Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

In a remarkable departure from her long-standing, tight-lipped policy against discussing her personal life, Hillary Clinton gushed about her marriage to husband Bill in a recent interview.

The disclosure was so significant that Rick Klein and Nancy Flores of ABC’s “The Note” wrote it was a big step in the “great softening of Hillary Clinton.”

Other Clinton watchers, however, say the effort is nothing more than a calculated public relations campaign to humanize Mrs. Clinton and quiet questions about her marital relationship.

Essence, a fashion magazine targeted to black women, published an interview online on October 22 in which Clinton called her husband a “romantic” and showed off a Chanel watch he had brought her home from a trip.

She pointed to the watch band, made of white ceramic pieces and said, “I had dental surgery, and he said it reminded him of teeth.”

Biographer Sally Bedell Smith, author of the newly-released “For the Love of Politics” which closely examines the Clinton’s relationship, said in a phone interview that this kind of media outreach was part of a long-standing political “pattern” the Clintons have used.

She said the Clintons have always “very carefully released tidbits [of their personal lives] that don’t contain that much information.”

“Neither one is going to say how they really interact with each other and it’s always their private conversations other people are trying to figure out,” Smith explained.

In the Essence interview, Clinton also entertained questions about her husband’s infidelity. She said “I have never doubted that it was a marriage worth investing in even in the midst of those challenges, and I'm really happy that I made that decision."

Smith said this wasn’t news either. “From the very beginning she tolerated his infidelity. She just decided that she was going to put up with it because there were various advantages to that.” Smith remarked, “Bill has always given her little gifts….usually when he has misbehaved and needs to win her favor back.”

Emmett Tyrell, founder and editor of the American Spectator and author of “The Clinton Crackup,” said Mrs. Clinton’s “whole life is a public relations campaign.” In order to win in 2008, he said it would be “politically important” for Clinton to discuss her marriage, but “it’s pretty difficult to explain the inexplicable.”

He called her the “greatest enabler in the world.”

Clinton’s chief strategist Mark Penn has told the media many women will vote for Clinton because she will be the first woman on a presidential ballot, but Smith said that Clinton wasn’t a “pure choice” for many women.

“It would be easier for a woman [to win] who had gotten there on her own, like Margaret Thatcher,” Smith said. She said it would be difficult to predict how the couple, who once pitched themselves as a “two for one,” would share power. If Hillary wins in 2008,. “which President would it be at any given moment?” she asked.

In addition to the Essence interview, there are a number of other indications Clinton is trying to feminize her image. She has appeared on ABC’s “The View” where she chatted about her hair, joked about her penchant for pantsuits with CNN, and discussed her pregnancy with daughter Chelsea in recent weeks.

Richard Collins, president of StopHerNow.com, which seeks to mobilize people against Clinton’s candidacy, said “It’s all showbiz.”

“She uses everything like a prop. Just like that cat she discarded.”

His reference is to the Clintons’ former First Feline, a white-footed cat named Socks. As First Lady, Mrs. Clinton published a children’s book that featured the cat, titled “Dear Socks, Dear Buddy: Kids’ Letters to the First Pets.” After leaving the White House, the Clintons gave the cat to Mr. Clinton’s personal secretary, Bettie Currie.

While the Clintons appear to be willing to release some details about their relationship, a great number remain, literally, under lock and key.

On the campaign trail, Clinton touts the experience she gained as First Lady working on matters like healthcare, but public access remains closed to records inside her husband’s Presidential Library that deal with policies Mrs. Clinton was involved in shaping. The taxpayer-funded library, located in Little Rock, Arkansas, has been operating for nearly three years, but only one half of one percent of the records are available to the public.

Michael Isikoff reports in the new edition of Newsweek that Mr. Clinton made a November 2002 request to the National Archives, which controls this information, that “confidential communications” related to foreign policy, “sensitive policy, personal or political issues, “legal issues and advice” which encompass federal investigations and “communications directly between the President and First Lady, and their families, unless routine in nature” be withheld.

