Obama Tries to Downplay Ayers Connection
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 3:55 PM
Barack Obama's campaign is putting out a video to downplay the link between their candidate and the unrepentant terrorist William Ayers.

In it the narrator says: "With all our problems, why is John McCain talking about the sixties, trying to link Barack Obama to radical Bill Ayers? McCain knows Obama denounced Ayers’ crimes, committed when Obama was just eight years old."

I'll post the video when I have it, but here's the response from the McCain camp:
"The fact that Barack Obama chose to launch his political career at the home of an unrepentant terrorist raises more questions about Senator Obama's judgment than any TV ad ever could. And the fact that he's launching his own Convention by defending his long association with a man who says he didn't bomb enough U.S. targets tells us more about Barack Obama than any of tonight's speeches will." --McCain spokesman Brian Rogers
Quite frankly, I'm shocked the Obama campaign is going out of their way to talk about William Ayers. There's no good that can come of this for Obama. This is a win for team McCain. Again, they're knocking Obama off his game and doing it during his big coronation week no less.

Site your source, Kim
And stick to the topic.
eddie too writes: Monday, August, 25, 2008 4:38 PM
Kimberly,

do you seriously think trashing the McCains' decision to adopt an orphan is going to help Obama?
eddie too writes: Monday, August, 25, 2008 4:41 PM
How long ago was that picture taken

of Ayers standing on the American flag? How old was Obambi when Ayers had that picture taken?

Does Obambi ever say anything that is correct and does not need to be explained, corrected or reversed later? Obambi is definitely rare when it comes to gaffes. They come out of his mouth or campaign almost non-stop.

Obama & Friends

Which is more important to the American People:

How many houses McCain owns?

How many buildings Obama's friends bombed?

Wrong bird
Kimberly,

On anther blog I wrote that you sounded like my old parrot, but I must apologise; to the parrot. He made more sense. What you're really like is a crow. Ever so brass, loud, and uncivil. This blog article was actually rather neutral, just saying that Obama should have just let the matter of his association drop instead of giving his opponents something to use in what was supposed to be his "Golden Moment in the Sun". But for you it's just something to Caw Caw Caw about isn't it? Always something loud, brass & negative from good old Kimberly. I almost feel sorry for you, Almost
Joe writes: Monday, August, 25, 2008 5:30 PM
Well yeah! Not something to promote!
But give Barack time, he will figure out a way to jam Ayers under that bus too.
TrueRedHead writes: Monday, August, 25, 2008 5:31 PM
I'll grant that McCain campaign...
...staffers may have overreached in their description of events surrounding the adoption by invoking Mother Theresa herself. But nowhere is Cindy McCain actually quoted as making that claim, so I'd say this ranks as being about as pertinent as some of the misstatements scrubbed from Obama's site after they'd been pointed out by critics. And there's certainly no dispute that the McCains adopted a child in great need and gave her a loving home and family.

That said, your point has absolutely nothing to do with the topic of this column, which is Obama's association with Bill Ayers. Do you have anything to say in your chosen candidate's defense?
eddie too writes: Monday, August, 25, 2008 5:38 PM
Kimberly,

that web site does not prove that Blessed Teresa of Calcutta did not speak to Cindy McCain. In fact, if Blessed Teresa was at the orphanage when Cindy McCain visited, she almost certainly would have spoken to McCain.

To prove the slur, you must prove Cindy McCain did not talk to Blessed Teresa during the visit that she adopted the McCains' daughter.

Keep trying Kimberly. Success will be yours when you vote for JSM.

Kimberly,

does Obambi supporters walking on Old Glory with a smile bother you?

The association with Ayers...
...is more than just "personal history", Kim. If you fail to understand that, your head is buried too deeply in the sand for common sense to reach you.

Monkey Girl, just shut up already. Don't tell me you excuse all of Obama's mistakes and are blaming the RW because they are slandering him? AW, poor baby. Well, you do get what you pay for-or lie for, don't you?
You Obama voters are absolutely convinced he is going to save the world. I sure do hate it for you.

Back to the topic at hand
Only three words are needed to respond to Obama's attempt to downplay the Ayers connection: "lies of omission".

Scotch Indian writes: Monday, August, 25, 2008 8:05 PM
Obie-wan lies like a log ....
Obama's lies about Ayers are instructive --

1. When the Ayers connection first came up ... "he is just a guy I served on a charitable Board with..." This was believable. I serve on charitable boards and don't know (or care) about the political orientation of the other members. Then, the kimono started to part ...

2. It turned out that (gasp) Obie's first political fundraiser was at the home of Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, unrepentant terrorists. Very bad judgement -- and it made clear that the previous assertion was a lie, or Obie-wan was a very naive politician.

3. Then "just a guy in the neighborhood ... I think he's a professor of English". Now it turns out that Obie and Billie worked quite closely together.

4. Next -- "When I was only 8 years old ... back in the 60's" ... BUT, Obie-wan, how old were you when Billie Ayers published "Fugitive Days" in 2001, and posed trampling the American Flag. That was the time that Obie-wan should have severed his relationship. It was his last reasonable chance. Billie Ayers was being featured in Chicago magazines saying he wished he'd done more bombing. READ THE BOOK -- there is absolutely no doubt that Billie Ayers is a spoiled little rich boy who hates American and is trying to destroy it. And, there is NO DOUBT that when that book came out, Obie-wan knew exactly who his pal was.

What about BROTHER "GEORGE" Obama ?

We really want to see KING Obama's spin on why he never sent 50 bucks to his poor destitute brother:

Who lives in a shack and does not even have clean drinking water:

WILL HE DOWNPLAY his cruel neglect of his brother ?
sloandog writes: Monday, August, 25, 2008 9:55 PM
Excellent points Scotch Indian!
This happened when Obama was eight years old spin is the one I am most amused at.Lets take Kimberly for instance now taking for granted that she really is a women and she could actually give birth to children:What if her neighbor was a serial child molester and his last offense was thirty years ago but recently he wrote a book about his exploits and wished he could have done a lot more.Would she:A-Be seen in public with him and serve on a board with him.B-Hold major functions at his house so she can meet like minded people or C-Trust her small children in his care. The answer is all of the above, because she is a democrat and hopes he will change her children's sorry lives and he would.

Don't forget
Ayers is the blockade to the public information that should be available but suddently is not at the University of Chicago...Go read Stnaley Kurtz or listen to Jerry Agar in Chicago. Leopards don't ever lose the spots, do they? Reputable English prof my yankee assss!
