy, Ann Coulter? No thanks. I'll stick to the decisions handed down by Earl Warren's Supreme Court which went out of it's way in numerous cases to undue the paranoia that McCarthy sank our Nation into.

As to the rest of your statement which basically boils down to "lots of people agree with me, that's why your Party has trouble winning elections." I don't arrive at my conclusions about what's right and wrong based on popular opinion.

Any guesses who's name fills in the blanks? A few hints would include: Nazi, Third Reich, Little Mustache.
So I guess we should just ignore all the hate the man espoused and perpetrated onto countless millions, huh, cause he did some good things? Are you for real. Oh, wait a minute, Sen Byrd (former Klansman) is a Democrat after all so maybe you are.
Before you flip out, I'm not in the slightest way trying to equate Obama or Rev. Wright with Hitler, but the absurdity of the foundation of your comments deserved an equally hyperbolic example.
When Reverend Wright recants his hate America speech and the foundation that white vs. black America is the current which energizes this political season, then we can speak of his good deeds. Until then, he can wallow in his own self-pity in his $1.6 million home in the predominantly white(>98%) gated community he lives in. By the way, Sneaker, why the gates? Who is Rev. Wright trying to keep out? Or is he trying to keep all his white neighbors in?

Yes they do!

When faced with real facts, these liberals will stubbornily hold their ground. If there isn't a mental disorder to describe this anti-social behavior, we should come up with one.

Like "Debilitating Unconscious Disobedience Syndrome".

Or just "DUDS".

mccarthy? I think not
ok let's calm down a bit.

the McCarthy hearings were about a crazy guy accusing innocent Americans of being Communists. nobody is accusing anyone of anything that they themselves haven't said--that is, nobody is putting words in Rev. Wright's mouth; he's saying all this himself.

and nobody's accusing Obama of being a crazy racist like Wright. what some of us ARE saying is that Obama's judgment is lacking. we wonder why it took him 20 years to finally hear the hate-filled speech of his pastor/friend/mentor. we wonder why his wife is only just proud of America now, since her husband has been running for president. we wonder why we should vote for someone who is WAAAAY to the left of most of the people in this country.

I don't think Obama's a bad guy--in fact, I think he's a pretty standard-issue politician. I just don't think he should be president. but to admit that their guy is "just" a politician is too hard for the koolaid drinkers to say. so they accuse us of McCarthyism and racism and any other "ism" they can think of. and they blame the Clintons or the media or the tooth fairy, when the fact of the matter is they should blame their candidate, who's pretty much brought this all on himself.

This is too early in the game
All of these controversies, if not some, about Obama will probably be forgotten in the fall, especially when the democratic party spin doctors and the liberal media are working very hard to spin the controversies to make them good for Obama.

Recall the Swiftboat Veterans' "Unfit for Command"? It was released in the late summer of 2004 and the killing effect in the fall was maximum.

But certainly these controversies are kisses of death for Obama--but only if people still remember about them in the fall. But people have a short memory.

Rowly: Naw, not Denmark! :-)

Right here in the middle of the demo party...

What I'm so amazed at is that we seem to be surprised!

What struck me, right off the bat, was the this church provided at $1M+ home for a retired pastor, plus all the other perks.

That was a 'clue' that something was amiss.

My old parish was a VERY WEALTHY Anglican parish, and when our beloved Rector of 30+ years retired, we give him a "big gift" but NO WHERE near that kind of money.....

Now, with what's been unfolding in the past week or so.... I do believe at some point there will be "ties" and "connections" that will astound us all.

There is no one so blind as those who ..
There is no one so blind as those who will not see! Hey, far-left-coaster! This is you! Wright not a hate monger? Anyone who thinks othewise is a McCarthy? Who are your trying to convince: yourself, or those who can really see? Give me a break! :-)

Okay...
Now that we know what you are against why dont you tell us what you are FOR? This is the problem with unknowns who come out of nowhere and try to go for the presidency; their lack of public scrutiny means that everything new that pops out has a disproportionate effect on people's perceptions. The days of a Jimmy Carter emerging, winning a couple of primaries and becoming the prez are over. Thats why even a crippled wreck of a candidate like McLame could win... his opponents were just entering the national stage while he was already a known quantity.

A correction or two
Obama has been playing this out to this end gradually distancing himself as increasing public awareness drew negative polls. It was not ABC who broke the story it was Sean Hannity and he did so over a year ago and had Mr Wright on his co-anchored Fox News program. The claim this story makes that he defended Wright until today is FALSE. What he did today was declare war against him. Wright didn't come out of his hole to help Obama he was angry Obama had not defended him and all he had to say. What this is really about is Hillary finding a way to get Wright in the public eye. Or that she may have convinced "The Black Church" that only a white women can provide them a forum for "scamnation". Because she is white she can both embrace and distance herself from the black church while retaining an inferior minority status as a woman.

DocTony
I don't find Rev. Wright calling out America for its faults as being hateful. I think he made clear that there are cultural differences within America but this is a man who volunteered to go to war out of duty while our current White House residents hid like cowards.

In no way has he said whites are inferior to blacks... only that America has a history of inequality and there are still issues of inequality yet to address. Now, the thing with the government creating AIDS, that is wacky. My issue is not so much with the content but with the timing and the presentation. Given the opportunity to address the issues, he did so in a way that it is easy to ignore the meat of it and in that sense, it does no one any good except to move newspapers.

As for how and where is chooses to live... why is that even an issue?

Good points although some of your colleagues are indeed accusing Obama of being a crazy racist (and a Muslim to boot!)

Still good points.

It had to come
I watched Obamas news conference and actually felt kind of sorry for him, but this BS has to be exposed.

The hate peddled by Rev Wright deeply offends me as a white American citizen. Our country has changed the gross error of slavery, and many died doing it. But the Wrights, Sharptons, Jackson, etc, just keep stoking flames of hatred against white people, to empower themselves and keep the masses in line. It foments anger between the so called "have nots" against the so called "haves".