Subsequently, numerous Freedom of Information Act requests submitted by reporters and authors like Smith to the National Archives to gain access to these documents have been refused.

The Clintons have also declined to disclose the names of those who donated money to the library.

Personally..
I think the Clintons' plan is to coax right-wing pundits into being SO obsessed with them that they devote full columns to discussing the LACK of information about their personal lives.

Devilry, I say.

Kahryl writes: Devilry!
When your right your right!...But...That is the whole point! why all the secrecy? It really does inspire obsession...and...distrust.

What a lovely gift. Perhaps Bill thought she had gone to be de-fanged.

clinton's, the two-headed monster
when it suits her purpose she was co-president but when it is embarrassing or might show her in a bad light, she says: bill clinton, never heard of him. She knows that without bubba as anopther twosome she stands little chance knowing how much more the left adores him and can barely tolerate her. But her past history of being his enabler and his chief attack dog shows they are so joined at the hip that she may be the public face but bubba will be in charge. She has never stood up to bubba in their long history together, why should anyone believe she will act without him now. The p[ublic should be more wary of this twosome arrangement this time. In 92 there was the thought that she would be a type of advisor as the public never understood the clinton's relationship. This time around no one should be deceived. The missus clinton is without any doubt no more than a policy wonk without any vision of the future. She thinks that trying to be everything to everybody and promising everything every special interest group is asking for this will guarantee her election. What she doesn't understand is that if she is elected we expect to be the president for the entire country and not those merely supporting her election. I doubt she understands this simple fact

Yeah, right
Hillary would have thrown that double-crossing two-timing sleazy cheater of a husband out on his sorry derriere years ago if she had not had voracious political ambitions of her own.

I don't frankly care what's in the Clinton library. It's an unfortunate reality that my tax dollars go to support such evidence of presidential debauchery, but it's no more than that. What I care about is the fact that other than serving 2 senate terms, Hillary has NO experience whatsoever doing anything other than being married to a governor and a president -- and THAT is clearly not sufficient experience to lead the country. She is far more a professional first lady than she is a professional anything else (except maybe for socialist). She must be defeated. Then, she can throw the two-timing cheater out on his rear and be done with him for good.

Calculating Clintons
The Clintons are cold, crass, creepy, calculating, crooked and clandestine. Other than that, what's not to like? Bill's already a two-timer, don't give him a third term. Le'Chaim.

Clinton '08? Hill no!
Free Ramos and Compean

Give me a break
Who cares about the Clinton's personal life.

If I was married to Hillery I think I would consider a vow of chastity and join a monastery.

g i joe
i used to ask the question, the missus clinton or self abuse. Occasionally i would find someone who claimed the missus clinton was a real hottie. But these were generally convicts who had recently been released from prison and were looking for any woman as a change from their prison escapades. But exactly how can anyone fault bubba for straying. But you do have question his choice of women, but then again he did marry his missus

Arby
You should get the next Peace Prize.

Hillary has NO experience as an executive leader anywhere.

She has lots of exp. illegally wiretapping and eaves dropping on opponents in 1992,

running a war room to debase and degrade Bill's other women as he debased and degraded her--a fine example for someone who has to face foreign tyrants and terrorists

takng illegal campaign funds and associating with criminals

hiring criminals like Sandy Berger, convicted felon, and Craig Livingston, her WH security chief who disappeared after Vince Foster's death and who was never recommd'd by the Sec. Service

avoiding the law for which as a lawyer and officer of the court she is sworn to uphold by ignoring subpoenas for her Rose Law Firm records, the illegal 1000 IRS forms in the WH safe, and revealing where the Vince Foster records were that disappeared with Craig Livingston

I rest my case

Oh what a choice
Hillery or Janet Reno, homosexuality is not an option?

