With unemployment at 10.2%, what will happen by the end of Obama's first term?

Sen. Hillary Clinton (D.-N.Y.) lost a $1 million earmark to fund a Woodstock museum in Liberty, New York yesterday, but was successful in securing $350,000 tax dollars to fund the Gay Men’s Health Crisis, Inc.

According to a press release from her Senate office, the money will go towards decreasing the use of crystal methamphetamine-- which contributes HIV transmission-- in the gay community.

An October 17th statement attributed to Clinton said: “The Gay Men’s Health Clinic is providing a critical service in working to halt the devastation that methamphetamine brings to our community. With HIV/AIDS rates among meth users more than twice as high as the general public, these funds are essential in helping the Gay Men’s Health Clinic continue the fight against HIV/AIDS through treatment and prevention.”

Clinton also took credit for nabbing $200,000 in federal dollars for the American Ballet Theatre. These earmarks were tucked into the fiscal year 2008 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies spending bill.

On Thursday, Sen. Tom Coburn (R.-Okla.) held a stand-off on the Senate floor against Clinton and her fellow New York Sen. Charles Schumer (D.) over $1 million they obtained in the fiscal year 2008 Labor, Health, and Human Services spending bill for a museum dedicated largely to the 1969 Woodstock music festival.

Clinton and Schumer lost.

Coburn issued a measure to reallocate the money to fund healthcare for pregnant women and children instead. It passed 52-42.

Your 12:48 am post was dead on! I agree wholeheartedly with your reasoning. Finally, a breath of common sense in here.

Now for this little quote:

"Why are people up in arms over 350,000 for a clinic that helps American citizens conquer drug addition and better their lives? ONLY because "gay men" is in the title. They are not considered worthy of any help...EVER."

*** After all the times I have been pounded with statements by the left that "gays are 'superior beings' and more intelligent and earn far more than heterosexuals..." ad nauseum. Then, 'splain that comment you made above about "helping" citizens conquer drug addiction ... ". "Gays" can bloody well pay for their own health care ... just like I have to!

Mellor, we can legislate based on...

So much confusion V
"Excuse me? The book of Exodus alone predates Confucius and Buddha by over 1000 years."

True. But the NT doesn't. And anyway the point is that such concepts can be developed with an imaginary sky friend...

"The Bible doesn't call homosexuality "illegal," but immoral."

True. The issue, of course, is that your fellow travelers want to base law on their bizarre ideas of morality.

...common sense.

Morality is one thing on which to base law, and we do it, but also legislate based on common sense? which is.

We certainly ought to be able legislate about homosexuality, which includes habits that are perversions of what the human genitals were designed for by God (just kidding), or evolution if you prefer and I'm sure you do. The disease spreading, the public perversions, the proselytizing and indoctrination of children, the whining for 'marriage' can and should be legislated on based on common sense, which is.
