Statement of Jay Carson, Clinton Campaign Spokesman

Today Senator Hillary Clinton and President Bill Clinton are releasing their tax returns for the years 2000 through 2006, and are providing information regarding their 2007 taxes as well.

The Clintons have now made public thirty years of tax returns, a record matched by few people in public service. None of Hillary Clinton’s presidential opponents have revealed anything close to this amount of personal financial information.

What the Clintons’ tax returns show is that they paid more than $33,000,000 in federal taxes and donated more than $10,000,000 to charities over the past eight years. They paid taxes and made charitable contributions at a higher rate than taxpayers at their income level.

2000 - 2007 TAX RETURN SUMMARY
HILLARY & BILL CLINTON

TAXES PAID: $33,783,507

The Clintons paid $33,783,507 in federal taxes – 31% of their adjusted gross income. According to the most recent data available from the IRS, in 2005 taxpayers earning $10,000,000 or more paid on average 20.8% of their adjusted gross income in taxes.

CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS: $10,256,741

The Clintons donated $10,256,741 to charity – 9.5% of their adjusted gross income. According to the most recent data available from the IRS, in 2005 taxpayers earning $10,000,000 or more contributed 3.1% of their adjusted gross income in cash contributions to charity. Information about the Clinton Family Foundation, including a list of charities to which the Clintons contributed through the Foundation, is available online in the Foundation’s publicly available tax returns (www.foundationcenter.org).

AFTER TAX EARNINGS: $57,157,297

CUMULATIVE TOTAL(GROSS) INCOME: $109,175,175

Senator Clinton’s Book Income: $10,457,083

President Clinton’s Book Income: $29,580,525

President Clinton’s Speech Income: $51,855,599

Wow!
They made alot of money. However, they were taxed 30% of their income and gave 10% of their income to charity. This seem to be pretty good and I am not a Clinton fan. Very generous when it comes to charity. I think the Liberal talking point would be that she benefited from the Bush Tax cuts. However, anyone who donates that much money to charity would be be taxes a lot less. That is just how our system works.

Question
Just think how much they could make investing, say, $10M of that in cattle futures!

You have to remember
Hillary's been running for president ever since 2000. And she knew they would be releasing their tax returns. So...why not give 10% to charity if it would make oneself look charitable in the public eye.

I noticed Obama did the same as soon as he became a Senator and had a chance at running for president. His charitable giving increased as well, knowing he would release that to the public.

I'm thinking...

Question

They should invest in Daddy Bush's carlyle Group and make a killing. What did Reagan get for those talks he gave in Japan when he left office, I forget, but I remember at the time it was certainly obscene.

Ron ROTFLMAO

Off shore accounts
While it is laudable that the Clintons have been generous, as they should be, to a Country that has enriched them; I still wonder about their off shore investments. McCain, on the other hand is one of the richest senators who still hides behind his wife's pre nup financial set up which has helped him in his Keating five differculties. Wow, what a great cast of characters we have. But vote we must!

Clinton didn’t pay health insurance bill
You would think they have the money!

POLITICO-Among the debts reported this month by Hillary Rodham Clinton’s struggling presidential campaign, the $292,000 in unpaid health insurance premiums for her campaign staff stands out.

Clinton, who is being pressured to end her campaign against Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination, has made her plan for universal health care a centerpiece of her agenda.

The campaign provides health insurance to all its employees, their spouses, partners and children — and that wasn’t interrupted by any lag in payments to insurance providers, said Jay Carson, a Clinton campaign spokesman.

He said the campaign this month paid off all outstanding bills to Aetna Healthcare and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield. Those payments will be reflected on a report the campaign will file this month with the Federal Election Commission, which Carson said will show “zero debt owed to both vendors.”

Keeper of the greater good
is certainly lucrative! Obscene profits, anyone?

Bill says tax everyone else but me
I thought libs believe we are not paying enough taxes. They always tell us that we are the lowest taxed industrialized nation. Now, look at the libs' god, Bill Clinton. He made $109 million and paid $33 million in federal taxes. My calculator says Bill net 70% of his income. What!? I pay a higher tax rate, and I make less than 1% of what Bill made. Edwards is right. There is two Americas.

More Power to them
If the Clintons can make that much money off writing pulp fiction and telling tall tales, more power to them. Bill made a lot of friends during 8 years in the White House and now he is calling in his markers. But Hillary . . . . PLEASE shut up from now on about the profits made by US corporations and the large salaries of CEOs. Your profits put most of them to shame.