I never heard Obama consider how WE might feel about being judged so unfairly and hatefully.

Rev Wright wears a pastors cloak,(giving black pastors a bad image) to legitimize his hateful speech but a real PASTOR of Jesus would never teach hatred.

This stuff has Saul Alinsky style of divide and conquer all over it. Wright and Obama are both students of Alinsky. Google that and find out yourselves. Read the rules for radicals. You'll see them how they have been used here.

The radicals have been poised for power and got so excited by their prospects that they exposed themselves.

Thank God.

"the McCarthy hearings were about a crazy guy accusing innocent Americans of being Communists"

That meek little black lady in the cloth coat who worked in the code room at the Pentagon, which Clooney used to illustrate how crazy McCarthy was in 'Good Night And Good Luck' was found, after the KGB files were opened in the 1990s, to have been a spy for Stalin. Many of McCarthy's 'victims' were also either spies or being worked by KGB handlers to support Stalin's policies. Remember, Stalin at that time ran a system of death camps which imprisoned tens of millions. We were at war with the communists in Korea. McCarthy has been made an icon of right-wing unreasonableness by the people who supported Soviet policy from the 1930s to its end in the 1990s and who support our terrorist enemies now.

Obama the politician
Its pretty bad when it takes your career long pastor to call you a "politician" in the true sense, while Obama's message is as an icon of change we can believe in. That kind of political expedience from him is "change [I] can believe in" .... and learned to exppect as standard fare.

No Brain
Didn't the good pastor say that Blacks learn with one side of their brain and Whites with the other (Perhaps he can be the next president at Harvard!)? If that's true, then it looks like Obama got the non working halves from each of his parents.

Wright Upstaging Obama?

With the flambouyant, radical Wright now performing on a national stage..
I have the impression that Wright is using some of his time in the limelight to shove Obama under his bus. Not only is Wright not hiding his Marxist, black liberation theology; he seems to be elevating his Bud, Screwy Louie, rather than his longtime "politician" friend, Barack..

The Black, anti-American, Racist Lunatics are coming home to roost..

Tubbs
You might want to demonstrate some intellectual curiosity and integrity and pursue the full story. Clearly you enjoy living in the echo chamber of the Liberal chorus.

Might I suggest some balance regarding your one sided perception of history:

1. Do the names Owen Lattimore or Irving Peress ring a bell.
2. Consider reviewing recently declassified information from the FBI, NSA, or the Pentagon for papers related to Senator Joseph McCarthy. (It's easy. Use this thing called the Internet. Al Gore invented it just for you to perform this task)
3. Consider reviewing recently released papers from the former Soviet Union which affirm much of what McCarthy asserted.
4. Consider reading the recently published book by M. Stanton Evans which cites (with extensive footnotes) many of the articles referrenced.

Or, continue to be the rube of the Liberals and spout their carefully chosen rhetoric. I know it won't be easy to search out the truth. It's a lot easier just to believe such paragons of truth like Edward R. Murrow who undoubtedly had no political bias. What's next, you're gonna tell me Grampy Walter Cronkite was the truth and nothing but the truth? At what time do you grow tired of embarrassing yourself. (Notice I didn't have to referrence Anne Coulter even once in my response. How disappointed you must be.) I apologize for your public education. Obviously we're not spending enough money on the corrupt teacher's union.

payback
Part of this is payback and part of it is the media wanting more slop to wallow in. Nothing Barak Obama has said or done has given anyone a sense that is a terrorist, Mulsim, or a racist... This has all come from a picture, his pastor or his elementary school.

But here's the truth. With Barak being a black man (mixed race technically) it was going to be very easy to make him into a boogey-man. White people will always believe the worst of a black man if given an opportunity.

After 20 years
After 20 years of listening to the racist reverend, Obama is now trying to act surprised?

I have a feeling this thing is going to torpedo Obama’s campaign. I think many white people are willing to vote for a black, but nearly all whites are not willing to vote for a man who may (likely) to be a closet racist.

This situation is not too different from the situation David Duke found himself in, when he tried to grow beyond provincial politics he got shot down. He preached that he was not a racist, but too man white people (and most black people) could not give up their suspicions that his KKK days were only in the closet, and not truly in the past.

Politicians are salesmen and really good a deception and lying, and the public knows this. Now that we have seen what is hidden behind the curtain, we will not be able to buy the sales pitch.

Where, oh where, is
Rev. Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farakkan? How come they are not coming to the aid of Rev. Wright or Barack Obama? They must be lying low in this tempest. Heaven forbid they should get themselves injected into something so controversial. Charletons all of them!

Cat got their tongues? Let us hear what they have to say about all this!

Personally, I'd like to hear what Al, Jesse, and Louis all think about Jeremiah's teachings. It would help my left brain comprehend whatever it is that I must be missing. And let's hear what they have to say about Obama's denouncing of one of his own.

The silence is deafening...

Losers ALL
Wouldn't want to be in Claire McCaskill's (D-MO) high-heels today or for that matter any of the other 'traitorous women' who are backing Obama either. They must know by now the good ship Barry is taking on water at an alarming rate and that Mrs C isn't about to throw them a life preserver. Hillary takes no prisoners!

Same for ALL those 'powerful' Dems (Pelosi, Reid, Lahey, Kerry, Kennedy etc) who either 'ordered' or 'hinted' that Mrs C should "drop out of the race for the good of the party."
Hillary, should she pull off the victory will now look like the party's savior and everyone who opposed her will have to pay the price!

We can only wonder if the "smoke-filled back-room" deal making for the super delegates and eventual coronation of Queen Hillary hasn't already begun! Heck, it may already be a done deal!!

But, shock of shocks, Sean Hannity was RIGHT!

