Obama Awards Himself A B Plus
Posted by: Jillian Bandes at 9:36 AM
Per his conversation with Oprah, when asked a question about what grade he would give himself at this point in his Presidency:
I would give myself a good solid B plus. We have inherited the biggest set of challentges since FDR. We have stabilized the economy, prevented possibilities of a great depression or significant financial meltdown, the economy is growing again, we're on our way out of Iraq, I think we've got the best possible plan for Afghanistan, we have reset our image around the world, we have achieved an international consensus around the need for Iran and North Korea to disable their nuclear weapons, and I think we're going to pass the most significant piece of social legislation since social security, and that's health insurance for every American.
If he passes health care, Obama said he would award himself an A-.

Quick hits in review... translated, Why Obama is the biggest cry baby ever...?
Posted by: Kevin McCullough at 8:13 AM
http://savagepolitics.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/crying-baby.jpg

Why I might be willing to give up on the "rule of law" so that the Rule of Law can be re-established...

Speaking of something that law school profs won't like... call the "wham"-bulance. Are you kidding me, this man wouldn't know what fair coverage of his affairs looked like and if he thinks it's tough now, I just can't wait until he's actually in office. That deer-in-headlights look we get once a week presently might just become a regular tourist attraction in DC.

This is a completely fair thing to do, because THEY attacked first, AND they have these peeps propping them up... I say let's really take the cuffs off and let them solve the Iranian question for us all...

Ooops she (Oprah) did it again... she really should vet these things better.

You know... that JFK's daughter... you know... she makes... you know... the Governor of Alaska... you know... look like a freaking Nobel recipient for literature... you know...

And as it turns out, when it comes to science, Barack Obama is pretty much dumber than a doorknob... Ha! Who would've known...

Oh wait... this did turn out to be the year when the "scientists, intellectuals," and such did get embarrassed by finally doing this...

But they didn't buy all of our Christmas and Holiday crap... "please sir, may we have some...?"

One trend I really don't see as a bad thing...

What separates Charlie Gibson from Oprah Winfrey?

LOL!

Who woulda thunk that one of those evil white males that are the downfall of all that is wrong in society would beat Oprah to the punch for celebrating perhaps the most historic moment for a woman to come along since... ever!

Oprah's "bah humbug" about not putting candidates on - has been seen for what it is to every woman I've conversed with on the issue. Ready for this, here's what WOMEN are saying about Oprah's laughable mealy-mouth excuse making.

"She knows inherently that Sarah Palin is the real deal, that when they get into the discussion of the substance that even SHE will end up liking her, and she'll cause her boy to lose."

In a nut-shell THAT's what the women of America are saying. And if you don't believe it to be true, tune in Hugh Hewitt from now until election day. (1.800.520.1234) All he's taking is female callers, and all he's doing is letting them give their feelings on Sarah.

I was in the car driving from New York to DC tonight - and for three hours woman, after woman said the same thing, "This is the most excited I've been about an election in my lifetime."

So now Charlie Gibson will spend two whole days with Palin. She has told him now subject is off limits, and Charlie will go where Oprah - should have, but was too darn chicken to do so.

Nice example O!

Your chance at history is sinking faster than your candidate can say "above my pay grade..."

Oprah LIES, ratings DIE
Posted by: Kevin McCullough at 3:34 PM

Forked Tongue?

Since I may be the only Townhall pundit to have appeared on the Oprah show I may have a little bit of a unique perspective on all of this... but I doubt it.

Drudge has released Oprah's response to his scoop that her staff is divided:
At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over."
Hey um... Oprah... you might wanna um check the picture above. Because in truth you HAVE used your platform for one very specific candidate, and the truth is - you're so scared to death that Palin just might be such a nice, pleasant, and wonderful HIT on your show - that your boy just might not look so good afterwards.

The producers who told you to have Sarah Palin on - are the only ones on your staff you can truly trust. Because as you seek to target the 38 year old female you attempt to reach every day - there is not ONE PERSON more popular with said group than Sarah Palin... Your producers know this, its what you pay them for, and it would be an ratings BOOM for that day's show.

You also know this, but you're too proud to admit. It's a nose/face thing...

Oprah's TRUE love - dead!
Posted by: Kevin McCullough at 1:27 PM
http://janetcharltonshollywood.com/upload/2006/12/OPRAH_SOLOMcu2_JANUA%232D0A1C.jpg
"rrrruff in peace!"

The big O is dedicating an entire upcoming show to her now month long deceased cocker spaniel, Sophie. (Reports are Gayle is purple with envy....)