Before you start thinking the Clinton's are doing good by donating to charity. Read the follow-up on this and find out they donated 10 million to their own charity. Where does that money go and for what causes. The way they are being paid off by people is through the Clinton Foundation that stands at over 500 million dollars and growing.

Clinton's tax returns.
The Democrats are for the little guys, right? Wink. Wink.

While I'm not a Clinton fan...
They have given alot more of their income than myself and probably most of you greedy Republicraps on this list, so I salute them!

I'd like to see
what qualified as charities that they gave to. If it was something like Planned Parenthood, I'm sure it was in exchange for votes. If not, good for them. For bumblebush, how much do YOU give to charity? Using the Clinton's giving as an excuse to bash "greedy Republicraps" is pretty weak. You should be saluting us because studies show conservatives give way more to charity than libocrites. But that's not your point was it? Your point was to spew at Republicans and as usual, you find any piece of lint you can to do so.

Wait a minute, guys
Aren't you all the people who object to "class warfare", promote "prosperity christianity" and capitalist opportunism?

what a bunch of hypocrites.

100 million in eight years - god bless America, God bless capitalism, getting rich is the American way, as you are so fond of reminding democrats every minute of the day.

Decide what the hell your "philosophy" is, and stick with it.

ex-wyomingite

"This greedy Republican didn't have his own foundation to give a charitable contribution to, "

Do I hear just a whisper of envy there, ex? I thought that was a conservative no-no.

When TH snarks start criticizing their beloved preachers who are flying around in private jets and purchasing a home for every climate, I'll take their criticism of wealthy, prominent Americans seriously.

It sounds to me like the Clintons made some of those positive "choices" you guys love to talk about, so they aren't poor and dont need your tax dollars to survive. What are you whining about? From all the posts I've read on TH condemning poor people, I would think the Clintons would be your patron saints.

Where is the republican defense and worship of the rich?

Can they claim Chelsea???
I couldn't help but notice that the Clintons claimed Chelsea on their 2000, 2001, and 2002 forms...she was 20, 21, and 22 respectfully on those years...is that legal?????

Republicans give more to charities....
Hey bumbleBush...please see the following:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/03/conservat ives_more_liberal_giv.html

It seems the greedy Republicans give more to charities than those giving Liberals...go figure.

What Did Bill Clinton Do To Get $15M

What Did Bill Clinton Do To Get $15M From Ron Burkle?

HP-The campaign press statement accompanying the release on Friday of Hillary Clinton’s 2000 - 2007 tax returns includes some useful summary data for the media: Bill and Hillary Clinton’s total income over the past 8 years, $109 million; her Senate salary, $1.1 million; his presidential pension, $1.2 million; her book royalties, $10.5 million; his book royalties, $29.6 million; and his speaking fees, $51.9 million.

One big line item is missing from the press summary however: the $15 million paid to Bill Clinton between 2003 and 2007 by Ron Burkle’s Yucaipa Global Opportunities Fund.

In fact, the Burkle payments, buried deep in the income tax forms themselves, were the only real news in tax documents, which were made public for the first time.

To the best of my knowledge, if an adult child is a full-time student whose support is primarily coming from the parents, the parents can claim as a dependent that child even if the child is legally an adult. Since in the years 2000 to 2002 I'm presuming that Chelsea was in college and Bill and Hill were providing most of her support, they very definitely can claim her as a dependent on their tax returns. Now if they had tried to claim her as a dependent on last year's income tax form, THAT would definitely have been illegal - although when have legalities ever stood in the way of what a Clinton is after? By the way, don't you all love how the Clintons, for all they've railed against the supposed disparities of the free-enterprise system, apparently are perfectly happy being a part of that disparity on the advantageous side. As a supporter of free enterprise, I don't mind if the Clintons take advantage of opportunities to greatly maximize their wealth: I DO mind when these same people want to deny OTHERS the same opportunities to do the same that they personally have availed themselves of. I wonder if any executive at WalMart, which the Clintons have joined the left-wing attack on, has earned as much money this decade as the Clintons. And unlike the Clintons, WalMart at least provides employment for thousands of people; the only group of people the Clintons have provided steady employment for, it seems, have been lawyers, like Robert Bennett.

would you pay so much...
to hear Slick Willie speak? To have him explain, "It depends upon what your definition of 'is' is." Does giving to the Clinton Foundation seem quite the same as giving to United Way, say?