Clinton's Are Despicable
No one ever brings suit against these Communist/Socialist left leaning Clintons. They are denying the public access to the people's papers stored in the Clinton library. We have more access to Russian Communist papers in the Moscow archives than to the Clinton library. The Clintons are attempting to circumvent the 22d amendment to the Constitution which prohibits Bill Clinton from serving a 3d term in the White House. If Hillary wins, Bill will have a say in national policy and that is precisely what the 22d amendment was designed to preclude.

Calling All Cats & Dogs!
Warning; the Klintons may be in the market for another 1st pet!

If how well someone cares for their pets is any indication of their compassion and responsibility, the Klintons come out on the losing end.

Let’s recap:

• Zeke, a male Cocker Spaniel, ran over by a car when left unattended by then Governor Klinton.
• Buddy the 1st Dog, a Male Chocolate Labrador, also ran over by a car at the Klinton’s home after they left the Whitehouse.
• Socks the 1st Cat, a Male Black and White Feline, discarded by the Klintons (dumped on Bill Klinton's secretary Betty Currie) as they departed the White House.

Notably, being the materialistic phonies that they are, the Klintons stripped the Whitehouse down to the bare walls on their way out the door!

If I were a cat or dog, I’d be fearful of becoming the next pet-prop for the Klintons!

How about one of Al Gore's polar bears as First Pet?
Sorry, but one of our trolls had stated that dead polar bears would be floating down the Mississipi River because of AHHCCKK! GLOBAL WARMING!

Get a map! Can't be done! They swim better that the widdle baby seals they like to eat.

Is there anything Hillary won't do for the cameras?

Then, she can throw the two-timing cheater out on his rear and be done with him for good.

There are people in this world who do not find

not a bad or destructive one.

How are you in the commitment department?

You will never mobilize your base with cheap attacks on Hillary. Larry Craig destroys your base. For years Barney Frank was the whipping boy(maybe litterally) of the Base. The Base bragged that it booted perverts from the GOP.
Instead of chanting "Jerry! Jerry! Jerry" they will now chant "Larry! Larry! Larry!"
Hil-La-Ry! Hil-La-Ry! Hil-Lar-Ry!
USA! USA! USA!

A Polar bear is an excellent choice! It would be interesting to see who ended up on the menu (the slowest runner); Bubba or Hitlery?

I was thinking a pet that suited their characters; perhaps a Leech?

virduduh
you alas are no more than a cretin. Defending the two most dispictable creatures on earth as though they were actually somthing to be admired, Missus clinton is married to a serial womanizer who by his own accounts has molested dozens of women and is married to a creepy woman who enabled his behavior by attempting to destroy the women who came forward with tales of his boorish behavior. That is not a marriage by my reckoning but a parasitic relationship by two self centered idiots who thinks the world world idolizes them. Obviously you are one of the idiots that do. And for you information I for one know about committment having been married to the same woman for 39 years and have never once dishonored our marriage vows the way your hero does. I amongst others truly despise both the clintons for the two absolute low lifes they are. But then again the two of them deserve each other. They can cause each other pain. The missus clinton deserves all the humiliation bubba has dumped on her. She has been his doormat and obviously enjoys the relationship. But as for being a woman of character and strength that is another sick joke you libs tell yourselves about tyhe most self-serving witch on the planet

Viruudh, you said on another thread that
you are going to vote for Mrs. Clinton.

Pray tell, WHY? Other than the fact that she is a woman, and promises free health care (ie TAXPAYER PAID, with no choice) which appeals to you. How is she QUALIFIED to serve as POTUS?

Just WHAT has Madame Hillary ACCOMPLISHED in her most recent position as U.S. Senator, over the past 5 or 6 years now--and specifically for her constituents, New Yorkers?

All I know of that she has done is get herself elected, raised MILLIONS for her own campaigns, wrote a self-serving book or two, and SCREAMED, SCREECHED, and CACKLED!

wildwest
"the two most dispictable (if you are going to use the word at least learn how to spell it) in
the world"

After an overblown statement like that, why bother to read the rest. As I said before, you are a creep.