We need to fact it... Wright is the Sharpton of the "theology circuit."

You are not hearing from them becuase unlike Rev. Wright, they know anything they say will be used against Obama. So why not let Obama rise or fall on his on accord? This is what Rev. Wright should have done. Obama is not a closet racist - but that doesn't matter. If he can't be proven as one, then the next best thing is to associate him with one. Not that I think Rev. Wright is a racist, but what I think doesn't matter. Again, it is very easy to make a black man into a monster... its part of the history of this country and it is no surprise that it is happening now.

Public Hangings
How many of you want Public Hangings? Would you be happy if you could hang Blacks and Liberals?

The Southern Ideology has taken over the country. "The South will Rise Again!"

It's funny how nationalistic this country has become. You people that have been on the wrong side of every major issue throughout American history, but still have such a strong voice. You people have No Shame. To be so wrong, but to continue to be so vocal.

Jimmy
Where he lives is pertinent because it contradicts everthing his sermons espouse. Why not choose to live the example that you preach? You know, in the community with the people you profess to live your life to help. Maybe it's do as I say not as I do for Rev. Wright.

I confess that I do not know if Rev Wright volunteered or was drafted during the VietNam war. He is a Marine and Navy Corpsman. I appreciate and honor her service. Yet, now he mischaracterizes the past and current Marines as terrorists and attempts to draw relativistic comparisons to the Roman Legions which crucified Jesus Christ. Where is the Semper Fidelis in that statement? How is demeaning the American military, the protectors of our very liberty, anything but un-American?

Hmmm, did Abraham Lincoln serve in the military? FDR? William Jefferson Clinton? Do you know what a red-herring is? Benedict Arnold was a patriot and Revolutionary War hero until he committed treason. Should we forget that point. Neither John Adams nor Thomas Jefferson served in the military at the founding of our nation. I guess they don't count, eh?

I am not equating Obama with Wright. I, as did Obama, feel that his relationship with Wright is a legitimate issue. Couple that with Rezko and Ayers (and those to be named later) and you have a trend of relationships which I believe speak volumes about this man who wishes to be president. Jimmy, if Obama thinks it's a legitimate issue, why can't you? Hiding behind a bunch of historical mischaracterizations won't make this go away. I'm sorry your candidate has imploded. It must really hurt.

It's time for a lynching...
"After 20 years of listening to the racist reverend, Obama is now trying to act surprised?"

I think everyone was surprised by Wright's recent performance...

Maybe if Obama bowed real low - like Thomas Sowell or one of your other house neegrows, you'd feel more comfortable...

Can't Help But Wonder
How much of Jerry's $10 million house did HillPac pay for?
Whatever it was...sure looks like it's as good an investment as was her investment in cattle futures - don't ya' think?

Please instead of volumes, how about a sentence - what does this say about Barack Obama?

Specifically - as we know that John McCain was involved with convicted criminal Charles keating - and cheated on his wife, how does he get a pass and Obama don't...

because Obama is a neegrow...

Jimmy Got It Right
I appreciate the explanation. America, most recently the conservatives, uses black men to scare people as a matter of course.

Does it matter that Wright gave up his student deferment specifically in order to serve his country. (Compare that to the armchair patriots like Limbaugh, Hannity, Prager, and Medved) That he served honorably for 6+ years? Does it matter that he built a church from 87 congregants to 10,000. Does it matter that his congregation is 90% white? Does it matter that he has a 35 year record of Christian activity..feeding the hungry, educating the ignorant, housing the homeless, giving hope to the hopeless?

Nope. None of this matters. Why? because he's a black man and he can be used as a bogeyman to scare you.

You folks sure do love them sound bites looped over and over again. You must. They are all that matter to you.

One & Done Senator?
Will Barak Hussein Obama even be able to win a 2nd term as Senator after 'dissing' Rev Jerry like this?

Barak in four years is more likely to be "Just Barry", lamenting like Brando, "I coulda been a contender"...

After showing his weak-@ss jumpshot it became obvious he didn't know how to play D_E_F_E_N_S_E either.
AND NOW IT'S TOO LATE FOR HIM TO LEARN.

Maybe he should have taken Bill's earlier offer of "second on the ticket"...then none of this would be happening to poor Barry.

MDoggggg
I'll spell it out for you:
Rev Wright , Bill Ayers and Saul Alinsky all espouse strong anti-American Marxist views.

Have you read either of Mr. Obama's books. In each he reounts his days as an agry youth, experimenting with drugs, philosiphising with his classmates about the heinous crimes of America and the righteous path of pseudo-Marxist policies.

Then, as an adult, he joins a church which speaks of Black Liberation Theology and spouts race-bating anti-America rants of his own choosing. (or did Whitey force him to join nand remain for 20 years?)

When he wanted to buy a house he couldn't afford, he partnered with a corrupt sleazebag named Rezko. Obama, himself, acknowledges it was a bonehead move.

How many more relationships like this are out there? I don't care if there aren't any more. These examples demonstrate that Obama is a poor judge of character and beholden to his own personal agrandizement despite his eloquent word.

So MDoggg, does that clear it up for you? How disappointed you must be that it has nothing to do with his mixed racial background.

Hey MDogg
Given Obama said "He could no more disown Reverned Wright than disown the Black Community, and given his disavowel of Reverend Wright today, should I look for you at the Obama rally where he disowns the Black Community? How can I find you? Will you be wearing your Che t-shirt or you Chairman Mao hat?

Guilt by association
is not the issue now. Dems keep saying he can't be blamed for what his friends or associates say/do now or in the past. The question is: are Obama's past and present associates the very ones with whom he would surround himself or appoint if there were an "Obama administration?"

Would Ayers be the Secretary of Education? Maybe Rezko will be Secretary of the Treasury and Wright- Secretary of State, what else?

