Media LIES: "Was there a March in DC this weekend?"
Posted by: Kevin McCullough at 9:49 AM

A few dozen...

It seems that there is a bit of real "controversy" from the political left over just how many people DID in fact show up, parade down Pennsylvania avenue, and spill out onto the national mall and the side streets (pictured above) for the 9.12 project/March On Washington.

And for the record, the picture above was shot by a friend who works for a Washington based group CWA, who was able to get on top of the local building and capture this shot as the day wore on. The view you are looking at is a SIDE STREET, it is not the main view coming down the National Mall.

THIS IS:
http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs231.snc1/7822_132278676589_121190016589_2345673_7426951_n.jpg

That pic was taken by our very own Faith Ammen, on the steps of the Capitol building looking back down the mall towards the reflecting pool/Washington monument. This was the view we had when speaking from the podium.

What is not pictured here, no accounted for in the top picture above, are the tens of thousands more that are under or behind the tree lines that run the length of the mall.

One little liar at MSNBC by the name of David Schuster said that all these people equaled no more than 50,000 people at most. (Doing the math, that is like GIANT stadium here in New York--the old one not the new one, at only 2/3's capacity. Yet Giant stadium wouldn't even be able to contain even a third of the people in the top pic above.)

But that doesn't account for even half the people that were on that street alone, because Michelle Malkin captured this screen grab from the "Livestream" stream of the goings on:

http://michellemalkin.cachefly.net/michellemalkin.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/live912.jpg

Also, feel free to take a look at this helpful guide produced by USAToday in conjunction with the occasion of the Obama inauguration. From the looks of it, 1.2 million gets you to the Washington monument (not passed it). We had callers calling the show Saturday night explaining that they had only been able to "hear" our speeches, not see them, as they were on the other side of the Washington monument on the mall.

Scientists had the number at 2 million.

Parks and Rec had the number at 1.5 million.

Metro Police said 1.2.

The Daily Mail says 1 million.

ABC news now claims they never said the number that was originally attributed to them, so fine I will take ABC news' word for it. BUT now ABC is stating 70,000?

You look at the pics, then the guide... then you tell me who you think is closer.

Oh No... Don't tell me that Michelle Obama shook her head from side to side...

Bicker no more...

My hunch going into tonight's useless and probably backfiring speech by the President was that people would not watch. My guess is that when the overnight ratings are released this will be one of the lowest rated speeches of the President's all-too-often-seen experiences on television.

Will have to wait until tomorrow to know for sure.

Presidents don't use the "address both houses of Congress" tool very often. In fact the last time it was done that was not a "State of the Union" was on 9.12.2001.  Given that the accusations that Obama was, has been, refuses to stop, overplaying his hand to me seems completely founded.

Nothing new was offered.

He did plead with everyone to stop the bickering, he did tell lies, and was called on the carpet for it. (Because the current versions of the bills in Congress will likely include coverage for anyone--including illegal aliens... even if it is through hidden loopholes.)

Long story short, a boring, nothing speech. Uninspiring, nothing new, and nothing to move his negatives on the issue which hit 52% today.

And you don't even wanna talk about the passion index...

Hopefully lesson learned and Mr. President and First Lady-Shake-her-head will proceed with more respect for the average American citizen, who has spoken loudly over the last thirty days and are now ready to hold these public servants accountable for the decisions they make.

Word...

HULU - taking YouTube's marketshare away...
Posted by: Kevin McCullough at 10:37 PM

Better quality... no price!

Did you hear about/see this today? HULU is going directly after part of YouTube's marketshare on television and movies - FOR FREE.

They have monetized the product by putting ads in the context of the movies, BUT the movies ARE the unedited versions. PARENTAL WARNING: If your kids watch an "R" rated movie in this system they WILL BE exposed to the "R" rated material.

From what I understand from news reports there are also multiple commercial viewing options - all at once BEFORE the movie starts, or throughout the content every ten, fifteen, or twenty minutes or so.

