Mark Steyn at CPAC

Mark is probably one of my favorite speakers to listen to.  Nobody talks about health care or immigration like Steyn. Nobody articulates the threat we face from radical Islam quite like Steyn.  Nobody makes the case for freedom like Steyn.  And absolutely nobody makes you think as much and laugh as much as Mark Steyn.   Townhall.com captured his speech today.   If you've never heard him speak, I strongly recommend you take a moment and watch, enjoy and learn.

Mr. Steyn is a principled and gutsy Western warrior, with a pen and wit sharper than any sword. Conservatives who are wondering what to do should try to spread his messages, particularly the video versions as widely as possible as he is one of few talented orators who can rally the disillusioned troops.

It is a shame that there appears to be no Churchill or Reagan among politicians in our hour of need and that the citizenry has been brainwashed by leftist control of public education and mass media to the point that they crave and believe in that illusory cosy cradle the nanny Democrats are promising them.

Although a Republican candidate employing Steyn as his speech writer would be an improvement, the one who delivers his message best is himself, because he is passionate but more importantly can marshal his facts and think on his feet. He never bores his audience and can make himself clear without talking down to anyone. Obama is a cliche spouting empty suit next to him.

Spread Steyn's message. It's conservative, and so entertainingly presented that it would appeal to many in the mushy middle as well who simply have never heard it and are presently being herded left by the media and elites.

Sorry Mark, but the First Amendment died years ago and conservatives missed the funeral. McCain-Feingold killed political speech. The FCC banned "Hillary: the Movie" from TV broadcast. The media have nearly killed debate on global warming and the war on terror. Universities expel students whose political views don't jibe with the campus thought police.
The list goes on. Steyn should enjoy his moments in the sun because the structures that brought him grief in Canada are in place here, too.

We already have a former Canadian ruining Michigan's economy and a former Austrian on the road to destroying CA's economy. Steyn's already a legal citizen and sounds way less ignorant than Ahnold. The only office he couldn't run for is president.

Thanks for posting this video, TH. Steyn really understands what we're in jeopardy of losing - and what we won't be excused for if we allow it to happen.

Ironic it would be a (legal) immigrant to have such a sharply focused view on life in the US. Also ironic (tragedy?) he is being prosecuted for his work by our sweatered neighbors to the North. So very disappointing...should there be warnings on tourist guides- "Welcome to Canada- be careful of what you say!"?

ditto on remarks about Mark Steyn's presence and his ability to speak. He is even better on video than print. No small feat.

Isn't there some loophole that would allow him to run for office? How quickly can we get the rules changed?

Just the right medicine for a 'disenchant-ised' conservative.

Steyn is even better on video than in print. And the print is always top-notch. Send the speech to congressional and senatorial candidates everywhere - they should be saying and promoting these ideas.