Hey King
How'd that voting break out in the PA primary go? Catholics, Union members, white females, white males, black females, black males, college educated vs non college? Looks real good for BO, huh? Oh, wait, the Super Delegates can steal it and give it to Hillary. That ought to make 97% of 12% of the US population real happy, huh?
Only the Democrats could deconstruct a process as perfectly as they have. The fact that a Republican even has a chance is a testament to the Democrats stupidity. Keep the faith!

Tales from the liberal plantation (I):
Leaving aside Wright's content thing, it is mighty enjoyable to watch the liberals' contortions in this matter. Bellow is a 04/26 HuffPost article by one David Wiener which, I am sure, any conservative/republican will find adorable:

Dave Winer: Why Is It So Quiet After the Moyers-Wright
Interview?/HuffPpost, April 26, 2008 | 01:15 PM (EST)

I expected a roaring debate in the political blogosphere
this morning, and on cable news after the Friday night
Bill Moyers interview with Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Instead, there's eerie quiet. The most I could find was this post on Protein Wisdom saying that Moyers didn't play hardball with Wright. It's true, he didn't. Instead he did what I wish more journalists would, he interviewed him in a way that helped us get to know the person. He let him speak his piece, so
we could listen.
There's so much to admire about Rev. Wright, but first,
the shame of the professional media, who hounded not only Wright, but members of his congregation, including a woman in a hospice, to try to uncover more dirt about Wright and thereby embarrass Barack Obama.
Wright isn't running for office, he points out, it isn't
his job to get our vote, it's his job to help his
congregation, to help them understand the world they live in, to help them do better in that world, and to prepare them for what they believe comes in the afterlife.
Watching Wright, I wondered if Sean Hannity's preacher
could stand up to the kind of objectification this man has withstood. What about Tim Russert's? How about the people who are close to Charlie Gibson and Andrea Mitchell? And how about the CEOs of Time-Warner, GE, the Sulzbergers and the Murdochs? These people have never run for office, they've never been vetted or elected. Could they come out so well after being put through the wringer that Wright has been through. (Cont'd)

Tales from the liberal plantation (II)
(Cont's) I think the silence comes from the fact that
there still is some humanity in the press and in the
blogosphere, and those who watched Moyers and really
listened to Wright, realized that he's not a liability to Obama, he's an asset. At least some of the polish, the quiet confidence, self-respect, intelligence and grace we see in Obama must have rubbed off this man.
Watching Wright gave me pride in being an American, and
shame at the same time, for coming from a country so
willing to objectify and villify this person before
checking out whether the characterization was accurate.
Even the supposedly courageous and thorough NY Times calls his oratory "racist" in an editorial in today's paper.
Based on what? I've watched the sermons that have been
excerpted; if these are racist, then every other preacher in the US is racist too.
Wright says the religion of the people on the deck of a
slave ship must be different from the religion from the
people under the deck. On the deck, god is justifying the practice of slavery, and below -- god gives them hope that someday they will be free. My people, the Jews, understand this very well, it's part of our tradition. We've just celebrated the holiday of Passover, a feast that's all about the pride of an enslaved people. If we're still telling the story, passing it down from generation to generation, after 3000 years, why should we be critical of the African-Americans who are telling the story of their enslavement, which ended only 145 years ago, and whose manifestations are still with us today. (Cont'd)

Tales from the liberal plantation (III)
(Cont'd) We, the United States, have made mistakes, and
those mistakes are as much who we are as our triumphs. The failures leave behind people and their culture, their music, their legends, their religion and their hopes. Sure it seems strange when you hear it for the first time, but that's good! Because the second time it's not so strange, and eventually it becomes part of our melting pot, and enriches all our lives.
If you haven't watched the Wright interview, make the time to do so. You won't be sorry.

Really? Tubbs?
"This is guilt by association and it's not much different than McCarthy hearings which sought to "prove" that Americans were disloyal through any questionable association he or she kept."

Your side does that all the time. If McCain went and talked to say the Council of Conservative Citizens or was a member of that group or perhaps say the League of the South or even Sons of Confederate Veterans, you would be calling McCain a closet racist--remember what happened when I guess it was Lott who spoke to the CCC?

Akagi
Tubbs won't be able to answer for a while. If he has any intellectual integrity he is currently researching the truth regarding his poorly chosen analogy to McCarthy. My guess is he's standing in line for his copy of Grand Theft Auto 4, but I'll hold out some misbegotten hope. My guess is Jimmyshoe or MDogggg will be happy to point out all sorts of erroneous examples to diffuse Obama's culpability in relationships he chose to foster. Oh well, they're Liberals, what should you expect.

Misanthropicus
Very well said.

the new oblahma
first he throws old racist granny under the bus while he defends the flame thrower wrong. Now that wrong has become a liability he must likewise be sacrificed to further the oblahma canidatcy. Within the next few days, the oblahma will also sacrifice ayers as his next sacrificial goat to shore up his bona fides to gain the nomination.

It seems that the oblahma has learned from the experts, the clintons, on how to attract loyal followers only to cast them aside when they are no longer useful.

That then only leaves the oblahma with dumping miss hateful, his victimized wife.

One could argue that loyalty to friends is one thing but to defend the indefensible only to toss them aside when convenient tells all the oblahma is your typical calucalating dim who values nothing other than his own ambition.

The problem for the oblahma is that opnce he enters into damage control when does he finally get everything under control. But it further proves he lacked the knowledge to keep his friends close and his enemies closer.

But the real winners become the missus clinton who can start sleeping nights knowing his current nightmare is under control and the american people who are spared the dims new messiah for hope and change. It turns out mr wonderful had feet of clay and no convictions or principles

Revolt on the plantation.
It is beginning to look as if Barak is bucking the solid control the pastors have had in black communities for 40 years. The first indication I got was when he did not provide walking around money in Philadelphia. Now this.
I think Wright was defending his power when he said this is all an attack on the black church,
I would be very happy to see this corrupt system challenged on behalt of all the children who are getting lousy educatiopns.

