Will Congress pass Obamacare by the end of the year?

Leading Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama continued his defense of his controversial longtime pastor and friend Reverend Jeremiah Wright in a chat-fest with the ladies of The View Friday.

Obama said he rejects anti-American and racist comments Wright has said in sermons, but believes Wright is misunderstood. Obama described Wright as “a brilliant man who was still stuck in a time warp” and that he was “one of the best pastors” in Chicago on ABC’s daytime talk show.

Obama has said he was unaware Wright had said “goddamn America,” blamed the government for infecting the black population with AIDS or made other controversial statements in his sermons in a highly billed speech on race and religion and in other appearances.

Obama said Friday it was important to take Wright’s remarks “in context” and that those remarks only reflected “a snippet of a man.”

“I'm not vetting my pastor,” Obama explained. “I didn't have a research team during the course of 20 years to go pull every sermon he's given and see if there's something offensive that he's said.”

He also said he has spoken with Wright recently and feels “he’s [Wright] saddened by what happened.”

“I told him I feel badly he has been characterized in this one way and people haven’t seen the other aspects of him,” Obama said.

Earlier this week in Greensboro, North Carolina Obama blamed media for promoting the story. Obama said: “This is somebody who was preaching three sermons at least a week for 30 years. And got boiled down in the -- they found five or six of his most offensive statements, boiled that down into a half an hour sound clip -- or half minute sound clip and just played it over and over and over again.”

if you had a recorder on me at all times you could'nt find 10 seconds of vile speech that was anything like what Wright said in public.

He is an anti-American racist ... pure and simple and Obama supports the man ...

Misanthropicus Introducing Glib'ama
My American fellows, let me introduce mister Hussein Glib'ama, Democrat candidate for the United States presidency. My friends, as you well know America is proud of Hussein Glib'ama's pneumatic qualities and his fortitude and straight-forwardness in dealing with reverend Wright's political views has strongly enhanced this impression. When mister Glib'ama was questioned by an emotional, scratching his (own) legs Chris Matthews about what inspired him to come with the monumental political statement of "If he [Wright] ain't quit, I would have", mister Glib'ama confessed that there are two great political truths that for long have been inspiring his stratospheric moral stands: "The first one is 'It depends of what do you mean by IS, since 'is' can mean 'was,''has been,' 'will be," then the second one 'Before I voted for it I voted against it/Before I voted against it I voted for it'". My friends, courageous stand and ispiring moral guidelines and we enthusiastically look foward for more from mister Glib'ama.
--------
Now a bit about liberal media: compare the tsunami of warm air issued over mister Glib'ama's speech with the almost inexistent response to McCain's Wednesday Los Angeles speech, a truly important evaluation of the problems this country faces and which her future president has to address. The "We are the ones we've been waiting for" dude is not even marginally qualified to helm the country through the next years' rough waters - traveler, go and tell this in the sandboxes where Glib'ama's fans are busy with little buckets, rubber foam showels and Tonka bulldozers.

Bingo!
"Obama said Friday it was important to take Wright’s remarks “in context” and that those remarks only reflected “a snippet of a man.”"

Exactly! I've been saying the same thing for years.

All the good Germans after WWII said Hitler was just misunderstood. OK OK he went a little over the line on the Jewish question and we never really knew about that anyway but hey he made all us Germans feel good about being in the master race, gave us jobs building gas chambers and started the autobauns. All in all a good man.

Don't you dare take his hatred and racism out of context!

Obama is a youth.
BO has a big hole in his soul and he needs Rev Wright to shore him up. He is basically trapped in time in a mans body but with a self-image of a adolescent trying to figure out when he might become a man. Unfortunately for BO, he chose the wrong man to emulate. He needed to find a father figure who isn't a race hustler who lives in a 10,000 sq. ft. house costing $1.6 million who dislikes middle class Americans.
It is so obvious that BO has become a disciple of Wright instead of a grown up man who really loves America.

BO is toast.

Condi Rice supports Obama’s Race Speech?
WT-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said yesterday that the United States still has trouble dealing with race because of a national “birth defect” that denied black Americans the opportunities given to whites at the country’s very founding.

“Black Americans were a founding population,” she said. “Africans and Europeans came here and founded this country together — Europeans by choice and Africans in chains. That’s not a very pretty reality of our founding.”

As a result, Miss Rice told editors and reporters at The Washington Times, “descendants of slaves did not get much of a head start, and I think you continue to see some of the effects of that.”

“That particular birth defect makes it hard for us to confront it, hard for us to talk about it, and hard for us to realize that it has continuing relevance for who we are today,” she said.

Miss Rice declined to comment on the campaign, saying only that it was “important” that Mr. Obama “gave it for a whole host of reasons.”

But she spoke forcefully on the subject, citing personal and family experience to illustrate “a paradox and contradiction in this country,” which “we still haven’t resolved.”

On the one hand, she said, race in the U.S. “continues to have effects” on public discussions and “the deepest thoughts that people hold.” On the other, “enormous progress” has been made, which allowed her to become the nation’s chief diplomat.

Condoleezza Whine
Blacks like bHussein Obama and sister Condi are all in this together. They all are of one coin. A paradox. They have risen to power, they are educated, world traveled, famous, articulate, richer than most whites, and when they speak it's all about how racist whites are and how whites have held them down. They uphold blacks no matter what. It's a sorry picture and why whites do not reject this rewritten history is evidence of the brainwashing that has occurred here in these not united states. bHussein Obama continues to defend a racist black and he is still very much in the race to be US president. Unbelievable.

Valley Girl
At the end of the day, neither our racial history nor Rev. Wright have anything to do with the problem at hand: Who is Barack Obama? Would he be a good POTUS?

I think not. I have to agree with Ruff. Obama in many ways seems very adolescent. Sure, he covers his lack of maturity and wisdom with what Mark Styne calls "Barack's sonorous baritone voice". Barack has a gift for speechifying that belies his youth.

But one talk show host compared Barack's off the cuff responses to that of a Valley Girl. After I got done laughing, I had to agree.

JD"s hs
Gotta luv it when your jive makes you alot of dough! Even an old whitey like me can see that black racism pays BIG TIME!

Must make the grand wizard driving a rusted out pickup wonder where's the justice in this world.

To Jim
OK....I am rolling on the floor laughing. You need to take this show on the road.

Obama is stubborn
Obama has yet, to my knowledge, stated his own positions on the outrageous comments by Pastor Wright.

Sorry, a blanket 'I disagree with the controversial things he has said.' doesn't cut it for me.

Obama does not seem to understand that Americans are more interested in what HIS positions are. If he would answer that question this would all go away rather quickly.

Unless *gasp*, he really is a Black Liberation Theologist and knows that it won't play so well in most parts of the country.

Inquiring minds want to know....

