Peggy Noonan has a new column up about the Republican convention entitled "A Clear and Present Danger To the American Left".
She writes:
"Gut: The Sarah Palin choice is really going to work, or really not going to work. It's not going to be a little successful or a little not; it's not going to be a wash. She is either going to be magic or one of history's accidents. She is either going to be brilliant and groundbreaking, or will soon be the target of unattributed quotes by bitter staffers shifting blame in all the Making of the President 2008 books. Of which there should be plenty, as we've never had a year like this, with the fabulous freak of a campaign."

And of course, here is the footage of both Mike Murphy and Peggy Noonan ripping into the Palin selection. According to them, Palin is not the best candidate for Veep, and she is a cynical choice:

Wow. The GOP doesn't even have any pundits and talking heads that support the selection. Lest we forget what Scarborough and Pat Buchanan said as well.

LOL! What an utter, pathetic embarrassment for McCain and the GOP. Now you all look like a bunch of fools. And Dems didn't even have to lift a finger!!! ROFL!!! |
|
HACK!
Two-faced hack of a pundit. |
|
At least according that's what Noonan is saying when the cameras aren't rolling. Unfortunately for the GOP the audio was still on, and Noonan and Mike Murphy, former McCain staffer, rained derision on the pick.
It's on youtube, just search Noonan and Murphy. |

Peggy Noonan is one of the most gifted writers this country has ever produced.
She could have written beautiful novels, short stories, poetry or even drama.
Instead she chose to flush her talent down the toilet of Republican Party Politics.
What a waste....
But, PS:
None of this is about Gov. Palin.
This is a story about John McCain's reckless, irresponsible, unstable decision making.
Everything else is a diversion from that one, simple, fundamental and undeniable truth. |
|
I am glad that Peggy Noonan, one of the most respected commentators, notes how important the Palin choice was.
McCain did not choose the most visible possible VP contenders such as Pawlenty or Romney. He went out of his way to choose an outsider, who changes the dynamic of the Republican ticket this year in a way that Joe Biden does not.
In recognizing this, Noonan notes that this could be seen in the future as a brilliant choice or, quite frankly, a wasted opportunity. |

what a useless comment.
Now THAT's going out on a limb there Peggy...
Of course it's one or the other...
The last 72 hours have deemed it to be that way...
Usually a "gut" tells you what you THINK will happen...
Playing both sides is weak... |