Actually the episode is intended to highlight the horrific stories of those haunting places known as "puppy mills."

The justification for such excess is because "Sophie gave me 13 years of unconditional love. (That's like four times as much as Stedman. And...) She was a true love in my life."

Now before all you whacky dog lovers go hatin' on me understand this. I've had multiple dogs over my life and seeing them die was terrible each time.

But can we please begin to see dogs for what they are. Stupid Creatures... Soulless creatures... Creatures that were designed for our companionship and enjoyment - BUT NOT fulfillment!

That's why God gave us CHILDREN.

Even the NatGeo Channel's Dog Whisperer confirms that the biggest problems dogs have in living with their masters - is that people treat them like human babies - not as DOGS.

It HAS to be a sign of a morally confused nation when we love our pets MORE than we love our children!

So I'm still waiting for Oprah to do a show-long story dedicated to the horrific and haunting "baby-mills" of this land...

'Omentum' or Nomentum?
Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 10:37 AM

70,000 in two appearances this weekend?

The AP reports 29,000 in the USC football stadium Sunday. It should be noted that that's still about 20,000 fewer than the Gamecocks pulled even during their 21-game losing streak in the late 90s, but it's huge for a political event.

Tammy Bruce and Bob Beckel were just on Fox discussing whether this will make any difference. Tammy says 'no' because Oprah only speaks the people casually, and part of her charm is that she's not politicized. Bob says 'maybe' because the sheer size of the events is stunning and it will likely translate into at least some votes.

I'm not sure I'm with Tammy on this one. I don't know if Oprah can put Obama over Hillary, but she has sway with black Americans and women, and she gives those voting segments the warm fuzzies. Combine that with a candidate who's entire campaign is based on "hope" and "change" and warm fuzzies in lieu of much of a career, and Oprah's a dang near perfect spokeswoman.

Yes, the crowds come to see Oprah, but if they leave having transfered their warm fuzzies for Oprah to Obama, it doesn't seem all that unlikely to me that a woman who can revolutionize the publishing industry with the mere power of her recommendation of a book would be able to move some votes. Questions is, how many of those Oprah fans are registered and will actually vote? It remains to be seen, but the big, warm, fuzzy rallies can't hurt him one bit, especially since Hillary's star surrogate has proved so gaffe-prone.

Update: Ugh. This deserves a top headline at Drudge more than Huck's religio-speak:
"We need a leader who's going to touch our souls. Who's going to make us feel differently about one another. Who's going to remind us that we are one another’s keepers. That we are only as strong as the weakest among us," she said, echoing biblical passages.

Winfrey also touched on Christian themes that had not been highlighted in Iowa.

"It's amazing grace that brought me here," she began, adding that she was "stepping out of my pew" - television – to engage in politics.

It isn't enough to tell the truth, Winfrey said. "We need politicians who know how to be the truth."
A politician who knows how to be the truth? What's that Scripture about worshiping false idols? Psst, Oprah: Just because it doesn't specifically forbid worship of the junior senator from Illinois doesn't mean he's not on the list of things you shouldn't put before God.

Update:
Behold, the pathetic star power of the Edwards campaign.

Another Hillary worker: "Obama a Muslim"
Posted by: Kevin McCullough at 9:36 AM

Muslim bent on taking over the world...

I bet Hillary's getting pretty steamed... uh - oh - not on the idea that people are spreading the "Obama is a Muslim" e-mails, but that they keep getting caught, and then she is "forced" to cluck in disgust and call for their resignation... I mean - HOW is she going to be able to get that rumor out if she keeps having to let people go?

WINK, WINK!

2pm:
Christian, Father, Evangelist, Actor, and Activist, and soon to be weekly star of the small screen - Stephen Baldwin stops by. Are 20 million Americans ready for the Hardcore Faith? Is NBC? Is Trump? In-Studio LIVE - Stephen Baldwin with us...800.345.WMCA.

2:20pm:
Oprah has waved her magic wand and Mitch Albom's newest tear-jerker is set for Sunday Night on ABC. He steps in to give us a preview, but asks the important question. What would you do? How would you live? If you had only one more day to give to that one person you wanted to, but never did... you would do things differently! 800.345.WMCA.