JD's Son
You totally misunderstand the Rev's intentions. He would much rather live in the safety and freedom of the motherland, but he is voluntarily sacrificing himself by returning back to the US and remaining on the "frontlines" of the global war on racism. True leaders always lead their troops in battle! Bless you Rev Wright.

very clever lawyer-speak
The mainstream media is happy (no, thrilled) to let Obama deflect the real issue here with a "hate the sin but love the sinner" approach. The issue is not Rev. Wright's speeches, these are just advertisements, as it were, for his church's liberation theology that has resonated with Obama for 20+ years. Nothing that Wright preaches (in or out of context)can be a surprise to anyone attending this church. The so-called snippits are glimpses into the raison d'etre for that church and it's congregation. As a champion of racial healing, Obama comes up profoundly short.

Nothing new
Aren't the moveon.org democrats the same ones who still defend Mao and Stalin? Ho Chi Minh? Castro and Chavez? There's nothing new in democrats defending racists, mass murderers and others on the far left of the political spectrum.

When did Rev. Wright apologize?

Here’s an all-important statement made by Obama this morning which TownHall News reported yesterday but not today in this article by Ms. Carpenter.

"Had the reverend not retired, and had he not acknowledged that what he had said had deeply offended people and were inappropriate and mischaracterized what I believe is the greatness of this country, for all its flaws, then I wouldn't have felt comfortable staying at the church," Obama said Thursday during a taping of the ABC talk show, "The View."

I have read dozens of news articles and commentaries on this matter. Yet I have never read an article where Rev. Wright apologized for his sermons and for deeply offending people for his inappropriate preaching. Barack Obama is now telling us that Rev. Wright has apologized? When did that happen?

Further, Obama’s remaining for 20 years in Rev. Wright’s church gives us voters a strong impression of someone who is indecisive, shallow, and doesn’t understand leadership. He characterized Rev. Wright as an odd but loveable uncle in his speech on race. His minister should have been his spiritual authority, as Obama claimed for a long time.

It’s clear that Rev. Wright has had a strong influence on Obama. Barack Obama’s race-dividing speeches to win primaries used words that were offensive, words like “They’re trying to hoodwink you” to Mississippi voters and nudging black voters with “They’re giving you the ol’ Okey-Doke.” Few members of the media reported this but TownHall News did.

Wright Wing Conspiracy
This is from what writing for AsianWeek.com: Obama’s Wright Wing Conspiracy

Everyone knows “Four score and seven years ago” and “I have a dream”, but only Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s “God Damn America!” will live forever in infamy. Unlike OJ, Obama has mesmerized Americans of all colors into backing a president that worships weekly to a message that RICH WHITE (and some Asian) PEOPLE HATE POOR BLACK (and some Asian) PEOPLE. Obama supporters can be assured of their moral superiority to the “ignorant racist rednecks, creationists, and neocon wackos” that show up at McCain events. As people who have been hated for being too rich and for having wretched accents by both blacks and whites, Asian Americans need to put a stop to this good race / bad race nonsense. My parents came to this country to help build the American dream, not fight the white power structure.

One Crazy, Mixed-up Kid
Barack keeps getting deeper and deeper into the tall grass. He told Major Garrett if he had ever heard those sermons "he would have left the church." But that he "missed some Sundays when his first child was born." Huh?

That, to my knowledge, was Barack's first public comment. Now, he's all over the place and we get whiplash trying to keep up with it.

Just like his upbringing, Barack is a study in contradictions. We can't figure out who he is because he doesn't know himself. Just one crazy mixed up kid, since we're dredging up the '60's.

The one thing we do know we learn from his Oprah-tour speeches. He's just another lib politican buying votes with other people's money.

How he would govern as president? Yikes! Too scary to contemplate.

McCain's faith vs. Obama's
Here's the closing paragraph
Compare Obama’s back-pedaling to John McCain’s book, “Faith of My Fathers”: “Glory belongs to the act of being constant to something greater than yourself, to a cause, to your principles. No misfortune, no injury, no humiliation can destroy it. This is the faith that my commanders affirmed, that my brothers-in-arms encouraged my allegiance to… It was my father and grandfather’s faith. A filthy, broken man, all I had left of my dignity was the faith of my fathers. It was enough”. You can choose between the man whose faith is in the church built on Cone’s war against America, or the man who would give his life for his fellow Americans.

Sorry for this interruption, you can go back to slamming Obama.

Right wingers turning on C. Rice
repub Secretary of State Condelezza Rice come
out in a statement commending Sen Obamas speech on race, echoing many of the comments he made and now repubs/cons are TURNING ON HER AND CALLING HER VIEWS RACIST/VICTIMIZATION...?

OH MY GOD..LMAO

MDogg writes:
"This phony indignation is merely an excuse for your own hatred and racism - not to mention a way to ignore the REAL issues Wright raises."
--------------------------------
What issues, pray tell. Enlighten us if you will.

One thing coming across loud and clear

in this whole Rev. Wright thing is that for many blacks, including Senator Obama, freedom is not enough.

Of course that raises the problem of, in America freedom is all you get.

When will Senator Obama find the courage to tell Americans that he believes freedom is not enough.

It is anti-American to believe that freedom is not enough.

Senator Obama's campaign shouts

loudly and clearly, that for the Senator and his followers, FREEDOM IS NOT ENOUGH, THEY WANT MORE and they want to take it from the people who believe Freedom IS Enough!!!!

Huddling masses

yearning to be free, not yearning to take, by government power and force, that which is not theirs!!!!

What is this mindset BHO and his supporters have?

If freedom is not enough, they are yearning to be kept as slaves. Cause after you are given freedom, in justice the rest is up to you.

Why does Wright 'feel bad'?
As though he actually does and Obama is not lying again like when Obama lied and said Wright apologized. This action would merely justify his sermons that whitey is still trying to keep blackey down.

The question is this. . . if it is just a couple of statements, and it is just a man stuck in a time warp, why then is it only blacks that can be excused in this manner?

If McCain attended a church that used the N word and said that all the blacks were sucking off the government teat because they were lazy and dumb, would he still feel that they needed to be excused? If he went to a church that said that blacks needed affirmative action because they were actually inferior and could not compete on a level playing field. . . would that be excused as well?

If 'nappy headed' is enough of a caveat to get a SHOCK JOCK fired from a job he's had for 40 years, then why isn't this incendiary stuff out of bounds PERIOD? Why explain that he's from a different time? Imus is from a different time too and isn't a spiritual adviser to young people.

Keep on this Amanda. Obama is likely going to be the nominee and this guy with this philosophy doesn't belong in the white house. . . . oops, maybe we really should have been more sensitive and called it the 'black house' - of course Obama will change the name when he wins to atone for the sins of our fathers.

Obama is no less dangerous than Malcom X or Louis Farakhan.

Thank you Amanda. Keep on this until November.

No Problem
The polls show this is no problem for Obama. I'm not surprised.
I would assume the people who support Obama and his radical left agenda's would also be America haters. This is the black helicopter group. Everything
is a government conspiracy. This would explain the aids controversy. These are the same people who believe our government and the Jews conspired to kill all those people on 9-11. It really is amazing how many people are crazy. That's why the pharmaceutical industry is going gang busters.
I actually had to let an employee go because he was frightening the other employees with all his conspiracy theories. They thought he was going to go postal.
Obama has definitely attracted the crazies.