Misanthropicus
Considering the way the so-called "Reverend" Wright was thrown under the bus by someone who attended his church for 20 YEARS is rather telling, don't you think?

Here's what God says:

"Love the LORD your God with all your heart, and all your soul and all your strength, and love your neighbor as yourself"

"Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks"

"Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you"

I'm sorry, but I don't perceive a lot of love from the reverend for any community but the black community, but I could be wrong.

In this photo
Doesn't it look like he has aged considerably in the past few months? If he's stressed this bad during the campaign, whats gonna happen if he actually gets POTUS?

Concerning his statements. Either Obama is a utter moron for not recognizing what Write believed after knowing the man for 20 years or he is lying is pants off. Taking Michelle the Proudless and William the Bomber into consideration, I would say the latter.

More for Misanthropus
I don't know what kind of preacher the so-called "Reverend" Wright is, but I question whether or not preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ is high on his list.

I recall seeing things regarding "black liberation theology" that he clings to, and I wasn't impressed they were biblical at all.

If he's preaching a different Gospel than the biblical Gospel of Jesus Christ, God says "let him be accursed"

Attack on the Black Church?
The bible says that those who believe the Gospel are members of one body, the Body of Christ, and all who believe "whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free" are members of that one body.

...so why is a distinction made?

MDoggggggggg & Co.
MDoggggggggggg and Jim "athlete's foot" shoe:

It's beyond amazing: here is a black man (obama) who was given all the chances in the world to be president because he (seemingly) rose above all that tired black victimology stuff and said "Yes we can" instead of "yes we deserve to be given everything because some white people almost 200 years ago put us in chains and all I got was this lousy t-shirt...and flat screen tv, and section 8 housing, and free healthcare through medicaid, and great hubs on my Lincoln, and affirmative action, and set-asides, and quotas to get into college, and financial aid" etc, etc. And we're supposed to elect this guy on his word, because he has no record except of serving far-left causes and espousing a marxist class-warfare mentality to government. Hell, he even got a pass on all that, and that would never have happened were he white. And now that all his filthy association are coming to light and showing just how supremely unqualified and lacking in judgment he is, you two have the nuts to basically say "well it's because white America will never give a black man a chance". You just keep saying that. The more you say that the more you paint obama as the racial candidate. If you two stains can't see obama's campaign as the slow motion train wreck it is, that's your problem, but I will just say no white person told obama to foster all those relationships.

Jack-off
Jack:
does it matter to you that Lee Harvey Oswald was a veteran? Thought not.
P.S. my previous sattement applies to you, re: you, MDogggggggg, and JimShe are all race baiting numbnuts.

misanthropicus:
I'm happy to help you see the racism in Wright's
oratory that you've somehow missed.

When Wright claims that America invented AIDS in
order to commit genocide against blacks, he is
repeating a slanderous lie that unfortunately
has some traction among some less-educated
blacks.

But Wright is a well-educated man who assuredly
doesn't believe this laughable conspiracy theory
himself. So why does he make these claims?

The only answer I can come up with is that he's
stirring up racial hatred in order to keep the
collection plate full.

If you can come up with another reason, I'd love
to hear it. Put it "in context" for me.

Is Everybody Happy?
Everyone who is trying to figure out Wright's motive for extending his 15 minutes and as he does pretty much just hammering nails into Barry's coffin need look no further than the Rev's present 'occupation'. And I don't mean as a 'preacher'.

Jerry Wright, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and ALL of the rest of the race baiters, as well as a goodly number of Democrat politicians will find themselves out of 'work' if Obama becomes POTUS.

Where would the claim of the 'rampant racism of the white man' be if a black man can become president?
Sure they would still be plugging away but the their claims of "the white man keeping the brother down" would be laughable with a "brother" (even a half-brother) as POTUS and the donations that make up their personal fortunes would dry up.

As for the Dem politicians? They would have to worry about more competition from ernest & deserving black candidates who would have the endorsement of the President, which then splits the Dem voter base and the massa's Kennedy, Kerry, Leahey, Reid etc. would find it hard, if not impossible to hang onto their power.

So in reality, none of them want Obama to ACTUALLY WIN this thing.
The Dem plantation owners are ALL hoping the 'gesture' of ALLOWING him to run is sufficient to assuage the African-American & black voter!

The 'Race-Baiters' see a failed run as more ammunition for their claims of "racism" against the black community! Keep those dollars pouring in folks!!

It's a win/win for them all. The only 'loser' will be Barry.

While I think Rev Wright is a racist attempting to cloak himself in religious self-righteousness... I DO believe Rev Wright is telling his what he believes to be is true.

Rev Wright said Obama will speak as a politician.

Obama denounced Wright - saying the man he saw on Monday was not the same man from 20 years ago.

Obama is suggesting Wright SUDDENLY became this Black Liberation Theologian. Let's hear Rev Wright's version of events. Share with us, Reverend, what ideology you and Barack discussed all those years together. Share with us Barack's words of support for your message.

I would like to hear more from Rev Wright about Barack.

Well he is right about one thing. Obama is a slick politician.
But, not quite as slick as the racist pastor.
It's one or the other. Either Obama is dumber than a box of rocks for not knowing his pastor is a racist loon. Or he's just another lying politician. Either choice is not good.
Why do I suspect the pastor might have videos of Obama in church on the days of the controversial sermons. That might be why Obama pushed the pastor all the way to the edge of the cliff today but, still couldn't throw him over. Obama chose his words very carefully as always. He did not denounce the man. Obama only said their relationship would never be the same. Why would he hold onto this relationship ? Out of fear ?

lula may
Wright may have more on him than pictures of him in church. Maybe pictures of him with some of his friends,we don't know about, yet. The plot thickens.....

the ploy of the oblahma
oblahma has proven everyone that gets in his way should watch their back. It appears that he has learned from the clinton's that no one is safe if they stand in the way of his ambition.