3pm:
Society is pushing parents to be ignorant to the behavioral programming of their own children, and we MUST NOT allow that to happen. The world is happy for you to be too busy to know what your child is seeing, doing, learning, feeling, and morphing into. 4 out of 5 Moms on 'The View' are happy about this. The only mother on the show to lay down clarity for her son is ganged up on in response. Yet empowering our children to know who they are and who they are supposed to be, and to become - is paramount to their development. Society wants ignorant parents. Society, Schools, Pop Culture, even legislators want you to be lulled to sleep. Feed your children but do not train them.  800.345.WMCA.

I don't seem to remember Hillary having THIS problem...
Posted by: Kevin McCullough at 12:05 AM

"Due to overwhelming demand, we are moving to a larger venue so everyone who wants to join us can attend."

When did Hillary EVER have to move an event because there weren't enough seats? It is OBVIOUS that Obama scoring Oprah DEFINITIVELY outbags Hillary's use of former President who would be her future first lady...

What a different universe the Democrat primary is!

Stacked Debate, Useless Celeb Endorsements, Fatal Ignorance
Posted by: Kevin McCullough at 2:45 PM

Listen "LIVE" - 2-4p EST
Listen ON DEMAND anytime!

2pm:
The McCullough Scorecard on the CNN YouTube debate. The shining moments, the winners and losers, the highlights, and the embarrassment for CNN.

2:20pm:
It will make me sound narrow-minded and rather sexist, but I believe the use of celebrity endorsements are really only done for the benefit of the female vote. Oprah for Obama, Babs for Hillary, Chuck Norris for the Huck-wagon. Says Celebrity PAT SAJAK, "Does anyone decide which candidate to choose based on the recommendation of a TV talk show host or a singer/actress? If any group of citizens is uniquely unqualified to tell someone else how to vote, it’s those of us who live in the sheltered, privileged arena of celebrityhood. It’s one thing to buy an ab machine because Chuck Norris recommends it (he’s in good shape, isn’t he?) or a grill because George Foreman’s name is on it (he’s a great guy, so it must be a great grill!), but the idea of choosing the Leader of the Free World based on the advice of someone who lives in the cloistered world of stardom seems a bit loony to me." I totally agree with him, and could not care less who endorses who. It make me a bit of a sexist to think that there are women in the world who would vote for Obama, just because Oprah fawns for him... but... I... do... think... there... is... some... truth... to... it... 800.345.WMCA.

3pm:
People want so badly for the world to be different or for their kids to like them or wish so hard that reality wasn't... that we ignore red flags. The family of Megan Meier, the 13-year-old girl who took her own life after being bullied on MySpace, is demanding justice and jail time for the adult involved in the bullying. Josh said he didn't have a phone and so Megan couldn't talk to him. But the two continued their communication online, despite some red flags Tina Meier said she saw. You know that you've done the same thing though, so have I. We see something that should be a red flag, but we talk ourselves into a distorted state of reality. The question becomes why? Here you have a daughter lost forever because parents did not recognize the boy had internet access "but no phone." 800.345.WMCA.

Oprah Hits the Trail
Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 8:49 AM
She's stumping for Barack in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina:

The popular talk show host and media mogul plans to visit Iowa on Saturday, Dec. 8, with stops in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids. The following day, she'll travel to Columbia, S.C. Later that day, Obama's campaign said, she'll travel to Manchester, N.H.

This isn't the first time Oprah has lent her star power to the Illinois senator.

In September, she rolled out the red carpet for Obama at a gala fundraiser in California that brought in about $3 million for his campaign.

So, that wraps up the vapid daytime TV-watcher vote for Obama, but it remains to be seen how many of them will actually leave the couch to cast a vote. But seriously, I'm interested to see how this plays.

Oprah holds a good amount of sway with the black community and with women, and Obama has counted on tapping into new voters in those communities to win. But I wonder if they'll be about as reliable voters as young people always are in the general election. Which is to say, not at all.

Oprah ready to counter balance Hillary - ON THE TRAIL - for Obama in IOWA!
Posted by: Kevin McCullough at 7:43 AM

Step OFF girlfriend...Obama's my man!

In the Democratic primary there is NO QUESTION who has the biggest endorsement reaching the biggest numbers of likely female Democrat voters every single day...

Now one big "O" is joining the one running for President, and she's doing it in the ever increasingly important battleground of Iowa. Oprah... on the road for Obama.

And Hillary's answer?  (cricket chirps)

Dirty Laundry: Straight Talk from the Cos
Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 10:30 AM

Bill talks to Oprah about his controversial 2004 speech to the NAACP on the Brown v. Board of Education anniversary.

"Somehow, these people that cared about the laundry only cared about the laundry. They didn't care about the children!...I thought they were crazy. I said, 'these people have lost their minds.'"