Careful what you say....
If we all take someone's words out of context and boil them down to three or four cherry-picked statements, we'd all be screwed.

Coulter, Limbaugh, Hannity, Falwell....

These are just a few voices that have spewed hate over their careers and could just as easily be tagged the same way Rev. Wright is now.

Don't judge a book by its cover, or better yet, by the 30 second sound bite that some biased producer cooked up to sink someone's character.

Let the Hate stop!

In context
Can someone please explain the "context" in which "God Damn Amreica" becomes acceptable? Wright did not grow up as a "poor black boy in the ghetto," but in a prosperous middle-class neighbourhood. He went to a prestigious high school. I don't know what his Father did, but his Mother was a school principal. To hear him talk as if he had little or no education, never mind the filthy mouth on this supposed "minister," simply underlines the truth, which is that Wright is a big a racist race hustler and hate-monger as Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton.
What concerns me is that Obama has been influenced by this bigot for over 20 years. Add Obama's America hating wife3 into the mix, and why would anyone vote for Obama?
Oh, and before someone starts spouting the tired old bullclinton about slaves and Jim Crow, go look up the meaning of N.I.N.A.

Does anyone know if Rev.

Wright curses often from the pulpit. It seems a pretty strange way to show your Christianity.

When did Rev. Wright apologize?
dsslm writes: Friday, March, 28, 2008 2:08 PM

You're right. I heard the clip this morning on WLS radio. Why are the press not calling him a liar. They have been down on Hillary. Oh I forgot different rules for Obama.

Pastor Hohn Hagee....
Let's be fair here and post some of the comments by John McCain's Pastor, John Hagee.

If we are concerned about Obama's pastor's influence over him, then what about Hagee's influence over McCain.

Hagee's Quotes:

The Roman Catholic Church is a great whore.

Its a false cult system.

the apostate church

Catholic Church helped inspire Adolph Hitler to initiate the Holocust

No conservative should be proud of these comments....just like no liberal is proud of Wrights comments.

Kinda like the pot calling the kettle "black"

question for repubs/cons
When did Rev Jesse Jackson, Rev Al Sharpton and Rev. Jeremiah Wright become de facto official
spokespersons and "leaders" of blacks in the U.S.?

just curious because EVERYTIME a discussion on race is brought up lately in TH. these are the first three names mentioned.

Neveragain,

How long has McCain been attending Hagee's church?

If I had known Hagee was McCain's pastor, I would have campaigned against him harder.

Left Angle,

they are only the defacto official spokespersons and "leaders" of those blacks for whom "Freedom is not enough". That is those blacks who believe they are entitled to more. Of course, there are many people of Negro descent who do not buy into the idea that they are still dependent on others for their dignity and success. These peoples defacto leaders are: Michael Steele, J.C. Watts, Bill Cosby, Walter Williams, Tom Sowell, Alan Keyes, Ken Blackwell and the many other black men and women who know that Freedom is all a human being needs to find dignity and success.

When did Rev. Wright apologize?
Medved is discussing this right now. Obama made these statements on the View.

eddie too
McCain has been attending John Hagee's church long enough that it's a problem.

Maybe the liberal media is not covering it because they are waiting to unload it during the general in Nov?

Anyway, it should be getting as much press as the Rev. Wright story and is not.....

Neveragain,

Hagee's church is in Texas. John McCain, to my knowledge, has never lived in Texas. I think you are wrong. McCain has never belonged to Hagee's church. Hagee has never been McCain's pastor.

At least, we now know the accuracy of your false slurs about Senator McCain. Now, less informed people will know the truth and you will have less influence in misleading them.

Hopefully, in the future you will try to be more accurate and will recognize false claims about people instead of perpetuating them.

McCain's Denouncement of Hagee....
I'm still waiting on McCain to denounce his pastor's vile comments....Hagee scares the hell out of me and I'm shocked McCain still embraces his endorsement.

Double Standards should always have some light shed on them!

Never again wrote
that the Reverend's comments were taken of of context.
Well all the Reverend has to do is say he made a mistake, apologize and retract those statements. I don't think he will because he needs the income he generates from race hustling to make the monthly payments on his mansion. If he really believes what he preaches, why didn't he build his house next to his church instead of an upscale neighborhood. Opp's, I forgot, his black value system says they won't settle for middle-class.
Heck, I'm still just trying to get my mind to accept that Abraham, Moses, King David, Solomon, and Jesus were Black.

eddie: the odd thing is..
I dont know a single black person that considers
Rev Jesse Jackson, Rev. Al Sharpton and Rev. Jeremiah Wright or for that matter any of the people you mention to be:

"De facto Black Leaders and Official Spokesmen
of the U.S. Blacks"

The only place or persons I have ever heard this nonsense is by TH right wing conservatives.

when I posed this question to several of my black friends, beleive it or not they started cracking up with laughter, telling me you:

"You gotta be kidding, white repubs/cons ACTUALLY believe this?"

I said: heck yeah

they said: thats sad, really sad..

Hagee is not

McCain's pastor. McCain has never attended Hagee's church.

commercials
It will be fun for the person to do the commercials don't you think.

First run some clips of Farrahkan's rants (they are chilling). Run the words of their honoring him as a great man. Then run some clips of the "pastor" rants, I really like the ones about how white America deserved 9/11. (I guess he thought WWII would be better going on for several more years?) Then end it all with Obama defending it all and how he is the great peace maker.

Too bad all we are left with is McCain.

FUBAR

Obama Ability
Obama apologists report to us that Obama never heard or intuitively recognized the true character of Wright or what he was speaking.

They assure us that Obama will listen to the people who are not his mentor or guide and recognize what is needed in race relations and other critical problems.

huh!

This special Obama ability apparently may not be so special.

Left Angle

BHO himself calls Wright his mentor. So there is one prominent black man who sees Wright as a leader. Also, his church is the largest black church in Chicago, so there are a few thousand more blacks who see him as there leader.

I would say that all blacks who believe in black liberation theology are being led by Wright and those with similar views.

Make of it whatever you like, but alot of black people see Wright as their leader.

In addition, I have heard far more blacks on TV defending Wright than disavowing him.

McCain

has made it clear that he does not agree with everything Hagee says.

Sure Obama says he does not agree with everything Wright says. Still Obama was able to follow him as his mentor for twenty years. That is different from having someone who you do not know endorse you. Much of what Hagee says has validity. Some of what he says is pretty ridiculous.

The bottom line is that Hagee never was McCain's mentor and spiritual leader. Wright is Obama's mentor and spiritual leader.

