LOVELY: Well former President Bill Clinton was definitely the highlight tonight--he rallied the crowd and had them lapping up every word he said. He was charismatic as usual, although much of what he said was not true. He jumped from one point to the next so fast, however, that the shots he was taking were hard to keep up with. He made his case for Obama, albeit very thin.

Biden, however, was not so engaging. His speech was incredibly boring. Towards the end, he started to make his case for Obama, distinguishing his choices and actions from those of John McCain. It was unremarkable, and very interesting considering that he didn't think Obama was qualified to be president not so long ago.

Ultimately, there has still not been anyone who has come out and really clued the public in to who Obama is exactly, and how he is going to implement all these changes he keeps championing. All the while, they are trying to take shots at McCain, but they can't make any particularly strong arguments for why Obama would be such a stellar choice in comparison.

FAITH AMMEN: We have had three straight nights of calf slobber. We have learned nothing about Obama. We have had sob stories, childhood memories, and cutesy phrases. There has been excessive Bush Bashing. For some reason they can't seem to challenge or critique McCain's record...all they can do is equate him to Bush. I'm still waiting for the speech when someone tells me what Obama has done and plans to do besides "change" and saving the world from the big bad Republicans.

LOVELY: Is that the most pressing issue of our day?--Equal pay for women?

Matlock: Does he know that we pay the active military "hazardous duty" pay while they are deployed? Is cronyism a word?
LOVELY: No he doesn't know because he cut the military when he was in office

and allowed World Trade to be bombed the first time...

KMC: My buddy Amanda Carpenter is on O'Reilly as we speak and has just laid out the best reasons possible why the Ayers' ad is gonna hurt Obama. Basically she said it exposed the tactics to which Obama will go to - to SHUT DOWN - free speech - ESPECIALLY when its... honest!

"LIVE BLOG" from the DNC - Hillary gives strong speech - fails Obama

Hillary Clinton: 'Obama is my candidate'

"All I've fought for..."

At about 9pm or so Faith and I will kick in with running "live blog" commentary here on the MuscleHead pages. The headliner for the night, HILLARY CLINTON. The big question is "will she or won't she" unite the troops? We shall see. Faith and I might have other guest bloggers joining us tonight - so check back around 9pm and throughout the evening for commentary you won't find anywhere else. YOU can join the discussion if you are so led in the comments to this post as well...

LOVELY: Hillary did the bare minimum in her speech--she did what she was expected to do, but never gave him more than absolutely necessary on her part. The speech was much more about her and everything she had achieved as a woman running for senator and president--tying it in with the 19th amendment, and breaking glass ceilings, etc. etc. She did not come out in overwhelming support for Obama--all she said was that people should vote for him so McCain doesn't get into office. There was no acclaim for who he is as a person, no support of his character or ability to be president. She did the bare minimum. It was all about her and that wasn't surprising.

Matlock: Her obvious point was to unite the party. But it did not come off like that at all. She talked about Obama very little. The speech really was more about her. It think her motivation had to be out of some deal she and Obama have struck. After all the personal attacks she has lost that directly contradict what she said tonight, how can she not have different motives. Of course she wants Obama to win, he is a Democrat who can put her in a position of power. I think she did what she had to do but no more. If I was a hard core Hillary supporter I would not have changed my position because she gave me no reason to. Her argument was to "do it for her" or for the American people. She didn't address any issues or anything that would change my mind specifically about Obama.

LOVELY: This speech was all about her and what she's done, and then she just threw in "oh yeah, vote for Barack Obama" here and there

Matlock: Kevin, I'm thinking more a Supreme Court position

LOVELY: totally disconnected from the rest of her speech and the points she was making

FAITH AMMEN: Can't believe she said Biden would be a good VP when he's the one who said "“I think he (Obama) can be ready but right now I don’t believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training.”

LOVELY: What does this story about Harriet Tubman have to do with Hillary and Obama?

Matlock: It's funny that her speech about women's freedom and voting rights and empowering women is to support a man for president.