Excellent point made here:

While Hussein's donations went up sharply from almost nothing when he got elected to the Senate, his beneficence went to his racist church-- hmmm.
He and America hater Michelle had given well less than others of their income level. Libs prefer to tell YOU what should be done with YOUR money.

ModMark
What is there about the physical upkeep expenses needed for a church that therefore requires some different kind of consideration regarding the basis of its charitable status than any other organization for which charitable donations are allowed on a tax form: the United Way, GoodWill, various foundations, etc.? All these organizations, like churches, require some amount of outlay for the services necessary to allow them to function: water, heat, maintenance, etc. Also, the salaries of those who work for them. Actually, I don't understand why you personally AREN'T taking issue with the tax-deductible status of church contributions. Several days ago, on a different thread, Curtal Friar brought our attention to a post you made in which you essentially said that the Bible legitimizes the sexual slavery of pre-teen girls (feel free to correct me if I've got this wrong). Since you obviously therefore have a low opinion of the Bible and its adherents, why can't you at least be consistent in that viewpoint and oppose the granting of tax-exempt status at all to contributions to, and income of, the very same organizations - churches - that push the primacy of this same Bible you mock? Are you afraid of the implications of your own stated belief system? I'm not.

As I recall ...
... Bill released his returns when he was president, and they included deductions for donating his used sox and skivvies -- $1 for a pair of sox and $2 for a pair of underwear.

JD's Handsome Son
hmmm...in you're attempt to warm the crowd with you bogus, feel-good statistic, you failed to detail how much you've contributed from your own coffers. Oh, I know, it's none of my business, and there are far more important things in which to judge a person's character such as wearing lapel pins, determining just who is patriotic and who is not...oh wait...

I see you remember her BULL investments!
Lets see...10 million dollars to charity, 5 million of that to HER charity!(probably 2.5 million to bill's charity,2.5 million to cheesyia
her daughter!See, a balanced budget!)
Does this -itch ever do anything..that is not self serving, selfish, dishonest, corrupt? Did I leave out any of her virtues? Those were her virtues I mentioned...now lets get into her vices

I'm with you. I did the math and I too pay proportionately more in taxes than the Clintons paid while making less per year than 1% of what the Clintons made -- considerably less than 1%.

The Clintons paid 30% on $109 million. Even if the Clintons had paid 50% on $109 million, AND gave away $10 million to charity, they would still have in excess of $40 million PER YEAR.

Have to agree with you about Edwards, who I think is a jerk. There ARE indeed two Americas (and I clearly live in the wrong one). I make a comfortable amount of money per year -- at least it would look comfortable on paper -- but by the time I get through paying proportionately MORE than the Clintons to the IRS, and giving to charity, and managing the increased cost of living, I still have to watch my nickels and dimes.

Why claim charitable contributions?
According to Bill and Hillary, rich people don't pay enough. She's so concerned about poverty that she wants to appoint a "poverty czar" to fight the problem. Maybe if she paid more in taxes to help fight the problem, she'd make some headway. The Clintons have the option to pay more in taxes to help the government help the poor, but they choose not to. And the vast majority of her charitable contributions are to the Clinton's own charity fund. Two things about that. First, even they realize that the poor are helped better by charities than by the government. Second, their charity has doled out less than 30% of the money that they gave to it. So it's just sitting there, probably waiting to be donated to the HRC Library in few years. Meanwhile, at least one relative (last name Clinton) is collecting a salary of near a quarter of a million dollars a year to run the charity (which doesn't seem to really be doing anything). I can't wait for the bloggers and honest media to pick up on some of this and run with it... How stupid do the Clintons think we are? That's the underlying questin in all of this...

Arby
Check your math. $40 million per year for the last 6 years is $240 million.

John konop...15 million
What did bill clinton do to get 15 million bucks?
Maybe he figured out...WHAT IS ..IS?

Hillary Lies Again?

Hillary Lies Again?
NYT-Over the last five weeks, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York has featured in her campaign stump speeches the story of a health care horror: an uninsured pregnant woman who lost her baby and died herself after being denied care by an Ohio hospital because she could not come up with a $100 fee.

The woman, Trina Bachtel, did die last August, two weeks after her baby boy was stillborn at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio. But hospital administrators said Friday that Ms. Bachtel was under the care of an obstetrics practice affiliated with the hospital, that she was never refused treatment and that she was, in fact, insured.

“We implore the Clinton campaign to immediately desist from repeating this story,” said Rick Castrop, chief executive officer of the O’Bleness Health System.