OBAMA PHILOSOPHY
Does Barack Obama hate America? Rev. James David Manning, PhD has a different perspective says, “YES HE DOES.”
http://youtube.com/watch?v=6RyOPTtzTvI&feature=related

Obama’s "change" is tax everyone who earns a paycheck and corporate America into bankruptcy to finance his socialist entitlements. His "Global Poverty Act" sends $845 billion to the UN to feed, clothe, shelter, educate, medicate and arm Third World countries who hate Americans also.

Here is a film for the uninformed Americans about Islam’s onslaught of world dominion:

So, who wants him to stop?
Not me. He needs to keep this up for months. And Ferraro and the like need to keep making their comments. This is like asking to have the Super Bowl end after three quarters because it's not going well. What about the rest of us that want to watch the rest of the game and the commercials? And all these requests for Hillary to drop out or move the commitment date for the delegates up July 1. No way. You need to get our permission first.

Too much entertainment value for this to stop.

Obama reminds me
Obama reminds me of this Douglas Adams quote.

"He attacked everything in life with a mix of extraordinary genius and naive incompetence, and it was often difficult to tell which was which."

A few correct facts:
Neveragain says: "Careful what you say....
If we all take someone's words out of context and boil them down to three or four cherry-picked statements, we'd all be screwed."

Actually, Neveragain, the reason these speeches were able to be broadcast across the country is NOT because words were taken out of context. These speeches, in all their animated glory, were video-taped and sold on CDs/DVDs by the Trinity United church to help spread Wright's message. Trinity and Wright put his hate-filled vitriol out there verbatim, and the media only touched the tip of the iceburg.

And to Left Angle, who says: "I dont know a single black person that considers
Rev. Jesse Jackson, Rev. Al Sharpton and Rev. Jeremiah Wright or for that matter any of the people you mention to be:

"De facto Black Leaders and Official Spokesmen
of the U.S. Blacks"

I don't know where you live Left Angle, but I now live in South Carolina. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are considered not only leaders by the black community, they are considered "heroes".
Here, and everywhere else I've travelled through the South (from NC to Texas), it's the same. With gold chains and Rolex's for their efforts, both of these men attract HUGE crowds of cheering followers. Since Sharpton is on every major, national talk show being interviewed for every incident that could in any way be considered relevant to race issues, it's hard to believe that black people ANYWHERE could be unaware of his impact. And if Jesse Jackson doesn't speak for a large group of blacks, why then has he and his Rainbow Coalition been so successful in his fundraising attempts with Toyota, and other national and international organizations, for black causes? Puh-leeze!

Wright & Hitler
I think they compare quite nicely:

Both are raving racists. One would wipe whitey off the map if he could. The other unfortunately had the power to actually kill millions.

Their followers never knew anything about their racists attitudes. In BO's case after 20 years in Rev Wrights pews and in the German people's case when 6,000,000 Jews disappeared around them!

I know I'm an idiot for thinking that racist people of all colors are basically the same @ssholes know matter what kind of crap they're preaching.

Left Angle,

so, what are BHO's views on race? We know the views of his pastor, his church, his wife and at least one of his superdelegates. They all believe Freedom IS NOT Enough. Whites owe blacks more. Does Obama believe that?

Freedom is all America has to offer and for most people, black, white, yellow, brown, and red, that is enough. Is it enough for Obama? Or does he want to fan the flames of racial division a little more?

Would you hang out with people with whom you disagree on such fundamental issues?

Have you heard Obama say he wants a color blind government and a color blind America?

Has Obama come out and said programs based on race are wrong?

If he has, please refer me to a place where I can confirm this.

Out of context "snippets"??
OK BO. You have the floor. Let's see half an hour of unedited sermons of Wright's real philosophic beliefs. You know, the ones that inspired you to be a uniter.

eddie
Perhaps you are among the many townhall posters who have told us that they did not watch, hear, or read Obama's race speech and they do not watch his other speeches either or even the Democrat debates. Obama's feelings about race have been made very clear in his speeches. Apparently you have chosen not to listen.

Your turn, Left Angle
In answer to your ridiculous question as to when Jackson, Sharpton and Wright became the de facto official spokepersons and leaders of blacks in the U.S., you're kidding right? Who does the media go to whenever the issue of racism arises? Don Imus, Jena 6, Tawana Brawley etc., etc. The faces of Jackson and Sharpton are all over the place when thise issues emerge. It's as if they were the official spokespeople for blacks in America.
As far as Rev. Wright goes, he merely has a 20 year association with Barack Obama, you know, the leading candidate for the democratic presidential nomination.
And, we can only hope that Rev. Wright doesn't amass such power among blacks like Rev. Jackson and Sharpton have, contrary to your assertion to the contrary.
I can't believe this actually has to be explained to you.

What is it going to take?

I have really had it.

Before I make my comment, let me say that I have worked with black people for many years-- people who are normal, courteous, professional, decent, well-spoken and nothing like the "Reverend" Jeramiah Wright.

But on the other hand, I have observed for years and years as America has been bashed by obnoxious activists belonging to all different kinds of fringe groups, including black activists.

The thing that is really upsetting me the most is not that there is an isolated derranged preacher in Chicago who is ranting and raving about his hate for the best country that ever existed.

It is not even the fact that Barak Obama attended such a hate-filled congregation, nor the fact that he contrubuted many thousands of dollars so that this racist pastor can retire in a lavish home. Now that the jig is up, he will not likely be elected.

And although it was very disturbing to see the congretation celebrating the hate message that was coming out of the pulpit, it was not that alone that is upsetting me.

It is the fact that all kinds of black people are calling in to radio talk shows saying something like this:

"You only listened for a few minutes: you didn't hear the whole sermon."

As if anything else he said can erase the nasty, mean-spirited vitriol we have all heard.

Beyond this, I ask myself: "What is it going to take before you professional victims stop with the hatred?"

How can he say "G#d D##n. America," when during the American Civil War, nearly 600,000 beautiful young men and our greatest American President gave their lives so that they could be free today?

Or how about the fact that, in the 1960s, the federal government of the United States sent troops to places of residual racism to make sure that black kids could get a better education?

Christianity and race
I was raised with a sense of bigotry and racism. But I became a committed Christian, and later in church I heard my pastor teaching on Numbers chapter 12. Miriam, Moses'sister, criticized him for marrying an Ethiopian woman. Yes, Moses married a black woman. God's response for Miriam's criticism? Read it. God turned Miriam into a leper. Numbers chapter 12 is a bit more complex than I have compressed here, but suffice it to say that as to the race issue involved and God's unequivocal response, any vestiges of racism I may have continued to hold ended forever based on how God sees it. If Mr. Wright took the Word of God seriously, he would end forever his race-based thinking. And if Mr. Obama maintains he is also a Christian, his support of Wright is problematic. In Christ there is no race.

White Ministers

Finally some justice.

What is it going to take? Part II
...Or how about all the kind decent Americans who learned to change their attitudes, to be careful in their speech so as to not inadvertantly hurt anyone's feelings?

If black people wonder why so many whites speak cautiously around them, it is because we are being extra careful to not say something that might be misunderstood.