Wrong was a useful idiot when the oblahma needed cover to develope his black identity. But now that the oblahma is sucking up to the coastal elites wrong becomes baggage he can do without.

Afterall how can you impress the rich whites you are no threat when you keep close company with a fire breather like wrong who has no problem expressing his disgust for rich white and priviledged folks.

In order to remain popular with his new elitist buds the oblahma can't represent any threat. Afterall how can they tyell the rich white buddies about their new black friend when he has a crazy uncle hiding in the closet

Sticks like Crazy Glue
This controversy is not going to go away. It will stick to Obama like Crazy Glue. McCain will not lose to this man!

Did I miss it ?
The media is reporting that Obama denounced Wright. I've checked all the news reports but I can't find anywhere he denounced Wright ? Once again he denounced what Wright said but he chose his words very carefully. I can't find where he denounced Wright. Did I miss it ?

President Wright
BHO thought he could pull a fast one with the gun toting, Bible loving and God fearing Americans. He reached his plateau from the demos ignorancy in selecting him based on his "rock star" style of empty rhetoric.BHO had a way of saying things they wanted to hear and believe, but they could never see threw that. I would not be surprised if they throw Obama under the train with his grandmother, and beg Wright to be their candidate. The battle has begun with Wright and Obama.....I wonder which one Sharpton and Jackson will defend? Oops sorry, there is not a white guy involved with this match! I am certain Iran would welcome Obama with open arms. Let the democrat games begin! ! There truly is a God as he has shown us how phony this ultra left wing
liberal is. Round two will be ousting Hillary!

I'm Right
I just watched the speech. He did not denounce Wright. He denounced the statements only. I guess he figured out again how to keep the black vote. The media needs to stop lying for this guy.

for KGK
KGK claims: "And the Hildabeast is no better but she is far more devious and clever than the Incompetent."

I disagree.

The Clintons are devious and their ideology is liberal, BUT they are NOT devotees of Afrocentric Black Liberation Theology, the stuff James Cone invented.

Hillary does NOT believe that black kids and white kids have genetically different brains, or that the Bible is really all about African history, as Cone and Wright preach.

Neither does her husband Bill.

lula may: And why do these go together?
I admire Mario Cuomo as a person, yet I despise his policies.

I admire the ideas of Martin Luther King, yet I despise his womanizing.

Should I go on?

Barack and Jeremia - very similar types
Obama and Wright are cut from the same cloth--I could see that a mile away. They are self-absorbed, arrogant, ambitious people who like to think they are "serving" people, but they are just serving themselves.

And your MORONIC

Wobbie The Coward is so agitated he can't spell. Or else he is typing with 1 hand. What would a Perverted Coward be doing with his other hand?

One should never underestimate
Wobbies ability to be a moron Lumberjack.
Or his ability to run away when challenged.

But we all know he's not going offline for a while because he hasn't had the chance to make his weekly racist and childish remarks in the Malkin thread yet.

For some reason he likes showing what a "man" he is by making stupid comments that he knows the moderators are just going to come along and delete.

Right Wobbie?

RIP OBAMA
Shrillary has finally run Rabbit Obama to ground. It is just a matter of time until she rips his throat out.

I don't know why but for some reason, I keep thinking of this as the "Skipper" (Rev. Wright) coming to the aid of his little buddy (Gilligan) and the "Skipper" thinks he is actually helping the situation.

Look at the size of the congregation of his church. The Obama's alone gave him 25 Grand last year. A few bucks from EVERYONE would stack up FAST!

The Next Step
When can we expect Obama to denounce the other racist in his life? His grandmother.

Arby
"I hope his many known, seedy and pathological associates just keep speaking out all over the place and doing him in, little by little."

***

And who are all these seedy and pathological
associates? Do you have names behind these (I
presume) black people?

Obama is a decent and honorable man. You are
not listening to what Obama has been saying.
You are only listening to Rev. Wright and
presuming that he is Obama and Obama is he.

I can only believe that this in-your-face
outrage that Wright has committed against his
once friend was a slap in the face. I also
believe that it is highly likely that the guy
was on drugs. If not that, he is extremely
high on himself and jealous of Obama's
accomplishments.

It will be interesting to see if he has a
congregation at all six months from now - at least the wealthy church that he has now.

"McCarthy has been made an icon of right-wing unreasonableness by the people who supported Soviet policy from the 1930s to its end in the 1990s and who support our terrorist enemies now."

Are you really proud of yourself for writing
such an incredibly ignorant statement.
McCarthy was absolutely an icon of right-wing
craziness. He was ferreting out communists.
OK. It is one thing to go after some people who
were working in places where secrets were being
held. McCarthy went after everyone and with a
vengeance. He ruined people. He went after
anyone who had leftist leanings. I would be one
of those. I am a real danger to this country.
Most of those convicted had their trials overturned. Laws were declared unconstitutional.
You know, like, if you want to vote for a
communist to be the President of the U.S., you
have that right! I will also remind you, that
very much like the Iraq "war" the Korean conflict
was not a "war."

To suggest that there were a huge number of people who were Soviet sympathizers in our
nation is as silly as calling the Liberals of
today communistis/socialists/facists. A lot
of people are saying it, but that does not make
it true.

McCarthy was a pathelic little drunk with an
oversized ego. Don't bother to try to make him
into some sort of a hero.

"I still want to know
the source of all that money - millions, upon millions for the campaign and then other millions for Wright's mansion and line of credit.
Where oh where??? "

****

Let me tell you: The mansion, figuring a 30
year mortgage at today's rates, comes to $1.50
person in the congregation a month. It is a huge
congregation. And the church belongs to the congregation, not to Rev. Wright. I think it is ridiculous for a minister to live in such an expensive house. But I somewhat understand how certain groups might openly celebrate their ability to be able to provide that.