Matlock: Make college affordable again? When did it switch from being affordable to being not? It has always been hard to pay for college.

LOVELY: What about the God-given potential of unborn children? Do they have rights? If she mentions children and the rights they should have one more time I'm going to puke...

KMC: SEE... its still all about her

Matlock: If Hillary believes so much in the power of family why does she cripple the family's ability to govern itself? Leave the family alone Hillary. If they are so pivotal, let them function without taking away parents rights to parent their kids.

LOVELY: What do any of these stories have to do with why people should elect Obama?

KMC: See Hillary SHOULD have been the nominee. She knew the number of states we have.

Matlock: The first thing she talks about is uniting. There is no doubt what her priority is. Do you think she sees Hillary as competition... as a woman? Michelle is the wife while Hillary is in the spotlight.

LOVELY: She only "advocates" for children already born
FAITH AMMEN: The things she supports are not things that government have other or should ever be about...
KMC: I'm not BUYING it... this is still all about her...

LOVELY: They make it sound like she is the only female role model for girls...
LOVELY: What about all the mothers who quit their jobs and ambitions in the world to stay home and raise their kids?

FAITH AMMEN: Technically, she has done nothing but campaign and run for Senator in a state she doesn't live in... Hillary believes in "God-Given Potential..." What about God-given life?

Matlock: He gets them interested by making his speech interactive. It's a speakers crutch. Just make them stand up and shout, raise their hands up and shout

LOVELY: The Petrol dictators? Are you kidding? It's such a slap in the face when these guys say "God bless America." They don't really want God to bless America.

They want to take God out of every part of America...
FAITH AMMEN: Amen!

KMC: One pundit after another continue to slough off the "Ayers/Obama" connection - even though they have given speeches as recently as two years ago, and Ayers said on 9.11.01 - that he wished his terrorist group could have killed MORE people and bombed MORE buildings when he bombed the capital... This acting as though it shouldn't be talked about ignores the issue that they had RECENT relationship with each other, and Ayers worked on Obama's behalf in raising money, hosting brunches for Obama since 2000. That to me is NOT so distant history...

KMC: While Warner must have been so boring, Alan Colmes started debating Rudy Giuliani on FNC. Rudy ate his lunch on the Ayers' issue. Ayers SAID on 9/11/2001 - that he wished HIS terror group had caused MORE damage. On 9/11!!! As we were having our hearts ripped out of us watching 3000 of our fellow countrymen suffer the cruel deaths at the hands of terrorists. And Ayers - wishes he could have done even more...

And HE held a fund-raiser for Obama...

And HE had Obama serve on the board of the organization HE founded...

And Obama called him respectable and mainstream...

Give it up Dems - it's a legit issue, and you darn well know it!

then both getting to attend Harvard Law. Then he got to teach law, and she went into the professional world... and both did well

KMC: She came from essentially a black middle class family... Any family that had a mother and father in the black community in that day as in this - had many advantages...

His father - who was ardently pro-life was BANNED from speaking in the 1992 Convention because of his pro-life beliefs. (Says a lot about the "tolerance" in the DNC huh?) Tolerance to Democrats is agreement with them. If you disagree then you need to be shut up, and put away...
LOVELY: how can dems talk about having "deep faith"???? I don't get it considering the values they champion...

DNC "Live Blog" - 4 great voices, same low price...

The headliner for the night, Michelle "never been proud of my country in my entire adult life until my husband started winning a primary" Obama. YOU can join the discussion if you are so led in the comments to this post as well...

PRE-PRIME TIME STARTER TOPIC: Is it just ME or do you think that the Obama campaign is really protesting too much, making too many statements, and too many public offerings stating that "Unity" is not a problem. I mean if it isn't - why do you have to make so many statements claiming so? Thoughts?

Faith and I have both invited our roomates to join us in the "Live Blog" tonight. So you will get the unique honor of also hearing from the Lovely Bride, and Ms. Lindsay Matlock - what follows is their honest feelings on the night.