So, after all this tip-toeing around that whites have been doing for decades, certain black people continue to act hatefully toward us and toward the America that sacrificed so much to set their ancestors free.

And to have black people call into radio shows to say: that we should listen to the rest of what Wright says, as if that is going to make up for the nasty hate-filled speech.

I might feel different if this were during Jim Crow, or shortly thereafter, but PLEEZE! Many of the well-dressed people I saw celebrating Wright's ranting and raving were wearing clothing I could not afford to buy! These people are clearly successful and living Martin Luther King's dream, AND YET THEY STILL HATE AMERICA.

Well, that is it.

No more self censorship, because I have never in my life said anything that was anywhere approaching the hate that the bros and sistahs defend.

Lily

you know what I got out of BHO's speech on race?

I heard him say everybody has a right to be upset over race, but blacks have a right to be more upset. I agree with that. Still, I am left to say, so what? Is there really any reasonable person left who doesn't think racism is bad?

Then he said we should all try to rise above race. This is a revelation? This is inspiring?

Then he said, but before we put race behind us we should realize that we have an obligation to make things right where racism has tainted the culture. This is where he loses me. What does that mean, make things right? He did not offer one concrete action that would address what he sees as the problem of race in America.

Maybe I missed it. You apparently are very familiar with the speech. Maybe you could interpret it for us and point out what was substantive about it.

Lily,

Do you think BHO ever heard Wright curse from the pulpit?

gayle: ignorance is bliss..
do what i asked you to do..ask any black person do they consider sharpton/jackson to be "black leaders and official spokespersons" they will
laugh in your face and call you what you indeed are: IGNORANT

I could care less who the media goes to...ask the people yourself what THEY THINK.

Oh i understand your "conspiracy theorie" perfectly..what you dont understand in you IGNORNACE.. is that rhetoric like that of rev wrights is quite common in the black community.
it's just shocking to you as a white person because you never heard it before. one more thing youre IGNORANT about..black people have
two personas..one they present when they are in the company of whites and another when they are aroound each other...whats so ironic about it is that white people are the same way..they say some pretty nasty stuff about black people among themselves that they wouldnt say to a black persons face...comprende?

You give me hope that logic and reason can overcome the disease of the mind called liberalism.

Liberal does not mean Democrat or Republican or Libertarian or Conservative - it describes the infection that is destroying our society. The infection has spread everywhere.

God, Family, Country is the values I love - in that order.

I was reading today where a liberal group is trying to say that if "I say to my Daughters that God loves you more than I do" I should be charged with child abuse.

tuxedo: do you know the difference
between a de facto leader/offical spokesperson
and a politcal activist/advocate...

i'd suggest you find out..a like i said what you

TWO white ministers doing damage control
To Heavy Doug and the YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anpI-BKp5cg

Oh, puh-leeze! Damage Control? Too little, too late. Swiss-German cowbells and Japanese paper cranes have no comparison to damning America and accusing white people of deliberately creating the AIDS virus to kill blacks. Please tell us that they're not doing that in their other congregations too! Black Liberation Theology is obviously acceptable and integral to 5700 congregations across the United Church of Christ according to this video. Excellent justice!

Left Angle: Yes I do know the difference
I live, work, and go to church with many black people, and I've discussed this matter with them at length.

I also know how to correct spelling typos.

Anything else?

Out of context?
I don't think that anyone has taken Wright's comments out of context including Obama. We know exactly what he meant.

BTW, I heard on the news yesterday that Wright was building a $1.6million, 10,000 sf house in Chicago funded by his "poor" church. God Damn America!

Thanks!

I guess that when I hear black people talk about Pastor Wright as if his hate spouting is normal, I feel alarmed in the same way I did when I had lunch at a well-known chain restaurant one afternood.

As I stood at the counter, waiting for the cashier to ring me up, I glanced down at a display of lolly-pops on the counter.

Something was moving.

Looking closer, I realized it was a brown German Cockroach, crawling over the wrappers.

I called the attention of the young cashier to the offender, and she casually glanced down.

"Oh, yeah," she said non-chalantly as she handed me my change.

Of course this is a funny story (less funny at the time, because I had just eaten there) but it makes my point.

It was more upsetting to me that she did not seem alarmed that there was a cockroach crawling mere inches away from her, as if this was a normal occurance, as if she were accustomed to their presence.

In the same way, I am aghast that black people can hear the hate speech of Pastor Wroght and not be alarmed, as if this was a normal way to speak about the country of one's birth.

Left Angle is Loopy
What makes you assume I am white? Is is something I said?
Regardless of who is or who is not your spokesperson, the media offers Jackson and Sharpton as the "go to" guys when charges of racism are raised. In the political world,
perception is reality whether you want to admit it or not.I commend you and your peers for rejecting Jackson and Sharpton as your leaders and I don't blame you for your resentment of that media creation. I wish I could suggest some action you could take to rectify this situation as it is very unfair and probably unrepresentative of the black community.
I would appreciate it if you could respond to my remarks without calling me names. Thank you.

Thank you, MDoggg!
Thank you!

Apparently, there are some

blacks, just like there are some whites, for whom it will always be about race. Too bad, so sad. But in the end the anger and hatred affects the angry and hateful far more than it affects the objects of their anger and hatred.

Life does not have to include anger and hatred toward other human beings.

Didn't vet his pastor?
That's the core responsibility of being a congregant! Sermons must be consistent with the faith the leader claims to be leading others to grow in. In the case of Jeremiah Wright, he appears to be political rather than spiritual. There is no Biblical example of Mr. Wright's style and messages in scripture- not one. If Obama can't figure this out, its because he doesn't know any better or knows and agrees with Wright. Neither option is a good recommendation for Obama.

Bottom line
Early on in his drive to POTUS, Slick Willy through Sistr Souljah under the bus in a few well-chosen unequivocal words. Did it cost him any votes? Posssibly a few, but where else were black yellow dog Dems to go? And he reassured millions of white Americans he rejected Black Liberation Theology. Whether he does or not is moot. BO would have done well to follow the Master. Throw Wright in the dumpster months ago, within hours of mounting the national stage and he no longer needed him in Illinois. It would have cost him nothing, as 99% of his black supporters would see it as a political move to gain white support. But he didn't and its too late for him to say anything that will convince me he rejects BLT. The thought of voting for McCain makes me nauseous, but Hillary and now BO have succeeded in making him look much better. I may have to abandon my planned donald Duck write-in.

MDogg

Very Funny.

However, let me point out that when I was a child it was normal to tell jokes that made fun of the way that black people spoke (remember the tired old "ho-de-do" elevator joke?)

But it became forbidden to tell such stories, because black people did not really speak like that any more. Black people REALLY spoke like Coretta Scott King, Sidney Poitier, Bill Cosby and James Earl Jones. Acting as if black people still spoke like Prissy in Gone With The Wind was supposedly innacurate and insulting.