As for the millions for the campaign, it came in
tiny little bunches, more so than in any other
presidential campaign in history, a lot of that
is due to the internet.

Obamisms
Pennsylvania, "I can no more denounce Reverend Wright than I can the black people."

Campaign, "American is the greatest country in the world, help me change it."

Huh?

vamnst
"There is no one so blind as those who will not see! Hey, far-left-coaster! This is you! Wright not a hate monger? (Anyone who thinks othewise is a McCarthy? !!! - does this sentence make
sense to anyone?)

I do not recall anyone defending Wright.
For that matter, this is not about Wright. If you cannot understand what Obama has gone through, you don't know people. Obama considered
him a friend. And now that friend has turned on him. The show that jerk put on in front of the
world yesterday must have devastated Obama, and
listening to him speak shows that clearly to be true. I have both a sister and a very good friend with whom I disagree on many many subjects. But I do not reject their friendship. And I think that most people have friends like that.

Now after 20 years, Rev. Wright's ego was more
important to himself than his friendship with
Obama and his family and more important than
the potential of having a man from the black
race be President of the nation. That is
incredible. As I said in another post, I think
the congregation should reject him and kick
him out of that home. Obama has every right to
be angry, and he is.

A second observation: I'll bet that if McCain
ever considered having Romney as a running mate,
I'll bet he is reconsidering after hearing the
news about the polygamist. Of course, that
wouldn't be fair either, but who cares about fair.

Obamaisms
San Francisco, "I should have worded that differently."

Translated, "I didn't know that the bitter, pathetic people that I am lying to will hear those words."

but wait...
America is a bitter country. Bitter and in denial at the same time. With the majority of white people being poor, it is no wonder they feel compelled to keep others down. Making someone else feel bad, look bad and become unwanted helps white people feel good about themselves. Race is and will always be the deciding factor in this country. That is why when you finally give all those illegals their American citizenship you will finally see what if feels like to not only be the majority poor american but finally the minority American.

Hate is the guiding force in America.

White Americans hate a Black Pastor who talks about the negative side of America, but embraces a White POPE who hides and aids child predators within his Church.

With a Country like that what makes you think Senator Obama could stand a chance to make some morale changes in this country. To bring this country together, these people do not even care about thier children, just look to the FLDS which has recently been exposed for guidance in how White AMericans really feel about the children. Think GOD is happy about that? When will White America get humble. You would think that 9/11 would have done it, but no your President told you to go shopping, why do you think he said that instead of saying let us pray?

Who's spinning?
How many times does Obama have to reject Reverend Wright. Nobody was listening before because they wanted Hillary to get the nomination. Those who attack Obama have no choice now but to move on. If those who attack Obama move on, they will prove by moving on that the attacks on Obama were baseless and race based just to remove Obama's glow and damage his chances of winning the nomination. Obama's speech was not too late. It's just another rejection Obama made to prove he doesn't share the feelings Reverend Wright does.

let's face it.....
here we are in 2008 facing another "First Black" in America. We as Blacks must remember when being a "first" in America we must go thru a ritualistic behavior from White Americans, this is no different than Jackie Robinson, Bill Cosby, Frederick Douglas, Colin Powell, Tiger Woods, Doug Williams, and many others. America is just a selfish country who is very much color blind. Remember the first heart transplant and even though the Dr could not do it without the assistance of his black assistant he took all the credit? This is America, so Black Americans regroup, get a grip, White America has changed but not as much as we thought. Just this year we have seen with as much as Tiger Woods has done for golf white america still placed a noose on the cover of their magazine.

Spin = Lies
So Obama, how does it feel being sold down the river by your friend and mentor?

There is something seriously wrong with this whole scenario. Bottom line Obama comes out of this looking like a liar and worse a dupe.

Wright is laughing all the way to the bank (white owned I have no doubt).

Kudos for a Hit Comedy
This primary election season is a better comedy show than anything playing on TV. Like Imus often says, "You can't make it up!"

Rev. Wright gets my vote as the new "Church Lady" for Saturday Night Live. He's not a good racist because you just want to chortle or break up into a good belly laugh with his outlandish statements.

Meanwhile, Barack plays the straight man role as one who loves his "nutty uncle" but cannot afford to agree with his strange view of the world because of his own ambitions.

The producer of this long-running comedic show is the Democrat Party, which actually came up with a candidate more appalling than the corrupt Clintons. Let's all applaud this gift to the nation and the GOP.

Urrggg, Aaargg, cough, cough...(silence)
What we are hearing are the last gasps of the O'pologists for Obama...

viruddah (or whatever)
Oh No Not Again (please someday make it so)
maverick (will smith wannabe...watch for his upcoming tag-change to I am Legend)

...AND many others will continue their defense of Obama, some even at the expense of "attacking the black church" while defending their personal disciple (Barry the Messiah) from that very same church. They either don't care or more likely have failed to notice, Barry has strayed from the flock, sort of. Or has he? Most of us haven't been able to figure that part out yet.

The most dillusional of the lot has posted something to the effect of Rev Wright will have a hard time filling the pews for his 'treatment' of Barry!!!

I suggest it is BARRY who will have a hard time winning a second term for his 'dissing' of the Rev and if there is ONE THING Jerry Wright has said in recent 'events' that rings true it is - "I will still be a pastor on January 21st..."
Obama knows THAT was a THREAT or maybe even a PROMISE that his career as a Chicago politician is for all intents & purposes, over!

I have a newsflash for the Obamatrons out there...the Party is Over for Obomanation! He will soon be just a footnote in history, a JEOPARDY question -
"Who Is The One Term Senator Who Almost Became POTUS"!
~Boop-boop-boop~
The trivia answer nobody remembers.