There is also one more draw for HULU. The quality is said to be MILES ahead of the YouTube pixelated universe.

Hugh and KMC ACTUALLY agree?
Posted by: Kevin McCullough at 12:28 PM

"Man of the Year!"

Hugh scribes this morning:

"Man of the Year" is right around the corner, and it is so obvious that General David Petraeus and the men and women of the American military are right choice that not even Time will screw this one up.

Victory is a wonderful thing, and they have brought Iraq and its allies victory.

Anyone one who disagrees, objectively speaking is an analyst not to be trusted. (Or a Ron Paulpot/Covert MoveOn'er - take your pic.)

Video: Bush vs. Silky
Posted by: Kevin McCullough at 10:47 AM

Can someone, anyone, Bueller, Bueller... please tell me why the Democrats last night sounded as though they hadn't heard a word of the President's ACTUAL speech?

I mean its one thing for you to get up and disagree with what WAS said, but for the life of me The Lovely Bride and I sat there wondering last night - what the heck Jack Reed was talking about. He claimed that the President gave no specifics in the plan moving forward, he chimed that there was no plan to bring troops home, and he assumed that the American people believed exactly as he did. Maybe the Senator Savante from Rhode Island didn't see the polling Rasmussen did on what the American PEOPLE actually believe about the Petraeus plan.

Ditto all of the above for Silky Pony John Edwards...

So here's what I would ask you to do, please review the two clips President Bush and the clip from John Edwards and I dare you to explain to me how what John Edwards is saying has any specific relation to the actual plan forward put forth by General Petraeus and endorsed by the President last night. I dare you:

Naked Truthers Betray Us Banning Birthdays
Posted by: Kevin McCullough at 1:35 PM

Listen "LIVE" - 2-4p EST
Listen ON DEMAND anytime!

2pm:
My take on the very latest...
- Truther Conquests on 9/11. How The REAL Truth of 9/11 killed 'em!
- Illegal Immigration no "crime" says Rudy. And the ship began to sink.
- Why are more leaving, rather than coming to NYC?

2:20pm:
Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama dressed down General Petraeus. They question his integrity, and in these soundbytes they call him a liar. Neither chose to renounce the MoveOn.org ad that called the General who had been uanonimously confirmed by Democrats and Republicans General "Betray Us." NOW it turns out the New York Times helped subsidize the ad to begin with. Should this hurt the two Senators running for President? Should the New York Times ever again be considered an American newspaper? And will any of this impact your own view of the upcoming candidates for President? 800.345.WMCA.

P.S. Fortunately we have Jim DeMint on our side!

3pm:
My take on the latest...
- USA Today poll finds 55% of Americans believe USA Constitution establishes a Christian nation. 58% say teachers should be allowed to lead prayers in classrooms.
- Illegals going, "IN YOUR FACE" with activism. Smart move?.
- NJ School BANNING B-days...No cupcakes for YOU!

3:20pm
Naked in America... it ain't what it used to be. Or is it? ABC News is reporting that Americans are adopting a ho-hum attitude toward celebrities that bare it all. Covers of fashion, entertainment, society, and music magazines now seem to rush to have "celebrity 'x' or 'y'" showing it off. Is the assumption true? Does America not care any more? Do you? When you're at the check-out line in the grocery store do you shield your kids eyes, or is it "they're gonna see it anyway" time? Is there such a thing as decency anymore? 800.345.WMCA.

Germans Thwart 'Imminent,' 'Massive' Terror Threat to U.S. Air Base, Int'l Airport
Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 7:38 AM
Nice job, Germany:

Three men were arrested on suspicion of planning attacks on the U.S. military base in Ramstein and Frankfurt's international airport, the German defense minister said Wednesday.

"There was an imminent threat," Franz Josef Jung told Germany's ARD broadcaster.