O.K., so they spoke better than me. Fine, I will just go over here and tell Pollak jokes instead.

Next thing I knew, the Lefties were insisting that the ignorant-sounding speech (which I had been told was demening to black people) was suddenly supposed to be a dialect called "Ebonics," and that black children were supposed to be encouraged to use it.

When listened to people speaking this so-called dialect, it reminded me of the speech patterns of Step 'N' Fetchit, a comedic actor that was supposed to be portraying a racist stereotype.

So which is it?

Are we supposed to respect you because you are now educated and speak like normal people, or are we supposed to butt out because you insist on speaking like uneducated "feel' han's?"

Obama's Thinking
Before we put the power of a nation in the hands of a freshman senator, we should continue trying to understand who he is. Of course, that is the reason to examine his relationship with Jerimiah Wright but also includes his wife. Perhaps this has already been discussed on TH but I didn't see it.

Last month Michelle Obama made a speech that included the following: "Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed." Huh?

She said further, "Before we can work on the problems we have to fix our souls. Our souls are broken in this nation."

This is scary stuff, and if it doesn't represent the way Sen Obama thinks, why does he allow his wife to give these speeches?

eddie too
it is obvious the whole wright issue continues to be a divisive issue. One of wright's white minister supporters is from the far left. It's not so much who is defending hiom but where they come from. The far left can always finds ways to be angry with america and make excuses for the anti-social behavior of those they defend. But the final judges on the wright controversy will be the voters. Many of those of us on the right were opposed to both the clinton's and the oblahma's long before this controversy began. Many saw both as nothing more than socialists more interested in continuing the old dim practice of tax and spend. But far from being the highly intelligent gent the msm has been telling us the oblahma is, we are witnessing someone more intent on turning himself into a pretzel while trying to justify wright's words and his allegiance to wright and the message he claims he never heard.

Barack and The View
Barack Obama can support and defend his pastor all his wants. The fact remains that Wright is an America-hating racist. No human being speaks with the vitriol and hatred that he did on the 7 or 8 occasions which were taped and shown on TV -- but never ever did that before or after.

Gimme a break. This guy has been spewing bile for years on end, and it was and is apparent that his black congregation supports his statements whole-heartedly. And Barack is one of them.

If that's what America wants to elect as a President, then they are just as stupid as I thought.

White Ministers

Take it to em' guys.

Arby
The truth isn't so cut and dry. We were given the worst of Wright's 36 years of preaching. What person could stand up to that kind of scrutiny? If you'd only listen to his whole speech, you could see how plainly he is a Christian who hates not whites, but injustice and evil. Why too, doesn't anyone care that Hannity and McCain and Bush and Reagan all had a dark past with associating with bigots and hate mongers? Mitt Romney got a free pass from the MSM, how fair is that? Rove, who is an athiest calls Christains "nutjobs" behind their backs. And, seriously, is there a more evil man than Dick Cheyne?

No conservative entitlement Amanda
Of course Obama is solid in his friendship with Pastor Wright.

Conservatives seem to think they have an entitlement to dictate to other people what their values should be, who they should associate with, talk to, like, dislike. News for you, Amanda. Conservatives have no such entitlement in the Constitution.

You're giving free advice, of course, and like all free advice yours is worth just as much as it costs to get it, which is zero.

Obama has his own values, which I think are superior to yours, and is his own man. You just can't swallow the fact that he is his own man and not kow towing to the self-anointed, conservative conviction of entitlement.

Challenge for Wright haters
Those of you who hate Dr. Wright need to face some facts:

1) The man has probably preached over four thousand hours of sermons.

2) If the two or three clips we've all seen, which were spoken in the hot afterglow of 9/11 mind you, were typical of the mans ministry, then there should be thousands of examples of him saying similar things.

If you cannot locate thousands of such examples, or at least dozens, then I think it's incumbent upon you to admit this might be an aberration.

3) The man is a former Marine, honorably discharged. If you weren't willing to give your life to defend this country, you should thank him for his service and shut the f up.

"tired old arguments" of moral relativism.

Bad behaviour is justified by other bad behaviour.

Wrights rants are "evil and wrong" and anyone else, any other race, any other political party who does the same - is "evil and wrong".

The subject is Obama and his defence of "evil and wrong".

Obama has already made it crystal clear that he will defend those who are "evil and wrong".

How can Catholics continue to sit in the pews of a church that protected pedophiles among it's ranks from prosecution for decades?

Any Catholics condemning Obama for not leaving his church over the Wright comments are hypocrites; especially you, Sean Hannity.

Those of you who hate Dr. Wright need to face some facts:

I didn't read any comments that suggested anyone "hated" wright. That's typical liberal spin.

1) The man has probably preached over four thousand hours of sermons.

So what?

2) If the two or three clips we've all seen, which were spoken in the hot afterglow of 9/11 mind you, were typical of the mans ministry, then there should be thousands of examples of him saying similar things.

You only have to stick your foot in your mouth once. Just ask Senator Allen.

If you cannot locate thousands of such examples, or at least dozens, then I think it's incumbent upon you to admit this might be an aberration.

See my previous comment.

3) The man is a former Marine, honorably discharged. If you weren't willing to give your life to defend this country, you should thank him for his service and shut the f up.

You only have to trash your country once to lose credibility. No one said he wasn't an American and veteran.

Wright and Hate
I do not hate Wright, I hate racism and hate speech. Those who practice hate and exclusion instead of inclusion and acceptance have my greatest disdain.

Those who served or is serving to protect my family and I - their service have my greatest respect. What those who serve do after their service is judged by their behaviour.

An otherwise exemplary life at the trial of a murderer may be taken into account when the sentence, is handed down but doesn't make one innocent.

Words from a racist can kill - consider Osama Bin Laden who has never been charged with actually murdering someone himself.

phylo
exactly how does anyone's past give them them a pass for later actions. Hitler was a decorated war hero during WW1 but later became one of the worst persons of the century. Wright also had a more priviledged growing up with a lot of exposure to whites but he doesn't seem to recall any favorable experiences with whites. Since none of us were there to hear all of wright's speeches or his private converstgations with the oblahma we have no way to judge what level of influence wright the mentor has over the oblahma the mentee. But from her appearences the missus oblahma has no difficulty is telling whites they suufer from the remnants of racism. It seems that her explanation is she already had those views or she picked them up from wright.

Wow---
It appears that Baraky and his Rev. buddy Wright have sure got the "Klan With a Tan Congregation" going full blast within the confines of this so called Chicago church. What is next for them, banning white milk, paper, bread, and white cars????

Proud Liberal & Obama
"Conservatives seem to think they have an entitlement to dictate to other people what their values should be, who they should associate with, talk to, like, dislike. News for you, Amanda. Conservatives have no such entitlement in the Constitution."