Rather than argue this one little point, read my 7:45 pm post and lets hear where you think I've missed the 'bus' (though judging from your responses to others, you have already read it and can't dispute the hypothesis).

For God And Country

What da?
“Whatever relationship I had with Reverend Wright has changed as a consequence of this,” Obama said.

Obama does not know what kind of relationship he had with Wright? Maybe they just went fishing together.

The Education of Obama
There are tough lessons to learn in this life. McCain has had his share and more. Hillary has had many many lessons. Now Obama is getting some of those lessons. He will learn and grow and possibly be a great man. However, he has many more lessons before he is ready to be the POTUS.

OMG ....Obama & Wright
FYI So-called 'White Churches'do have black congregants, and vice-versa.Of course folks who don't bother to go to church wouldn't know that. That never stops them from their little snide comments, though. Hypocrits, all.

I keep wondering if this whole debaucle is not something Obama and Wright cooked up in the 'parsonage',or maybe in the new $10 mil. mansion. It has a distinct smell to it,but I can't figure out what it is. Are we being had?

MDoggg 9:41
I'm white and attend a church whose senior pastor is black.

I do agree that Sunday morning is the most segregated day of the week for most, but not all churchgoers.

hypocrites....many of you....
you could not really care about the welfare of America if so then you would have vetted the BUSH family much better. IS George Bush following the creed of his Grandfather. He has taken things one step further than what his Grandfather and his NAZI friends had planned.
Do not care do you White America.

Until you closed down the child predatory filled Catholic Church, you are supporting CHILD RAPE, CHILD ABUSE within this church. You are a hyprocite and care more about race and a Black man in the White House than you do your kids. Guess what your kids know this too!!

Go ahead White America ride around with your "Don't vote for a Black man" bumper stickers it is allowed.

Obama's spin
Seems to me that the genesis of all Obama's problem was the left needed to show their religious bona fides because the right had a Mormon and a Baptist min ister running for POTUS. All the left then started praying and trotting out their "religious people" to say how prayerful and wondrous these candidates were. The Clintons had the facts on Obama and trotted out the story as Hillary started losing. On the other hand, Obama knew his pastor and what he was but hoped that his U-tube candidacy would not be questioned (Remember Geraldine Ferraro?)and he could keep Wright hidden.
As has been said in these blogs, Obama's chickens are circling. The question is whether the MSM will find a way to get him out of his problem or will they start looking harder at Obama's background, lack of accomplishment, and his "foreign policy" naivete.

Re: Oh No Not Again
Actually, GW Bush isn't following in the steps of Prescott Bush. That's an old and outdated saw if we were to use that as a talking point don't you think it would be more effective against somebody like Teddy Kennedy who's father (not grandfather) not only did business with the Nazi's but ran rum for Al Capone?

The questions about Obama aren't about his grandfather or even his father they are about Obama and his judgment. He formed the association with Wright and the one with Ayers. Given that both are radical leftists with strong Marxist backgrounds and Ayers is an admitted terrorist who wishes he'd murdered more people I think it calls Obama's politics and his basic judgment into serious question. I don't want somebody in the Whitehouse who thinks blowing his fellow citizens up is a valid method of political discourse. And I for sure don't want one in the whitehouse that believes that racist crap Wright spews out. I don't even want somebody who's been friendly with somebody who spews that garbage in the whitehouse.

Uninspired Judgement
I really do want to believe BO when he says he wants to unite us--that really would be ideal.

I just cannot bend my reasoning to allow a 20 year relationship with a paster, counselor and baptiser of my children who has such divisive and racist idealogy to go unchallenged.

In any case, no matter how you slice this issue, BO's judgement is not inspiring.

Big bear hugs at you!

Judgment improving
BO showed good judgment this morning...let's give him some credit.

In case of a BO presidency, let's hope his judgment continues to improve.

what a mess.

This morning
A poster named Speak_for_yourself joked about the ration of Pastor-gate columns on TH today, and commented on the lack of interest in really important issues among cons by asking how soon we could address Miley Cyrus photos.

Well, I hope Speaks gets a chance to see that there actually is a Miley Cyrus column (yes, an entire column) today, so he shouldn't be disaapointed and will have to find a more far-fetched example of vacuous passion to make his point.

Sorry about the holdup
DocTony and Akagi, unlike many posters here, I don't spend 24 hours monitoring this site, so I apologize for my delayed response.

To answer Akagi, Trent Lott went down over the things he actually said himself, something along the lines of the U.S. would be a much better place if we just kept our old segregationist ways.

As for "doc" Tony's assertion regrading McCarthy: yeah, you're on to something there. I've also seen some revealing data suggesting that the Earth is flat, Elvis and Tupac are still alive, and Shakespeare's work was actually writeen by his step sister.

oh no not again...
The worst kinds of lies are those that are repeated by others out of historical ignorance.

I want to put something to bed right now with you. Prescott Bush did not support the Nazi movement or fund the Nazi party.

Prescott Bush and many other American businessmen did business with German companies prior to the war. So did the businessmen in the European countries Hitler invaded. Many right up until the eve of the Weirmachts Blitzkrieg. But one plus one does not equal ten. Sorry.

And perhaps you can tell me this: Since we fought a brutal war with the Nazis, and Americans hated that regime with a justifiable passion, how was Prescott Bush elected to the senate TWICE...AFTER World War II? Did his consittuents not care that he was a Nazi supporter? Because that hardly seems believable.
And why did he allow his son to fight in that war? Japan was allied with the Nazis, so if Prescott Bush was a fan of Nazi Germany, why send his son into the war on the other side?

This kind of character assasination is disgusting. Do some research beyond Youtube and learn the facts about Prescott Bush.

oh no
Another thing. I have no problems with voting for a black man, but he will need to have more on his resume than, "Is Black" to get that vote. I care about things like substance and ideology. Perhaps you dont.

This ties in with his behavior today, just like then controlling the news was key.