TriciaCT
Yes I did say that I would vote for Hillary.
And it does not have to do with the fact that
she is a woman at all.

She became my hero when she introduced the idea
of universal health care during her husband's
term. This was before the majority of the
citizenry had not yet caught on to the fact that
our system is in desparate trouble. And that was
because we were younger then and hadn't really
had to use the system that much. Now we are older and wiser.

She does not offer free health care. Unless you
make the assumption that buying insurance makes
your health care free. What you do when you buy
insurance is that you share the cost with others. When insurance becomes universal, it
should become cheaper because the cost is shared
by a larger base. Whether they will happen in
the U.S. remains to be seen. It works in other
countries. Do I need to remind you that we have
the costliest health care in the world? There is
a reason, and it is not because it is so
superior.

As for her experience and capabilities, ask
the New York constitutents. They are the ones
who voted her in and by a huge majority in the
last election.

As for other qualitifications she is the first
one to hold a congressional position I
believe since Ford. All the rest were governors
or not even that. On top of that, she is very
bright. Being very bright would disqualify a
few of our presidents in living memory.

Every campaigner has raised millions, or they
couldn't campaign, writing a book is nearly a
rite of passage to running to for president. For
one thing, it brings in bucks and it gives more
details about yourself than a campaign speech
can give. There is nothing that Hillary is doing
in her campaigning (except pulling out ahead)
that all the rest of the guys, including the one
you plan to vote for, are doing also.

viruddh
Sweetie, this article and my comments are not about ME and the "commitment department," as you elect to call it. How I feel about commitment has nothing to do with the fact that Hillary married a womanizer. He was a womanizer before he became president. He was a womanizer WHILE he was president. And let me assure you, he will be a womanizer when she dumps him, which she will.

There is much to say on behalf of a spouse that forgives another spouse's transgressions and moves on with the relationship. But it is naive to think that that is what Hillary has done. What you are seeing is pure ambition, nothing but ambition, and voracious ambition at that. She WILL dump him in the future -- plan on it.

It's a free country. I'm not going to call you names as others here have done. I don't believe in that. You say that Hillary is your hero and you are free to do that. I believe your doing that suggests that you are quite young and not very experienced.

The list of "qualifications" you offer is a flimsy one that lacks substance. The fact that you fell in love with Hillary based on her health care plans illustrates that you know very litle about insurance as a business or its insidious economic impact upon health care delivery in this country since its inception.

What Hillary is, my dear, is a person who wants to TAKE from the middle class and redistribute that revenue to other people, representing the epitome of socialism. She has said so multiple times in public, in written statements and at presentations. Apparently that's okay with you, so vote the way you want. It's not okay with me, and she will be defeated.

Oh, and by the way, when she is defeated, she will get rid of Bill.

viruddh
How does holding a congressional position make one more qualified to be president than one who was a governor?

The duties of the president more closely resemble those of a governor than those of a senator.

virrudddummy
You are obviously one of those lib dummies who accept the creature clinton and her shallow resume. Like all illogical libs yoiu onlky undedrstand punishing the succesful through increased taxes and rewarding the losers through increased benefits. As for her qualifications you has an extremely weak eresume. Her gtrand accomplishment is getting electged as a dem in a dem state. Btw she campaigned at taxpayer expense whioch again shows her distain for the tax payers as she traveled using the pathetic excuse they were trips related to her duties as first lady. But what she can't run away from are all the illegal activities of which she took an active role and that you libs continue to give her a pass. From white water, to the rose law firm files she kept hiiden, to the numerous times under questioniong when the supposed smartest woman in the world kept repeating, I don't recall, to the selling of the lincold bedroom, the fund raising scandals which are again surfacing, the pardons scanda and on and on. You probably don't want to remember that she likewise broke the law when she held secret meetings during her first health care fiasco. You might convince the other dimwits in your feminist circle and all those haters at moveon that this self centered witch is your hero but coming to a basically conserv site won't convince anyone here. But then again perhaps her ability to speak ebonics also impresses you. The books youi claim she has written were both penned by others who were merely ghost writers while she grabbed the credit for others work. Attacking my typing skills is the flimsy of attacks. You can't adequately defend you hero and that shows you really have no clue as to who you are voting for.