Hey Proud Liberal - that sure is calling the kettle black! You and all your liberal toadies are the ones that want to pass all of these "Nanny" Laws dictitating how we should live, what to drive, what to eat, where to go to school etc etc. It's all your liberal nut job
friends here in California that have taken a once great state to a nightmare state with the 47th worst school systems in the country, illegals taking over and entitling themselves to ever handout imaginable, this going "Green" crap, zero emissions crap and freeways that are falling apart...shall I go on? Unfortunately all the other liveral whack jobs in this country are following suit and running things into the ground. The Repubs & Dems in Washington are doing it on national level.

How is Obama any different? Answer - He isn't.
Obama said he wasn't sitting in any pews of the church listening to Jeremiah's sermons. Doesn't mean he wasn't standing.

It's just a case of Jeremiah was a bullfrog, was a good friend of mine....

So before you start spewing your lies and misstatements Proud Liberal, check your facts Jack!

Retired Geek
Would you please explain what Wright said that was evil. The guy went over the top when Hillary started saying Blacks were bad and cutting down their heroes. That he was a marine and got upset is understandable in those circumstances. What would your marine pastor say if a Black guy attacked your heroes? In any event, Christianity and Judaism are all about mercy and forgiveness. David had another man murdered so he could have his wife, for heaves sake, and we want to judge this fine minister on anger? A few of his worst sermons are on Utube, I'd recommend the serious voter to take a look.

taft
there is always a disconnect between what people say and what others heard. I someone is spouting a message that disparages others but the listeners agree they will find nothing offensive about the message. You seem to believe that the wright rantings were the rare and unusual. If that were the case they would stand out even more. Jesse jackson jr. has said that wright's message of black venting is common in black churches wherte the congregants go to let off steam from the other six days of dealing with whites. Sounds very devisive if this is the case. If whites are exposed to gansta rap 6 days a week and meet on sundays to talk about how hateful the find the music and what is wrong with "n" bomb persons making that music, is that likewise justified

retired geek
You say you hate hate speech. In that case, I take it that you hate Sean Hannity's and Rush Limbaugh's shows. After all, they're all about teaching people to hate liberals. These sacks of squirming sacks of manure have made it so that I can't even talk about politics with people in my own family because they're heads are filled with so much misinformation and distortions and false assumptions about how I think. It wasn't like this in this country before Limbaugh crawled out from under his rock. These extremist windbags are ripping America apart at the seams! And they're laughing all the way to the bank. They make money by getting you jacked up on hatred for liberals.

I come here to this site because I feel it is my patriotic duty to correct some of the misinformation you people are walking around with about liberals.

Here's one: Barack is not a socialist or a marxist. He's a big believer in entrepreneurism. I'll bet you didn't know that, did you?

Let me anticipate the argument. He wants universal health care Phylo, that makes him a socialist.

Actually, his plan does not involve having government run our health care system. It's run though private insurers. It would merely be regulated in such a way as to make it less expensive and more fair.

And has it ever occurred to you folks that some of our best institutions are socialist institutions? The fire and police departments are socialist institutions. So is the military. And believe it or not, some liberals today actually believe that we should get rid of any government programs that aren't providing a net benefit.

Heck, you guys should be begging for more socialism in this country. It is a lack of government regulation that led to the housing bubble and the current mortgage crisis.

Republicans keep telling you that they are about making this country safer and more prosperous. How much longer do you need to realize that they have brought us just the opposite?

What do you think of Dr Rice's comments––that America still suffers from "a birth defect"; that being the defect of racism?

If this were Barack, or Michelle Obama saying this, Sean Hannity would be paraphrasing this for his audience like so: "Basically, Obama is saying that America is some kind of mutant. Huh? Isn't that what he's basically saying? And some of you... some of you want this guy to be President. Unbelievable. Is that? I mean, that's outrageous. Nice guy. Calls America a mutant. Unbelievable. Unbelievable."

But because it's Condoleeza Rice saying that America is a mutant baby, he's going to totally ignore it.

I'm serious. I think he would said something very close to that. The man has no honor, no integrity whatsoever. I must say, even as a Zen Buddhist, I find it very difficult to feel compassion for him, and for Limbaugh. But at least I try.

Hating what a person says and does and hating the person doing it is two different things. Liberal logic is so flawed that a rationale conclusion like that is foreign to them.

I personally support anyone who hates the Liberal message and loves the liberal person.

The "Great Society" is a liberal solution that has damaged more lives, spread more crime, destroyed more values, cost more money than anything else during my lifetime.

The fact that liberal solutions destroys the most vulnerable and weak amongst us even make their crimes against humanity more heinous.

BTW, republican, democrat, and libertarian solutions that are spawned by liberal thinking are just as evil.

Taft
Wright said that he had an epiphany when he read the following words - words that changed his life, his theology and his thinking.

"Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community. . . . Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love".

Obama's "church"
How does anyone in their right mind honor Farrahkan? How come black racists always get a pass?

"Obama describes his new found "Christian" faith as: (1) Suspicious of dogma (2) Without any monopoly on the truth (3) Nontransferable to others (4) Infused with a big healthy dose of doubt, and (5) Indulgent of and compatible with all other religions.

On Feb 15/08, Usama K. Dakdok, President of The Straight Way of Grace Ministry called Obama's Church and reported the following conversation: " I then asked the person who answered what I needed to do to join. She told me that I needed to attend two Sunday School classes in a row and then I would walk the aisle. I replied, "That sounds easy. One last question please. If I am Muslim and I believe in the Prophet Mohammed, peace be unto him and I also believe in Jesus, peace be unto him, do I have to give up my Islamic faith to be a member in your church? She answered: "No, we have many Muslim members in our church.""

Obama's more perfect union, will be the North American Union.

Sean Hannity is the biggest coward on radio and tv.

I called into his show and he ran like a stuck pig. As soon as he hears some competition. He loves to debate people that are so far out he you can't help but to look good.

And that turkey is these guys hero.

I hope he pays for what he did to Wright.

By the way Wildwest has his own very personal issues to deal with.

So take it easy on him.

Socialists don't know they are Socialist
Some folks posting to this website say that "Obama is NOT a Socialist". Please look at the communist manefesto, and compare it to Obama's website that contain his "plans". Then after reviewing Obama's website, look at Section two of the US Constitution. Using logic and reason, you will discover Obama is a socialist...along with the other two candidates. If Obama wins, get ready for high taxes for ALL, because the taxes on the rich will be passed down to the poor.

