The Clinton Freak-Out: 'Um, Wow.'
Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 5:52 PM

Watch the delicious highlights over at Hot Air. It's really quite amazing.

I think K-Lo nails it when she calls it Clinton's "Tom Cruise" moment. I would not have been very surprised to see him jump on the couch.

Marshall Manson is stunned.Everyone is fact-checking.

I like Geraghty's catch:

Bill Clinton, in that Fox News interview:

OK, now let’s look at all the criticisms: Black Hawk down, Somalia. There is not a living soul in the world who thought that Osama bin Laden had anything to do with Black Hawk down or was paying any attention to it or even knew Al Qaida was a growing concern in October of ‘93.

Not a living soul in the world... except for President Clinton's own Justice Department. The U.S. Justice Department's indictment of Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda's military commander, Mohammed Atef, on Nov. 4, 1998, for conspiring to kill Americans:

More on it later, but click around from Michelle's post to find many more reactions.

Wallace does a great job, asking the tough questions, but he remains really polite and non-combative. It's telling that Clinton's the one who flips. It's a "right-wing conspiracy," you see?

The Clinton Freak-Out is the No. 1 Most Viewed video on YouTube this weekend. And, in a little Internet victory, Fox was touting that point as part of its advertising of the interview. You know, instead of ripping the video down because it violated copyright. Good move, Fox. Now, almost 900,000 people have seen the great preview, and undoubtedly many of them tuned in for the whole thing as a result.

Update: Isn't Clinton supposed to be the consummate politician? Didn't he know this was gonna get a world more attention-- and mostly negative attention--than just glossing over it and saying, "well, I don't doubt that I made mistakes, but we should really be looking to the future," or something like that? Does he really think this is helping him or Democrats? I guess he probably cares most about whether it's helping him, but does he actually think this will? He looks like a very immature man who knows he screwed up.

Update: "Just read Richard Clarke's book!" Or, not.

Update: The Post's coverage leaves out that Wallace agreed with Clinton that they would do 15 minutes on the Clinton Global Initiative and 15 minutes on other topics, playing into Clinton's version of events-- that he had been brought into the interview "under false pretences." It also leaves out the fact that Wallace tried several times to steer back to the CGI, but Clinton wasn't done ranting:

Clinton had planned to discuss his climate change initiative during his appearance on "Fox News Sunday," but he turned combative after host Chris Wallace asked why he hadn't "put bin Laden and al-Qaeda out of business." Clinton shot back that "all the conservative Republicans" who now criticize him for inattention to bin Laden used to criticize him for over-attention to bin Laden.

Neither the Post nor the AP report does a lot of fact-checking of Clinton's actual assertions-- just repeats them. You'll have to go to the right-wing conspirators on blogs and Fox News for that kind of dastardly stuff.

Check out the Fox News Sunday panel right now for some of that fact-checking.

Update: "No Dan Coats-- no airstrikes. It's as simple as that."

Update: I was looking for this, but Patterico's already found it. Chris Wallace asked Rumsfeld the same questions.
