McConnell: 'Civility Does Not Mean Capitulation'
Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 4:32 PM

John Hawkins was in on a conference call today with newly minted Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell. I was invited, but couldn't get away from the filming of HamNation in time. Luckily John's on the ball.

Like John, I have a hard time believing tales of a Republican backbone until I see it, even though I think McConnell's a good guy. We shall see, but as John notes:

After all, we've already had Arlen Specter running off to Syria and Chuck Hagel saying Bush won't get support for his "Alice in Wonderland" policy of sending more troops to Iraq.

Then, there's McCain on conservatives and their fixation on the "goddamned fence." Feel the love.

Well, at least we're not crashing each other's press conferences...yet.

Right role
The Republicans are a great opposition party, they just don't know how to govern. Yes they did a lot of things right, but they also loved the power and wanted to play by the Democrats rules and got their butts kicked!

The Congress
...congresspersons should have time limits..Republicans can't govern and Democrats are power-mad. Obama has shown that candidates new to the Congress can function effectively. Perhaps if the old warhorses were shown the door (Byrd, Specter..are you listening?), the Congress would not be hogtied by power moves. Obviously, the present system of gorverning isn't working. One party in power makes legislation which is nullified as soon as the opposition party is in the majority..thorw the bums out and start over again...