virridummy 2
In order to be a hero one must first do something heroic. The missus clinton has never met that criteria. But I guess another feminist ideal is being both a doormat and enabler for a serial molestor of women and then heading up the campaign to destroy the women who dared come forward with accounts of bubba's boorish behavior. Claiming the missus clinton as your hero portrays you to be extremely shallow

Viruduhhhh - healthcare:
True - Healthcare is really expensive here in the US. It's also the very best healthcare in the world, its one of the few industries we have that still brings foreign currency IN to the US.
* Our healthcare costs more than anywhere else.
* The higher prices are necessary for the doctors to buy the malpractice insurance they need to stay in business.
* The malpractice insurance is so high because trial lawyers (Hi Hillary) have fought against any hint of tort reform, giving them the right to sue anyone for anything with or without evidence.
* Trial lawyers file specious lawsuits knowing the insurance co's will settle an unjust suit rather than gamble against a larger unjust verdict.
If you really want to improve access to healthcare: allow doctors to offer, and people to buy, "limited liability care", where the prices are reduced in exchange for a voluntary liability cap. People who want the superpremium absolute guaranteed healthcare can pay the long buck or it, people who will accept a reasonale negotiated limit on liability should be able to pay an "economy grade" price.

Waste of Space & Time
Usually Amanda's Articles are very entertaining and enlightening. Hillary is being Packaged for the Dumb masses who don't know any better or don't care. A good reason to limit voting rights to those who don't have a clue. What Amanda should have written about:
Hillary & all Demonrats are America's Greatest Threat and Enemy of Today. They are the ones who pose a greater risk of losing America's Freedom. Communists once proclaimed that they could not defeat America outside, but would and could do so inside. This makes perfect Sense. Review the voting pattern of Demonrats over the last 30 plus years and then compare it to what America's Enemies would have voted if they had a vote in Congress on the same issues. If a panel of Specialist reviewed they would find a pattern that would mirror the Demonrats voting History.

Arby
There is really no need to "sweetie" me.

Perhaps Hillary will dump him some day. It is
immaterial as to how I will vote. For now they
are married, they have a kid, they are family.
I suspect your condemnation is more self-serving than anything else.

"What you are seeing is pure ambition, nothing but ambition, and voracious ambition at that."

Anyone running for president has to be ambitious. That is not a bad thing. If Ken Starr with all his ill-will backed by $70 million of taxpayers' money couldn't find anything to pin on them besides Bill's infidelity well then quite possibly there was nothing to find. At least admit to yourself
what you desparately WANT to be true.

Hillary's qualifications: if you think that she
was just a housewife or even just a lawyer before
she became senator perhaps you should do a little
more research.

I am not young and inexperienced either in the
ways of the world or the medical dynasty. I am
65, I have had for nearly 30 years a genetic-
type of diabetes and I know how very sympathetic
insurance companies are to my plight. I get
insurance through my husband who owns his own
business. When he retires it should be interesting.

We have an income that is taxed at the highest
rate. It is from the likes of us that the
government will "steal" so as to provide health
care for others. However, income redistribution
is the latest scare word for what is essentially
insurance. Some pay into insurance all their life and never get anything back except a feeling
of security. Others get back more than they
put in. That is how insurance works. The
insurance takes it cut, which is larger than
anyone else's and the world goes on.

Wildwest
Do save your time and energy writing to me. Other than your highly witty names for me, you
have nothing to say that I am interested in.

The wild west isn't my thing. I prefer civilization, even with all its faults.

amanda, i like your style. you mixed the good with the bad. great coverage.

