Oh MY... didn't realize it was THIS bad!

How LOW will he go?

Man this is not good...

I guess bowing to other world leaders has its price huh? Or maybe just having really stinky policies that no one likes and even fewer want...

Rasmussen is by far the most reliable polling mechanism out there. He's gotten the closest to the actual election results of all pollsters since 2000.

But even polls that should be sympathetic to Obama have him LOSING 51%-35% on Obamacare legislation passed in the House of Representatives. And LOSING 53%-41% on his handling on health care period.

And that's the GOOD NEWS...

His STRONGLY approve number is now 27%, STRONGLY DISAPPROVE is 41%. Meaning those who really like him are now outnumbered by those who don't by 14%. (Ties a record.)

His overall approval numbers in Quinnipiac - 41%-53%. In Rasmussen - 46%-53%.

Independents - 35%-59%. Women 44%-49%.

The people may like him as a person, but we seem to want NOTHING that he has to offer by way of policy.

And if he keeps referring to our troops as "great photo ops" I suspect those personal numbers will begin to erode as well.

So what does it mean if pollsters on opposite ends of the spectrum agree?
Posted by: Kevin McCullough at 6:47 PM

HUCKABEE

Please show me how Public Policy Polling and Rasmussen can both come to the same conclusion unless there is a legit validity to what they are asking about.

I've long lauded the Rasmussen polls as the most accurate. They have more sophistication, better methods, and deeper/more well balanced penetration into the masses.

Last week they had Huck up 29% to Romney at 24% and Palin at 18%.

Tonight PPP puts Huck within the margin of error against OBAMA.

This is the seventh time PPP has taken this poll. It is the seventh straight time Huckabee has polled closest to Obama.

In a brief stop-over into the Ed Morrissey chat room at HotAir today, Duane Patterson and other chatters denounced Huck as irrelevant.

I was the first person to tell you that Huckabee will be the nominee for the GOP and I told it to you months ago. I might add that I was the first person to tell you Obama would be President, predicting that would happen in December of 2006.

Huckabee has done several things right since 2008, and made very few mistakes. His commentary on Fox is the textbook definition of "statesman." His ratings hit on Fox News Channel has made him the most watched cable news show every weekend.

His willingness to bring liberals on his show and debate them sometimes two to four liberals against himself shows tremendous stamina and strength. His sense of humor and his ability to finally brand his positions for himself, (and not through the lens of slime in Camp Romney that distorted his positions, fed them to NRO--who then repeated them without question,) are all playing to his strength. He also didn't implement a mandatory Health Care System in his state that allows for $50 abortions.

I know Hugh Hewitt opposes the Fair Tax message, but it is a less discriminatory tax than the present system. And in opposition to Obama arrogance, Huck's greatest strength--humility will be a winsome combination.

Duane and others all laughed at me when I told them Barack Obama would be President. They are laughing at me again now.

But maybe I know "we the people" a little bit better than they do. And all the signals I see developing point to an anti-tax candidate doing best. Huck is that candidate at present, and he's even better on other dozens of positions he's staked out on his television show.

Keep underestimating him people. Keep believing all the "smart people."

I put my faith in the ability of the American people...

POLLS: Majority oppose Obamacare, Majority oppose Obama
Posted by: Kevin McCullough at 8:37 PM
http://www.youcanquotethis.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/barack-obama-surprised.jpg
...say what?

Did not your humble correspondent first tell you, in the now the all time most read piece in the history of FoxNews, that Obama's would begin to implode this fall?

In my assessment was the reality that the American people do not want the health care reforms being put forward by this Congress. In fact it is safe to assume that one of the reasons all of the current negotiations presently occurring behind closed doors, when we were promised they would be "put on CSPAN" by the Messiah himself, are dragging on with such difficulty.

The lawmakers still trying to pass the measure are attempting to figure out a way to lie to people about what's in the plan long enough for it to get passed, only then once it is for it to be exposed as the gimmick ridden, special interest riddled pay off of all time.

So they negotiate in private, they keep the prying eyes of bloggers, citizens, and now the press as well far from the substance of the bill.

Word to the unobservant--watch for the final version to be rushed through hurried votes probably like at 2am on a Saturday morning...

But new polls tell the true story:
54% of the American people oppose Obama care. 35% are in favor, and that number continues to shrink. Non-partisan Independents oppose the Obamacare plans 62% to 23%.
And while 85% of Republicans oppose the plans, only 65% of partisan Democrats endorse any of them. Message to Congress and Obama... pass the measure if you must, but just understand the wrath that the American people will have the right to take out on your electoral backsides in 2010.

And thus the real problem, that pesky thing called Democracy.

If so many Democrats weren't up for election in 2010 there would be much greater boldness, raw ambition, and grab for naked power. But in January the campaign ads start rolling, Congressional races will be up for grabs. And the Obama economy, with unemployment-- soaring past where he promised it never would (8%)--now at near 10% nationally the pain is greater than ever in this administration.

People want an economy that will render jobs. They don't want government to feed them and their children, they want to have the opportunity to feed them for themselves. And in their mind health care can wait.

So here's the disconnect, the administration continues to push health care reform--but not the kind that "We the People" want them to. We've taken a look at what they're offering and told them all to not go through with it.

They aren't listening and instead are cutting deals in backrooms--exactly the way Obama promised wouldn't happen on his watch--and the people see the times get worse.

Perhaps this explains why only 43% of Americans would vote to re-elect the President if the election were today, and that's a radically 10% less than where he was roughly one year ago on election night.

Tough stuff Mr. President, but with your tin ear it's unlikely you'll listen to anyone who isn't on your dime.