What's wrong with Obama? Doesn't he know if he crawls in the dirt, the attacks will stop? Obama must know by now if he would just say those words, I Obama, because it was demanded that I do so, and once I do so the attacks will stop, hereby DISOWN Reverend Wright. Then after Obama says those words, he can apologize for being a racist, anti American, Manchurian candidate, and a Marxist. Why stop there, Obama has to also explain why he exposed his wife and children to Reverend Wright which was poor judgment for someone who wants to be President. Have we left something out. Oh yes, lets not forget character. How can a person be destroyed without attacking his character as well. Obama has no character. There it's out there, therefore it must be true. Good thing those tapes came out. Can Americans imagine a sleeper cell like Obama Reverend Wright trained, allowed to run for the Presidency. Who knows what dangers this country could be in if Obama wins the Presidency. One call from Reverend Wright and this country is done for. We can be grateful to the dozens of people who are specially trained in the field, because it was their specially trained eyes and hears that broke through the Reverends tapes to interpret what the tapes really mean. Without these specially trained people the FBI and CIA would love to have, we never would have found out all the things we have about Obama. Boy, are we lucky to have these specially trained people here with us, explaining the Reverends tapes to us simple minded people.

we can nothing to change the past. But holding persons alive to day in some form of collective guilt over what occurred in the past makes no sense. As long as persons continue to hold on the past they cannot move forward. Anyone who can't see that many of the commentators on the radio are there to keep an audience tittilated over various subjects doesn't keep his audience long. But as outrageuous as hannity may be he never crossed the line the way air america did. Obama on Education
Obama on Education
“I don’t want to send another generation of American children to failing
schools. I don’t want that future for my daughters. I don’t want that
future for your sons. I do not want that future for America.”
- Barack Obama
Jefferson-Jackson Dinner, Des Moines, Iowa
November 10, 2007
-------------------------------------------------

Obama Solution: Determine those teachers that ARE doing their job and pay them more.

Obama doesn't tell us whether preferences, quotas or affirmative action will be used to
determine those teachers who are doing their job.

Teachers who are causing the "failing schools" will continue to teach - according to the Obama plan.

It is estimated that 3.2 million teachers will teach the 49.6 million students in 2007-2008.

Logically one could conclude that a significant nimber of teachers are contributing to the

"failing schools" syndrome. Assume 10%, that means 320,000 teachers are teaching 4,960,000

students - that leaves each state (on average) with 100,000 students with a failed
education.

Obama doesn't inform us to why those "failure contributors" shouldn't be doing something
else.

The Obama plan for education:

If you are doing the job you were hired to do I will pay you more than your current pay.

If you are NOT doing the job you were hired to do I will continue your current pay.

Maybe this Obama solution applied to Wright and his preaching as well.

"The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community. . . ."

"Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy."

"What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love."

================================
Rev. Wright credits Prof. Jim Cone with systematizing the principles of "Black Values System", the theology being used by Rev. Wright in the Trinity United Church of Christ, the church the O'Blame-Ya's attend with their two children every Sunday!

Week after week Barak & Michelle Obama forced their kids to absorb the racist rantings of his "mentor and spiritual advisor" Rev Wright (though now he denies ever describing Jerry as such)!
Does anyone really think O'Blame-Ya's kids think of Jeremiah as being "the crazy uncle" their father does? Or is it more likely they think the Reverend's words & behavior are normal?

So... at the same time he would have us believe he is the 'Post-Racial Uniter', Senator Barry O'Blame-Ya'll is responsible for exposing his two young children to the bigoted, racist and hateful rhetoric of 'uncle Jerry' & worse still he thinks we should allow him to make decisions for OUR CHILDREN when he can't even do the right thing by his own.

AND can anyone tell me - Where does the O'Blame-Ya family attend services now?

OBAMA EMBRACES BLACK LIBERATION THEOLOGY
The problem is Black Liberation Theology. It's what the church is based on and Wright has stated this many times.

What about a "theology" which is based in hate. Is that acceptable to anyone?

I got the following from here: http://www.qando.net/details.aspx?Entry=8159
Cone, Wright, Trinity UCC and black liberation theology

The acknowledged founder of current black liberation theology is one James H. Cone. Rev. Wright acknowledges Cone as the father of the theology he expressly believes in.

More importantly though, if this church has been the one that "most embodied" James Cone's message, how in the world has Senator Obama remained so blissfully unaware for 23 years?

Despite the speech and the absurd and morally relative comparison between Wright and his "Typical White Person" grandmother - I have to agree that he does believe and his morals have been affected by it.

The Nutty Reverend Dilemma
Given how vulnerable conservatives are to charges that they support their own "nutty reverends," maybe they should just move on and find a way to campaign on the issues that are important to the future of the nation. Oh wait, they can't, because campaigning on the issues would lead to sure defeat in November.

I like this as an issue in November
This is a winning issue for McCain and conservatives, period. I can't believe Obama (and Phylo whoever that is) keep bringing this up. Word, stop talking about this, take the damage this has done to Obama, and pray that it goes away as much as possible. Any conservative with a very close friendship to David Duke or someone that like that (who dislikes blacks as much as Wright dislikes whites) would have to throw that person under the bus post haste; the liberal Democrat media would completely stop the news cylce and report on nothing else until he did that or withdraw completely from the race (see the liberal Democrat media's treatment of Trent Lott for saying some nice words about a dying old man).

Repeat after me, I like this as an issue for November, I like this an issue for November, , , , , ,

PET SNAKES
Remember the recent story of a man who owned a "pet" poisonous snake? To show how tame the snake was, and how much he trusted the snake, he put the snake's head in his mouth.

Well, lo and behold, the snake did pretty much what comes naturally to a snake. It bit him.

I don't remember the end of the story.

There seems to be a parallel here with the story of Obama and Wright. Sometimes your best friends can make you sorry, sorry, sorry.

Language Abuse
John Shaft says, "Using logic and reason, you will discover Obama is a socialist...along with the other two candidates."

My logic and reason tell me that I should not use a term in a way that does not fit its common definition. My American Heritage dictionary defines socialism as "A social system in which the means of producing and distributing goods are owned collectively and political power is exercised by the whole community." None of the three leading candidates for President supports such a system. I get tired of people whose ideology is so extreme that they automatically throw out terms like "socialist," "communist," or "far left" any time someone suggests that corporations should be regulated or that taxes should high enough to cover the cost of programs that most Americans deem appropriate for government to manage.

Maverick on Wright tapes
Actually I suspect that the source of the tapes is in fact the Obama camp. Just consider, the Wright connection has been floating around under the radar for since last fall, if this was coming from quarters hostile to Obama it stands to reason that they would have distributed the videos in the days prior to one of the big primary votes forcing Obama off message without time to organize a countering strategy. As it has actually played out the tapes hit the media at the beginning of the longest break in a truncated primary schedule, allowing him at least some control over the debate.

Just a thought.

This is getting good.

Well said. The number of people who believe that Obama is a socialist and a Muslim is astonishing. These people will buy anything!

Anna on black racists given a pass
What you suggest reminds me the spiritual figurehead of the conservative movement, Ronald Reagan. At the height of the civil rights struggle Reagan endorsed the right of homeowners to practice housing discrimination based on race. He chose to kick off his 1980 campaign in Philadelphia MS, the scene of the most notorious civil rights murders of 16 years earlier with an endorsement of states' rights. In the same campaign he stated he had opposed civil rights legislation in part because it would be humiliating to the South.

My question is this, considering Reagan's history of race baiting, why do conservatives give him a 'pass' and revere him as a paragon of American values?