He declined to elaborate, but the Sudwestrundfunk public broadcaster said two of the suspects had German citizenship while the third was Pakistani. It also said the men were arrested Tuesday evening and were close to carrying out the attacks.

Reuters names the enemy:

Germany has arrested three men it suspects of belonging to an Islamist terrorist group and planning attacks on Frankfurt international airport and a major U.S. military base, German officials said on Wednesday.

Defence Minister Franz Josef Jung told German television that the three had planned to launch attacks soon and described the plot as "very concrete".

Sources say it was a large-scale attack planned:
A German security source told Reuters that the plotters had obtained chemicals and detonators that could have led to an attack on the scale of those in Madrid and London in past years, which killed 191 and 52 people respectively.

Ties to al Qaeda:

The suspects, two Germans aged 22 and 29 and a 29-year-old Turk, received terrorist training in Pakistan and had close ties to al Qaeda, according to Jorg Ziercke, president of Germany's Federal Criminal Investigation Office.
Uniters, not dividers:
Ziercke said the group was united by a "hatred against American citizens"
Ramstein is a favorite place of the Ham family, as it's the reason myself and my brothers are here today. My parents met there in the late 60s while my dad was serving at Ramstein and my mom was living there with her family (her dad served there, too). Glad to hear it's safe.

CNN reports that an attack would have happened "in a few days," perhaps to coincide with 9/11.

Update: Part of Islamic Jihad Union, according to ABC:

The three suspects two Germans, aged 22 and 28, and a 29-year-old Turk first came to the attention of authorities because they had been observing a U.S. military facility at the end of 2006, officials said. All three had undergone training at camps in Pakistan run by the Islamic Jihad Union, and had formed a German cell of the group.
Here are some of the Union's exploits:

On July 30, 2004, IJG carried out simultaneous bombing attacks on the US Embassy, the Israeli Embassy, and the Uzbek Prosecutor General, killing at least two people and wounding several. The attacks were highly sophisticated, and they cemented IJG’s status as a real terrorist threat in Central Asia. In their claim of responsibility, the IJG wrote:

“A group of young Muslims executed martyrdom operations that put fear in the apostate government and its infidel allies, the Americans and Jews. The mujahidin belonging to Islamic Jihad Group attacked both the American and Israeli embassies as well as the court building where the trials of a large number of the brothers from the Group had begun. These martyrdom operations that the group is executing will not stop, God willing. It is for the purpose of repelling the injustice of the apostate government and supporting the jihad of our Muslim brothers in Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan, the Hijaz, and in other Muslim countries ruled by infidels and apostates.”

Fox is reporting there were messages on jihadi web sites promising a "special gift" on 9/11.

Update: Allah connects the dots:
The arrests came not today but yesterday, the same day as the Copenhagen arrests, which is another reason to think they’re connected. The cops in both countries probably coordinated the timing to minimize the risk that one group would get spooked and run.

New Jersey's Biggest Woman Gets Patriotic Makeover for War on Terror
Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 11:08 AM
South Jersey:

After 42 years, Miss Uniroyal is getting a makeover.

The 18-foot-tall South Jersey landmark at 1337 Black Horse Pike in the township's Hilltop section is being remodeled to look like a cross between Supergirl and Wonder Woman.

She also will get a new name -- Nitro Girl.

Instead of her trademark green miniskirt and teal top, the Werbany Motors attraction will be decked out in flashy patriotic gear: A star-covered blue skirt, a white blouse with red sleeves, and even more stars in her hair, which will remain black.

Owner Ed Werbany Jr., whose father bought Miss Uniroyal for $300 in 1965, says that the change is just a sign of the times.

"The kids were complaining that her clothes looked so blase, so we decided to change it up," he said.

The idea to remake the image into a patriotic superhero had a straightforward reasoning behind it.

"Because of the war effort, to support the war, we (decided to) fly our American flag," Werbany said.