NEW POLLS: Obama reaches record unapprovals.

got worries?

I've been asked to comment much lately on the worsening poll numbers. In fact on Fox News last week Dr. Marc Lamont Hill and I got into what kind of effect Obama's performance at his self requested press conference was going to have on his present standing.

I predicted at the time that it would worsen his standing somewhere 2-5%.

On the day of his press conference his passion index (strongly approve/strongly disapprove) was around -5%. As of this morning, with the first round of completed numbers being reported since the presser his passion index is around -9%. 30% strongly approve, 39% strongly disapprove.

His generic approval numbers aren't any better news for the O'ministration either: 49% now approve of the President's job overall, 51% disapprove.

Also of note: 53% disapprove of Congressional Health Care reform efforts. 53% also now say, Obama is partisan democrat.

Things to watch going forward. Jobs numbers... Passage or stoppage of Universal Health Care... and tax rates.

Overall not good things working for him presently...

LATEST POLLS - Rasmussen: 48% each, Zogby: McCain/Palin up 4%
Posted by: Kevin McCullough at 10:43 AM

BOUNCE!

See when you go into convention season ahead by 3 and come out of your convention ahead by five -  that's a bounce.

But when you go into the convention down by 5 and come out ahead by 4 - in a race as tight as this - thats McMentum!

Rasmussen (the most accurate poll to watch): 48% each with leaners. (This number does NOT reflect McCain's speech night. You know... the night where MORE people watched him than Obama?)

Zogby (heh...):  McCain/Palin 49%, Obama/Biden 45%.

(NEW POLL ROUND UP) Is a vote HUCK still a vote for Rudy?
Posted by: Kevin McCullough at 1:50 PM

Iowa, Michigan, South Carolina, Florida
...NATIONALLY...

All of these numbers are impressive given what Huck has actually spent. Matt Lewis is attempting to out Huck everyone here on TownHall and he points to the naming of Ed Rollins to Huck's team. He also highlights the Jim Pinkerton piece that I failed to mention.

And he surmizes that the more liberals bash Huck the better he does... Which I could not agree more with.

That is also fundamentally the problem with a Rudy general election. No daylight between a Rudy vs. Hillary race. With Mitt or Huck you get enough daylight to ram a Mack truck through - and the MOST IMPORTANT THING THE GOP needs in its general election candidate is...?

CONTRAST!

GOOD GOSH: Polls breaking for Huck ALL OVER THE PLACE...
Posted by: Kevin McCullough at 11:46 AM

Movin' On Up!

Look at these numbers... and let me remind you I've not endorsed anyone yet... but LOOK AT THESE NUMBERS:

Nationally - Rudy 24%, Huck 22% (led briefly late last week in Rasmussen)

Iowa
- Jan 3 - Huck 39% (up 8%), Mitt 17%, Fred 10%
New Hampshire - Jan 8 - Mitt 25% (down 10%), Rudy 17%, Huck 11% (up 2%)
Michigan - Jan 15 - Huck 21% (up 12 %), Mitt 20% (down 5%), Rudy 19%
Nevada - Jan 19 - Mitt 29%, Huck 23% (up 6%), Rudy 17%
South Carolina - Jan 19 - Huck 30% (up 10%), Mitt 19%, Fred 18%
Florida -Jan 29 - Rudy 32%, Huck 18% (up 7%), Mitt 15%
California - Feb 5 -  Rudy 32%, McCain 18%, Huck 14% (up 10%)
Pennsylvania - Feb 5 - Rudy 27%, Huck 13% (up 7%), McCain 13%

Matt Lewis is reporting that it is this very precise momentum that the Romney camp is now actively trying to run interference through...

The footsteps that keep Hillary awake at night...
Posted by: Kevin McCullough at 12:33 PM

I know she still sits atop every poll for the Democratic primary, but at some point the value of the number of individual donors Obama continues to string together has got to count for something.

For every donation he gets from a NEW donor (and he now has more individual donors than ALL of the GOP candidates combined, and far more than Clinton) he is enlisting a soldier in the battle. Because many of their gifts (the vast majority) are so far beneath the legal limit - he has the "growing pie" potential where he can continue to go back and build upon the fund raising base again and again.

How Hillary ultimately is able to counter this with IOU's from has-been county chairmen seems a tad impossible, but those who make the argument that she has "the organization" even though he has "the money" seems to be winning out in the daily tracking polls.

Lessons to Mitt and Rudy... RESPECT THE FRED!
Posted by: Kevin McCullough at 7:49 PM

Mitt's disingenuous, "I'm not responsible for the FredSpoofSite..." tap dance was silly. Which was sad because I thought he acted honorably in the Senator Craig scenario.

But Rudy has also enjoyed some more silly moments lately... leaving the impression that he's more than ok with illegal immigration...

A misdemeanor IS a crime. It may not be a felony, but it is a crime. It is a violation of law and sovereignty. And whatever the Mayor MEANT, what he chose to SAY and how the 1000's of news outlets wrote the headlines: "Rudy says Illegal Immigration shouldn't be a crime," could not have been a worse slogan to be branding himself with. It just reminds everyone that the Mayor is a huge fan of the entire Sanctuary City policies that gave us three dead Newark kids who were, by all accounts, the shining stars of their communities.

FRED went on offense this week and tackled Hillary, he stayed clear of saying anything nasty about an opponent in GOP circles and in doing so stayed "above the frey." And according to Rasmussen it is a strategy that is WORKING!

Since Labor Day look at the movement:

Still don't know why George Will and Ryan Sager are so openly hostile to Big Fred, but I think eventually they may see more merit in his candidacy than they presently do...