Viruudh
Universal Health Care is not the job of Government. Our Constitution provided that Governments only responsibility was to insure the security and safety of our Country and our Citizens. Wealth redistribution is a form of Socialism and should not be entertained in the slightest. Socialism will oppress the People and eventually the People will lose all their Freedoms that our Constitution and Bill of Rights provide. This is just another means of empowering Government and restricting our rights. Next you want the Guns too. If you would rather live in a Socialistic Society then move to Europe. True American's love their Freedoms that our Fathers and Forefathers fought, bled, and died fighting against Socialist and Communist Dictators. Our Country was not made Great giving to those who refuse to help themselves, and for the unfortunate who attempt to work and provide for their families - there are Charity Groups and yes Churches who will assist. If our Politicians and Liberals like to help others, get off your rear end and go out and help instead of stealing from some to give to others in the form of Government entitlements and taxes. YES, I DID SAY TRUE AMERICANS LOVE THEIR CONSTITUTION & BILL OF RIGHTS AND HOW THIS GOVERNMENT WAS STRUCTURED BY MEN ALOT SMARTER THAN MOST OVER 200 YEARS AGO. A LIBERAL SOCIALISTIC COMMIE MASQUERADING AS A PROGRESSIVE IS NOT A TRUE AMERICAN. Sorry if the truth hurts, get over it and move on, or better yet, you need to reeducate yourself - Hillary is a Joke in any arena and is not deserving of anyone's vote PERIOD. Based upon her own Actions.

Jimmy D
You write with such passion that I would almost
think that you think I haven't heard all of this
before. I have, trust me. I'm not buying it.

And surprise, surprise, I don't care if you
think that I am not a true American.

A little bit of a by your leave here, however.
You seem to be under the mistaken impression
that all the founding fathers and writers of
the Constitution were in blissful agreement as
to how things should be done. There were, in
fact, bitter disagreements. I happen to be
in the middle of a biography on George Washington
and just read last night about how disheartened
he was with parts of the Constitution. But for
the sake of the union, he and they compromised.

What a novel idea.

nyd aka clinton catamite aka crack baby
you are walking proof of a dim knucklehead. You bring nothing original but have let all know that you are proof positive of the results of the welfare system. You live in the past and do no more than cut and paste the talking points your masters at moveon give you. Have you ever been anything but "boy" to your masters. You have proven nothing except your stupidity over all matters. Go back to your public housing and wallow in your miserable life. Or is it as simple that you are no more than a nwa no skills but a attitude to cover up your pathetic life, that is total loser

nydummy
you have never been rigfht but like all ignorant libs yoiu think showing up is enough. No have never won one argument but have attained the title of most ignorant poster. You just come daily for your daily beating. You are just too stupid to realize your total ignorance. But a life of living on welfare and now anxiously looking forward to the socialism your heroes the clinton's will try to impose will make your life perfect. Total irresponsibility and no accountability

viruudh
Thank you for the civility. You and I, apparently, are polar opposites in our political views and probably in our economic views as well. That's life.

I don't condemn Hillary for her marriage or staying with Bill. It's entirely her choice. I simply wouldn't vote for her even if there were no other choice. I remain committed to the belief that her qualifications are minimal, and you remain committed to the belief that they are sizable. Neither one of us will change our opinions.

I strongly belief in minimal government -- government that butts out of my personal life, government that doesn't try to take care of everyone and provide the nanny state that we have now. There are many others, clearly, who disagree and you are probably among them. There are many others who feel that just about everyone other than those making $15,000 a year should pay 30 or 35 or 40% of their incomes to taxes. I feel the opposite. I would be happy to see an absolute minimal and flat tax. I think legislators should be paid about $50,000 a year, max. I don't believe in welfare, I don't believe in free breakfasts and I don't believe in giveaway programs. I believe in independence, hard work and self sufficiency.

You and I will clearly never agree, but I do appreciate your civility. The vitriol that is way too present on TH irritates me. It's a wonderful thing that we both live in America and can vote the way we want and work for the candidate of our choice.

ny dummy
point proven. Another welfare baby with the I am a victim 24/7 attitude.