Linda M. Weiss, a spokeswoman for the not-for-profit hospital, said the Clinton campaign had never contacted the hospital to check the accuracy of the story, which Mrs. Clinton had first heard from a Meigs County, Ohio, sheriff’s deputy in late February.

The Clinton Taxees
First, giving a figure of $109 million is a little misleading, because it is a cumulative figure for eight years, not just 2006. Many people who read it will remember $109,000,000 instead of an average of aragged $13 million a year. Of course, that's barel middle-class income to the Trust-Fund Babies who support Obama.

Second, unlike a lot of people who loophole their earnings, the Clintons paid a pretty high percentage of the gross as taxes. Their harity givings, even if it was to the Clinton Library, were pretty high, too. I was impressed on both counts.

Finaly, the article pointed out that the clintons have been more forthcoming than any of their opponents. Where's the outrage Obama and McCain haven't put all their financial laundry?
What about advances and royalties on their political books, investments, etc.?

Folks, none of these people are poor, but I have to say that during his years in office, it appears Bill Clinton did not keep his nose in the financial trough and profit from his office.

As soon as Obama got to the US Senate, he earmarked a million dollar grant to where his wife works and she got a what, $100,000 plus raise? So much for this "Mr. Clean", "post-racial" campaign.

bumblebush
bumblebush = pile of dogcrap

Randy
IF Clinton "profited" during his years in office, do you really think it would be reportable income? Under the table money is, probably, declared less often than tips.

WAKE UP ALREADY WHITE AMERICA!!

Please don't let America see more Archie Bunker characters rise above the people THAT WANT CHANGE.

WHITE RACIST GO BACK TO YOUR CAVES IN EUROPE, OR CUT OUT THE BS IN MY COUNTRY AND GET ALONG!!

ANCESTRIAL BIGOTS WAKE THE F UP!!

2OO MIL PEOPLE IN AMERICA AND YOU MO'RONS THINK ABOUT "REV NOBODY WRIGHT"

YEAH, SMALL MINDS DO THINK ALIKE!!

ANN COULTER IS YOUR RACIST LEADER, GET OUT YOUR WHITE HOODS AND ROBES AND HAVE A BBQ IN EUROPE!!

Women are being blinded and have lost sight of wanting a real difference maker in front of their own sisterhood agenda.

Please women of America, you are not helping your cause by sticking with Hillary Clinton..

They're more savy, smarter and PoliticalLY intelligent WOMEN, than this complete fraud of a Senator.

With all the lies and backstabbing this Clinton family represents, I wonder how they sleep at night?

Their closes allies and best friends are not supporting her and there is a good darn reason for this!!

I know that most people are not that smart, but come on, this one is becoming a no brainer!!

How do you women really feel to keep seeing her lies and experience exposed?

This is not a person fit to be in the WHITE HOUSE.

She would be embaressing all womenkind.

Obama is really the most logical candidate for real change away from the Bush policies that are literally killing America's name and pride...

The last straw is now knowing that the Clintons tax paperwork expose a link with Arab nations Shieks that underline the pockets of Terrorist organizations for security so that Dubai and Abu Dabai won't have to worry about islamic extremist turning on them.

WAKE UP PEOPLE!!

This link proves this!!

Hillary=Small change

Nuff said!!!

HEADBOWOMPUS:
Far be it from me to challenge your Headship, but equating BumbleBush to the steaming leavings of man's best friend is not fair. Not fair to the pile of dogcrap, that is.

well
I am a bit impressed. Even though, by their standards of what we should be giving to the government, it is a little low. I am impressed they paid more than the average bear for their income. I do like she finally opened up about something. There are many other papers that need to be released from the clintons, but this is a start.

Ill be honest when the other side does something right lol

More than one Anti-Christ? Jesus help us
Yeah the bad old Clintons up to their routine again. I don't think it's possible that Hillary has a shot at getting in a pres. She is Bill and vice versa, we don't need Bill in another term with his hand up Hillary's bum working that sagging faced puppet while monica lewinski "gives him a hand"

Obama doesn't really have any experience to qualify to run in my opinion. He and Hillary have made a mockery of the presidential race like two idiots telling on each other to their moms. America is definitely ready for a black president, just not Obama. He'd gain more ground running as someones VP. If we had a black president I'd love to see jesse jackson's p*mp operation of the black race shut down, or would it be? I'd also like all of the white supremecists gagged and bagged.

So we have McCain. The media said he's got an anger problem you know. ROFL! Well, don't we all have anger when someone has missles pointed at us? I'll go with McCain it looks like.