LOVELY: Overall, I think the evening went well for the Obama camp. I think that Kennedy's speech was well delivered and pointed toward the ideals in the forefront of the campaign. Michelle also redeemed herself from her previous negative images--positive, caring mother and wife.

That was her big hurdle, and so this speech was mostly about her and where she and Obama came from--not about Obama's policies or platform. Tonight didn't tell anyone anything about what exactly he believes or what all the changes are going to be that they all keep talking about.

Except for the whole "healthcare" platform embraced by Ted Kennedy. This was a whitewashing of the Obama family; a "we aren't that different from you" story with none of the controversial or elite parts of their history included in what was said. It was meant to be reassuring, and I think it only spoke to people already on their side.

FAITH AMMEN: If the convention was a self-help conference or a platform for motivational speakers, I would say the DNC has been successful so far. When it comes to having a real candidate with real experience and real solutions, they failed miserably.

Tonight I was inspired to vote for Obama because Teddy Kennedy has cancer and because Obama is a "normal" guy and because he bought ice cream for his wife.

The stories were a nice touch, but it quickly turned into a sickening sweet feeling. I don't feel like I know the "presidential" Obama any better or why I should support his candidacy any more than I did 4 hours ago. I think all the personal stories were at complete odds with any policies that Obama support.

This is what happens when a Senator who was in office for less than 200 days before he decided to run for President of the greatest country on earth. I would hire tonight's Democrats for my next inspirational speaking gig but not for Commander in Chief!

KMC: For a guy with a brain tumor, he was remarkably lucid and on point. Overall not a bad showing for Kennedy. And he was able to articulate his socialist ideas perhaps as strongly as ever. They were nonetheless socialist utopia silliness... that make wonderful prose, but not a strong possible reality...

KMC: CLASSIC - H&C opens their hour of coverage with the Hillary vs. Obama debate - again forcing the issue and making the Obama team overstate the "unity" issue. I also had relayed to me when doing the Ed Morrissey, "Hot Air" show today that ALL of Hillary's senior staff is leaving Denver following Bill Clinton's speech on Wednesday - thus causing Obama's "historic" thursday to be absent of any Hillary's team. Also VERY telling that Terry McCaulliffe has been on the screen for nearly six minutes now - and has not once said anything by way of personal or Hillary'esque in support of Obama. He keeps saying "we have to be unified" not "we're all behind Barack baby."

FAITH AMMEN: How can Jesse Jackson Jr show his face with his father out talking about cutting Obama's n*ts off? "Obama has a remarkable career in the Senate?" Is this the same Senator who was in office for 163 days before he decided to run for President?

LOVELY: About the other topic, though...I definitely think Obama's camp is "protesting too much" when it comes to their current status with Hillary. The questions surrounding why he wouldn't have her as a running mate are just too easy to speculate on, and his camp is too quick to dismiss them as irrelevant.

FAITH AMMEN: On Jimmy Carter's video: I agree that volunteers played a huge role. Hurricane Katrina happened my freshman year of college. I remember spending a Saturday morning in a Walmart parking lot loading diapers and canned foods into a huge truck. I also remember 100 of my fellow students who spent their fall break helping the victims of the Hurricane. But to insinuate that our government did not do anything is both irresponsible and inaccurate. $16.7 billion taxpayer dollars went to help Louisiana. There is a very detailed plan of what our government.

KMC: BTW - The Lovely Bride and I are watching FoxNews Channel, and Ms. Faith and Lindsay are watching CNN. We've got OReilly on and they just ran that stupid song parody that's supposed to be a hit on McCain... CORNY! Not even close to measuring up to the brilliant whole stream of ads that have been pouring out of the McCain camp.

Lindsay Matlock: CNN came out with a pole this morning that 27% of Hillary supporters are not just unsure about Obama, they are flat out voting for McCain. If that is true then I don't think they can respond too heavily until that 27% is down to 0.