Clinton Being Bribed
Once again the Campaign Finance Scandals are repeating. Any of you liberals please think and tell me WHAT DO THE CHINESE THINK THEY CAN GET FOR THEIR BRIBES FROM HILLARY AND THE LIBERALS THAT REPUBLICANS WILL NOT GIVE THEM?

MLD & viruudh--Hillary FLUNKED the DC.
Bar Exam, which is probably the only real reason she went to Arkansas! If she is so "bright" and "accomplished," why did she flunk the D.C. bar exam?

Getting elected in New York as a Senator DOES NOT QUALIFY anyone to be POTUS! For one thing, there are MILLIONS of uneducated, dependent (upon government handouts) voters there who will vote for anyone who promises to provide more and more government handouts.

And Hillary has NO EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE!! That's ZIP, NADA, NIL! There is a logical reason that no Senator since JFK has been elected POTUS. The job REQUIRES executive skills, and Hillary has none except performing hatchet jobs on people she does not like, or who will not kowtow to her--which is not the kind of executive skill Americans need from a President.

If you listen to people who have worked with her in the White House and elsewhere, such as George Stephanopolis and Dick Morris and myriad others--Hillary leaves mostly fear and dislike (if not hatred) among people who worked for her in the White House or campaigns.

Let me spell it out for you as I believe Mitt Romney did recently:

"Hillary Clinton has not run a corner store, or a state, or a city" or ANYTHING other than her own office (I added that last part).

viruddh
Your comments are well constructed and it is apparent that you actually do have a Brain. I wonder who made any reference that Compromise was never an issue regarding our Brothers who outlined and founded our Constitution and Bill of Rights. Since you read, look up the numerous articles and information and statements made by those who were fortunate enough to escape Socialism and Communism. If I was reading one of your earlier comments right, you were worried about your health insurance issues when your Husband quits working. This isn't the reason to violate all of OUR Freedoms and Liberties for a Socialistic Agenda. Socialism and Communism makes all the promises, but fails to be able to live up to them, unless you happen to be in the in crowd. IT FAILS TO LIVE UP TO THE PROMISES!!!!. Ask those who know, visit with some Citizens who came out of East Germany and Russia. Review the issues in Eurrope today. Talk with these people who have lived in a Socialistic Society first hand and stop listening to the MSM and the Liberal Lies. This Socialism has been forced down our Throats by the Media and our Politicians and the Demonrats are the more GUILTY. GET THE POINT! GROWUP, It is Time you Did, and stop being selfish; I bet your Father and Grandfather fought in the GREAT WARS. Who were they fighting? Socialist, Nazis, and Communists, who have the same PLAY BOOK your precious Demonrats are using today. They will Lie, cheat, steal, and kill if it serves their position and goals. What did the Democratic House do to steal a vote on the floor. Have you read the blatant lies, that our Demonrats are professing in Congress. I am not saying the GOP is free from evil, but that the DEMONRATS in Power are EVIL - based upon ACTIONS.

viruudh, "people who live in glass--

I'm referring to your criticism of somone else' typos/misspellings--

In your 7:54 a.m. post today you misspelled "desperate." Other misspellings/typos of yours include: "constitutents" (extra "t") & "quali[ti]fications."

You also wrote "This was before the majority of the
citizenry had ****not yet***** caught on to the fact" when I think you meant "before.... had caught on to..."

Also: "Whether ***they*** will happen in the U.S. remains to be seen.
(I think you meant to type the word "that.")

If you are going to critique others' spelling and typing skills, perhaps you should proofread your own 'work' before hitting the "send" button.

MLD--NO I'm not an attorney, but since
you won't, or CAN'T answer (because there IS NO GOOD ANSWER) the simple question:

"Just WHAT has Madame Hillary ACCOMPLISHED in her most recent position as U.S. Senator?"

I will refrain from answering the EVASIVE questions you pose--trying to change the subject from Hillary and her obvious LACK OF QUALIFICATIONS for the position of POTUS until you first answer the simple question:

What has Hillary Clinton ever DONE, in an EXECUTIVE position, that has given her any of the skills and experience that are required to fulfill the responsibilities of POTUS?

according to the fox web site there is a new clinton scandal brewing. Alledgedly there is a tape the clintons on tape soliciting funds from another criminal looking for favored treatment. The size of the requested bribe is in the range of 17 million

MLD & viruudh--getting ELECTED does not
QUALIFY one to be President.

Exhibit # one of that fact would be Jimmy Carter. He is one of the WORST Presidents this nation has ever suffered under.

(He is also appallingly ill-suited to be a FORMER President, as he continues to try to insert himself in current international affairs with his inappropriate, unprofessional, and bald facedly WRONG statements about the current administration.)

viruudh, "glass houses" Part II
A last grammatical/typo error I noticed in your 7:54 a.m. post:

"There is ***nothing that Hillary is doing**** in her campaigning ... that all the rest of the guys... ***are doing**** also. It looks like the "not" you erroneously inserted in your first mistake BELONGED in the last example cited, in order for your sentence to say what you intended.

Otherwise, I almost agree with your statement that "There is ***nothing that Hillary is doing**** in her campaigning that... the one
[I] plan to vote for, [is] doing also.

She SCREECHES & CACKLES; Mitt Romney does not.

She promises and encourages more dependence on GOVERNMENT HANDOUTS. Mitt Romney encourages LESS GOVERNMENT and more INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY.

Governor Romney lowered taxes and reduced the deficit in Massachusetts. Hillary promises HIGHER TAXES and more deficit spending.

Governor Romney promises enforcing the law and protecting Americans and our nation's borders. Hillary instead kisses up to the illegal aliens.

it appears that the missus clinton has launched her daily promise to another special interest group in order to buy her election. Unfortunately for us she has spent by several times all the extra money coming to wash when she eliminates all the tax programs passed dsuring the bush admin. Now the moron rangel, another pork barrel thief from harlem is proposing 3.5 trillion in new taxes, stolen from the tax payers but levied to fund more govt. Our only salvation from this coming crisis is to work to replace the pork barrel high tax dims and see that the socialist clinton doesn't embark on her quest for her socialist nirvana imposed on america

It's the thought that counts
If giving gifts will score political points, how come the Clintons never mention the gift of a lamp that Hillary air-mailed to Bill’s head?

Sic'um Wildwest
I got your back.

Qualifications
What qualifies anyone to be president is age and country of birth. See the constitution. What makes one president is a majority of electoral college votes. Again, see the constitution. What removes one from the presidency is impeachment and conviction. Yet again, see the constitution. What makes one worthy of the presidency is a matter of individual opinion, and is not addressed in the constitution. None of the current front runners are worthy of the presidency, in my opinion, but they all qualify for it, one will win it, and I will probably complain about it.

So it goes.

wildwest--I like reading your perceptive
& succinct posts.

My husband and I are transplanted (I used to say temporarily, but it has been 11 years now) Westerners.

We moved to CT from Olympia, WA--my husband having been raised in Utah and the "real" Washington and myself in Oregon. (I also lived in Utah for about 20 years of my life.)

I just wish more people would INFORM themselves about the candidates and issues--let alone the long-term repercussions of candidates' promises. Instead--entirely too many voters seem to attach their loyalties to a candidate based on some kind of shallow (if not ignorant) emotional impression. Then they deny that and insist that those who disagree are the stupid ones.

Hopefully at least a little of what the liberals are reading here will start to seep into their conscious, and some will start paying attention to what scams the Clintons have been pulling in their Power Pact, as I call it.

OK homosexuality is an option
personnally I will go with the jumper cables and a trolling motor battery.

If you or anyone else is still reading and
writing under this column, you are absolutely
right. I needed to get to the airport to pick
up a friend and I did not check my work.

Sorry. Mea Culpa
